[top]Tips & Strategies

Friendship Leveling
Once you unlock a new character/pilot at Level 1 they will randomly show up to help you in battle. At Level 2 is where the grind begins. Select that character as a Partner and keep using Partner strikes often! The more you use your Partner the likelier the chances of them moving up a level. Once at Level 4 and you use the Partner Strike a few more times then head over to the Relationship Mission area and select that character's relationship mission, win it to reach Level 5 relationship ship with that character. Operators and a select few only move up when a character reaches Level 50, the mobile suit lab reaches Level 10, you compelte all history missions, and complete all missions.

Tech Leveling and Earning G
While playing missions destroy every mass produced mobile suit and every enemy ace you see! This will increase your chances of earning mobile suit plans. After the mission you will come to the mobile suit plan screen where you can select which plans you want. During the early stages of your game collect all the Rank 1 and Rank 2 plans. After you complete a few Memorial Missions and get further in the game you will unlock Rank 4 Plans. You need to find the best Rank 4 Plan that has the most upgrade slots (at the bottom of the Gundam pic). It will take some time but once you unlock the best Rank 4 plan with the most upgrade slots you will have the best mobile suit to upgrade. Keep developing multiple gundams and mobile suits until you reach level 10. Customizing your mobile suit with better weapons, armor, mobility, and special parts does not move the upgrade bar BUT will max out your suits potential. Need G? sell any left over mobile suits that are weaker, that is why it is best to develop new mobile suits instead of just making one of each time. The more mobile suits you make the more you can sell and keep developing.

Online
At first you will be Rank 20 and the enemies will be a push over. But once you keep moving up in the ranks the enemies get a little tougher but if you keep developing your mobile suit then enemies will remain non-problematic. When you reach higher ranks and want to earn the big buck quickly face off against the Dark Gundam with 2-3 other players. If you destroy one tentacle the Dark Gundam shuts off for a few seconds and is now the best time to attack. My average time was 17 seconds and was earning average of 10,000 G per run. The online is fun and fighting Mobile Armors (big ole sum bitches) will help you with earning G and also its needed for a Memorial Mission (destroy 20 of them). If you just want to boost then select Mission Twin Peaks, get 1 other person and die quickly.

Challenge Missions
The warning is being issued, these missions are hard and on HARD and do not attempt any of them until you have Rank 4 Mobile Suits completely maxed out. There are a few types of missions: ones where you play the normal mission with whatever mobile suit you want (prefer Knight Gundam, the most powerful), normal mission using a mass produced mobile suit, and fights against the mobile armor. Take these Hard mission slowly and use block often along side your Musou. The best way to complete these missions is to take down enemy aces and also slowly take over enemy areas. My personal preference was using Domon as a Pilot (200 melee at Level 50 yeah he packs a punch) and use the Knight Gundam fully upgraded with the following load out: 1. Harmonizer, 2. Shock Absorber, and 3. I-Field. You can also use the Hex Charge or Armor Gain. Pilot Skills should include Ace Pilot, Serene Mind, Moonrace or any skill that increases your attack, defense, and keeps you using Musuo.

[top]Roadmap

Missions and Pilot Building- I recommend completing the entire Tutorial because not only will this help you develop Amuro close to Pilot Level 20+, it will also give you a feel for the new features in DW: G3. Using Amuro and the Nu Gundam complete all story missions and whenever a "Memorial Mission" pops up do it immediately. Memorial Missions unlock next level Gundam Armors (Rank1 to Rank 2 to Rank 3 and Rank 4) and also new Pilot Skills. Especially Pilot Sense which gives you more XP. When you defeat enemy Aces or mass produced armors you will see above your character's head "Plans Acquired". This is important especially at the post mission screen. You will come across plans for various mobile suits. Keep all of them (you are allowed up to 4 of them) and when you return to the Story Mode Menu visit the Mobil Suit Lab. Develop the new plans (which will cost you a lot of G) and watch the Tech Level Grow which grants you access to new suits and also new techniques. You can also use older Rank plans into newer Rank plans to develop stronger suits. Amuro is the most likely candidate to reach Level 50 first because his mobile suit and his strengths make the "Those Who Understand" and "For Peace" mission much more easier to accomplish. Once Amuro has completed those two chapters move on to another Pilot and begin to complete the other chapters. You may develop any Pilot but realize that he maybe only available for certain chapter mission or History Missions. For the most part pick a pilot and when a Mobile Suit becomes available for use do so for 5 mission so you may buy the license for the mobile suit and then every pilot can use that mobile suit with the purchased license.

