[top]Tips & Strategies

  • Play the game on Hard. It's not very challenging and is the only way to unlock Lethal difficulty.
  • Play with each character to find the one that suits your play style best.
  • Use your Xenotech weapons sparingly, you never know when you'll run into a drought of ammo packs.
  • Never run too far ahead, stick with your team.
  • Whenever you see an enemy rushing your position when you're behind cover, try to get a kill when the prompt appears.
  • Manually aim your grenades, the game will throw the grenade at the nearest enemy by default.
  • Try to stealth kill as many enemies as you can in each area, but be careful not to move too far forward, as being seen can be troublesome.
  • When you need to disable the automated turrets, use Jacob. His Arcshot can disable them with one bolt.
  • Make reviving your teammates a top priority when they go down.
  • Even if you stick with one character throughout the game, switch between characters if you need more ammo or you want to get to a location more quickly.
  • All characters are designed to take out crowds of enemies, use their weapons for this technique often.
  • Watch your flank, enemies WILL try to sneak around and attack you sometimes.

[top]Roadmap

  • First Playthrough
Play on Hard from the get go, because this is the only way to unlock Lethal difficulty. Follow the collectables guide to grab all 53 Intel items. Go for any trophies that you can throughout the game. But don't worry if you miss any, you can just level select to any mission for any particular trophy. You may accumulate 2500 kill on your first playthrough, but if you don't manage to, don't worry too much about it, as you'll have to go through the whole game again, and Echelon Mode afterwards.
  • Echelon Mode
Next go through Echelon Mode and 5 star all maps. While you're here, I also suggest you spend time maxing each character out and completing their skill trees as this is imperative for success in Lethal Difficulty. You may also want grab a few combat related trophies in this step to make your cleanup a little bit shorter. But the main goal overall is to max out each character and their skill trees. Also this is a good time to grind out your 1,090,000 Fuse Credits you will need for all team perks. Once you have all the team perks, set the ones you want for Lethal difficulty. Try to assign ones the help with survival and damage increase, as you should have all the Intel out of the way to lessen distractions.
  • Lethal Playthrough
The only thing that matters here is beating the game. Nothing else should enter your mind, aside from "Kill everything and move on".
  • Clean Up Playthrough
Set the game to easy and just mop up the other random trophies you neglected to complete previously. And hopefully... DING

Overstrike
Complete all missions on Normal difficulty.

Just complete the game on Normal difficulty. Pretty simple. HOWEVER, you must complete the game on Hard to unlock Lethal Difficulty. So you might as well start off there. Please see Overstrike Elite for campaign tips.

[top]
Overstrike Elite
Complete all missions on lethal.

Lethal difficulty is only slightly harder than Hard. So it isn't too bad really, but there are a few differences between Hard and Lethal. Also do remember that you must beat the game on Hard to unlock Lethal.

For starters the damage you take isn't increased all that much, however if an Infiltrator or a Spec Ops Soldier grabs you, you only have a few moments before death. Also enemies can take more punishment, which can make Enforcers, Whistlers and Maelstroms fairly tough. So for the sake of your sanity, I HIGHLY advise that you play with some friends, as the AI isn't exactly the sharpest tool on the Christmas tree... wait.

All tips provided in the tips section all applies here. Stick to cover as much as you can, aim for heads, and don't take huge risks if you don't need to. If you are going to play with other players, make sure each person has their characters maxed, so they can have alternate abilities and they can have all their damage bonuses.

If you are going to play solo, the above still applies. Each character can use Fusion when they have it, which will help with all boss fights. However the draw back is that their response to you going down is either non-existent or hugely delayed.

[top]
Buddy System
Complete a single mission in co-op (2, 3 or 4p).

You have to play through the whole game with atleast 1 other person for the Platinum, so this trophy will pop as you go along. Please refer to Group Hug for more information.

[top]
Group Hug
Complete all missions co-op (2, 3 or 4p).

This can be done on any difficulty. No need to go through on Lethal if you don't want to. You must beat the game with at least one other person. And no, they cannot just enter near the middle or end and get credit. You must be together from beginning to end. You can stop at check points and pick it back up later.

I would advise that if you have a friend who is also going for the Platinum, that you play the game on Lethal. However, make sure they are all higher levels and have most of the skill tree unlocked. Otherwise it's gonna be way harder than it needs to be.

