[top]Cheats, Glitches, & Exploits

There is a secrets option, in the main menu. Here you can buy weapon mod, vehicles and other exploits. These do not affect trophies... so happy cheating.

[top]Roadmap

  1. Go through the story mode: Play through the main story, and focus a little on getting the Metal Heads Skull Gem. Don't think about the orbs yet. Some of these trophies may come in another order, than your playthrough. That's because some of the missions, gives you the option to choose between multiple missions.
  2. Get the orbs (and maybe missing Metal Heads Skull Gems): Find the hidden orbs throughout the game. There is a chapter select in the cheats menu too. And also get the orbs from optional missions.

[top]Trophies

[top]
Fait Accompli
For Stamina and Time On Your Hands and insatiable need for completion.

You + all other trophies = A nice and shiny platinum trophy.

[top]
I Smell A Rat
Catch Kanga-Rats

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
This is the first mission after the Arena. You have to catch 6 Kanga-Rats while riding a Leaper. This is really easy and should cause you know trouble.

[top]
Beat It
Beat Kleiver in Desert Race

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
This is a race (surprising, I know). This racing should cause too much of a trouble. Just don't fall off the edges and use your boosts carefully, and this will become a walk in the park.

[top]
Art or Facts?
Race for Artifacts

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
Another racing mission! Here you will be racing through the desert, after artifacts. You're on a timer, so don't dilly-dally. You will also be chased by other drivers. You can't shoot back, which makes the mission a bit tricky, but it would not take long to pass the mission.

[top]
The Beast Beater
Destroy Metal Head Beasts

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
Finally, some guns on your vehicle. Here you have to gun down four Metal Head Beasts, with your car. It takes a good amount of bullets to kill one of these, but if you shoot from a distance, and avoid the purple bombs(?), you should be okay.

[top]
Yippie Ki-Yay
Corral Wild Leapers

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
In this mission you chase leapers with your car. This is quite easy. What is not as easy is when, you get close to a leaper, Daxter jumps on it, and then you have to ride it to the fence, without accidentally kill it. Beware of the spiked plants, because they will die from touching it. Don't ride it to the walls either. After fencing three of them, the mission ends.

[top]
Do Gooder
Rescue Wastelanders

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
There is 4 guys, that needs to be rescued. First find a guy, by driving to him, then drive him to his vehicle. Do this three more times.... oh wait... This fourth guy is dead, and a miniboss appeared. To kill this jellyfish looking piece of machinery, you need to get it down on the ground first. It will shoot lasers around you. Wait for them to disappear then run away from the jellyfish, since it will be slamming itself to the ground, causing a shockwave, which you need to jump over. The jellyfish then extends it arms, and turns around. Shoot it while jumping over the arms. Then you've shot it enough times, the procedure start over again. Do this procedure two more times to defeat the miniboss.

[top]
Is It Hot in Here?
Hang Glide to Volcano

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
In the temple mission, you need to climb a tower, after you've done that, you will see the hang glider. You have to make it from point A to point B. Use speed rings and purple steam to reach point B, without crashing to the ground. If the speed ring is small and yellow you have to shoot it to open it. This is pretty easy, but may take you a couple of tries.

[top]
World Wild Fight
Defeat Marauders in Arena

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
This is the third and final arena battle. Just kill all the enemies while keeping an eye out for sinking platforms. I do not recommend using Dark Jak here, since the pathways are pretty small. This is a bit difficult, but nothing a bit of trial and error can't fix.

[top]
Crunched
Destroy Eggs in Nest

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
Yet another vehicle section, but this one is more gun based. You drive in a cave filled with metal heads, and you have to gun down 10 stationary acorn-looking eggs, that shoot green... stuff... at you. This is pretty easy, and will probably not cause even a single death. After the destruction of the eggs, a timer will start, and you have to make an escape. Just focus on getting out and nothing else, and you should be fine.

[top]
Hot Babe
Defend Ashelin at Oasis

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
A rather annoying mission. You have to defeat about 60 enemies and a few vehicles, without you or Ashelin dying. Use the yellow and blue rifle for the most part. Use the red gun when you get cornered. Mix these tips with the fact, that you also can use Dark Jak and the mission should be completed rage free.

[top]
Railing at the Wind
Travel through Catacomb Subrails

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
This mission can also be annoying. Not far from speaking with the oracle for a second time, you'll see a yellow vehicle. A zooming struggle to survive while racing down a tube starts. Avoid EVERYTHING. Wires, holes weird antenna things. The only thing you have to look out for other, than avoiding stuff, is the red rocket powered precursor junk, that comes flying in sometimes. Shoot or it will shoot you.

