[top]Tips & Strategies

  • All trophies are in XMB order
  • Always keep a good supply of Health, Stamina and Lyrium potions on you in case you need them.
  • The battle is much much different than DA: O. Combat has been sped up significantly and it is much easier to move form enemy to enemy chaining melee attacks together. That being said, consuming potions now has a recharge time much like spells so you can't just keep drinking them to gain health if you haven't waited enough time in between uses.
  • You can switch to any character in your party as your playable character by using either the or the
  • Always try and have a well balanced party with you, I suggest a frontline fighter such as a Warrior or Rogue, either Varric or Sebastian if you have him for crowd control through archery, a Mage to focus on attack to damage multiple enemies at once and a Mage as a healer. If you choose to go the Warrior route, make sure you increase Varric's Cunning skills to he can pick locks for you as your Rogue.
  • Make sure you use the Advanced Tactics to set up your team...set your Healing Mage to have a top priority for healing your team and himself if his health gets too low and set your attacking party members to use their group attack abilities as primary attacks for groups to take down massive health all at once.
  • Keep an eye on your team's health, remember you can switch to other party members and heal them if necessary

[top]Roadmap

Dragon Age 2 has been setup to achieve platinum in 2 playthroughs, one playthrough to side with the Mages and the second playthrough to side with the Templars. It is, however, possible for Veteran Dragon Age players to achieve platinum in one playthrough by using a Dragon Age: Origins import file for the background story and with clever use of multiple save files to cover both sides of the story. That being said, you will still need to play through at least a half another playthrough with the save file exploit and with all the missable collectibles in the game, I recommend focusing on platinum in two playthroughs. In this Roadmap I will cover both Paths to help everyone to their juicy platinums.

[top]Two Playthroughs

Recommended Path for all Players

For this roadmap I will be choosing the either or paths as an example for trophy write up examples. You DO NOT have to take the same path as I do for choices, just remember to do the opposite on your second playthrough of whatever path you choose.

If you are playing on a DA: O save but still plan on using the two playthrough route, reverse these and do the Templar path first to get the Crowning Glory. With the DA: O import you will get the Epic after your first playthrough and then you will only need 3/4 of a second playthrough to finish the remaining trophies.

Playthrough 1 - Mage Path
  • Start out a new game and pick your favorite character class for the game from either Rogue, Warrior or Mage. I recommend not using a Mage if this is your Mage Playthrough.
  • After the opening prologue, you will have the opportunity to import your DA: O save file if you have one.
  • When you get to Kirkwall, complete the mission for either the Mercenaries or the Smugglers to receive either the Mercenary or Nefarious trophy.
  • During the 1st year in Kirkwall, concentrate on not dieing with any party members to receive the Unstoppable trophy.
  • Follow the collectibles guide at the bottom of the guide and you will complete all the collectibles trophies before you finish Year 3 on this playthrough.
  • With this being your collectibles playthrough, also concentrate on doing every secondary and companion mission during the game and you should have no problem hitting level 20 before the end of the 3rd year for the Legendary.
  • Be sure to earn the Arishok's respect during Years 1 and 2 so that you can battle him at the end of Year 2 to earn both the A Worthy Rival and King of the Hill trophies
  • Keep Bethany, Anders and Merrill in your party whenever you can if this is your Mage Playthrough. You should have no problem getting Bethany to a friendship level before the end of Year 1 and by siding with the Mages all the time you should be able to get either Anders or Merrill or both to a friend level by Year 3. From the remaining companions, I recommend either Varric, Isabela or both to focus on as your remaining two friendships to get the Great Minds Think Alike trophy. Both of them are very easy to gain friendship with by being flirtatious in your conversations and you can even romance Isabela, and then romance another companion after her to double up on the friendship points.
  • Pick one, or more, Companion to flirt with in Year 2 to earn the Flirtatious trophy and continue the romance with one of them to the end of Year 3 to earn the Romantic trophy.
  • You should unlock all story based and miscellaneous trophies on this playthrough that aren't choice related trophies.
  • Always side with the Mages and by the beginning of Year 3 you will receive the Arcane Defender trophy.
  • At the end of the playthrough, you will receive the Champion of Kirkwall trophy and if you imported a DA: O save file you will also receive the Epic

Playthrough 2 - Templar Path
  • Start up a New Game from the main menu and select one of the two classes that you didn't use in the first playthrough.
  • When you get to Kirkwall, complete the mission for either the Mercenaries or the Smugglers, depending on your choice in the first playthrough, to receive either the Mercenary or Nefarious trophy.
  • Concentrate on the main story. You don't have to worry about secondary missions as much or companion missions in this playthrough, just keep your focus on always siding with the Templars and by the beginning of Year 3 you will receive the Mage Hunter trophy.
  • Finish off any miscellaneous trophies you may have missed in your first playthrough.
  • Make sure you side with Meredith at the end of the game, EVEN IF IT IS OVER CARVER OR BETHANY! to get the Crowning Glory trophy
  • Once you are finished you will unlock the Epic trophy if you didn't use a save file on your first playthrough.

Cleanup
  • Once the game is completed start another New Game and select the final class you haven't used yet, and play to Kirkwall to unlock the Mass Exodus trophy, which should be your last trophy
  • Ding! The Ultimate Reward

[top]One Playthrough

Optional for players using a Dragon Age: Origins Import File
  • Start out a new game and pick your favorite character class for the game from either Rogue, Warrior or Mage.
  • After the opening prologue, you will have the opportunity to import your DA: O save file.
  • When you get to Kirkwall, AFTER Gamlen tells you to go see either the Smugglers or the Mercenaries, create a manual save file. Now complete the mission for either the Mercenaries or the Smugglers to receive either the Mercenary or Nefarious trophy.
  • Now reload the save file and side with the other faction to grab the other faction trophy and continue playing.
  • On this playthrough, you will need to gather all collectibles, main story, companion and miscellaneous trophies. There is no chapter replay so if you want to do it all in one playthrough you need to pay attention. Also make sure you use the Collectibles Guide at the bottom of the guide or you will most likely be playing again.
  • There are 5 Mage/Templar choices in the first two years, alternate who you side with so that you end Year 2 with a 3-2 tally , then make a new manual save file at the beginning of Year 3 and continue playing to the end of the game. now focus on one or the other until you get either the Mage Hunter or Arcane Defender trophy. Once you have one of them, load up the save file and make the opposite choices to receive the other trophy.
  • Make sure you side with Meredith at the end of the game, EVEN IF IT IS OVER CARVER OR BETHANY! to get the Crowning Glory trophy
  • At the end of the playthrough, you will receive the Champion of Kirkwall trophy and you will also receive the Epic

Cleanup
  • Once the game is completed start another New Game and select the one of the two classes you haven't used yet, and play to Kirkwall.
  • Once you reach Kirkwall, start another New Game and select the final class you haven't used yet, and play to Kirkwall to unlock the Mass Exodus trophy, which should be your last trophy
  • Ding! The Ultimate Reward

Stone Cold
Defeated the rock wraith on your expedition into the Deep Roads.

This is a story related trophy

This will take place in Year 1 during the normal story progression of the game. After you have been double crossed by Bartrand in the Primeval Thaig, proceed through the hallways until you eventually encounter a Hunger Demon who wants to offer you a deal. Regardless of whether or not you accept the Hunger Demon's deal, when you proceed further into the Thaig, you will encounter the Rock Wraith.

Rock Wraith
The Rock Wraith is very easy to defeat, you can take a very aggressive stance towards him and go all out with your attacks with one exception. When he disappears and reappears in the middle of the room, move behind a pillar. The Wraith will emit a high energy blast that will cause massive damage to your entire party if you aren't behind the pillar. Once the blast is over, its business as usual to wok on taking down his health. The Wrath will also summon several minions to help him in the battle, but you can keep your focus on him and pretty much let your companions take them out. Once the Wraith dies, there will be a cutscene followed by a battle with the Hunger Demon and your trophy will unlock. Remember to head back to the battle area after the battle with the Hunger Demon to loot the Wraith and his minions before you leave the area.

