Source: Man Dies After Playing Diablo III for 72 HoursA 32-year old man called Russell Shirley, was found dead by his landlord after a three-day marathon of Diablo III.
According to the report, Shirley suffered a heart attack while playing Blizzard's addictive loot-fest. Apparently, Shirley lead a pretty relaxed lifestyle, and was hard pressed to use his gym membership or get some exercise.
However, two of Shirley's friends have debunked the story, saying he died due his long term suffering with apnea. They describe Shirley as a normal 32-year old man who was "charitable" and a "peerless friend", but who had trouble managing his weight due to his health problems.
Regardless of which part of the story is true, it is important to realize that taking a break every hour or so between long sessions of gaming is extremely vital.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Shirley and his family.
What are your thoughts?
I'm sorry for the guy,but he overdid it.

I did shit like that ALL the time when I used to be a WoW addict lol. 72 hours is nothing, after 96 you can start to hallucinate. Anyhow, sucks for the guy... definitely shouldnt do that kind of binge gaming if you have health problems.

Total Awards: 9Once again, gaming is a scapegoat.
Fat guy died, Diablo III was running on his PC = gaming caused his death.
Don't just take a break, stop eating so much shit and lose some weight.

Total Awards: 11That sucks, but the guy already had some health issues and on top of that he seemed primarily sedentary based on the 72 hours of straight gaming. It's always terrible when someone passes this way hence the constant warnings on your consoles, PCs and games that you should take breaks frequently. It only takes just a little bit of physical activity to start being a healthier person.
Again, I feel for the family and all, but things like this can be prevented most of the time.

Sad to hear, but honestly he had it coming. However I’m pretty sure plenty of guys play MW3 online for more than 3 days straight

....If he already had health problems, why did he think staying up for 72 hours playing a video game would be a good idea?

Total Awards: 7Yikes. That does suck. I'm not the fittest of individuals, and I have had more than my share of marathon sessions ( mine only go for 12-15 hours though....). But still... 3 DAYS playing Diablo 3? i get a headache nowadays after only 3-4 hours.

Yeah i agree with Chambers on this, even though he died in a way most gamers would love to die (playing one of the best games ever made) what you posted it was pretty fucked up how would you feel if your dad/mom/brother/sister ended up in horrible accident and we all said hey they where related to a dick so no sympathy from us