[top]
Ex-plorer
Explore Eco Mine

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
This is a run-and-gun/platforming stage. There is a lot of metal heads in this part of the game, and there is bridges, which you get down, by shooting them. There is also a section, where you have to kick, rat looking enemies into hamster wheels to power up bridges. This level is actually quite hard, and you easily run out of ammo. Suddenly a cutscene will appear and you will see the Bomb Train in front of you, and the mission is completed.

[top]
Bombs on a Train
Escort Bomb Train

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
To not fail this mission, you have to shoot the targets under the lifted rails to lower them. You need to hurry through the entire level, before the train runs out of rails. Always look out for the rail, so you don't miss any targets. This mission probably requires a few tries, but it mostly contain trial and error, and it should be relatively easy.

[top]
Bossing the Bot Boss
Defeat Veger's Precursor Robot

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
The first real boss battle in the game, the fight is divided into sections
  1. The robot firstly use a lightsaber-esque weapon. Just jump over the attacks.
  2. The robot spawn enemies. These enemies multiplies themselves for everytime you hit them. So the best strategy will be to just melee attack them over the edge of the platform.
  3. The robot then raises some platforms. Then they cool off, jump on them, and get to the highest platform. From here you can shoot one of the explosive mine carts above the robot.
Repeat these three steps two times more (though with increasing difficulty), to defeat the robot. The platform sections can be a bit finicky and annoying, but overall, the boss isn't hard.

[top]
Swamp Gas
Reach Port via Sewer

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
Another run-and-gun/platforming section. This one involves a lot of enemies, massive bodies of water and annoying hover board sections. This is no too bad though, but may require a bit frustration. Once you're in heaven city, the mission is over.

[top]
Boom Bada Boom
Destroy Incoming Blast Bots

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
In Heaven City, you get the task to defeat 3 big robots. These can be a pain to kill, but if you only focus on killing the robots, this should neither take you long or be too frustrating.

[top]
Can Can Cannon
Destroy Sniper Cannons

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed! Here the camera angles is from the sniper cannons vision. You have to head smash ( + ) the buttons around the cannons. There are both regular enemies, and the cannons themselves. There is 6 cannons in total, and it should overall not be so difficult, but it can be tricky.

[top]
Swimming Hole
Reach Metal Head Area via Sewer

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
Back to the sewers we go! This is yet another run-and-gun/platforming with a lot more water and enemies. The section is fairly long, and can cause a lot of cheap deaths and ammo run outs. The level is hard, though the trickiness mostly come from the level design. Swimming and dodging enemies is a bit tricky, with the narrow spaces you have.

[top]
Tanks for the Mammaries
Destroy Dark Eco Tanks

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
After getting to the Metal Heads Area, you are tasked to destroy 5 Dark Eco Tanks. These are on the platforms in the middle of the area. Use your hoverboard to grind over the.....tentacle......vines.....thing, and use the steam vents to reach higher platforms. I recommend to go to the sides as little as possible, since you will be avoiding the enemies, and making this mission extremely easy.

[top]
Black Thumb Too
Kill Dark Plants in Forest

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
Right after getting the last trophy, you will be tasked to kill these Dark Eco Plants. Use the hoverboard to drive over over the green eco vent, and then while filled with green eco. The green eco eventually runs out, and then you have to get more. There is no enemies, which makes this mission really easy. Don't worry about not being able to find them all, then you have killed the majority of the plants, the remaining will be marked on the mini map.

[top]
Hi Jak!
Hijack Eco Vehicle

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
In this vehicle section, you will hijack the eco vehicle by simply going in it. After that, a missile launcher sends out missiles after you. You can't slow down or bump into walls. Once you get to the big area a timer will start. You have to follow the markers on the mini-map, to get to these glowing UFO looking contraptions in the water. After you've got rid of all but one missile, fly to the big glowing Daxter figure. This mission might be a bit tricky, but should not cause any real trouble.

[top]
Port to Starboard
Defend Port from Attack

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
You have to gun down a lot of enemies and to spice things up the game decides, that it should be on an overhead view and the weapons you are allowed to use spawn at random. There is a lot of friendly soldiers around to help. You can not have them all killed or you will fail the mission. A good tip is to always kill the big enemies yourself and let the soldiers kill the small enemies. There is one really hard part, where you have to defend civilians instead of soldiers. The civilians do not do anything other than the usual duck-and-cover routine, and you are all alone against the enemies. The enemies (for some reason), would rather kill the three civilians than you, and you have to protect them. The mission is annoying but should be manageable.

