[top]Tips & Strategies

1. Techniques - Remember all techniques. They will help you greatly throughout your playthroughs. You find different techniques on different landings. Talk to the sheep as they like to exchange technique ideas. You can watch the demonstration as many times as you would like to ensure you have it memorized.

2. Drinking - In the Stray Sheep, you will notice on the left side of the screen there are 3 alcohol bottles. The more you drink, the faster you move in Nightmare. So sit at the bar or your table and drink away. Fill the three bottles to have a bit of speed for your next run.

3. Gold Prizes - Try to get the gold prizes your first run throgh the game. If you happen to not get gold, you can simply wait till you enter the Stray Sheep and hit retry on your phone. On your next playthrough, you can skip over the stages you have gold on already, making this playthrough a bit faster.

D-Pad/Left Stick - These two are your moving buttons. Use them to navigate through the puzzle whether it's climbing, sliding around the sides or running.

- This is used to grab the blocks to either push or pull them along with the d-pad for the direction you choose. This is also how you sit and talk to people in the Stray Sheep Bar.

- When not in the dream world, the button brings up your cell phone where you can save, look and reply to text messages, see your sent messages and see the awards (completed puzzles and times).

**You can retry a level when you press to bring your phone up and go to awards. When in the awards sections just press to retry the level you have already completed.**

In Nightmare will undo moves for a certain amount of times. This is only for Easy and Normal Mode. Hard mode does NOT have an undo option.

The Nightmares Have Just Begun...
Conquer Stage 1.

Story Related. Can not be missed.

This is the first puzzle you need to complete. Here is where you learn most of what you need to know. You learn how to move blocks, what some blocks do and some different techniques to help make the climb faster and easier. The object is just to get to the top to the door.

There is no boss in this level.

The Great Escape
Conquer Stage 2.

Story Related. Can not be missed.

This is obviously the second stage or "Second Day". Here there are 3 levels you must beat. The final level is where you will "fight" the boss, which is a giant hand trying to kill you. Get to the top without being killed by the Fist.

After each sub level such as 2-1 and 2-2 you will reach a platform where you will see some sheep you can talk to and learn new techniques. On this platform will also be a book on the stand next to where you first walk. Here you can save your progress.

Boss: Fist of Grudge
  • Encounter: 2-3
  • Attacks:
    • Stabbing with fork - This attack, if missed, just makes you lose your balance. If it does connect with you it will kill you on the spot. This is simple to avoid. Put some space between you and the hands. If the hand does catch up keep moving to avoid the fork.
    • Slashing Blocks - This causes blocks to become dark blocks, making them heavier to move. There is no way to avoid this, but there is a bell somewhere in the level that you can grab. Use the bell to change the dark blocks into regular blocks. This will make the climb faster.

Boss: Immoral Beast
  • Encounter: 3-3
  • Attacks:

  • Tongue: When the beast gets to close to you, it uses it's tongue to lash at you. To avoid this attack keep moving and do not let the beast get to close to you.
  • Hearts: Throughout the escape, the beast will shoot out pink hearts. If you are hit by the hearts, everything is reversed such as up=down, down=up and so on. To avoid the attack hide under a block so that the hearts can not get you.

  • Shock Wave - When you have a decent amount of space between you and The Child, it will send a shock wave up the blocks. Though this will not kill you, it will knock you down thus slowing the process down a bit. To avoid this attack keep moving and when you see the shock wave coming, move out of the way.

This attack can cause an avalanche as well and if you are caught in it, you will fall. To avoid this you should keep moving. If you see an avalanche coming, move away from the spot. If you do how ever get caught in an avalanche, keep pressing to undo your last move.

After that it gets dark except where the mask is, so it makes a bit harder to be able to see where the next set of blocks is. True Freedom!
Conquer Stage 9.

Story Related. Can not be missed.

This is the very last stage of the Nightmare. Here you will not have one boss, but have to run from two. Each boss has their own set of attacks that make the climb to the stop a bit more difficult. In these stages you get introduced to the Random block and Monster block. These are the stages where memorizing the techniques from the past levels will help a lot.

