[top]Tips & Strategies

- This game is very basic in terms of how to play. You are however going to want to save as many items for the Dante Must Die difficulty as you can, meaning don't go item happy on your first two playthroughs and try to stock up as much as you can.

- Try to buy all abilities, blue orbs, and purple orbs as soon as you possibly can as it will make the game much easier in the long run.

- Learn your enemies and their attacks. If you are able to tell which attacks enemies are going to perform before the attack launches you will save yourself some unnecessary deaths.

- Collect as many (if not all) the Blue Orb Fragments as you can in your first playthrough. On your second and third playthroughs any fragments you arleady collected will be replaced with yellow orbs which you may need on your Dante Must Die playthrough.

Dante Must Die Boss Strategies

Some of these tactics may be cheap but upon finding the easiest ways to deal with some of the bosses in this difficulty I came up with these. You can either use these tips or get really good with Ifrit. Some of these tactics will still require you to know your enemies and what attacks they may be going to use. Here is the list:

*NOTE - With the exception of the Vital Orb item you should NOT use any items during ANY of the boss fights unless I suggest it. You are going to want 3-4 Untouchables, 6-7 Devil Stars, and 2-3 Holy Waters for the final few bosses.

Phantom Fight 1 - Phantom Fight 1 isn't really too too bad. You will have to watch out for his frequent attacks and do your best to avoid them. The weapon of choice here would be Alastor. To deal with Phantom using Alastor is a pretty easy method but will require you to be able to dodge attacks well. Using the simple jump and slash downwards technique onto the back of Phantom is probably the easiest method. If you have full Devil Trigger, don't be afraid to use it on him. The downward slash will build up your Devil Trigger meter rather quickly.

Nelo Angelo Fight 1 - For this fight you are going to have no choice but to go into a melee fight with Nelo. Use Alastor for this fight and make use of your Devil Trigger but make sure to get a few hits in and get out of his way so you don't end up in one of his killer combos. When the fight gets taken up to the upper walkway, run over to the broken part of the ledge and simply taunt to fill your Devil Trigger Gauge. If the taunts aren't working, try moving around below him and taunting until you find the right position where you can taunt him from. Go up and Devil Trigger on him until you run out or scare him off a second time. if you run out of Trigger, jump back down and taunt some more and repeat the process. Once he gets up to the final ledge you will have to jump up quickly and jump back down if you plan to taunt him some more. Once your Trigger is full it is your chance to take some of his health out of the way. If more Trigger is needed, either use your Grenadegun or jump back down and taunt some more.

Phantom Fight 2 - For fight 2 you are going to want to use the same methods as fight number one. Make sure you avoid his jumps by double jumping out of the way here as he will try to jump on you more frequently in his final encounter.

Griffon Fight 1 - Just flat out don't fight him.

Nelo Angelo Fight 2 - There are two methods here. There is the cheap legit way and the flat out cheap way. The flat out cheap way will take a long time however unless you have yourself a turbo controller. The legit way is to use your melee skills with Alastor. The semi-cheap way would be to use Alastor but when you run out of Devil Trigger, jump onto the Pillar above where you sat the Sign of Chastity to get the Chalice. Once up top simply taunt him (This may not work if Nelo is too far away, in which case use your Grenadegun) but don't get too close to the edge where Nelo is hanging out because he will shoot you with one of his versions of the fireball. The flat out cheap method would be to jump up to the pillar and stand in the middle of the platform and equip Nightmare and Sparda. While you have Sparda equipped you can continuously fire Nightmare . You can do this to slowly chip away his life until he dies.

Griffon Fight 2 - Griffon fight two isn't too too bad. The best method here is to hop onto the platform above the door you tried to enter that spawned him and use IFrit to release 2-3 fully charged Fireballs at Griffon. Try to lure him into landing on that platform and when he dies, climb up the mast closest to you and walk onto on of the sail holders up top where you can't get hit. Jump into Devil Trigger and let an ambush of bullets fly from Ebony & Ivory. Jump back down and shoot at him until he makes a return trip to the ship to land and repeat this process while dodging all of his moves.

Griffon Fight 3 - This is where the boss fights start to suck. For this boss fight you are going to want to start off by shooting a few fireballs at Griffon as SOON as the fight begins. Switch to your Grenadegun and take the bird out of the air. Now comes the fun part. You will have to dodge his attacks and squeeze in a few shots from the Grenadegun to build up your Devil Gauge. Once it has been built up, run up to Griffon and unleash infernos on him one at a time over and over until he falls or you run out of Devil Trigger. If you run out, build it back up with Grenadegun shots, if he falls though do NOT attack him while he is down. Instead use that time to taunt him to build up your Devil Trigger so once he stands back up you can release another onslaught of infernos on him. Keep this process going and as long as you are lucky enough to hit him enough to make him fall each time then you don't really have to worry about taking much damage.

Nightmare Fight 1 - Some people say that using Ifrit for this fight is the easiest and fastest method however I am going to disagree with it being the easiest method. The easiest method is the Grenadegun and the Alastor technique "Air Raid". What you are going to want to do off the bat is make sure your Devil Trigger Gauge is full. For the entirety of the fight you are going to want to use your Grenadegun to shoot the little black blobs that freeze to gain Devil Trigger. Once Devil Trigger is full, head over to a portal and activate it to bring Nightmare up. Stay at his head while the four orbs are shooting those white little spikes at you. if the orb comes from his back and he starts shooting the white little beams from his mouth that travel the floor, double jump straight into devil form to remain in the air. Hover over the orb and blast it with Air Raid until the beam stops. Once it stops, land on his back and just use your sword on the orb to stop him from taking your Devil Gauge away. If after the little orbs shooting spikes end, he quickly moves his side towards you, double jump OVER his body and prepare to dodge those little spikes again while heading towards his face because a freeze beam usually always follows this attack. If you are at his rear, watch for the stupid little spikes he will shoot towards you like homing missiles. If you get absorbed into Nightmare in this fight you will get the chance to fight a phantom Phantom. The phantom Phantom isn't too bad so don't be afraid to get absorbed when Nightmare is low on health but be careful getting absorbed early because defeating the phantom inside too early will cause the lights to stay on longer which may infringe on the technique used to defeat him.

Nelo Angelo Fight 3 - Nelo Angelo's fight is probably one of the harder fights. The best method I can come up with for him is to start the fight off with 3-4 Fireballs that are FULLY charged right off the bat. Do three if on the third one he starts charging up his own fireball, if he starts to attempt hitting you with his sword you can get to a fourth shot in. Switch to Alastor and use your Grenadegun to build up your Devil Trigger while avoiding Nelo's attacks. Once you have ample Devil Trigger Double Jump into an Air Raid. If Nelo floats in the air to shoot his magic swords at you, hit him with your Air Raid to knock him to the ground instantly. Keep repeating the process of using your Grenadegun to build your gauge and using Air Raid. If you time everything just right you shouldn't have much trouble taking him down with little health being taken from you.

Nightmare Fight 2 - The easiest method is the Grenadegun and the Alastor technique "Air Raid". If you get absorbed into Nightmare in this fight you will get the chance to fight a phantom Griffon. The phantom Griffon is still a pain to defeat so try not to get absorbed even when Nightmare is low on health but if you are going to get absorbed be careful getting absorbed early because defeating the phantom inside too early will cause the lights to stay on longer which may infringe on the technique used to defeat him.

Nightmare Fight 3 - The easiest method is the Grenadegun and the Alastor technique "Air Raid". Sometimes even if you are at his face he will send out his spinning arm and it always takes the same routes over and over so just Devil Trigger and Air Raid from a corner of the room to avoid getting hit from this attack. If you have full Devil Trigger you shouldn't get hit once you run out. If you get absorbed into Nightmare in this fight you will get the chance to fight a phantom Nelo Angelo. The phantom Nelo Angelo is still a pain to defeat so try your very hardest not to get absorbed even when Nightmare is low on health but if you are going to get absorbed be careful getting absorbed early because defeating the phantom inside too early will cause the lights to stay on longer which may infringe on the technique used to defeat him. Get him down to one quarter health and Trish will try to help Nightmare by shooting waves of electricity at you so simply avoid her attacks especially when trying to fill the Devil Gauge. Keep defeating him til the orb pops out of his back and he gains more health. Here is where you are going to get cheap. Drop down to the ground immediately and hit start as fast as possible because he will be attacking ferociously. Use a Holy Water on him which should easily take between 1/3 and 1/2 of his health. Once that connects, use another. You SHOULD only need two of them but if a third is needed, don't be bashful.

