[top]Tips & Strategies

Extra Chests:

There will be extra chests you should grab anyways to get more red orbs but if you missed a feather or eye, here are some more opportunities. Both authors of this guide have received their trophies for feathers and eyes and are not 100% sure on which of these chests contain what items.

The extra white chests that will contain will contain a Gorgon Eye or Phoenix Feather:

Chapter 21 - The Forearm of Apollo
  • After using the Stone of Orkos to access a grapple point, swing across to the next platform and you will be faced with a few waves of enemies to beat. Defeat all of the enemies and you will notice this chest in the upper left corner behind a cage. Head up and around the area to the platform up above. There will be a green/blue flashing chest here and a grapple point ahead. Grapple the ledge ahead and use the Stone of Orkos to continue holding the ledge. Drop back down and run to the corner where the gate had lifted and exposed the chest.
  • After fighting the Cerebrus, a bunch of dogs and the crazy spear lady you will have to use your Stone of Orkos and Amulet of Uroborus to put the giant chain link back together to climb up to the ledge ahead. Once on the ledge hop up on the ledge to your right and follow that up to the chest.

Playing on Hard
:

Playing the game on Hard is a necessity for platinum but thankfully Hard Difficulty isn't really all that bad. Learn the moves of the bosses and learn to evade and attack between the boss' attacks. The normal enemies in the game seem to be the biggest threat. Luckily though the game is very generous with checkpoints so you shouldn't have much of any trouble. The best thing to do if you are really having trouble is to abuse our grapple throws. You are invincible while grabbing an enemy and throwing an enemy knocks back a lot of other enemies, while it may take a bit longer then fighting normally this can get you out of some sticky situations. Have patience and enjoy the game, there isn't much that should frustrate you too much.

Missable Trophies:

Yes there is Chapter Select but Chapter Select isn't for collectibles. Chapter Select in this game is rather awkward. Whenever you start a chapter using Chapter Select you will start it as you did when you first started the chapter, meaning if you go back 5 chapters to grab a collectible then the progress in the last 5 chapters will not appear in the chapter you selected, your weapons and collectibles will be as they were when you first started that mission. This means if you are 1 Gorgon Eye from the trophy and at the end of the game you will have to go back to where you missed one and collect IT and every one after. In essence the only thing Chapter Select is good for is chapter based trophies you may have missed. While the Chapter Select sucks, New Game + will lock out trophies so attempting to finish clean up for upgrading Kratos in this mode will leave you needing a whole new playthrough from scratch.

[top]Cheats, Glitches & Exploits

Glitch - There may be problems with Lubed up unlocking. I did four successful and flawless attempts and the trophy would not unlock afterward. On my fifth attempt it unlocked, but after nearly one minute of waiting. Keep this in mind if it doesn't unlock for you.

Patch update (v.1.03) - This may please those of you having trouble with the Trials of Archimedes. Source taken directly from the God of War website:

Though small this 1.03 update may be, we addressed an issue that was preventing some players from progressing past the Manticore battle in Chapter 27. We have also addressed the Trial of Archimedes:

We received extensive feedback from the community that the “Trial of Archimedes” section (Chapter 28) near the end of the game was excessively challenging. In every God of War game, establishing a well-paced difficulty ramp towards the end of the game is paramount to us. Based on player response, the degree of challenge offered here was short of our goal of being perfectly balanced.

In the 1.03 update, at the end of each elevator stage (3 total), players will now receive a measured amount of Green Health Orbs and a nominal amount of Blue Magic Orbs back. This change affects all difficulty levels. We are confident this revision will address feedback regarding “Trial of Archimedes” while still preserving the level of challenge appropriate for this late section of the game.

[top]Roadmap

Campaign

With the exception of the lone multiplayer trophy, all of the games trophies are earned throughout the campaign. Unless you want to play through the campaign twice, select "hard" difficulty which will unlock both Bond Broken and Legendary Warrior upon completion. If you're using this guide while playing, you should unlock all trophies at the end of the game. If not, head to step 2.

Clean-up

If you missed any of the miscellaneous trophies not directly related to the story, then it's time to get them out of the way. Load your profile and choose chapter select, referencing the trophies you need with the appropriate chapter. As soon as you get a trophy you need, you can quit back to the main menu; you don't need to hit a save point.

Multiplayer

This step can be swapped with step 1, depending if you plan on actually playing the multiplayer portion of the game or not. The games multiplayer is actually quite good, so if you see yourself investing some time with it, I advise leaving Blood Oath for last. All you need to complete is the training tutorial, which takes roughly 5 minutes, so it's your choice if you want to start with it or leave it for last.

Champion of the Gods
Unlock all Trophies

To become a Champion of the Gods, a mortal must earn all trophies in his quest. Only then will the platinum be yours, warrior.

[top]
Blood Oath
Complete the MP Training in Olympus

You MUST have the God of War: Ascension Online Pass to obtain this trophy.

From the main menu press right and highlight the multiplayer option. When you start up multiplayer for the first time you will see a cutscene and be brought to the Rotunda of Olympus. Walk forward and replenish your health in the green fountain as directed. After that you will be told to select an allegience. Here is a list of the Allegiances and their perks:
  • Ares
    • Warrior - Dominant Physical Powers
    • Fire Magic - Damage Over Time and Disable Enemy Defenses
    • Ares Items - Enhance Melee Combat

  • Hades
    • Assassin - Stealth
    • Soul Magic - Drains Vitality from Opponents
    • Hades Items - Reduce Cooldowns and Increase Mobility

  • Zeus
    • Battle Mage - Impressive Elemental Powers
    • Electric Mage - Stun Opponents and Disable Enemy Magics
    • Zeus Items - Improve Defense and Escape

  • Poseidon
    • Support - Resilient to Damage
    • Water Magic - Decrease Mobility and Freeze Opponents
    • Poseidon Items - Increase Defense and Increase Team Ability

Once you align yourself with one of the gods you will receive a weapon and have to start your training. Walk to the center and the game will ask you if you want to "Test Your Might"; select "Yes". A dummy will enter the arena and you will have to preform specific offensive and defensive moves against the AI. Once you are requested to fight to the death kill your opponent, you will be told you have completed the tutorial afterward and a gate out of the multiplayer selection will open where you first came from. You will now be asked if you want to learn the Advanced Techniques. You may learn these techniques if you wish but they are not necessary for this trophy. Once you are ready, head to the portal in the beginning where you started and you will be asked if you would like to leave; select "Yes". Once you leave you will be awarded this trophy.