Online- The online is not duel based but rather mission based. It is a lot easier to find and host matches this time around. To find a match head to Online Mode then when the mission select screen is on hit , you are now in search mode and can find people who are hosting matches. You will know if someone is hosting a match in a particular mission when there is a picture of people on the right side of the mission title. For you to most then select a mission and then select Create. Set the pilots to whatever you want (I typically set it to 2 so its just me and one other person so I can start the mission quickly). Now the online is Rank based on the more missions you are a part of. You start at Rank 18 and when you complete more mission your Rank will decrease. Each online mission you are a part of make sure to at the least kill 10 mobile suits (score should read 10) because for a silver trophy you must destroy 1,000 enemies while playing online. So when going for the 100 mission killing 10 at least will net you the 1,000 kills quickly. You do not need to win the mission but you need to at least see the after action screen. The online is also an amazing place to earn G for buying stuff either in the store or for mobile suit development in the Mobile Suit Lab. On average for a completed mission you will earn 8,000-20,000.

Clean Up- At this point if you complete every mission and have been actively developing mobile suits you will have netted all of the trophies with the exception of some kill trophies or the Friendship trophy. Luckily, Friendship can never decrease. If you are missing a character, partner, or Operator then check the terminal for a message or check all the Story missions to make sure you did not miss a mission.

In summation you can bounce around from mission to mission, pilot to pilot but you must make sure you clear every mission and are making good efforts to increase your Mobile Suit Lab level.

[top]
Master Ace
Shoot down 10,000 enemies

This trophy will likely be your 2nd earned trophy especially since you have to eventually 100,000 kills. If you aim for 300+ kills per Story Mode mission then you will earn this early. You can check your kill count under "Records" in the Story Mode.

[top]
Legendary Master Ace
Shoot down 100,000 enemies

As the trophy description states you must shoot down 100,000. Now a shoot down is just a kill either using combos or combos so do not worry. It will take a while to reach 100,000 but with many mission requirements asking for 1,000 kills with particular mobile suits you will come across this sooner than you think.

[top]
Cross of Zeon
Exceed 100 plays

You will have to complete every mission in the game so reaching 100 plays will be easy. You can keep track in the Records portion of the Story Mode Menu.

[top]
Order of the Nebula
Exceed 200 plays

As stated above, you will have to complete every mission in the game so reaching 200 plays will come across naturally. You are allowed to repeat mission but there is no need to farm missions. You can keep track in the Records portions of the Story Mode Menu.

[top]
Bounty Hunter
Obtain more than 10,000 G

You must have 10,000 G in your possession at once (non-cumulative you must have the lump sum in your possession), to earn G you need to complete missions. To earn 10,000 G very quickly complete an Online mission to net anywhere from 8,000-18,000 in one mission.

Remember if you need a certain pilot use them as your Partner for a few missions and their Friendship will grow. Level 2 will allow the character to be used as a partner and Level 3 will allow the character to be selected as a usable pilot. True Dynasty Warrior Gundam
Clear all missions

Here is a complete listing of every mission and if any requirements are necessary to unlock I will include them. I will also describe how to finish the final mission and become the True Dynasty Warrior Gundam.

Relationship Missions - These will only unlock when a certain pilot or character has reached Friendship Level 4 and is ready to move up toe Friendship Level 5. It will take a grind to unlock the mission.

Friendship Missions - These missions will unlock over the course of playing Story Mode. These are great for helping grind Friendship Levels from 2 to 4.

History Missions - Relive important battles through all of the Gundam story lines. Some have requirements (certain pilots at Level 4 or complete X mission). Take some time to level those pilots that are needed to continue.

