Dead or Alive 5 uses a triangle system to determine what moves beat what other moves. Think of it as Rock Paper Scissors.
- Strikes ( & ) beat Throws ()
- Throws () beat Holds ()
- Holds () beat Strikes ( & )

However badly time counters will still lose despite the Triangle System.

If you're having trouble passing Arcade, Time Attack, & Survival modes on the harder difficulties you can use Ryu's
into to deal with the AI. Credit to youtuber BloodBurger1 for the demonstration.

[top]Roadmap

Like any fighting game there is no one correct way to go obtaining all trophies. Feel free to do the trophies in any manner you see fit.

1) Play the Story Mode - This will give you a basic understanding on how the game works. During each fight you will also be giving a bonus mission to complete. While you don't have to complete any of the bonus missions it's in your best interest to do so since each bonus mission unlocks a title towards the 300 you will need. Also if you can't complete a bonus mission feel free to leave it alone and come back to it later since you can do that at any time. While playing through the story make sure you don't skip any of the cutscenes. And it's worth noting that the story mode has no difficulty setting and instead the AI will become tougher the deeper you progress into the story.

2) Complete all character's Command Training - There's a total of 24 characters. You start out with 19 characters, you unlock 3 during story mode and the other 2 after obtaining 100 & 300 titles respectively. You'll need complete the Command Training of all 24 characters.

3) Arcade, Time Attack, & Survival Modes - You'll need to complete Arcade, Time Attack, & Survival modes a total of 40 times on all difficulties. 16 for Arcade mode both Solo & Tag, 16 for Time Attack both Solo & Tag, and 8 times for Survival, solo only.

4) Online - This will most likely be the portion of the game that will take you the longest since you need to finish 1000 matches. The good thing about the online is that's there no trophy that requires you win so can you lose all 1000 matches and still get the trophy. However at the bare minimum you should try to get 10 wins which character since doing so unlocks a title towards the 300 for Alpha-152.

5) Miscellaneous/Clean Up - Get any other trophy you still might not have such as 100 versus matches, 50 specific tag throws, taking a picture in spectator mode, etc.

Anybody, Anytime, Anywhere
Fight 50 people through invitations.

It seems that straight out sending an invite to someone and have it count for this trophy. No in order for it to count you must be in training mode with throwdown challenges set on. Then it's just a matter of waiting for 50 throwdowns to be sent your way. It's possible to boost this trophy but unfortunately only the person in training mode will get the trophy, the person sending the throwdowns will not get it so you will need to take turns.

[top]
First Throwdown
Send a Throwdown Challenge to someone in your Fight List.

The easiest way to do this is to have a match with someone on your friends list(PSN) and after the match both of you add each others fighter list. Then it's just a matter of sending a throwdown challenge to one another. You don't even need to fight each other again. You could also send a throwdown challenge to anyone else you fought online and added to your fighter's list but the chances of them accepting are slim.

[top]
Akira Yuki
Unlock Akira.

Story related. Can not be missed.
You will unlock Akira along with all his costumes after you defeat him with Kokoro in the story mode in the 4th chapter.

[top]
Sarah Bryant
Unlock Sarah.

Story related. Can not be missed.
You will unlock Sarah along with all her costumes when you defeat her in the 6th chapter of the story mode with Tina. After defeating her you will still need to complete the rest of Tina's chapter which consists of one more match after this.

[top]
The Ultimate Hyper Clone
Unlock Alpha-152.

Unlocking Alpha-152 is no easy matter. As to do so you must unlock 300 out of the 524 titles. Which means you'll probably have to unlock a combination of both offline and online titles to make it easier on yourself.

[top]
Arcade Cleared

[top]
Arcade Master
Clear all courses in Arcade mode.

In order to get Arcade Master you must clear all Arcade courses both Solo and Tag on difficulties. At first only the first 4 difficulties are unlocked for you to play in order to unlock the last 4 difficulties you must clear the previous difficulty. The difficulties you must clear both on Solo and Tag are...

- Rookie
- Easy
- Normal
- Hard
- Champ
- True Fighter
- Master
- Legend

[top]
Time Attack Cleared
Clear 1 course in Time Attack mode.

[top]
Time Attack Master
Clear all courses in Time Attack mode.

Time Attack Master is essentially the same thing as Arcade Master only with a timer. Also just like Arcade Master you must clear all courses on Solo and Tag on all difficulties.

- Rookie
- Easy
- Normal
- Hard
- Champ
- True Fighter
- Master
- Legend

[top]
Survival Cleared
Clear 1 course in Survival mode.

[top]
Survival Master
Clear all courses in Survival mode.

Survival mode is mode where you face waves of enemies one right after another. You do regain health after a fight but not alot so try not to lose too much during each fight. Unlike Arcade & Time Attack Master, Survival Master only has Solo courses and no Tag courses. Unfortunately the number of opponents you face in Survival mode far outweighs the number of opponents you face in Arcade & Time Attack. The number of opponents you face depends on the difficulty.

- Rookie: 10
- Easy: 20
- Normal: 30
- Hard: 50
- Champ: 100
- True Fighter: 100
- Master: 100
- Legend: 100

There's no one correct way of doing it and everyone's method of getting this will be different. Your best bet of getting this is to choose a character your good with and let go for it. Here's an example video courtesy of BALLZ using Lisa.

Be aware that in order for your progress to save you will need to complete all of a character's command training in one sitting. [top]
Fighting in Style
Unlock all costumes.

Unlocking all the costumes in the game is no easy matter since you must fulfill certain conditions in order to do so.

- Complete the Story Mode.

- Finish Arcade, Time Attack, & the Survival modes on the 2 lowest difficulties with each character until you unlock their remaining costumes which will vary by character. Check the list in below to see how many costumes each character has. The toal number of costumes a character has minus the total number of costumes you've unlocked equals how many times you'll need to play Arcade, Time Attack, or Surival mode per character.

- Unlock all 5 unlockable characters. With the exception of the 5th character (Alpha-152), this shouldn't pose much of a problem since you get the first 3 by playing through the story and the 4th upon unlocking 100 titles. As soon as you unlock them they'll have all their costumes unlocked as well with the exception of Alpha-152 who has a 1 more costume to unlock by finishing any Arcade, Time Attack or Surival course

- Now comes the hard part since getting the last 3 costumes will be the real challenge. You will need to beat Arcade mode, Time Attack mode, & Survival mode on there highest difficulties without using continues.

Here's the total number of costumes for each character not including any of the DLC costumes.

Kasumi - 6
Brad Wong - 5
Mila - 6
Helena - 5

While in a Tag Battle by pressing grab you can call in your tag partner and perform a move that will switch out your characters as well as deal out a good amount of damage to your opponent by pressing throw (). The 50 tags can be done in 1P vs 2P versus or against the AI on the lowest difficulty. Here's a list of all the tags you can perform. Also make sure you finish the matches in order for it to count. Credit to Lasombra for finding most of these.

Here's a list of all the possible tag throws.