Prison Break
Free Kratos from his imprisonment

Story-related and cannot be missed.

This is the first trophy you'll unlock in the campaign, and comes after the interrogation and mild beating by one of the Fury's while Kratos is chained. When her arms glow blue, dodge in the opposite direction. Once you're free of one of your shackles, use or to execute a few hits on her, but keep an eye out for her attacks. This is a brief mini-battle, and once you've hit her enough she'll pull Kratos from the wall, sending the two of you over the edge. Once you land on solid ground the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Gotta Hand It To You
Defeat the infected Hand of Aegaeon

Story-related and cannot be missed.

This boss only looks tough. During the first sequence, simply spam your attacks and combos. Roll to evade its swipe and ground attacks, all the while attacking as much as you can. Once its had enough, a grab prompt will appear over its head followed by a button prompt mini-game. On to the second sequence. Here you'll be fighting the Aegaeon with it perched above you. Double jump and attack to hit it. When it swings one of its claws over toward one side of the screen, quickly run into either of the gaps to avoid being hit. When it rears back with both claws and strikes the middle area, double jump out of the way or use the gaps. Your best opportunity to inflict maximum damage is when it uses one of its claws to spear one of the gaps. It will be stuck for a few seconds, providing you ample time to string together a few combos. The grapple prompt will appear after its had enough, and once you complete the button prompt mini-game the trophy will unlock.

Unleashed
Throw, Slam and Ram a grappled enemy

This is an easy trophy to obtain. The trophy wants you to use the most of your grappling ability by using each variation of your grapple. There are only a few different variations of the grappling technique. Here are the different variations you must perform:
  1. Throw - Grapple the enemy with and use while holding onto the enemy. This will take the enemy and throw him at other enemies.
  2. Slam - Grapple the enemy with and use while holding the enemy. This will take the enemy and throw him up to slam him back down.
  3. Ram - Grapple the enemy with and use while holding the enemy. This will make Kratos ram into the enemy sending it flying back

Once you have used all three of these variations on an enemy the trophy will unlock.

* NOTE - In order for this trophy to unlock you must perform each variation of the grab on a single enemy. This may be harder on the easier difficulties against the weaker enemies but will not be a problem on most smaller enemies on Hard difficulty.

Big Spender
Upgrade any Magic to the next level

An easy trophy that can be earned after acquiring the Fire of Ares in chapter 5, The Village of Kirra. It only costs 1,000 orbs to upgrade the Fire of Ares to level 2 and, so long as you've been cracking open those red orb chests, this shouldn't be a problem.

Round and Round
Solve the Rolling Crusher Puzzle

Chapter 5 - The Village of Kirra

After falling through the bridge that collapses on you, defeat the hounds and harpies and head to the bottom and go right. Follow the path around, through a doorway, and down a long tunnel. After the cutscene, keep running and head down the circular path. You'll come to a bunch of wooden planks on your left that you'll have just enough time to destroy and jump across the gap before the wheels come back around. Now, pull the 3 levers (you'll probably have to pull the one on your right again) to temporarily jar the wheels. Jump back across the gap and run up to the stone stairs at the top and up onto the ledge. Pull the lever at the top to permanently make everything stop, and the trophy will unlock.

Open Minded
Win the Buttonless MiniGame against a Juggernaut

You'll first encounter the Juggernauts at the start of chapter 5, The Village of Kirra. These elephants on steroids aren't very fast, but their attacks do a lot of damage, so be prepared to dodge out of harms way. Once you've attacked it enough, a red grapple icon will appear over its head. Grapple it and proceed to repeatedly hit either or to stab it. There's a brief moment of slow motion during its attack, and that's your cue to dodge. Keep attacking and eventually you'll have its head split wide open. Nothing like a little brain matter to go along with your trophy.

Can't Stop, Won't Stop. BadBoy!
Perform a 1000 Hit Combo

There is virtually nowhere in this game when playing on Hard that there are enough enemies to do a 1,000 hit combo on. You can attempt it anywhere you want but a spot you can get this without any difficulty or fear of losing the combo is the very beginning of chapter 19, The Foot of Apollo. At the very start go up to the giant rock up ahead with the grapple point on it and press up on the D-Pad to switch to Lightning of Zeus. Go up to the wall and use the + attack over and over again until you reach 1,000. You are only going to be hitting for 4 in your combo each time you use the attack so you will be there for quite some time. Once you reach 1,000 the trophy will unlock.

Swinger
Ring out an enemy with the Club

The best place to get this trophy is right at the beginning of chapter 10, The Temple of Delphi, during the fight against the cerberus. Make sure you grab the club outside the large door before entering the arena. What you need to do is wait for it to spawn the small hellhounds. Now, if none are near the edges, grapple one with and throw it toward either the right or left edge. Follow it over and hit it with the club and it should go flying over the edge. If it doesn't, try the same tactic on another hellhound. It might take a couple of tries, but overall it's not hard.

For an alternate method, check out the video below.

Snakes on a Train
Ride the snake back to the Tower of Delphi

Story-related and cannot be missed.

The main goal of Chapter 8, The Python's Belly, is to ride the 3 snakes around the environment where they will eventually loop back to the large tower and turn one of the 3 cranks. When you get to areas where enemies spawn on the snake, dispatch them quickly (throwing them over the edge works great for an insta-kill). You'll also come across grapple sections quite frequently that will take you from one side of the snake to the other. As soon as all 3 snakes have turned the cranks and activated the top of the tower, the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Tools of the Trade
Use All 5 World Weapons in Combat

Though these 5 weapons appear frequently throughout the game, here are the first times you will come across them:
  1. Sword - Chapter 1: Prison of the Damned. As you are pursuing the Fury, this will appear directly in front of your path. Impossible to miss.
  2. Club - Chapter 5: Village of Kirra. Directly in front of you as soon as you enter.
  3. Javelin - Chapter 5: Village of Kirra. After you cross the rope to the upper platform, it will be right in front of you.
  4. Sling - Chapter 5: Village of Kirra. In plain sight, not too far after acquiring the Javelin.
  5. Shield - Chapter 7: Tower of Delphi. After sliding down the ice tunnel, you will encounter shielded enemies. Grapple them with and repeatedly press to strip them of their shields.

