[top]Introduction

Escape Plan, the new puzzle game on the block and a launch title for the Playstation Vita, is a charming and witty game developed by Fun Bits Interactive. In the game you play as two different characters, Lil and Laarg, as you navigate them through a series of difficult levels by utilizing the Vita's multitouch screen, back panel, and motion controls.

Similar to games such as Portal, Escape Plan boasts fantastic level design, humor, and loads of entertainment. Thanks to this, Escape Plan looks to be one of the Vita's finest launch titles, and one that should be on your list as you look into buying your own device.

[top]Tips & Strategies

- The number of times Lil and Laarg have died are displayed on their bodies, respectively. Use this to your advantage.

- Feel free to experiment and explore new ways to die within each level. Despite how sadistic it sounds, figuring out ways to die is one of the most fun parts of Escape Plan!

- The game itself is actually pretty short, clocking in at only around 5 hours or so. Don't feel down because it's recommended you play the game 4 times to get the plat, in reality you're not going to be spending all too much time on the game if you don't want to.

- Trial and error is generally the best way to figure out how to solve a puzzle and get through a level.

[top]Roadmap

1) Optional - Play the game once just for kicks, and try to learn and master each level. It will help you dearly as you continue on with your plat run.

2) Play through the game, making sure you die in every level. During this time, try to collect as many Warning Signs as possible.

3) Play through the game a second time, or use chapter select in order to replay every level that you did not 3-star your first time around. If you missed any Warning Signs, now is the time to grab them.

4) Bite down on something hard, enter Challenge Mode, and beat the game in under 20 combined deaths for Lil and Laarg.

5) Ding!

A Clean Escape
In challenge mode, complete the entire game in less than 20 deaths combined for Lil and Laarg

This is the only gold trophy in the game, and for good reason. It's undoubtedly the one trophy that can give you some serious problems, as you're only given a total of 20 deaths to complete the entire game on its hardest difficulty. If you don't want to damage your new Vita in frustration with this, it's suggested you don't try for it.

But in all seriousness, you're only given 20 deaths. You can constantly see how many deaths you've accumulated by adding the numbers on Lil and Laarg's bodies to get your total amount of deaths.

What makes this trophy so frustrating is that you could be on the last level and get that 21st death, and all your hard work would be put to waste, as you'd be forced to start the entire game over again. .gif" border="0" alt="" title="X X" class="inlineimg" /> Yup, it sucks.

Here are some general tips to decrease your deaths.

- Despite it being recommended that you attempt this on your fourth playthrough, take your time on each level. Closely survey each level's traps, tricks, and try to remember how to complete each one BEFORE you try anything. Remember, you won't be going for stars on this playthrough, so don't worry about how much time you spend on each level.

- Make sure you have control of the controls! Yes, I know that sounded weird, but what I mean to say by this is that Escape Plan has a weird control scheme and it CAN cause deaths quite often. Make sure you have a good handle on things before doing risky actions, such as 'pinching' Lil while he's on a caffeine rush to make him run fast.

A Cautionary Tale
Collect all the warning signs

There are a total of 30 Warning Signs in the game. You can see how many you have found within a specific level, and how many you have left to find. This makes finding these collectibles more painless, as most levels are short and easy and the Warning Signs aren't all too difficult to find so long as you do a little exploration.

*Guide to come.*

Starry Night
Earn 3 stars in every level

The amount of stars your earn in each level is determined by how long it takes you to complete the level, and how many gestures* you've used in order to complete it. Each level is different in that the requirements for earning three stars differ from one to the next. For instance, one level may require you to complete it in under 30 seconds using only 5 gestures, while another may require you complete it in 1 minute using less than 50 gestures.

It is not possible to see how much time you've taken and how many gestures you've made until you've completed the level. In order to three star all, you're ultimately going to have to use trial and error and repeat levels until you've got three stars in all of them. Once you've done so, the trophy will pop.

