[top]Tips & Strategies

  • If you are attempting platinum you may want to try it in 2 or more playthroughs instead of jumping immediately into veteran. But, if you really wish to test your skills veteran is available for you on your first playthrough.
  • If you decided to try for the platinum in 2 or more playthroughs try to remember important details that can greatly help in either obtaining some of the trophies on a later playthrough, or to help with your veteran playthrough. Things such as enemy spawn points, checkpoints, good cover spots, or good weapon drops can help quite a bit on veteran if you can remember from an earlier playthrough.
  • This should probably go without saying but cover is your friend. Don't try to be the hero who jumps right into the action because it may work on lower difficulties but you will be in for a rude awakening on veteran. Going prone to cover is also very useful on veteran. You can sometimes hide from enemies by going prone allowing you to take out a bunch of them without them even knowing of your presence.
  • Pay very close attention to your grenade indicator because on veteran there is a lot of grenade spamming especially on some of the later levels. It can be extremely frustrating dying from grenades at the same part for 20 times straight so make it a habit to be aware or you will not survive veteran.
  • In the American missions, smoke grenades help a lot. Don't be afraid to use them especially on a mission like 'Burn 'em Out'. The Japanese usually won't even be able to see a thing and you can take out a whole area by yourself in the duration of only 1 smoke grenade.
  • Take your time, there is no time limit on any level and there is absolutely no need to rush. This applies to veteran especially. You don't need to be rushing to see how fast you can finish the level, just wait and look for openings where you can take out some enemies or start to move up. Rushing is the the only reason you should die really and it only gets more frustrating when you keep trying to rush and end up dying. If you have to hang back for a bit then hang back, no one said you had to be the one up in front of your team.
  • Instead of posting a full written walkthrough under each level on veteran I have posted video walkthroughs. If you would prefer a written veteran walkthrough then check out this link from GameFAQs:

  • If you have any other additional tips with trophies or any difficulties at all, feel free to either post in this guide or PM me.
  • Note: I did not make any of the videos in this guide.

[top]
Hardened War Hero
Complete the game on Hardened or Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)

Veteran is downright hard, no two ways about it. Veteran may seem utterly impossible to you at first but it is doable. All it takes is patience and practice and you will find yourself beating missions faster than you thought you would. This trophy can however be obtained by completing hardened rather than veteran and I would recommend playing hardened first before attempting veteran. But, if you really want the platinum in one playthrough veteran is available for you from the start. If you need any help on a specific mission refer to the corresponding veteran trophies for each level.

[top]
War Hero
Complete the game on any difficulty. (Solo only)

Just complete the game on any difficulty, even recruit, simple as that. You should get this trophy right after you get Stabbed in the Heart.

[top]
Saved Private Ryan
Save the soldier before he burns to death.

In the very first mission of the game, 'Semper Fi', you will come to this large circular hut towards the beginning of the level. As you approach this hut to progress further a Japanese soldier will bust through a door whilst on fire holding an American soldier. All you have to do is shoot the Japanese guy before the private gets set on fire. It should be an easy shot since u have about 5-10 seconds before the guy gets set on fire and your only like 5 feet away from him. Just be careful not to hit the American soldier with any bullets and you will get the trophy.

[top]
Weapon of Mass Destruction
Radio in a naval bombardment that kills at least 4 Japanese soldiers.

At the beginning of the second level in the game, 'Little Resistance', you will be asked to radio in a naval bombardment to clear the beach of Japanese Soldiers. After that point you can use the naval bombardment at any point in the level. The easiest part to get 4 kills with 1 naval strike is in the very end where you have to climb the building with the two MG nests and are asked to destroy 2 tanks with the naval strike. Instead of aiming at the tanks aim at the large group of enemy foot soldiers by the tanks and you should easily get 4 kills with one strike.

