[top]Tips and Strategies

  • All Trophies are in XMB Order
  • To access the DLC, head to any fast travel station and you will now have Oasis added to your locations. Head here to begin the DLC.
  • The enemies levels in the DLC will be scaled to the level of the main player in the game. If you are at level 50, everything else will be at 50, if you are at 20 so will the be the enemies. This makes the DLC available to everyone no matter what point you are at in the game.
  • This DLC is all about pirates. All the bandits will have Pirate themed names and new looks as well as new attacks.
  • Just because there are only three trophies, don't think this is a small DLC. This DLC has a lot to do and adds a ton of gameplay to the story.
  • This DLC introduces Hover Skiffs as a new vehicle. These are basically the same thing that Jabba the Hutt's minions used in Return of the Jedi during the Sarlaac Pit encounter. The Hover Skiffs are very easy to maneuver as they can move sideways without having to turn wheels, so if you are good with the cars, you will be great with Hover Skiffs.

[top]Loot

Loot can be found EVERYWHERE on Pandora. It falls from defeated enemies, is hidden in boxes, chests, lockers, safes and even toilets, can be bought from vending machines, and is given you you for completing quests. You can only carry so much loot in your backpack at one time, so always be mindful of how much space you have and what you need, then grab the best loot to sell for extra income. I recommend spending some Eridium to upgrade both your Backpack and your Bank Safe capacities at the Black Market Dealer to maximize the amount of loot you can carry and hold. The most difficult enemies will yield you the best equipment, also the more players that you are playing with will increase the chance at better loot items. Below is a breakdown of the Loot for new players to learn about the game.

Loot Color Loot Rarity Loot Description
White Common These are the crappy white colored guns you find everywhere. They are alright in the beginning of the game, but once you get going and have some good weapons there isn't really much of a use to pick these up. The majority of these come without any add ons that make the weapon better.
Green Uncommon The Green level weapons are almost as easy to find as the white ones, but the green weapons are very useful. The green weapons almost always have some type of elemental add on to the gun as well as enhanced accessories
Blue Rare Most Blue weapons aren't that much better than there Green counterparts, but they are worth better money for resale. That being said, while the elemental and accessories add ons for Blue weapons aren't much better, some of them have a great leap in damage
Purple Very Rare These will have a small increase in elemental damage over the Blue weapons, but Purple weapons always have a Scope on the gun, not matter what type of gun it is.
Magenta Ultra Rare/E-TEC This is new for Borderlands 2. The Magenta color is strictly for E-TEC weapons. The E-TEC weapons turn the ammo for the weapon into bolts of energy. Some of these weapons are very powerful and very hard to find
Orange Legendary Currently this is the top of the pyramid in terms of weaponry. These will always have increased perks you can't find in other weapons as well as fantastic bonuses.
Pink Seraph Crystal After you complete the game you will gain access to Hyperius the Invincible. When you defeat him, he will drop a random number of Pink Seraph Crystals. These Crystals can be traded in at the Crystal Dealer in Oasis for weapons that are more rare than the Orange Legendary Weapons. That being said, you can only fight them once a day, unless you keep changing the clock, and the weapons don't look any more impressive than what you probably already have for Legendary Weapons.

[top]Elemental Weapons

Elemental Weapons can be found on all weapons that you find with the exception of the White weapons. Having a good mix of elemental weapons can mean the difference between a grueling difficult battle and a nice easy battle. The key to elemental weaponry is to know what elements work best against what enemies and their enhancements. Below is a breakdown of the weapons and their specialties.