Collection Missions - These missions require you to perform certain tasks in order to unlock. I have left the requirements in ( ) to show you the best method to unlock the mission. For 1000 shot down just shoot down 1000 enemies for use Zaku II 20 times you need to start a mission with Zaku II, you do not need to win just start Challenge Mission, "Love....and Mobile Suits" and die quickly and repeat until that particular Collection Mission opens up.

Challenge Missions - All of these will be on hard and you will be using a set mobile suit in most of them. Check the Tips Section for more help.

Memorial Mission - You must complete these to unlock certain skills. Playing the game normally will net you all of these missions.

Return of the True Dynasty Warrior Gundam - Yup this dreaded mission makes a repeat but this time around we have the Knight Gundam and a good plan on how to approach this beast. First off you need a fully upgraded Rank 4 Knight Gundam. Give the Mobile Suit the Harmonizer (increase rate of Partner Strike), Shock Absorber (increase in SP gauge per hit), and I-Field (reduce projectile damage). Pick your Partner to either be Duo or Athrun because their Partner Strikes take up a large, circular area and do massive damage. I recommend using Domon as your pilot (if he is Level 50) because of his 200 melee and his decent Defense. For skills I would use Serene Mind (SP gauge always increases), Ace Pilot (attack and defense up), and Moonrace (temporary pilot status increases for every 50 enemies shot down). Notice when the battle begins there is a catapault aiming at you, well the goal here is to stay alive and just take down enemy areas. Do not engage enemy Aces unless you feel absolutely confident. Focus on taking down enemies and increasesing your Shot Down Count. Use your Musou attacks liberally. Once you take an area run to the next one. Keep whittling down the fields the gauge depletes and the you see the mission boss. Head over there and just unload on the boss to win. Do not worry about getting the fortresses since you will be under constant attack and it takes too long to take control. We want to take over as many areas because the enemy aces will then waste time focussing on taking over the areas from you. Here is a video to see what you are getting yourself into. thanks to azurelnnovator for the video

Demon of the Lab
Reach tech level 10 in the Mobile Suit lab

As stated in the Tips and Roadmap portions of this guide the only way to move the tech level towards Level 10 is to develop multiple mobile suit plans. In the beginning of your DW: G3 run you need to go ahead and accumulate as many plans early and develop them all. To earn plans keep killing everything that crosses your path, especially enemy Aces in Gundams! Do not worry about customizing them at this point just keep building to unlock better plans, skills, and mobile suits. Also, keep in mind when doing Memorial Missions if you complete all of them you gain access to unlocking Plan 3 and Plan 4 type suits. Once you have developed a ton of suits and are out of G sell some of the weaker duplicates and keep developing. When you reach Level 10 in the lab you will have our lab technician at Friendship Level 5.

Instructor from Hell
Raise any one character's pilot level to 50

The best way to earn a pilot to Level 50 is just play missions, there is not a grind to this and it happens pretty quickly. I personally had Amuro and Domon at Level 50 in no time. When you unlock the Pilot Skill, Pilot Sense, you are given additional EXP. Since you will need to be playing well over 350+ missions it will come with time reaching Level 50 with a pilot. Also, do not waste your money at the Training area.

Licensed to Ride
Obtain all licenses

To obtain a license for a particular mobile suit you must perform the following steps:

1. complete all story missions to unlock any mobile suit for use and obtain that mobile suit's plan;
2. now develop that mobile suit's plan in the mobile suit lab;
3. you must play as a particular pilot in order to use that mobile suit 5 times; and
4. purchase the license after you have piloted that mobile suit 5 times.

Here is the list of mobile suits and their pilots you must use 5 times in order to purchase their license. Any mission will do but I prefer you complete a mission that way you are earning G to purchase to license which run between 10,000 G to upwards of 30,000 G. If you are looking at the License Info Screen I go left to right for each of the three rows.

1. Musha Gundam - Complete Trials of the Giants 1-4 which are unlocked after Chapter: For Reform and going to the Challenge Missions tab.

2. Musha Gundam Mk. II - Complete Trials Come From the Past 1-9 which are unlocked after Chapter: For Reform and going to the Challenge Missions tab.