[top]
The Professional
Shoot all of Amsel's henchmen, including their attack dog, without reloading. (Solo only)

At the beginning of the level 'Vendetta' you will be given a sniper with no bullets and will see a man by the name of General Amsel walk out of a car and into a building on the right. After he is in the building you will receive ammo and will be asked to take out all of his henchman. There are 2 on the right, 2 in the middle, 2 on the left and after they are all killed another soldier with an attack dog comes as well. You have 5 bullets to take out all 7 henchmen and the dog. The 2 on the right can both be taken out with 1 bullet as can the 2 down the middle. You will have to take the 2 on the left out with a bullet each leaving you with bullet left for the last soldier and the dog. You can either move to the left a little and peak through the small hole to try and line up a shot to kill both the man and the dog or wait for the dog to run to you, so you can then knife it and kill the last soldier with the last bullet. Either way you do it, it shouldn't be too hard. Click the spoiler to watch a video demonstration.

[top]
Gunslinger
Assassinate General Amsel with a pistol shot. (Solo only)

This trophy can be a total pain, however, I wouldn't go as far as saying it is the hardest trophy in the game. It is mostly based on luck but there is some skill and strategy involved. First off, the pistol. You will find 2 pistols on some tables in the room where you face off against the other sniper. I have heard that there is a glitch that if you waste all the pistol ammo as soon as you pick it up he will auto reload and you will get 80 more pistol ammo, however i have never tried it myself nor do i have any proof it works. Ok so now that we know where the pistol is I will talk about the strategy involved in killing Amsel with the pistol. The easiest way to do it is to let Amsel get to his car only taking out his snipers that fire at you and the manned MGs on some of the passing trucks so that you won't be bothered while the actual killing takes place. Next when the car gets there wait until Amsel is inside then immediately fire at the driver. As soon as the driver is dead take out the pistol and just spam the back area of the truck with all the bullets you have. If you run out without killing him let him flee to try again. An alternative is to get him running before you fire the pistol so you can pick him off while he is running, but that requires more skill and you have to be good with the pistols iron sights. Lights Out!
In 'Black Cats', blast out all of the spot lights in the Japanese cargo convoy. (Solo only)

At the very beginning of the mission 'Black Cats' you will be asked to take out a small fleet of Japanese cargo ships. There are 3 main ships that must be taken out and on each of them is 2 lights. One on the front of each ship and one on the back. You will have many chances to take out the lights so if you miss one on your first passing don't worry as you will get another chance. You do not need to take out any spotlights on any of the PT boats just the large cargo ships. When you shoot and break all 6 spotlights this trophy will unlock.

[top]
Rough Economy
Kill 3 enemies with a single round.

This trophy can be difficult but if you find a good place to line up 3 enemies then it is fairly simple. The best spot I found was at the very beginning of the mission 'Vendetta'. Right after you kill all of General Amsel's henchman and attack dog, if you look to the right there should be a whole gang of German soldiers walking out from behind the building that Amsel went into. If you wait for the right moment you can easily line up 3 of them and take them all out with 1 bullet from your sniper rifle. If you would like to see a video demonstration click on the spoiler below.

[top]
Guardian Angel
In the final battle for Okinawa, save Sergeant Roebuck.

This trophy is only obtainable in the last mission played as the US Marines, 'Breaking Point'. Towards the very end of the mission when you get within the courtyards of the castle 3 Japanese soldiers will pretend to surrender plotting to kill a couple of your allies. Both Sgt. Roebuck and Pvt. Polonsky will run to them and make them stick up their hands. Two outcomes can happen here. Either Sgt. Roebuck survives and Pvt. Polonsky dies netting you the trophy, or Pvt. Polonsky survives and Sgt. Roebuck dies, but that won't unlock the trophy. To make sure its the first option that unlocks the trophy you must go behind the 2 Japanese soldiers that Sgt. Roebuck is aiming at and as soon as they act hostile kill them both. If you do it right the first outcome will happen and the trophy will unlock. Close Shave
Survive a banzai attack.(Solo only)

Another very easy trophy. You may get this without even trying to get it initially. Banzai attackers are Japanese soldiers that hide in grass or bushes, and jump out to try and ambush you. You will know they are Banzai attackers when u hear them shout "Banzai" real loud and they charge straight at you and your allies. To survive a Banzai attack you must first let one knock you over. Once you are knocked over the Banzai will try and stab you with a bayonet but what you must do is press when prompted to counter their attack and stab them before they stab you. Doing that will net you the trophy.

