[top]Tips & Strategies
Buying items from the store:
Checking Trophy Progress:
- You can check the progress of some of the trophies in this game.by selecting 'Extras' from the Main Menu and going to 'Trophies'.
Respecing your Vergil:
- Once you spend an upgrade token on an ability or move you can remove it at a later time with no penalties to use that same upgrade token on another upgrade. This will give you the ability to shuffle around your skills until you have enough credits to upgrade everything.
DmC: Devil May Cry: Vergil's Downfall Unlockables:
- I recommend highly to spend every red orb you possibly can into upgrading Vergil's health as early as you possibly can then work on Devil Trigger next.
- Be very rational with what items you are buying. Everything goes up in price each time you buy one of that selected item. If you go buying Gold Orbs early in the game and wasting them they may get too expensive for you to buy when you really need them like in Dante Must Die mode.
- I recommend not buying ANY Gold Orbs, Vital Stars, or D.T. stars until Vergil Must Die playthrough so they remain the cheapest they can possibly be.
- Items bought from the store have a cap on how much they cost. Even though they may rise in price each time you buy one of that item they will eventually stop rising in price. All items have a 2,000 Red Orbs cap price which they will never exceed.

[top]Roadmap
Complete the game on Nephilim Difficulty.
- Go through the DLC for the first time and enjoy the story. Try to collect all of the collectibles, as unlike in the main game, all are able to be acquired during your first trip through the DLC. Learn the new enemies and the levels and just have fun.
Collect the remaining collectibles.
- If you have missed any of the collectibles for some reason you can either choose to use Mission Select to clean up the remaining collectibles or you can choose to do it on Son of Sparda Difficulty.
Complete the game on Son of Sparda Difficulty:
- This should be a straight run through to get used to the enemies new attacks and get a feel for how aggressive they are.
Complete the game on Vergil Must Die! Difficulty:
- This is the hardest the game gets without special stipulations. Use whatever means necessary to make it through to the end of this game mode. You should only be focusing on trying to get through so it isn't really that bad. Once through you will be rewarded with Super Vergil making the next two playthroughs that much easier.
Complete the game on Heaven or Hell Difficulty:
- This is an easy playthrough so long as you have already completed Vergil Must Die! Difficulty and have the ability to use Super Vergil. Blow through this difficulty as it shouldn't take but an hour or so to complete.
Complete the game on Hell and Hell Difficulty:
- Similar to Heaven or Hell difficulty you shouldn't have much trouble with this difficulty besides the fight with Hollow Vergil that may become a headache. Keep your head cool and focus on defenses or you can just use Devil Trigger and blow through this difficulty also.
Complete the game on Nephilim Difficulty obtaining SSS Rank on all missions:
- By now you should have a good feel for the game and shouldn't have any problems going for a SSS on all missions. It isn't necessary to leave this one for last by any means but most people do. Do not use Super Vergil and this feat shouldn't be too great with maxed out abilities.

We have an uninvited guest
Defeat a Wisp

Defeat a Wisp
You will encounter your first Wisp in Mission 1 and will appear at the very beginning of the second fight of the level. Wisps seem to be rather easy to contend with on Nephilim difficulty and shouldn't give you much trouble at all. Stay on the attack here and don't give the Wisp any chance to attack you back. Wisp have the ability to make themselves ghosts and unhitable with your sword but if you use a Summoned Sword (
) first it will make the Wisp vulnerable again. Hack away at the Wisp with Yamato until it enters Rage Mode. Once it is in this state keep the attacks up before they get a chance to attack and if they wind up for an attack be ready to evade the attack so you don't get hit. Once the Wisp is destroyed more enemies will appear along with another Wisp and you will receive your trophy.

Defeat an Imprisoner

Defeat an Imprisoner
This is a story related trophy and cannot be missed.
You will encounter the Imprisoner for the first time in the end of Mission 4. You will need to defeat the Imprisoner to save your mother. The imprisoner sucks. He has a variety of attacks and some can be rather difficult to dodge.
His attacks include:
Once the fight is over you will be rewarded with this trophy and the cutscene ending the mission.