All weapons are useful, especially depending on the situation you're in. The sword is great all-around, and can perform a deadly combo simply by holding down . The club hits hard, but is slow in swinging. Hold and release to pound the ground and damage all enemies in the vicinity. The javelin and sling are great long-range weapons, but can also be helpful up close if you're in a jam. The shield is great for crowd control and giving you a bit of space.

Note: Each weapon has a super move that can be performed by pressing +. This move inflicts heavy damage, but also permanently discards the weapon so use it wisely.

Hot Lunch
Win the Buttonless MiniGame against a Manticore

After unlocking Snakes on a Plane and climbing back to the top of the tower, you'll encounter this beast. During its first phase it relies heavily on air and fire attacks. Personally, I found it best to use the Lightning of Zeus here and hit it with the + combo as much as possible. This inflicts a lot of damage and in no time he'll go down. Grapple him and keep attacking while dodging the fire attacks (watch for the slow-mo sequence) and you'll bring him back down to the ground, ripping one of his wings off.

For the second and final phase, immediately switch to Fire of Ares. If you've been collecting the Phoenix Feathers as outlined in the guide so far, you should have 2 full bars of magic available. Hit it twice with magic to severely cripple it. It might spit out a few harpies, but they're nothing of concern. Keep attacking the Manticore with combos and the kill prompt will soon appear over its head. Grapple and attack it with either or , but keep an eye out for its tail, which will try and pierce Kratos from behind. As before, there is a split-second of slow-motion giving you time to dodge out of the way. Continue attacking and the Manticore will get a taste of its own medicine, and you'll get the trophy.

Alternate location: Near the end of chapter 26, The Eyes of Apollo, you will grapple a Manticore in mid-flight and take it down with you where you will have to do battle with it. If you didn't get this trophy as mentioned above, you can get it here too.

Gateway Gas
Breathe the toxic gases within the Oracle's Temple

Story-related and cannot be missed.

After you defeat the cerberus at the start of chapter 10, The Temple of Delphi, head to the top and pull out the staircase. Walk up and head down the left path and toward the glowing green statue. This will cause Kratos to inhale the toxic gas, and everything around him will become decayed. Now head over to the large center door and smash it open before the gas wears off to proceed. The trophy will unlock immediately afterward.

[top]
Handyman
Reconstruct the Water Wheel of Kirra

Story-related and cannot be missed.

Once you acquire the Amulet of Uroborus in chapter 12, you'll begin backtracking through the game and revisiting old areas. At the end of chapter 14, The Cistern, you'll be back at the large water wheel again. From here, what you need to do is use the amulet until it reaches a pause moment. This particular moment will leave the large piece of wood suspended in the air just behind the pulley on the ground. Jump down and grapple and pull the pulley all the way back. Once you let go, use the amulet to completely decay the area. This will wedge the large piece in the ground and keep the pulley in place. Now jump back on the water wheel and fully heal it. Once you reach the top, jump onto the stone ledge and heal the area. This will allow the water to flow, thus repairing the water wheel and giving you the trophy.

[top]
Hold Still Please
Slow 100 Enemies with the Amulet of Uroborus

The Amulet of Uroborus can be a real life-saver in large battles or against stronger enemies. Hold down to highlight an enemy and press to slow and levitate them. You can use this strategy to get some extra hits in, or if you want to get a particular enemy off your back briefly and focus on other enemies. I highly recommend spending the 5,000 orbs to upgrade the amulet as soon as possible, as doing so will not only decrease the cooldown time, but also create a wider affected area, making it possible to slow more than one enemy. Try using this during every battle encounter, and you should reach 100 before the end of the game.

If you didn't achieve this trophy by the end of the game, go to chapter select and choose chapter 29, The Fury Citadel. After getting over the wall at the start of the level, you'll face off against two green spider-like women. Focus on one and kill it. Leave the remaining one alive, and spam the amulet move over and over until you unlock the trophy.

That's Gonna Leave a Mark
Spill 500 buckets of blood on Kratos

Your goal here is really quite simple - kill, kill, kill! I managed to unlock this trophy just after acquiring the Fire of Ares in chapter 5, so don't fret as this will unlock through natural game progression.

You Bastards!
Treat the Martyr of Hecatonchires poorly

Kratos really is a bastard for doing this, as it's completely unnecessary to get across to the platform up above. Start by opening the iron maiden-like device in front of you to release the body. Now head to the upper part of the screen and use your amulet to decay the mechanism. Grapple the body above you and drag it back to, and in front of, the device you just opened. Head through the newly opened area and press to ride the lift up. Exit and double jump onto the cage, causing it to come crashing down and ripping the imprisoned body to pieces. There's your trophy, you sick bastard.

Hello, Friend
Use the Oath Stone of Orkos in Combat 10 Times

Once you acquire the Oath Stone of Orkos and witness its potential during the tutorial, you'll want to use it all the time - and you should. Using it in a large crowd can absolutely devastate your enemies, and once it's upgraded it will do even more damage, last longer, and reduce the cooldown time. When upgraded, you can use it in a crowd and half the time not even attack an enemy yourself - the Oath Stone Kratos will completely obliterate the enemies, leaving you unscathed. You only need to use the stone 10 times to earn the trophy, but I guarantee you'll be using it a lot more than that throughout the latter half of the game.

Tell Me How You Really Feel
Kill 25 Enemies using the Rage of the Gods

First you need to unlock the Rage of the Gods, and you do so by leveling up your weapons. Each weapon will tell you what the next upgrade is, so keep that in mind when upgrading.

