[top]Tips and Strategies

Battle Fantasia is an intense 2D fighter that maximizes on both slower and fast speed gameplay. Go slow taking your time and setting up your moves and once you get ready it's time to speed things up and let go of combos and specials all around. There are six modes of play that go from Arcade, Story, V.S. (CPU and 2 player), Survival, Practice, and Time Attack. And if that wasn't enough you can take the fight online for Ranked, Player, and Private matches. You can also unlock images of game development in the gallery as you play.

Be warned now that though there are several easy trophies there are a few that will stand in your way of . Especially the one and only but we'll get to that later in the guide. So to wrap up the overview, there are 12 fighters with 2 seperate story lines each. And there is a ton of story here. Expect to do alot of reading but I suggest it as the writing is often very good and very funny. Each fighter is easy to pick up and play but as expected, it takes true skill to really learn the fighter and be able to dominate all.

One key term to know and understand that will be used alot in this guide is "heat up" mode. This is a state in which, once activated, your fighter will be faster, stronger, and tougher than before. Dealing more damage, taking less, and moving faster to add to combos quicker. At the bottom of the screen is a gold bar that fills up as you attack, get attacked, and or parry attacks. The bar stops filling up once your reach level 3.

By pressing while the bar at the bottom of the screen says 1-3, you will enter "heat up" mode. It only last for a short period of time and depending on the fighter depends on exactly how long. Certain moves can only be done while in "heat up" mode and all moves are enhanced. Also, you have super special moves that take 1 level of heat. So if you have at least 2 levels ready, you could enter "heat up" mode and perform a super special move for maximum damage. During any match, simply pause the game and go to command list to see all of your fighters moves.

IMPORTANT!
Upon starting this game for the first time, you must go into options and turn on auto save because it is off by default. If you do not turn it on and you do not save your game before you quit then you will loose everything you just earned. Go into options then go under save/load. From there you can turn on auto save then just hit to exit to the main menu and you'll know you did it right if it saves before you leave the options menu.

To make this easier and faster; go into options, game settings, and then change "1P Rounds" to 1. You can experiment with different fighters but with the Cpu level to very difficult you will have to have some level of skill with a fighter. When you reach the last boss, Deathbringer, you will have to fight him twice. The first time is a normal fight no big deal. But the second fight is a different story. He's power is almost doubled and all of your attacks do single digit damage. Not to mention his life almost 6X as much as it was in the first fight.

The only way to beat him the second time is by using "heat up" mode. You'll have to attack a few times to build up your meter but it builds alot faster in this last battle than before. Once in "heat up" mode your attacks deal sever damage to Deathbringer but you are only in this mode for a short period of time. I suggest having two levels of "heat up" available as to heat up with one and use the second level to perform a super special move for extra damage. During any fight simply pause the game and go to command list to see a list of your fighters moves.

Once you beat arcade mode on "very difficult" then all other difficulty trophies will unlock at the same time if you do this one first. If not, you can take on one difficulty at a time until you feel better with the game. The way I did it was to use Deathbringer and spam his special "Cursed Destrier" which is performed by starting with towards and doing a half circle to away and holding . Let go of as they are standing up and repeat process until you win.

Of course make sure to put the difficulty level to very easy and make sure to have a second controller on and ready. If you see you are going to loose the match then push on the second controller and it will start a V.S. match. Simply win that match and you'll go back to the beginning of the fight you were on before you pushed on the second controller.

The Rainbow
Unlock every character's hidden colors

In order to obtain both sets of hidden outfits for each fighter, you have to complete their story to atleast 90%. But if you're going to go that far you might as well do the full 100% so you can also unlock everything for the gallery. Each fighter has 2 story paths and you MUST win and loose every fight to get all parts of the story as well as perform hidden actions. Again....you MUST win and loose all fights and perform hidden actions (that i'll describe for you) in order to fully complete a fighters story.

