[top]Tips & Strategies

  • All trophies are in XMB order
  • After installing the DLC, just load up your game and much like Fallout 3 you will receive a radio transmission, which will give you a new mission and a marker on your map. Head to the marker to start the DLC.
  • The DLC will be available as a sidequest to your normal game missions. This being said, I recommend you wait until you are near the end of your game before taking on the DLC, as the enemies in the DLC are fairly strong. Your difficulty level doesn't matter for the DLC BUT if you are on your Hardcore run from the game, you will be on Hardcore on the DLC and if you change it, this will mess up your Hardcore run on your game. If you choose to do it on your HC playthrough make a second save, so you can turn off HC and enjoy the DLC while not messing up your HC run.
  • The cumulative trophies from the game, such as kills, healing, and hacks/lockpicks all count during the DLC towards the regular game trophies. If you are having trouble finding Hacking stations in the Wasteland, there are several on the DLC.
  • The DLC will raise your level cap up to 35. There is no trophy fro maxing out, BUT you will get new skill points on each level and have access to 2 extra perks at levels 32 and 34 to make your character stronger
  • You don't have to worry about dropping off your inventory to leave room for goodies. When you travel to the DLC you will wake up with nothing but a cheap outfit and will get your things back once you are finished with the DLC
  • There are some nice weapons you can bring back with you from the DLC such as the Bear Trap Fist. Make sure you collect enough of these to repair a nice quality weapon to use later.
  • You need to collect Sierra Madre Chips to use in the Vending Machines to buy food and Medicinal Items.
  • No matter how much you scheme you can't take all the gold out of the Vault >:F>:F I tried everything I can think of, and it is quite valuable. Over 10,000 in value per bar

Assemble Your Crew
Recruit Dean Domino, Christine and Dog.

This is a story based mission.

This is the very first group of missions in the game. In order to proceed you will need to find all three of them so there is no way to miss this trophy. Complete the following missions in any order for this trophy.

Find Collar 8 "Dog"
  1. Head to the Villa Police Station.
**You can do these missions in any order, BUT I suggest starting with Dog. He is very strong and can help you out a lot through the other missions and his Perk will help you avoid the many traps that are waiting in the buildings. From the fountain head to the left towards the Police Station. On your way, near one of the fountains, stop and pick up the Spear that lies under a skeleton. You will start with a Holorifle but to kill the Ghosts that attack, you will need to dismember them. Once you get to the Police Station, make sure you turn off the Ham Radios to stop your collar from beeping.
  2. Search basement of Police Station to free Dog.
**Head to the back left of the Police Station and you will find the stairs that lead down to the basement. Once there follow the path until you find the Holotape to play for Dog.
  3. Play Audio Log near Dog's cell
  4. Recruit Dog
**After playing the Holotape, follow the conversation with Dog, which is easier of you have good Speech, and Science skills until you convince him to join you .

Find Collar 14 Dean Domino
  1. Find Dean Domino in the Residential District.
**From the main fountain, head to the right side until you come to the door that leads to the Residential District. Once there navigate through the streets to the end of the path and up into the building and take a seat next to Dean.
  2. Recruit Dean Domino.
**Follow the conversation with Dean, again easier if your Science skill is high enough, until you have convinced Dean to join you. Once he does have him meet you at the fountain.

Find Collar 12 Christine
  1. Find Christine in the Clinic in the Medical District.
**From the main fountain, head to the left and through the door to the Medical District. Once you are there, follow the path around until you come to the building with the BIG green cross above the entrance which is the Clinic
  2. Shut off power in the basement to the shielded speakers.
**This is optional, but will definitely make your task easier. Inside the Clinic you will have your first encounter Security Holograms. They can't be killed so don't even bother, but you can use the Terminal next to the door to make them patrol upstairs. Next head down the hallway to your right. At your first intersection, if you head to the left and all the way down and around the corner you will find Christine inside the broken AutoDoc machine in the last room on the right. You will have to be quick if you don't turn off the speakers. Now if you have a Lockpick 75 or higher you can pick the Hard Lock on the door that leads to the basement at the end of the first hallway. Then head to the end of the basement hallway and turn off the speakers to make your job easier..
  3. Recruit Christine.
**Once you unleash Christine from the machine, simply convince her to come with you and once she does the trophy will unlock.

