Xbox 360 has 4GB as the base.
On the wii u you can use External drives of any size as long as it is SD Cards, and USB Drives up to 2 TB.
a simple 20$ gets you the same storage space as the wii u deluxe

for 40$ more you never have to worry about HDD space ever again

I don't like sony's small HDD drives they include in their consoles, but i don't bitch about it, i just upgrade because sony allows you to upgrade the HDD (Except in the new Super slim models that are outside the US.)
Xbox 360's base Console is 4 GBs.
Sony's is 16 GB (super slim has a 16 GB SSD in some countries.)
Wii U Basic is 8Gbs. Right in the middle.
Wii U's Deluxe has 32 gb.
your average person isn't going to be downloading massive amounts of gaming content on their console. they mainly buy disc games and nothing else.

^And those stats being all fine and good an all. Nintendo Wii U is supposed to be a "next gen" system. The base model should've been the 32GB model.

That's what Microsoft did with the 4g model. I remember being in stores the January after Kinect launched and there were so many upset parents because they now had to buy the 150$ harddrive. They thought they were getting a better deal (199.99 for xbox and 249.99 for a ps3) but in the end it cost them so much more.
As I have said, stupid people are a salesman's best friend

Total Awards: 9Wrong.
Maximum usable storage on the Wii U Basic in 3.2GB.
Maximum usable storage on the Wii U Elite is 25GB.
Maximum usable storage on an out-of-the-box PS3 is about 450GB.
Maximum usable storage on an out-of-the-box 360 is about 220GB.
Huge disparity. The Wii U is the ONLY console that forces gamers to purchase additional storage, no matter which SKU they buy.

Parents are just suckers for their kids and they'll buy them the machine to just shut them up. My son said he wants the WII U and we said that their is no difference between the new machine and the original based on kids games. Look at the new Mario game does the game look like it's worth paying 400-450 bucks for it in my opinion it's no different then New Super Mario Bros Wii. My other son said we'll just get you a fire truck and when you turn the siren on the sound will be WII U WII U WII U and then you'll have your WII U which we all bursted out laughing to.

Total Awards: 8That's some small storage space for the Wii U for a "next generation" console. Should of had much bigger storage. I think that will bite Nintendo in the butt a year later after the next Playstation and Xbox console hits.

honestly seems Nintendo is trapped on a time bubble....always behind competition...... both hardware and games (either look outdated or ports games when they're already out for the other consoles and already lost all the hype), and we're in 2012........8gb???? 32gb?????? really????? thats mocking the gamers........ even 250-320-500gb (xbox360-ps3) standards feels small by the current games size....... i was once Nintendo Fan (nes, snes and n64) but now i see this is all the Wii history repeating itself.......

I thought about it, and while I am upset at the miniscule size of available space, I know it will be cheaper and easier for both Nintendo and myself to do it this way. So, I'm pretty neutral on this subject.
