Even though the screens aren't the greatest, I'm still excited for this game.

Looks pretty but I'm still not convinced about the gameplay itself...

I too enjoyed the gameplay in X-2 and found it pretty fun even with the silly story. As for lightning returns I will most likely buy it on release but I am a bit concerned about gameplay. No party members, more action based and something I have always hated in games time based events you can easily miss by simply not being in the right place at the right time. I'm still hoping it will be good though.

The sad thing is that I still have 13 finished, but needing to finishing the quests for platinum, I literally started 13-2 and put it down and moved to other games, yet I'll still get this day 1. Sigh. Damn this spell they have me under.

if you have played previous FF games then you will clearly see who is "ignorant" and that i have a really good reason for my "negativity".
Square-enix has driven it's best selling franchise to the ground and this "XIII" Saga is nothing like Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9 & X which are true gems and masterpieces. the only positive thing that it's not as bad as Final Fantasy XII.

I'm looking forward to this like I do with all Final Fantasy games.

The only problem with the newer games is the fact that they are less open. This is due to the power limitations of the machines. You options if you want 7, 8 and 9 freedom are:
A) Load about 3 times to get roughly the same area as the Archylte Steppe in Gran Pulse on Final Fantasy XIII.
or
B) Give up high graphics quality to enable more 3D rendering for the map you are on.
The systems we use now are very limited by the RAM built in to them. The PS3 has 512 MB of RAM with 256 MB of it reserved to run the actual system. For comparison, my machine I am on now has 8 GB (8000 MB) of RAM. Most machines have at least 1 GB (1000 MB). With the current generation of consoles it just isn't possible to allow players the same freedom they had when we played with characters on which we can count the pixels.