Mundus Fight 1 - For this fight you are going to want to fight him normally but this time use to fly around the screen faster and use to vortex through energy beams if he uses them. Keep shooting at him until you are close. Once you are close, if you haven't already taken down his shield then do so now. Once his defense is down and you have full Devil Trigger, use to unleash the fierce dragon. After hitting him, destroy his shield orbs to get more Devil Trigger and use a Devil Star to finish filling up the Devil Trigger for a bigger hit. This will take like 4-5 shots from the dragon depending on how much Devil Trigger you have when activating the dragon and how much you hit Mundus with your normal shots.

Mundus Fight 2 - Once you get to this fight, if you don't have much health let Mundus kill you to replenish health when you use a Yellow Orb instead of wasting a Vital Star. This fight can either be long and hard or fast and cheap as hell. For the long and difficult way, simply take him down as you would on the other difficulties while dodging his wide assortment of attacks which come one right after the other in a seemingly endless barrage. For the easy method you will need to use 3-4 of your untouchables. Once the fight starts, jump onto the platforms he creates and use Devil Trigger to slash away at Mundus. Once Devil Trigger is over, use an untouchable and jump into the lava at the base of Mundus and start swiping away at him with your sword. Once your Untouchable ends, press start as fast as you could and activate another. Repeat this process until you have fully defeated Mundus, it is literally that easy when you have these untouchables so I highly recommend saving them for this fight.

Mundus Fight 3 - This fight is really easy. All you are going to have to do is activate Devil Trigger off the bat and Vortex Mundus as much as you can until the Devil Trigger Gauge is completely diminished. Once Devil Trigger is done, you should have more then enough health to finish off the job simply using your normal attacks. For the second part to this use Ebony & Ivory and smash the button as fast as possible to ensure he goes down. You can also activate Devil Trigger during this shootout to do that much extra damage to Mundus which will make it so you require less hits on him to finish taking him out.

Griffon's First Encounter:

Griffon's first encounter occurs in Mission 9. This is the mission that you find Ifrit on, then must use it after defeating Griffon to proceed through the level. In your second and third playthroughs you will already have Ifrit so you can skip going into the room where you need to grab Ifrit and thus never spawning Griffon for the first time. Just go straight through the door that requires you to hit it using Ifrit and skip that battle altogether.

[top]Roadmap

Playthrough 1
- Complete the game on Normal difficulty learning the enemies and the levels. Complete your no damage Mission, S ranked mission, complete the game without using any yellow orbs, complete all secret missions, collect all fragments, and start purchasing all abilities and blue orbs.

Playthrough 2
- Complete the game on hard difficulty. Collect any Secret Missions or Blue Fragments that you may have missed in playthrough 1. Collect as many Yellow Orbs as you can in preparation for Dante Must Die Mode. Also take the time to complete the I Read You Like A Book trophy but while going for this, don't waste many yellow orbs. Instead, each time you get a new entry you needed, save the game and just reload if you die. There are however a few that are basically going to need you to be killed by certain enemies.

Playthrough 3
- You shouldn't have any trophies left by now except to complete the game on Dante Must Die difficulty so now you can focus on just getting through the game. Complete the game and obtain your new trophy.

Clean Up
- if you haven't received the platinum and still need any other trophies, once you complete the game on Dante Must Die difficulty start another New Game+ on Normal difficulty to rush through and grab whatever it is you are missing to obtain your platinum trophy.

Warming Up!
Finish the game on Normal Mode

For this trophy you are going to need to start a new game in Devil May Cry which will automatically revert it to Normal mode. While playing on Normal Mode the enemies will have a bit of strength to them however they are easy in comparison to Hard Mode and Dante Must Die Mode.

You will need to complete the game on Normal before you can even play on Hard Mode so you will get the majority of the trophies on Normal Mode. I recommend buying everything you can on Normal Mode as the prices get hiked up quite a bit starting on Hard Mode. There are 23 Missions within the Main Story that you will have to play.

After completing the Boss Fight against Mundus you will need to escape the castle within the time frame provided. Once you get to the Main Hall you will fall through the floor and have to fight a Mundus which looks like he has been absorbed into Nightmare. This is a pretty easy fight and can be easily beaten using a quick Devil Trigger onslaught. Once you take out this weakened Mundus' health bar you will be informed you have to take him out using your Ebony & Ivory weapons. keep shooting until it triggers a cutscene taking you to the final part of Mission 23 which is a simple plane ride through the mountain where you simply have to shoot any obstacles in the way. Once you clear Mission 23 you will be presented with a cutscene, the credits, and fianlly your overall score for the story. During the overall score viewing you will receive this trophy.

Boiling!!
Finish the Game on Hard Mode

In order to unlock Hard Mode you will first need to complete the game on Normal mode. Once you beat the game on Normal you will have the option right away to start a New Game + by loading up your last save. I highly recommend not going to New Game as you will wind up starting a new game without any of the abilities, health upgrades and items you saved from your last playthrough.

once you have unlocked hard you simply need to complete all 23 Missions again to obtain this trophy. Once you complete the game and watch the ending credits you will receive this trophy.

The enemies will be different on Hard Mode as they were in your first playthrough, for instance, you will start fighting some of the enemies you didn't see until late in your Normal playthrough really early in the beginning. The enemies overall don't require much hitting to defeat, however, they will do a bit more damage then they were doing on Normal. You still shouldn't have much of a problem beating any of the enemies on this difficulty except for maybe the boss', Try to conserve as many Untouchables, Devil Stars, Holy Waters, and Yellow Orbs for your Dante Must Die Mode.

[top]
Combustible!!!
Complete the Game on Dante Must Die Mode

In order to unlock "Dante Must Die" difficulty you will first need to complete the game on Hard Mode. Once you have DMD (Dante Must Die) difficulty unlocked, choose to play it as a New Game+ as you did with Hard Mode as it will make it easier if you are playing through the game for the third time using all of your abilities and such.

I highly recommend you go through Normal and Hard without using any Holy Waters, Yellow Orbs, and other key items so you can have them stockpiled for this run through the game as you may wind up needing them here. The enemies on this difficulty pack a bigger punch then they did in the prior difficulties and you will find yourself needing to fight and beat numerous difficult enemies within certain time frames on this difficulty as an added challenge.

There are no real tips I can give as to beating the game on DMD difficulty except to only use Yellow Orbs when you are at a part in the mission that is near the end and had a difficult time getting to the end of that mission. Also still try saving your Holy Waters and such until you absolutely need them as replacing them can get to be quite expensive.

* Note - While your sword "Sparda" does not have a Devil Trigger it does constantly do double the damage that Alastor would and has the same moves as it with the exception of Air Raid, Air Hike, and Cyclone. In any boss fights I recommend heading in with a full Devil Trigger Gauge and use it. Once it is all used, switch to Sparda and go to town. If you have full Devil Trigger and switch to Sparda and then switch back Sparda will have drained your Devil Trigger.

Once you complete Mission 23 on DMD Mode and view the credits you will receive this trophy.

The Secret's Out
Complete all Secret Missions

Secret Missions are hidden throughout the game. You will not encounter these through normal gameplay unless you happen to stumble upon them by accident. Here is a list of all Secret Missions and how to succeed at completing them. For each Secret Mission you complete you also get a Blue Fragment except for the last one which you get a full Blue Orb during the mission.
If you fail a Secret Mission don't worry. just finish the mission or head out of the room and simply go back in to try again (Unless noted otherwise in the guide).

Once you complete all 12 of the following Secret Missions you will receive this trophy. These don't need to be done all in the same playthrough however are much easier on Normal difficulty as long as you use NG+.