A rule of thumb for me was to loose the fight the first time I got to a new part of the story so I wouldn't get confused. I would loose and then hit continue and win to move on. The good news is that by losing first, after you hit continue, you'll start the fight with 1 level of heat already. The following is a breakdown of each fighter of how to get to each story branch as well as perform all hidden acts to get 100% complete. Also keep in mind that if the battle you're about to fight can either lead to another story branch or a hidden action then you will see "GACHI BATTLE" flash on the screen before the battle starts.

Urs:
To switch to the second story path you need to beat Olivia by timeout.

Urs has no other special events.

Marco
To switch to the second story path you need to beat Olivia with your "Dyna Rush" super special performed by pressing down and quarter circle forward X2and pressing or . Make sure this move takes the last of her life.

Special Events- On the main story path you need to finish Ashley with the "Dyna Rush." On the second story path you need to finish Freed, Donvalve, Face, Urs, and Odile with the "Dyna Rush."

Cedric
To switch to the second story path you need to adjust your glasses five times against Marco. You do that by pressing down and quarter circle to away and pressing .

Cedric has no other special events.

Ashley
To switch to the second story path you need to taunt Coyori at least once.

Special Events- On the main story path you need to use "Steal Your Heart" (performed by pressing towards and half circle away and pressing or ) at least once against Olivia. It's a throw so be close. On the second story path you need to finish the fight with any super special against Donvalve, Cedric, Watson, Marco, and Face. Also you need to finish Urs with "Air Romance Wing" performed by pressing to heat up and then pressing down to quarter circle towards and pressing ,,, or while in the air.

Olivia
To switch to the second story path you need to use a standing or crouching attack by using at least ten times and finish the battle with that attack as well against Coyori. So if you hit the other fighter 10 times with a standing attack using then you need to use that same attack to end the fight as well.

Special Events- On the second story path against Cedric and Odile you need to perform "Shall We Dance" 5 times by pressing forward and doing a half circle to away and pushing or . And then make sure to finish the fight with any super special.

Watson
To switch to the second story path you need to finish the fight with Cedric by using the "Hip-de-Bunny" which is performed by pressing down and while in the air.

Special Events- On the main path just beat Oldie with any super special.

Freed
To switch to the second story path you need to use "Magnum Jetter" at least five times against Marco by pressing back for a second then pushing forward and or .

Special Events- On the second story path just finish the fight with any super special against Donvalve, Urs, Cedric, and Deathbringer.

Donvalve
To switch to the second story path you need to use "Hip-de-don" performed by pressing down and quarter circle to away and pressing or at least once and finish with any super special against Coyori.

Donvalve has no special events.

Coyori
To switch to the second story path you need to use to perform your throw at least 5 times against Freed.

Special Events- On both branch paths you need to use "Storm Cat" by pressing down and quarter circle forward X2 and pressing or against Marco. This is a super special so you will need at least 1 level of heat. After you throw the move you will need to hit the or until you get at least 15 hits. If you don't get 15 hits or more then you won't get this special event.

Face
To switch to the second story path you need to use "Texas Knee" performed by pressing forward then going to down and quarter circle back to forward and pressing or at least 5 times against Urs.

Special Events- On both story paths against Olivia, Ashley, Face, and Freed you need to finish the fight with "Quickshot" performed by pressing to go into "heat up" mode and then pressing either down and quarter circle forward or away and ,,, or.

Deathbringer
To switch to the second story path you need to finish Watson with "Final Inferno" by pressing down and quarter circle forward and or . It's a super special so you will need 1 level of heat.

Special Events- On the main path against Urs and Marco just win by time out. Also against Donvalve you need to finish the fight with "Final Strike." Go into "heat up" mode by pressing and hitting with 3 straight slashes from your sword. The quickest one to pull of is press down and .

Odile
To switch to the second story path you need to press immediately after you beat Coyori to taunt her.

Odlie has no special events.

Sadly there is no way to boost these wins. There are no custom settings that can be adjusted to allow you to fool the system for you and a partner to be in the same room. However, there are not many people online....almost none at all to be honest. So if you and a buddy were to be on at the same time and one created a ranked match and the other searched for a quick match, then chances are you will get in the same room.