  • Boss: Thomas Mutton/Dumuzid
  • Encounter: 9-5, 9-6
  • Attacks:
  • Thomas: 9-5
  • Gun: Thomas will point and aim his gun at you with the intentions to kill. If the bullet connects you will die instantly. If it hits a block, it will destroy the block. You can avoid this attack by waiting for him to stop aiming and quickly move before he shoots. To save a block you need, stand in front of a different one then move before he shoots. You know he is about to shoot when his aiming red dot stops moving.
  • Stomp: Thomas will kick the front of a block if you are standing in front of it. If it connects with you, you will die. Avoid this attack by keep moving and watching for when he is ready to kick. He is ready when he moved in front of the blocks.
  • Block Switch: Thomas can change what some blocks are. This is not an overall bad thing, but can be a bit deadly if you do not pay attention and he turns one of the blocks into a trap block. There is no way to avoid this.
  • Dumuzid: 9-6
  • Laser: This red beam is shot out of Dumuzids eye. All the blocks in front of the beam are destroyed as well as the bottom. Avoid this by keep moving up.
  • Block swap: When Dumuzids eyes glow blue, he is cursing you. When you pull a block, it will change other blocks around you into any random block. This can be very useful, unless it's a trap block. Just watch your step and the blocks. You can use this to your favor by keeping pulling the block until you change one to your advantage. This curse continues until the purple cloud disappears from you.
  • Meteors: This attacks sends meteors shooting down around you. If a block is hit, it is turned into a cracked blocked making the journey up a little difficult. If you are hit, you are dead.To avoid this, just watch for here they fall by looking at the blocks for when they turn red.

There are a total of 8 different endings. The endings are Katherine True - Good - Bad, Catherine True - Normal - Bad and Freedom True - Normal. Each ending depends on the Karma Meter and whether it is good or bad. Some endings require it to be fully Law or fully Chaos. Some others depend on it being in the middle or a bit into either Law or Chaos. If you have the correct save points, you can get these 8 endings in just about three playthroughs.

Speeding up: To speed up the process, after you have completed one playthrough, when you enter a new one, any stage with a gold prize you can skip. This will help make your multiple playthroughs a bit faster.

Karma: The Karma needed to do these endings is based off the answers you choose when talking with people and sheep. The correct answer will give you positive karma, Law. Incorrect answers will place you in the negative karma, Chaos. Law Karma gets you Good Katherine endings and Chaos Karma will get you more Catherine Bad endings.

Once at Stage 9, these are the questions you need to focus on the most for the endings. There are four questions, though the first one has no effect on the ending.

Help Morgan clean up his mess.

For this trophy, you need to answer a series of questions in the Stray Sheep and the Landings. You must answer these questions in a certain way too. On the landings, Morgan is known as the Sheep with Police Hat. The trophy will only unlock on day 8 in the Stray Sheep if the questions and answers are correct. If correct, then on day 8 Morgan should be in the Stray Sheep, so go talk to him.

Everyday Hero
Help everyone out of their predicaments.

There are 5 people you need to help in the story. They can be found in the Stray Sheep or the Landings between levels as sheep. Knowing who they are in the Nightmare helps out.

See:
  • Read All About It!
  • A New Look
  • Mother Inferior
  • Love is Patient, Love is Kind
  • One Last Case

If all questions are answered correctly for each person, then by the 8th day, you will see each one in the Stray Sheep. Talk to each one to unlock their corresponding trophies.

[top]
Play It Again, Vince...
Use the jukebox to change the music.

The jukebox can be found in the Stray Sheep Bar. Walk up to it and hit to look at it. Choose a different song which will play in the background by hitting again. Once changed the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Text Junkie
Reply to at least 20 text messages by the end of the final day.

When at the Stray Sheep Bar, between conversation you will get texts messages. The ones you can reply to are usually the ones from Katherine and Catherine. If you reply to all of the texts you get, by day 8 you should have replied to 20+. Remember though, these do usually effect your karma meter so be careful when trying to go for one of the endings. I would try to do this when going for the neutral ending.

[top]
Welcome to the Colosseum
Unlock the Colosseum mode.

Story Based. Can not be missed.

This unlocks after you have completed one playthrough. After the credits (you can skip) the trophy pops. It does not matter the ending you choose either, as long as the playthrough is completed.

The Colosseum is an area where you can play with someone else. Object of the Colosseum is to work as a team to get both of you to the top, alive.

[top]
Push It to the Limit!
Push 5 blocks at once. (Golden Playhouse)

You will learn the techniques to move a line of blocks. Get 5 blocks in a row and stand behind and push to move all 5 at the same time. You can do this on any level with any type of block. As long as there are five and you make sure to push all five at the same time.

[top]
Have an Ice Day
Slide an Ice Block 5 or more blocks. (Golden Playhouse)

The Ice Blocks make their appearance in 5-1. These blocks are slippery, and if stepped on one, there is no stopping unless you come to a regular block or a wall.

Sliding - It is recommended that you do not slide the ice blocks, as they will keep going until the edge. For this trophy however, that is what you want. Find a ledge where there are at least 6 or more ice blocks that you are standing on. Use another block either on the ledge already or from the wall that you pulled out. Pull it back all the way until there are 5 ice blocks in front of you. Now push the block and let it slide all the way across. If it goes over all 5 blocks, you did.

Then pull it toward you so it covers the ice block you are currently on. Now corner spider to the left side and push it. Trophy obtained! ( I know it sounds complicated but its quite easy in practice and with a picture to help explain ).