King of the Hill
Defeated the Arishok.

This will takes place at the end of Year 2 during the Demands of the Qun main story quest. Although this is a main story quest event, it is still possible to miss this trophy so I didn't mark it as a Story based Trophy. There are several different paths that are available when you finally confront the Arishok, but only one of the paths will result in missing the trophy.

If Isabela appears for the debate and you choose to let the Arishok take Isabela with him to be dealt with, the Qunari will leave and you will not got this trophy!

With that in mind, all other paths will either lead you to a battle by yourself against the Arishok, or a battle against the Arishok and the Qunari against your entire posse. Either way, you will earn the trophy as long as there is a battle and the Arishok is defeated. Below I will briefly cover strategies for both encounters and you can decide which is best for you.

Arishok

Gang Fight
The gang fight is much easier than the one on one battle. If this is going to be your route, make sure you set up your Mage as a healer and set all your other companions to use a potion if they are below 25% health if you don't have that already set up. I also recommend setting up your strategies to have your Mages and Varric use group attacks to take out any enemies that are in groups of 3 or more if you don't have that set up either. As Hawke, move around the battlefield taking out all the Qunari first, they should die very quickly, then you can focus all of your attacks from your team on the Arishok. With the 4 of you he will be hopelessly overmatched and fall very quickly for an easy trophy.

Toe to Toe Battle
If you choose to go the Toe to Toe battle, you are in for a fight. The Arishok has very powerful attacks including an Impale attack that will utterly piss you off as it drains a ton of energy from you. The strategies below should help you make quick work of him:
  • With all 3 classes I recommend a game of stick and move on him. Think of the Arishok as Clubber Lang and you are Rocky...you don't just want to stand there toe to toe with him otherwise he will pulverize you, even with a warrior with good armor.
  • Circle around him and get him taking swings at you and then move in for some jabs and move back out.
  • Remember to use your abilities in the battle and don't just go after him with basic attacks! All 3 classes have fantastic abilities to use against him and by now you should have a good amount of Stamina Drought and Lyrium Potions in reserve. Get in there and slap the shit out of him with your abilities, then retreat behind a pillar. He will most likely give chase and you can use an ability potion and heal if you need to and then get back in the battle.
  • Don't linger too long in between attacks as the Arishok will use potions to heal himself.
  • Watch out for his dash attack, if he hits you he will knock you down and then strike you while you are trying to get up and knock you down again creating a hopeless chain of you not being able to defend yourself while he is manhandling you. If he doesn't hit you with the dash attack, he will be momentarily vulnerable to some attacks, but he likes to immediately attack with his Impaling attack when he regains his wits.
  • Remember to play smart and don't overestimate your lead on him when his health gets low, even if you have full health, as he can take a huge chunk of your health very quickly.

Once the battle ends the trophy will unlock.

Conqueror
Defeated Meredith, knight-commander of Kirkwall's templars.

This is a story related trophy

Meredith is the final battle to conclude DA2. This battle will take place at the end of Year 3 at the end of The Last Straw main story quest. Now this battle is unavoidable, no matter who you side with, and no matter what path you took to get to that point, Meredith will turn on you and you will have to fight her, because she is a psychopath. The battle with Meredith is quite easy, despite her supposedly being so powerful, not nearly as difficult as the High Dragon or the Arishok.

Meredith
Meredith will take on your entire crew and the Templars by herself, and even with her Lyrium infused sword, she is still not very challenging. Go after her all out, use your talents and magic and take the battle to her. She has her basic attacks and one attack that will knock anyone close to her down, but even that point she isn't going to take down enough of your health to worry. Once you have whittled down 1/4 of her health she will retreat and use the magic in the sword...I thought she hated Mages ... to bring one of the giant Gate Guardians to life that overlook the square. The Guardian may look big, but trust me they drop faster than Boosh on a chulo.

Once the first is defeated, Meredith will return to the battlefield. This part of the battle is the same procedure, attack her until she retreats and she will then summon the other statue to attack you.

Once the second statue has been defeated, Meredith will return and will have summoned the Slave Statues around the courtyard to assist her. now since you will have the Templars helping you, no matter what path you take, I recommend concentrating your team on Meredith and leave the lightwork to the Templars.

Once you get her down to 1/4 health, she will retreat again and use her magic to summon even more Slave Statues and turn the downed Gate Guardians into walking statues to attack you. Now is the time to concentrate your attack on taking them all out. I recommend taking out the two downed Gate Guardians first as they are the strongest, then taking out the Slave Statues.

Once they have all been defeated, Meredith will return along with more Slave Statues. Her first attack when she returns will stun everyone on the battlefield, including all of her statue minions. During this point she also doesn't attack, just stands there talking shit. Not really sure of the thought process behind this, she is being dominated, and can stun everyone but doesn't attack only taunts people? How did she get to be the person in charge? Anyway, once you have regained control, continue an offensive attack on Meredith and leave the Statues to the Templars to finally finish her off for the easy trophy.

Talented
Upgraded a spell or talent.

Everytime you level up you will gain at least Ability Point to use in the "Level Up" screen to gain new talents. There are three types of Talents available in DA2 for you to choose from in each of the Specialty trees that you can use to improve your character with your own personal gameplay style:
  • Activated: These talents execute an instant attack on your targeted enemy or enemies.
  • Passive: These talents are in effect on your game character as soon as you choose and confirm the upgrade. They never go away, and you don't have to activate them during the game.
  • Sustained: These talents can be turned on and off during gameplay. When they are turned on, they will take away a portion of your available mana/stamina pool and you won't recover that missing portion until it is turned off again.

In addition to the talents and spells you can upgrade, there will also be upgrades that are available for certain talents. These are represented by a smaller image located right next to the main talent and they will have the same icon shape. For instance a diamond shaped Activated talent will have a diamond shaped upgrade right next to it. For this trophy you only need to upgrade one spell or talent on any specialization path.

[top]
Tag Team
Used teamwork to perform a cross-class combo.

As your party gets to higher levels you will start to notice status effect on the enemies as you are attacking them. There are three types of status effects: Stagger, Disorient and Brittle. The three of these can be caused by using certain talents or spells that have been unlocked through leveling up your characters abilities in the level up screen. When you have achieved one of the status effects, you will see a small icon over the enemies head representing the status effect that he has been afflicted with. Think if these as Primers for a bomb.

Once an enemy has been hit with one of these, you have the opportunity to hit them with another skill or spell that will cause a detonation that will cause a great amount of damage to the target and, depending on the combination, has a chance to damage all surrounding enemies as well. This is a Cross Class Combo. You will most likely get this without even trying just based on the normal progression of the game if you use your skills a significant amount. If for some reason you are having trouble with this, you can make it really easy on yourself. Use your main character to set up a status effect, then use either the or the to change to another character in the party in a class you need and use the detonator from the list below to set off the combo for an easy trophy.

Below are all the combinations available in the game for this trophy. Some skills will require you to first unlock the base skill first and then unlock the correct skill upgrade for the combo to work. For these specific skill upgrades you will see the main skill listed and the upgrade required in the list below it.

That Thing Has Legs
Found and killed a varterral.

