[top]Tips and Strategies

  • SAVE OFTEN! The game does NOT have an Autosave feature, so if you happen to die you will have to continue from your last save point
  • Unlike other FF games, you will not need to worry about Weapons or Armor to purchase. All the weapons and armor are set for each Dressphere so you will only need to spend your Gil on Accessories and Items.
  • The White Mage is really only effective for healing your party outside of battle.
  • During battle, your Alchemist should be your primary healer as she will be able to heal the entire party at once AND attack.
  • Keep a large stock of Potions, Phoenix Downs and Hi-Potions with you at all times so your Alchemist can mix Mega-Potions and Mega-Phoenixes
  • Early on in the game, your most effective Dressphere setup will be with 2 Dark Knights and an Alchemist. Use the Dark Knight's Darkness ability to cause major damage on all enemies in the battle and then use the Alchemist to heal them both with a Mega-Potion.
  • DO NOT bother to dig for items in the desert until AFTER you have defeated Experiment the first time in Chapter 5, EXCEPT for the one time you have to dig during the main missions of the game.
  • Work on catching Chocobos and raising their levels up to level 5 as soon as you can while playing otherwise you will have a long boring grind to finish getting the Amazing Chocobo in Chapter 5.

[top]New Game+ Mode

Once you have finished the Main Story of the game, you can replay the game using NG+ mode and continue your next playthrough with several things carried over from your first playthrough. This is essential if you missed something or mad a mistake while trying to get the 100% story completion from your first playthrough.

What Carries Over in NG+
  • All Dresspheres that you have collected
  • All Abilities that were unlocked for your Dresspheres
  • All Items collected
  • All Accessories collected
  • All Gil Earned
  • All entries into Shinra's Bestiary
  • All Fiend Arena Tournament progress
  • All Fiends you have trapped
  • Al Bhed Primers Collected
  • Story Completion %

What Does NOT Carry Over in NG+
  • Character Level - You have to restart at level 1
  • Character Stats - These reset to level 1
  • Chocobos you've captured and Chocobo raising progress

[top]AP Farming Tips from Gauss

This section includes tips on AP and character building from Gauss. If this helps you out, be sure to stop by his profile and thank him or toss him some juicy Rep

A quick way of farming AP is to repeatedly do actions in battle that don't harm the enemy (or harm them very little). If they are successful, you gain a point. By doing this, its easy to master certain Dresspheres quickly.

My (confirmed) list
  • Sentinel for Warrior
  • Pray for White Mage (if it heals)
  • Any song for Songstress
  • Target MP for Gunner (if the target has MP)
  • Borrowed Time for Thief (or Pilfer MP if the target has MP)
  • MP Absorb for Black Mage (if the target has MP, Focus only lands once unfortunately)
  • Tantalize for Lady Luck
  • Any of the item abilities for Alchemist (if they land)
  • Spare Change of 1 for Samurai (by the time you get this sphere, 1 damage is meaningless)

Still experimenting
  • Scan for Gun Mage
  • Luck for Lady Luck
  • Anything for the Trainer
  • Anything for Berserker
  • Anything for Dark Knight
  • Anything for Mascot

Success in this case means the action implied by the ability happened. For example, a healing action must heal at least 1 HP, a damaging action must deal at least 1 damage, a buff must actually apply the buff, and a debuff must actually apply the debuff. Obviously this means certain combinations shouldn't be used (i.e. Thief and Lady Luck or Gunner and Black Mage) to farm AP. If you set your cursor to memory, this almost becomes mind-numbing by just holding down the "X" button (or leaving something on your controller ). Each battle has a hidden cap of 99 AP, so you do have to finish the battle and enter another one every so often.

[top]Operation: Monkey!

Operation Monkey! takes place in Chapter 2 and is necessary for game completion. Head to Zanarkand in Chapter 2 and head towards the dome in the ruins and you can find Isaaru inside. Talk to him and he will tell you about the monkeys that are starting to overrun the area. Your job will be to help facilitate this process by matching monkeys that fall in love with each other so they can make even more monkeys. You will need to find a monkey with hearts over its head to see who is ready for love, and then you will need to find what monkey it is in love with by matching it with a monkey of a similar name in the area. Use the handy chart below to make this quicker and math the monkeys on the left with the monkeys on the right.

[top]The Great Mi'ihen Mystery

The Great Mi'ihen Mystery is something that must be completed to gain 100% completion in the game. This will start as early as Chapter 1 for some of the characters, so make sure you take a look below to see what you will need to do to complete this. Not all of the characters will give you 100% completion if they are the Culprit!! You can only have one Culprit so choose wisely. If you follow the 100% completion walkthrough in the Sweet Perfection trophy, you will already be setup for Rikku to be the culprit for the first 3 chapters of the game which will give you 100% completion. You must complete each chapter of the investigation until Rin tells you that you are "getting closer to the heart of the matter" before moving on the the next part of the investigation. You will need to complete a certain amount of events with one character before the game will move to the next part of the investigation.
Rikku
  • Investigation 1: 2
  • Investigation 2: 2
  • Investigation 3: 2
Calli
  • Investigation 1: 3
  • Investigation 2: 3

  • Investigation 1: 3
  • Investigation 2: 3
  • Investigation 3: 2

  • Investigation 1: 3
  • Investigation 2: 4

At each location, press the to call Rin to investigate the things that you find in the chart below to get credit for them. Once you have completed the 3rd investigation, Rin tells you have enough evidence and you will find out who the Culprit is in Chapter 5 and get an Episode Complete. If you fail to complete all the investigations, you will only get an Episode Concluded on Chapter 5 for the Mi'ihen Highroad and will NOT be able to get an Episode Complete without another playthrough

[top]Fiend Arena Tournaments

The Fiend Arena, can be accessed by talking to Shinra on the bridge of the Celsius and heading into the Creature Creator submenu. You will first have access to the Standard Cup and you can unlock new tournaments by completing certain prerequisites in the tournaments by winning. There are some excellent prizes for winning the tournaments including Dresspheres and powerful Accessories. I recommend waiting until you are near the end of the game to work on this as the harder cups can be quite challenging with some very powerful enemies. You won't need to worry about healing after every battle or reviving as everyone is restored at the end of each battle.
  • Tournament Name: Standard Cup
  • Prerequisite: None
  • Special Rewards: Psychic Dressphere
  • Strategies: You wont really need much strategy for the beginning tournament as the enemies are very weak. If you decide to try and complete this in the first couple chapters of the game, you will have a much more difficult time even with the basic enemies.

  • Tournament Name: Standard Cup: Hard
  • Prerequisite: Win Standard Cup three times
  • Special Rewards: Intrepid Garment Grid - 3 Victories
  • Strategies: The enemies get a tad stronger in this tournament, but still nothing worth worrying over.

  • Tournament Name: Grand Cup
  • Prerequisite: Win Standard Cup: Hard
  • Special Rewards: None
  • Strategies: The enemies start to get more difficult in this tournament. I recommend waiting until you have the Cat Nip accessory so that you can make quick work of the Protean Gels that are in this group as they are very powerful and immune to almost everything unless you know exactly what barrier is their weakness. If you don't have the Cat Nip accessory, you should keep a Gun Mage with you at all times in case you encounter one in a match.

  • Tournament Name: Grand Cup: Hard
  • Prerequisite: Win Grand Cup three times
  • Special Rewards: Abominable Garment Grid - 1 Victory, Festivalist Dressphere - 3 Victories
  • Strategies: This is where the Tournaments start to get difficult. There are some fairly difficult enemies in these tournaments but nothing your Cat Nip/Thief combo can't handle with the exception of the Mega Tonberry. The Mega Tonberry, wouldn't be so difficult if it wasn't for rehealing at the end of each fight causing you to have to waste turns to get your Thief into berserk mode for the Cat Nip to work right. Even with a little luck you will find that you won't have enough time to get enough hits in with your Thief to take him down before he defeats you. You can counter this by using an Adamantite on your strongest Character. Even with the Adamantite, the Mega Ton can still take down a couple thousand HP with each Chef's Knife so make sure you have maxed HP before the battle and work fast to take him out with your Catnip/Thief.

The downside to this setup for the Mega Ton, is that it makes it almost impossible to take down the Shady Duo. Between the Black Element and the Mushroom Cloud both casting Ultima at you, it is almost impossible to be fast enough to win this fight with the added slow on your Adamantite character. You can defend against the Petrification attack of the Mushroom Cloud, but unless you go into the battle with a Songstress and Magical Masque on every round it is very hard to win this battle. You can defeat the pair with Ribbons and a Catnip/Thief combo without the Adamantite and relying on speed to win but it is mostly the luck of the draw with the chance of Ultima getting cast on you.

It seems the more victories you get into this tournament the more your odds are increased to face one of these two before the end of the tournament. When i won the first couple times I never faced them at all, and by the time I was going for my 6th victory I was up against one or both of them every single time I tried the tournament

  • Tournament Name: Chocobo Cup
  • Prerequisite: Defeat the Chocobo Representative in battle when he appears in the Grand Cup: Hard Tournament. You will also need a Chocobo in your team to enter the Cup
  • Special Rewards: None

  • Tournament Name: Cactuar Cup
  • Prerequisite: Defeat the Cactuar Representative in battle when he appears in the Grand Cup: Hard Tournament. You will also need a Cactuar in your team to enter the Cup
  • Special Rewards: None

  • Tournament Name: Youth League Tournament
  • Prerequisite: Win the Grand Cup: Hard 6 times
  • Special Rewards: Mascot Dressphere
  • Strategies: This isn't a very hard Tournament, especially if you were able to unlock it. You will be facing off against all the members of the Youth League, Elma, Baralai, Gippal, etc. They all have the same attacks that they had during the game if you have already faced them, except they are much more powerful. You should be able to defeat them with your Thief/Cat Nip combo and in this Tournament on your first try.