Secret Mission #1: Critical Hit
Location: Mission 3
Availability: After completing the Boss fight against Phantom.
Mission Objective: Defeat the enemy in one hit.
Locating this Mission: Once you complete the boss fight against Phantom as the Giant Lava Spider the blue door you used to enter the level will open up. Instead of heading through that blue door, head into the brown door you used to go across the bridge that broke earlier on. Go out to the broken bridge and hop down into the water.

Completing this Mission: Once inside head to the little battle room where you fought the Sargasso earlier. A Sin Scissors will appear. Run around the bottom of the level until the Sin Scissors is really close to the bottom. It will open up its scissors and attempt to slash away at you. Hit the scissors once with your sword and this will knock the scissors to the side of this monster and it will need a second to recooperate. While it is still for a second, move in til you are right on top of this thing and right in its face. Use your shotgun and target the monster using . While targeting and right in its face, take one shot with the shotgun using and if done correctly this will destroy the Sin Scissors. make sure to collect your Blue Fragment before heading back up, then step into the portal and you will clear this mission.

Secret Mission #2: Phantom Baby
Location: Mission 4
Availability: As soon as the mission starts.
Mission Objective: Defeat 100 phantom Babies within the time limit.
Locating this Mission: As soon as the mission starts head into the door that led you to mission 3. It is the door that has a beam of light shining through. It is located right behind Dante the second the mission starts.

Completing this Mission: This one isn't really as easy as it appears to be, however isn't difficult by any means either. You will have 30 seconds to defeat 100 of those pesky little spiders that crawl along the floor. As soon as the mission begins start swinging your sword and try to take out the first little group giving you around 25 kills. Next run straight ahead of where you started to the opposite corner past the brown door and take out a large chunk of those spiders bringing your count to about 50-60. Now head directly back to where the Pride of Lion was at the head of the room and there will be two rather large groups of spiders gathered here. Slash away at these as well until you have amassed your 100 kills and the timer disappears. Head back to the blue door you came in and collect your Blue Fragment. Head through the door and you will clear this mission.

Secret Mission #3: Phantom Baby II
Location: Mission 4
Availability: As soon as you complete Secret Mission #2
Mission objective: Defeat 100 Phantom Babies within the time limit without using any weapons.
Locating this Mission: After completing Secret Mission #2 and returning to Main Corridor head down the staircase. Once you get to the door on the left you used the rusty key on the Phantom will return and start trying to chase you down the stairs shooting fireballs at you. Run all the way down to the bottom of the staircase and run to the very end of the hallway and there will be a painting on the wall with a door to the right. This is the room you got the Blue Fragment in Mission 2. Head inside to start the mission.

Completing this Mission: This one can be a bit frustrating trying to run around like a lunatic squashing all of the bugs on the floor. However, this is the only way to complete this mission successfully. The little spiders don't really move around all too much so they can be dealt with fairly easily and you can stay in the same spot when you enter the door for the most part. If you find yourself having trouble getting all 100 squashed within the 30 seconds allotted, attempt this in Devil Mode by hitting . Using Devil Mode will make Dante run much faster making this challenge quite reasonably easy. Once all 100 have been squashed in under the thirty seconds collect your Blue Fragment and leave the room to clear this mission.

SECRET MISSION #4 CAN BE MISSABLE!

If you attempt Secret Mission #4 and Fail, it will disappear completely until your next playthrough. Read what this mission is about and make sure you stock up before going in. Make a save file right before entering the arena and while doing this Mission if you think you are going to fail, quit out using the XMB before it shows the Mission Failed Screen or you will have to wait til next playthrough.

Secret Mission #4: The Three Beasts
Location: Mission 4
Availability: After defeating the Shadow
Mission objective: Defeat the three Shadows
Locating this Mission: This Secret Mission is located in the room you fought the Marionettes in during Mission #1. Go down the spiral hallway to where you found the last secret mission but instead of taking the last door on the right, take the last door on the left heading back into the Hanger. In the back of the room is the spiral switch on the wall that you have to hit with your sword until it fully lights up to activate the elevator. Go down the elevator to the awaiting challenge.

Completing this Mission: This mission can be irritating. Try to bring a Vital Star down here with you as at some point you may need it. You will ahve to fight three of the shadow enemies at once and it is no picnic. Try to have them all on the screen so you can anticipate any attacks. This challenge gets easier as you kill them one by one. Focus on trying to target one at a time and DO NOT use your sword until they show they weak point (the ball). Use Ebony and Ivory for this and go hogwild shooting the wolves until one of them shows its weak spot. Once one shows its weak spot run up to hit and attack it with your sword until the wolf starts glowing red. Once he starts to glow DO NOT attack any of the other shadows or else he will recover. Instead just wait for him to blow himself up. Once the first one is down repeat this process for the other two. The first two will drop some minor health orbs for you to grab, it helps, trust me. The best bet with these guys is to stay on the move, keep jumping around and shooting but keep an eye on them as they can throw in some tricky attacks like trying to spear you out of the air. Once you kill the last one he will drop Orbs and a Blue Fragment. Collect it and leave the arena to complete this mission.

Secret Mission #5: One Eyed Evil
Location: Mission 7 (Although I recommend backtracking here after completing Mission 7 before starting mission 8 so your health isn't constantly decreasing)
Availability: After defeating the Phantom in Mission 7
Mission objective: Get one Kyklops to take out another Kyklops
Locating this Mission: This mission can be found in the room where you found the Rusty key in Mission 6 (The room with all of the sewers).

Completing this Mission: For this mission you have to make one enemy Spider defeat the other one. They will be attempting to defeat you but you must get them in the way of each other so their attacks hit each other. The best recommendation would be to jump around while running from one side of the room to the other while they keep throwing out attacks while trying to dodge any of the attacks that come your way. There really isn't much to say here but avoid their attacks as they are the ones who are going to need to destroy each other. Once one has destroyed the other and orbs have fallen, feel free to take out the second one fast and collect your Blue Fragment. Leave the door to get your Mission Success screen.

On the Playstation 2 version there was a glitch where you could just hop on top of one of the sewers and just jump up and down and the Kyklops' wouldn't be able to hit you and they would just jump on each other to death. I was not able to attempt this Secret Mission like this however, so I can't say 100% that this method still works.

Secret Mission #6: Wandering Ghosts
Location: Mission 11
Availability: After defeating the Death Scythe
Mission objective: Acquire the blue orb that's floating in the air.
Locating this Mission: head back through the door you came in from the last room of Mission 10 right at the beginning of the level.

Completing this Mission: This mission is going to require "Air Hike" so you can double jump. There will be five Sin Scissors waiting for you once you enter the courtyard. What you are going to want to do is find the blue orb floating in the air. Once you have found the orb you are going to want to start jumping up before the Sin Scissors start swarming the ground so that you can jump on top of on of their sets of scissors and jump up to the orb. This requires a bit of luck and a bit of skill. For the most part the enemies will leave you alone as long as you are jumping so keep yourself in the air as much as possible. Once you collect the orb you are free to leave or you can stay and kill all the enemies, the choice is yours. Either way once you head back out the door you will get the Mission Success screen.

Secret Mission #7: Water Prison
Location: Mission 14
Availability: After completing Mission 13
Mission objective: Defeat the 8 Blades under water using the Needlegun.
Locating this Mission: Once you start up mission 14 had back into the ship and make your way back to the Captains room where the Statue of Time was located. Swim over to the Captain and press or to start this mission.

Completing this Mission: This mission isn't really all that difficult. Simply use your Needlegun to take out all of the Blades swimming in the water. Lock on with and shoot using . The only thing you really have to watch out for is the enemies spear attacks where they shoot spears at you under the water but even if you take most of the hits you still shouldn't have a hard tiem completing this Secret Mission.

Secret Mission #8: Treasure Of The Reaper
Location: Mission 15
Availability: After Completing Mission 14
Mission objective: Defeat all the enemies.
Locating this Mission: This mission is located near the start of Mission 14. Once Mission 15 starts, head back towards the beginning of 14. Once you go down the elevator near where the beginning of 14, was head off to the right. At the end of the walkway, before stepping onto the spiral moving floor with the spike traps, will be a picture on the wall. Press while standing in front of this picture.