The Varterral is an ancient monster created by the Elves with the sole purpose of guarding something. If you have played the Witch Hunt DLC from DA: O then you will already be familiar with the gruesome Varterral. There are actually two Varterral's in the DA2 game although I'm not quite sure the trophy unlocks from killing the second one. The first one is easy enough to find so we shall concentrate on finding that one.
  1. Finish Blackwater Courtesy main story quest: This takes place during Year 2. Once you have completed this main story quest you will have access to the quest with the Varterral.
  2. Begin Mirror Image companion quest: After completing step 1, head to Merril's House in the Elven Alienage and speak with her. She will ask for your help in finding Arulin'Holm to repair the Eluvian that she has been trying to repair. If you are working on a Merrill Rivalry, you can refuse to help her and the mission will still begin.
  3. Travel to Sundermount: Make sure Merrill is in your party, and head to Sundermount to speak with the Dalish Keeper. You can either be polite and help Merrill talk to her, or you can just toss her ass under the bus and gain rivalry points. Either way, the mission will still begin.
  4. Find the Varterral: The Varterral Hunting Grounds cave will now be marked on your map just past the Dalish Camp. Travel here and once inside head to the waypoint to begin the battle.
  5. A Murder of Crows If you happen to miss this quest, in Year 3, if you have a DA: O save file in which you never had to kill Zevran, or are playing a new game, talk to Nuncio near the Blooming Rose to obtain this secondary quest. At the bottom of the cave while looking for the assassin, you will find another Varterral.

Varterral
The Varterral isn't as difficult as he looks, and if you faced off against him in DA: O you will find this battle to be much easier. Go with an all out attack on him as he only has a couple attacks. The first attack is just a regular melee attack, which can be strong against a weaker opponent. Make sure you have your warrior out in front so he has a good target and has no reason to hunt the Mages or Archers in your party. The second attack, he will jump in the air and when he lands he will cause decent damage to all those in the attack radius. During the battle at two points he will call on Cave Spiders to help him. Mercifully these are only Cave Spiders and not their more ferocious cousins the Corrupted Spiders. You can pretty much ignore them and focus on the Varterral as any area attacks will hit the spiders as well. Continue the attack, healing if you need to and once the Varterral falls the trophy will unlock.

Dragon Slayer
Found and killed a high dragon.

A High Dragon is the most powerful enemy that you will face in the Dragon Age world. For those of you who played DA: O, you will be happy to know that even though these High Dragon brings minions to help her in this battle, this battle is much easier than all of the High Dragon encounters in the first game. For those of you who are new to the series, let me assure you that a High Dragon in Dragon Age is not some overrated enemy that you can shout a JOOR...ZAH...FRUL!!!! at to keep it on the ground for you to very easily hack away at it until it perishes. If you have never played SkyRim and don't understand that reference....you'll figure it out at one point or another.

There is only one High Dragon in DA2 and she is not a part of the main story and to find her, you will need to complete secondary quests in both Years 1 and 2. Follow the tips below to find her and then the tips below that for the battle.
  1. Year 1: Complete "The Bone Pit": This secondary quest will appear on Gamlen's writing desk in Year 1 after finishing the Birthright companion quest for Bethany. After you receive the letter, speak to Hubert in the Hightown market area to set the wheels in motion for the showdown in Year 3
  2. Year 1: Complete "Get Back to Work": After completing The Bone Pit, tell Hubert that you will take care of the workers to start this mission. Now head to Lowtown and find Jansen and the rest of the workers and tell them to get their ass back to work to complete the mission.
  3. Year 2: Complete "The Inside Job": This secondary quest will become available after you have completed the Prime Suspect main story quest and if you have completed both secondary quests related to the Bone Pit in Year 1.
  4. Year 2: Complete "Cave Crawling": This secondary quest will become available after completing the Inside Job secondary quest. Talk with Jansen in the Bone Pit, then head inside the mines and defeat the Queen Spider.
  5. Year 3: Begin"The Mine Massacre": This secondary quest will be available if you have completed all missions related to the Bone Pit in Years 1 and 2. Talk to Hubert in the Hightown Market once again to receive this mission. Now head to the Bone Pit and instead of heading into the Mines, head down the path in the left side of the area to pit below to begin the battle.

High Dragon
Make sure your party is properly equipped and head into battle. At the beginning of the fight I recommend hitting the High Dragon with any status ailments you might have to help you in the battle. If you are playing as a Rogue or have a Rogue that has the Mark of Death or Mark of Doom skills I recommend using them on the High Dragon whenever you are facing him in the battle as they will greatly help you in the battle. If you don't have either of these, its not that big of a deal so don't panic.

At the beginning of the battle take the attack to the dragon. All his attacks in this beginning part will be all melee based attacks so take your front line fighters and put them right up in his face and go to town on him. When you get him down to 3/4 health he will fly up onto a ledge and summon a horde of Dragonlings to help him. These should be very easy for you to take out especially if you have your Mages and Archers set up to do group based attacks on enemies in a group. At some point during this phase, the High Dragon will begin to shoot fire balls at you from his perch on the mountain. Once the dragonlings are defeated, cycle through each character one at a time with either the or the and use a potion to heal anyone who needs it. If the High Dragon is still on his perch, move your Mages and Archers onto the road to the right of the hill she is perched on and you can use your long range attacks to attack her and cause damage while she shoots fire balls into the pit below.

Eventually she will fly off her perch and back on to the battlefield. At this point, reapply any ailments on her that may have wore off, change back to your frontline fighters and resume the attack. Once she gets to 1/2 health, she will fly away again and will this time summon Dragons along with Dragonlings to attack you in the pit. Concentrate on the Dragons first as they are fairly tough and can be deadly if your health gets low. Use the same battle plan you use in every battle to take out the Dragons, then the Dragonlings, heal your party with potions and use your long range fighters to attack him on the hill if you get the chance. If not resume the battle wherever he lands.

This will repeat again once the High Dragon gets to 1/4 health so follow the same plan, Dragons, Dragonlings, Potions and attack and finally after the last 1/4 of her health has been drained the High Dragon will fall and the trophy will unlock. Make sure you loot the High Dragon as well to gain some great loot

Exorcist
Found and killed the undying Xebenkeck.

The undying Xebenkeck is an extremely powerful Desire Demon that can only be found during Year 2 of the game. To find this wretched demon, you will first need to find the 5 Evil Tomes that have been scattered about the game. There are 2 in Kirkwall and the remaining 3 can be found in caves outside of Kirkwall in the surrounding locations. Once you find a Tome, you will have the choice to either Destroy the Book, Read the Book or Take the Book. Reading the Tomes will give you bonuses to your stats, but will make the quest uncompletable therefore you MUST choose to Destroy all 5 Books to gain access to this final battle of the quest. You will also gain Rivalry with Merrill if she is in your party for every Tome destroyed so if you are working on a rivalry with her this would be a nice bonus.

For a complete location of all 5 Evil Tomes, please see Year 2 of the Collectibles Guide at the bottom of the main guide.

Xebenkeck
Once you have found and Destroyed all 5 of the Tomes, you will have a new location on your map in Darktown that is available with a waypoint marker for the end of this quest. Head into the location and seek out the Fell Grimoire at the end of the tunnel and you will find another Tome. Now this final Tome can either be Destroyed or Read and you will still fight Xebenkeck so it is entirely up to you if you want to reap the benefits of the stats increase from it. Once you have made your choice, the Xebenkeck will appear behind you along with several Abominations, Rage Demons and even a Revenant. Now this battle is actually quite tough because of the powerful allies she brings into the battle with her. That being said, focus all your power on her first. She has some powerful attacks of her own and the longer she is around to attack you with them the worse the battle will go for you. If you have the Mark of the Assassin skill I recommend it for this battle as it will increase everyone's attacks on her. Once she falls, turn your focus on whatever riff raff you have roaming around in the room still until they are all defeated and the trophy is yours.

Found and killed the ancient demon, Hybris.

Hybris is an extremely powerful Pride Demon that can only be found during Year 3 of the game. In order to find Hybris, you will need to find the 3 Awiergan Scrolls located in the areas outside of Kirkwall and then find the corresponding demon lairs that go with each one. At each lair, you will be attacked be several demons and darkspawn before the lair master attacks you. Once you have cleared out all the 3 lairs you will gain access to the final battle for the trophy.