Without the ability to boost then this becomes a skill trophy. Experiment with all fighters till you find one that feels right to you and one you feel you are strong with. Learn there moves and combo setups and practice the ability to parry attacks.

[top]
Start Me Up!
Outside of training mode, use Urs's taunting to enter Heat Up mode.

This is a "gimme" trophy. In any mode other than practice....Hold until Urs goes into Heat up mode. Simple as that.

[top]
Oh No You Didn't!
Outside of training mode, use Cedric's Nose Glasses.

Another "gimme" trophy here. In any other mode other than practice....start by pressing down and moving to the diagonal away to away from your opponent and press once your reach the away direction. (Think of Ryu's fireball move from streetfighter but instead of going toward the opponent, move away from them and use to trigger the move.

Note: When you do this all he does is change the glasses on his face. The nose glasses will not come out right away and you will just have to keep doing the move until they come out. But don't worry because the trophy will ding as soon as you do it.

[top]
Cruelty To Animals
In single-player arcade mode, finish off Watson with Donvalve's throw.

While playing in the arcade mode, without a second controller on, all you have to do is play as Donvalve. And when you face off against Watson (the rabbit) wear him down till he only has a little life left. Then make sure you win the match by taking his last bit of life with a throw. Press reach for the throw when close to the opponent.

[top]
You Want Me To WHAT?
In single-player arcade mode, on a difficulty higher than NORMAL, survive Deathbringer's Apocalypse Flame attack and win the round with full health

This right here WILL be the trophy that keeps many people from getting . You have to have perfect timing with the parry system using and block all attacks attempted by Deathbrigner. Then on top of that you have to parry all 22 hits of his super special Apocalypse Flame attack and win with full health. The timing will take practice but a good rule of thumb is to start pressing the parry button right as the screen freezes on the Apocalypse Flame move. It's a steady pace of continuous parry that doesn't speed up or slow down although it may appear to. I've included a video to see it in action, however, this video makes it look so easy and i assure you it's not.

Once you have practiced your parry ability and feel ready to take on the challenge then go through arcade mode until you get to the second fight with Deathbringer. The good thing here is if you get hit and mess up, just let him kill you and you can have another go at it right away by using the continue option and you have no limit on these so you can do it all day and night. (Which you may just have to do that....several times over)

[top]
Didn't Even Break a Sweat
Defeat the End of Deathbringer in single-player arcade mode without Heating Up

This trophy is a bit misleading. You can use "heat up" mode (you have too in order to wear him down) in the process of winning the match. All you have to do is deliver the final blow that kills him while NOT in "heat up" mode. You can have the CPU level set to very easy on this to make it easier.

This one will take a few tries because usually when in this fight, things go really quick. Just try to keep an eye on Deathbringer's life and as he drops to just a could thousand life start using lighter attacks while in "heat up" mode. Once you are out and you see he has dropped to 15-30 in life, then attack normal to win while not in "heat up" mode. Once you kill him this way....DING! Easier said than done though :p

[top]
Be Gentle...
Finish off Olivia with Ashley's Steal Your Heart in single-player arcade mode.

While in arcade mode with only one controller on and facing Olivia, make sure to take the last of her health and end the fight with Ashley's special "Steal your heart." It's performed by pressing forwards and moving a half circle to away and pushing or . This is a throw so you have to be right on top of the other fighter to pull it off. Try it out a few times during the match so you can see how much damage it does. Then wear her down till you only have to perform it one more time and the trophy is yours.

[top]
Size Doesn't Matter
Get a 40+ hit combo with Watson.

There are many different ways to obtain this trophy and it mostly comes down to timing. But to make things easier you can do this in a 2P V.S. so the other fighter will just stand there. I also suggest picking Deathbringer for the second controller as he is the tallest fighter and has a better chance of getting hit with everything. However, there are ways around everything and here is somewhat of a glitch video that shows how to get an endless combo.

