Not too long after Mark Cerny's presentation of Knack, the PlayStation 4's social features and myriad of networking capabilities, Gorilla Games announced the console's second confirmed game Killzone: Shadow Fall. It's the second confirmed game for the the PS4. Guerrilla Games explains that the Helghast have evolved and claimed genetic superiority while attempting to preserve their way of life. Taking place after the events of Killzone 3, which borrowed heavily from the events of World War 2, the new conflict now draws parallels to Cold War Berlin.
The game was presented in real time on the PS4, with a developer playing it on-stage. The game has the graphical fidelity of a PC title, and appears to sport takedown mechanics similar to Far Cry 3's. At one point, the player jumps down on an unaware enemy, taking him down with a knife, and throwing the same knife at a nearby enem essentially taking down two enemies in one attack. After a shit ton of shooting, he jumps and chases down the retreating Helghast and grabs onto a rope as the Helghast dropship makes its way off. A chase across the city ensues as the protagonist clings to the rope. Eventually, he destroys it with C4, jumps to safety, and the trailer ends. A little trailer below.

Total Awards: 11So what exactly is it to the KZ series? A new trilogy? Taking place between the other games? A continuation after 3?

Hahaha, yeah, should be Guerrilla Games.
This trailer got me so pumped, I'm gonna play KZ3 for the rest of the night, as I never really played it that much. This and Mercenary have me really excited for the franchise this year. It would be awesome if they put some cross-entitlements in both games for owning/playing them both.

As I watched the video of the presentation and hearing the intro guy talk about the history of the KZ world, I could not help but think he was a fucking moron.
Nothing that he said made any sense to the past wars and conflicts as told by the games.
I'm not very impressed at the first glimpses, it appears to be more KZ3 style storytelling-/-gaming. Not bad, but I expected better, different. We shall see.

Total Awards: 4I only ever played the original Killzone on PS2 (never even finished SP), but I'm really keen for this game. It looks absolutely fantastic.
The artistic direction seems to have shifted dramatically as well, which is a welcome change.