Once unlocked, you need to successfully land attacks in quick succession to fill the Rage meter in the bottom right corner. If you lose momentum in your attacks, the meter will slowly deplete. If you get hit, the meter will deplete. Successful blocks and parries will not drain the meter, so keep your finger on if you're unsure of an enemy's attack pattern. When the meter is full, it will flash; press + to active your Rage attack. It doesn't matter which of the four elements you use the Rage attack with, so long as it kills the enemy. Keeping that in mind, try not to use it on an enemy who has just spawned with full health, as it will most likely not kill him.

Personally, I used the Souls of Hades Rage attack most often, as it swarms multiple enemies and greatly increases your chances of getting a kill or multiple kills.

Biting the Hand that Feeds You
Defeat Megaera and the Titan Hecatonchires

Story-related and cannot be missed.

This epic battle starts off on a large platform that the Hecatonchires is holding onto from the background. Two large claws with purple cores will come into view behind you, and that's what you need to focus on. To make things harder, a half dozen enemies will constantly respawn to try and stop you. Attack them if they're in your way, but don't let them distract you from your objective. Spartan's Revenge (+) and Cyclone of Fury (hold ) are great tactics to give yourself some space.

Once you've done enough damage to the claws, the battle will shift to another area, with the claws of the Hecatonchires on your left and another infected hand of Aegaeon on your right. The Aegaeon is your focus here. It doesn't attack a lot, but when it does simply roll back to avoid damage. When it retreats, move in and attack relentlessly. This will continue for a couple minutes, and afterward a grapple prompt will appear over the Aegaeon, with you riding on the back of its neck and stabbing it to inflict damage on the Hecatonchires itself. The final stage involves battling the Fury you've been chasing around. Keep attacking her with either or and dodge her attacks. It doesn't take much to kill her, and the trophy will unlock shortly afterward.

Maybe you should call a Doctor?
Keep the Rage Meter Filled for 2+ Minutes

This can be a hard trophy to unlock for a couple of reasons. First, group attacks are usually engaged by weaker enemies, so they'll die before you even come close to 2 minutes. Second, there simply aren't enough enemies around or if there are, they're usually the stronger and faster ones. The longest I kept my Rage meter filled was about a minute and a half, and then all the enemies died. The best way to get this trophy out of the way is to use the method in the video below. It's cheap, but it works.

Quaid!!!
Defeat Pollux

Story-related and cannot be missed.

First off, this is an awesome trophy name. For those of you old enough to remember the original Total Recall film, you'll appreciate the reference.

This is the first boss to offer some serious challenge, in my opinion. He's always teleporting and his attacks are fast. You'll probably spend the first while blocking to study his moves. Whenever you get the chance, break the surrounding pillars and throw the large rocks at him to inflict significant damage. Much of this battle you need to be patient and play more on the defensive, as going entirely offensive will only get your ass handed to you. Block his attacks when he's teleporting and get in a few strikes when he's done. When you see areas of the ground lit up in a green circle, make sure you're nowhere near or in it.

Eventually he'll move to the top of the columns, firing magic bolts at you. Jump around them and knock down each column he appears on. After breaking down 3 of them he'll remain on the ground and you'll basically be repeating the same steps mentioned above. Remember to throw those stone pillar pieces at him. When he's had enough, grapple him and follow the mini-game prompts to "temporarily" defeat him. Now you have to deal with that nasty Quaid growth in his stomach. The good thing is he's a lot weaker and relies more on magic than physical attacks, which can be easily blocked or dodged. He will use physical attacks if you get close enough, so be careful and get ready to dodge out of the way. Also, the same rule of breaking and throwing the pillars at him applies here too. Eventually he'll give up, prompting another grapple and mini-game. Once you succeed and crush the disgusting growth, the trophy will unlock.

Tip: Don't forget about your magic. It's there for a reason and comes in handy during this fight.

[top]
Bros before Foes
Escape the Fury Ambush

Story-related and cannot be missed.

This dual battle first starts off with Kratos facing off against Megaera, the Fury Kratos was chasing at the beginning of the game. Her attacks are all physical, and they're extremely predictable. You can either dodge out of the way, or try to parry them. When she's not attacking, unleash your strongest combos on her. She likes using mind tricks though, and will spawn spartan warriors to aid her. They are incredibly weak, but don't let them distract you from Megaera. When she retreats to the rooftops and summons more spartans, switch to the Souls of Hades as any completed combo will send the souls after her and damage her (same goes for the Fury meter). Continue this pattern until the red grapple prompt appears over her head. Engage the mini-game, and get ready for round two.

This second phase starts with a different Fury, but will soon turn into a tag-team as Megaera joins the battle. Megaeras attacks are still the same physical ones from before, so deal with her as usual. For the other Fury, she relies heavily on air attacks. When she fires off multiple ground eruptions run in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction, so that you will end up back at her position when the attacks are done. Unload combos on her, but watch out for Megaera. She will attempt to intervene; simply roll out of harms way. Keep this pattern up, mixing up attacks with magic attacks, and eventually the grapple prompt will appear. Unlike previous grapple mini-games, these ones throw in half-circular rotations of the left analog stick, so keep that in mind. Once you beat the pulp out of the last Fury, another Fury will intervene and end the fight. Watch the cutscene and the trophy will unlock afterward.

[top]
Fireproof
Complete the Screw of Archimedes without getting hit by the Fire Traps

This trophy isn't that hard so long as you remember two things - use your magic, and take out the general with the sledgehammer as soon as possible. Once you use the Oath Stone of Orkos on one of the two pressure plates, the enemies will start spawning. Deal with the weaker ones as you have previously in the game, and once the general appears, start spamming your magic attacks. Both the Fire of Ares and Lightning of Zeus magic work great, but the Fire of Ares will give you more breathing room after it's done. As for weapon choice, I opted for the Souls of Hades and using the + combo, as this pushes the enemies back. Just remember to keep your distance and watch for the flames. If you do get hit by the flames, pause the game and restart the checkpoint. Once you make it to the top, kill any remaining enemies and the trophy will unlock.

Light as a Feather
Collect all of the Phoenix Feathers

You'll come across a lot of these throughout the game. Completing a set of five will increase your overall magic by one third. In order to unlock the trophy you need to max out your magic meter, which equals 15 Phoenix Feathers. Any chests you find after getting the trophy that would normally contain Phoenix Feathers will now yield red orbs. A nice tradeoff, as you can use these orbs toward leveling up your weapons.