*A Gesture in Escape Plan is actually how many times you've tapped the screen or back touch panel.

Death Comes for Ye
Die in every level in Escape Plan

In Escape Plan you'll be dying... A lot. Thankfully, the game rewards you for it. Upon dying once in every level, you'll earn this trophy.

It's quite possible to earn this trophy through basic progression, though it's not necessarily very likely. If you're someone who utilizes trial and error, you might be able to earn this trophy without even trying.

In every level, there's always a way to die. In later levels this is much more obvious as you'll find a plethora of traps at your disposal. However, in earlier levels it might be difficult to find a way to kill yourself. My suggestion? Literally just tap everything in the entire room on both the touch screen and back panel of the Vita. You're ought to trigger something to happen!

[top]
A Lil Problem
Kill Lil in 5 different ways

It's highly likely you'll achieve this trophy through natural progression as you make your way through the game. There are literally dozens of different ways to die in Escape Plan, though for some you might need to be a little creative in order to successfully kill yourself. Ways to die include falling, getting swatted, getting smashed to a wall, running into poisonous air, getting shot with a blowdart by a Minion, getting electrocuted, and many more.

... Hell, it'd probably be easier to compile of list how ways not to die in this game.

Just pick five of the ones listed above, and die by them 5 times with Lil for this trophy to pop.

A Laarg Problem
Kill Laarg in 5 different ways

Test Subjects
Use sheep as test subjects in 6 levels

Sheep are little blobs that are noticeably shorter than every other character in the game, and walk and move on all fours. They somewhat resemble sheep, (shocker there) and you'll often see them being picked on by Minions.

In order for it to count as you using a sheep as a test subject, you must actually kill it with one of the level's traps. This can be done by luring the sheep into a trap by touching the back-panel where you want them to go. They'll follow, and if you led them into a trap, they'll be killed. Stupendous.

Do this in 6 different levels and the trophy will pop. You'll be able to find sheep in a plethora of levels, so killing one in six shouldn't be too much of a problem.

[top]
Trippin
Trip up Lil in 5 rooms

This is actually a pretty easy trophy to obtain, despite the rather vague description. In order to get the trophy, you'll literally have to trip Lil 5 in 5 different rooms.

When Lil walks over a small object, he trips and dies, splattering is wet, gooey, black blood across your screen. Yummy. Simply get him to do this 5 times in 5 different rooms and you'll earn the trophy.

Here's a few levels where you can successfully trip Lil:
The Little Things
Tap That

[top]
Splatter Fest
Kill minions in 12 different rooms

Minions are annoying little buggers that first show up early on. Think of these annoyances as the common enemies throughout the game. Some will shoot blow darts at you, others will just be annoying or stand there idle.

Since neither Lil or Laarg can use any violent acts, in order to kill these Minions, you need to use the levels traps. Simply lure them into aggro-ing at Lil or Laarg, and then spring the trap(s) yourself. This will effectively kill the minions and make the levels easier for you.

Once you've killed 12 of these bastards, each in a different level, you'll earn this trophy.

[top]
Prison Escape
Escape the Prison

This is a story-related trophy and cannot be missed.

In order to escape the Prison, you will need to complete the first two sections of the game, or the first 57 levels. Upon doing so you'll be greeted with this trophy.

[top]
Quittin' Time
Escape the Factory

This is a story-related trophy and cannot be missed.

In order to Escape the Factory, you'll need to complete the third and fourth section of the game. Once you do so, the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Out of the Dumps
Escape the Dumps

This is a story-related trophy and cannot be missed.

In order to escape the Dumps, you'll need to complete the fifth and sixth section of the game. Upon doing so, you'll earn this trophy.

[top]
Rock It!
Escape the Workshop

This is a story-related trophy and cannot be missed.

In order to escape the Workshop, you will need to complete the final two sections of the game. Once you do so, this trophy will pop.
