Make that 3.9 Xbox One units "shipped", not "sold". It seems they couldn't sell 900,000 of them.

Microsoft announced today as part of its latest financial report that it sold to retailers (shipped) 3.9 million Xbox One consoles worldwide during the quarter ended December 31. It sounds like a big number, but it doesn't tell the whole story.

Microsoft previously announced that it sold to consumers 3 million systems worldwide by that same end-date, meaning there were actually 900,000 Xbox One consoles either left on store shelves or in transport during the year. This despite Microsoft saying it was selling every console it could make.

Sony sold 4.2 million PlayStation 4 consoles in 2013, but we won't know how many units were left on shelves during the year, if any, until the company reports earnings in early February.

    Meanwhile, at Nintendo...

Nintendo stock nosedives on poor Wii U sales

Shares down more than 15 percent after company announces negative revisions to Wii U and 3DS sales projections.

Nintendo can't catch a break. After announcing dismal Wii U sales and diminished financial projections today, shares of the Tokyo game giant have plunged more than 15 percent. The company is currently trading down more than 17 percent to $14.90.

It may not only be the downwardly revised sales projections for the Wii U and 3DS that has investors spooked. President Satoru Iwata said today said the company is considering orienting itself around a "new business structure" that could involve a greater emphasis on smartphones.

Nintendo today slashed its Wii U sales forecast for the period ending March 31, 2014 to 2.8 million consoles, down from 9 million, representing a decrease of almost 70 percent. 3DS sales projections for the same period fell from 18 million to 13.5 million.

Finally, Nintendo said it now expects to post a loss of 25 billion ($240 million) for the year, compared to a previous forecast for a profit of 55 billion ($527 million). If Nintendo does end up in the red, it will mark the company's third straight annual loss.

Despite the poor performance, Iwata will not resign as Nintendo's top executive.

Nintendo Stock Returns to Normal, Nobody Reports It | GaminRealm.comGaminRealm.com

Today, Nintendo’s stock has essentially returned to where it was normally 2 weeks ago before the reported 18% drop (which ended up only being a 6% drop at the end of the day). But to no surprise, many major media outlets and gamers alike are not reporting the news. Little do gamers know that stocks are always constantly rising and falling literally every day, almost every hour.

It doesn't change the fact that Ninty is headed for their third straight yearly loss. Nor the fact that sales forecasts of both the Wii U and 3DS have been seriously downgraded.

They are losing money hand over fist while hardware sales are on the decline. Both the PS4 and XB1 have outsold the Wii U within a month of launch.

Where's that silver lining again?!? Expect the share price to drop again after a slight recovery. Maybe you should stock up on Bitcoins instead.

to 2.8 million consoles, down from 9 million,
Wow...I knew the WiiU was in trouble, but I never expected it to be this bad. I know these are just Nintendo's own projections but they were way ahead of themselves.

And speaking of Microsoft, XBOX one will get 60fps sports broadcasts: Xbox One to get 60fps sports broadcasts - GameSpot yet the XONE can't run most games at 60fps.
Case in point: Tomb Raider PS4 runs at 60fps, but what about Xbox One? - GameSpot

What happened to Nintendomination? That seemed to be all the rage before the Wii U released.

Because, Nintendoomed gathers more clicks .

Still, Nintendo seem to of been having an up and down moment the past few weeks. I don't see Nintendo going down any time soon, but they do need to sort their position out.