His attacks include:
- Picking up large rocks and throwing them at you - These are best dodged at the last possible moment as his accuracy is better then Vergil's movement speed.
- Charging - The Imprisoner will charge you much like a Tyrant will only his timing is a bit different. These can be avoided by jumping and boosting over the Imprisoners head while he is charging.
- Swiping vines - The Imprisoner will swing his arm back and do an uppercutting motion which can hurt you in itself. The swing will also emit a set of vines that will travel towards you. Be careful of these vines as even though they are easy to dodge at first, they will remain on the field until you or the Imprisoner breaks through them and if it is you that breaks through them they will damage you.
- Burst vines - After getting knocked down and taking some damage the Imprisoner will get back up and explode into a fit of rage causing a burst of vines all around the Imprisoner, so make sure you aren't near the Imprisoner when he is getting ready to do this.
Once the fight is over you will be rewarded with this trophy and the cutscene ending the mission.

Our souls are at odds brother
Complete Vergil's downfall

Complete Vergil's downfall
This is a story related trophy and cannot be missed.
You get this trophy for completing the final mission of this DLC. The last mission is Mission 6. Mission 6 is a rather linear mission and follows the same route that Mission 1 essentially follows with a different set of enemies at different points. The level will change up slightly from Mission 11 but startsx and ends in the same spot. At the end of the mission is the only part of the mission you should even be worried about at all.
At the end of the mission, at the gate of paradise, you will be faced with waves of enemies with an imprisoner in the final wave. Your salvation will be that you acquired the ability to use your Devil Trigger (Doppelganger) properly earlier on in the level. It shouldn't take long or much effort to make your way through this mission to finish up the story..........for now.......
Once you complete Mission 6 on either Human, Devil Hunter or Nephilim difficulty you will unlock this trophy and Son of Sparda Difficulty.

Might controls everything
Gain a 100% completion rank on all missions in Vergil's downfall (difficulty doesn't matter)