Chapter 5: The Village of Kirra
  • As soon as you enter, go right and follow the path to the end.
  • After your first encounter with the two Juggernauts, take the lower path to where the moveable crate is. Without moving it, jump on top and up to the balcony on your right. The Feather is inside next to a red orb chest.
  • Refer to Round and Round. The Feather is right in front of the lever on the top platform.

Chapter 6: The Cistern
  • After the cutscene with Kratos riding the giant snake, grapple and scale the wall of the giant column. When you get inside, head down the spiral staircase. The chest is at the bottom.

Chapter 8: The Python's Belly
  • After obtaining the Lightning of Zeus and jumping back up to the top of the snake, head left. The Feather is in between 2 red orb chests.

Chapter 10: The Temple of Delphi
  • After defeating the Cerberus and the dogs upon entering the Temple the gates will lower and there will be red chests on either side of the room and a grapple point in the middle. use the grapple point after grabbing your red orbs and pull out the staircase. Once the stairs are pulled out you will be at a dead end. The only way you can go is to the left to where the gas is pouring out of a shrine. Head into the gas and head to the opposite side of the room where there is a breakable wall. On the other side of this breakable wall is a Phoenix Feather.
  • After unlocking Gateway Gas and watching the cutscene, step into the gas in front of you and smash open the door up the right path. Defeat the 2 enemies and grab the statue up ahead, dragging it back to the first doorway on your right. Push it all the way to the right, under the platform, and step into the gas. This will prevent the platform from falling, and you can jump up and get the chest on the adjacent platform.
  • Same as above, except this time you want to smash open the door up the left path. Defeat the siren (use + to reflect its lightning shots back at it) and grab the statue up ahead, dragging it back to the first doorway on your left. Drag it onto the pressure plate and step into the gas. Kick the statue off the pressure plate and run up to the gate and, once the gas has worn off, you'll have just enough time to get through and open the chest. Pull the lever to open the gates again to leave.

Chapter 11: Delphi Catacombs
  • After defeating the two Tolo and climbing upstairs you will have to head to the right and pull the lever to go down. Once you go down keep heading onwards until you get to the part where you are standing on a chandelier and you have to grapple two snake heads which release the gas to traverse time. Head to the next chandelier from the one you are on and pull the next set of snake heads. Climb up the path and use the grapple and QTE to break through the door ahead. Once through the door stop and turn around. Run towards the camera to see a few chests, this Feather is in one of these chests.

  • After using the amulet to heal the prison, go forward and take a left at the fork in the road to get the chest.

Chapter 18: Delos Landing
  • After the giant tentacle grabs you and swings you into the next area, defeat the 2 enemies and then climb up the ledge. Go left along the ledge to the end and jump up onto the bridge. The chest is there along with 2 red orb chests.
  • Get to the point when you are fighting one of those spider-like creatures with the green legs with Harpy eggs all around the floor. Take out the creature and all of the eggs and Herpies that come out of them. Once they are all defeated go to the platform you can drag around and drag it to the platform all the way to the right where the giant chains are. hop up on the platform and break the chain. Hop down and push the lever until you can use the Amulet to heal the chain. Heal the chain and take the platform back to where you got it from. Push the lever all the way to the left now and run to the platform and push it in to jam the gears where you got the platform from. Now look to the left side of the gear in front of you. Use that to climb to a platform up and to your left where you will find this Feather.

Drop down and you will see this chest on the side of the room across from a Feather chest.
  • After getting to the conveyor belt you have to turn off to get geared platforms to start moving start heading the way you came from. Once you get halfway you will be trapped between two 'waterfalls' of lava traveling towards you on either end with enemies spawning in the middle. Once you defeat these enemies the lava will go away and you can continue down the stopped conveyor belt. Hop on the platform and ride it up. At the top you are supposed to jump forward to the next platform but instead jump backwards towards the screen to jump onto a platform with this chest on it.

Chapter 26: Eyes of Apollo
  • After dropping the grapple platform and knocking it off the giant diamond you are standing on, hop off and allow the diamond to raise. Once it has raised you will have to defeat a few waves of enemies. Once the enemies are all taken care of head to the right side of the room with the movable platform. The Eyes have It
Collect all of the Gorgon Eyes

You'll come across a lot of these throughout the game. Completing a set of five will increase your overall health by one quarter. In order to unlock the trophy you need to max out your health meter, which equals 20 Gorgon Eyes. Any chests you find after getting the trophy that would normally contain Gorgon Eyes will now yield red orbs. A nice tradeoff, as you can use these orbs toward leveling up your weapons.

Chapter 5: The Village of Kirra
  • As soon as you enter, go right and follow the path to the end.
  • In the area where you have to turn the crank, it's in the upper-right corner hidden behind the wheel.
  • After acquiring the Fire of Ares, progress past the bridge and defeat all the enemies that spawn. The Eye is on the roof of the house to your left.
  • After falling through the collapsed bridge, head to the bottom and go right. It's in the very first house at the top of the screen.
  • Refer to Round and Round. It's on the top platform next to the lever.

Chapter 6: The Cistern
  • After jumping on the large statue head and onto the adjacent walkway, head to your left to locate the chest.
  • After obtaining the Ice of Poseidon and heading through the gateway, the chest will be in plain site next to a health and magic chest.
  • When you reach the top of the spiral stairway, head left past the ladder leading up to find the chest in the far corner.

Chapter 7: The Tower of Delphi
  • After swinging across the 3 grapple points, head to your left and you'll see another grapple point on an upper ledge. The chest is there.

Chapter 8: The Python's Belly
  • After you obtain the Lightning of Zeus and exit to the top of the snake, head forward and jump down to the lower area. Now, head back (toward the screen) and follow the extremely long path all the way to the end to locate the chest.

On the other side of this breakable wall is a Gorgon Eye.