Completing this Mission: This mission isn't impossible but it isn't easy either. For this mission they want you to take out 3 Shadows. The shadows spawn one at a time over time so make sure you take them out fast while they are alone. There are two ways you can do this. Either attack them the normal way which may be hard since you are fighting them in a small corridor or you can wait for them to try to spear you, jump on top, then activate Devil Trigger and unleash hell on them with Ebony & Ivory. Once one starts glowing ed, do not attack another one, instead just jump around to avoid their attacks whilst you wait for them to blow up. Then repeat your method for the remaining two. If you run out of Devil Trigger during this fight and are relying on it, try to squeeze in a taunt between gun fires. Once all three have been vanquished and you have collected your Blue Fragment, head back to the elevator and take it up. On the way up the Mission Successful screen will show up.

Secret Mission #9: Stairway of Tranquility
Location: Mission 16
Availability: After leaving the coliseum
Mission objective: Acquire the Blue Orb at the end of the stairway of death.
Locating this Mission: Once you start the mission take the elevator up into the Coliseum and leave through the door you entered it in Mission 15. As soon as you are outside the Coliseum turn around and head right back inside.

Completing this Mission: This mission can quickly become a pain in the rear. It is as frustrating as it is simple. You simply just need to use the heads of the skulls to reach the Blue Fragment at the top of the stairs of skulls. Alignment with the staircase of skulls is crucial. The Sargasso will not attack you here so don't worry about that, nor will they move, although they will try to intimidate you by chattering their teeth together. Simply align yourself just perfect and use the skulls to jump on to reach the top of the staircase and jump to grab the fragment. Once you have collected the Blue Fragment head out of the coliseum to get the Mission Successful screen.

Secret Mission #10: Shadow of Darkness
Location: Mission 16
Availability: After defeating Nightmare for the first time
Mission objective: Hunt down and kill all the Shadows
Locating this Mission: This mission can only be obtained after defeating Nightmare the first time. Head back out the blue door after finishing Nightmare and head down the hallway. This mission is located in the airplane room.

Completing this Mission: The first two Shadows are waiting for you inside the airplane room. Get ready to deal with them as soon as you enter this room. Taking on two at once isn't half bad. By this point you should have some great deal dealing with Shadows as this is your 3rd Secret Mission where you have to contend with a number of these beasts. Take the two out and head back into the Great Hall through the blue door. The third Shadow is located near the broken staircase. Hop up there and take care of him. If you find yourself fighting him and getting hit a lot try to fight him near the edge and hop he may fall off. If not then just get him glowing red and hop off the platform and let him explode himself up top. The fourth and final Shadow is waiting for you in the room through the door below the Statue of Time in the Great Hall. Walk through the door and be ready for him. Once he is defeated, collect the Blue Fragment and head back through the red door. This will trigger the Mission Successful screen.

SECRET MISSION #11 CAN BE MISSABLE!
if you attempt to get across the bridge and fall in, this Secret Mission will lock itself out. Make sure you use Air Raid or vortex to get across the bridge. If you fall in or do not complete this mission first try DO NOT save after the mission, quit out through the XMB before the Mission Failed screen appears.

Secret Mission #11: Blue Gem in the Sky
Location: Mission 17
Availability: As soon as the mission starts
Mission objective: Acquire the blue orb located high in the sky
Locating this Mission: As soon as Mission 17 begins, head back through the portal to the broken bridge. Air Raid or Vortex your way across the bridge. DO NOT FALL INTO THE WATER OR YOU WILL LOCK OUT THIS SECRET MISSION.

Completing this Mission: Once you get to the opposite side of the bridge here a Death Scythe will appear. What you are supposed to do is utilize the vortex's that the Death Scythe will create to reach the orb floating up above the middle of the broken part of the bridge. If you attempt this method just be careful not to fall in the water. It will cause this mission to fail and lock you out and you will have to reset your game prior to saving to be able to try again. There is two other ways to complete this rather then just relying on the vortexes.

One method is to use a vortex and ride it to its height and double jump followed by Air Raid and just Air Raid to the fragment. The other method is to defeat the Death Scythe and climb the alcove to the door that would lead you back to where you first encountered Phantom and Nightmare. and once up top, Air Hike and once at the peak of your second jump use Air Raid and either float over to the fragment or Vortex your way to it. Be careful if you are using this method as it may not work if you do not have enough Devil Trigger.

Once you have grabbed the fragment, whether or not the Death Scythe is vanquished, head back across the broken bridge and hop back through the left portal to end this mission.

Secret Mission #12: Hidden Bangle
Location: Mission 21
Availability: At the start of the mission
Mission objective: Retrieve the hidden bangle that resides in the secret corridor
Locating this Mission: Find the Statue of Time in the starting room of Mission 21. Walk to the wall it is facing and press to initiate this final Secret Mission.

Completing this Mission: For this mission you will start out in a set of hallways. In these hallways when you get to the first fork take the right side. This room will have a full blue orb for you to collect. Take out the Nobody in here to open up the tunnels. Now take any of the tunnels out as they all lead to the same place. You will fight two more Nobodys along the way. Once you get through the tunnels you will find yourself in a big lava pit. Inside this lava pit will be a dinosaur skeleton again only this time he breathes fire on one platform only so there is nothing to deflect back at him. jump to the platform and take him out by using melee on his head. Once he has been destroyed two (or more if on higher difficulties) Frosts will appear. Take them out using your Ifrit to make these eye platforms appear. Go up to the first platform and take it up to the next eye platform. Take that one out to a floating rock and jump on it. Now jump to the now visible Bangle of Time. Collect it to end this final Secret Mission.

Smashing Sensation
Achieve an S rank on any Mission

Due to lacking abilities to make fighting enemies easier and your slower running speed, getting an S Rank on Missions during your first playthrough on Normal may become rather difficult, however I highly recommend doing this trophy on your first playthrough using Mission #5.

Mission #5 is incredibly easy, all you have to do is defeat the shadow that appears in the beginning of the game and make your way to the door at the very bottom of the Tower which is also easy. First start off by beating the Shadow as fast as you can. Once his weak spot pops up, give it a few slashes to make him glow red. Once he is glowing red don't bother with him anymore and forget the orbs he is going to drop. Instead head up the broken castle walls until you get to the part where you fought Nelo Angelo in the last Round of Mission 4's Boss battle. Jump up to the pillar at the end of the walkway that connects to a wall by the hole in the walkway where you are going to be jumping down to continue through the door. Jump up there and collect the 100 Red Orbs. If you haven't collected the Blue Fragment, do so now. Jump down and head through the door into the bedroom. Exit the bedroom into the hallway and jump straight down into the middle. Once you land at the bottom, run to the only door that is down there and go through to end the Mission.

Your Target time for this Mission to beat is 2:00 and the orbs you will need to collect needs to be at least 100.

In case you wish to do this on any other Missions, here is a list of all the Missions times and Minimum Orb counts for you to get S Rank.

Arachnophobia
Survive an encounter with Phantom

This is a Story Related trophy and CANNOT be missed.

You will get this trophy for completing the boss fight in Mission 3. Once you have collected the Pride of the Lion this boss will summon. The boss summons as a Giant Lava Spider. He has a few different attacks to him. One attack is that he will shoot fireballs at you from his face. Simply run away from this attack but be careful because even if you jump this attack can still hit you. His second attack is him trying to swipe at you using one of his two large front arms. Simply jump backwards or roll in the direction opposite the one he is using to swipe you with. Another attack he uses is jumping in the air and trying to land on top of you. You can dodge this attack but you have to start attempting to dodge it as soon as he starts jumping up. Keep rolling to the side until he has landed. The third move is pretty powerful. He will summon vortex's of lava that spew from the ground up. To dodge these simply run around until the plumes stop.

For this boss fight I recommend you using your Shotgun and your Allastor. I also recommend purchasing the ability "Stinger - Level 1" as this is a good means of a quick attack inwards which you can follow up with a back jump to get out of his way. You are going to want to wait for an opening (when he isn't attacking) and attack with your stinger using + . Do yourself a bit of damage to the giant spider and trigger your Devil Mode Trigger by hitting . While in Devil Mode strike with Stinger a few times jump back. Repeat this process and throw in a few shotgun shots when you don't have a clear opening and you will have exterminated this arachnid in no time at all. Once you complete Mission 3 you will receive this trophy.