[top]
Bomberlamb
Hit 15 blocks with a single explosion. (Golden Playhouse)

To do this you need to position the Bomb block just right. The bomb block can not do anything to dark blocks or unmovable blocks. When you have the bomb block in position, ignite it by stepping on it and continue up. When bomb block goes off, if it hits 15 other blocks then the trophy is unlocked. If no trophy, then simply wait until you find another bomb block and try again.

[top]
I Can Fly!
Jump on a Spring Block 3 times in a row. (Golden Playhouse)

The spring blocks are in Level 5 along with the ice blocks. Just walk up to the blocks (they almost look like a regular white box) and once you step on it, it will activate. Just hit a spring box 3 times in a row. You can use the same one for all three jumps. Jump on the block, shoot up than fall back down on the block. Step off the block then get back on it to shoot up again. Do this one more time for the third jump.

[top]
Take Your Time
Move a Dark Block 10 times in a row. (Golden Playhouse)

The Dark Blocks are like the White Blocks, just a darker color and much heavier. You can move them though they take a bit longer to move than the White Blocks. When you find one or some, sit there and push and/or pull it 10 times in a row. Remember, do not push and/or pull any other blocks because you will have to start over with the Dark Block.

Go around and talk to everyone in the bar. By doing this some of them will leave after your conversation. If not, continue to walk around or sit down and drink and eventually one by one all the customers will leave. Sometimes it takes a bit, sometimes it's a short wait. Once the last customer leaves (leaving you, Erica and Boss in the bar) this trophy will unlock.

Altar: The stages on Altar are dominated by White Blocks, Heavy Blocks, and Cracked Blocks placed in awkward patterns commonly interspersed with gaps from Cracked Blocks breaking.

These stages consist of:
White Blocks - Push, Pull, the standard blocks.
Heavy Blocks - Push, Pull, Heavier so they take more time to move.
Cracked Blocks - Push, Pull, if you step on them they crack more, and they will collapse.

The blocks are randomized, so there is no specific way to beat these levels.

These stages consist of:
Trap Blocks - Blocks that when stepped on, spikes come shooting you. Move quickly to avoid being killed.
White Blocks - Normal blocks used for moving around and steps.

[top]
5-Star Man

[top]
Obelisk Conquered!
Complete Stage 3 of Babel.

You unlock this level when you have gotten 5 Gold Prizes in the story mode on either normal or hard. Much like the first two Babel stages, the blocks fall in a completely random order, so block technique and patience is required . There are 215 steps needed to complete the level. Keep moving up, but be sure not to fall or die as you will have to restart from Step 1.

[top]
Taking on the Gods
Unlock Axis Mundi by earning all Gold Prizes on Normal or Hard.

The Axis Mundi stage is a stage in the Babel mode. All you have to do is get ALL Gold Prize in the Golden Playhouse story mode on Normal or Hard. To get gold, you can't die and must be fast. A God is Born!
Conquer the final stage of Babel.

This is the longest of the 4 Babel Stages. This stage requires about 250 - 300 steps for completion. The stage requires you to use all the techniques you have learned as well as some luck because of the randomness. As more blocks fall, be sure to watch for trap blocks, ice blocks, and blackholes. Patience and taking your time will help along this journey as well as knowing each block and techniques. Remember there are no checkpoints, so if you get over 200 steps in, and fall or die, then you must start from the beginning. When you have reached the top, and completed the stage, the trophy will unlock.

[top]
The Golden Child
Earn Gold Prizes on all Hard difficulty stages.

This trophy is one of the hardest one because it requires you to obtain a Gold Prize on all 9 Stages. The Stages on Hard are as expecting, harder than normal. To achieve the gold prize, you must be fast, careful and get to the top.

There are some big differences between normal and hard:
  • No undo's with . This mean you have to make sure you are careful when pushing and/or pulling blocks as if you mess up, you might have to start over.
  • Pillows only give you one retry now. So it's best to collect as many as you can for emergencies.
  • No safety bonus at the top. Keep climbing and collecting to coins to keep a nice chain going.
  • Try to get a feeling for each stage. You can refer to the Stage trophies above for Video walkthroughs on hard.

A Mystery Within a Puzzle
Uncover the truth behind Rapunzel.

After completing the 64 stages of the Rapunzel game, you will get this sequence of buttons:

This will only work after you have completed all 64 levels first.

When you get back to the title screen of the Rapuzel game (make sure its where you see Rapunzel, not the high scores) and enter in the sequence. If entered correctly, the color changes from pink to purple activating the Extra Levels. Hit to play and just begin the first level and the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Past a Heap of Puzzles
Beat Stage 64 of Rapunzel.