[top]
The Merc
Get Dalton to max level.

Dalton's max level is 35, which takes around 1,000,000 XP. This might take a while, but I there a multitude of ways to gain XP with Dalton

Simply having people stand behind his shield and killing enemies will net Dalton some points. So if you play as Dalton, never forget that you are more of a support character than anything else. The other thing he is good at, is close quarters combat. His shield acts a super powered shotgun, which can obliterate weaker enemies and stagger more powerful ones. So remember that to also use that ability when you get rushed by a large group.

However, Dalton is risky in some fights, as his Fuse will deplete quickly when you blast a large group of enemies. Not to mention he loses Fuse when his shield takes damage. So unless you can keep stock piled with tons of ammo (By using Fusion for example) then just stick to one play style depending on the situation you and your team are in.

[top]
The Assassin
Get Naya to max level.

Naya's max level is 35 which takes around 1,000,000 XP. This might take a while, but I do have some strategies to gain XP with Naya.

She functions almost exactly like Izzy, except that she can go invisible to get a drop on more powerful targets or just blast a large group of unsuspecting enemies. This is also a good way to rack up that XP as when you stealth kill an enemy while cloaked you get a stealth bonus AND when you fire your weapon while cloaked you get a damage bonus.

Now, just like Izzy, Naya's Warp Rifle is more for crowd control then anything else. The more enemies you get trapped in your black holes, the more XP you will get. In conjunction with the Cloak damage bonus, she can be devastating to weaker enemies and a power house to stronger enemies.

But do note, that the Warp Rifle will overheat if you fire it for too long. Remember to pay attention to the heat meter.

[top]
The Detective
Get Jacob to max level.

Jacob's max level is 35 and will take 1,00,000 CP to achieve. I do have some strategies to wrack up XP with Jacob.

Jacob is unfortunately a more of a single note type of character. His Arcshot is not very versatile and is horrid at close range. So he's pretty much stuck at Medium to Long range. Mind you, this makes him a great sniper, but his secondary ability isn't very useful to the team.

His Arcshot is insanely accurate and powerful, and his secondary ability allows him to liquefy his enemies where they stand, along with the enemies in close proximity to each bolt. So the best way is to spread the bolts throughout a large group and ignite them.

Another tactic is to shoot bolts onto chokepoints and ignite them as enemies walk by. This can work wonders on Riot Shield Soldiers. Simply place some bolts near their feet and wait for them to pass over your bolts, then ignite them.

[top]
The Hacker
Get Izzy to max level.

Izzy's max level is 35 and it takes 1,000,000 XP. I do have some strategies for Izzy that will help you gain some XP in either the main campaign or Echelon mode.

To get a lot of skill points with Izzy, the best way is to use the Shattergun almost exclusively. Once they are trapped in the melanite, lob a grenade into a huge group and shatter them all at once. This will give you a larger bonus more quickly than if you were to just keep shooting at them. Of course revives can give a buttload of points, so be sure to heal your team at every chance you can.

Try to focus your fire on a group of enemies that your teammates are shooting at as some XP can be gained by combining different weapon combos. Not to mention you also get XP for catching them in the melanite and having your teammates kill them.

[top]
Perk-olated
Purchase a single Team Perk.

This is self explanatory. Go into your Pause Menu and select Team Perks and buy one. The cheapest ones are all 10,000 Fuse Credits, with one being 30,000. Please refer to Grown Up for the list of Team Perks.

[top]
That's a Lot of Dead Guys
Kill 2500 enemies in Campaign and Echelon.

To be more clear, you must kill 2500 enemies throughout the whole game. Meaning totals between Single Player and Echelon combined will suffice to unlock the trophy. However, do note that if you fail to complete all 12 waves in Echelon, you will NOT be awarded those kills. Also in Single Player, you CANNOT reload a checkpoint and farm kills that way. The only way they will count is if you reach a checkpoint and it autosaves.

Another thing, all kills by each character combined will unlock the trophy as well. So don't worry about sticking with one character all of the time if you don't want to.

To see how many kills you have, go to the Recon option (In the Main Menu or the Pause Menu), go to Service Record > Agents > All.

[top]
Unstoppable
Complete 6 waves on a single map with 2+ players.