Gain a 100% completion rank on all missions in Vergil's downfall (difficulty doesn't matter)
To obtain this trophy you will need to collect all of the Lost Souls, Health Cross Fragments and the Health Cross in the game. Along with that you must complete the level after collecting everything for it to count towards this trophy. All collectibles in this game are obtainable your first playthrough through the game so long as you buy the skill 'Enemy Step' before Mission 6. Here is a list of all of the collectibles in this DLC:
Health Cross Fragment #1 - As soon as you finish your very first fighting scene you will come to a big corridor from the original game where you will view a cutscene of Dante and Vergil fighting as kids in ghostly images. Once you regain control of Vergil head all the way down the hall to where the ghostly Dante and Vergil are fighting. You are supposed to continue down the right side of the hallway but instead look behind the rubble ahead of you on the left to find this fragment.
Health Cross Fragment #2 - Once you use the teleport feature for the first time to bring a piece of building close to you, you will have to use it to cross to a smaller island floating in the air. Once on the island turn around and face the building you just came from. Look to your left a bit and you will see another platform floating in the air. Jump and dash to this platform and you will see the fragment floating on a platform just ahead of you. You will need to jump and dash twice to get this one.
Lost Soul #2 - Once you get to the part where you learn how to teleport TO an ledge, teleport up and stop. Now turn around and look below you to the right. There is another piece of ground below. Jump and dash over to that platform and follow it to its end where you will see a Lost Soul hanging on the wall to the right.
Health Cross Fragment #3 - Once you head inside the building after learning how to teleport up to ledges you will be in a hallway and midway through the hallway the floor will be broken. Jump across the gap and look at the wall to your right. There will be a bunch of boards there attempting to hide this fragment behind them.
Lost Soul #3 - After defeating your very first Wisp a path will unlock leading down a hall to a Divinity Statue. Before getting to the Divinity Statue look to your left to find a cubby housing this Lost Soul on the wall straight ahead of you when you enter it.
Health Cross Fragment #4 - Once you learn how to teleport an enemy to you and then how to teleport TO an enemy you will have to use your Demon Pull to teleport a walkway so you can cross the large gap. Cross the large gap and head into the floating hallway. At the end of the hallway you will need to do a small jump onto another platform. Once on this platform stop and notice the piece of wall ahead of you. Next to the solid part of the wall will be what looks like a place for a window. Head to that piece of wall and jump through the window opening. Use your camera angles to judge your jump through the window area and you will be on a piece of ledge that has a fragment behind the solid piece of wall.
Lost Soul #4 - This one is a little tricky. Follow the broken path after learning how to Demon Pull and enemy to you and yourself to an enemy. Once you get to the end you will have to Demon Pull yourself twice to reach the ledge ahead. As soon as you land on the platform ahead stop and turn around. Now VERY SLOWLY walk off the edge and you will land on a ledge below. Turn around and you will see the Lost Soul in the right hand corner of this area.
) and then Angel Boost onto the ledge ahead. Once on the ledge turn around and you will see the fragment on a little piece of flooring. You are going to need to jump, Teleport Up and then Angel Boost to this fragment.
Health Cross Fragment #6 - Once you reach the first Divinity Statue take the path to your right. Follow the path until you reach a large landing. Once on the large platform look towards the rear of the area from where you came. There will be a stone archway on the right and a little platform raised up from the platform you are standing on. Head to the platform that is raised and jump up onto a secret little area containing this fragment.
Health Cross Fragment #7 - Once you reach the first Divinity Statue take the path to your left. Continue down that path until you get to a large landing platform and the only way to go forward is to use an Angel Boost Pad. Turn around and face the direction you came from and walk to the ledge. You will notice a hallway to your right while staring at the last platform you jumped from to get on the large platform. If you look farther to the right you will see this fragment just outside the hallway on a narrow ledge. Angel Boost over to the little ledge and collect your fragment.
Lost Soul #5 - Once you reach the first Divinity Statue take the path to your left. Continue down that path until you get to a large landing platform and the only way to go forward is to use an Angel Boost Pad. Head to the far right corner where you will see a set of stairs. Go down the stairs and at the bottom you will see the Lost Soul on the side of the staircase.
Lost Soul #6 - Once you reach the first Divinity Statue take the path to your left. Continue down that path until you get to a large landing platform and the only way to go forward is to use an Angel Boost Pad. Use the Angel Boost Pad to get you to the next platform. Go under the stone archway on this path and turn around once you have gone under the arch. Jump and then Teleport up to access an Angel Lift point. Angel Lift up and you will see this soul on the wall to your right.
Lost Soul #7 - Once you reach the first Divinity Statue take the path to your left. Continue down that path until you get to a large landing platform and the only way to go forward is to use an Angel Boost Pad. Use the Angel Boost Pad to get you to the next platform. Head to the end of the platform and use the set of Angel Boost Pads to reach the next platform. Once you land you will be in front of another stone archway. turn to your left and there will be a small extension to the platform which houses this soul on the left.