But to try and do it right here is a good way to go about it. First you'll need to make sure you have all three levels of heat ready for use. Watson has a regular attack that is performed by using and with enough damage you will see and hear "level up" for him. That is for the move "Torabasa Minore" which is performed by pressing down and doing a half circle to forward and pressing or . With that in mind you'll want to go into "heat up" mode and begin to perform the move "Twinkle Dust" which can only be done in "heat up" mode by pressing down and half circle to away X3 and pressing or .

Start "heat up" mode and perform 2 of the 3 motions needed for "Twinkle Dust" and then perform the move "Torbasa Minore." After that move lands a few attacks then perform the final motion for "Twinkle Dust." Wait to just at the end of the meteors hitting to start the last super special needed to put you over the top. Perform "Alsuhail Almuhlif" by pressing down and half circle to forward X2 and hitting or . If you timed everything just right you should get a combo just over 40. It may take a few times to get it just right.

[top]
Maladie Des Griffes Du Chat
Get a 50+ hit combo with Coyori.

This one can be a little tricky. It's important to have all there levels of "heat up" mode because you'll need to perform 2 super special moves while in "heat up" mode and that takes 3 levels. Timing is important here and the following video is there for you to study so you can practice and walk away with another trophy. Remember that all super special moves are enhanced while in "heat up" mode meaning quicker hits for higher combos.

Go into "heat up" mode and kneel down and throw a few quick attacks and then perform the move "Crazy Cat Dance" by pressing down and half circle to forward X2 and pushing or . Wait for the right time at the end of that move to perform "Cat Storm" by pressing the same directions as above X2 but using or instead. After you get that move off, rather you used or , keep mashing that button to keep getting hits to add to the combo.

[top]
Final Countdown
In the single-player arcade mode, end a battle with Deathbringer's Final Strike.

This one is not hard at all if you know what to look for. "Final Strike" is performed while Deathbringer is in "Heat up" mode and lands 3 straight slash attacks with his sword. You have to be quick because his "heat up" mode has the shortest duration of any fighter. The easiest way I found to do this was while in arcade mode with no other controllers on, wait for the fight with Marco. Fight him and land attacks until you get his life to around 800 and go into "heat up" mode. Hold down and press to attack low with your sword 3straight times. After the third hit, he will automatically start the "Final Strike" move and give you another trophy.

[top]
Older Swinger Seeks Companion
In the single-player arcade mode, hit with Donvalve's strongest swing, the Don Don Swing.

This one can be a little tricky but is alot easier to pull off if you use the left stick for your direction making moves. So of course while in arcade mode with only one controller on, attempt this move on anyone you like. You don't have to end the fight with it, just hit the move.

It's a super special so you need at least one level of heat to attempt it. Rotate the left stick 2 complete full circles and press or . It's a throw so you have to be in close. Once you grab them, however, make sure to keep rotating the left stick until the move is over. You have to actually fly of the ground with this move for it to count. Once you finish the throw and land back on the ground, you'll have another trophy.

[top]
The Touch
In the single-player arcade mode, finish Face off with Marco's throw

This game has a thing for giving you trophies will beating an opponent with a throw. While in arcade mode with no other controller turned on you can get this while fighting Face. Beat on him till he is almost dead and the push to throw him and kill him for the trophy.

[top]
Groovy
Get a 30+ hit combo with Urs

Easiest done while in a 2P V.S. so the fighter on the second controller can just sit there. The good news is Urs is one of the easiest to string together combos. Keep in mind while being in "heat up" mode it makes you faster and able to hit a few extra times for higher combos. Start by making sure you're back is against the left wall and you're facing the other fighter not to far away.

Start off by jumping at them and pushing and while going down to land start the special move "Speed Glide" by pressing down and half circle away and pushing . Follow that up by a plain attack by pressing . (It's a link attack to set up the next move) Then repeat the "Speed Glide" and basic attack of for the second time. After hitting for the second time after the second "Speed Glide" perform the "Speed Glide" one more time (total of 3) and finish with a super special (requires 1 level of heat) called "Full Throttle Road Master" which is performed by pressing down and quarter circle to forward X2 and pressing or .