For a complete location of all 3 Awiergan Scrolls, please see Year 3 of the Collectibles Guide at the bottom of the main guide.
  1. Awiergan Scrolls: First Aspect/ Wounded Coast Lair: After finding the first scroll, you can find the Lair located on the main path heading towards the exit on the opposite end of the area. Once you hit the lair, you will be attacked by several Undead Corpses. Once the majority of them have been defeated you will face off against Medan.
  2. Awiergan Scrolls: Second Aspect/ Sundermount Graveyard Lair: After finding the second scroll, head up to the graveyard, then continue up the path towards the top of Sundermount and you will find this lair on the main path. This lair has only one minion, but it also comes with two very powerful Revenants, making it the most difficult of the 3 lairs. I recommend attacking the two Revenants, beacon and Gifre, first then handling Bysmor after they are dead. The two Revenants will use Group attacks to try and inflict damage on multiple members if your party at the same time so they should be your main focus. If you are having trouble, try retreating back to the graveyard and attacking them as they try to come down the path.
  3. Awiergan Scrolls: Third Aspect/ Sundermount Lair: After collecting the third scroll, head up the path from the Dalish camp and you will run into the final lair at the ruins. This is definitely the easiest of the 3 lairs as you will only have some undead and an arcane horror to defeat.

Hybris
Once you have defeated all 3 lairs, fast travel to Ander's Clinic and head towards the marker that is located near the entrance to his clinic. Once inside head to the middle room to face off against Hybris. Now despite being in Year 3, the Hybris battle is easier than the battle against the Xebenkeck. The main reason that the battle is easier is because Hybris only summons a few Shades and a couple Rage Demons to assist him. Really the only thing you need to watch out for in this battle is the Blue Circle magic he casts on the ground. Once you see that, make sure you are out of the circle before he activates the spell which will trap you in the circle while causing massive damage to any team members in the circle. Other than that, this will be a nice easy trophy for you.

Weapon Master
Mastered a weapon style.

The only way you could possible miss this trophy is if you go out of your way to not get the trophy. Whenever your character levels up, you will receive ability points to put towards new abilities in any of the Specializations you have available. For this trophy you simply need to unlock and upgrade ever skill in one Specialization. What this means is that on your way to level 20 or higher, you will want to have many different skills from several different Specializations to have more options for your character, but you must choose one specialization with at least on of your characters to complete for this trophy. As soon as you have completed all the upgrades on one specialization the trophy will unlock.

Unstoppable
Completed a full year in Kirkwall without any party member being knocked unconscious.

For this trophy, you must survive an entire year in Kirkwall without any of your Companions going into "Pimp Down" Status. While this may sound like it is difficult I can assure you that with the right preparation you will find that this is a very easy trophy. Follow these tips below to help assist you in this and as soon as you finish a complete year in Kirkwall without any member of your posse going into "down" status the trophy will unlock.
  • Complete this by the end of Year 1: This is be far the easiest of the playthroughs to complete this on. Your party doesn't start out very powerful but by the end your team will be fairly strong in battle. In Year 2 you have several difficult enemies to battle including Xebenkeck, Varterral, and the Arishok so that is out. In Year 3 your team will be very powerful BUT you have to battle the High Dragon, Meredith and Orsino. In Year 1 the extent of your boss battles is the Demon in the Deep Roads and a couple of Mature Dragons who aren't overly difficult so I definitely recommend this Year as your target.
  • Always have a Healer: In year 1 you will have Bethany in your crew, unless you are a mage, and you will also have Anders as long as you go grab him. Both Anders and Bethany have access to healing spells and at least one of them should be kept in your party at all times. You cold even bring both if you are overly paranoid about it.
  • Properly set up your team: It doesn't do you any good to just toss Bethany or Anders into your posse if you don't change up their tactics. Head into the Characters Tactics screen and set whoever is going to be in your party as the Healer to these commands as their first two actions:
    • Party Member> Less than 50% Health> Heal
    • Self> Less than 50% Health> Heal

  • Play the game on Easy: There is no trophy for playing on Hard or even Normal...nobody likes a show off
  • Take the time to save: Only takes a couple seconds, you are in a dungeon, it has been a while since you've autosaved, hit the menu and toss out a manual save in case someone goes down.
  • Use Potions: If you are in a major battle keep an eye on your companions health. If one of them looks low, use the or to cycle to the teammate and use a Potion.

Craftsman
Acquired your first crafting recipe.

This trophy can be unlocked when you first have control of your character in Kirkwall after meeting with Varric. Once you have control of Hawke, head around the corner to the market place in Hightown and near the exit you will find Worthy who is the Enchanter for Hightown. Talk to Worthy and he will give you the Design: Rune of Protection rune and your trophy will unlock. If for some reason, you leave the area before talking to Worthy, this trophy will unlock the first time you receive or find any Potion Recipe, Rune Design or Grenade Formula for the game.

For a complete location of all Formulas, Designs and Runes, please see Years 1-3 of the Collectibles Guide at the bottom of the main guide.

Financier
Became a partner in a Deep Roads expedition.

This is a story related trophy

When you have finished the prologue and are ready to being your time in Kirkwall, the 1st year opens up with Hawke and Bethany trying to convince Bartrand to let them come along on an expedition to the Deep Roads. After being brutally rebuffed, you will meet Varric, Bartrand's brother, who tells you that you will be accepted as part of the mission if you can help fund half of the expedition. To do this you will need to raise 50 sovereigns.

This is actually quite easy as long as you remember to loot every chest and enemy that you kill while working on your missions. Also I recommend always having a Rogue and increasing the Rogues lockpick skills so you can access the locked chests with better loot.If you are working on your collectible run, you will be working on almost all the missions anyway so you shouldn't have any problems reaching well over 50 sovereigns by the end of the first year. As soon as you you are ready and have over 50 Sovereigns head into Hightown to find Bartrand near the Market to pay him to become a partner and the trophy will unlock.

If you haven't reached 50 sovereigns by the end of the level you will receive a letter for a missions called Friends in Low Places at Gamlen's House. A Loan Shark will offer to loan you the money you need for the Expedition. I recommend not taking this route as you will get less money at the beginning of Year 2 and I have also heard that it can cause the trophy to glitch.

[top]
Dedicated
Reached Level 10.

You will most likely unlock this before you even finish Year 1 of the game, especially if you are doing all the quests for the collectibles. If for some reason you don't hit level 10 by the end of Year 1 you will hit it by the beginning of Year 2. As soon as you get to Level 10 the trophy will unlock.

[top]
A Friend in Need
Upgraded the armor of one of your party members.

This isn't a story related trophy, but if you complete the Birthright Companion quest for either Bethany or Carver in Year 1 you will find the first upgrade piece of armor at the end of the area in the chest with Father's Will. While Bethany and Carver won't count for the I Got Your Back trophy, upgrading either if their armor at the end of this quest will count for this trophy. If you happen to miss this, the first piece of companion Armor that you upgrade will unlock the trophy.

For a complete location of all Companion Armor, please see Years 1-3 of the Collectibles Guide at the bottom of the main guide.

[top]
Enchanter
Enchanted an item.

Weapon and Armor Runes are back from DA: O and much like the previous game, they can have an extremely beneficial effect on your character's stats for the game. This trophy can be earned as soon as you have enough money or ingredients to either make your own rune at either a Rune Constructing Station, or by finding one for purchase at one of Kirkwall's many shops. Once you have a Rune, doesnt really matter what you have, head to an enchanters table to see if you have any equipment that you can add it to. If you do, select the Rune, and place it in either the armor or weapon and the trophy will unlock. If you don't have anything to put it in yet, keep checking back as you progress through the story until you have an item with a Rune Slot to add it to. You can also place Runes in Companion Armor if you can find the upgrades for extra rune slots.

You can add Runes at the Merchant's Guild shop in Hightown or at the Hawke Estate at the Rune Enchantment table located next to Sandal

[top]
Master Craftsman
Crafted all of the items from a single crafting tree.