Elemental Type Specialties
Explosive Weapons Explosive Weapons are great against all types of enemies, but they are fantastic against large groups that are close together, or against shielded enemies. Each round fired will explode on impact causing splash damage to all enemies in the vicinity. With this in mind, you can be creative with the attacks and target the ground near an enemy that is in cover and use the splash damage to knock them out of hiding for a better shot. The drawbacks of these weapons is that the majority of them have a very slow rate of fire.
Corrosive Weapons Corrosive Weapons will coat the enemy in acid, which will eat away at them causing constant damage until the effect has gone away. Corrosive Weapons work great against all enemies that aren't a Corrosive based such as the Caustic Goliaths. Corrosive Weapons are best used against enemies that have Armor. If the enemy has the gold bar that represents Armor, such as all the Hyperion Mechs, use a Corrosive Weapon to eat through it.
Fire Weapons Fire Weapons work the same as Corrosive Weapons and will light the enemies on fire. One of the big differences here, is that the the enemy that is on fire can light other enemies on fire if they run into each other. The fire won't hurt you if they bump you, BUT an enemy on fire can ignite barrels and explosive tanks if they get close to it which can send you straight to the New U station if you are standing too close. Fire Weapons, are fantastic against any human enemies that you battle as their flesh quickly ignites and burns fast, but are NOT overly good against Armored enemies.
Shock Weapons Shock Weapons are good to have, but they aren't as effective as Fire and Corrosive Weapons. When an enemy is hit with a Shock Weapon, there is a chance the attack will electrocute them for a few seconds causing bonus damage, but the effect is very brief. The big advantage to Shock Weapons is that they overload the enemies shields and bring them down quickly. This can be very useful against stalkers as they won't be able to Phaseshift if you bring down their shields.
Slag Weapons Slag Weapons are new to Borderlands 2. A Slag Weapon will coat the target in Slag, which then causes all other attacks to do more damage. Slag doesn't cause damage to the enemy, but if you have a strong weapon with a Slag Enhancement, such as a sniper rifle, you can cause some major damage after you coat the enemy in Slag.

Treasure Hunter
Completed the mission "X Marks the Spot"

This a Story Mission

This mission will start as soon as you have placed the Compass in the Lighthouse. You need to head to Wurmwater to meet with Scarlett. Head down the lighthouse and outside, you will get ambushed. Defeat all the pirate's and the two Lieutenants will appear. They aren't very difficult, but they do have strong shields. Take down their shields with a good Shock Weapon then finish them off and continue. Start to ride elevator down, then jump off to the ledge below where you found the Message in a Bottle side mission. From here you can jump down to the beginning of the area, much faster than roaming all around the mountain. Now head back to Wurmwater and head to the middle of the searchlight to get swallowed by the Leviathan. Grab some ammo at the vending machine and drop down to get reunited with Scarlett and Roscoe.

Roscoe
Roscoe is Scarlett's pet Rakk Hive Yes...you get to fight a giant Rakk Hive down here inside Leviathan. Now mercifully, this Rakk Hive isn't nearly as strong as the one in Borderlands 1. Aim at his eyes to get Critical Hits and circle around him. Ignore the Rakks, or powered up versions if you are on TVHM, and use them for Second Chances. The only bad part, is that the pools of Acid on the ground will cause you Corrosive Damage. If he jumps in the air, make sure you move so you don't get stomped by his one major attack. If you have anything that causes Slag Damage, hit him with that to cause some major damage.

Once he falls, Scarlett will conveniently disappear, but she will drop her pistol behind so grab that and then continue through the Leviathan for the final showdown.

Leviathan
The Leviathan is strong, unless you are already powered up to level 50 with your full arsenal of weapons. If you are, the battle wont take very long. The Leviathan has 4 weak spots which are the glowing blue masses on his body. There is one on his chest, one for each eye and one inside his mouth. Shoot at those to gain Critical hits and take him down quickly. He will also spawn Sand Worms in the area, but those are really of no concern, use them for Second Chances if you go down. Once he falls, use his arm to cross the chasm to the Treasure Room and grab the loot from the top. Now travel back to see Shade to complete the DLC and end the mission.

Gadabout
Discovered all named locations in Oasis and the surrounding Pirate's Booty areas.