Echelon consists of 12 waves, with the 6th being a "boss" battle. Wave 12 is also a "boss" fight, but with a more powerful enemy and a time limit. Just complete wave 6 and this trophy is yours. I will put more information in the Ain't Got No Time To Bleed entry.

But I will mention that this particular wave isn't too hard, it's usually just a Leadfoot/Leadfire/Leadshot that appears, with some enemies to back him up. So this isn't too challenging.

[top]
Ain't Got Time to Bleed
Complete 12 waves on a single map with 2+ players.

Here is where you will have to work as a team to succeed. You have a small amount of time to take out 1-2 Enforcers (It seems to be very random), and these guys are backed up by an assortment of other enemies. So there will be a lot things to look out for. Just remember that each player should stick to their role and not deviate unless utterly necessary.

Another tip for this wave is DO NOT split up, stick together and work with each other. Be very communicative, everyone must be well informed on events happening on every side of the battle.

One last thing, don't worry about going down on any wave leading up to the 6th and this one. You just have to complete them. Star rating is also unimportant for these trophies.

[top]
Let's Go Shopping
Spend 100,000 Fuse Credits.

You will get this naturally if you are going for Valued Customer . Please refer to that trophy for more information.

I will say that you can buy cosmetic skins for each character and their weapons. However, I wouldn't waste your time with those, as they give you no added bonuses, and it would be more helpful to just upgrade your Team Perks. But if you feel inclined to do so, you can still achieve this by buying said skins.

[top]
Echelon Specialist
Get 5 Stars on a single Echelon Map with 2+ players.

You will nab this as you go for Echelon Agent . So I would ask that you would refer to that entry for all information regarding these two trophies.

[top]
Echelon Agent
Get 5 Stars on all Echelon maps with 2+ players.

Echelon Mode is a horde mode of sorts, and is the BEST way to grab some XP and Fuse Credits. The way Echelon Mode works, is that each mission consists of 12 Waves. Each wave is randomized (We will go over those shortly) and have a certain conditions that must be met to progress. Wave 6 and 12 consist of a boss fight. The difference between Wave 6 and Wave 12 is that Wave 12 is on a time limit (1:30 seconds).

There are 4 different types of waves.

Carnage: Basically this wave is just a test of survival against a hoard of enemies. The best tip for this, is to stick together and work together. which can be said for all types of waves. But for this particular wave it's the only real thing that needs to be done. In the later waves, I would advise that you minimize risks as a tiny mistake could mean the difference between 5 stars and failure.

Critical Drop: Players will have to make there way through the level to collect drops that are set behind waves of enemies. For this wave, Dalton should take point and lead the team as far as he can to the drop. As you are moving up, make sure to have either Izzy or Naya watching your back, as enemies will flank you. Once you are all behind cover, Izzy and Naya should try to whittle down the line of enemies, Jacob should stay in the back and take pot shots at enemies, while Dalton should provide extra cover with his Magshield.

Hot Zone: This is just all players defending a canister of Fuse that is placed on the map. This Fuse canister will allow your team to regenerate Fuse at an alarming rate, which encourages you to stay near it, which you should. Dalton should obviously, be using his shield to protect the Fuse canister from incoming fire and using his blast to decimate any enemy that gets close. Izzy should stay with Dalton and drop a Med Beacon near the center of the Fuse Canister, so the team can stay healed. She should also be using her Shattergun to destroy pockets of enemies. Naya is has a more riskier role, she should always get in behind enemies and light them up with the Warp Rifle, then return to the canister to stock up, rinse and repeat. Jacob should be taking pot shots at enemies and using his Arcshot to liquefy enemies from a distance.

Countdown: This is a variant of Hot Zone except you will have to carry the canister of Fuse to a designated spot before the canister explodes. Whoever plays Jacob should carry the canister, as you will be moving into close quarters, which is not Jacobs forte. Dalton should take point and do everything in his power to keep enemies away from the canister and it's carrier. Izzy should be sticking with the carrier and throwing down a Med Beacon every few feet to keep the group alive. Naya's role is much the same, if the group runs into an obstacle they can't pass, she should be cloaking behind enemy lines and dismantling their defense.

Wave 6 and 12 are boss waves that throw either a Leadfoot/Leadfire/Leadshot or an Enforcer. In my experience, I have run into one instance where we fought two Enforcers at once. So be ready for anything.