Cash Out
Confront Father Elijah in the Sierra Madre's Vault.

This is a story based trophy.

Once you have finally completed all the missions inside the Casino, you will finally gain access to the Casino Vault. Once you get to the vault, do all your pillaging first, then make a manual save. Next, use the main terminal to read the message to Vera. At this point you will have access to some different options. First, you can open the private records which will include a message to Dean Domino, but be warned, Doing this will cause the door to lock shut and the game will end for one of the endings and no trophy for you!! The game should AutoSave when you first use the terminal and should reload their, BUT IF NOT, we have our manual save to protect us.

Now that you have reloaded, only open the message to Vera, then exit out and Father Elijah will come onto the screen in front of you. Now you want to taunt him into coming down in person, and remember the one thing he wants more than anything is to see whats in the Vault. If you have a Science 75 or higher this actually pretty easy, but if not I'm sure it won't take much. Once he says he is coming down, you will have two choices, each leading to a trophy. In this we will go over the Cash Out plan. Wait INSIDE the vault by the door until you can actually see him outside on your radar then run outside and take him out quickly before he runs off. The reason we wait in the vault is because, if he sees you outside, he will run off and you will get trapped in the vault area while he is behind the force field doors and you won't have anyway to kill him. He is actually very easy, only took me 5-6 punches with my Bear Trap Fist and he was done. Once he is finished backtrack through the facility and get to the elevator BEFORE your neck collar blows up. If you do this, the mission will end and the trophy will unlock.

ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS RELOAD YOUR AUTO OR MANUAL SAVE THAT TAKES PLACE BEFORE THE VAULT TERMINAL CONVERSATION TO GET THE SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX TROPHY. DO NOT HEAD OUT OF THE MAIN GATES UNTIL YOU HAVE BOTH TROPHIES!

Having a Ball
Complete the Sierra Madre Gala Event.

This is a story based mission.

This will be the second batch of missions after putting your team together. You will need to take your team one at a time and put them into position to kickoff the gala for the Casino that will get the doors to open. For this trophy complete these missions.

Fires in the Sky
  1. Speak to Elijah at fountain.
  2. Get Dog to Switching Substation in Salida Del Sol.
**You will encounter much more opposition in this set of missions, but as long as you have a nice supply of Stimpaks it isn't anything you can't handle. Salida Del Sol is at the end of the street to the right of the main fountain. Once there head to the marker on your map and use the terminal outside to reset all the switches so they are ready to use.
  3. Get Dog to wait
**Once Dog joins you, talk with him and you will have a couple choices. You can try and trick him into staying, you can lock him in, or the most obvious path is get him some food to keep him happy. .
  4. Get two slabs of Harvester remains
**If you choose to get him food, the enemies will respawn. The only ghosts I ran into in the district after that were Harvesters so that might be a part of the respawn. Once you have killed two Harvesters, search them nd grab their meat and once you have two of them head back and give them to Dog to complete the mission.

Mixed Signals
  1. Go to Puesta Del Sol switch station with Christine.
**Grab Christine from the main fountain and head to the left to get to Puesta Del Sol. I suggest equipping Christine with some armor to help her out and some type of weapon.
  2. Repair Electrical Box.
**Once in the Station, you will need to repair the Electrical box to get the door to open. You will need either 3 Electrical Fuses which can be found around the district, OR if you have a Repair 60 you can repair the box without the fuses. If you don't but are within 10, there is a Fixin' Things magazine on top of the computer to the left of the door which will momentarily give you a +10 boost to your Repair Skill.
  3. Get Christine to the elevator that leads to the override chamber.
**After repairing the box, navigate around the station which will involve heading down into the poisonous gas on occasions, until your each the elevator near the end of the second large area. Also watch your health and listen for the lovely beeping of your collar as there are several speaker traps in the station.
  4. Get Christine to the Maintenance Terminal.
**On a desk by the elevator, their will be a computer terminal. You can transfer all controls to this terminal, then tell Christine she will be safe there and can handle all the controls without having to go down into the basement.