Dressed for the Occasion
Change Dresspheres on Yuna, Rikku, and Paine in one battle

Quite possible the easiest trophy to unlock in the game and one that you can unlock any time you feel like it. To change Dresspheres during battle, simply press the to pull up your garment grid, then select the Dressphere you want to change to and press the to confirm your selection. As soon as you have control of Yuna, Rikku and Paine after the early stages of the game, simply change Dresspheres on all 3 of them during the same battle and the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Specialty
Obtain one special dress

There are a total of 3 "Special" Dresspheres that you can acquire in the game, one each for YRP. The Special Dresspheres will turn our girls into an extremely powerful character to use during battle. When you use one of these Dresspheres, the other two girls of your party will leave and you will control the three parts of the Special Dressphere during combat. To change into one of these, you will need to change into each Dressphere on the Garment Grid you currently have equipped for the girl you want to change into the Special Dressphere. Once you have done that, press the again to bring up the Garment Grid, then press the to bring up the option for the Special Dressphere and you can change into it. The first opportunity you have to unlock this trophy is in Chapter 1, and if you miss that you have two chances in Chapter 2.

You do NOT need to change into the Special Dressphere to unlock this trophy, you simply need to acquire the Dressphere.
  • Full Throttle Special Dressphere: This is available in Macalania Woods during Chapter 1. Head to the spring near the exit to O'aka's Shop and look for Tromell in the back of the spring. Talk to him 4 times and he will give this to you.
  • Floral Fallal Special Dressphere:You can find this at the Djose Temple in Chapter 2. From the Temple, head south down the road to the next area. At the intersection you will overhear a couple Fem Goons near a hover talking about a Dressphere they dropped. Continue down the road and you will find this near the right side.
  • Machina Maw Special Dressphere:This can be found in Chapter 2 at Bikanel Desert. Talk to the pilot twice and head to the Oasis. Head down to the shore of the Oasis and you will find this in the sand.

Good Listener
Listen to all of Maechen's stories

Maechen, is an old man that appears from time to time throughout the game in random areas. When you talk to Maechen, you will have the option to hear about Spira's past. For this trophy you will always need to answer with a "yes" and he will start to tell you a looooooooooong story. To complete this trophy, you will need to find and speak to him everytime you see him AND most importantly, you will need to listen to everything he has to say WITHOUT interrupting him at all. If you press any buttons to skip forward in his story and interrupt him at all, you will not receive this trophy.

Chapter 1 - Mushroom Rock Road
Maechen first appears just outside the Youth League HQ at Mushroom Rock Road. After you have completed the quest through the fog, you will find yourself at the HQ. You can find Maechen sitting on the right side of the HQ area. When you talk to him he will tell you his story and you will have an option of "Please go on" that will pop up on the screen. Only choose this option if he stops talking and just sits there. If you press this option while he is telling his story it will interrupt the story and you won't get credit. Once he has finished, be sure to shake his hand to get full credit

Chapter 3 - Guadosalam
During Chapter 3, head to Guadosalam and head back to Leblanc's Chateau from the previous chapter. Once you are here, head into the living room and talk to Ormi and Logos, then go upstairs to talk to Leblanc in her room. After listening to her whine :stare: head back down and talk to Ormi and Logos again. NOW head through the back of the room and head back to Logos' room int he secret tunnels. After you have watched their personal spheres, head to the back of the room and watch the Gaol Sphere and Maechen will sneak into the room. Once you have control of Yuna again, talk to Maechen and listen to the next part of his story.

Chapter 4 - Mt. Gagazet Hot Springs Commsphere
While viewing through all the Commsphere scenes at Mt. Gagazet, their will be a scene of Maechen giving a history lesson to a monkey.

Chapter 5 - Zanarkand Ruins
Head to the Ruins and head up to the Save Sphere and watch the Episode Complete! scene. Afterwards, head back down to the surface and you can find Maechen standing near the Save Sphere. Listen to his final story and you will receive the trophy afterwards.

[top]
Tricky Trapper
Help Clasko catch a chocobo by the end of Chapter 3

There are several steps involved to unlock this trophy, but once you have completed them, catching a Chocobo for the trophy is fairly easy.
  1. Chapter 1 - Mushroom Rock Road: After accepting the mission to destroy the fiends on the road from Yaibal, talk to Clasko who is standing nearby and then continue your mission. After you have completed the mission and completed your tasks at the Youth League HQ, head all the way back to towards the beginning of the area and you will find Clasko near the edge of the ravine by the Save Sphere on the main path. talk to him and allow him to come aboard the Celsius to start this mission.
  2. Chapter 2 - The Calm Lands: When you first enter the Calm Lands with Clasko on board, he will run off through the Calm Lands to chase his dreams. Follow him and you'll receive a side mission to clear out all the fiends in what will become his Chocobo Ranch. Inside the building you will find regular fiends, but not all of them will be real. There are some illusions here and if you pick the illusions 3 times, you will have to start over. To find the correct fiend, simply look for the one that is facing a different direction than all the other fiends. You must defeat 5 fiends inside the building to complete this mission.
  3. Chapter 2-3 - The Calm Lands: AFTER you have cleared out the Fiends from the Chocobo Ranch, and completed the mission, head back inside and talk to Clasko and he will give you a pile of Greens that you can use to catch Chocobos.

Now that you have your Gysahl Greens, I recommend rearranging your items so that the Greens are somewhere close to the top of the item list for quick finding. Now continue playing and pay attention for a wild Chocobo to appear in a battle. There are a total of 6 locations where a Chocobo will never randomly spawn in a battle and those are:
  • Bevelle
  • Lake Macalania
  • Mi'ihen Highroad
  • Mt. Gagazet
  • Mushroom Rock Road
  • Zanarkand Ruins

Once a Chocobo appears in battle, you will first need to distract it by heading into your Items screen and giving it a Gysahl Green. Once you have done that, you need to very carefully take out all the enemies in the battle. Use only attacks that will only hit a single enemy and be careful not to have everyone attacking in quick succession as if you hit the Chocobo at all, he will run away. Once you have defeated the remaining enemies, feed the Chocobo another Gysahl Green and you will catch him. As long as you do this before the end of the 3rd chapter the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Zeroed Out
Defeat YSLS-Zero

This is a Story Based Trophy

YSLS-Zero
YSLS-ZERO can be found at the end of Chapter 1. When you reach Kilika Island, move your way through the village and get past all the guards in the forest to reach the Temple. At the beginning of the Temple, YSLS will attack you. As long as you have been fighting regularly, you shouldn't have too much of an issue against YSLS as he only has about 1900 HP. He DOES have some very strong physical attacks that can cause over 100 HP of damage with a single hit, so be sure to keep a White Mage active to cure your party if you need it. During the battle, depending on what type of Dressphere path you took to level up you characters during Chapter 1, I recommend using your Black Mage with your strongest spells to make quick work of the enemy. If you haven't been using your Black Mage, you can use the Mech Destroyer ability of the Gun Mage to take him down quickly. Finally the YSLS is weak against Darkness, so if you want to make this easy, use your Songstress and Darkness Dance to prevent damage while you take him out with your Black Mage or Gun Mage

[top]
Defeating an Old Friend
Defeat Bahamut

This is a Story Based Trophy

Bahamut
You will encounter Bahamut at the end of Chapter 2, inside the tunnels of Bevelle. Fortunately, Bahamut isn't as tough as he probably should be as long as you have been participating in frequent battles and not running from everything. Bahamut, doesn't really have any weaknesses, so simply head into the battle with your normal lineup and use your strongest physical attacks and either a White Mage or Alchemist on hand to heal your party. Bahamut has a couple fairly strong attacks that he uses , the most powerful of which will be Mega Flare which will take place at the end of the countdown. Make sure you use a turn to heal before the countdown ends and this attack most likely won't even KO any of your characters. Bahamut only has about 8400 HP so this battle shouldn't last very long.

[top]
Dousing the Fire
Defeat Zalamander

This is a Story Based Trophy

Zalamander
You will encounter Zalamander at the end of Chapter 4, inside the secret cavern in the Thunder Plains. You can make quick work of Zalamander with just a few minor adjustments. You need to use Physical Attacks only on the Zalamander as he is immune to all magic attacks so leave your Black Mage for now and use your strongest characters. Bring either a White Mage or Alchemist for healing, I recommend the Alchemist so you can also use her for attacking in between healing. Also, equip items that have Fire protection abilities such as the Red Ring, Crimson Ring and NulBlaze Ring to protect against the Flame Breath attack. The Zalamander only has 12,850 HP so he won't last very long with strong physical attacks.

[top]
Sphere Breaker
Win 10 times at Sphere Break

Your first chance to play Sphere Break will be in Chapter 3 in Luca. You can only find other players for Sphere Break in Luca and I found that there are several in the hallways underneath the Blitzball Dome that you can play against. Once you get the hang of Sphere Break, you will find it's quite simple to win. You will have four golden spheres with numbers in the middle that are your Fixed Numbers. These numbers wont change during the match and they won't go away. Inside those four numbers, right in the middle, is the Core Sphere. This is the key number for the game. The outside numbers in blue will disappear when you use them and then reappear after a short while.

