[top]Roadmap

1. Start a game on Hero Difficulty
Yeah, I'm serious, even if you've played the game before. Start on Hero difficulty and learn the basics... or for the veterans: get back into it. You need to obtain Heros Never Give Up anyway at some point, so why not right away? You might also want to go for Sorcery Master while you are playing on Hero mode. You don't need to finish the game on this difficulty. Once you have obtained those two trophies and feel comfortable with the combat system, you can....
2. Start a new game on Hard Difficulty
Start a game on Hard and make sure to defeat Doku in Chapter 2. This is going to be tough, and a lot of cursing and swearing is going to be involved, but this will save you half a playthrough, so bite down on something hard and beat that sonoffabitch. After you've beaten Doku, continue playing up to the end of chapter 9 to unlock the White Tiger Helmet and the Azure Dragon Helmet. After beating Alma, save the game and proceed to:
3. Beat the game on Very Hard Difficulty (this step is optional but highly recommended)

You could just beat Doku again in chapter 2 to unlock Master Ninja difficulty. However, beating the game on Very Hard unlocks the Grip of Murder costume, which will help a lot with your Master Ninja ranks on Master Ninja difficulty. So unless you are a NGS pro you should not skip this step.
4. Beat the game on Master Ninja Difficulty while getting Master Ninja rank for every chapter
Pffft, piece of cake, right?
5. Get platinum coins for every Ninja Trial.
There are 76 trials any you have to beat all of them at least 4 times to get a platinum coin. You'll get bronze for beating a trial on normal, unlocking hard, silver is for beating the trial on hard, unlocking very hard... gold is for beating the damn thing on very hard, unlocking master ninja... well, and guess what? You'll get a platinum coin for beating the challenge on Master Ninja. The good news is: There are 76 plats involved. The bad news is: 304 completions are going to take a while. Good luck.

[top]Trophies

[top]
True Ultimate Ninja
Collect all trophies.

Hardest Vita plat by far. If you want a portable challenge, go for it. With enough skills and (more important) patience you will call this baby yours after 120-150 hours.

[top]
Dragon Sword Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Dragon Sword.

This is your starting weapon in Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus and you'll be using it a lot. The trophy will unlock after you've killed your 1000th enemy with this blade. Kills stack across story mode and Ninja Trials. I got this trophy after my 50th or 60th kill in the first Trials, seems I was pretty close in story mode.

[top]
Vigoorian Flail Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Vigoorian Flail.

You'll find the Flail in a chest in chapter 9, just after you took the huge circular elevator downwards. After you've killed your 1,000th enemy with it this trophy will unlock. Kills stack across story mode and Ninja Trials. The Vigoorian Flail is an excellent weapon for smaller enemies like Bats, Spirits or Ghost Fish.

Note: There is one of the best farming spots for Yellow Essence just around the corner from where you found this weapon. Check the Farming Tips in the Tips & Strategies section for more info.

[top]
Dabilahro Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Dabilahro.

On Normal and Hard Difficulty, Muramasa will trade this weapon for 20 or 25 Golden Scarabs. If you are playing on Very Hard or Master Ninja, you can obtain it as early as in Chapter 7, after you got the Incendiary Shuriken: Watch out for a cracked door on Great Bridge Square and throw an Incendiary Shuriken at it. Go inside and use a wall run from the right side to reach the upper ledge. Jump to the adjacent ledge and open the chest to find the Dabilahro. It's a powerful two-handed weapon which cuts through fiends and dinos like a hot knife through butter. Fully upgrade it asap to make your life in NGS+ easier. As with the other weapons kills stack across story mode and Ninja Trials. Once you've slaughtered your 1,000th enemy the trophy will unlock.

[top]
War Hammer Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the War Hammer (Hayabusa).

You can obtain this weapon in Chapter 10. After you've defeated Alma there will be a cut-scene. See how they zoom in on this sexy war hammer towards the end? They are doing this for a reason. Head back inside the monastery and grab your new weapon. Again, kills stack across story mode and Ninja Trials. Kill 1,000 enemies using the Warhammer and the trophy will be yours.

[top]
Kitetsu Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Kitetsu.

You can get this weapon at the end of Chapter 15. After you've killed Doku check out the arena and you can't really miss it. There are only three chapters to come, so unless you want to overuse this weapon in the Ninja Trials you might want to farm some kills with it on the last couple of ambushes. You know, kills stack, but three chapters ain't much...

[top]
Dual Katana Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Dual Katana.

You can find the Dragon's Claw and Tiger's Fang as early as in Chapter 3 (Fore Room). The blades are fast, easy to use and it looks awesome to wield them. Again, kills stack across story mode and Ninja Trials. Slice through 1000 enemies and this trophy will unlock.