Purebred Innovator
Friendship level of all characters reaches level 5

Welcome to the primary grind in this game. Please read everything line by line and carefully to understand the Friendship Level system and how to move pilots up. During your Story Mode playthrough read all of the terminal messages to move the primary Gundam pilots and their enemies or friends from Level 1 to Level 2 to Level 3. Many of the secondary characters such as lovers or buddies will only become available when a primary Gundam pilot has reach Level 3 or Level 4 so keep that in mind. There are special characters and I will list who they are and how to raise them to level 5. Also, if a character is not moving from Level 4 to Level 5 stop using them as a partner and play as them for a couple of mission or use a new pilot with that partner. Frequently check the Relationship Mission statuses for a chance to move that person to Level 5.

Methods to Move Up Levels
Be aware once a character has reached a level they can not go back down. When a character reaches Level 2 they can be used as a partner and can be used as partner strikes. Use them in partner strikes very often (do not worry if its wasted it counts as a use). If a particular pilot is not your partner but you know they are a lesser level and you see them as an ally on the battlefield then perform a co-op musuo with them. You will know when to use your musou with a pilot when an electrical attachment is coming from both your pilot to the ally pilot. Playing Friendship missions does help to increase a group but you will be grinding that out a bit. It's better to use a Partner Strike a few times and rotate back and forth between a few of them until they reach Level 5 or Level 4 and unlock a Relationship mission. In summation Partner Strikes, Friendship missions, and co-op musou attacks are the truest method to incrase Friendship Levels.

Special Characters
The following characters can not be selected as Partners but will increase with level in conjunction with pilots from their Gundam series. (Example Relena is from Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and her Friendship Level will increase when Milliardo and Heero's Friendship Levels increase. Check terminal messages for their Friendship Level increases. Also, if you use them as a Operator you can help earn even more Friendship with other characters from that same series to move the lower level partner up.

Yes the best mobile suit is also a character. After you complete For Reform go to Special Missions and play "I am the Knight Gundam!" until he reaches Level 3 and then play "Hero of Lacroix". Continue to play until he reaches Level 5 and complete the mission "The Giant of Legend".

Completing all the Story Mode Missions and History Mode Missions will unlock the entire character gallery. The trophy will unlock once you finish both Story Mode and History Missions.

Mobile Suit Collector
Complete the Mobile Suit gallery

A mobile suit will show up in the gallery when you face it during any mission. In summation complete all Story and History missions you net you this one quickly except for the 2 Musha Gundams. But since you need to unlock the both of them complete all of the Challenge Missions required to unlock the final 2 gundams.

Sound Collector
Complete the sound gallery

The music is unlocked during missions, conversation, and its entirely random. But you have 80+ hours to enjoy so do not fret. I was able to unlock all of music (basically hear it through the stereo of my tv) by the time I finished roughly 60% of the game and around 250 missions.

Movie Collector
Complete the movie gallery

Playing through Story, History, and Challenge Mode will unlock all the movies for the gallery. Once you have completed the final mission you will have unlocked the final movie for the gallery. You do not need to watch the entire movie in order for it to unlock in the gallery.

Online Play 20
Play online 20 times

Pretty simple, play 20 online missions from Online Mode. You do not need to win but just participate in the mission.

Online Play 100
Play online 100 times

The most efficient way to play online 100 times is to select the "Twin Peaks" stage and Create a Match with only 1 other Pilot and 1 Private slot. Invite your booster (if you have one, if not then set Private Slot to 0). Once in the mission let the two large Psycho Gundam Armors destroy you. Now rinse and repeat.

Avenger
Shoot down 100 enemies online

Just start an online mission with 1 other person and start killing everything you see. Enemies keep showing up in the field until the enemy Ace is killed. The trophy will pop after the mission.

Fierce Avenger
Shoot down 1,000 enemies online

Since you must play 100 online missions it is not difficult to kill 1,000 enemies. A good method or something to keep in mind is always make sure to kill 10 enemies before you finish a mission.

Even if you are doing the "Twin Peaks" method, you can still quickly shoot down 10 enemies before the Psycho Gundams take you down.