The goal of Sphere Break, is to combine the Spheres to add up to a multiple of the Core Number. At the top of the screen, the game will show you the next three multiples of the Core number, so if the numbers you are adding go past the current Core number you will have a reference to what the next multiple of that number that you will be looking to hit. So if your Core Number is 4, you will need to add up the outer spheres so that they add up to either 4,8,12,16,20 and so on. This number WILL change after each Core is broken.

To win at Sphere Break, you must reach your quota of Core Spheres broken in the amount of turns given to you which are displayed in the top left. You will lose the game if either you run out of spheres to play and haven't broke the Core Sphere, if you don't break the Core Sphere within the time limit in the upper left or if you don't reach the quota in the specified time.

Echo Bonuses are the key to always winning at Sphere Break. Echo Bonuses happen when you break the Core Sphere in the same amount of turns as your previous round. Think of these as a multiplier. The best strategy to use with these is to simply keep it simple and use 2 Spheres every round to break the core sphere. It might not seem like much but as soon as you get up to Echo Bonus x4 and you are getting a tally of 8 to your quota for using 2 spheres you will see the advantage. It's also best to keep the Bonus with a low number because it's easier to maintain and you seem to run less of a risk of the CPU playing a 1 for the Core Sphere and messing up your Bonus.

[top]
Alchemist
Use Mix 30 times

The first thing you will need to do for this trophy is acquire the Alchemist Dressphere. The Alchemist Dressphere can be found in Chapter 2 of the main game, in the Calm Lands. You will need to have allowed Clasko to board the Celsius and when you first travel to the Calm Lands in this chapter he will join you and head off to set up a Chocobo Ranch. If you head to where he runs off too, he will give you a side mission to clear out the fiends inside the building behind him so he can start his business and when you kill off all the fiends inside you will receive the Dressphere.

Now that you have your Dressphere you can begin using the "Mix" ability during battle to combine two items you have to make a new item. You shouldn't really need to farm this trophy as an Alchemist is very useful in battle. The most useful of the Mix abilities is to provide healing support during the battle and still being able to use offensive attack abilities. The two most useful combinations in my opinion are mixing a Potion and Hi-Potion to create a Mega Potion and by mixing a Phoenix Down and Hi-Potion to create a Final Phoenix. If you keep a good stock of those items in your inventory and simply play the game using your Alchemist as your healer with those combinations you will unlock this trophy very early in the game.

Learner
Learn 5 Blue Bullet skills

The Gun Mage Dressphere will be available in Chapter 1 of the story. When you visit the Moonflow, talk to Tobli and agree to hep protect his Caravan from bandits. Now head South on the main path until you reach the Caravan and then you must escort the Caravan back to Tobli. As you are escorting the Caravan, bandits will attack from each side of the area and try to steal items from the Caravan. You need to intercept these bandits and press the to attack them. Make sure you take out all the bandits and prevent them from getting away with any of the items and at the end of the path Tobli will give you the Dressphere as a reward.

Now that you have the sphere, when you are using it in battle you can learn some of the special abilities that the enemies use. There are a total of 16 Blue Bullet skills you can learn in total and you only have to learn 5 for this trophy. Some of these can be pretty useful, but those are also the hardest to acquire. Millionaire
Pay off O'aka's debt

First Playthrough
O'aka can be found by heading through the top left fork at the intersection at the end of the tree trunk path in Macalania Woods in Chapter 1. Head through the exit and you will find a Travel Agency with the Al Bhed trying to root out O'aka who is the new owner. O'aka will suddenly appear at the bottom of the screen and see what is happening and he will make a run for it. Now if you are fast, you can talk to him before he leaves, but it is extremely difficult as he leaves so quickly and if you miss your chance, head back into the Woods to start a new mission.

Once you enter the woods, you will be back at the intersection. Head to the bottom right path and you will enter the Shimmering Path that sites above the woods. As you follow this path, you will eventually spot O'aka below you and he will run off. Head all the way to the end of the path and take the path to the right of the tree trunk path that leads through another exit. Head straight past the two guard on the path to the left through the next exit and you will be at another intersection. Take the top left path at the intersection and you will find a Guado hanging out in this area. Talk to him a few times and he will give away where O'aka is hiding. Once he has done this head to the area he mentions and press the to interact and you will find O'aka. Talk to him and agree to let him aboard the Celsius and the first part of this trophy will be complete.

Once he's aboard the Celsius, you can buy wares from his shop at any time by heading to the Cabin where you will find him on the bottom level. He doesn't sell anything overly impressive and after you complete each transaction with him you will be shown how much is left on his debt. NOW THAT HE IS ON THE SHIP DON'T EVEN WORRY ABOUT THIS UNTIL CHAPTER 2! Once you have started Chapter 2, which is after you track down the awesome sphere on Kilika Island, when you have 10,000 Gil head to Guadosalam. Once you are there, USE THE SAVE SPHERE, then head into the Inn to the right of the save sphere. Talk to the Inn Keeper and ask him if he has any Data to sell. It will cost you 10,000 Gil and after you pay him he will give you a hint. If you miss the hint talk to him again and he will give you a second hint. The hint you are looking for is below.
  • Hint #1: It's the last person you'd expect, no question.
  • Hint #2: It's the closest person you can find.

If you don't get those hints, simply exit back to the main menu and reload your game and repeat this process. The person who the data is going to is random so don't be discouraged if it takes a little while. Once you get that as a hint, talk to the Inn Keeper again and he will buy the data back from you for 100,000 Gil !

Now that you have the 100,000 Gil, head back to the Celsius and stock up on all the recovery items you can to erase his debt and you will get your easy trophy

NG+ Playthrough
If you didn't take the time to help out O'aka on your first playthrough, make sure you Complete the quest to find him and let him on the Celsius for the NG+ Playthrough. On this Playthrough it will only cost you 1,000 Gil to pay off his debt, making it much easier to unlock the trophy

Teamwork!
Win a blitzball match

Blitzball doesn't become available until Chapter 5 of the main game. Once you are at Chapter 5, head to Luca, save the game, and then head to the Blitzball dome to view a scene and tutorial for Blitzball. Once the scene is finished you can start taking part in the Blitzball Tournament that is available to you. You control the game from a coaching standpoint and can use the points you have available to add more players to the team. I recommend just trying to get this out of the way in the first match. Move through the menus and start the game and let the teams play. If your team wins, the trophy will unlock. If your team doesn't win, simply reload the save and try again. You can get more in depth for this game but since it is mainly based on luck, I personally recommend just getting the one victory out of the way and moving on to other aspects of the game.

Excellent Negotiator
Use Bribe 30 times

One of the most useless skills of the game, Bribe, is available for the Lady Luck Dressphere. After you have unlocked the Dressphere, head into your Abilities menu and select the Bribe skill to start learning this skill. Once you learn the skill you can use it on any enemy in battle to offer them a certain amount of your Gil for them to leave the battle. You do NOT need them the Bribe to be successful to earn this trophy, you simply need to use the skill 30 times. You can offer the enemies any amount you wish to try and get the skill to work, but since there really is no point to the skill, I suggest simply offering each enemy 1 Gil until you unlock the trophy so you only waste 30 Gil. As soon as you hit 30 times using Bribe the trophy will unlock.

For help on unlocking the Lady Luck Dressphere please see the Gambler's Dream trophy below

Complete Ability
Complete the ability set for one dress

The easiest way to complete this trophy is to participate in a lot of random battles. Every enemy that is defeated during the random battles will give you a point towards the ability you are learning for the Dressphere you have equipped in the battle when the enemy is defeated. You will need to keep a Dressphere as your active Dressphere during the battles until you have mastered every single ability for any of the Dresspheres to unlock this trophy. Personally I recommend you focus on the Black Mage Dressphere with one of your girls as your first one to master as it is fairly quick and the level 3 Black Magic spells are all useful in the Boss Battles. You can view and change the active ability that you are currently learning by heading the menu and heading into the abilities sub menu. If you want to change the ability you are currently learning simply select the ability you want to focus on and press the to start working on that ability.

For a complete list of all the abilities for all the Dresspheres please see the Spherehunter trophy below.

Gambler's Dream
Roll the same number on all the Gambler's Dice

There are a couple steps to acquiring this trophy, the first will obviously be to acquire the Lady Luck Dressphere. The Dressphere will be available during Chapter 3. Visit Luca and there will be a Sphere Break Tournament being played and you will get entered as a side quest. You will need to win 3 rounds of Sphere Break against random people around Luca before you can take on the champ for the final match. I recommend saving before you start AND after each round that you win of Sphere Break, that way if you lose you can reload your last save and try again. If you lose 3 times during this tournament you are out for good. Fortunately enough, there are three people around Luca that aren't so good at Sphere Break to challenge.
  1. The first player is in the main square for Luca. Look for the man wandering around with a green shirt and brown shorts and challenge him.

    Toggle Spoiler

  2. Now head out of the main square down the long walkway towards the Blitzball Dome. At the three way intersection, continue straight and look for an old lady sitting down near the railing and challenge her.

    Toggle Spoiler

  3. Now continue to the Blitzball Dome and just inside the entrance you will find a lady dressed in a skimpy blue outfit who is just begging for a beating.