[top]
Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore
In the single-player arcade mode, end a battle with Olivia's Shall We Dance?

This one can be a pain because "Shall We Dance?" is a throw move and only does 1 damage. It's performed by pressing forward and doing a half circle to away and pushing or .

So of course while in arcade mode, make sure to only have one controller on and the CPU level set to very easy. Against any fighter just wear them down as low as you can. Keep an eye on your basic attacks of just and as they come in handy once the other fighters health is really low. Get ready to spam this move alot because you'll probably have to do it 10-20 times in a row depending on how low you were able to get there life to begin with.

[top]
The Hookening
Get a 20+ hit combo with Freed.

Start a 2P V.S. match and let the fighter on controller 2 just sit there while you get this harder combo. You'll need at least 2 levels of heat although 3 isn't bad either. Start by jumping in and attacking with . As you're landing start the super special called "Heat My Justice" be pressing down and quarter circle forward X2 and pushing (you have to be right next to them for this to work). While that is finishing up hold away and then push towards and to hit the special "Magnum Jetter." Finish off with another "Heat My Justice" and hopefully you'll have another trophy.

[top]
Marxist
In single-player arcade mode, use Cedric's Nose Glasses against the End of Deathbringer

You'll use the same method as in Oh No You Didn't! except it has to be against the very last boss. The second time you fight Deathbringer where he is glowing on fire and can only be killed using heat up mode. You don't have to win the fight or anything, just pull out the nose glasses. This may take a few tries but just keep at it until you here the ding.

[top]
With Our Powers Combined!
Get a 60+ hit combo with Odile and Dokurod.

Flat out this one sucks. There's alot to do and many places to mess up at but don't give up and keep trying. As always be in a 2P V.S. match and let controller 2 sit idle. Jump towards them and hit with and as soon as your feet touch, jump again and attack with again. After landing jump one more time and perform the super special move "Grand Pirouette" by pressing down quarter circle to forward X2 and or . Since you are performing a super special then you will need atleast 1 level of heat.

Plain and simple....it's a pain in the ass. It's not impossible but it is aggravating. Of course having the CPU level to very easy and rounds set to 1 makes things easier but the CPU get harder and harder the more fights you win. But the good news is that after each fight you will regain alot of health. You could have only half a life bar and win and start the next fight with full health.

This one takes skill and there is no cheap way to get it other than find a fighter you are good with and spam a move the best you can. To be honest the best fighter I found for this was Deathbringer. Spam his "Cursed Destrier" performed by pressing forward and doing a half circle to away and pressing . Make sure to hold cause it will allow you to hold your pose before attacking thus allowing you to wait to just the moment before the other fighter stands up. Don't forget to use your heat as you get it and go into "heat up" mode and if you get them stuck in corners make sure to use super special moves.

As you've already gathered by now, I like using DeathBringer and spamming his move "Cursed Destrier" performed by pressing forward and doing a half circle to away and pressing . Make sure to have the CPU level set to very easy and make sure to have the rounds set to 1 so you only have to win 1 round per fight.

You may find another fighter you can handle better, but with this special move spammed it cause the most damage in the quickest amount of time. It's trial and error really because there is no real way to cheat this one.

[top]
Population Control
Outside of training mode, dish out a total of over 1,000.000 damage.

This is a very easy trophy and doesn't take as long to get as you might expect. IMPORTANT! Like I said in the beginning, you must turn on auto save to keep your progress for this trophy and others saved automatically. Because if you choose to save yourself and you forget before you turn of the game then all that you had just done will be lost.

With that being said, this trophy will come to you as just a natural progression of the game. You will be dealing out a ton of damage as you play. Especially to the second battle of Deathbringer, as his life is over 32,000.

[top]
Shameless Flirt
In single-player arcade mode, seduce every character with Ashley's taunt.