Strikes Up the Band
  1. Get Dean to Puesta Del Sol rooftop.
**Head back to the fountain one final time to grab a companion. Once you have Dean head back to the left and back to Puesta to the marker indicated on your map.
  2. Turn on both Security Holograms.
**Once you get to the rooftop, Dean will get fussy and wont stay there without you turning on the holograms since he is scared. From the rooftop head to the left and you will find the first terminal that turns on the first Hologram down the stairs. Fro the second one, you will need to head back the way you came to the Gift Shop. Once there head up the stairs and head out on the balcony to find a path to the second computer terminal.
  3. Get Dean into position.
**After turning on both holograms, head back to the rooftop with Dean and he can be convinced to stay and do his part.

Trigger the Gala Event
  1. Get to the Gala event Control Panel in the Belltower in Salida Del Sol North
**Head back to the right from the main fountain to Salida Del Sol, then continue on until you get to the North section. Once there navigate through the streets and rooftops until you come across the Belltower. Climb to the top, then use the controls and the Gala will start and the trophy will unlock.

Safety Deposit Box
Trap Father Elijah in the Sierra Madre's Vault.

If you have a Science 75 or higher this actually pretty easy, but if not I'm sure it won't take much. Once he says he is coming down, you will have two choices, each leading to a trophy. In this we will go over the Safety Deposit Box plan. As soon as he says he is coming down, head out of the vault and then head to the left and retrace your steps back through facility. If he sees you AT ALL, the plan won't work. Once you are back to the beginning, he should get locked inside, and the countdown for you to get to the elevator will start. You don't have to do all this backtracking if you just find a good place to hide, but it seemed easier to me since he would see me even when I was ducked behind walls. Once you get to the top the mission will end and trophy will unlock.

ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS RELOAD YOUR AUTO OR MANUAL SAVE THAT TAKES PLACE BEFORE THE VAULT TERMINAL CONVERSATION TO GET THE CASH OUT TROPHY. DO NOT HEAD OUT OF THE MAIN GATES UNTIL YOU HAVE BOTH TROPHIES!

Sierra Souvenir Aficionado
Collect 500 Sierra Madre Chips.

Sierra Madre Chips are the official currency of the casino. This sounds like a collectible hunt but it really isn't. In the very first area, after listening to Father Elijah, search the fountain to see what the chips look like. Now that you have done that, check in every large fountain, and smaller side fountain you find. Also check dressers, nightstands, suitcases and especially Cash Registers for these chips. You can also sell Cartons and Packs of Cigarettes at the vending machines for chips. As long as you always check for them you will have no problem with this trophy. Pretty much the only way you can miss this would be to go out of your way to miss it. I was able to complete this trophy Before I had even completed the first group of missions that gathers your crew. If you are already at the Casino and still haven't got the trophy for some reason, there is a suitcase in a room down the hall from where you find Christine that contains over 350 chips inside on a bed.

Don't think of this as merely a silly trophy and stop collecting them once you get your fill. The Chips can be spent at the vending machines for food and most importantly medical supplies such as Stimpaks to keep you alive during your quest. You will have an onscreen challenge notification pop-up every time you collect 25-50 of the chips and once you get 500 you will get some exp for finishing the challenge and the trophy will unlock. Instead of having to search all around the DLC to find the chips, you can go find the Sierra Madre Snow Globe. Once you pick it up, it will give you 2000 Sierra Madre chips and the trophy right off the bat.

Here's a video of it's location in Salida del Sol North:

Also in the description of the video it seems the Snow Globe can only be found at a certain part in the questline. I can't confirm whether or not this is true. This is apparently when you start the Gala Event and you are supposed to make your way to the Casino.