    Toggle Spoiler

Once you have defeated the third opponent, the final match begins. You can only lose the Championship Match once! If you are going to lose you will need to reload your save before the 3rd victory and replay it for another chance. The final match can be a pain as he likes to throw down 1s repeatedly and break your Echo Bonuses. I personally found the best way to beat him is by using 2 card Echo Bonuses to break the Core Number instead of trying to use chains of multiple cards. it seems like the greater amount of cards you have in your Echo Bonus chain amount, the more often he throws down 1s. Once you have won the tournament you will receive the Dressphere as a prize.

Once you have your Dressphere, there is still work to be done. Head into your abilities menu, and select Two Dice as your active ability to learn. Now continue playing the game participating in random battles until you learn the ability. Once you have learned the ability, make sure you go back to your abilities screen and select something other than Four Dice as the active ability to learn, otherwise you will need to roll the same number on ALL 4 dice instead of only on two of them. Now any time you get into battle choose the Dice Command and your girl will throw out two dice. The first time you roll doubles on the dice the trophy will unlock.

Lifetime Support
View one complete fiend tale

This is one of the easier trophies in the game as long as you start working in it as early as possible. After the opening sequences of the game, and as soon as you have control of Yuna aboard the Celsius, head over and talk to Shinra at his computer terminal. Head into his Creature Creator and complete the tutorial, the entire thing, and he will reward you with three Trap Pods. Once you have have your pods, you now need to trap some Fiends. After you have trapped some fiends, they will be available to view in the Creature History submenu of the Creature Creator. From here simply select one of the creatures and his tale will pop up. You will need to get any of the creatures you have captured to his 5th entry. At this point, the creature will be ready to be released back into the wild.

To level up your creature, you do NOT need to waste any of your items to work on his abilities. As you level up while playing, your creatures will level up as well that you have captured. Because of this, the earlier you start working on this the better as you will level up faster in the beginning of the game when your levels are lower. Periodically check back on your creatures while you are playing through the game and as soon as one levels up to level 5 and can be released select that option and watch the short video and your trophy will unlock.

Complete Episode
Complete an episode in Chapter 5

At the beginning of Chapter 5, you will have your choice of talking to Brother and heading straight to the Farplane to finish the main events of the story, OR you can talk to Buddy at the helm and he will pull up the navigation map for Spira. Once he does that, all of the locations on the map will light up as Hotspots with missions available. Not only is this needed for story completion for the 100% trophy, but you will also get a trophy for the first area that you earn an Episode Complete! rating. You can earn this trophy by completing any of the episodes that I've listed below and by completing the Mission for that area for Chapter 5.

Zanarkand Ruins
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: Complete the Monkey Soul Mate quest in Chapter 3.
  • Mission: Simply head up to the fire from the save point, and watch the cutscene.

Besaid Island
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: None
  • Mission: Head into town and head up to the Temple to find Wakka and talk to him. Once you have finished your conversation, head all the way to the beach on the other side of the area and look for Beclem near the docks. Talk to him for a final scene and he will give you a Sphere. Take this sphere back towards town and you will find Wakka up the hill near the town by the statue. Once you find him, give him the Sphere to watch the final scene for the area.

Kilika Island
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: None
  • Mission: Head through town to the gate leading to Kilika Forest and watch the scene unfold. Once the scene ends, head through the forest to the temple and watch the scene between Dona and Barthello.

Luca
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: None
  • Mission: From the Save Sphere, follow the railing of the balcony as it moves towards the screen until you trigger a cutscene. When you do this a Moogle will appear during the scene. Chase this Moogle when you have control of Yuna again all the way to the west dock where you will find a ship. After the last cutscene at the ship the Episode will be complete.

Mi'ihen Highroad
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: Complete the Mystery at Mi'ihen Highroad minigame for Rin during the previous chapters.
  • Mission: When you first enter the Highroad, one of Rin's associates will meet up with you and give inform you that Rin is expecting you if you found enough of the clues to solve the Mystery of the Highlands. IF YOU DIDN'T you will receive a consolation prize for your effort and the area will receive an "Episode Concluded" tag and you will not be able to Complete this area during this playthrough. If you have enough clues, head to the Travel Agency and talk to Rin to watch a cutscene and the Episode will be complete.

Mushroom Rock Road
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: Give the Awesome Sphere to the Youth League during the beginning of Chapter 2
  • Mission: If you sided with New Yevon during Chapter 2, you will NOT be able to complete this Episode during this playthrough. If you sided with the Youth League, head down the road and take a left to go towards the Youth League HQ. Talk to Lucil and the rest of the Youth League members and agree to a little challenge. Once the scene ends, talk to Yaibal to your left to start the challenge. Now head into the next area and move along the path taking out all the Youth League fighters along the way until you reach a final battle with Lucil.

    Lucil
Lucil isn't difficult by any means so you don't need to do any special planning for this battle. You can simply go into the battle using whatever Dresspheres you have been working on building while doing your normal free roam. She has decent offensive capabilities but with exception of Doom, which she never used on me during our battle, she doesn't have anything special. I recommend an all out offensive on her as she has less than 10,000 HP. If someone gets low on health, use your Alchemist if you have one to get a quick Mega Potion and continue.

After you finish off Lucil there will be a quick cutscene and the Episode will be complete.

Djose Temple
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: None
  • Mission: To receive an Episode Complete for this chapter you will need to destroy the Al Bhed's secret Machina, Experiment, at its max levels of 5 for Attack, Defense and Special Abilities. For a complete walkthrough on how to complete this task, please see the Dancing Queen trophy below.

Moonflow
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: To complete this Episode, you will need to have completed all the missions at the Moonflow throughout the game, as well as all the missions involving the three musicians.
  • Mission: If you have completed all the tasks, find Tobli at the river and he will offer you a chance to be a part of the concert. Agree and then you can change to different cameras as they move around the concert and look at YRP. Press the at anytime to end the concert and receive an easy Episode Complete. If you did not finish all the missions throughout the game you can only watch the show and will not receive the Episode Complete.

Guadosalam
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: You must have completed the missions for the Musicians and you must have defeated Garik in the missions at Mt. Gagazet earlier in the game.
  • Mission: If you have met the prerequisite you can find the Guado near the Save Sphere. Talk to Tromell until you receive the Episode Complete.

Thunder Plains
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: None
  • Mission: The Sphere that Shinra used to broadcast Yuna's concert has caused the Thunder Plains to be infested with Rhyoses. These monsters are attacking the Lightning Towers throughout the area. Run up to each of the 9 Lightning Towers and take out the Rhyos that is attacking it and they will leave behind a chest when they are defeated. Each chest will have an item based upon how you performed in the Lightning Tower Calibration mini game during Chapter 3. This is not necessary to finish this Episode, but you can get some items from it. Once you have finished the 9 towers, head to the lake on the left side of the second area and you will find the 10th tower being attacked by the Humbaba

    Humbaba
The Humbaba, is a tad more powerful than the pile of Rhyoses that you have been battling around the towers, but not by much. As long as you have been battling the majority of the monsters you've encountered, you can approach this battle casually without to much pre-battle planning. I still recommend keeping a designated healer on hand and healing every round as the Humbaba will hit you with Meteor as he dies to try to ruin your victory. This spell is quite powerful and will kill anyone with low health. The Humbaba can absorb Lightning damage, so be sure to avoid those attacks unless you want to heal him while fighting.

After the battle, the Al Bhed will give you the choice to take a boat over to the cave that opens up on the island with the 10th Lightning Tower. Once you get to the cave, head through the maze towards each pink dot and eventually you will find Cid who is laying on the ground injured. Once you talk to him, you will find the final boss for the area.

    Machina Panzer
The Machina Panzer is the main Machina that all those annoying little Watchers that appear in battle have been reporting to. Any abilities you used in battle can be locked by the Watchers and then the Panzer can use those abilities against you. Hopefully you have been taking the Watchers out at the start of every battle before they could report to much, and you should do the same in this battle. Once the Watchers are finished, turn your focus to the Panzer and start chipping away at its health. The Machina isn't weak to any of the elemental attacks and can absorb Lightning elemental attacks so I recommend simply staying away from magic during this battle. I recommend using two strong hitters and an Alchemist as a healer for this battle as you will need to regularly heal to keep your HP high to counter the Panzer's Sonic Ray and Gatling Gun abilities. For your other two girls use your attack abilities such as a Gun Mage with the Mech Destroyer ability and any other strong attacks that you have at your disposal to make quick work of the Panzer.

Once the Machina Panzer falls you will receive an Episode Complete.

Macalania Woods
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: Either Complete the missions to find all the musicians in the Macalania Woods in the previous chapters and defeat Garik OR Complete the mission to Rescue O'aka from debt
  • Mission: There are two ways to earn an Episode Complete for this area during Chapter 5 and Both are very easy if you completed the prerequisites early in the game.
    1. The Musicians: If you completed all the missions in the early chapters of the game to find all the musicians as they hid around the Woods and defeated Garik, head to the spring where you found Trommel early in the game and talk to the Guado that remains there to view a cutscene. Now head back to the beginning of the woods and head down the path to the right of the tree path to the next area. head past the guards at the intersection and in the third area, head down to the spring to view the final scene of the area and get an Episode Complete.
    2. The Merchants: If you saved O'aka from debt, simply head to the shop O'aka set up at the Travel Agency where you found him and watch the cutscene for an Episode Complete.

Bevelle
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: None
  • Mission: Simply head to the main temple entrance and view the cutscene.