[top]
Snake in the Grass
Take out a Japanese soldier lying in wait in the grass.

This trophy requires you to kill a Japanese Banzai soldier that is hiding prone in grass. A good place to get this trophy is early on in the mission 'Little Resistance'. In the area right after you get off the beach and head for the MG nests, there is a large amount of tall grass that holds 3 Banzai attackers. It is also the area with a palm tree on the right which one of your allies points out there is an enemy in it. Just look closely into the grass and you should see 2-3 bodies hiding, kill one with some well placed bullets and voila, trophy unlocked. An alternative is to cook a grenade before you run into the area and throw it in the middle of the grass and it should kill at least 1 of the soldiers.

[top]
Grave Robber
Collect all Death Cards in the game. (Solo only)

There are a total of 13 death cards that need to be collected for this trophy to unlock. There is one card in every level minus 'Blackcats' and 'Blood and Iron' since those are both vehicle missions. Although the trophy description says solo only you can get every single card except the one found in 'Vendetta' in Co-Op. I have provided a list of all 13 below in the spoiler tags along with a video showing all 13 locations.

No Safe Place
Burn an enemy out of a tree with the flamethrower in 'Hard Landing'.

About a quarter way through the mission 'Hard Landing' you will be going through a bunch of Japanese Bunkers clearing them of enemy soldiers. While clearing the bunkers you will see an American ally of yours with a flamethrower get shot and killed. At this point Sgt. Roebuck will ask you to pick it up and use it so pick it up. After you clear out the last bunker with the flamethrower, you will see a bunch of trees and some with Japanese Soldiers in them. Find one with a Japanese Soldier in it and burn it down to the ground and the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Throw a Six and a Half
On Hardened or Veteran difficulty, complete a level without dying. (Solo only)

Not too difficult if you play the right level. There are two levels that can be done easily on hardened without dying. 'Semper Fi' on hardened is the quicker one to beat but 'Blackcats' on hardened is the easier one, however it will take longer to beat than 'Semper Fi'. If you picked 'Semper Fi' just take your time and always pay attention to the grenade indicator. Take out manned MGs first before any other soldier and don't be afraid to hang back for a bit if your screen is turning red. If you picked 'Blackcats' there really is no strategy here just take out everything and try to judge which planes or boats will be more of a threat so you can take them out first. You don't have to save the marines that swim to your plane either just in case your getting pumped with bullets.

[top]
Purple Heart
When staring into the face of adversity, show courage and persevere.

Although this trophy is really easy it will make you eat your pride. You must die 20 times on one level to unlock this trophy. There is 2 ways to do this. The first being the way that lets you keep your pride by simply killing yourself 20 times with a grenade or enemy fire/grenades. The second way is that you most likely will get 20 deaths on one level in veteran so just not worry about it as it probably will come naturally.

[top]
Firestarter
Complete a level using only the flamethrower. Melee, grenades & explosives are OK.

Just like Kamikaze except much easier since you get to use a flamethrower and it can be done on recruit difficulty. The best level to do this on is 'Burn 'em Out' since you start right off the bat with a flamethrower. The level isn't very long as well so just run through it with only the flamethrower and some smoke grenades if necessary and you will get this trophy no problem.