[top]
Lunar Staff Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Lunar Staff.

You can find the Lunar Staff near the beginning of Chapter 4. It's a powerful and fast weapon with a good range. Kills stack across story mode and Ninja Trials, so just hack away and your trophy will pop after the 1,000th kill.

[top]
Wooden Sword/Unlabored Flawlessness Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Wooden Sword/Unlabored Flawlessness.

Upgrading the Wooden Sword to level 7 will turn it into the Unlabored Flawlessness. This will cost you, it's 40,000 from level 6 to level 7 alone, but it is worth it. The Unlabored Flawlessness is one of the mightiest weapons in the game. It's rather slow though, so you might not want to use it for wasps or ghost fish. All the kills with both Wooden Sword and Unlabored Flawlessness count towards this trophy and like with the other weapons kills stack across story mode and Ninja Trials. Kill 1,000 enemies with it and the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Rachel Master
Defeat 500 enemies with Rachel.

Rachel... Unlike in the original Ninja Gaiden game, Rachel is a playable character in Ninja Gaiden Sigma +. You will only play as Rachel in three chapters though, sou unless you do some farming at one of the fiend challenges you won't get 500 kills with her on one playthrough. No worries though, you'll get your trophy on the next playthrough or in Ninja Trial mode. After she has killed her 500th enemy your trophy will unlock.

[top]
Projectile Weapons Master
Defeat 100 enemies with projectile weapons.

All projectile weapons count towards this so you should really get it in no time. Keep throwing those shurikens and shooting these arrows and the trophy will eventually unlock.

[top]
Feat of Ultimate Destruction
Use the strongest Ultimate Technique on 100 enemies.

To perform an Ultimate Technique you have to press and hold to charge. Each weapon has an Ultimate Technique, and each Ultimate Technique has two levels. Since this trophy requires you to perform the strongest Ultimate Technique you'll want to charge your attack until you've reached the second level. Hold and press and after about one second you'll see a blueish flash around Ryu. This means you've just reached the first level of your Ultimate Technique. Don't let go but wait for another second until you see a red flash. This is it, we have a go! Release and watch Rye wreak havoc amongst his enemies. Note that you can use yellow essence to shorten the time Rye needs to charge his Ultimate Technique. Just don't collect the essence (if you block with you can't collect it accidentally) but press and hold while there is yellow essence around. You won't lose anything, since you'll get a vast amount of essence for kills with the strongest Ultimate Technique. It's just win!

Note: This trophy description is a bit misleading: Even if you kill multiple enemies with the same Ultimate Technique this will still only count for one. Actually you have to successfully use an Ultimate Technique for 100 times, no matter how many enemies you manage to kill in the process.

[top]
Izuna Drop Master
Use the Izuna Drop on 100 enemies.

To perform an Izuna Drop press while standing next to an enemy. The timing is important, use to launch your enemy and yourself into the air, press when you are at the highest point. If done correctly, Rye will grab his unlucky opponent and pile-drive him head-first into the ground. Note that this doesn't work with every weapon, you'll need to use the Dragon Sword, the Dual Katanas, the Kitetsu or the Plasma Saber. It seems that you actually need to hold the scroll; on normal you can buy it in Chapter 3 after upgrading your Dragon Sword for the first time. On hard you'll get the scroll as a reward for 5 Golden Scarabs. After your 100th Izuna Drop the trophy will pop.

[top]
Guillotine Throw Master
Use the Guillotine Throw on 100 enemies.

To perform a Guillotine Throw jump over an opponent and press + when Ryu is near its head. If done correctly Ryu will grab his opponent and throw him. Successfully perform this move 100 times to receive your trophy.

[top]
Fire Wheels Master
Use Fire Wheels successfully 100 times.

Fire Wheels is one of Ryu's Ninpo techniques. You'll find the scroll at the beginning of chapter 2. To equip it, hit and select Ninpo Fire Wheels. Now all you have to do is to use it successfully for 100 times and the trophy will unlock.

To use the technique successfully all you have to do is to activate the Ninpo technique by pressing + and to complete the rear touch-pad mini-game. The last part is crucial, if you fail to (or don't bother to) complete the mini game it won't count towards the trophy.

The good news it that there don't have to be any enemies involved, so you don't have to get this while fighting if you don't want to. You can either get this trophy while you are going for True Heroes Never Give Up, since you'll have unlimited Ninpo when Hero Mode is triggered, or you could just grind the trophies next to a Team Ninja logo (see Thanks For Finding Me! for more details) since touching a Team Ninja logo will fully restore your health and Ninpo. Conveniently enough there is a logo right at the end of chapter 18, you can't really miss it. I recommend doing your grinding there, as your Ninpo slots will be maxed out and you'll hopefully have acquired all the techniques by then.