You're No Angel
Survive an encounter with Nelo Angelo

This is a Story Related trophy and CANNOT be missed.

You will have your first encounter with Nelo Angelo at the end of Mission #4. Once you get to the bedroom at the end of the level and take the Amulet from the mannequin head Nelo will come out from the mirror.

Nelo doesn't seem to have a large variety of attacks during this fight. He will try to slash you with his sword and shoot a blue ball of energy at you. Both of which you can easily read and dodge without too much difficulty. To beat him though you are going to want to use Devil Trigger for the whole match. This will take him out fairly quickly and safely. Make sure before heading into the fight that you have full Devil Trigger. Once you are ready head in. This fight will take place in three spots. The first spot is down on the floor. Activate your Devil Trigger and start hacking away at Nelo with Alastor. Once he moves up to section two simply stand under the platform he is on and taunt him using to fill your Devil Trigger again. Once it is full, head back up and use it all on him again. This will make him move to the third spot but here you can't taunt yet. Instead head up to where he is and then hop down the way you came up once he starts to fight so that you can have the time to taunt again.Nelo will not follow you back down here.

Nelo is a boss who fights more defensively here. He will not get hit with your guns no matter how much you shoot at him but he will block it all so use your guns when you want to close the gap between you and him without having to worry about him attacking as much. He will also keep blocking attacks even with your sword but using Devil Trigger you should be able to break into a combo then have him block then again into a combo and so on until his health is depleted.

Once you finish the mission after defeating Nelo you will be awarded with this trophy.

* NOTE - For your encounter with this boss on Dante Must Die difficulty please see the Tips & Strategies section at the top of this guide.

Squashed Like A Bug
Defeat Phantom

This is a Story Related trophy and CANNOT be missed.

This is going to be your fourth fight against Shadow. Second fight in a somewhat open area where he has a full Boss Fight's Health Gauge. This fight is much similar to the first fight but if you used the pillars to block some of his attacks there you better have gotten better at dodging because this area is completely open. The Phantom's moves haven't really changed at all since the first time you encountered him but this round he will be a bit more aggressive and will only take damage if dealt to his face. By the time this fight arises you should have already bought yourself a few Blue Orbs and Purple Orbs from the store and if you have then this will be a cakewalk.

once the fight starts you can either deal with him by dodging attacks and striking when the opportunity presents itself or you can go in for the kill right away. Throw yourself into Devil Trigger State and start using the Stinger on his face to eat away the vast majority of his health. by the time you run out of Devil Trigger he should be under halfway. If you think you have enough health to wing it and continue using the Stinger to devastate his life, then go for it. If you think it might be a better idea to wait it out you have two options. Again, you can wait for the opportunity to arise and attack while dodging his attacks or you can taunt him enough to build up another Devil Trigger and take him out the way you brought him down as low as you did.

Bird of Prey
Survive an encounter with Griffon

This is a Story Related trophy and CANNOT be missed.

You will fight Griffon near the end of Mission 9. Once you collect Ifrit and take care of the enemies below head back out into he courtyard where Griffon will be awaiting you. Griffon has a few different attacks. He will shoot lasers at you in vertical lines which can be jumped over or are just too high to hit you anyways. He will also shoot a ball which will jet out lasers in a 90 degree angle to encompass you and try to squeeze you between the lasers, these can be easily jumped over as well. Griffon will also send out these circular portal looking things that hover around the stage anywhere from 1 to 5 high. These will zap you if get too close to them so stay your distance from these as well. Finally he will charge you and attempt to attack you without any weaponry. You can jump or double jump up and out of the way of this attack. e will also fly above you dropping these balls of energy down to the ground. Simply jump out of the way of these energy balls to avoid this attack.

To defeat him you can use any means or methods that are right for you. I suggest keeping your distance and just taking him out using your Grenadegun. Simply dodge his attacks as they are all rather predictable. This method may take a bit of time since the grenadegun does a lot of damage but he is a boss. Feel free to use your Devil Trigger at any time during the fight you want to do a little extra damage to Griffon. Once he is defeated, all that is left is finishing the mission to receive this trophy.

Broken Halo
Fight Nelo Angelo a second time and prevail

This is a Story Related trophy and CANNOT be missed.

The second round against Nelo takes place in Mission 11. Once you take the Chalice he will appear. his moves are basically all the same only this time he is much more defensive and teleports whenever you try to shoot at him.

The method for defeating this one remains the same, hand to hand combat. Start off the fight using your Devil Trigger and attempt to go to town on him using your Alastor. This should bring him down to a bit less then half health. Now just attempt to use your Stinger attack on him which he will guard almost every time but it will build up your Devil Trigger meter while he is staying defensive. Once your Devil Trigger has enough, trigger it. Use the same method of hacking away at Nelo to finish him off for the second time. Once he is defeated continue the level til the end and you will receive this trophy at the Mission Successful screen.

* NOTE - For your encounter with this boss on Dante Must Die difficulty please see the Tips & Strategies section at the top of this guide.

Cold Turkey
Fight Griffon a second time and prevail

This is a Story Related trophy and CANNOT be missed.

You will get your second shot at Griffon in Mission 12 at the end. Trying to beat Griffon on the ship flat out sucks, let me get that out of the way. Griffon will send out a laser that will hook to you making you soar through the air when you jump if you are jumping while the laser is yanking upwards and vice-versa down towards the ground. He shoots his normal lasers at you which can be dodge and still goes in for normal attacks. Use the Grenadegun to shoot at Griffon until he lands at the back of the ship. Once he lands he is fair game for some melee however watch it though because he will float up a bit and drop the balls of energy all over the ground which can really hurt you. He won't stay on that platform long before he leaves again so make sure to take advantage of this while you can and use some Devil Trigger to make it go faster. This is also a good place to use your Air Raid attack as that will also do quite a bit of damage. After he has been vanquished for the second time, don't forget to drop down to the bottom of the Main Deck and collect your orbs from beating him before you head through the door and end the mission.

* NOTE - For your encounter with this boss on Dante Must Die difficulty please see the Tips & Strategies section at the top of this guide.

Plucked
Defeat Griffon

This is a Story Related trophy and CANNOT be missed.

You will get to fight Griffon for the final time at the end of Mission 15. Griffon in this fight will try to pull out all the stops and use his whole arsenal of tricks to take you out here. His newer moves include a wall of lasers which you can squeeze between the lasers and a move where he flies up in the sky and tries to drop down on top of you while lasers are sparking under his feet. You can dodge these both by simply moving out of the way, nothing special. Griffon will also start using his lasers and charging you more frequently in this fight so make sure you stay on guard here.

Although he is more aggressive the means to take him down remains the same. use your Grenadegun and fire at him when possible while dodging his attacks. You don't want to get all too close because of his risen aggression. You can attempt to use moves like Air Raid and Vortex however they don't really seem to have the same effect they used to on him. Keep going with an method you find right for you until he is at half health. The bridge above in the middle will break at the halfway point and bring the battle on the ground so if you were using the bridges as some sort of protection from attacks or a means to hit the Griffon easier then you are going to need to think of another strategy for the second part of the fight.

Once the Griffon has been defeated you will receive this trophy right away, no need to wait until the finish of the mission for this one.

Night Terrors
Survive an encounter with Nightmare

This is a Story Related trophy and CANNOT be missed.

You get your first stab at Nightmare in Mission 16. Nightmare is going to be in the same room you fought Phantom for the first time. Nightmare is a gelatinous blob looking enemy. He has a wide assortment of attacks at his disposal. He will attack you by sending out these smaller blobs that will wrap around you and freeze themselves, you can jump out of the way of these guys when they lunge at you. He also has the ability to shoot dagger like objects at you. You can roll or jump away to avoid these. He will shoot a staff like object at you over and over for a few times, this is also avoided with jumps and rolls. He also has the ability to send out these blobs that try to entrap you. You can dodge this blobs by jumping but if you get caught you will be brought down into a dreamland where you have to fight numerous enemies to get back out.