This one is a bit misleading as well. When you go through arcade mode once, you don't fight every single person, just 8 of them. So you do not have to keep playing until you fight each person. Just start up an arcade round with Ashley, and every person you fight, including both versions of Deathbrigner, simply use your taunt at least once in the match by pressing . That's all there is to it.

[top]
Furricane
In single-player arcade mode, get 25+ hits with Coyori's Cat Storm

Of course while in arcade mode with only one controller turned on you can do this against anyone. I suggest a bigger fighter like Donvalve or the first fight with Deathbringer. Also, make sure to be in "heat up" as to speed yourself up and get those extra hits in. Perform "Cat Storm" by pressing down and half circle to forward X2 and pushing or . After you throw the move, make sure to mash or as hard as you can to build up that combo.

For Whom The Bell Tolls...
Outside of training mode, as Death Bringer, defeat an opponent with a single move

This is so simple it's not even fair. Start up a 2P V.S. match and make sure it's set to 2 rounds for the win. Pick Deathbringer as your fighter and who ever for controller 2. The first round you just beat them up and get your heat level to 1. Now the second round is where you get the trophy. Do NOT hit them with anything other than the following move or you will not get the trophy.

You need to use the "Final Inferno" super special by pressing down, to down diagonal, to forward X2 and hitting . Now after you hit just hold it. The move has to charge up and will release itself and once it does it deals 9999 damage and kills anybody other than the second version of Deathbringer with just one hit. Just make sure to be standing close.

AAAADRIAAANNNN!!!
Outside of training mode, win a match with only 1 HP left.

This is easily done with 2 controllers. Start a 2P V.S. match and pick anyone for yourself on controller 1 and make sure to pick Olivia for controller 2. With Olivia (on controller 2) attack your fighter and bring there life as low as possible. Then spam the move "shall we dance" till you drop your fighters health to 1. After that....put controller 2 to the side and use your fighter on controller 1 to win the round thus giving you this trophy.

It's A Trap!
In single-player arcade mode, hit an opponent with Watson's level 3 Torabasa Minore.

This trophy description is wrong. It's not the Torabasa Minore you have to hit the other fighter with, it's your super special "Torabasa Mayore" which is performed by pressing down quarter circle to forward X2 and pressing . It takes 1 level of heat and can be done to anybody in arcade mode with only 1 controller on. You don't have to end the fight with this move, just hit them with it. Easiest way for me was to trap the other fighter in a corner and throw the move real quick. It works best if you do it on the first fight of arcade mode since they don't block alot.

Har-man-ica
In single-player arcade mode, see Face whip out his instrument while wearing hot pants

Every fighter has 2 secret outfits that can be unlocked through story mode. One you unlock both of the outfits that Face has (you will know you have when it says you are 90% or more complete with his story) start an arcade game. Goto face and pick him using . Once the match starts he's in his "hot" outfit playing his instrument and you get the trophy. Make sure to see The Rainbow for an explanation of how to complete his story completely.

Freed At Last!
Outside of training mode, have 2 Freeds in Heat Up mode do Magnum Jetter on each other simultaneously.

You either have to have a buddy online to do this with or another person next to you because it takes 2 controllers to knock this one out. It's simple really. Just start up a 2P V.S. if it's local or private match online and at the same time perform the move "Magnum Jetter" by pressing away for a second then pushing forward and or . As long as both people who are supposed to pick freed of course, hit each other then you will get the trophy.

Lucky for us that these can be boosted. Simply start up a player match and set whatever settings you want....have a buddy search for the same settings and boom....you're in it together. And since not alot of people are online playing, it won't be hard to boost these. Even better, after each fight you will stay in the lobby with your buddy and not have to keep searching everytime. Now there is an invite option that you have once you create a player match but I believe that turns it into a "private" match which will do nothing for you and the trophy.

At The Same Time!?
Outside of training mode, get a Double KO.

Very easy trophy....set up a 2P V.S. match and pick the same fighter for both controllers that way the timing of there attacks are the same. Grab both controllers and hit an attack button at the same time on each controller. Repeat till they both die at the same time and there's another trophy.
