[top]Tips & Strategies

  • Since you have the choice, I suggest you use the save you used to collect all of the collectables in the main game. In my case at least, I had overpowered weapons and far too much resources to aid me.
  • This DLC can be completed within an hour, and can be ran through quicker with a co-op partner.
  • There are a few heavy-hitting enemies in this DLC, namely the Alien Necromorphs and a new variant of the Stalker, but they are only in chapter one.
  • In chapters two an three you will see a cult leader with a machete while Isaac and Carver are dealing with their insanity. YOU CANNOT DAMAGE HIM here. Don't back yourself into a corner and find out that he's cutting your insides, just keep moving until the vision goes away.
  • In chapter two you will get to a room with the objective, but Isaac and Carver will have more hallucinations. During this time YOU CANNOT KILL THE ENEMIES. Instead, you need to shoot a tape-made image of the marker that's on the glass. Shooting it enough will stop the hallucination and allow you to continue.

[top]Cheats, Glitches, & Exploits

Infinite Ammo Glitch

Once you get to a bench for the first time you will unlock a new feature known as the weapon crafting arena. This arena lets you craft weapons and test them having no effect on trophies or the game. You can enter the arena by going to Solo Campaign Weapon Crafting Arena. Enter the arena then just save and quit. You should now have infinite ammo for your current playthrough. This works for Regular, Pure Survival, Classic and Hardcore mode! Note: This glitch can turn off randomly, if it does, you can go back to the arena and do it again.

Thanks Platicus for informing me of this glitch!

Cheers.

Complete Standard and Classic Modes and receive the Devil Horns. (Must do this at first, I guess).

1. Start Pure Survival and get to Chapter 3 - the room with the bench. Save and Quit.
2. Start Hardcore and get to Chapter 3 - the room with the bench. Save and Quit.
Now you have 3 or 4 save files - Standard, Classic, Pure Survival and Hardcore.
3. Quit Game to XMB Menu.
4. Delete DS 3 Game Data (in my case I had 2 game data files, so I got rid of both). Don't delete the save files (back them up on a thumb drive, just in case)
5. Start DS 3.

6. Start Pure Survival and it will load up Chapter 3 bench location. You'll get a pop up message "Devil Horns unlocked and put in Safe". Works for me. YAY!!! Save and Quit.

7. Start Hardcore and it will load up Chapter 3 bench location. You'll get a pop up message "Devil Horns unlocked and put in Safe". Works for me. YAY!!! Save and Quit.

Cool exploit I thinks!

Note: I'm playing Hardcore with the Devil Horns ... but I haven't installed 1.02 patch. I don't know what would happen after the patch. But then again, I wouldn't want to find out until I have completed Hardcore.

[top]Roadmap

Step 1: Standard Playthrough

Just play through the DLC regularly. I suggest that you use the save that you collected all of the collectables on in the main game to make this easier. But just casually play through the game for this step. It's also a good idea to try to get a co-op partner, as that can cut the time of the DLC almost in half and allow you to get Heaven Can Wait. You'll also want to either kill or let the cult leader live in this playthrough and remember which you did. It really doesn't matter what you choose, but he does drop resources when killed so you may want to let him live in this playthrough.

Step 2: Pure Survival Playthrough

This step should be used to play Pure Survival and to clean up any other trophy you may have. Chances are you got most in your first playthrough, meaning you only need to finish on pure survival for the trophy Pure Lunacy. If you're having trouble you can always take advantage of exploits found in the cheats/exploits section, namely the Devil Horns (which are a one-shot kill). Once this step is done you'll more than likely have all of the trophies in the Awakened DLC.

[top]Trophies

[top]
Bad Moon Rising
Complete Dead Space 3 Awakened.

You will unlock this trophy after completing chapters one, two and three. This can be accomplished within an hour or two and doesn't take too much effort.

[top]
Heretic
Awakened: Kill the Unitologist Cult Leader.