Health Cross #1 - Once you defeat a wave of Shielded Bathos and Wisps you will have to go through a teleportation portal. On the other side you will be staring out at a bunch of platforms and projectiles will be flying in from the sky to ill you. Angel Lift and boost your way to the first platform ahead and get on the platform to your right. Once you land on that platform, instead of heading left to the platform you should be going to head to the platform straight ahead of you, that platform houses the Health Cross.
Health Cross Fragment #8 - Keep heading into the level until you pass under an arch and come onto a big open platform with another arch ahead of you. Head to the right of the open area to find another archway. There is a platform you can jump and Angel Boost to then another platform you can jump onto from there. This platform will hold this fragment.
Lost Soul #9 - Continue to the point where you have to shoot a train car to make it solid. jump over to the train car and then to the solid train car just past it. At the end of the train car stop and face to your right. In the distance you will see a platform. You need to jump, Angel Boost and then dash forward to this platform. Once on the platform jump up onto the next platform and follow the wall on the left to find a soul hanging on the wall.
Health Cross Fragment #9 - Once you learn Devil Trigger and defeat the wave of enemies head forward down the hallway and you will come to an area with hidden train cars. use your Summoned Swords to reveal the train car and hop on it. Use your Summoned Swords to reveal the next car and hop on. Look to your left and there will be a Demon Pull grapple. Pull out the ledge and hop up on top of it. You will notice you can continue to climb up the wall. Climb up and you will see a hallway to your right which houses this fragment.
Health Cross Fragment #10 - Once you view the cutscene of you fighting Dante in a hallway with a steel set of bars you will regain control of Vergil. Down the hallway is a Divinity Statue but that isn't the direction you want to go. Instead turn around and head through the hole in the wall you entered through. Go to the ledge and face the area you came from with the Angel Boost Pads and look to your left. There is a platform ahead, hop up and grab the fragment up ahead.
Lost Soul #10 - Once you view the cutscene of you fighting Dante in a hallway with a steel set of bars you will regain control of Vergil. Down the hallway is a Divinity Statue, start heading towards it. Halfway down the hall on the right will be an open caged area. Head into the caged area to see the soul on the wall to the right.
Lost Soul #11 - Once you defeat the wave of Shielded Pathos, Stygian and Wisps you will have to head to the left and into a hallway. Go down the hallway until you get to a break in the enclosure. Jump across to the other side and turn around and face the way you came. While facing the way you came you will see a platform just to the right of the hallway ahead. Jump to this little platform and destroy the soul on the wall to the left.
Health Cross Fragment #11 - While following Dante up the shrine where you have to constantly make parts of the path appear with your Summoned Swords you will come to a cutscene with Dante up the path a little bit trying to get Vergil to follow him up. Once you get control of Vergil again, instead of heading straight, stop and look to your left towards the way you came from. Hop on the platform to your left and then to the platform just past that. Look to the bottom right hand side of the screen and you will see a fragment on a ledge below. Jump and Angel Boost and continue holding the boost button all the way down to this fragment.
Lost Soul #12 - Continue the beginning of the mission until you come to the first teleportation portal stone at the top of a staircase. Don't go through the portal yet but instead look to your right. There is a piece of path that juts out just past the stairs. Get on this piece and boost over to the ledge to the right where you will see the Lost Soul hanging in front of you.
Health Cross Fragment #13 - Just past the level's first Divinity Statue will be a hallway. Once you enter the hallway there will be a little cutscene showing Vergil getting blocked into the hallway. Once you are inside the hallway and regain control of Vergil immediately turn right to see a bunch of boards blocking a secret area. Once through head inside and collect this fragment.
Lost Soul #13 - After defeating the wave of enemies that ends in a fight against a Tyrant you will be able to proceed through a small doorway looking hole in a stone wall. Head through and stop. Look high and to your left to see an Angel Lift point. Angel Lift your way up and turn to your right while looking slightly lower then the height you are at. You will see another ledge containing this soul. Jump and boost + dash over to the ledge containing this soul.
Health Cross Fragment #14 - After defeating the wave of enemies that ends in a fight against a Tyrant you will be able to proceed through a small doorway looking hole in a stone wall. Head through and go forward to the portal ahead. Head through the portal and go forward until you get to the ledge with an invisible ledge ahead. Once you get to this point, turn to your right and you will see a ledge in the distance. Jump, boost and dash to the ledge. Once on the ledge make your way up around the ledges until you get to the third ledge which houses this fragment.
Lost Soul #14 - Once you defeat the wave of Shielded Bathos, Stygians and Wisps head through the teleportation portal. Once through the portal head behind the portal and you will see a hidden ledge. Hop up onto the ledge and you will see this soul hanging on the wall to the right.
Lost Soul #15 - Once you get to the part with the broken bridge and the invisible ledge just off of the right of the bridge, shoot the ledge and hop on it and Angel Lift yourself up to the ledge with the teleportation portal. Head through the portal. Once on the other side head onto the bridge and about halfway jump on the railing on the right side. Look to the right of the bridge and you will see a ledge in the distance. Jump and Angel Boost followed by a dash to get to this ledge (This may take a few tries). Once on the ledge you will see the soul hanging in the back against the cliff.