This game can be found within the Stray Sheep Bar located by the jukebox. It basically mimics the gameplay only instead of the floor under you collapsing, you only get a certain amount of moves to use. The higher the level is, the more complex the stage will be. Be sure to move the blocks accordingly to the number of moves you have. You can always press to undo a move you have made. The object is much like the gameplay objective, get to the top. There are four items you will find through out the levels to help boost your scoring. There are a total of 64 levels you need to complete to finish the Rapunzel main game, this does not include the extra stages that follow.

[top]Confessionals

After each level, you will get to a landing. Go to the confessional booth (straight back from the stairs, gold with red curtains). Here you will be asked a random question that will affected your Karma Meter. Your answer will either be Chaos (red side) or Law (blue side). There is a variety of questions asked per stage, so there is no way to memorize the answer unless you forget to save and have to be asked a few times.

  • Jonathan Ariga (Johnny)
  • Tobias Nebbins (Toby)
  • Erica Anderson
  • Boss
  • Voice
  • Trisha/Rue Ishida

[top]Items

You find these items throughout the game. Remember though, you can only carry ONE at a time. Some of these items can also be bought on the landings between levels by talking to the Merchant Sheep. These items help make your journey to the top a bit easier if used correctly.
  • Checkpoint - Finding one of these happens mid way through a puzzle. Once finding these comes in handy in case you die, you do not have to start from the start of the puzzle. (Make sure you have retrys)
  • Enigma Coins - You find these throughout the levels. Collect them to purchase items. These also help your score as each pile is worth 1,000 points.
  • Bible - This item helps you blow enemies (sheep) off the screen all at once.
  • Mystic Pillow (3,000 coins) - These are good, these are your retries. Collect these to help prevent you from getting a game over. Each difficulty has different pillow amounts.
    • Easy - 3 retries
    • Normal - 2 retries
    • Hard - 1 retry

  • Dark Block (3,000 coins)- This allows you to place a non-moving block down where ever you choose.
  • White Block (5,000 coins) - This allows you to place a movable block where ever you choose.
  • Bell (8,000 coins) - These will help turn special or trap blocks around you into normal blocks for easier access.
  • Energy Drink (9,000) - This will give you the ability to jump up two blocks instead of one.

[top]Block Types

White Blocks - These are your normal blocks. These ones can be pushed and/or pulled.

Dark Blocks - These blocks are heavier then the white blocks and take a bit longer to push and/or pull.

Unmovable Blocks - These blocks you can not move at all. No pushing and/or pulling. You can tell the apart from the dark blocks by the marking on the block.

Cracked Blocks -These blocks will break either when you step on them once or twice. The number of steps depends on the visiblility of the cracks you see. The blocks can be pushed and/or pulled.

Spring Blocks - When you stand on these blocks, you will be bounced 5-6 blocks up. They can be pulled and/or pushed but be sure to place them right as when you are shoot up, you can't move over.

Ice Blocks - These blocks are slippery. When trying to walk on them you will slide either off the platform or slide until you hit a solid block. You can climb up on one without sliding though. These blocks can be pulled and/or pushed.

Trap Blocks - These blocks can kill you. When you step on one spikes will come up, so quickly jump on then off the release the spikes. They only trigger once. You can pull and/or push these blocks.

Bomb Blocks - These blocks will explode. Once you step on the block it will ignite and when it blows up it turns the surrounding blocks into cracked blocks. You can pull and/or push these blocks

Vortex Block - These bloks have a big blue/black hole in the top. If you step on the block, it's a game over. If you push a block onto it, it will destroy it. Avoid these blocks as much as possible. You can push and/or pull these blocks.

Mouth/Monster Block - There blocks move on their own. You can still move them but beware, they move. Stepping on the blocks disarms it. If you hang in front of the block, the tongue will push you off. You can push and/or pull these blocks.

Random Block - These blocks have red curtains around them. When stepped on, they can turn into any block, so be careful for traps. You can push and/or pull these blocks.

[top]Enemies

White Sheep
These sheep are just trying to get to the top. They will push if you get to close to them but they will not try to come to you. They can however be annoying and get in your way while moving blocks, so just smack them out of the way.

Horned Sheep

Much like the White Sheep, their main focus is climbing. They will not come after you but they will not hesitate to push you off if you are in the way.

Giant Sheep

These sheeps have one main focus. That focus is to not let you get higher. They will come after you and try to push you off, so you need to push them first.

Black Sheep

Carrying a big hammer, these sheep will try and push you off. They are quick so try and avoid them. Push them off when ever you get the chance to.

Red Sheep

These are the enemies you need to watch for. Unlike the other enemies, they will not push you, they kill you by swinging their axe down at you. They are fast and come at you, so stay or push them first.

Ant

These enemies can not harm you by pushing you. They simple scurry across the blocks and even now and then get in your way. They are something you do not even need to pay attention too.

[top]Techniques