[top]
Inferno Master
Use Inferno successfully 100 times.

NOTE: For some reason this Ninpo has to be upgraded to level 3, otherwise it won't count.

[top]
Ice Storm Master
Use Ice Storm successfully 100 times.

NOTE: For some reason this Ninpo has to be upgraded to level 3, otherwise it won't count.

[top]
Inazuma Master
Use Inazuma successfully 100 times.

I recommend doing your grinding there, as your Ninpo slots will be maxed out and you'll hopefully have acquired all the techniques by then.

NOTE: For some reason this Ninpo has to be upgraded to level 3, otherwise it won't count.

[top]
Sorcery Master
Use Sorcery successfully 100 times.

This one is very missable. The Sorcery is Rachel's Ninpo The Blades of Ouroboros. Rachel only has two Ninpo slots and you don't unlock her sorcery until Chapter 8. I highly recommend going for this in Hero Mode. Just spam the Blades of Ouroboros when you have unlimited Ninpo until the trophy pops.

[top]
Cleared The Way of the Ninja
Completed Chapter 1.

This trophy is story related and can't be missed.
Just complete the first chapter and you will be awarded this trophy. Chapter 1 can be hard on Very Hard or Master Ninja difficulty, since you wield your n00bish level 1 Dragon Sword and can't even counter yet. However, it isn't too tough on normal or hard, which are the hardest difficulties you can start on at your first playthrough, so you shouldn't have any issues obtaining this trophy.

[top]
Cleared The Fiend Hunter
Completed Chapter 5.

This trophy is story related and can't be missed.
You will be awarded this trophy after you've beaten the 5th chapter, regardless of the difficulty you are playing on.

[top]
Cleared Tairon Under Alert
Completed Chapter 10.

This trophy is story related and can't be missed.
You will be awarded this trophy after you've beaten the 10th chapter, regardless of the difficulty you are playing on.

[top]
Cleared The Caverns
Completed Chapter 15.

This trophy is story related and can't be missed.
You will be awarded this trophy after you've beaten the 15th chapter, regardless of the difficulty you are playing on.

[top]
First Clear
Finish all chapters of the game.

This trophy is story related and can't be missed.
You will be awarded this trophy after you've beaten the game for the first time, regardless of the difficulty level.

[top]
Cleared Hard.
Finish all chapters of the game on Hard.

Just beat the game on hard and this trophy will unlock. Note that difficulty trophies stack in NGS+, so you can get this trophy together with Cleared Very Hard or even Cleared Master Ninja.

[top]
Cleared Very Hard.
Finish all chapters of the game on Very Hard.

Just beat the game on very hard and this trophy will unlock. Note that difficulty trophies stack in NGS+, so you can get this trophy together with Cleared Master Ninja. However, it is recommended to beat Very Hard for the Grip of Murder costume. See the Roadmap for details.

[top]
Cleared Master Ninja.
Finish all chapters of the game on Master Ninja.

Like the description says: Beat the game on Master Ninja and you'll be awarded this trophy. Good news everyone: Difficulty trophies stack in NGS+. However, in order to beat Master Ninja Difficulty you have to unlock it first. This means you have to beat the game on Hard to unlock Very Hard and then beat the game again on Very Hard to unlock Master Ninja. "But nauGie you n00b, you said "Good news everyone! " Hehe, yeah I did, because fortunately there is a way around this. If you manage to beat Doku at the end of Chapter 2 this will automatically unlock the next difficulty. So you can beat him on Hard to unlock Very Hard and then beat him again for Master Ninja Difficulty. See the Roadmap for more details.

For general tips on how to survive on Master Ninja please study the Tips & Strategies section in this guide.

Ninja Carnage
Kill every enemy in an Ambush.

There is a total of 13 ambushes (or fiend challenges) in NGS+. Most of them are missable, only 2 or 3 are directly in your path. The first ambush can be found in Chapter 3. After you've obtained the key card, head all the way back to the beginning of the level and open the door next to your compartment. You have to kill loads of soldiers in this room (the number is depending on the difficulty). Mow them all down; Ryu will get an in-game reward and you will get another trophy. Note that there is also a Golden Scarab in this room.

See Ninja Massacre below for a complete list of all ambushes.

Your ranking depends on your Karma score, which in turn depends on a number of things: The time you needed to beat the chapter, the essence you earned, the enemies you defeated and the Ninpo you have left at the end of the chapter.

Note: The trophies for your rankings stack, so you don't really need to bother about Master Ninja Ranks until you finally go for Thanks for playing! -from Team NINJA.