The maps are just generic levels that are recycled from the main game and are more aesthetic then anything, they don't effect anything in the combat aside from cover and drop locations.

There's only two conditions for a 5 Star rating. It depends on how many waves you have survived, and how long it took to complete those waves. So just remember that you may complete an Echelon mission, but not get a 5 star rating. However, you may fail on a particular mission and still get 5 stars. So all you have to do is work fast and succeed. It does not matter if a player goes down, it has nothing to do with the star rating.

However, there is a multiplier that will increase as you stay alive during each round. This multiplier holds no bearing on the star rating as far as I know, but it does increase the amount of Fuse Credits you get when you complete bonuses for each wave.

[top]
We're Gonna Need a Mop
Eviscerate 3 enemies at once using the MagShield.

This is rather simple. Dalton's Magshield comes with a burst that kills all weak enemies in one shot. Just hold your shield out with , walk up to a large group, and fire with . And that's all there is to it. You will need to use this technique later in the game to kill large groups that rush you, which is rare, but is bound to happen. So be prepared for it.

[top]
Chain Gang (of Dead Guys)
Create a chain reaction that takes out 3 enemies at once.

Naya's Warp Rifle creates wormholes that traps an enemy and carries him away... to god knows where. But this can create a chain reaction that does the same to other enemies in close proximity to the original target. Just keep firing at the one guy standing in the middle of a huge crowd, and enjoy the show.

A good place to nab this is in Mission 1 - Checkpoint 2: Future Proofing. You'll come to a room with two guards directly in front of you and two on the balconies to the right and left of you, just up some ladders. This room will be swarming with snipers, and you'll know them by their very annoying red laser sights.

Anyway, after you've put the Fuse Cell in the generator, you will need to turn around and head to an elevator. This elevator contains 4-5 enemies. They don't seem to leave the elevator if you shoot at them. Run to cover, and lay into the guy at the center of the elevator. And keep laying into him until all of them are bye bye.

[top]
Shots Fired!
Pin 3 enemies within a 10 second period.

This can be done in MANY areas of the game. All that must be there for this to be successful, is a wall. You need to have all the enemies grouped together near a wall behind them. Now the problem with this trophy is that it takes about two shots to pin an enemy to a wall. By the time you shoot an enemy, they will duck into cover before you can hit them for a second time. Which isn't a problem for the first kill, but it is essential that all enemies are pinned within 10 seconds. And they can sit in cover for a while now.

So really it's all based on luck in some cases, but it can be done. A good idea is to make sure the enemies at medium range. The quicker the bolt flies through the air, the more successful your attempt will be. I want to advise that you aim for the head, as it does more damage, however I noticed it doesn't pin enemies to a wall as well if you had just shot them in the center mass.

[top]
The Geologist
Crystallize and kill 3 enemies at once.

Izzy's weapon is similar to Naya's, in that it is mainly used for crowd control. However, Izzy's weapon encases enemies in melanite, which hold them there for about 10 seconds or so. Similarly to Naya's Warp Rifle, the best way to use Izzy's Shattergun is to shoot into the middle of a group, encasing all within close proximity in crystal. They will break free eventually however. Also, shooting one enemy in crystal, will only kill that one enemy, and not the whole group.

A good place to nab this in Mission 1 - Checkpoint 2: Future Proofing. You'll come to a room with two guards directly in front of you and two on the balconies to the left and right of you, just up some ladders.

Run to cover, and lay into the guy in the middle of the group, this will trap all of them. Now instead of continuing to shoot them, lob a grenade into the elevator That should kill all of them and the trophy should unlock.

[top]
Sh... Go to Sleep
Perform a stealth takedown on 2 enemies at once in a co-op game.

Throughout the game there are several moments where the game sets up a room where you are encouraged to stealth kill as many enemies as possible. For this trophy you must play with at least one other player. Both of you will get into position behind an enemy and stealth kill him at relatively the same time. The window of time is pretty generous.

One moment in particular is in the very beginning of Mission 4. You are tasked with infiltrating a military base deep in the mountains of Pakistan. You have to climb rock faces until you reach some pipes. Climb up those pipes and there will be two guards standing right next to each other. Both of you choose a target and stealth kill them.

Ninja Style
Stealth takedown 4 enemies at once in a four player co-op game.

