Total Awards: 9Have money, will spend.
High-end PC gaming has always been a niche target market. I've never blinked twice at blowing $1K on a CPU or GPU alone. $2700 isn't a bad deal for a laptop gaming rig, and the Switchblade UI is pretty nifty.
I'll wait for the reviews before committing but I am genuinely tempted, along with Razer's Project Fiona PC gaming tablet.

That laptop doesn't really do it for me. I would much rather spend the money on a desktop which i could put together for a much more reasonable price and have better specs.

Seems your paying a whole lotta scratch for the Switcblade UI, and some fancy design scheme. For that price you could get a pretty maxed out EON17-S, with a far better CPU, GPU and well pretty much everything better if a gaming laptop is what your after.
My problem with gaming laptops has always been heat dispersion (Why they keep putting the intake and exhaust vents on the bottom is beyond me) and crappy battery life, especially when gaming.

Total Awards: 9The old utilitarian beige brigade defense...nice one comrade. I already have one of those.
When considering a purchase such as this, utility isn't the primary deciding factor. Aesthetics, innovation and mobility play a big role too.
It's a big boy's toy and status symbol for those with dough to blow, plain and simple...the same reason people own fancy cars, luxury boats and expensive jewellery. I don't care for any of those, I like my toys techy and shiny.
While you're at it plugin a bigger display and an external HDD...kinda defeats the purpose of mobility.
A valid argument, but this device is targeting emotional buyers, not logical ones. I don't want a better gaming laptop, I want a cool one that few others possess.
The reality is I won't be buying one, I've done gaming laptops in the past and they have limited lifespans due to heat dispersal and limited capability compared to a desktop. It's just a neat looking bit of new tech and I wants the precious!Last edited by ant1th3s1s; 04-18-2012 at 12:20 PM.

I knew it lol
Don't get me wrong though. Anyone who has the financial fortitude to plunk down the cash for this machine, probably has a fairly decent gaming rig already.
Still the Razer is a really nice looking piece of mobile tech candy and I wouldn't say no if one magically arrived at my doorstep
P.S: Pretty decent review over at Engadget Razer Blade review -- Engadget

Total Awards: 9Definitely not worth the asking price, performance and battery life are lacking. I wouldn't run a laptop at 1920 x 1080 for gaming, 1280 x 720's a more realistic compromise.
You're right...if one magically appeared I wouldn't kick it out of bed, but I'm not buying it dinner.