Calm Lands
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: Start the Publicity Campaign and have at least 400 points for either faction.
  • Mission: For this Episode Complete you will need to have started the Publicity Campaign and have been trying to earn points around Spira by telling as many people as you can about the company you are promoting. If you don't have at least 400 points you can participate in the minigames in the calm lands for your company to earn the points you need. Once you have enough points, leave the area and return and a cutscene will play where a winner will be announced.

Mt. Gagazet
  • Prerequisite for Episode Complete!: Defeat Garik
  • Mission: Talk to Garik near the lower staircase by the save sphere and he will start complaining about Kimahri again. Watch the cutscene between Garik and Kimahri, then follow Kimahri up the mountain until you see an old fashioned ass kicking take place and you will receive an Episode Complete.

Treasure Hunter
Open the chest that includes the Ribbon in the Bevelle Underground

This takes place during the final stage of the main story of the game in Chapter 2. Head into Bevelle and into the Bevelle underground until you come to the part of the game where you must disable the security towers in the Security Core to proceed further into the area. You will know you are at the right place when you are on a circular platform with a hole in the middle and you must touch a series of 3 red and 3 blue panels on the outside of the platform to align the platforms down the hole in the middle to reach the exit from the area. AFTER you have aligned these platforms and you have defeated the enemies from the area it is time to get this trophy.

As you are reading this, for a reference point, Blue Tower 1 will be the panel that is directly in front of the top platform leading down into the pit. From that tower the towers I list will alternate Blue/Red in a clockwise pattern around the platform.
  1. Activate Red Tower 1, then activate Blue Tower 1, then fight the random sub boss again.
  2. Activate Blue Tower 2
  3. Activate Red Tower 2, then activate Blue Tower 2 again.
  4. Activate Red Tower 3, this is the first tower to the left of Blue Tower 1 for reference, then activate Blue Tower 3 and once again fight the randomly generated sub boss.
  5. Activate Blue Tower 2 one more time.

You should now have access to the exit at the very bottom of the hole in the middle which will lead to a platform on the outside of the area where the treasure chest with a Ribbon is located and a well earned trophy

The Gunner
Reach the highest level (LVMAX) in Gunner's Gauntlet

The Gunner's Gauntlet can be found as a side mission on Besaid Island during Chapter 2. When you travel there, you will find a pile of Blitzball players practicing around the Save Sphere. Talk to any of them and Beclem will appear and start trying to act like a badass and you will have the opportunity to start this side mission. You will need to score 500 points in the Gunner's Gauntlet to complete this side mission.

The rules of the Gunner's Gauntlet are simple. You will start out with a certain number of bullets and you will run from the area just above the Save Sphere to the beach while enemies attack you along the way. You will press the to target enemies and repeatedly press the to shoot at them with Yuna's gun. The defeated enemies will drop various ammo in chests that you can collect by running up and touching the chests.
  • Regular Ammo: This is regular single shot ammo that you start with as default.
  • Double Shot Ammo: This does exactly what you would think it does. Each shot will attack the 2 enemies you currently have targeted.
  • Death Ammo: This will instantly kill the current enemy that you have targeted, regardless of their health.
  • Volley Ammo: The best ammo in the game, will instantly kill all the enemies that you have selected by pressing the

Now the key to this mini game is to kill as many enemies as you can WITHOUT getting hit so you increase your chain bonus. Every enemy you kill will fill up the bar at the bottom of the screen. This is your chain gauge. This will fill to a max of 3x the normal points for each enemy that you kill. Once you have reached 500 points to complete the level, you need to make it to the end of the beach and talk to Beclem again to finish the game.
  • Level 1 - 500 points
  • Level 2 - 750 points
  • Level 3 - 900 points
  • Level 4 - 1000 points
  • Level 5 - 1150 points
  • Level 6 - 1300 points
  • Level 7 - 1400 points
  • Level 8 - 2000 points
  • Level 9 - 2800 points
  • Lv Max

After you have finished the game the first time, you can talk to Beclem again to play the Gauntlet again to beat your high score and increase the level you are playing on to get better prizes. There are a total of 10 levels to the game to get to the Lv Max level to unlock the trophy, and the key to getting this trophy as easy as possible is by killing the Bicocette that you can see to the right. Once you get up to level 6 the Bicocette will start appearing and he will drop the Volley Ammo. You DON'T need to play each level one at a time to level up, if your score is high enough you can level up all the levels at once. Once you have reached level 6-7, you will need to play as normal to the third section of the gauntlet. Try to not waste very much time getting here either as you will need as much time as you can get. At the third stage, you need to get one Round of Volley Shot, then you need to hightail it as fast as possible, don't worry about getting hit, to the 3rd waterfall. At the third waterfall, stand just before the waterfall as you can see in the image below this paragraph, start mashing the to target as many enemies as possible when they appear as you wait for another Bicocette to appear. Once one appears, use your Volley Shot to kill all the enemies that you have targeted then pick up the new Volley Shot that the Bicocette you just killed will drop. Now head back to the spot by the waterfall and continue repeating this process. This spot on the waterfall is a blind spot and the enemies won't be able to see you standing there so they will never hit you. If you are having trouble finding the location please check the video in the spoiler below. Once you get near the 2800 points make sure you start heading towards the beach so you have enough time to get there and you will hit the max level and unlock the trophy.

Full Chain
Achieve a 99 chain attack

There are a couple ways to unlock this trophy, I personally recommend using 3 Gunners, BUT you can also get this trophy with 3 Thiefs as well. I am going to cover the Gunner method as I personally found that it was easier to get the combo going and keep it going. The Thief seems harder to get proper timing to get the chain to continue while the ATB guages are still filling. For this method you will need to equip YRP all with the Gunner Dressphere and all three will need to have learned the Trigger Happy Lv3 ability. I recommend equipping all 3 girls with Speed Bracers to make this easier. If you are trying to get this on your first playthrough I recommend trying to get it while your levels are still low but if you have waited until you are at a high level, you will need a monster with a lot of HP like Chac. The only problem with Chac is that he is very fast and can ruin your streak pretty easily.

I personally recommend just waiting until you have finished your first playthrough then in your NG+ playthrough, enter the Grand Cup: Hard tournament where you have the chance to fight the Aranea. The Aranea is an excellent enemy to get this against as he doesn't use magic. Magic using enemies such as Flans can cause a delay in your ATB gauge while the enemy prepares its magic attack which will ruin your chain. When the battle starts, wait for all 3 gauges to fill up, then start using trigger happy and mashing the as quickly as you can during each use. By the time your third girl has finished her Trigger Happy your first girl should be ready to use hers again. You should be able to get 20+ hits on each use making it fairly quick to get the trophy this way.

[top]
Overkill
Deal 99999 damage with one attack

One of the most annoyingly difficult trophies to unlock in the game. For this trophy you will need to be able to exceed the damage limit of 9999, by either having the appropriate accessory equipped, OR you will need to have The End Garment Grid or Higher Power Garment Grid equipped and pass through all of the nodes required. There are many, MANY ways to get to the 99999 damage threshold, all of which are difficult. Below I listed the two most common.
  • The first involves using the Finale attack that is available in The End Garment Grid. To use this ability AND hit 99999 damage, you will need to have defeated every enemy in Shinra's Bestiary and their Oversouled form AND you must have not run from any battles in your current playthrough. If you have you can use this and it will always hit 99999.
  • The second involves being at max Attack or Magic which is a stat of 255. You will need to be at level 99. You will need to have the Mascot Dressphere and will need to have Battle Cry or Esoteric Melody abilities available from the Songstress Dressphere. You will also need the Armor Eraser or Mental Eraser abilities from Rikkus Mascot. You will need to raise either your Strength or Magic to bonus level 10 with the Songstress and then use Rikku to lower the Armor or Magic Defense of a low level enemy such as a Coyote. Then use either the Moogle Beam for magic, or the Cactling Gun for physical to attack the enemy.

Chocobo Whisperer
Catch the Amazing Chocobo

Finding the elusive Amazing Chocobo, is fairly simple as long as you know what you are doing, it just takes a little bit of time and a decent amount of luck. The first thing you will need to do is complete the missions with Clasko early in the game that will give you the ability to catch and raise Chocobos. For exact details on how to acquire the ability to catch and raise Chocobos, please see the Tricky Trapper trophy above.

Once you have the ability to catch Chocobos you will need to catch a pile of them. An excellent time to work on this is while you are collecting parts in the Bikanel Desert to acquire an Episode Complete! at Djose Temple. Chocobos seem to spawn rather frequently in this location in the 4 expanses where you can perform digs. I recommend catching a few Chocobos from the Bikanel Desert and a few Chocobos from the Calm Lands right outside the Chocobo Ranch. This will give you a nice mix of Bold and Normal Chocobo. Once you have a few Chocobos, head back and see Clasko and move a couple BOLD Chocobos and a couple NORMAL Chocobos to your active team. You will now need to dispatch 3 level 1 Chocobos to locations according to their temperaments. Send the BOLD Chocobos to either Djose Temple or the Calm Lands and send the Normal Chocobos to either Besaid Island or the Moonflow. The first Chocobo you send to Bikanel Desert is going to run away so keep that in mind when you send them out. Now continue working on the game and after a few missions check back with Clasko to see if your Chocobos have returned. With any luck all 3 Chocobos will have returned. If ANY of the three Chocobos have ran away, you will need to send out three more at the same level and check back later to see if they returned safely. Once all 3 at level 1 have returned, you are ready to proceed to the next stage.