To start the fight against Nightmare, look at the puddle of what looks like oil on the floor in the middle of the room. Once he awakens, his weak point will be unreachable. To get it to show, go to any of the walls and activate the circles that react to Dante's Devil Powers. Once they are activated the weak point will show up near the rear of nightmare.Run up to the weak point and get as many hits as you can in because the weak point will disappear once the circles on the wall's lights all fade out. Keep activating these circles and avoiding his attacks while dealing as much damage as you can to his weak point and you shouldn't have much trouble beating him here. The trophy will pop once you finish this mission.

* NOTE - For your encounter with this boss on Dante Must Die difficulty please see the Tips & Strategies section at the top of this guide.

Fallen Angel
Defeat Nelo Angelo

This is a Story Related trophy and CANNOT be missed.

You will encounter Nelo Angelo for the final time at the end of Mission 17. Nelo is going to go wild this round. he will block almost anything you throw at him and he will throw magical daggers and such. He seems a bit quicker and teleports a lot to get out of combos.

The method in which to beat him remains the same. If you are using your Alastor he will block more then if you use Ifrit however it is up to you how you want to deal with this clown. use your Devil Trigger at the start of the fight and try to take as much health from him as you can. Once your Devil Trigger runs out simply stay on the offensive as much as you can even if he blocks every single hit so you can build that Devil Trigger back up. Once it has been built up again this should be enough to send him to the depths of hell in which you both came from. There isn't really much to the Nelo Angelo fights in this game as he uses some pretty predictable attacks that can be easily dodged.

* NOTE - For your encounter with this boss on Dante Must Die difficulty please see the Tips & Strategies section at the top of this guide.

Good Night
Fight Nightmare a second time and prevail

This is a Story Related trophy and CANNOT be missed.

You will get the honor of beating Nightmare again in the end of Mission 18. The only difference between him now and him before is that he has a new move where he can freeze you and then start sucking the life out of you. This time if you get sucked down into his dreamland you will be confronted by not only some Sargasso again but instead of Phantom there is a Phantom Griffon, which isn't too bad of a fight.

The method in which you are going to try defeating him remains the same. Use the circles on the walls to activate the electrical current that will reveal his weak point and attack it the best you can before he puts it back away once the lighting on the circles fades off. You will get this trophy after defeating this boss a second time and completing the Mission.

* NOTE - For your encounter with this boss on Dante Must Die difficulty please see the Tips & Strategies section at the top of this guide.

The Nightmare is Over
Defeat Nightmare

This is a Story Related trophy and CANNOT be missed.

Nightmare makes his final appearance in Mission 20. This time he is a bit more of a pain to deal with. There is only one circle in which Dante can use to expose the weak point and Nightmare tends to like attacking that one spot. Instead of Phantom or a phantom Griffon being in dreamland if you get swallowed up there will be Sargassos and once they are all defeated a Phantom Nelo Angelo will appear in all his glory.

Dealing with Nightmare is all the same in this round, activate the circle and attack the weak point when it appears. Once you get Nightmare into the red zone this time however Trish will step in and try attacking you. This will raise Nightmare's health a bit and she will continue trying to attack for the remainder of the battle. Nightmare will start using more new moves including one where he sets up a net around you, tries hitting you with some flying daggers and then body slam you which will cause you to freeze and then life to be drained from you. Once you knock down his health again he will eventually split. The cracked weak part will start hovering and he will let out an onslaught of attacks to try to stop you from attacking the orb. Use your Devil Trigger to ignore all the damage you are taking and focus on destroying the orb. Once the orb is destroyed, Nightmare is destroyed. Once you beat Nightmare a cutscene will begin. You will receive the trophy after completing the Mission.

The Devil Went Down To...
Defeat Mundus

This is a Story Related trophy and CANNOT be missed.

This Boss fight takes place in Mission 22. There are two parts to the boss fight and it seems as though Mundus will vary on whether he is going all out or takes a more docile approach.

For Part 1 of this boss fight you will be taking flight in Devil Trigger (with an unlimited gauge). You will have to shoot energy balls at Mundus using . While you are shooting you will slowly move in closer towards Mundus. He will release a few magical balls at the start of the fight that will protect him from your hits, they are the larger purplish colored ones. Destroy those before you will be able to do any damage to Mundus. On the way towards Mundus he will throw a combination of different attacks. One attack is he will send lines of lightning at you in which you must maneuver through to avoid damage. Another attack is he will summon fireballs that fall from on top of the screen. You will have to move all around the screen to avoid these. Another attack he will send out is throwing large chunks of meteor at you. You can either dodge these or shoot your way through these. One last attack he will send your way is rotating lightning beams. These need to be avoided much like the other lightning attacks. If you are really unlucky he will throw out more then one, sometimes all, of his attacks all at once for you to contend against. Once you get in close, continue shooting at him to deplete his health but be careful, the smaller white orbs floating around him will be trying to shoot you with little white spikes. He will also try shooting you with larger red spikes from his hands. One final attack he will use while you are in close is a beam generated from his eyes. This beam will try to target you but remain in a straight line so it is rather easily dodged unless you aren't moving around at all. Keep shooting at him until he folds his wings around his body. Stay out of his way as he is going to fly away from you but may knock into you in the process. Once he flies away you will have to close in on him again. No matter how fast you are at this process he will always fly away at least once. keep chipping away at Mundus' health until he is completely depleted and get ready for Round 2.

For part 2 of this fight Mundus will be sitting inside a big pit of lava. Mundus has some new and old tricks at his disposal for this fight. One move is an old one and that is that he will summon orbs to shoot those white daggers at you, These can be avoided by avid movement. A new trick is that he will smash any rocks you are standing on that are close to him sending you into the lava so make sure you try to stay on the main platform you began on, it is big enough to dodge all sorts of attacks as well as strike him down. Another new trick is he will summon a dragon made of lava to shoot fireballs at you. When the dragon made of lava appears you usually can't damage Mundus until you take care of this pain in the neck. Take him out and then focus back on Mundus. Mundus will also attempt to light the platform you are standing on on fire. he can't set the whole thing on fire s just move either left or right along the platform to avoid being hit. He will also summon fireballs to rain down from the skies on you, these can also be avoided by moving around and jumping. The best weapon for this fight is Devil Trigger. Activate your Devil Trigger and shoot fireballs like your life depends on it. Once your Devil Trigger is all used up, shoot at Mundus using your Grenadegun until it charges your Devil Trigger back up. Once filled again release your onslaught. keep repeating this process until he is finished.

After the fight a cutscene will play followed by the Mission Successful screen which is when your trophy will pop.

Thunderstruck
Perform an S Rank Combo using Alastor

You may or may not get this trophy through the natural progression of your game. For this trophy you are going to need to score a "Stylish" combo with Alastor set as your main weapon.

The ranking for the class of combos is as follows:
D = Dull
C = Cool
B = Bravo
A = Awesome
S = Stylish

The best means of getting an S-Ranked combo is to Stinger over and over again on large groups of enemies. As you see one dying try to target another one as fast as possible so your combo doesn't reset as it doesn't take long before it resets.

Another method is to uppercut the enemy over and over again and juggle them in the air using your Ebony and Ivory pistols, however you will still need to defeat more then one enemy as one enemy will not take enough hits to achieve a combo ranked as an S.

In the end it all really depends on how you fight in the game. It should take somewhere around 10-15 hits, sometimes more and sometimes less, depending on the style of the combo.

[top]
Hot As Hell
Perform an S Rank Combo using Ifrit

You may or may not get this trophy through the natural progression of your game. For this trophy you are going to need to score a "Stylish" combo with Ifrit set as your main weapon.

The ranking for the class of combos is as follows:
D = Dull
C = Cool
B = Bravo
A = Awesome
S = Stylish

For this trophy I recommend going into Mission 11 for. In Mission 11 you will start the fight against a Death creature so take it out as fast as possible. Next equip Ifrit if not already equipped and jump into the well. You will be met by a Blade. Take it out and go to the cracked part of the wall. Several Blades will come out of that area and surround you, so just combo the enemies using while targeting with .

If you are unable to achieve this here simply wait for a large number of enemies and attempt it there in whatever manner you feel fit best.

Collect 50,000 Red Orbs

For this trophy you simply have to collect 50,000 Red Orbs. Chances are, unless you score really high ranks throughout your first run you will not get this trophy on your Normal Mode run through. However, do not worry because as long as you use the New Game + as the Red Orbs count will not reset upon starting the new game.