Run towards the camera to see a few chests, this Eye is in one of these chests.
  • Once you enter the room with the giant hourglass you will notice a round switch on the floor in front of you. Step on this switch and a gate in the left rear and right rear of the room will open. As soon as you step off the switch the door in the left rear of the room will close but not the right rear one. Head into the right rear of the area to see a cubby with a switch and orb chest opposite from it. Flip the switch and it will allow gas to flow through a nearby statue. Run to the statue and inhale the gas to make time alter. Run back into the cubby and destroy the wall behind the switch and orb chest to reveal a little path. Head down the path to this Gorgon Eye and a more orbs.

Chapter 14: The Cistern
  • As soon as the chapter starts, run along the stone bridge to the very end for the chest.

Chapter 15: The Grotto
  • At the start of the chapter, submerge into the water and swim to your immediate right through the narrow passage. When you reach the end, emerge from the water and jump onto the platform in front of you to get the chest.
  • Near the end of the chapter, when you enter the Harbour of Kirra, go all the way to your left and then straight up to get the chest.

Chapter 17: Martyr's Chamber
  • After solving the puzzle at the beginning of the chapter, jump across the chasm and go right to get the chest.

Chapter 18: Delos Landing
  • After the giant tentacle grabs you and swings you into the next area, defeat the 2 enemies and then climb up the ledge. Go right a little ways along the ledge to locate the chest.
Use that to climb to a platform up and to your left where you will find this Eye.

Chapter 19: The Foot of Apollo
  • Near the end of the chapter, after fighting the 2 sirens, cross the zipline to the wooden platform. Go down the ladder on your left to get the chest.

Chapter 22: The Ribs of Apollo
  • After the lengthy platforming sequence in the beginning of the level you will eventually get to a platform where you have to climb a high ladder and jump across platforms that start swinging when you jump on one. Fully Loaded
Completely Upgrade Kratos

*NOTE - This trophy IS missable. There are no farming spots for red orbs late in the game and New Game+ blocks trophies so you have to get this in one playthrough. For this trophy you are going to need to obtain all weapons and use your red orbs to completely upgrade each of the weapons.

Here is a list of each weapon and its respective upgrade cost:
  • Blades of Chaos:
    • Level 1 - Default
    • Level 2 - 3,000 Orbs
    • Level 3 - 5,000 Orbs
    • Level 4 - 12,500 Orbs
    • Level 5 - 25,000 Orbs

  • Fire of Ares:
    • Level 1 - Default
    • Level 2 - 1,000 Orbs
    • Level 3 - 3,000 Orbs

  • Ice of Poseidon:
    • Level 1 - Default
    • Level 2 - 1,250 Orbs
    • Level 3 - 1,750 Orbs
    • Level 4 - 2,000 Orbs
    • Level 5 - 4,000 Orbs

  • Lightning of Zeus:
    • Level 1 - Default
    • Level 2 - 1,000 Orbs
    • Level 3 - 2,000 Orbs
    • Level 4 - 3,000 Orbs
    • Level 5 - 4,000 Orbs

  • Soul of Hades:
    • Level 1 - Default
    • Level 2 - 1,500 Orbs
    • Level 3 - 2,000 Orbs
    • Level 4 - 3,000 Orbs
    • Level 5 - 5,000 Orbs

  • Amulet of Uroborus:
    • Level 1 - Default
    • Level 2 - 5,000 Orbs

  • Oath Stone of Orkos:
    • Level 1 - Default
    • Level 2 - 5,000 Orbs

  • Eyes of Truth:
    • Level 1 - Default

To completely upgrade everything in a single playthrough you are really going to have to keep an eye out for any red chests and breakables you can use to obtain red orbs. You can also use the Poseidon Magic to increase orbs dropped from enemies who are frozen; this works best on weaker enemies. You will also want to collect all Gorgon Eyes and Phoenix Feathers as early as possible so you can use the remaining eye and feather chests as red orb chests, each granting 1,000 orbs. Keep an eye out when backtracking through certain levels you have already been through as the chests will refill while you were away. Also, destroy any chests you heal using the Amulet for more red orbs.

I was able to get this trophy before entering the Gauntlet of Archimedes after obtaining the Eyes of Truth with 9,000+ orbs to spare by collecting most of the chests noted in this guide and grabbing every red chest I found along the way and breaking everything I can and fighting using Poseidon Magic. So this trophy IS completely possible but still be wary as it is still missable.

Once everything is completely upgraded and you have unlocked all weapons this trophy is yours.

Complete the slide in the Statue of Apollo without dying

Note: This trophy may glitch on you. Refer to "Cheats, Glitches & Exploits" at the top of the guide for details.

Located in chapter 24, The Shoulder of Apollo, this section is pretty straight-forward. When sliding down the two figure eight loops at the start, either go left to right, or right to left. Don't try and stay in the same lane (left to left or right to right) or you'll die. The path ahead of you is clearly visible at all times, so you shouldn't have problems with navigating. There are also several jump prompts, but they give you ample time to execute them. The only part to watch for is near the end when the camera switches angles to Kratos' front. Here, stay on either the right or left side. If you stay in the middle, you'll get lava dumped on you and die. Once you reach the end, hit the button prompt to jump off and land back in the furnace. The trophy will unlock once you're on solid ground.

Use the Eyes of Truth successfully

Story-related and cannot be missed.

There isn't much explanation to this trophy. Once you start chapter 28, Trial of Archimedes, you will be in front of a caged statue bust that contains the Eyes of Truth. Run to the opposite side of the room to a door you can open. Open the door and and let the light in to open the cage around the bust. Once the cage has opened run in and grab yourself the Eyes of Truth.

Once you have grabbed the eyes the platform you are standing on will fall and drop you all the way down. Once at the bottom you will have to use the Eyes of Truth to reveal a switch you must grab to raise the platform. Once you have used the eyes for the first time here you will be rewarded with this trophy.

No Drake. You can't have these.
Collect all Artifacts in the game

For this trophy you will have to collect all 10 artifacts in the game. You can check which artifacts you have by pressing start in the game. Once in the upgrades menu press and you will be in the artifacts section where you can see which artifacts you have already.

Chapter 2 - The Sewers:
  • Prisoner's Oath Stone - After climbing out of the sewers and making your way to the landing above, head left to the switch that removes the gate from around the chain, and also releases the enemies from their prison. Defeat them, and then head into where they were imprisoned. The stone is on the ground in the upper-left by the gate. Be sure to grab this one before pulling down the large chain and opening the door to the right as it will trigger a checkpoint and lock out this artifact until you come back using Chapter Select.