There are a total of 3 crafting trees in Dragon Age 2, Recipe, Design and Formula. For this trophy you will need to find every item in one of the crafting trees and craft one of each item. Now these are hidden amongst all 3 Years in Kirkwall. The joy of this Easter Egg Hunt is that anything you miss in Year 1 won't be available in Year 2 or 3 and so on. Because of this I recommend you aim for collecting every single crafting recipe for each year that way if you happen to miss one in one of the Years, you can still try and get the trophy from collecting everything on one of the other Crafting Trees. In addition to collecting the recipes, you will also need to have found enough of the crafting resources, which includes collecting pretty much everything in the Supplier trophy for each Tree and you will need to have enough money to purchase the items. Once you have crafted all of the items from one of the three crafting trees the trophy will unlock.

For a complete location of all Formulas, Designs and Runes, please see Years 1-3 of the Collectibles Guide at the bottom of the main guide.

[top]
Mogul
Had 100 or more sovereigns in your purse.

This is a Sovereign. Sovereigns are the gold pieces that you collect for currency to be used in Dragon Age 2. This trophy isn't a story related trophy as you can miss it if you spend your money wildly, but you will have no problem collecting over 100 sovereigns total during your gameplay. If you are completing your collectible run, you should get 70+ sovereigns in just the first Year before giving 50 of it to Bartrand. As long as you didn't take out a loan from the Friends in Low Places secondary quest, you will get that 50 back at the beginning of Year 2 plus all the rest of your earnings from the trip which will easily put you over 100 sovereigns to start Year 2 for the easy trophy.

[top]
Crowning Glory
Became the viscount of Kirkwall.

This is a story related trophy

This trophy is deceptive. It is a story based trophy, but missable all in one. During the Last Straw main story quest at the end of Year 3, you will be given a choice to side with either Meredith and the Templars or with Orsino and the Mages. This trophy will unlock at the end of the game, during the credits, if you stay sided with the Templars from this point on. If you side with the Mages from any point after this you will not become the Viscount and won't unlock the trophy.

[top]
Specialized
Learned two class specializations.

Specializations have changed in Dragon Age 2 from Origins. In DA2, you no longer have to find or unlock specializations in order for your character to learn them. Also in DA2 only Hawke can learn specializations instead of everyone in your party. Your companions will already have one custom specialization that is specific to just them to upgrade. Each of the 3 classes has 3 custom specializations available to learn. The specializations are already set in this game and they aren't available to everyone, for example you can't have a warrior that's an Archer like in DA: O...boooo.

There are a total of 3 Specialization Points to be earned in the game at levels 7, 14 and 21. Once you have hit level 14 with Hawke and have learned 2 of the 3 specializations available the trophy will unlock.
  • Warrior
    • Berserker: The Berserker set is designed to make your warrior stronger. Whether it be from sacrificing stamina or armor for strength and speed in battle, or from gaining more stamina back from every kill. This skill set has some very useful skills for your Warrior to use in battle if you are already strong.
    • Reaver: The Reaver path is basically having blood magic for your Warrior. Other than the Devour skill set, this specialization is pretty worthless in my opinion.
    • Templar: The Templar set is focused on stopping Mages and Demonic forces, because of this I recommend this as the best specialization for the Warrior class. The Holy Smite set, especially fully powered, and the Righteous Strike set can be very useful especially late in the game.

  • Rogue
    • Assassin: This is by far the most useful custom specialization out of any class in the game. The assassin uses his sneaky skills to cause higher damage on enemies. The Mark of Death set will help your entire party cause more damage to targets, and the Assassinate set can cause major damage or even instant death against your target. I recommend this as your first upgrade.
    • Duelist: The Duelist path focuses on counterattacks and taunting enemies into focusing on you while making mistakes to allow you to cause greater damage. I only recommend this path if you have reached level 21 and don't have anything left.
    • Shadow: The Shadow is a watered down version of the Assassin. That being said, it has a couple of decent attacks for hitting enemies while they aren't watching you, but nothing I would put into my regular rotation of Skills.

  • Mage
    • Blood Mage: The Blood Mage uses their own blood, or the blood of others to create very powerful magic. That being said, other than Hemorrhage, the Blood Mage path doesn't have very many useful spells.
    • Force Mage: The Force Mage is somewhat like a Jedi You can use your mind to throw things at enemies as well as use your mind to attack them. This set has several useful skills and is one I recommend.
    • Spirit Healer: This is the best Healing skill set in the game. Unfortunately you can't set it to be used by your companions, only by yourself. If you are playing as a Mage, you should definitely work on this skill set to be a back up Healer in your party...or even main Healer and focus everyone else on attacking.

[top]
I Got Your Back
Completely upgraded the armor of one of your party members.

In DA2, you have no control over what armor your Companions are wearing. They come standard with a set of armor that can't even be removed...otherwise the Hoff would have had a half naked Merrill roaming around with him all game long . That being said, you can find 4 upgrades for your companions armor spread over all 3 years in Kirkwall. The armor upgrades, not only increase your defense but can also increase certain attack stats and even make it possible to attach Runes to their armor..

For this trophy you only have to complete a set of one of your companion's armor, but I recommend getting as many upgrades as you can as it will make them more effective in combat. The exception to this trophy is Bethany and Carver. They only have one upgrade as they leave the party after the first year and will not unlock you the trophy if you find their upgrade. Also you can upgrade Sebastian's Armor if you have the Exiled Prince DLC, but I am not sure if this will count for the trophy or not.

Below I will list all the available Companion Armor for each member of your posse. For more in depth locations of all Companion Armor, please see Years 1-3 of the Collectibles Guide at the bottom of the main guide.

Legendary
Reached Level 20.

Level 20 is actually quite easy to get in this game. If you are playing the game right and doing your collectible run you should hit level 10 in year 1 and near the beginning of Year 3 you will have no problems hitting level 20. If you are having troubles, both the Legacy and Mark of the Assassin DLC will continue your gameplay and allow you to continue leveling up. If you can't seem to get to Level 20 by the end of your game, try purchasing one of these DLCs to get to your level for the trophy.

Immigrant
Became a resident of Kirkwall.

This is a story related trophy

After you have completed the Prologue and completed the quests for either the Mercenaries or the Smugglers you will gain entry into Kirkwall. After watching a cutscene that introduces you to Bartrand and Varric, you will officially be in Year 1 of the game and be an official resident of Kirkwall and your trophy will unlock.

[top]
Delver of the Deep
Explored the Deep Roads.

This is a story related trophy

At the end of Year 1 once you have paid Bartrand and set off to the Deep Roads for the Deep Roads Expedition main story quest, this trophy will unlock after watching the cutscene when you first take control of Hawke inside the Deep Roads.

[top]
Birthright
Kicked the slavers out of your ancestral mansion.

This is a Companion Quest for either Bethany or Carver that becomes available after you have visited Gamlen's House and had an argument with him in the beginning of Year 1 in Kirkwall. After the argument, talk to either Bethany or Carver and a scheme will form about money and a will and the Hawke Estate. Once you have agree to look for the will, head to Darktown and head to the waypoint marker to find the back entrance to the Amelle Estate Cellar to begin the quest. inside you will find a pile of slaver guards and some decent loot. battle your way to the top of the stairs in the final area and in the last treasure chest you will find Leandra's Parents Will to end the quest and receive your trophy.

Darkness Falls
Toggled the map from day to night.

The first time you enter the main map for the game, which will be whenever you leave any main area, press either the and you will toggle the map from Kirkwall (Day) to Kirkwall (Night) and you will unlock an easy bronze trophy

[top]
Explorer
Left Kirkwall to explore the outlying regions.

This is a story related trophy

After you have toggled the map from day to night in the last trophy, travel to one of the available locations outside of Kirkwall in the Free Marches such as Sundermount, Wounded Coast, or anything else you might have available at the time and another easy bronze trophy will unlock.

