Jens Bergensten, lead designer of Minecraft Pocket Edition for iOS and Android, told iGamer (via Edge): "Microsoft has an exclusivity deal for consoles. When it runs out we'll consider Minecraft for PlayStation, but Wii U is very unlikely." Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition broke day-one XBLA sales records and became "profitable in an hour" following its launch last May, according to series creator Markus 'Notch' Persson. It cleared five million sales in January 2013.
Though the assumption is that Minecraft would receive a PlayStation 3 port, given the timing with PlayStation 4 launching at the end of the year a next-generation release might be possible. A PS4 port may also be easier to develop, since the system is based on x86 architecture as opposed to the PS3's Cell processor. Minecraft sales recently surpassed 20 million copies across all platforms.

Total Awards: 13That'd be good, I would love Minecraft on the PS3. But they just say "Playstation", so perhaps a Vita version? That would also be cool.

If they do, I want to see them try to bring support for tekkit and Voltz and all those other awesome mods

also; because they state "playstation" systems, I think this may be a release for all platforms, Vita, PS3 and PS4 as some sort of cross buy thing? no?

It better be on PS4, then - the relatively low memory of the PS3 might mean even smaller worlds than the 360 has, and they're just tiny

Total Awards: 11I'm going to be the first person to say YAWN. I would never buy a terrible looking game such as this even if there is gameplay value to it.

Might buy if there is a disc version for the game. That is why I waited for Journey Collectors Edition and the Walking Dead disc.