In Chapter 3 you will be in a vision where you see the cult leader, with moons in the background and markers all around. You'll need to periodically shoot the markers when they turn yellow/orange and avoid the cult leader because you can't kill him. After the vision, shit will hit the fan and the cult leader will be on the floor in front of you, kneeling. At this point, you can either shoot him for this trophy or walk by him for True Believer.

True Believer
Awakened: Allow the Unitologist Cult Leader to survive.

At this point, you can either walk past him for this trophy or shoot him for Heretic.

Get to the Chopper!
Awakened: Escape from Tau Volantis to the Terra Nova.

You will get this at the end of chapter one/at the start of chapter two when you get to the ship and escape from Tau Volantis. This will be after a ladder and a part with Isaac and Carver going crazy.

[top]
Pure Lunacy
Completed Dead Space 3 Awakened in Pure Survival Mode.

Pure Survival is all about resource management. You need to carefully ration your resources and make what's needed to survive the game. There are close to no item drops at all, and the enemies only drop resources. What you'll need to craft will more than likely come down to health packs and ammo, which of course require somatic gel and scrap metal. If that wasn't enough you also are set on hard difficulty. If you are having absolute trouble you can always use the devil horns and infinite ammunition exploits that are explained in the exploit section of this guide. Doing these pretty much ruin the experience though, since you will have a one-shot kill gun with infinite amounts of ammo. I also highly recommend you play with a friend and just run through the DLC, you can make it to the end in about an hour or two's time.

[top]
Just the Tip
Awakened: Craft a Weapon using a MK-II Weapon Tip.

There aren't very many weapon tips in Awakened. The very first one will be right after the first bench, after going through the door turn right to see a MK-II Directed Suspension Field. Pick this up, go back to the bench and craft any random weapon. Additionally, you can get a MK-II weapon tip by buying a resource pack either with real money or ration seals. Buy either the 30 or 60 ration seal costing packs to receive a MK-II weapon tip (check to make sure you're getting the right pack).

Heaven Can Wait
Awakened: Stasis your Co-op Partner when he is downed to slow his bleed out timer.

This is a simple trophy. Get a friend and put them near a regular necromorph. Let it rip the hell out of your partner and make sure they are downed and not killed, then press + to stasis your partner. They will be in stasis and bleeding at a slower rate, unlocking the trophy.

Supercharger
Awakened: Finish charging the reactor in under 90 seconds.

In Chapter 3 you will get to a large room with a large cylinder in the middle of it. This is the reactor. You need to go to the left and activate a panel, turning on the reactor. Now, you will enter Zero-G. What you need to do here is on the left you will see three different things on the wall, these hold orbs that you will need to put into the reactor. Keep an eye on them, and when a kinesis handle turns blue, use kinesis to open a hatch that gives you the orb. Now you need to stasis the reactor, grab the orb and shoot it into a hole inside the reactor (it doesn't matter which). Then, three yellow cylinders will pop out at the base of the reactor. Shoot these until they explode. Once you do this fly over to a door to the left and open it. This is pretty easy to do in under 90 seconds so you should have little to no problems with this trophy.

Note: I believe the requirements for charging the reactor vary from difficulty to difficulty. In the description above, this is based on a CASUAL playthrough. It had more steps when I played on Pure Survival.

[top]Collectables Guide

Text and Audio logs, weapon parts and upgrade circuits are all sitting out there for you to discover in Dead Space 3: Awakened. There is a total of 6 Logs, 7 Weapon Parts and 9 Circuits for a grand total of 21 collectable items. Follow the collectable guide below for locations, outlines of how many are in each chapter and for finding all of the collectables. Note: Finding all of the collectables isn't useful for trophies in any way and is not required for 100%'ing this DLC.
  • Weapon Parts - Used to craft weapons. There are many parts to find for many weapons and combinations to create.
  • Logs - Audio and text logs give you a back-story to the world you are exploring.
  • Circuits - Used to upgrade your weapons with things like reload speed, rate of fire and more.
