[top]Tips and Strategies

  • For the love of God, SAVE. At every good opportunity. When you pick up health pickups, when you clear out a room, or whenever you are unsure you will prevail in the room ahead. However, do not save in a situation you can't get out of.
  • The Shotgun and Super Shotgun are the best normal weapons in the game, as the ammo is plentiful and on the difficulty you will be playing on, the Super Shotgun can destroy MOSTLY anything in 1-3 shots
  • Use the Shotgun's wide spread to kill multiple enemies. This is great for when enemies are swarming you, which will happen often.
  • DO NOT let yourself get surrounded, as the enemies will relentlessly attack you while you are confused. So never back yourself into a corner.
  • The Shotgun has huge range and this fact should be exploited at any/every opportunity.
  • While using the Rocket Launcher sounds like a good idea to kill a hard to hit enemy on a ledge above you, make sure to back up if you have something in front of you, or the rocket will damage you.
  • MANY levels in this package require you to run to pass over ledges, and in some cases will trap you in a situation that you can't get out of if you fail.
  • Do not feel nervous about using the BFG 9000 in close quarters, it does not hurt you inside the blast.
  • Not that you need to, but use enemies projectiles to hurt other enemies by using other enemies as meat shields.
  • While running might help you clear a level quicker, it can also hinder you. Move slowly as some buttons or doors can be missed by running too fast.

[top]Roadmap

  • There isn't much to be said here, as you can do these levels in any order you choose. However if you want to get the trophies out of the way without having to replay levels you've already beaten, start with Final DOOM: TNT Evilution as it has all the opportunities to go for the misc trophies.
  • Or if you are new to the series, I would suggest doing Ultimate DOOM first, than moving on to DOOM II: Hell On Earth and it's expansion, DOOM II: No Rest For The Living, as these can get you ready for Plutonia Experiment.

[top]Trophies

[top]
DOOMed to Die Young
Complete the Ultimate DOOM single player campaign on "I'm Too Young to Die!" or higher.

Ultimate Doom is simply the original Doom game with an added Episode entitled "Thy Flesh Consumed" along with the original Episodes "Knee-Deep In The Dead", "The Shores Of Hell" and "Inferno". If you played this on the Doom 3 BFG Edition, this is the same exact thing you did in that game. Except that you will be playing on "I'm Too Young To Die" which is Easy difficulty. All you have to do is complete all 4 Episodes in Ultimate Doom and this trophy will be yours.

[top]
DOOMed to Die Young Again
Complete the DOOM 2: Hell on Earth single player campaign on "I'm Too Young to Die!" or higher.

As with the last trophy, if you played Doom II on the Doom 3 BFG Edition, this is the same as last time. Doom II: Hell On Earth has 30 levels, and must be played on "I'm Too Young To Die" or Easy difficulty. Nothing fancy about this trophy.

[top]
Evilution Theory
Complete the Final DOOM: TNT Evilution single player campaign on "I'm Too Young to Die!" or higher.

Final DOOM: TNT Evilution is a new edition to the Doom games on Playstation. This was not included on the Doom 3 BFG Edition. It was originally a set of maps created by the modding community back in 1996, it was than commercially sold after making a deal with id Software. It's basically DOOM II only with new maps. All the weapons and enemies from DOOM II make an appearance, so just note what you're capable of. You only have to beat this on "I'm Too Young To Die" difficulty, which sounds like a walk in the park, right? Well, for a seasoned DOOM player, yes. But for newcomers it will be slightly frustrating. But just use the tips given in this guide, and you should make it out ok.

[top]
Plutonia is DOOMed
Complete the Final DOOM: Plutonia Experiment single player campaign on "I'm Too Young to Die!" or higher.

Final DOOM: Plutonia Experiment makes up the other half of Final DOOM and contains 30 levels. This is fairly difficult even on "I'm Too Young To Die" difficulty, as strong enemies are plentiful in the earlier levels. However, just take your time, and use the tips given and you should get out with all your limbs intact.

[top]
Master Levels Master
Complete the DOOM 2: Master Levels single player campaign on "I'm Too Young to Die!" or higher.

The Master Levels were an Expansion to DOOM II and was not included on Doom 3 BFG Edition. This campaign has a collection of 21 levels. This isn't too hard. Set it to "I'm Too Young To Die" difficulty, and it will be a breeze. it can be challenging at times, but playing smart will do wonders.