Thanks for playing! -from Team NINJA
Get Master on all chapters on Master Ninja.

You'll obtain this trophy after you've earned Master Ninja Ranking on all chapters while playing on Master Ninja difficulty. Your ranking depends on your Karma score, which in turn depends on a number of things: The time you needed to beat the chapter, the essence you earned, the enemies you defeated and the Ninpo you have left at the end of the chapter. It's recommended to beat the game on Very Hard for the Grip of Murder costume, which will make it a tad easier to obtain your Master Ninja ranks. Keep multiple saves so you can reload if you fail to get Master Ninja rank in a chapter. Since all ranking trophies stack achieving this will also unlock the other ranking trophies listed above.

Heroes Never Give Up
Be a Hero 100 times.

Obviously you need to play on Hero difficulty to unlock this trophy. Hero mode is for beginners, it allows you to learn the basics of the game without dying constantly. Whenever your health is low on Hero difficulty, Ryu will start blocking automatically. Moreover, you'll have unlimited Ninpo during this time. After you've been a 'hero' (= a n00b) for the 100th time this trophy will unlock. Don't forget that you can spam Ninpo like a madman while in Hero mode. Take advantage of that, especially while playing as Rachel, since it really helps with Sorcery Master.

[top]
Thanks for Finding Me!
Find all Team NINJA logos.

Team Ninja logos will fill your health bar and your ninpo slots. Unfortunately, there are only three of them in the entire game. Find and activate them all and this trophy will unlock:
  1. Accessible in chapters 4 & 6 - Near Han's Bar, located in the alley where you can also find the Windmill Shuriken. There is some wall running involved in order to get to the ledge with the logo.
  2. Chapter 11 - Right after a mini-boss battle with two tanks. The logo is on the far left corner of this huge area, behind a pillar.
  3. Chapter 18 - Top floor of the core, right next to the save point, you can't miss it

[top]
Just Put Me On
Hold 99,999 Yellow Essence.

You need to hold 99,999 Yellow Essence at once to unlock this trophy. This is really easy when farming. Basically you can farm yellow essence at every place that has respawning enemies. However, some enemies are easier to defeat than others, and the amount of essence varies greatly, too. Most people recommend the Ghost Fish in chapter 18 as the best essence farming spot (you'll be swarmed by them at the beginning of the chapter, you can't miss it). It is a great place alright, but chapter 18 is the next to last chapter in the game, so it comes a bit late. flexlopez01 found another great place in chapter 7, where you can farm up to 10k essence per minute . After you found the Vigoorian Flails take the huge round elevator back up. Enter the corridor you came from earlier and a couple of spirits will be waiting for you just around the first corner. They take a week before they attack, so just stand next to them and press and hold until the Flail's Ultimate Attack is fully charged. Release hell upon them, then return to the elavator. Turn around and those spirits will have respawned. Rinse and repeat. Here is a video by flexlopez01 showing you the spot and how to do it. The quality isn't great but it shows you what you need to know.

Karma is the score you get for killing enemies in NGS+. The longer the combo, the higher the Karma you'll obtain. Ultimate Techniques will get you a lot of Karma, too. This number is cumulative to whatever game mode you are playing. So while you get separate Karma scores for story mode and Ninja Trials those scores are automatically added up. You'll still be far from plat when this trophy finally unlocks. Oh, to display your Karma score in story mode, hit and then press .

You'll be awarded this trophy after you've beaten the first two sets of Ninja Trials. Those aren't too bad, if you are having trouble getting platinum coins on these 10 missions you seriously need to work on your combos, because it's getting far worse.

Obtain 50 coins in Ninja Trials

You'll be awarded coins for beating the ninja trail challenges. The kind of coin you get depends on the difficulty you are playing on. You'll get a bronze coin for beating the challenge for the first time. Moreover, you'll unlock the next difficulty for this challenge. You can beat it on hard for a silver coin, on very hard for a gold coin and finally on master ninja for a platinum coin. However, you don't need to get any platinum coins for this trophy, you could also just collect 50 bronze coins and the trophy will unlock.

Coin Master
Get platinum coins in all Ninja Trials.

All you have to do to obtain a platinum coin for a challenge is to beat it on Master Ninja difficulty. Sounds easy, right? My ass! However, in order to unlock Master Ninja you have to beat the challenge on normal, hard and very hard first. This means you have to complete each and every last one of those 76 challenges 4 times in order to obtain this trophy. There is really not much I can say about this. Check the Tips & Strategies section in this guide for some basic combat tips and then practice practice practice. It's gonna take some time to achieve this trophy, so don't get frustrated but keep at it. You can do it with enough patience and determination. Good luck.