There is no need to grind this and you will get this trophy along the way to buying all Blue Orbs from the store and buying all of Dante's skills.

For this trophy you are going to have to collect all 44 Blue Fragment pieces, collect both Blue Orbs, and purchase the 7 available Blue Orbs from the store using your Red Orbs. Once you collect all Fragments and Orbs and purchase all Orbs you will receive this trophy. You may not have enough Red Orbs during your first playthrough to buy all Blue Orbs and buy all of Dante's abilities but this can be done over the course of your 3 playthroughs.

Here is a description of where to find each of the Blue Orbs and Fragments and in what mission you have the ability to collect them in. They can all be obtained in your first playthrough and may not necessarily need the moves mentioned in the description of how to get them, however, having those moves indeed makes it easier.

Mission 1 - 5 Fragments:

Fragment 1 - This is BEFORE the Mission 1 Start Screen. Before heading inside the castle. Wall jump up to the little ledge above the stairs leading to the caste and go into the little room on the left side of the screen. The Fragment will fall to you.

Fragment 2 - After going through the door that cost 45 Red Orbs to open it is hidden in a statue to your right.

Fragment 3 - In the room where you pick up the first rusty key, take care of the Marionettes that awaken to attack you. Jump down and take care of the lone Marionette. After dealing with him, instead of going down the spiral staircase head into the door. There will be a stand in the back of the room where when accessed will say "There are three openings to insert something.", jump into the pool on the left hand side of that walkway while facing this stand.

Fragment 4 - In the room you used Rusty Key on there is an Airplane in the center of the room. Double jump up onto the wings of the airplane to find this fragment.

Fragment 5 - You will need the Alastor Ability "Air Hike" for this one. In the Main Room with the knight riding a horse statue, go to the broken side of the stair set leading up. Double jump to the platform where the broken staircase would be and collect your Fragment. You can also get this one with a standard wall jump.

Mission 2 - 1 Fragment:

Fragment 1 - From the beginning of the level head to the door directly across on the left side of Dante. Inside there will be a Power Up statue and a desk right next to it. Destroy this desk for the blue orb fragment.

Mission 3 - 3 Fragments:

Fragment 1 - When you get to the part of this mission where you have to head down into the broken bridge and fight 6 Sargasso, defeat them. Once they are defeated and you head back to the upper level, jump about two or three platforms back towards the Lionhead statue you encountered before and jump back in the water. Once inside defeat the six Sagasso again and head back up. This will bring you to the platform with the Lionhead statue. head to the blue fragment floating above the portal and collect it.

Fragment 2 - You will need the Alastor Ability "Air Hike" as well as "Air Raid" for this one. Enter the bridge from the boss room and wall jump up the door to the alcove of the door. You will see a platform hanging in mid-air. Double Jump and Air Raid to this platform. Once you land on it the Fragment will come falling down to you.

Fragment 3 - Secret Mission #1

Mission 4 - 3 Fragments:

Fragment 1 - Secret Mission #2

Fragment 2 - Secret Mission #3

Fragment 3 - Secret Mission #4

Mission 5 - 1 Fragment:

Fragment 1 - After taking out the Shadow that appears at the beginning of this level, head up the broken castle to the part where you fought Nelo Angelo in the final round. You will need to head in the direction of the door but instead of dropping down in the hole you will have to double jump up to the castle pillar. Once on top of the castle pillar a load of Red Orbs will come falling down to you. Next use Air Raid to fly over to the Blue Fragment located in the tower room to the right side of the pillar.

Mission 6 - 1 Fragment:

Fragment 1 - As soon as Mission 6 begins you are standing outside the door you came in from completing Mission 5. You will be looking down a hallway towards a dead end. Run to the dead end and there will be a little alcove there that looks like a passageway. Take a walk into the alcove as if it really were a passageway and not just rubble and the Fragment will come floating down at you. You may need to get the rusty key prior to grabbing this one.

Mission 7 - 1 Fragment:

Fragment 1 - Secret Mission #5.

Mission 8 - 2 Fragments:

Fragment 1 - After the boss fight against Phantom for the final time right at the beginning of the level, head to the door that slammed in your face to initiate the boss fight. Now use your Alastor to use the move Stinger to jump farther then you normally would to reach this fragment. If you for some reason miss, you can go to the left of the platform it is sitting on behind the Trident and double jump up there so long as you have the Air Hike ability. One last method is to jump up to the ledge from on top of one of the horse statues heads although it can be a rather pain to get on top of them sometimes.

Fragment 2 - Once you use the Trident a gate down below will rise. However, as soon as it is starting to rise it is starting to lower slowly. Run downstairs and get to the opposite side of the gate before it closes. DO NOT go through the door or it will end the Mission. Instead hop over the rail on the right side of the door into a pool of water and this fragment.

Mission 9 - 1 Fragment:

Fragment 1 - Once you get to the big open courtyard after heading down the spiral steps and going out the door you will encounter enemies called Blades for the first time. They are velociraptor looking enemies wearing guard masks. take them out and once you finish with them while facing the door in which you came out of, head to the right and up in the corner will be a little hill that goes behind the wall. Follow that to a gravestone which you can knock back using your sword which will uncover this fragment.

Mission 10 - 0 Fragments

Mission 11 - 3 Fragments:

Fragment 1 - Secret Mission #6

Fragment 2 - While looking at the door that leads to Secret Mission #6, head to Dante's right and you will see the orb behind some glass. Jump up to the platform on the side of the glass wall nearest to the door. Climb all the way up and jump inside behind the glass and collect your fragment at the bottom.

Fragment 3 - Head down into the well. Take care of any enemies that may be waiting. Smash your way through the cracked wall to the left side of the Statue of Time. Defeat the enemies that come out of there as well. Once all of the Blades are defeated the orb will come to you.

Mission 12 - 1 Fragment:

Fragment 1 - Once on the ship, make your way to the very top. Once up top, turn and run towards the opposite end of the ship. Climb the last mast of sails all the way to the top to the crows nest. Face the rear of the ship (The way you were running to get to this mast) and use your stinger off of it. You will land near the bow of the ship and the fragment will come to you.

Mission 13 - 1 Fragment:

Fragment 1 - Located in the room right below the Captains room. Head out of the captains room and take care of the two enemy Blades. Once they are defeated you can go down into the area next to where you picked up the Needlegun in the previous mission. Once inside there will be a blade trying to defend the fragment. Either take him out or just go grab the fragment and leave the area.

Mission 14 - 4 Fragments:

Fragment 1 - Secret Mission #7 (This is before the actual start of Mission 14)

Fragment 2 - At the beginning of the mission jump out of the pool of water and head to the right side of the screen where there will be another pool of water. The Fragment is in this pool. (This is before the actual start of Mission 14)

Fragment 3 - As soon as you use the skeleton's arm as a lever it will activate booby traps and give access to an elevator. Make your way to the elevator and take it up. Once at the top walk off the elevator and notice that there is a ledge on the right hand side. Double jump up onto this ledge to obtain this fragment.

Fragment 4 - Once you come out of the door that is the multi-leveled side of the mountain (The room right after the one with the last blue fragment and Statue of Time). Defeat the enemies and head back to the door. From that door use Air Raid to head to the left side of the screen where there is a cave opening with a bridge tied to the ledge. Run across the bridge where you will find a Red Orbs Statue. Look down off the edge of the cliff to the right side of the bridge where you will see a platform with the blue fragment on it. Jump down to collect it.

Mission 15 - 4 Fragments:

Fragment 1 - Secret Mission #8

Fragment 2 - Go into the room with the Blue Shield on the door, grab yourself the Luminite upstairs and head downstairs. Take out the enemies taht await you there. Once completed go to the wall opposite the blue door and smash your way through until you get to the dead end that contains an assortment of goodies, including this Blue Fragment.

Fragment 3 - Go into the room with the Red Shield on the door. Head downstairs into the trap room and activate the two things on the wall that reat to your demon powers dropping two platforms so you can reach the next item. Hop across to the second platform you lower but instead of jumping to the platform holding the item, hop down to the path below. Take out the two Blades down there and hop up as if you were try to hop on the platform holding the object until you can see that the Blue Fragment has fallen down onto that platform. Go back up and grab it along with the item on the platform. DO NOT GRAB THE OBJECT BEFORE MAKING THE BLUE FRAGMENT APPEAR OR IT WILL BECOME UNOBTAINABLE UNTIL YOUR NEXT PLAYTHROUGH.