[top]
Spelunker
Visited 10 caves in Kirkwall and the surrounding area.

This trophy is missable if you only play the main story quest and aren't trying to get a platinum in this game. If that is the case, I don't even know why you would be looking at this guide anyway so pack it up and get your ass outta here if that is you

For the rest of us who are going for plat, it is impossible to miss this trophy while working on your Collectibles, companion quests and secondary quests for this game. I could list out all the caves you would be exploring, but you can see them all at the very bottom of this guide in the Collectibles Guide. You should get this trophy sometime in Year 2 through normal gameplay for your platinum as soon as you explore 10 caves.

[top]
Mass Exodus
Reached Kirkwall with each character class across multiple playthroughs.

This trophy should be the last trophy you unlock for your platinum. For this trophy, you must make it to the beginning of the outskirts of Kirkwall with all 3 character classes, Rogue, Warrior and Mage. You don't have to complete the tasks as the Gallows to gain entry into Kirkwall for this trophy, just make it to Kirkwall itself. Once you have finished your other trophies, load up a new game with the final class you need and play the prologue again, or twice more if you chose the one playthrough route. As soon as all three classes have made it the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Knowledgeable
Unlocked 100 codex entries.

The Codex is the journal that Hawke keeps that contains information on everything that you have discovered in your travels. pretty much everything new you learn about will get added into the codex for later reference. The codex has 8 different sub categories that information falls into during your travels: Creatues, Items, Places, Lore, Character, Letters and Notes and Art of War. As you can see pretty much everything has a place in the codex. When traveling around the world, both in Kirkwall and in the outer regions, you will see icons that look like an eye with informational text next to it. This is a codex entry. Investigate this and it will be added to the codex and you will receive 50 EXP as well. You will also receive new codex entries for new enemies you face in battle, new locations discovered and even for some info you hear in conversations. As soon as you reach your first 100 entries this trophy will unlock. You will most likely receive this during Year 1 in Kirkwall through normal gameplay for the platinum, if not you should get it early in Year 2.

[top]
Treasure Hunter
Opened 50 chests.

Treasure Chests are located all over the place in Dragon Age 2. You will find them in the towns, in buildings, in caves, in the outlying areas and on missions. The majority of these chests will be unlocked and you simply need to interact with them and loot them. The best part about these chests is that unlike other games, nobody really gives a damn if you loot them either. You can even walk into the Viscount's Quarters and loot his crap from his chest and nobody will say anything about it. There are some chests that are locked and these will require a Rogue with a high enough cunning skill to pick the lock. As long as you open all the chests you come across you should unlock this trophy sometime early in Year 2. Really the only way to miss this trophy is to never open any of the chests. I recommend always bringing a Rogue with you and during Year 1 concentrate on getting the Cunning stat between 25-30 and in Year 2 get to 40 that way you can open any lock and any door that may be locked. As soon as you get to 50 chests looted the trophy will unlock.

Supplier
Found every variety of crafting resources.

There are a total of 3 crafting trees in Dragon Age 2, Recipe, Design and Formula. Inside each crafting tree, there are 4 ingredients that must be mixed to learn each item in the tree. For this trophy you will need to find every ingredient in ALL of the crafting trees. Now these are hidden amongst all 3 Years in Kirkwall. The joy of this Easter Egg Hunt is that anything you miss in Year 1 won't be available in Year 2 or 3 and so on. To view your ingredient progress, visit any of the crafting tables for the 3 crafting trees either in your estate, Gamlen's House or at the merchants and view the found ingredients on the bottom of the screen.

You will need to acquire all Companions in Year 1 and keep them until Year 3 to obtain this trophy!

For a complete location of all Ingredients, please see Years 1-3 of the Collectibles Guide at the bottom of the main guide.

Archeologist
During each year in Kirkwall, discovered 3 secret messages from the Band of Three.

During each year in Kirkwall there are 4 special Codex entries hidden from the Band of Three. For this trophy you need to find 3/4 of the entries in each year in Kirkwall. They will always have the codex label Enigma of Kirwall to make them easier to find. To view how many of them you have found visit your codex and find the Enigma of Kirkwall entry and see how many times it has been signed. Each new codex you find will be added to this page instead of getting its own entry into the codex. As soon as you have found 3 from each year the trophy will unlock.

For a complete location of all Enigma of Kirkwall codex entries, please see Years 1-3 of the Collectibles Guide at the bottom of the main guide.

Full House
Recruited four party members.

This is another one of those "might as well be a story related trophy" missable trophies. If you are going for plat you will get this trophy. As a matter of fact it's almost impossible to not get this trophy as you get Bethany/Carver, and Varric as standard equipment in your quest. Simply play the game going for plat and you will receive your trophy after you have recruited two more companions. All companions are available to recruit in Year 1 of the game.

For a complete location of all Companions, please see Years 1 of the Collectibles Guide at the bottom of the main guide.

Friends in High Places
Met Grand Cleric Elthina, Viscount Dumar, Knight-Commander Meredith, and First Enchanter Orsino.

This is a story related trophy

You will encounter all of these people during the main story of the game between Years 1-2. This is technically supposed to all take place during Act 2, but there are a couple secondary quests that can cause you to meet some of them sooner. I have outlined below when each person is encountered so you know who each person is. Once you have encountered The last of the 4 important people for Kirkwall the trophy will unlock.
  • Viscount Dumar: You will encounter the Viscount during the Blackpowder Courtesy main story quest at the beginning of Year 2. You can also encounter him during Year 1 for the Unbidden Rescue secondary quest.
  • Grand Cleric Elthina: You will encounter Elthina in the Chantry, at the end of the Following the Qun main story quest in Year 2.
  • Knight Commander Meredith: You will encounter Meredith, in the market in Hightown, during the Demands of the Qun main story quest at the end of Year 2.
  • First Enchanter Orsino: You will find the first enchanter at the bottom of the steps leading up to the Keep in Hightown during the Demands of the Qun main story quest at the end of Year 2.

Gift Giver
Gave a gift to one of your party members.

In DA2, the gift giving process has been changed. Once you find a gift, it triggers a companion quest with a specific companion. Gone are the days of finding a gift and wondering who to give it to. Once you give the gift to the intended character there will be a small cutscene. Each companion has several gifts that you can give them and although you only need to give one gift to receive this trophy, gifts can be a great way to increase your friendship levels with your posse. As soon as you give your first gift the trophy will unlock.

For a complete location of all Gifts, please see Years 1-3 of the Collectibles Guide at the bottom of the main guide.

[top]
Flirtatious
Flirted with one of your party members to begin a romance.

Flirting is much easier in Dragon Age 2 compared to Dragon Age: Origins. The first thing that has been updated in this game is that you can flirt with any of the party members regardless of your gender. Apparently Kirkwall is overrun by a pile of free loving hippies that just get it on with everyone . Secondly, instead of it being a big easter egg hunt as to what is flirting and what isn't with the CPU, anytime you have the option to flirt in a conversation it will have this icon in front your response.

There are two types of flirting in DA2. The first is harmless everyday flirting that leads nowhere like you can do with Varric. It will give you a boost in your friendship but it has no ending point in the destination. If you flirt with Merrill, Isabela, Fenris or Anders however, you can begin a relationship that will last for many years. You may have some opportunities for harmless flirting in Year 1, but this trophy won't unlock until Year 2 when you can start building towards a romantic relationship with a companion. This one is really simple, the first companion you flirt with in Year 2 will result in an unlocked trophy.

[top]
Friend
Earned the friendship of one of your party members.

The friendship and rivalry scale is back in Dragon Age 2 and has a few tweaks to it. The biggest tweak is that you no longer have to raise your relationship to a high friendship level to engage in a romance with your companions. The relationship gauge will begin in the middle at zero and almost every decision you make in conversations and in quest decisions will have some type of bearing on the relationship meter with at least someone in your party. Once you have gained 100 points in either direction the relationship meter will lock as either a Friend or a Rival and decisions after that won't effect the scale in at all. Your companions will always respect you and fight with you no matter what your score is, so you don't have to worry about them leaving or not helping in battle even if they are rivals.

