Majora’s Mask Or A Link To The Past Remake Confirmed

News for another Zelda remake has been on everyone’s mind lately, thanks to the help of Operation Moonfall. Nintendo has hinted toward both a Majora’s Mask and A Link to the Past. While Miyamoto himself has stated he would love to see A Link to the Past on the 3DS with the ability to play it in 3D, Nintendo has also mentioned that if enough fans want Majora’s Mask remade, they may give us what we want. Neither game has been confirmed until a recent interview with Miyamoto by IGN where Miyamoto mentioned that one was going to be made, but wasn’t sure at the moment of which and with the 3DS already out and the Wii U just around the corner, for what system it would be best to remake the game for.

“We haven’t quite decided yet, whether we’re going to do A Link to the Past, because there’s also the possibility of doing a remake of Majora’s Mask. This is something we’ve certainly been talking about and doing a little bit of experimenting with, to figure out which way we’re going to go. (Fans will have to wait) just a little while longer (to hear a decision).

We have so many goals right now. We’re always looking at expanding our audience and giving people the opportunity to get their hands on 3DS and see what kind of fun gaming experiences they can have. And now, we’re also tasked with pushing the Wii U. So we have lots of good opportunities in terms of thinking about which Zelda game is going to be best for which purpose.” - Shigeru Miyamoto

Since both systems were mentioned by Mr. Miyamoto it leads me to believe that we will see both games being remade on the 3DS and the other on the Wii U. As I mentioned earlier Miyamoto has said that he would like to see A Link to the Past on the 3DS. In a past interview when talking about Ocarina of Time for the 3DS, he also mentioned that Ocarina of Time was meant to be enjoyed on the big screen as a home console title. As we all know it ended up being on the 3DS which makes me think Majora’s Mask will be remade for the 3DS as well, but if both games were to be remade this would mean A Link to the Past may be remade for the Wii U, which doesn’t make much sense as A Link to the Past would seem to be a better handheld remake with a 3D effect, while Majora’s Mask being displayed on the big screen with HD graphics would suit it the best as Miyamoto said about Ocarina of Time.

It is a lot to take in for any Zelda fan, but it seems that we are in fact going to get one remake and with a little luck both. Which game do you want to see remade and for which console would you like to play it on? Massively improved textures, Models Upgraded, bugs fixed, improved the water temple, More content added in, etc.

I'd prefer them to stop re-making their games and focus on either a new IP or another series. Let the developers create another Zelda game without having to worry about re-making an older one,and have other departments focusing on more creative games. Nintendo needs to seriously step their game up with the WiiU to bring back the core gamers and so far they haven't convinced me to but their system yet.*



*Damn my addiction to Harvest Moon. They've announced a WiiU version so I'll have to buy the damn system sooner or later, but still my point stands...

So did I, but my point stands: don't touch A Link to the Past. The game still holds it's own against many new ones and, unlike other gems like KotOR, it's gameplay hasn't aged badly.

Majora's Mask on the 3ds sounds like a no-brainer. I just worry at the inabilty to really see what is going on since that game required a bit more looking around and observing than OoT did.

However, didn't they already remake A Link To The Past? I am quite sure they called it Ocarina Of Time. *snkr snkr*

Completely agree...A Link to the Past is still an amazing game to play and should never ever be altered.

I don't really see the need for a remake of A link to the Past. The game was perfect during it's time and still is, as well there's that port on the GBA version that gives off some neat features and added stuff.

Honestly Majora's Mask could use a remake and a few retouches though. There's always some things that can be fixed on that game which I never even bothered beating.

I loved link to the past, my favorite zelda game. I'd be all for a remix of it. If they do, I'd have to look into purchasing that system its on... just for that game me thinks.

The DS games used that art style, so i guess you could call those wind waker sequels.

The wind Waker had 2 sequels Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. Although they were not the best sequels but they were sequels none the less.

Hourglass wasn't bad, but Spirit Tracks was just was awful. The boat was bad enough but the train had to be the worst mode of transportation ever in a game.

I can't find a copy of Windwaker to save my life. And I think I am going to have trouble with GCN Twilight Princess as well. >_>
