BioWare the company behind the Mass Effect series have announced the Mass Effect Trilogy. Mass Effect is a role-playing video game. In the game series you play as Commander Shepard. Commander Shepard's primary mission in the series is to defend the planet from an enemy known as the reapers. He will not be doing this alone though as he will have a team of others that will help. There has yet to be a release date announced for the PS3 version of the Mass Effect Trilogy.
Today as the title states BioWare has announced a Mass Effect Trilogy. The trilogy will include both Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 which both were released for the PS3 already. The special thing about the trilogy is something that will be a first for the PS3. That special thing being that for the first time Mass Effect the first game in the series is also included in the trilogy. Mass Effect 1 will also be on PSN for those of you that already have Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3.

I look forward to playing ME1... wish i didn't have to re-purchase the 2 & 3 in order to do so.

Is that so?
Would they really spend all that time and money on making it for PS3?
I have my doubts, but it would be great, I'd definitely pick it up. Haven't played ME3 yet so it'd be a good time to get the trilogy.
But for some reason I still find it pretty hard to believe ME1 will really be for PS3.

For once stubbornly refusing to play a series without playing the earlier entries pays off!

Total Awards: 9i find it funny that a few years ago when bioware announced mass effect 2 was coming to the ps3 they said in no uncertain terms that the first game would remain a microsoft exclusive, keep those lies coming fellas

I just read over on the .org site that the first Mass Effect is going to be available as a stand alone psn download.

Nice. I was actually talking about this with my brother the other day, that it'd be nice to have ME1 on the PS3, and now it turns out that it is. It was one of the few games I had on the 360 so I'm looking forward to playing it again.
Thanks for this bit man, now I don't have to worry about buying the whole collection.

I really don't see this coming to PS3 as a "trilogy" considering, ya know, Microsoft (Sony's competitor) owns the publishing rights. Maybe Mass Effect 2 and 3 together, but not the original.
Edit: Holy hell it actually is coming to PS3. That's it. This confirms it. 2012 is in fact the end of the world.

Total Awards: 3This will piss all my XBox mates off, seeing that I can play Mass Effect 1 on my console, and it'll cost me a hell of a lot less than what they paid for Mass Effect 1-3

Total Awards: 5Well in all fairness, when they said that, it was true. Because the decision to put ME1 on the PS3 wasn't Bioware's to make. It was Microsoft's since they own the rights to it, not Bioaware. The real question is how much did M$ charge Sony to get the game, or what other kick back is M$ going to get. Because what I find suspect about all of this is, M$ did it for the fans and not some financial gain. I mean there is a reason why Microsoft is commonly referred to as M"$" and not M"S" lol

Total Awards: 11Well I think it's confirmed.
Through this trilogy, the original Mass Effect will be playable on PlayStation 3 for the first time. It will also be released as a standalone title via PlayStation Network.