Now head into your menu and raise three level 1 BOLD Chocobos to level 2 by feeding them greens. If you run out of greens, Clasko will provide more for you. Not all of your Chocobos will be able to advance to higher levels, so you may need to go catch more. Once you have three level 2 Chocobos, repeat the same process.

You will continue repeating this until you have sent out 3 Chocobos for levels 1-4 and they have all returned safely. Once you do that and are ready to send out your level 5 Chocobos, STOP!! You need to have your 4th active Chocobo that you are not sending out at level 5 as well, giving you 4 active Chocobos at Level 5. As soon as you have 4 active level 5 Chocobos, send out your final 3 level 5 Chocobos. If all three come back Clasko will have notified you that the Chocobos have found something and you will now have access to the secret dungeon.

There are some fairly powerful enemies in the dungeon so I recommend not doing this until you are near the end of the game!

Once you are inside the dungeon, you won't have access to the minimap to see where you are going. Your goal is to make it to the other side of the dungeon and open the wall panel where it will appear to be a dead end. Inside you will find a treasure chest and another wall that opens which will lead to a long hallway with a dead end at each side. Directly in the middle of this hallway on the back wall is another moveable wall that you can access once you open up each doorway that leads into this hallway. You will need to roam around the dungeon and open each of the 6 secret doors that lead into the hallway. Once you have done that, head to the main door in the very back and the wall will open revealing the Amazing Chocobo inside and your trophy will unlock.

Dresspheres are located throughout the game and are the "Jobs" of this entry into Final Fantasy. When you have a Dressphere equipped, YRP will start learning the abilities of that particular Dressphere during battle. You will begin the game with the Gunner, Thief, Warrior and Songstress Dressphere and the rest muste be found throughout the game. It is possible to collect all of these to unlock this trophy on a single playthrough, BUT the majority of these Dresspheres will only give you one opportunity to collect them during side quests. If you miss this chance, you will have to wait until your next playthrough to collect them all and unlock the trophy

Dancing Queen
Obtain Magical Dances, Vol. II

This trophy cant be earned until Chapter 5 during the main story of the game. To receive the Magical Dances Volume II key item, you will need to receive an Episode Complete! for Djose Temple. While this may sound easy, it can be somewhat of a grind and involves several steps.
  1. The first step to this trophy is to travel to Djose Temple and head into the temple. Once inside take the lift up to the top floor and then head up the stairs to take on Experiment. Now this should be a very easy battle for you as all Experiment's levels SHOULD be at level 1 as long as you didn't spend anytime digging around in the Bikanel Desert until now. He doesn't have very high HP and his attacks and defense are all fairly weak so you should be able to take him out in a couple minutes with your regular attacks without any special planning.
  2. NOW head back to the third floor of the temple, which is the one the lift takes you to, and talk to the lone Al Bhed standing in the room with the pedestals. He will ask you for a password, one letter at a time. Enter the word "Marnela" and he will give you a Repair Manual that you will need for the Al Bhed to repair Experiment later.
  3. Once you have that you need to head to Bikanel Desert and head to one of the 5 expanses available for digging and start digging. When you are digging you will need to head towards the yellow "X" and Yuna will automatically start digging. These will either be one of the components you need for Experiment OR it will be Scrap Metal. During this stage you will need to raise Experiment's Attack, Defense and Special levels to 5. To do this you will need to amass 38 points or more for each of the three categories by finding the parts in the desert. The types that you will find for each part are random and the values are listed below.
    • Type A: 1 Point
    • Type S: 3 Points
    • Type Z: 5 Points

This is tedious and time consuming as the parts are placed at Random and you can find any of the parts in any of the Expanses. On the bright note, you should master the Al Bhed language while working on this if you are grabbing the white "X"s too . Now sometimes the yellow "X"s don't immediately appear and you will need to roam around the Desert until the X appears on the map. They will usually appear just under 30 seconds to go. Also make sure you get back to the hover before time expires for the dig to count. You can head back to the Djose Temple and check the kiosk in the south room of the first floor to view how many of each part you have at any time, but I recommend just getting a notepad and keep a running tally of how many of each part you have found. Once you get enough to have 38 points for each category you are ready to proceed to the next step.
  4. Now head back to the Al Bhed temple and get prepared for another battle with Experiment. Get prepared before you leave the Celsius by reading the tips below and be sure to SAVE YOUR GAME!!! Head up to the top floor of the Temple and speak to the Al Bhed by the broken Experiment and offer him the Repair Manual and prepare for battle.

Experiment
Experiment at Level 5 is much more of a pain than the Level 1 version. I recommend using your Tempered Will Garment Grid with a setup of Dark Knight and the Alchemist on each side of the Double HP bonus. Equip YRP all with the Dark Knight as your default Dressphere so all three of them have a higher starting MP count to start the battle and equip the Speed Bracer accessory on either Yuna or Paine. I would recommend having the Items Level 2 ability unlocked for Rikku as the Alchemist as well BUT it isn't 100% necessary. Also if you have any accessories that equip the Auto-Protect ability I would equip that on Rikku. The battle will start with Experiment using the Rocket Launcher ability, which can cause massive damage and take out anyone with low HP. After his initial attack, change Rikku to the Alchemist to double her HP and mix up a Mega Potion. Cast Hastega with either Yuna or Paine depending on who you gave the Speed Bracer to, and have your other girl change to the Alchemist and then back to the Dark Knight to double her HP. Once Hastega has been applied to all three girls, then change your Haste caster to the Alchemist and back to the Dark Knight to double her HP and begin casting Darkness with both of your Dark Knights. While doing this continue a nonstop mixing of Mega Potions with Rikku every single round to prevent falling behind when the Experiment casts Rocket Launcher. The only time you should stop making Mega Potions is if the Experiment uses Life Slicer, which ill instantly KO one of your girls. If this is one of the the Dark Knights, mix up a Final Phoenix with Rikku and continue taking down the Experiment. If Rikku falls, use your Dark Knights to heal her with a Phoenix, Hi-Potion or X-Potion combo and have her immediately mix a Mega Potion. The Experiment doesn't have very high health so continue this method and it will fall in about 5 minutes.

Monster Master
Complete Shinra's Bestiary

Shinra's Bestiary, can be completed on a single playthrough of the game, if you take the time to fight the majority of the time. The Bestiary, does NOT include EVERYTHING you face in battle in the game, it will only include the enemies shown below. The sections below are directly matched to the Bestiary to make it easier to find the enemy that you may be missing. You will also need to Oversoul the enemies for this trophy, BUT you don't need to defeat the Oversouled versions of the enemies, you can face them and run away for it to count. This only works for the Oversouled versions of the enemies though, simply running away from the battle on the first try won't give enemies an entry. This will carry over on NG+ so if you miss an enemy on your first playthrough, you can find it on the second playthrough.

Defeat Trema

This trophy is only available during the 5th chapter of the game. Visit Bevelle and you will find that the Kinderguardians have found a secret area beneath the temple. Head to the main temple, then head off down the passage on the right to find them as well as a new portal and a save point. Once you start the Cloister, you will be dropped down to the first level. Your goal on each floor is to find the way to drop down to the next level to continue. Along the way, you will find portals that will give you the option to head back to the surface. This does NOT effect your progress!! You should use these very now and then to head back to the surface to save just in case you die. After saving, you can continue from the Cloister you last reached by entering the starting portal again.

Every 20 floors you will reach a Super Boss, that will get progressively more difficult as you reach deeper levels. in addition to that, the enemies that you will face in normal battle will get progressively difficult the deeper into the Cloisters you reach. once you reach level 100, you will face the final challenge and finally face off against Trema himself.

[top]Elder Drakes and Mega Tonberrys

Elder Drakes
Elder Drakes will start appearing immediately as you are moving down the Cloisters. They aren't hidden and will either be in a level where they are jumping out from a nook into the main hallway OR in a level where they are sitting in a seemingly unavoidable pit directly in the main path of the level. With a little investigating, however, you will find that both of these can simply be avoided. You may see them at first and think... "Big Deal...a Drake :stare:" BIG MISTAKE. These bastards have about 27,000 HP, and are protected by Protect barriers. All there attacks are physical, but they can easily cause enough damage to one hit kill you in the early stages of the Cloisters unless you are pushing 10,000+ HP. They are also extremely fast. I recommend avoiding them until you have cleared Cloister 40 and can start employing the Cat Nip strategy to defeat them. I also recommend going into the battles with a tank character equipped with the Adamantite accessory to act as healer to your Cat Nip Thief to you don't accidentally get defeated during the battle.

Mega Tonberrys
Mega Tonberrys will start appearing about halfway to through the Cloisters and are even more deadly than the Elder Drakes. In addition to that, there are several Cloister levels that you will NOT be able to avoid the battle. Because of this I recommend saving often at lower levels. The Mega Dons can kill you with a single hit from their Chef Knife as it will cause 5 digit damage and much like the Drakes are extremely fast. They can usually take out two of your characters to one of your attacks unless you have Haste cast on you. I recommend using the same strategy for the Elder Drakes on the Mega Dons, or just avoid them altogether. Even with the Adamantite, they can still cause 2000+ damage per attack with the Chef's Knife so make sure you try and keep as many people healed as possible during the battle.

[top]Cloister Super Bosses

Cloister 20 - Aranea
Aranea barely even counts as a Super Boss IMO, and will give you the wrong idea about this challenge. If you have already faced off against Angry Manyu, this battle will be a joke to you. Aranea, has a few powerful attacks, but nothing that you can't handle. I recommend using Rikku as your healer as an Alchemist and mix Mega Potions every round to keep your party in top shape. Use Yuna and Paine as Dark Mage's and use the Darkness attack every round to make quick work of the spider.