Health Cross Fragement #15 - Once you get to the part with the broken bridge and the invisible ledge just off of the right of the bridge, shoot the ledge and hop on it and Angel Lift yourself up to the ledge with the teleportation portal. Head through the portal and over the bridge ahead. Head up the two small flights of stairs which leads to a landing platform with a Divinity Statue on it. If you look to the right of the Divinity Statue you will see a little drop off which has a fragment on it.
Health Cross Fragment #16 - Once you cross the two invisible platforms to reach a landing with a staircase heading towards the inside of the building you saw Vergil and Dante's ghostly images fighting in Mission 1. Head up the stairs but don't head inside. Instead head down the stairs on the opposite side of the ones you ran up but do it carefully as there is only three stairs and not too much of a landing. You will see the fragment sitting there on a platform.
Lost Soul #17 - Once you cross the two invisible platforms to reach a landing with a staircase heading towards the inside of the building you saw Vergil and Dante's ghostly images fighting in Mission 1. Head up the stairs but don't head inside. The soul is hanging on the right side of the arch of the doorway. Stand near the top of the broken staircase to the right and jump and then teleport up and you will be at the right height to get a few slashes in on the soul. Jump and teleport up a few times to hit the soul enough times to destroy the soul.
Lost Soul #18 - Head into the hallway that Dante and Vergil's ghostly images were fighting in in Mission 1. Head down the hallway until you see a large object come crashing through the floor. Jump over the newly created hole in the floor and stop on the other side. Turn around and look to your right to see a cubby. Jump over the hole and into the cubby and the Lost Soul will be hanging on the wall to the left high in the air while looking into the cubby with you back to the hole in the ground.
Lost Soul #19 - This is by far the hardest soul to obtain and will take quite a few tries and will require the skill 'Enemy Step' to obtain. When you exit the hallway into the large area after the Divinity Statue you will be facing a Rage. The door behind you will shut so deal with the Rage as fast as possible. Once the Rage has been defeated you will be confronted by Stygians and a Ravager. Defeat the Ravager so he doesn't get in your way but let the Stygians stay as you will need them. Jump, use Demon Pull, Enemy Step, Jump, Demon Pull, Enemy Step and jump to make your way up in front of the door to reach the soul hanging above the arch of the door you entered this area from. This one is a pain but isn't impossible to get. Get as high as you can and attack until you fall then repeat the process until the soul is destroyed.
Health Cross Fragment #17 - Head into the open area after the Divinity Statue where you fight a Rage. Defeat the Rage and all of the waves of enemies that follow. Once they are defeated the path ahead will open up opposite from the door you entered the area from. If you are standing in front of the door with the door to your right and the newly opened path to the left you will see a part of the building that has a giant crack up the side of it. Run towards the empty area just to the left of this wall. Stay close to the wall and Angel Boost outwards. At the extent of the boost evade to the right to land inside the hidden room on the other side of the cracked wall. The fragment is in this secret room in the middle of it.
Health Cross Fragment #18 - Head into the open area after the Divinity Statue where you fight a Rage. Defeat the Rage and all of the waves of enemies that follow. Once they are defeated the path ahead will open up opposite from the door you entered the area from. Use the Angel Lift to pull yourself over to the new platform. Once on the new platform there will be a little drop off on the right side of the platform. The fragment is on the little drop off but be fast about grabbing it or the platform will fall and so will you.
Health Cross Fragment #19 - Head into the open area after the Divinity Statue where you fight a Rage. Defeat the Rage and all of the waves of enemies that follow. Once they are defeated the path ahead will open up opposite from the door you entered the area from. Use the Angel Lift to pull yourself over to the new platform and continue down this path until you get to another large platform where there will be a ton of enemies that spawn. As soon as you can, head towards the left rear corner of the platform from the spot you entered. You will have to do some more Demon Pull, Enemy Step and Jumping successions to get high enough to see the fragment on a ledge really high in the air. Once you have gotten high up enough Angel Boost over to the platform with the fragment on it.
Health Cross Fragment #20 - After defeating a large wave of enemies including Stygians, Witches and Wisps a path will open up for you to Demon Pull a large platform down. Pull it down and Angel boost over to it. Now Angel Lift yourself up to the floor above. Once you get up top do not head straight for the door. Instead head to your left behind a small wall to find the final fragment.
Lost Soul #20 - After defeating a large wave of enemies including Stygians, Witches and Wisps a path will open up for you to Demon Pull a large platform down. Pull it down and Angel boost over to it. Now Angel Lift yourself up to the floor above and head through the doorway straight ahead of you. Once through the doorway stop and head to the corner to your right. You will see the soul hanging on the wall to your right. Destroy this final soul and final collectible.
Mission 1: 4 Lost Souls + 4 Health Fragments
Lost Soul #1 - As soon as you finish your very first fighting scene you will come to a big corridor from the original game where you will view a cutscene of Dante and Vergil fighting as kids in ghostly images. Once you regain control of Vergil go down the hallway and look to your left and you will see a cubby. Head inside the cubby to see the Lost Soul hanging on the wall to your left.Health Cross Fragment #1 - As soon as you finish your very first fighting scene you will come to a big corridor from the original game where you will view a cutscene of Dante and Vergil fighting as kids in ghostly images.
Mission 2: 3 Lost Souls + 3 Health Fragments + 1 Health Cross