DA2 also added companion specific abilities that unlock when your companions become either a Friend or a Rival. These can be viewed in the companions custom ability tree that is specific just to them. Gifts can be used to raise a companions friendship or rivalry score based on the path you are already on and the decisions you make in the gift giving process. Below I will map out the characters, each of the Friendship level perks and give strategies on how to raise that relationship score with them. I will not be listing strategies for both Carver and Bethany as I only had Bethany in my parties and will only focus on her.

Bethany
Bethany in my opinion is the easiest to gain a friendship with and you should be able to get her to friendship status before the end of the Year 1 without even taking her to the Deep Roads, which is good, since she leaves until Year 3. If you are playing a two playthrough method, you will need to do this on your Mage run as Bethany's friendship levels increase when you make decisions that help other Mages. Unfortunately, Bethany does not have a talent specialty that unlocks when she reaches either the friendship or rivalry level so there is really no benefit for her loyalty.

Merrill
Solidarity: Blood of the first cost ratio: 1 health = 1 additional mana

Merrill is probably the second easiest to gain friendship with. You basically only need to follow the same strategies that you used with Bethany, with one small exception, you will need to be tolerant of Blood Magic and demons. Remember to side with her and always be helpful and sympathetic to Elves and you will raise her to friendship status very quickly.

Thumbs Up: +5 Attack Speed for both Hawke and Isabela

Isabela can be harder to gain friendship with if she is in your party all the time. She loves sarcasm and she loves flirting which is great for when you have one on ones with her in the Hanged Man and at your Estate. She isn't particularly fond of helping others, but not quite into the absolutely loathes it like Morrigan did in the first game. You can actually gain her friendship by Year 3 by just giving her gifts, being nice to her and flirting with her, having a romance with her (which doesn't exclude you from doing with anyone else as she doesn't want a commitment anyway) and performing her companions quests when she is in your party. If you absolutely insist on bringing her along, try to be somewhat charming and even snide with people and don't hesitate to use the Extort Money Dialogue options when you can as she likes that as well.

Varric
Authorized Biographer: +5% Attack Speed and Dodge Chance for Varric

Varric will be the third easiest to gain a friendship with in my opinion. All you have to do to gain friendship with Varric is chat with him anytime he wants to talk and use the charming and flirt options to joke around with him. Always try and talk out confrontations with third parties and save an all out confrontation as the last resort.

Aveline
Serve and Protect: 10% of Hawke's damage taken is transferred to Aveline and Aveline receives a +5% Damage Resistance increase.

Aveline isn't as hard as you would think she would be to get into friend status, even on a Mage playthrough. Really all you have to do is be nice and helpful to her and do what's right, even if it means breaking the law. The only things that really effect her negatively are extreme lawbreaking, blood magic/blood mages and treating her like she is a pile of crap.

Anders

Anders is very similar to Merrill in gaining his friendship. Anytime you are good to Mages, he will gain an increase. That being said, he differs from Merrill in that he doesn't support Blood Magic or Demons.

Rival
Earned the rivalry of one of your party members.

Below I will map out the characters, each of the Rivalry level perks and give strategies on how to raise that rivalry score with them. I will not be listing strategies for both Carver and Bethany as I only had Bethany in my parties and will only focus on her.

Bethany
Bethany is fairly difficult to have as a Rival. You will need to be mean and sarcastic to her and always side against the Mages. If you absolutely insist on having her as a Rival, do this during your Templar playthrough.

Merrill
Outcast: Merrill receives a +10% Damage Resistance bonus.

I think Merrill is the easiest to get into a Rivalry, if you are on your Templar runthrough. All you have to do is never give she wants, never support the Mages or Demons, and be sarcastic and mean to her all the time. Oddly, she is one of those girls that desperately seeks approval so even if she tells you that she never wants to see you again, she will never leave your party and will still want to hook up.

Aveline is pretty easy to gain Rivalry with, especially if its your Mage playthrough. Romantic
Completed a romance with one of your party members.

The relationships that you can begin in Year 2 for the Flirtatious trophy, will carry over to Year 3. Even though you can harmlessly Flirt with your desired romantic interest, you will need several rounds of flirting and helping your companions to finish planting the seeds of love. Once the seeds have been planted, you are going to tap it in a night of sweet lovin at Hawke Estate. Now even though you have had a night of hot sex, you will still need to put in more ground work to get to this trophy. This trophy will not unlock until the final showdown. Just before the final showdown you will have a chance to talk to all your party members and you can reconfirm your commitment to them to unlock the trophy.

Now before you get too excited, if you have played DA: O you will be disappointed in the sex scenes in this game. The best one IMO would be Isabela's and it still isn't anything to brag about. You only get the one sex scene and cant even go see them in your house after you have the relationsip going for another round of sex...just one and done. The Hoff was seriously disappointed >:F.

  • Romantic Interest: Merrill
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • The Sexy Merrill can be found at the Dalish Camp while completing the Long Way Home quest
    • You will receive several Flirt Dialogue Commands when talking to Merrill, make sure you take advantage of them starting in Act 2 to get the relationship moving forward
    • After the Mirror Image, you will need to visit Merrill in her home in Lowtown. Once there, make sure you use the Flirt Dialogue Command again in the conversation.
    • After that, head back to Hawke Estate and Merrill will be waiting. During the conversation that happens follow the obvious choices to initiate sexy time with the little minx. IF you don't know what Dialogue choices to pick for this, I feel sad for your personal life.
    • After the sex scene, have her move in to continue the relationship.
    • After she moves in, you will notice that she isn't always there and won't be until after A New Path companion quest in Year 3
    • From this point if you want to continue your relationship with Merrill, make sure you include her if anyone ever tries to take you away from her in private convos *cough*Isabela*cough*.
    • Before you begin the final battle, make sure you talk to Merrill and tell her that you want to stay together after everything is over and the trophy will unlock after a sexy last kiss.

  • Romantic Interest: Isabela
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • The voluptuous Isabela can be found inside the Hanged man after the Tranquility
    • You will have the option to Flirt with Isabela in Year 1, but they will only really start to count in Year 2.
    • After visiting Isabela in the Hanged Man at the beginning of Year 2, if you used the Flirt commands, head back to Hawke Estate and Isabela will be waiting for you and it will be time to unleash those warlocks for some naughty time
    • After naughty time, express your feelings for her and inquire about her past to continue your relationship with her. She doesn't move in with you, so don't get stressed out when she leaves
    • DO NOT LET THE ARISHOK TAKE HER! If anyone gets to enjoy those heaving boobs it should be you >:F
    • In Year 3, she will ask you to join her on her ship once everything is finished, and will profess her feelings.
    • In the final conversation before the final battle, finalize your romance with her and the trophy unlocks.

  • Romantic Interest: Fenris
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Fenris can be found by completing the Bait and Switch quest in Year 1
    • You will have the option to Flirt with Fenris in Year 1, but they will only really start to count in Year 2.
    • When visiting with Fenris in the beginning of Year 2, use the Flirt commands to start the relationship.
    • Wait for the Questioning Beliefs Companion quest for Fenris to appear and once you are talking to Fenris, use the Flirt commands
    • Now head to Hawke Estate and you will find Fenris waiting for you to show you how much of a "hardened warrior" he is...oh yea...I went there.
    • Much like Isabela, Fenris will leave after the night of hot sex and will not move in with you
    • On the second Questioning Beliefs companion quest, make sure you forgive him.
    • Before the Final battle talk to Fenris again to receive the trophy as you finalize your relationship

  • Romantic Interest: Anders
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Anders can be found in the clinic during the Tranquility quest.
    • You can begin flirting with Anders during Year 1, but it won't progress the romance until Year 2
    • In Year 2, flirt with him every chance you get until you get to the Questioning Beliefs companion quest. Use the Flirt commands here and he will kiss you.
    • Now head to Hawke Estate to show him where the "magic" happens...yea...went there again
    • After the night of hot sex, have Anders move in with you.
    • The final point happens after the Justice main story quest. After these events you will have a choice on who to side with and a chance to run away with Anders. This is the final decision for this trophy and the romance.