Cloister 40 - Black Elemental
Once you reach level 40, you will face off against the very annoying Black Elemental. The Black Elemental, isn't overly powerful in terms of HP, even in his Oversoul form, but he has extremely powerful magic. Don't even bother going into this battle unless you have the Magical Masque skill learned for the Songstress Dressphere. This skill will be unlocked for the Songstress with the Magical Dances v II item. If you need help acquiring this item, please see the Dancing Queen trophy. When the battle starts, have your Songstress immediately cast the Magical Masque skill to protect your team from the Ultima spell that the Black Elemental will randomly cast. The Ultima skill will cause 9999 damage on each party remember regardless of your Magic Defense and can't be blocked with Reflect. Magical Masque will guard you against this attack so continuously use this skill to protect you. Now have your two Dark Knights go on the all out offensive using Darkness on the Black Elemental. Don't worry about healing as your Tetra Bracelets will heal you as the Elemental casts his other spells against you. Your goal is to take out the Black Elemental as quickly ass possible with your two Dark Knights BEFORE the Elemental uses his Full-Cure spell on himself. you should be able to take him out in 4-5 hits with Darkness regardless of him being Oversouled for a quick victory.

Cloister 60 - Concherer
Once you reach level 60, you will face off against what I am referring to as Asshole Snail, or Concherer. The Concherer is EXTREMELY powerful, and EXTREMELY fast for a snail. All of our normal strategies won't work with Asshole Snail as he has the Megaton Press attack that can cause 60,000+ damage with a single hit. When he isn't using that he has a less powerful regular attack that causes a mere 9,999 damage per attack so don't even bother trying to double your HP for this battle. The easiest way to defeat the Conchere is with the Cat Nip accessory that you receieved from defeating the Black Elemental at Cloister 40. Equip this little gem to any of your characters, and pair it with the Speed Bracer to counter the Slow effect it will add to you, and apply the Thief Dressphere. With your other two characters just use whoever you would normally use in battle, EXCEPT your Alchemist if you have already unlocked the Chemist auto ability. This will cause your Phoenix downs to heal too much and will be ineffective. Once the battle starts let the Concherer kill whoever is using the Cat Nip accessory and use a Phoenix Down to bring her back. She should heal still in the yellow and the Cat Nip will activate. She will now get Berserked and start attacking on her own and with the Thief sphere she will be attacking twice for 9999 damage each. Make sure you don't heal your character otherwise the Cat Nip will deactivate, simply use your other two characters to use Phoenix Downs to keep everyone alive and the Concherer will fall fairly quickly

Cloister 80 - Chac
If you think Concherer was an asshole, then you will have a lovely time facing off against Chac . He will now be known as Asshole Basilisk and is even more difficult to defeat than Concherer was at Cloister 60. Chac is equally as fast, his regular attacks can cause 9999 damage to your HP, uses Heaven's Cataract which can cause damage over 10,000 to EACH of your characters with a single hit and casts Stony Glare, which will petrify a member of your party and can't be guarded with any accessory including a Ribbon. Make sure you stock up on Softs before starting this battle as you will need them almost every round! You will need to have a proper setup and an extremely high level before you are strong enough to face off against Chac, I had all three of my girls over level 90 before I was able to stand up to this asshole. When you start off the battle, use a Chocobo Wing with Rikku to get Haste on Yuna and Paine, then immediately look at what direction Chac is facing and prepare to use a Soft as soon as you see him casting the spell. If you don't get a Soft cast immediately he will follow up his Stony Glare by attacking the person petrified and she will be gone for the entire battle so you HAVE to make this a priority EVERY round. Wait for Chac to either attack Rikku or when he casts Heaven's Cataract, use a Phoenix Down on Rikku to active her Cat Nip and she will start taking down Chac's Health. Your goal from here on out is to keep everyone still in the action by using Softs to unpetrify the characters. If you get a chance, use the Cactling Gun with Paine as Rikku can still move during the animations to get in several attacks on Chac while he can't move, BUT make sure you pay attention and don't try to get a hit in that will cause one of your twp healers to get petrified and shattered and you end up losing them for the entire round. This may take several attempts to get this strategy to work as Chac is a complete asshole, but this strategy will work. If you need visual help, please view the video below to watch the strategy in action.

Cloister 100 - Paragon
The next two battles are back to back battles, so you will need to properly prepare for these battles, BEFORE the start of the first battle. The first thing I recommend, is stocking up on Phoenix Downs, max them out to 99 as you will need them. After that prepare your setup for battle. I recommend using the same Dressphere setup from the Chac battle with a few tweaks.
  • Yuna will still be our tank with the Adamantite. Drop the Rabite's Foot off of her, and replace it with a Ribbon to help out with battle and to prevent Paragon from using Stop on you. If you ahve the Auto Ribbon ability unlocked already, use a Speed Bracer on Yuna.
  • Rikku will still be our Cat Nip Thief. Now here lies the tough decision. You will need Haste on her to do battle against Paragon, so I personally recommend using the Speed Bracer on her so you don't have to try and reapply the effect every time she dies. If you have the Peerless Garment Grid, then I recommend equipping that on Rikku with the Psychic Dressphere on one side of the Auto-Haste module and the Thief Dressphere on the opposite module and equip the Rabite's Foot instead of the Speed Bracer. The Rabite's Foot will help you with the Trema battle as he has an extremely high Evasion stat and will dodge the majority of your attacks.
  • Paine will be our support healer and attacker, so leave her setup the same as you did for the Chac battle

Start off with Rikku in the Psychic Dressphere and work on trying to Teleport her as far out of the way of Paragon's Genesis attack as possible. If you can get her completely out of the way to the point that it doesn't even hit her, that would be best. Work on this for a few minutes, BUT you are somewhat on a time limit as once the fight has gone on for too long, Paragon will unleash his Big Bang attack that will deal 99,999 damage to each character regardless of accessories. I personally was never able to get her out of the way of the Genesis attack, but I was able to get her out of the way of his swiping physical attack which kept her alive longer. Once you have Rikku in position, change her to the Thief Dressphere and either attack yourself or let Paragon take her out, then use a Phoenix Down on her to start her Cat Nip.

Start your fight with Yuna by using a Chocobo Wing on the party to get Haste going or even just a Chocobo Feather on Yuna. If you have a Speed Bracer equipped, then skip this step and start distracting Paragon with your Moogle Beam. Pay attention though as your main job with Yuna is to keep the party from dieing. With Paine, immediately start of with the Cactling Gun to start working on Paragon's Health. Paine will most likely die or get stopped a lot during this battle, but don't worry too much about that, your main focus is to get Rikku into position then start her Cat Nip. Paragon doesn't have a tremendous amount of health and should fall fairly quick once you start with the Cat Nip.

Then the final battle begins....

Cloister ∞ - Trema
The Trema battle will immediately begin after Paragon falls, and YRP will NOT be healed before this fight. The good news about that is that Rikku will automatically start in the Thief Dressphere and should presumably have Cat Nip already activated. Trema isn't overly powerful with his physical attacks, BUT he is extremely fast and agile. Once again keep Rikku alive with Phoenix Downs and let her do most of the work on Trema with her Cat Nip. I recommend using a Twin Stars on both Paine and Yuna this round that way you can cast Cactling Gun every round with 0 MP cost. You should have no problem keeping Paine and Yuna alive during this battle, but Rikku will die repeatedly. When Trema's health starts to get low, and that takes a while even at 9999 HP damage every hit, he will occasionally use Meteor which shouldn't be a problem for you with your recommended setup as long as you keep your health fairly high. Once his health gets REALLY low, however, he will use Ultima so make sure you try and keep your health relatively high. Once he falls, the Cloister will be over and you will get your trophy as well as the legendary Iron Duke accessory

Machine of War
Defeat Vegnagun

Assuming you have already finished the Cloister of Trials and defeated Trema to complete the game in a single playthrough, this final battle will be a joke. Vegnagun, isn't even as powerful as Angry Mainyu that you will face to complete the mission in the Bikanel Desert. There are several battles you must fight to fully destroy Vegnagun: Tail, Leg, Core and finally the head and none of the sections have over 40,000 HP meaning you can easily take each section out with two rounds of attacks from your Catnip Thief. In addition to that the attacks of Vegnagun aren't overly powerful, especially compared to the enemies that you faced inside the Cloister of Trials in Bevelle. The only battle that will require any sort of strategy if you are properly equipped will be the final battle against the head as you can't target the Head until you have destroyed the Left and Right Debouts, which can easily be taken down with simple melee attacks from Yuna and Paine in their Mascot Spheres leaving the Head for Rikku as your thief.

Sweet Perfection
Complete 100% of the main story

This is quite honestly the most annoying trophy for the entire game. You will need to follow the checklist below EXACTLY if you want to equal out at 100% for the trophy. I recommend making a manual save at the beginning of each chapter, then double checking at the end of each chapter to see if you missed anything before moving on. If you decide to just go through and only have one save, If you happen to miss something and have already moved on to the next chapter, you will have to playthrough the game again! When you finish your game, you can continue in NG+ mode and your completion percentage will carry over, but there are several things that if you mess up in the first couple chapters, you won't be able to finish the final chapter completely and will cause you to have to replay the entire game again. You can view your progress in the navigation menu inside the Celsius. Once you reach 100% completion percentage, the trophy will unlock.