Chapter 5 - Village of Kirra:
  • Circe's Vial - After your first encounter with the two Juggernauts, take the lower path to where the moveable crate is. Without moving it, jump on top and up to the balcony on your right. The Vial is inside next to a red orb chest.

Chaper 9 - Ice Caverns:
  • Oracle Seeker's Offering - Upon returning to the tower and earning Snakes on a Train, scale the tower again up to the spiral stairway. Head about halfway down and the artifact will be there.

Chapter 11 - Delphi Catacombs
  • Aletheia's Charm - After defeating the Hades summoners and using the toxic gas to get on the chandelier, grapple and swing the chandelier and jump on top of the hourglass. Now, jump across to the platform in front of you. The artifact is on the ground to your right.

Chapter 15 - The Grotto
  • Boat Captain's Idol - After using the amulet to decay the giant chain wheels and drop the gate, proceed forward as normal. When the game switches to a side-scrolling view, keep swimming until the camera starts to pan out. There is an upper and lower path here. Take the lower path and you'll see the artifact on the ground at the end of the path.

Chapter 16 - Prison of the Damned
  • Orkos' Cloak - After the cutscene displaying the Fury's trickery as a Spartan General, turn around and go slightly to the right of the health and magic chests. Just ahead, in front of a large window, is the artifact lying on the ground.

Chapter 21 - The Forearm of Apollo
  • Stonemason's Chisel - Once you have obtained the Stone of Orkos and are told how to use it while grappling an item you will have to use that ability to bring down an elevator. Get rid of the Orkos clone so the elevator goes up. Once up top you will be on a wooden platform. walk to your right and then start walking towards the screen. This artifact will be laying on the floor here opposite the side with the switch on the floor.

Chapter 23 - The Furnace
  • Archimedes' Treatise - After the fight with the cyclops and Harpies you will gain access to a gear you can turn. Turn the gear and jump to the platform across the way. One on the platform across the way follow that path up and around to the level above where you fought the Cyclopse. Head to the opposite side of the room and pick up this artifact directly to the left of the Red and Green Orb chests.

Chapter 25 - The Furnace
  • Statue Worker's Idol - Once you return to the Furnace and used the gears to bring the lantern up on the Statue of Apollo the platform you are standing on will start to rise and a fire will burn in the middle. To make this platform rise you will have to throw enemies into the fire in the center of the platform. Once you get the platform to the top defeat the remaining enemies. Once all enemies are defeated head to the left corner closest to the grapple point to find this artifact laying on the floor.

Chapter 28 - Trials of Archimedes
  • Antikythera Mechanism - Once you complete the Gauntlet of Archimedes you will find yourself back where you got the Eyes of Truth. Go to the rear of the room where the giant door is open and close it by grappling it. Go to the closed cage and use the Eyes of Truth on the handle to get rid of the Fury magic. Pull the cage around and face it towards the large Fury Magic portal. Once you have pulled it all the way use your Orkos stone to keep holding the lever while you run to the fury Magic portal and use the Eyes of Truth on it. head through the portal an if done correctly you will be back at the first room only the statue will be facing a door with a sun emblem on it and the platform you are standing on will lower. Once you get control of Kratos again head up to the cage containing the Eyes of Truth bust and go around the right side of it. This final artifact will be on the right side of the cage in the middle.

Next time use the stairs
Complete the Gauntlet of Archimedes

This is a story-related trophy and cannot be missed, no matter how hard it is.

dajmer79's tip: Have a pillow or something nearby that you can punch or scream into.

Located in Chapter 28: Trials of Archimedes.

This one is rather brutal even with all of Kratos' weapons fully upgraded. Supposedly there will be a patch making achieving this trophy and getting through this part a lot easier but for the meantime you are stuck with no checkpoints and no chests to refill orbs, enjoy!

The Gauntlet of Archimedes is much like the Labyrinth in God of War 3. You will be pit up against brutal enemies and your skills at God of War will be put to the test here. There are 3 floors to the Gauntlet and each one has its brutal enemies on it. Here is a method you can try to use to complete this gauntlet.

You are going to want to use your Fire Magic here as it does the most damage but watch how much magic you are using as you will need it in the later rounds. Conserve your magic as only floor one refills it and the very end of floor three. Keep in mind that any items such as the Stone of Orkos and the Amulet will completely recover any time you use magic, use that to your advantage.

Floor 1:
This will start out hard at the beginning when two Medusa spawn. There are two ways you can go about this. You can play it defensively and try to block most of their attacks and counter using + at the right moment to stun them. When a Medusa is stunned you can grab it and do some good damage to it while exploding the area around you with their gaze to turn everyone to stone. The other method is to rely heavily on your Stone of Orkos and Amulet. Use your Amulet every chance you get to slow down the enemies. Then immediately use the Orkos stone to get good damage in on your enemies while attacking. Once you take out the first Medusa another will appear and once you take out the second one a fourth one will appear accompanied by two Siren. When you are pit up against the two Siren and one or more Medusa use your magic once or twice to get some heavy damage on these guys. Don't forget your Amulet and Orkos stone though, keep using them to inflict damage to these guys. Focus on the Medusa but keep an eye on the Sirens so you can dodge their lightning bolt attacks (They will gather electricity under them to prepare for this attack and the attack ALWAYS comes in a wave of three bolts). Once the Medusa are taken out you can focus on the Sirens. As you defeat one another will join the fight for a total of four Sirens altogether. Take out the Sirens using any means you find fit but be careful not to use too much magic, you are going to want at least a good 2-3 blocks or more in the second fight. Try to kill all enemies here with a grapple finisher if you can so that your Magic Meter gets replenished by their blue orbs. Once you have overcome the hardest part of the gauntlet get ready for more rage and use the Eye to reveal the switch and grapple it to bring you to the next floor.