  • Romantic Interest: Sluts
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • These are the random sluts...or prostitutes if you prefer, that populate the Blooming Rose
    • Unfortunately this will not count towards your trophy
    • The Hoff was disappointed with the sluts in DA2. There weren't as many as DA: O, There wasn't a sexy cutscene with witty banter in your underwear and I swear one of the girls was a dood.
    • The only thing that the sluts are really good for in this game is to gain Rivalry with certain party members that are too proud to pay for sex.

  • Romantic Interest: Zevran
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Zevran can only be found in Year 3 if you are using a new save or if you imported a DA: O save in which he survived. If this happened start The Murder of Crows side quest.
    • Unfortunately this will not count towards your trophy
    • Begin flirting with Zevran in the cave and obviously don't kill him when you have the chance
    • After returning to the Crows, a battle will ensue. After the battle you will have the opportunity to have naughty time with Zevran
    • If Isabela is with you, she will either go off with Zevran, or offer to let you join them.

There is one in each year, except year 2 in which you will find 2 Chapters. Make sure you collect each chapter in the year you are in as it won't be there the next year.

Great Minds Think Alike
Earned the friendship or rivalry of four party members.

You can achieve this with any four party members. The trick is you have to have 4 complete friendships or rivalries or a combination of the two in one playthrough. The Hoff recommends, Bethany, Merrill, Varric and Isabela all on your Mage Playthrough. If you need help, use the Character Tables in the Friend and Rival trophies to help you gain either maximum stats with the characters of your choice.

Upon arriving in Kirkwall, you will find you can't get into the city. This initial decision has no bearing on any of the outcomes of the game. Simply head on over to Meeran and complete his quest for the trophy

If you are playing the one playthrough method, make sure you save before talking to either person so you can do a quick load and get the other trophy quickly.

Arcane Defender
Sided with the mages five times.

During the three years you will have several opportunities to choose sides. Neither side presents a very good case as the Mage side always seems to have some type of connection to Blood Magic and the Templar side always has a connection to that psychopath Meredith. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's hard to be sympathetic to either side as both sides have such extremes to them. For this trophy, you will need to side the Mages 5 times. Now unfortunately, there are only 8 choices, so you can't earn this and the Mage Hunter in the same playthrough. If you are doing two playthroughs, which is what this game is set up for make sure you alternate. If you are doing one playthrough, you will need to use save files to get this. Below are all the choices divided by year for this trophy.

Year 1
  • Wayward Son: Send Feynriel to the Elves
  • Act of Mercy: Agree to help the Mages
  • Enemies Among Us: Keran stays with the Templars

Year 2
  • Night Terrors: Save Feynriel
  • Demands of the Qun: Follow Orsino's plans

Year 3
  • Start of Year: Side with Orsino in the opening argument
  • On the Loose: Let Emile Launcet escape
  • Best Served Cold: Defend the Mages to Samson

[top]Collectibles Guide

This section will focus on all the collectibles in the game. The collectibles are the only difficult thing about this game and the only thing standing between you and your luscious platinum. While some areas containing collectibles can be revisited repeatedly, the mission specific areas cannot be revisited once you leave the area to complete the mission. In addition to that, all collectibles are Year specific in the game, so if you happen to miss one in it won't be available to collect the next year. I have color coordinated all the collectibles based on trophy to help everyone out and I have also tried to list the collectibles in the order that would be easiest to collect them in the locations outside of Kirkwall and for any mission based areas. The color listings are below:

Important! You must find all the OPTIONAL characters to complete these trophies. You must find them all and recruit them in Year 1 and you must make sure they stay in your party through Act 3 otherwise you won't be able to find all the components to complete the trophy sets and will have to start over from Year 1.

This is the new name for the Varterral Hunting Grounds Cave from Year 2. For this secondary quest to be available, you either need to start a new game with any of the history options, or you have to import a save file from DA: O in which Zevran survived to the end of the game. If you have met these requirements, head to the Blooming Rose in Hightown and speak to Nuncio who is outside this fine establishment to receive this quest.
      • Boiled Leather Plates - Isabela: This can be found in the cave after meeting Zevran. This will give Isabela an Extra Rune Slot upgrade to her armor.

  • The Awiergan Scrolls: Second Aspect: After the Mountain Cave, head back to the Dalish Camp, and head up the path towards the Sundermount Cave. At the ruins on this path you can find this scroll behind one of the broken stone blocks. Once you have found the scroll, the Lair will be available past the Graveyard on the main path towards the top of the mountain.
    • Sundermount Caverns
      • Lyrium: From the entrance, look in the nook on the left hand side near the ravine before heading down the stairs to find this.
      • Orichalcum: Now head down the stairs and head through the doorway at the bottom. Take a quick left, and head into the the nook in the back of this room to find this ingredient.

  • Glitterdust: Head towards the top of the mountain, and on the last part of the path before you get to the top, head onto the small ledge that overlooks the path and you can find this in the same place you found the Pile of Bones that had the Rune of Lightning from Year 1
    • Pride's End - "A New Path"
You must complete "A Murder of Crows" before heading into Pride's End for this mission otherwise you will lose the opportunity to complete that mission.
This is the companion quest for Merrill in Year 3 and will become available once you have accepted the Best Served Cold main story quest. head to Merrill's House in the Alienage and she will ask for your help again. You can refuse and still get this quest if you are working on a Merrill rivalry. Once you have talked to her, head to the Dalish camp and talk to the Keeper, and again you can be rude and toss Merrill's under the bus with the Keeper and gain rivalry and not hurt the mission. Once you are finished you will be heading to the top of the mountain to the cave that has been previously blocked.
      • Felandris: This is located to the right of the Strange Idol.
      • Halla Horn Buckles - Merrill: This can be taken from Marethari's body after the battle. This will give Merrill an Extra Rune Slot upgrade to her armor.

  • The Awiergan Scrolls: Third Aspect: Now head back down the hill and head left through the Dalish Camp to head towards the exit. After you exit the camp, look on the right side of the area for this scroll. Once you find it, the lair will open up on the mountain path that heads towards Sundermount Cave at the ruins where you found the Second Aspect Scroll.

Wounded Coast
  • The Awiergan Scrolls: First Aspect: From the start of the area, head to the left down the main path and immediately take a left down the hill to find the scroll at the dead end. Once you have the scroll the lair will open up on the main path, just after the intersection that takes you down to the coast.
  • Elfroot: Now, head back to the main path and take a left. Continue down the main path and you will find this on the left hand side by a tree.
  • Formula: Fell Grenade: Continue down the path, and head past the intersection that goes down to the coast and you will find this in a crate sitting on the right side of the main path.
  • Embrium: Continue on the main path towards the exit on this side of the map. In the very last part of the path before the exit, there is a small nook on the left side of the path that contains this ingredient.

Deep Roads
For this secondary quest to be available, you must have selected either the "No Compromise" or " The Martyr" origins story at character build screen. If you chose to import a save file from DA: O, you must have imported a saved file from the Awakenings DLC, and Nathaniel must have been recruited and survived all the way to the end of the DLC. If you have met these requirements, you can find Delilah in Hightown near the entrance to the Chantry and she will give you this quest. Accepting this quest will open the Deep Roads location on your map again.
  • Drakeskin Leg Straps - Varric: At the end of the area, after the final battle against the horde of Darkspawn, this can be found in a chest in the area. This will give Varric an Extra Rune Slot upgrade to his armor.