[top]
Kamikaze
Complete a level on Regular difficulty or higher using only melee or grenades. (Solo only)

This trophy can be challenging but if you do it on Regular difficulty you shouldn't have that much trouble. Just pick a level that is easy and short such as the very first level Semper Fi. All you can do is use your knife with or grenades with either or . If you even fire just 1 bullet you wont get the trophy and you will have to restart the level.

[top]
Iron Fist
Destroy all towers and bunkers in 'Blood and Iron'.

In the mission 'Blood and Iron' you will be driving a tank. While progressing through the level you will notice several enemy towers and bunkers that can be destroyed. In order to get this trophy you must destroy every single tower and bunker in the level (this includes water towers as well). This is easiest done on recruit so you don't have to worry too much about your tank getting destroyed in a hurry. There are a total of 16 towers and 5 bunkers that are all listed below in the spoiler tag, in order from the start of the level to the end. I have also included a video that shows all the towers and bunkers.

[top]
Ruthless
Kill 15 enemies while mounted on a tank in 'Ring of Steel'.

At the very end of the mission 'Ring of Steel' you will make your way onto a road where there will be a number of tanks and a load of Germans running away. All you have to do is go up to one of the tanks and when prompts you to hop in the gunner seat do it. Just kill 15 of the Germans that are running away on the MG and the trophy will pop, easy.

[top]
Mortar-dom
Kill 8 Japanese with thrown mortars in 'Breaking Point.

In the mission 'Breaking Point' there is a part where you will be asked to take out a bunch of enemy mortar pits. If you look around you will find a couple boxes with what look like almost mini torpedoes of some sort, those are mortars. Just go to the box and hold to pick one up and throw it with . You will see a massive explosion when you throw one, so all you have to do is throw a couple in large groups of enemies and you should get 8 kills in no time.

[top]
Shot in the Dark
Kill 10 enemies while the lights are out in the subway in 'Eviction'.

Towards the very end of 'Eviction' you will head into a subway that you must fight through. While in the subway you will notice that every minute or so the lights will flicker and turn off for a good 10-15 seconds. All you must do is kill 10 enemies while the lights are turned off. Just cover while the lights are on and as soon as they flicker off run out and start firing at every enemy you see. When the lights turn on, cover once more and wait for them to turn off again. Rinse, repeat and after 10 kills the trophy will pop.

[top]
Sum of All Zeros
Down 45 Japanese Zeros in 'Black Cats'. (Solo only)

This trophy is easily one of the hardest trophies in the game. Some may argue Veteran is harder while others think the opposite but either way you look at it, it won't be a walk in the park by any means at all. This trophy takes a lot of patience and practice. There really is not much skill or strategy involved. All that can be said is to practice to the point of where you remember where and when every Japanese Zero comes. Remember to play on recruit so that PT boats won't as be bothersome to you, speaking of which, you should only fire at them when there are absolutely no Zeros present. Remember that you do not need to save any of the surviving marines that swim to your plane. Also you may want to turn the brightness and contrast up on your TV so you can see Zeros easier. Another good point to remember is that Zeros only need a couple bullets in them to go down, you do not need to make them explode in midair. If you see black smoke aim at another Zero because that Zero is going down and even if they are off your screen it will still add to your count. With some practice and persistence you will eventually get this trophy. I have posted a video if you would like to view a good run that acquired the trophy.

Blue Ribbon
Complete a 4-player Competitive Co-Op match in 1st place. (Online co-op Only)

Not too difficult but some people may have trouble coming in first. It really all depends on who is in the game with you, like if you are playing against all 10th prestige people then chances are your most likely wont come in first. If you are having issues getting this trophy it can be boosted with 3 friends who are willing to let you come in first.

[top]

Just search for a Campaign Co-Op game and complete which ever level you are placed in. Recruit difficulty would be easiest but it does not matter.

Just like Get Your Left Foot Wet except search for a Competitive Co-Op game instead. Recruit difficulty would be easiest but it does not matter, just complete which ever level that you are placed in simple as that.