Just Starting
Reach the 10th floor of Iutycyr Tower

The last 5 trophies in the game, revolve around completing the Iutycyr Tower, which is available in the FFX-2 Last Mission game. I recommend waiting until AFTER you have finished the main story to play through this extra part of the game, as the story takes place after the main mission of the game and will make more sense. None of the equipment you acquired during the main game is going to carry over into this game so you will just be starting over from level 1.

The game takes place on each floor of the tower, from a top down view. You can move turn the camera to get better views as you explore from room to room looking for the Elevator to take you to the next floor of the tower. At certain intervals you will be given the option to save your game, and at every 20th floor you will face off against a level boss. Every 5 floors, you will encounter a locked elevator with certain conditions that must be met to proceed forward. In every trophy, I will list what the unlock conditions are to get to that level as you can see below.
  • 5th Floor
    • Unlock Condition 1: Attack 3 different enemies
  • 10th Floor
    • Unlock Condition 1: Attack 10 different enemies

[top]Iutycyr Tower Tips and Strategies

  • You can only use one of YRP for the tower, so pick your fave girl and start the climb.
  • You can equip up to 5 Dresspheres on your girl at a time. You will have each of the Dresspheres abilities available to you, but your active Dressphere will also have a special ability that isn't available for reserve Dresspheres
  • If you lose all your health for a particular Dressphere, you will lose that Dressphere and your girl will automatically change into the next Dressphere you have equipped. You will NOT be able to retrieve destroyed Dresspheres unless you have a Hope Memoir which has an Auto-Life ability.
  • If all of your Dresspheres have been destroyed, you will just be in a plain outfit and will only be able to punch and kick with no abilities.
  • If you lose all your Dresspheres in battle and then run out of HP you will have to restart from your last save point, or start over.
  • If you take too long to complete a level, the Founder will appear and at first he will change you into a Fem Goon, then he will kick you out of the Tower.
  • All the Dresspheres from the game are present in the tower. You will find them at level 1 and their levels can be raised by fusing them together.
  • Dresspheres such as the Alchemist and Gunner, are excellent to have as your active Dressphere as you can attack enemies up to 3 squares away.
  • THERE IS NO NG+ MODE FOR THE FINAL MISSION!! Once you have finished floor 80, if you need to replay the tower for the Tonberry trophy you will need to start a New Game OR use a Restart Guide from your last Save.
  • Stone Pillars will sometimes drop items when you destroy them or will open up a new path
  • Gold Stone Pillars will give you Gil equal to the amount of HP you attack for each turn until they are destroyed
  • The best Dressphere combo to complete the tower: This combo will give you the 1/2 Damage and Confuseproof abilities which will be very useful all the way through the game, as well as the ability to cast Doom, Demi, Jiggly Ripple and Curaga.
    • Gunner
    • Gun Mage
    • Mascot
    • Dark Knight
    • White Mage
  • Important Iutycyr Tower Items: This is is simply a list of IMPORTANT Items, there are many more.
    • Ethers/Turbo Ethers/Premiere Ethers: I always recommend keeping a White Mage on hand to cast Curaga on yourself, so it is important to have some of these to heal.

Still a Ways
Reach the 20th floor of Iutycyr Tower and defeat the boss

Moving up to the 20th floor, you will face off against an Ochu as the first boss of this game. The Ochu isn't difficult as long as you have been fighting regularly up to this point, and he is actually quite slow, so you will get several attacks in to his one attack. He does have an annoying bee with him that I recommend taking out first as the Bee can cause Silence on you which can negate the use of your Curaga spell. The Ochu will attack you with his vine attack for a few turns which will cause about 12 HP damage to you, and on every 3-4 turns he will use a Ground Slam attack that can cause damage in the mid to high 40s so try to keep your health above 50. Aside from that, just continue to pound away at him every turn until he falls.

Midway Through
Reach the 40th floor of Iutycyr Tower and defeat the boss

Reaching the 40th floor can be a pain as there is a pile of annoying monsters in the way that can cause real damage as well as several very annoying status effects. The worst of which being Confuse which will cause you to start randomly throwing items in every direction. If this happens and you throw one of your Dresspheres at an enemy you won't be able to recover it. Try to find a Demi Lexicon if you can and save it as it will help make the final boss fight for this section easier.

Once you reach level 40 you will face off against the Stalwart. The beginning room will have you face off against 4 Wild Wolves and 2 Nashorns. The wolves will attack immediately and can cause major damage when they get all around you and attack at the same time. I recommend using the Moogle as one of your back up Dresspheres as the Jiggly Ripple attack can push the 4 wolves away from you while causing damage to all four of them and will give you a chance to face them one at a time. With the Alchemist/Gunner as your active Dressphere you can keep them at bay by starting your attack 3 spaces out then using this attack to push them all away once they get close. Once the wolves are done, you can take the Nashorns out one at a time.

Head into the next room to find the Stalwart roaming around and use your Demi Lexicon to half his health. If you have another one use it again to half it again to make this even faster. The Stalwart has two attacks, the first being his regular melee attack. This can cause moderate damage about 15 HP or so, but can also miss and doesn't have a huge range. He also has a second attack which is a Gigabeam attack that will cause mid 30s HP damage and has a very large range. I recommend using the same strategy you used against the wolves to keep him away from you while attacking him with your ranged weapons as he moves in to melee attack you until he falls.

Almost There
Reach the 60th floor of Iutycyr Tower and defeat the boss

ON the 44th floor, be sure to use a Thief Dressphere to steal the Triple Tiara accessory from the Founder before taking the elevator. This will make the rest of the game much easier.

When you reach the 60th floor, you'll face off against Ultima Weapon. In the first room you will get to battle against 2 Sahagins, which aren't too terribly difficult, but they can hit you with a water attack from a distance that will cause Darkness. Once you have defeated the two of them, there will be a Tomb waiting in the next doorway. He will immediately start hitting the entire room with Meteor so get over to him and take him down quickly

Once you have taken out all of the first room, it's time to head into the next room and take on the Ultima Weapon. The Ultima Weapon has a couple fairly strong attacks that can cause 50-70 damage, so I definitely recommend you have the 1/2 health Auto Ability active before this battle. He has about 900 HP so if you have a couple Demi-Lexicons, I recommend using both of these as you can cut his health down to about 250 HP at the very beginning of the battle. Once you have his health cutdown, start chipping away at him. The Triple Tiara accessory will help greatly here as you can hit him three times to his one attack. His Defense is very high so expect needing to hit him several times even at his post Demi health.

Tonberry's Treasure
Obtain treasure in the Tonberry area

Acquiring this trophy will require, 3 Find Secret Room books, and 3 Save Memos. Now in my journey up to floor 61, I personally only found one of the Find Secret Room books, so they are very difficult to find, HOWEVER you can use Notebooks, which you will find several of, to create two more of these once you have found one so that you have enough.

THERE IS NO NG+ MODE FOR THE FINAL MISSION!! Once you have finished floor 80, if you need to replay the tower for the Tonberry trophy you will need to start a New Game OR use a Restart Guide from your last Save.. If you have to use a Restart Guide for this trophy don't be too frustrated, you can easily breeze through the lower levels of the tower in about 3 hours with your carried over levels.

Once you get to Floor 61-64, use one of the Find Secret Room books to go to the next room. The next room should have pillars in the shape of a circle with one in the middle. If not, you will need to exit out of the game, reload your save at level 61F that you will make after defeating Omega Weapon and try again. Once you are in the room, destroy the middle pillar, exit out of the room and use a Save Memo. Now repeat this process until you find Secret Rooms with pillars in a "+" and then pillars in a triangle shape with one in the middle. After you destroy the middle pillar in the Triangle room you will gain access to the Tonberry room.

In this room, you will need to kill the 4 Mega Tonberrys and the regular Tonberry to proceed. I recommend using two Demi-Lexicons to drop their health to 1/4, then start the attack, Anytime they get too close, use Jiggly Ripple to push them away and keep them at a distance. If you are using the Dressphere setup I recommended int he tips, the Darktouch Auto Ability will help out greatly during this battle. Once they are all defeated, the treasure will appear for you to grab and collect the trophy. If you are having trouble please view the video below

Giant Tower
Reach the 80th floor of Iutycyr Tower and defeat the boss

The final floor of the game, is a bit tricky to get to and contains a boss that is quite powerful, Quattor. The most annoying part of the enemy is that he uses a Quake attack that can cause Confuse on your character which is very difficult to get past. Once he confuses you, your character will most likely start throwing out your Dresspheres and you will be done. You can combat this by equipping the Darknight and the Gunner dressphere so you have Confuseproof as an auto ability.

Now that the battle has started, there are a few options. You can hit him with several Demi-Lexicons and Mini-Demi abilities to bring down his health then start the attack, but be warned he has a very high HP, OR you can cast Doom on him and wait it out. If you have plenty of healing abilities to last the 45 counter this could be your best bet. You need to make sure you keep your 1/2 Damage ability active though as his attacks are very powerful and you will need this ability active to survive the battle.

There will be 3 stages to this final battle, and each time he will regain ALL his health while you regain nothing, so come prepared with several healing items and MP restoration abilities. If you are out of Demi-Lexicons, I recommend hitting him with a steady attack of Mini-Demis until it gets down to about 80HP meaning he only has about 300 left and then start attacking him to make this go faster
