Microsoft changed their mind (or lied, depending on who you talk to) about never offering an Xbone without Kinect. Starting on June 9th you'll be able to purchase an Xbox One without Kinect for $399.
Source: IGNXbox One will come without Kinect later this year, Microsoft has announced. It will cost $399 USD on June 9. In Europe, that's £349 and 399 Euros. This brings Xbox One's price to parity with PlayStation 4.
Just this past February, Microsoft stated it had no intention of removing the device from its new console.
"Kinect remains an important part of our vision," head of Xbox Phil Spencer said. "Many of you are using Kinect for Xbox One every day."

When Microsoft first announced the Xbox One, it was revealed that the console wouldn't function if Kinect was unplugged, leading some to worry about privacy. Since then, the company decided to reverse this policy.

I'm glad they're doing this. I really dislike the Kinect and never use it on my Xbone and the $100 price drop is definitely nice. Curious to see if this takes away any steam from the PlayStation 4.

Total Awards: 16Fantastic news!
Now that the XB1 is at price parity with the PS4, all they have to do is compete on system specs...oh wait...never mind

Xbone at a reasonable price point now? Maybe change the current retail price by half and then do a 100% discount and that is how much it should retail for.

Even if I had the system for free, none of the exclusives interest me. Hopefully this change helps them though.

if you dont buy a xbox one with a kinect your gonna miss out
its the only reason why i use it as a netflix/youtube machine over ps4. if you can find another way to turn on the tv, adjust my TV volume, log in, switch from a video game to netflix, and find whatever piece of entertainment i want within a second without using a controller, let me know.
(I seriously use it everyday. i just used it 5 minutes ago.)

Total Awards: 27I think everyone saw this coming, and I'll certainly now at least entertain the idea of getting an Xbox One, because I'd really like to play Sunset Overdrive. The Kinect was really the only remaining objection I had to buying the console.
Maybe in a few years down the line I'll drop $200.