This trophy is actually very simple and quick to obtain. In Mission 1 - Checkpoint 2: Future Proofing, you will come to a room with several snipers and a buttload of Raven soldiers. This room is easy to identify, because there will be two soldiers with their backs turned directly in front of you, and one on a balcony to the left and one on the right.

Obviously, this must be obtained playing with 3 other people, since the AI isn't competent enough for such a coordinated event. Anyway, all of you will choose a target and get in behind them. Once you do that, begin a vocal countdown (If you all have mics, and you should) and stealth kill all of them. The window is fairly generous so don't worry too much. And if you mess it up, just load up the checkpoint again, since it's early in that particular section.

One thing to note, is that the sniper on the right balcony has his back turned in a strange way, making it a little bit more difficult to kill. So, before you initiate the attack, make sure all players see a prompt above their heads. Don't worry about being spotted, as the enemies never turn their backs unless you make a load nose (sprinting, gunshots, etc)

Groom Lake
Retrieve your Xenotech Weapons.

This is most likely the first trophy you will get. Very early on into the first Mission, you will be walking through a facility that is experimenting with a material called "Fuse". Before you face any enemies you will walk through the facility and see the weapons being used to get a handle on what they do. This will happen before you face any real enemies. You will "fight" an Enforcer, but his aim is worse than a blindfolded Stormtrooper.

Once all the weapons are demonstrated you will come to the prototype holding area, and each character will pick up their weapon. Ding!

Keep on Truckin'
Destroy all of the trucks at the bunker defense.

Simple enough. On the final checkpoint of Mission 3, you will be tasked with taking over a Raven infested base. Once that is finished, you must defend said base from hoards of soldiers. Once they are all dealt with, man one of the turrets and destroy the 4 trucks in the vicinity.

You May Want to Stand Back
Activate Fusion for the first time.

Fusion is the final Tier of the Skill Tree for each character. You will get it around Level 30, If you've been upgrading EVERYTHING before moving onto the next Tier, which you should be doing.

Fusion is a mechanic that allows you to become invincible, and gives you unlimited ammo for a short period of time (10 seconds it seems). This can be very useful in a firefight when the battle seems lost. When you get XP, it also charges your Fusion Meter. Once it's full, just press and enjoy being unstoppable.

You can, and should, upgrade the skill tree further to give your entire team even more bonuses (Reviving fallen team members, extra critical damage, etc)

The Inspector
Collect every piece of Intel in the game.

There are only 53 Intel items in the game for you to collect. They are scattered throughout all 6 missions. Each piece of Intel will fill you in on characters backgrounds, locations, equipment, enemies, etc. The game has them all cataloged by category, instead of where you find them. This effectively renders it useless in your hunt. It does show how many you have per category, but again, it's useless if you don't know what mission to look for them in.

Luckily PowerPyx stepped up and has recorded all of the Intel for each mission. Each of which, you can watch below

Bro Code Violation
Perform a stealth takedown on the Raven soldier at the urinal.

This trophy is more quirky than it is challenging. In Mission 2 your first objective is to reclaim your Xenotech weaponry. You'll come to a drop from a vent that lands you behind a guard standing in front of a toilet. Simply walk up behind him and use a stealth kill. Congrats, you just caught the enemy with their pants down... figuratively and literally.

I'm Your Huckleberry
Kill 3 Leadfires, Leadfoots or Leadshots using only your sidearm.

Leadshots, Leadfires, and Leadfoots are the gigantic enemies who have weapons that rival their enormous size. Leadfoots use Chain guns, Leadfires use flamethrowers, and Leadshots use rocket launchers. All are incredibly deadly on higher difficulties. For this trophy you must kill 3 of any kind, you do not need to kill one of each.

The easiest to take down is the Leadfire and is in fact the first type you run into. Just run around his backside and shoot the Fuse tank on his back. Doing so will cause more damage and has a chance to stagger him. If he starts targeting you, he will attack with his flamethrower, which will set you on fire. The reason he is easy, is because simply rolling will put out the flames. So rolling around when being targeted will mitigate most damage he deals to you.

Another to note is that this is more difficult in Single Player, for the simple fact that you must be the one to land the killing blow, and the AI will not stop shooting until they are dead. So an easy strategy is to load up a mission that consists of these enemies and do it with friends. That way they can help chisel down their health, but stop shooting so you can finish him off.