Fragment 4 - Collect this fragment before or during the fight against Griffon as it will be unobtainable until next playthrough if you wait until after the fight. Go into the coliseum and take one of the doors on either side of the room to head up to the top. Once up top, head up the stairs located behind you and follow the path that brings you from one end of the coliseum to the other by cutting through the middle. In the center of this is a glass plate. Stand on the glass plate and wait for the Blue Fragment to fall down to you.

If you are going to try grabbing this one during the fight make sure you do it before you damage Griffon enough to break the upper walkways and the elevators become useless.

Mission 16 - 6 Fragments + 1 Free Blue Orb

Free Orb - As soon as you start the level on your way back towards the elevator that brought you down from the coliseum it will be in plain sight.

Fragment 1 - Secret Mission #9

Fragment 2 - Once you get back into the Great Hall (The first room you entered in the game with the statue of the horse), look under the non-broken side of the staircase. It is the right hand side, it will be just sitting there waiting for you.

Fragment 3 - For this orb you can either climb up onto the head of the horse statue to the orb or you can climb on top of the Statue of Time, shelf and stinger off towards the screen.

Fragment 4 - In the giant hallway where Phantom chased you down in Mission 4 jump up underneath the statue's head hanging above the painting on the wall on the end of the hallway closest to where you enter (Near the door leading to where the Statue of Time is). The orb wil come floating down to you.

Fragment 5 - Secret Mission #10

Fragment 6 - When you use the Staff of Hermes after crossing the broken bridge near the end of the Mission two portals will open up. The left portal contains the end of the level while the portal on the right is the bedroom where you first met Nelo. Hop through the portal on the right and collect the Blue Fragment sitting next to the bed.

Mission 17 - 2 Fragments:

Fragment 1 - Secret Mission #11

Fragment 2 - Inside the room with the giant dinosaur skeleton that shoots out blasts of magic. destroy the skeleton and jump up onto the bookcases to the right while in the narrow hallway by the mirror reflecting the light. On the bookshelves there will be an area that is an open balcony. Head onto the balcony and the Blue Fragment will come to you.

Mission 18 - 3 Fragments:

Fragment 1 - Once you get underwater, head through the broken gate into the second room of this part. Now head out through the other broken gate into a hallway. Don't go straight, instead make a left hand turn and make a left into the first room on the left. Shoot the lone barrel in the right hand rear corner of the room and the Blue Fragment will fly towards you.

Fragment 2 - Once outside the water for the first time you will be in a spiral staircase room. head up the stairs until you can't go any higher and stand next to the railing at in the middle of the stairs and press without any direction to have Dante hop the railing onto a platform where the Blue Fragment will appear.

Fragment 3 - Once you head through the green door into the courtyard, Stinger your way towards the left onto the walkway. Go through the door and follow the hallway to its end to pick up this Blue Fragment.

Mission 19 - 2 Fragments:

Fragment 1 - Once you go through the mirror and head outside, jump up to the walkway above through a hole above you. You will see the blue orb floating off the side of a pillar. Double jump up to the platform using Air Hike and position yourself right near it and use to nudge down to collect this orb.

Fragment 2 - This orb will only appear once you have collected the previous orb. Jump back up to the same pillar you grabbed the last orb from and Air Raid over to the little tower to the left of the pillar for your final Blue Fragment.

Gun Collector
Collect all Guns

There are a total of 5 guns in the game, one of which is the pair of hand guns "Ebony & Ivory" that you start the game with. The other four are just laying on the ground throughout the game. Simply collect the other four guns to obtain this trophy. They aren't really hard to find but I will note the first place you come across them.

Shotgun - Located in Mission 2. This gun can be found in the same room as the Rusty Key. It is located on the opposite side of the balcony. Destroy the table and pick up the gun using .

Grenadegun - Located in Mission 8. This gun can be obtained after taking out the Phantom in the beginning of the mission. Once the boss fight is over, head down to where the Trident is and pick it up. Now head down the trap door between the two statues to a machine in the middle of the room. Access the machine at the white glowing part and a trap door will open up in front of the machine. The gun is carried by a skeleton next to the trap door. Use while standing over the skeleton with the bright yellow object in his hand to pick up the gun.

Needlegun - Located in Mission 12. Head into the ship by diving into the water and going through the small hole in the corner. Once inside the bottom of the ship, head up and out of the water. Once in the bottom of the ship but out of the water head up the stairs but be careful as there will be two Blades waiting for you. Take care of them and search around on the floor near the stairs opposite the set you came up on the right. The gun appears on the floor as a bright yellow object, pick it up with

Nightmare- (Nightmare-Beta) - Located in Mission 15 for the first time. Head into the Blue Shield room and follow it down to the trap room. Get to the end of the trap room and pick up the "Pair of Lances". Next head through the door with the Red Shield and follow that one to the trap room below and follow it to the end. Instead of there being a "Pair of Lances" here there will be the Nightmare- gun.
* Note - it doesn't matter which of the shield doors you go into first, the first one you go into will always have the "Pair of Lances" and the second one will always have the Nightmare-.

The Devil Made Me Do It
Finish the game without using any Yellow Orbs

"Finish the game without using any yellow orbs" is a nice way of saying "Don't Die".

Yellow orbs are a means of continuing in the game. You will have two choices on how you want to obtain this trophy, either you can go through the entire 23 missions of the game without dying OR you can manipulate your saves since there is no auto-save function.

I highly recommend going for this trophy on your Normal run as it will require less restarting.

What you are going to do, is if you are in danger of dying, quickly press the button and save your game, this way you don't lose any progression as far as Fragment collecting and Red Orb gathering. Then try your hardest not to fall victim to your enemies, if you happen to die, let the yellow orb screen play out. ONCE THE YELLOW ORB SCREEN PLAYS OUT DO NOT SAVE AFTERWARDS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Instead, after the yellow orb screen finishes playing out and you regain control of Dante press again and hit "Reset". It will ask if you are sure you want to reset, simply hit yes. The game will bring you back to the title screen where you can load up your save file from before you died. The only bad part about this is it will make you basically start the whole mission over again from the beginning which can become quite a bother however is a necessity if you die.

As long as you reset your game and load up your last save when you die, you shouldn't have much if any trouble obtaining this trophy. If you completed all the missions without using a single yellow you will receive this trophy after the credits roll following the completion of Mission 23.

Untouchable
Clear a mission without taking damage

With the unpredictability of a new game it may be hard to try to achieve this on your first try through but I have two spots I recommend attempting this trophy.

Recommendation #1 - Mission 1

For Mission 1 clear with no damage you simply have to know where the enemies are going to be and take them out before they have a chance to hit you. The first enemies you will find are when you grab the rusty key. There will be two Marionettes after grabbing the key and then one more on the level below there. Once you use the rusty key and head down into the basement there will be 5 Marionettes. Take them out and the three doors will open, both containing a mixture of Bloody Maris and Marionettes, 2 from each door totaling 6 enemies. Take them out and head upstairs where you will find more of these types of enemies. They aren't powerful and aren't very active in the attacking field, however they do have the ability to throw their crescent blades and daggers so always stay on the move.

Recommendation #2 - Mission 5

Mission 5 is a joke. As long as you can deal with a Shadow without taking damage then this trophy is easily yours. For this mission you just have to beat the one lonely Shadow at the very beginning of the level, head up to the door that unlocks and jump down over the railing to the door that clears the level (But be careful of the Sin Scythe that will try to attack you once you get through the door from the bedroom into the stairwell, he can be easily avoided by just jumping right away.

Either of these or any other mission you choose to complete this trophy on the basic concept will remain the same. To keep trying the same mission over again simply manipulate your saves. Save before starting the level and load up your save each time you want to attempt the trophy. Leave the game by pressing select and going to "Reset" to reset the game back to the title screen without saving and simply load up your last save file. The trophy will pop once you get to the mission Clear screen.
