[top]Tips & Strategies

  • Check your progress towards the kills and collectibles trophies by pausing and clicking "Memorabilia". In addition, check your progress in each area of each level by watching the left-hand side of the screen as you collect new items. You can watch your count of iron for that area go from 53 to 56, for example.
  • Destroy everything you can as you go. This includes boxes, crates, barrels, pots, vases...everything you can using easy attacks with . That way you collect everything and start making early progress towards earning your collectible trophies.
  • When Po (the main character, the panda) glows red or when an enemy nearby glows red, hit to counter their attack.
  • The Kung Fu Curl attack, taught to you by Master Shifu, works best in confined spaces as you bounce around like a pinball. To use the attack, hold and press . Make sure you aim the attack by pointing in the direction you want to roll.
  • Call in backup by hitting , when your friend-meter is full. The red ring surrounding one of your Furious Five friends is your friend-meter. Damage enemies to fill the ring. When it's full, hit to have one of your buddies come in and take out one of the enemies.
  • Dodge by flipping/cartwheeling by tapping .
  • Melee with and strong melee with .
  • Ground-pound by jumping with and hitting in the air.
  • The Acu-Punch technique, learned during Master Croc's path in the game and executed by holding then pressing , is by far the most effective weapon in the game. Counterattacking is the second most effective attack.
  • A NOTE ABOUT COLLECTIBLES - I have not written collectible guides since none of the items are hard to find if you're paying attention. Be sure to smash everything, look on the walls of each area, and carefully check the perimeter of every area and you'll easily find all the items you need. If you miss some, you can go back and get them after you finish the story.

[top]Roadmap

This game is very easy and very brief. After you finish a level you can go back through it and clean up anything you missed, which will only be a few collectibles here and there, none of which are hard to find. Therefore, I will provide a general roadmap and a suggested, specific roadmap, which is simply the path that I took through the game.

General Roadmap: Play and complete each of the three paths through the game, collecting everything you can as you go. After you finish all three, if you still need more iron/steel/gold or specific collectibles or kills, go back to those levels and clean up.

Suggested Roadmap:

Before you start, know this: Once you clear an area of enemies, they do not respawn, save for a few areas. This means that after you complete all three paths, enemies will be more difficult to find. Be sure you get these requirements out of the way during story mode to save frustration:
  • Defeat 10 enemies using Acu-Punch.
  • Defeat 10 enemies using Kung Fu Curl.
  • Shatter 10 enemies' shields using Thunder Strike.
  • ***Defeat 10 enemies with weapons. - Weapons other than your Kung Fu techniques are difficult to come by. Be on the lookout for guitars, large mallets, and (what looks like) giant sausages. You can defeat enemies with all of these weapons.

  • Step 1: Follow Master Croc and complete his path. - You can technically start by following any of the three masters, but Master Croc teaches you the Acu-Punch, an extremely effective ability that makes laying waste to groups of enemies a snap, so you'll want this tool as soon as possible.

  • Step 2: Follow Master Ox and complete his path. - You can choose either of the remaining two paths, but Master Ox also teaches you a powerful fighting technique.

  • Step 3: Follow Master Shifu and complete his path. - This is the only option left. After this, you've technically beaten the game, but you may have a few trophies left to mop up if you missed some collectibles.

  • Step 4: Clean up. - Hopefully you found all the iron, steel, gold, black blades, armor, jade statues, and red symbols during story mode. If not, just go back around the map and find all the remaining collectibles now. Also, if you need a few kills, just check out a few areas and eventually you fill find enemies. They seem to be in random places so I haven't listed locations.