) and then Angel Boost onto the ledge ahead. Once on the ledge turn around and you will see the fragment on a little piece of flooring. You are going to need to jump, Teleport Up and then Angel Boost to this fragment.Health Cross Fragment #6 - Once you reach the first Divinity Statue take the path to your right.

Mission 3: 4 Lost Souls + 4 Health Cross Fragments
Lost Soul #8 - From the beginning of the level head to the platform ahead and the platform after that. You will notice you can either go left or right here but it doesn't matter which way you go. Head to the right side as it is shorter. Head up the small set of steps and stop on the platform and turn around. You will see an Angel Lift up on the arch you passed under while heading up the steps. Lift yourself up and the soul will be to your right.Health Cross Fragment #8 - Keep heading into the level until you pass under an arch and come onto a big open platform with another arch ahead of you.

Jump to this little platform and destroy the soul on the wall to the left.

Mission 4: 4 Lost Souls + 4 Health Cross Fragments

Once on the landing at the top jump to the platform ahead of you. You will see a platform to the left and an invisible platform to your right. Head to the platform on the left. Once there look straight ahead and Angel Pull yourself using the Angel Lift points. Follow them until it leads you on top of a ledge which houses this fragment.Lost Soul #12 - Continue the beginning of the mission until you come to the first teleportation portal stone at the top of a staircase.
If you look to the right of the Divinity Statue you will see a little drop off which has a fragment on it.
Mission 5: No collectibles.
Mission 6: 5 Lost Souls + 5 Health Crosses
Lost Soul #16 - Once you defeat the first wave of enemies at the beginning of the level, part of the building ahead will break out and allow you to move forward. Hop up to the part that broke out and onto the floating platform ahead. Once on the floating platform stop and turn around. Look to the right of the platform you jumped from and you will see a little area you can jump to which houses this soul.Mission 6: 5 Lost Souls + 5 Health Crosses

Complete all missions in Vergil's downfall on the Nephilim difficulty with a SSS rank

Complete all missions in Vergil's downfall on the Nephilim difficulty with a SSS rank
This is probably going to be the last trophy you go for.
All SSSs should be obtained during Nephilim difficulty only and not any other difficulty or they will not count towards this trophy.
How it works: Your ending score for your style during the mission is the base of your overall score. Depending on your time a level completion your score gets multiplied. If you earn 5000 points and earn a SSS in time and completion, time will multiply the 5,000 by 8 to become 40,000. Then the Completion will multiply 40,000 by 8 to 320,000 points for an end score so timing and item collection is imperative.
Using items during the mission or dying will cause you to lose 10% of your overall score per death or item used so try not to die and try not to use any items.
Using the SUPER Vergil costume will cut your end score in half so DO NOT use this costume.
You probably shouldn't attempt this until you have played through the game a few times to know the levels inside out to alleviate wasting time. In order to gain a SSS as an overall score you will need to perform good combos throughout the missions. The more points you score during the mission, the higher your scores will be. You do NOT need a SSS overall rank for each category to get a SSS overall score but the better you do the higher the score.
Here is how the end scores are determined:\
Style - The more different combos you perform in succession the higher your score will go. You want to aim for high combo rankings during the mission to build this score up as high as you can. Use a variety of weapons as well as a variety of techniques with each weapon. Scoring a SSS combo in a fight will award x8 points for each move you make so getting a high combo and trying to keep it is rather imperative. The higher you score here the higher the score will climb. Avoid getting hit as getting hit usually knocks your style meter down a couple of grades and will cause you to lose points for nothing. Try to avoid using the same move twice in a row or even twice in the same combo as those attacks will get their point values diminished.
Time - You will be judged on how well your completion time was in the level. Obviously the faster you complete the mission the higher the grade will be. Here is the table of how much each grade will multiply your Style points:

Complete Vergil's downfall on Son of Sparda difficulty

Complete Vergil's downfall on Son of Sparda difficulty
Before you can even attempt this trophy you must first play through the entirety of the game on Human, Devil Hunter or Nephilim Difficulty. This difficulty will unlock as a reward.
Completing the game on Son of Sparta shouldn't be too much of a pain for you. As long as you have completed the game on Nephilim the first time you really won't encounter much of a difference in difficulty.
The only differences between this difficulty and Nephilim is that you will be facing the harder to defeat demons that you encounter at the end of the game at the beginning instead. The amount of enemies in a wave will usually always increase on this difficulty and you will start running into a few Butchers.
The enemies in this difficulty will become faster and aggressive. If you are good at aerial combos I would recommend taking out enemies one by one with this. If you are having any trouble refer to This is the power of Sparda! for more tips.
Once you have completed all 6 missions on Son of Sparda Difficulty this trophy will unlock.

Complete Vergil's downfall on Vergil Must Die difficulty

Complete Vergil's downfall on Vergil Must Die difficulty
Before you can even attempt this trophy you must first complete all 20 Missions on Son of Sparda Difficulty and this difficulty will unlock as a reward.
Vergil Must Die is the hardest difficulty the DLC has to offer next to Hell and Hell Difficulty. The AI is very smart in this difficulty and ruthlessly aggressive. The enemies in this difficulty have a lot more health then they used to and deal twice as much damage to Vergil. Enemies can also enter Devil Trigger, you will know they are in Devil Trigger by the gold streamer looking energy flying around them. During Devil Trigger state an enemy can't be launched and cannot be Demon Pulled nor will they stumble when getting attacked so their attacks can still go unpunished if you are close enough and still attacking them.
Before starting this difficulty I highly recommend to have all upgrades and a full Devil Trigger Gauge and Health Gauge.
This is the first difficulty you are going to want to use Gold Orbs on, however, I don't recommend using them unless it is a boss fight or you have died several times in the same spot and are truly stuck. The game is rather lenient with checkpoints so if you die at the beginning of a checkpoint there is no reason to waste a gold orb. Save them for the Vergil fight if you can and the end of Mission 6. Each time you buy a new gold orb the price of the next one you buy will increase.
Here are some tips on completing Vergil Must Die! Difficulty:
Once you complete all 6 Missions on Vergil Must Die! Difficulty you will be rewarded with this trophy and the ability to use Super Vergil which grants infinite Devil Trigger.

Here are some tips on completing Vergil Must Die! Difficulty:
- Spiral Summoned Swords: Vergil's Spiral Summoned Swords are great for racking up some serious Style points but those matter not in this difficulty, instead it acts as a great defense and offense. It is best to summon these swords and Demon Pull numerous enemies to you including Wisps and witches. This will damage them quite a bit and once you have a few enemies near you hack at them and they should die before your Spiral Summoned Swords disappear.
- Aerial Combos: Aerial attacking is the best form of attacking in the game as enemies are defenseless until they hit the ground again. Keep attacking in the air and using Demon Pull or Angel Lift to keep yourself high in the air, close to the enemy being attacked and far away from all the other enemies attacking below.
- The environment: Use the environment to your advantage. If there is a cliff or ledge you can knock an enemy off of, attempt to do so as this will possibly save you from death. All but two or three fights in the whole DLC have a cliff nearby you can use to knock enemies off.
- Harpies: Harpies in this are more of a pain in the ass then in Dante's story. The Harpies can't have their wings shot off so it becomes more of a pain for them to be taken out as you can't knock them off cliffs and such. Keep drawing them to you and attacking but be careful because they can wind themselves up and create an explosion of wind that can knock you back and hurt you a fair deal.
- Witches: witches remain the same but less aggressive in the DLC. When they put their shield up the witches will only shoot a maximum of two swords at you. It is best to deflect one and dodge the other, then go in for your attack. When there is a witch present it is best to take them out first.
- Tyrants: Tyrants are much of the same as the original game only appear less frequently. There are only a couple points in the game where you will see more then one Tyrant at a time but remember the key strategy. A Tyrant won't attack if it isn't on the screen. Use your Demon Pull to yank these guys to the ground where you can deal serious damage.
- Butchers: Butchers are still a pain in this DLC but seem to go down a bit quicker. They act the same as in the original game and go down just the same. Focus on their weak point and attack with Spiral Summoned Swords out to deal extra damage.
- Wisps: Wisps are really weak to a Spiral Summoned Swords + Demon Pull combo with a few hacks from Yamato. Keep an eye on them and get out of their way if they are about to attack. You shouldn't really have any trouble taking these guys down.
- Imprisoners: Imprisoners suck but once you get to this difficulty you should already know how to take these guys down fast, especially with Devil Trigger. For more tips on Imprisoners check the You don't belong here.

