[top]Tips & Strategies

- Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a very over the top shooter, and there is no reason to pressure yourself with tougher difficulties. Pick Easy and let the game whisk you away into the far off future of 2007.

- Instead of XP you earn CP, but they're the same thing. Also, instead of having to buy skills with the CP you earn, you unlock everything automatically through leveling. Exercise big CP payoffs such as headshots, takedowns, and stealth kills.

- Loot everything you possibly can. Bodies, boxes, you name it. You'll need the credits to purchase everything you need, so don't be shy to pilfer just about everything in your way.

- Stat tracking. Everything you need to know and all of your progress is kept track in the Data Console. If you're ever curious to know what you need at a certain point, simply pause the game and poke through all the various statistics.

- Garrison Reset (Patch v1.05 - Single Player: Ability to Reset Outposts) Any XP or money you need can be earned though using the Reset Outposts option granted through the v1.05 patch.

Ubisoft - "Here is how it works: After conquering all the outposts and completing the game, the player can reset the outposts by selecting “Reset Outposts” in the gameplay options menu.

Doing this will reset and make all Outposts hostile again. All incomplete side missions and quests will become hidden. In order to finish the incomplete side missions, you will have to retake the outposts again."

Murder Nature
Kill all the Animal Types

Blood Dragon has more than a dozen types of animals running or swimming around but it only counts a fraction of them for this trophy. Every animal listed below can be easily found and hunted on the island unless other wise noted. Even then, those animals are apart of a Predator's Path missions and aren't very easy to miss. Some are in areas indicated on the Map where the particular animal shape is present, so exploring is key, but shouldn't take very long to amass every animal on this list.

Robo-Croc (Found in the sewers during the Pretator's Path mission 'Turtle Killer'.)
Mutant Buffalo
Devil Goat
Mutated Cassowary
Mutated Turtle (Found during the Pretator's Path mission 'Turtle Killer'.)
Robo-Dog

Cyber Shark
Cyber Panther
Neon Snakes
Boar
Black & White Tiger

Set Them Free
Destroy 5 Braincages

Braincages are devices that are fashioned to the heads of Blood Dragons in order to control them. They first appear in the mission What Is This Shit? and contains a large amount of Dragons with them on. Simply shooting them off before killing the Dragon will count toward this trophy and you should have no issue not getting this before the mission is completed.

If so happens you do miss it in that mission, there are a few Braincaged Dragons in the final mission of the game, I Must Break You.

Just the Tip
Kill a Dragon with the Bow

Blood Dragons are the toughest enemies in the game. Hell, it's the only animal that shows you its health in the top right hand corner of the screen when you're near it. On top of that arrows from your bow do absolutely jack in terms of damaging them. Much like the video below, it's much, much easier to weaken the beast with other weapons, and just when it's health is barely even visible in its bar, that's when you can start pelting the thing with your arsenal of archery.

Kill 25 Dragons

Once you've found or lured a Dragon with a Cyber-Heart, you'll find that they are pretty tough, but they are no means invincible. Having a good upgraded weapon is on thing, but it can still feel like you're wasting ammo if you're just blasting away crazily. The key to killing a Blood Dragon quickly is hitting that glowing pink spot on their chests. Nailing that weak area is absolutely devastating to them, even with a mediocre weapon loadout. Better yet, beat the campaign and use the amazing Killstar to zap them into an oblivion.

To keep track, all Dragons killed will be counted in the Kills section of your statistics in the Data Console.

What are You Reading For?
Find all of Dr. Carlyle's Notes

The island Blood Dragon takes place on is sectioned into quadrants; Northeast, Northwest, Southeast and Southwest. Once you take over a Garrison in one of those areas, a Map Scan floppy disk will be available in the Shop.

There are four scans in total for the corresponding parts of the island, and coast a whopping $500 a piece. Once purchased, every collectible in the game will show up on your main map. Simply press Select to view, and everything will be spelled out for you. Now all you have left is footwork, so go out there and snatch up all of 10 of Dr. Carlyle's Notes, 32 TV's, and 12 VHS tapes.

Like everything else in the game, collectibles are tracked in the Data Console in the pause menu.

Hail to the King
Reach Maximum Level and Become the Ultimate Badass

The maximum level to achieve in Blood Dragon is 30. After covering everything there is to do on the island, there is next to no way you can miss this. Utilizing takedowns, headshots, dragons kills, and collecting all the bits around adds up to more than enough to fill this quota. Simply just play the game and level up as this should come naturally.

[top]
Running Man
After saving Darling, enter Combat Mode with a Dragon and Return to Stealth

At first, I and a few others thought this was glitched because it popped in seemingly random times, but in reality the description is a tad bit misleading in a way. Where the confusion lies is the rescue bit. In reality you need to engage a dragon after you've met with Dr Darling during the first mission of the game and completed the first Garrison.

After that enter Combat Mode by running around or just attacking a dragon and it will turn bright red. Then make the dragon disinterested in you so you can return to stealth mode, where it will turn back to bright green. You can go by this by throwing a cyber-heart to divert its attention while you hide, or simply finding a good bit of cover to hide behind.

It should also work just by running away from the dragon, which would explain it why the trophy popped for some folks when they were just going about their way. Accidentally alerting a dragon and escaping was the culprit here.

Own all Weapons Attachments

In Blood Dragon you're given one set of weapons (awesome ones at that). Each weapon has it's own attachments so you can you can customize your loadout as you see fit. Before you're able to purchase them, they must be unlocked by completing Hostage Rescues, Predator's Path Missions, gathering collectibles, and hunting the island's various cyber animals. All of the requirements are spelled out in the Store. Simply hover over the attachment you'd like and the required duty to unlock it given to you.

Jump Down from 50 Meters

One of the many great things featured in Blood Dragon is the absence of fall damage. This makes traversing the treacherous landscape a breeze and gives you way more options in terms moving about. Here, all you have to do is capitalize on it and basically throw yourself off a tall cliff-side or hilltop and stick the landing. You can even take advantage of the numerous Omega branded hang gliders by taking a short ride and falling from the sky.

The video below gives an example on the Dam located on the west part of the island, which is featured in a mission early on in the campaign.

Missable!

Though there are four types of enemies that can be registered in your visor, there are still a few different kinds;

Cyborg Close Range w/Shotgun
Cyborg Close Range w/Molotovs
Cyborg Snipers
Cyborg Heavy
Cyborg Flamethrower
Running Dead w/Cyber Machete
Running Dead w/Shotgun
Running Dead w/Molotovs

If you are a little diligent and go for headshots whenever you see someone new, or just going for the points in general, you will get this in the mission Summon The Plague.