[top]
Dead and Rested
Complete the DOOM 2: No Rest for the Living single player campaign on "I'm Too Young to Die!" or higher.

If you've played Doom 3 BFG Edition than this was included on that disc as well. Just simply complete the 8 levels on I'm Too Young To Die (Easy) difficulty and this trophy is yours. Piece of cake. This is the easiest and fastest campaign you will do, so have fun.

[top]
Level Entry
Complete any Level in any difficulty in singleplayer.

Nothing much to say here, in each game you have a certain number of levels you must complete to progress further into the game. Doing so gets you one step closer to beating the game. Just complete ONE level on ANY game and this trophy is yours.

[top]
100% Level
Complete a Level with 100% Kills, Items and Secrets in singleplayer.

The easiest and fastest place to grab this trophy is in Ultimate Doom on the first level of "Knee Deep In The Dead". All you have to do is discover all secrets (Such as hidden doors which lead to hidden room with some ammo or armor), kill all enemies (Which ties into the secrets since some enemies hide in those secret areas), and collect all items (Which again applies to the secrets as some items are scattered within hidden areas.)

Below is a video I recorded for the Doom 3 BFG Edition which shows all the secrets in the level I mentioned. Just follow where I go and this trophy should be yours.

The Big Gun
Find a BFG in singleplayer.

This is rather simple. Just find a BFG 9000 laying around in any Doom game. They are scattered throughout the campaigns and aren't too hard to find. However, I have recorded a video that shows you the quickest way to acquire a BFG in the Episode "Inferno"

The video shows Map 3 (Pandemonium) Expansion 3 (Inferno) of Ultimate DOOM.

Special thanks to JagDogger for making this easier for everyone.

Finder of Secrets
Find a Secret in any Level in singleplayer.

You will most likely get this while going for 100% Level. So I advise going to that trophy description for more information. But basically in each level there are secret areas you can access which will have some nice goodies for you, such as ammo and armor. Accessing these areas usually entails pressing on specific walls. Sometimes you will see an outline of a door on walls, which helps you find them. But you can also spam the button on each wall till you find one, but that's not as effective as you think.

Below is a video showing you one secret in Doom II that will net you this trophy. Figured adding visual aid would be beneficial

Knuckle Sammich
Kill a CyberDemon with your fists in singleplayer.

This a bit tricky to do, since he has MASSIVE HP and his attacks will knock you backwards. However, a perfect opportunity presents itself in the 30th level of Final Doom: TNT Evilution entitled "Last Call". Also do note that you do NOT have to use your fists for the whole fight, that would be absurd. By now you should be VERY well armed (So long as you saved in good spots throughout to keep your weapons), and should have loads of Power Cells, and Rockets. Which is ammo for the BFG 9000 and the Rocket Launcher respectively. 5 Shots from the BFG and 4-5 shots from the Rocket Launcher should chip his health down far enough. In the corner of the room is an invulnerability power-up, which I STRONGLY recommend using as the Cyberdemon can kill you in 4 well placed shots. Pick up the power up, run over and hold down the fire button with your fists equipped. This may take some luck, as he still has a good amount of health compared to the amount of damage you deal with your fists. Try to trap him in a corner and stay close as his shots will still send you back even if you're invincible.

DOOMed Lumberjack
Kill 20 enemies with your chainsaw on a single map in singleplayer.

All you have to do is pick up a chainsaw and kill 20 enemies in a single map. The best way to do this, is to load up DOOM II: Hell On Earth on "I'm Too Young To Die" difficulty. Once the first level loads up, turn around and pick up the Chainsaw. Rush through this level and make it to the next. This level has many weak enemies, more than you need actually. So just kill 20 of them and this trophy is yours.

[top]
Berserker
Kill 20 enemies while in berserker mode on a single map in singleplayer.

This is a lot easier than it sounds. Berserk is a powerup that amplifies your your melee attack tenfold. Unlike most power ups, where you have a certain amount of time to use them before the effects wear off, this one carries throughout the entire level. So ANY level you find Berserk, pick it up, and kill 20 enemies with your fists.

The best level to do this in is DOOM II: No Rest For The Living on the very first level. Just move forward to the UAC column, activate it, and behind the wall will be a berserk power up. Have fun making your enemies a quivering pile of gore.
