Just Confirmed today, Bioware have announced that there will be a Multiplayer Component in the upcoming highly anticipated title, Mass Effect 3. This will be the first time Multiplayer has come to the Franchise.
There has been rumours based around a possible Multiplayer component for a few months now, and the time has come for the truth to be revealed. The Features were confirmed by an Australian PC Gaming Magazine, as they traveled to Bioware's HQ in Edmonton to speak with Casey Hudson, and give the new features a spin.
"That's right - Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer!" is the claim. "We travel to BioWare's office in Edmonton for hands-on time with the series' first foray into online gameplay, and chat with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson about the decision to go multiplayer in the epic battle for the galaxy".
The Tagline 'Fight alongside your friends' was thrown in, and hints at possible Cooperative type missions, rather than Full-blown Competitive Modes such as Team Deathmatch, or full campaign co-op.
Coming from Eurogamer, they have apparent sources that say Mass Effect 3 includes an online enabled co-op mode that is standalone, and features competitive elements, which no doubt will require the use of EA's Online Pass System.
While we don't know what type of Multiplayer will be apart of Mass Effect 3, we now defintely know it's there. Stay Tuned.
What are your thoughts on this? Personally, I don't believe it suits being in Mass Effect, but as long as it doesn't affect the Single Player Experience in any way, it won't bother me.
Update: It will be Cooperative. Not Competitive, Casey Confirmed it on Facebook.

Yes, co-op MP missions for ME3: they're real, and they're spectacular. Rest assured it's nothing of what you've feared."