This trophy is much easier than the Locations trophy in the main game. For this Trophy you will only need to find the NAMED AREAS of Oasis, Wurmwater and Hayter's Folly. You don't even need to uncover the entire map, you only need to find all the locations. This might just be a glitch in the game that might be patched later, so if you find all these locations and the trophy doesn't unlock, try opening the entire map to see if it works. My trophy even unlocked before I had found every named area in all three areas.

[top]Hyperius the Invincible Strategies

Terramorphous too easy for you? Thinking the bosses on the game are a joke? Then play this DLC and take on Hyperius the Invincible for a real challenge. Now I can't take credit for this strategy, this strategy was given to me by Broken and LimeSamurai and from what I've found on Youtube this strategy is becoming wide spread.

[top]Step 1: Preparation

If you think you are going to roam into his arena like an Ultimate Badass with your Conference Call Shotgun and Bee Shield and take him out like Terramorphous, you've got another thing coming. DON"T BOTHER ATTEMPTING UNTIL YOU ARE LEVEL 50!!. You can try this a couple times, but after you are done dying, head out and find all the weapons I've listed below for your character and dupe them to your friends so you are all ready for this battle.
  • Legendary Item Name: The Bee
  • Dropped by: Hunter Hellquist
  • Location: Hunter Hellquist is located in Arid Nexus - Boneyard and you will encounter him while doing the This Just In Side Mission.

[top]Step 2: The Battle

First thing you need to know about Hyperius is that once the battle begins the gate to enter his lair is locked and nobody can enter. Because of this make sure everyone is in the arena and ready before you take a shot at him. Also if you die you can't rejoin the battle. You will need 8 pieces of Eridium to pull the lever, but after you spend that the first time you won't need to spend it again.

1-2 Players
Before the battle take a look at your surroundings in the arena and you will notice a piece of the wall that sticks out just to the left of the entrance. Have everyone in the party equip the Baby Maker and go stand near Hyperius. At the same time, take the first shot to begin the battle. Shoot one bullet at him and press the to reload throwing your gun at him. Repeat this until he leaps up to engage his shield and releases his Nova Blast. As soon as he starts to leap up, you shot get 3-4 reloads on him before he does this, run back to that piece of the wall and take cover. You will be safe here from his initial attack. Now take out your Practicable Conference Call and shoot at the minions until Hyperius drops his shields again. Switch back to the Baby Maker and use the shoot once and reload method at him until he dies. Now change to the Infinity Pistol and take out the rest of the Minions.

3-4 Players
Have everyone in the party equip the Baby Maker and go stand near Hyperius. At the same time, take the first shot to begin the battle. Shoot one bullet at him and press the to reload throwing your gun at him. With this many people you should be able to take him out before his initial Nova Blast. Now change to the Infinity Pistol and take out the rest of the Minions.

[top]Master Gee the Invincible

Once you have finished your battle with Hyperius, be prepared for an even more powerful Invincible opponent. Remember the Vault Hunter from Marcus' story at the beginning of the DLC? The one that got eaten when he was near the treasure in the desert? Well he is still alive and now has an army of Sand Worms at his disposal.

First thing you need to know about Master Gee is that once the battle begins the gate to enter his lair is locked and nobody can enter. You will need 8 pieces of Eridium to pull the lever, but after you spend that the first time you won't need to spend it again.

Master Gee will be in the middle of this large arena protected by a shield that cant be damaged >:F. His minions, the sand worms, will attack you around the arena. To defeat him, you need to kill the sand worms. As the sand worms die, the arena will fill up with Acid. The Acid will deplete his shields AND his health. This is why I sent you after the Alkaline Bee Shield it won't give you complete immunity, but it will help with the Corrosive Damage. Now even though you are protected from this, he will still be shooting at you and there will periodically be geysers that blow acid into the air around the arena. Your shield wont protect you from that, so avoid it all costs. If you didn't get the shield, stay over by the gate to enter as it doesn't fill up with acid until later. You can stand in the entrance to the area, as this area doesn't fill up with acid until later, BUT you will need to continue knocking him backwards into the acid.

Once his shield drops, he is vulnerable to attack. He will also drop purple shield generators and stand behind them.