Once you complete all 6 Missions on Vergil Must Die! Difficulty you will be rewarded with this trophy and the ability to use Super Vergil which grants infinite Devil Trigger.

Complete Vergil's downfall on Heaven or Hell difficulty

Complete Vergil's downfall on Heaven or Hell difficulty
Before you can even attempt this trophy you must first complete Son of Sparda Difficulty and I recommend having already beaten Vergil Must Die! Difficulty as Super Vergil will make this entire playthrough a giant joke and take a matter of a few hours to complete.
Heaven or Hell difficulty works as follows:
Once you complete all 6 Missions on Heaven or Hell Difficulty you will receive this trophy.
Heaven or Hell difficulty works as follows:
- Every enemy in the game will die in just one hit.
- Vergil will die from one hit whether it be from an enemy or the environment.
- You get three Gold Orbs to use during each mission. When you run out of Gold Orbs you will have to start from the last checkpoint but you will get three more Gold Orbs.

Complete Vergil's downfall on Hell and Hell difficulty

Complete Vergil's downfall on Hell and Hell difficulty
Before you can even attempt this trophy you must first complete the game on Heaven or Hell Difficulty and this difficulty will unlock as a reward. I also recommend that you complete Vergil Must Die! Difficulty to attain the ability to use Super Vergil.
Hell and Hell difficulty works as follows:
This playthrough shouldn't take long or much effort if you are good at aerial combos and are using the Super Vergil perk.
You shouldn't have much difficulty on this difficulty if you have made it this far, however, Hollow Vergil in Mission 5 will be as hard as the Vergil Boss fight in Dante's playthrough. Hollow Vergil is extremely aggressive and doesn't let his guard up very long or often. I will do my best to offer tips on when to attack but it will be up to your skill and reaction to dodge Vergil's attacks. I will break it up into three parts to make it easier.
Part 1:
As soon as the boss fight starts make sure you get out of the way and activate Doppleganger as soon as you can because Hollow Vergil will try attacking fast. Use
or
to keep evading all of Hollow Vergil's attacks until he does a downward slash to the ground. This is your small window of opportunity to attack. Attack him with your Doppleganger and you should be able to deal a good chunk of damage to Hollow Vergil. Repeat this process while dodging his attacks to get him to go into the giant heart in the background.
Part 2:
As soon as you get Hollow Vergil down to about 1/2 health he will go into the heart in the background and start trying to attack with his Spiral Swords and a giant sword slamming attack you don't have. The only way to dodge the Summoned Swords that surround you is to wait until the swords stop spinning and back up to get ready to lunge towards you and evade. The swords slamming down are easy to spot and easy to avoid. Once you have evaded long enough Hollow Vergil will emerge again and start relentless combos. The best way to damage him is to keep evading until he uses his Aerial Flush. He will follow up this attack with Killer Bee which is a downwards kick from the air. Be careful as his is rather accurate and has a good length he can descend. Evade the kick and once he lands attack him and don't let up until he blocks you again. You should only need 1 or 2 assaults on him to activate Part 3 which occurs when Hollow Vergil hits 1/3 health.
Part 3:
This starts out the same way as Part 2 but the Summoned Swords will fire more quickly and instead of one sword slamming the ground from the air there will be 4 or 5. Evade these the same way you did in Part 2. After dodging enough Hollow Vergil will start to attack again. He will be using the same attacks as in Part 2 but he will be a bit faster so stay on your toes. Attack him at the same time you did in Part 2 until he is done. This should only take once unless you miss a few swings of the sword, in which case you will need to go berserk on him twice.
Once you defeat Hollow Vergil and the rest of the missions in this DLC on Hell and Hell Difficulty you will receive this trophy.