Floor 2:
This one isn't a great place to be fighting. as it is a narrow hallway and the enemies here are rather aggressive. As soon as the fight begins two crazy staff women appear. Shortly after they spawn 2 Harpies will spawn but watch out as killing them brings out two more one by one for a total of four Harpies to tend with while dealing with these two crazy staff women. The best method to use is to instantly use your Amulet on the enemy that spawns first. Right after that set off your Orkos stone to start doing damage to the one you slowed down. By this time the second staff enemy should appear. Use your magic to unleash a fire storm and connect the second part of this attack and this will kill one of the staff women instantly so you only have to deal with one. This may also take out a Harpy or two but when the magic is done immediately use your Amulet again on the other staff woman and the Orkos stone. While the staff women is getting her ass handed to her by your stone it is your chance to grapple the Harpies that remain and throw them off of the platform. The staff woman is really weak at this point so time your attacks and guard between attacks.Try hard to kill her with a grapple finisher to get some much needed Green Orbs. Once she is defeated the walls will start spraying fire one pillar at a time. There are five pillars and the flames shoot for the same duration and one after the other and start from the beginning again once they reach the end. Keep this in mind as you will need to be aware of these fires while taking out the last enemy. While the fire is spraying head to the side where you use the Eye of Truth. Harpies are going to spawn one by one so grab them as they spawn and throw them off the map. Once they are gone an Electric Elemental Talos will appear. Use your Eye of truth to knock him back if he tries to attack and slow him down using the Amulet. get him to go berserk and stay as far away from him as you can while avoiding the fires from the wall, it really isn't that hard. Repeat this same process until he is grapplable to finish him off. Once he is finished you have completed this floor and are on your way to the last floor. Use your Eye and grapple the lever to head up there.

Floor 3:
This floor is dangerous because getting knocked against the wall means big damage since the walls have spikes on them so be careful and try to note this while rolling around like a madman. As soon as the fight starts you will be faced against a Centaur but don't worry he is alone and should be able to be killed without much bloodshed on your part. The best way to take him out is to head to a corner far away from him and block. He will charge at you 99% of the time and it will do a QTE, press the right button and do some big damage to the Centaur and head to the opposite corner of the room and block again. Wait for him to charge and keep repeating this process, it is cheap but it is safe. After doing this several times he will get damaged and be brought to his knee, be careful as he likes to throw in a tricky attack here. Dodge it and keep repeating the same method until you have done it about 9-10 times. after that two little smacks should put the icon above his head for a QTE finisher. There will be four button prompts so make sure to hit them all to finish the Centaur off and get some very much needed Green orbs. Once he is taken out two wraiths will appear. If you have any Magic left I strongly advise you to use your amulet on these guys and then activate the Orkos stone, get a few hits in and use your magic. Even if you can only do it once these guys should take a beating from the onslaught you just gave them and at least one should have a grapple icon above their head. Grapple him to defeat him and get more blue orbs. Immediately use the Amulet again on the next guy because another wraith is going to spawn. This will slow them both down and give you time to activate your Orkos stone again. If you have enough magic then use it again and it should get the next guy in position for a grapple finish. Now its you and the final wraith one on one for the victory. Take him out using any remaining magic you have as this will be the last enemy for this area. Once he is defeated the game will save and you can finish taking the elevator up to the top.

Once you get back up to the top this well earned trophy will be yours to add to your collection.

If it ain't broke...
Reconstruct all of the Decayed Chests

You'll pass several of these chests early on in the game, but if you examine them with the game will tell you they are broken. There's nothing you can do about them until you reach chapter 12, The Oracle's Chamber, and acquire the Amulet of Uroborus. This amulet will allow you to heal and decay environmental objects which enable you to progress forward in the story. It also allows you to heal the broken chests, which you can then smash open for red orbs. The amulet always emits a blue aura whenever you are near something that can be healed or destroyed, so use that your advantage. Once you repair all 7 decayed chests, the trophy will unlock immediately afterward.

Chapter 13: Passage to Delphi
  • At the very start of the level you will receive the Amulet of Uroborus. Hop up on the broken bridge and get to the bridge on the left that isn't destroyed. Once on the bridge use the Amulet of Uroborus to Heal the broken bridge below and bring it up. Hop onto the newly reconstructed bridge and follow the bridge to the end. Do not get off near the end to go towards the Oracle. Once you get to the end there will be a chest at the end so use your Amulet of Uroborus to heal the chest. You are allowed to destroy the chest and get the orbs once you have healed it.

Chapter 14: The Cistern
  • After jumping down from the stone bridge at the start of the chapter, defeat the enemies that spawn and follow the main path. The chest is right in front of the doorway.
  • From the above chest, continue down the hall and take the path on your right. At the end go left, and the chest is there.
  • After killing the giant cyclops and the iron gates retract, head to your right to locate the chest.
  • After killing the giant cyclops and the game prompts you to heal the collapsed bridge, jump down first and follow the path down and to the right. The chest is sitting to the right of the small rope bridge.

Chapter 16: Prison of the Damned
  • After swinging across the multiple grapple points, head down the path and go right. The chest is through the open door.

Chapter 19: Foot of Apollo

Complete the game on Hard Difficulty

Unless you're new to the God of War franchise, this should be your starting difficulty. Not only will God of War veterans be used to the difficulty, but it will also save having to do a second playthrough as Bond Broken will unlock upon game completion too. With the exception of the lone multiplayer trophy, all trophies are technically achievable in one playthrough.

There are three key things to know when playing on hard:
  1. The difficulty is called hard for a reason. While the majority of the game is beyond manageable, there are several areas where you will die. Accept that fact now so you don't get frustrated later on.
  2. Block. It doesn't matter how much on the offensive you go, if you don't learn to block you'll end up dying a lot more than is necessary. Also try parrying as much as possible, as this will usually stun your opponent and leave them open to a grapple maneuver. The main reason I emphasize blocking and parrying is because the enemies usually attack in large groups, and once they've begun their attack it can't be interrupted (unless you use magic).
  3. Get accustomed to each of the 4 elements: Fire of Ares, Ice of Poseidon, Lightning of Zeus, and Souls of Hades. Each possess their own strengths, and some will prove more beneficial than others in certain situations. The same goes for each elements respective magic attack.

Remember these points, along with other tips provided here in the guide, and you should manage to beat the game without too much trouble.