[top]
Zoom Zoom
Race for More Artifacts

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
Kinda the same deal as the first artifact hunt... well, except that there is more risque jumps, more enemies and you can use guns. Don't think too hard about the timer, as the race is really long, and your health bar is not getting refilled throughout the whole thing. All in all, it's the same, just a bit more difficult.

[top]
Empty Nesters
Destroy Metal-pedes in Nest

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
This mission is really easy. You have to kill 5 metal-pedes while riding a heavy vehicle. The metal-pedes doesn't have any attacks except for a laser and jumping around. This is an easy mission.

[top]
Gate Crasher Masher
Defend Spargus' Front Gate

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
This a mission where you have to destroy a lot of cars. You do not have to destroy all the cars, only the ones, that has a catapult on it's roof. If you only focus on the catapult ones, you will make the mission easier. There is a total of 13 vehicles, that needs to be destroyed.

[top]
The Masked Marauders
Take Out Marauder Stronghold

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
You will start the mission, by trapped in an arena, where catapults will fire at you from outside of the arena. You have to kill 60 enemies. This can prove quite difficult, but with a good use of both light and dark Jak, this should be quite manageable.... but it's not over yet. The cowards flee and you have to chase them down. There is a timer, so you have to hurry. Bridges, hills and other cars, can cause you to flip so be careful. The other non-fleeing enemy cars gives you boosts if you kill them. This is a very tricky mission.

[top]
Blam!
Break Barrier with Blast Bot

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
In this mission, you get to control a Blast Bot. The controls are a bit clunky, but the Blast Bot is so overpowered, it makes up for it. Just shoot the living hell out of every enemy you see, while progressing through the level. Once you reached the big gate, the mission will be over.

[top]
The Best Defense
Defend HQ from Attack

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
This.... is.... the most annoying mission in the game if you ask me. You will be attacked by three big box-like enemies. First a wave of 1 bot, and then a wave of 2 bots. These enemies takes forever to kill, spawn more enemies, and constantly barrage you with missiles and lasers. You have to shoot the four jets in the corners of the enemies. There is randomly spawning ammo boxes in certain places. It's best to go after the big box-like enemies first. I also recommend defeat the box-like enemies one at a time, instead of just randomly shooting between the two. Once the enemies are defeated the mission is over.

[top]
Switcheroo
Find Switch in Sewers

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
Because you just loved the first two sewer levels, they bring you another. More enemies, more water, more stuff to avoid. It's pretty much the same all over again, only slightly more challenging.

[top]
I Want to Destroy!
Destroy War Factory Defenses

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
You will be flying an airship!!! You have to destroy a lot of beacons scattered around the base you are flying around. There is enemy airships and gun turrets so be careful. You have the standard gun and a limited amount of bombs. After destroying all of the beacons, you have to destroy the four turrets. I suggest reserving your bombs up to this part.

[top]
Batter the Boss
Beat Cyber-Errol Boss

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
Another boss battle! Here is what he does:
  1. Errol throws energy bombs at you, run around to dodge them
  2. Waves of enemies come at you, try using the red gun at the first round of enemies since the yellow, blue and purple guns becomes very useful later on, when harder enemies appear.
  3. Spinning rockets comes at you. Shoot down the rocket, that is closest to the platform Errol stands on, then the rocket hits the ground, quickly spinkick it, under the platform Errol stands on. The rocket will hit and damage Errol.
These steps will be repeated, though it is important to notice, that Errol also stars shooting shockwave bombs, and bombs that destroys the floor panels. The real hard part of the boss, is the enemies. Though, some of them are easy to dispose off, the last wave can be tricky, so save your good ammunition to that part.

[top]
Dude in Distress
Rescue Seem at Temple

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
A loooooooooooooong temple level awaits you. After the destruction of some of those Dark Eco Creatures, you will see the oracle. It will give you the power to fly (well... at least glide). Use this power to progress in many hallways. Defeat some creatures and eventually you will get to Seem. This level has many Dark Eco Creatures, and can get really difficult later on. Try to spare as much ammo as possible for later in the level.

[top]
Shoot 'em High
Defend Spargus from Attack

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
It's turret time. Here you will be shooting tall Eco machines. This mission was surprisingly easy. Just shoot down one at a time, and try to shoot the bombs they throw at you. Make sure to hit all the of the weakspots.

[top]
Clear Vision
Activate Astro-Viewer in Forest

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
In this mission you'll have to take control of three different turrets to kill a total of 9 purple flowers. First you need to actually get to control the turrets. Try to get close to the turret, without it shooting at you, then shoot the Dark Eco Monster on top the turret. Position yourself in the turret and destroy the three Dark Eco Plants, you can reach with that turret. This is an extremely easy mission of one reason alone. If you die, the amounts of flowers missing doesn't reset back to 9. So you can screw up as many times as you want on one flower and not get a penalty for it. Once the flowers are destroyed, climb the tower.

[top]
Shields are Down
Destroy Dark Ship Shield

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
You will be controlling a Dark Eco Robot. This is a very short sequence, and mostly content killing other enemies and push exploding electric bombs into doors. There are some easy-to-avoid lasers thrown in too. It may take a few tries, but it is not a hard mission.

[top]
Big Tower Fall Down
Destroy Metal Head Tower

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
This is definitely one of the harder levels. You will be swarmed by critters and monsters. Use the purple gun, when cornered, and try to avoid enemies when possible. Use Dark and Light Jak powers, when needed, and grind for ammo (Smash ammo boxes, die, repeat) when needed. The level will end at a cutscene.

[top]
Duck and Dodge
Reach Catacombs via Palace Ruins

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
This is a pretty run-the-mill type of level. Save ammo, use Dark and Light Jak when needed, use powerful attacks when cornered. In this level, there is also a few hoverboard sections, but other than that... same old, same old.

[top]
They Were Ruined Anyway
Break through Ruins

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
A vehicle section, and a very easy one too. The enemies are easy to kill, and the puzzle aren't too confusing. Just boost your way through walls, generators and bridges, to proceed.

[top]
Plasma Ball
Destroy Dark Ship

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
You get warped into the same place you were, when you destroyed the dark ships shield. It's all on a timer, which means the enemy level, won't be high at all. The mission ends when you get to a portal at the end of the ship. It's actually a pretty easy level.

[top]
Taking Him Down
Destroy Final Boss

This trophy is story-related and can not be missed!
Initiating the hardest driving sequence.... GO!!! Here you have to shoot small targets on the giant machines legs. There is a total of 14. This, however, is not easy since the legs are constantly moving. Then you get to the bridges, you're basically screwed, since the hills in the next part makes it really difficult to hit the target. Just keep trying to get them. After the cutscene climb the tower (shouldn't take long), to get to the final standoff. This boss is very easy.
  1. First you need to destroy the tentacles, this is not hard at all
  2. Then you need to defeat a small wave of enemies. The last wave can be a bit tricky. So save some of the good ammo later.
  3. He then shoots laser at you. These are easy to avoid. When he turns his head 90 degrees to either left or right, shoot the obvious red weak spot to damage him.
  4. He then smashes his head into the ground. This is pretty easy too avoid.
What makes this battle so easy, is the light eco vault, that from time to time appears at the right side of the battlefield. Use it to heal up as often as possible. The only think to remember is to save a little long-ranged ammunition for shooting him in the back head. Then you have shot him in the back of his head 4 times, he dies and the game ends.

Head Over Here
Collect 250 Metal Head Skull Gems

These are bright yellow orbs. These can be obtained by killing metal heads. Metal heads are creatures in various shape or form and can easily be spotted by it's yellow glow (usually from their forehead). I'm almost certain, that you get this through progressing the game. I personally got it right before the first sewer section, which is at the beginning of act 2. So you should get this no problem. If you do NOT get this before the game is over, just go around Heaven City or the Metal Head Area and just kill all Metal Heads with the glow from their forehead.

The Orbiter of Record
Collect 600 Precursor Orbs

Yes, the orbs are back. The good think though is, unlike Jak 2, none of these orbs are missable. You can return to areas after the game is over... wooptidoo. There is too ways of getting the orbs... winning side missions and find them in the open.

Here is a guide by a guy named yugioh2me, for the orbs that are hidden around the world
http://faqs.ign.com/articles/580/580391p1.html

Sidemissions are marked on the map as a green triangle with a green dot over it (kinda looks like an arrow that is pointing down). You often have to pay 4 or 8 Metal Head Skull Gems to unlock them. These challenges can be races, hidden orb timed hunt, killing a lot of enemies, Pac-Man Daxter and Gun courses. These are very tricky and requires a lot of patience to get. Just keep on trying till you get it. In the strategies section, I have gathered a few tips and tricks under the the "Side-mission" section.

If you do not feel like doing it the hard way, you can use this method, nicely provided by SteezeOrtiz.
