[top]Tips and Strategies

  • You MUST complete the game to have access to Free Play in Middle Earth which allows you to change characters.
  • Bag End can't be entered until AFTER you have completed the game.
  • Make sure you touch the Mapstones in each area to mark all the collectibles on your main map.
  • Targets and Wall Handhold Openings can be shot by Legolas or Faramir, or with any other character who has a bow or by using a Mithril Bow.
  • Climbable Walls can be climbed by Gollum, or any character using Mithril Climbing Boots.
  • Orange Handles can be pulled by Shagrot or any other Uruk-Hai, or any character using Mithril Boxing Gloves
  • Shiny Mithril Objects can be destroyed by using Mithril Fireworks
    • NOTE: I have found some objects that WON'T destroy with the Mithril Fireworks. I recommend purchasing the Berserker from Helm's Deep for 200,000 studs. His Bombs will destroy ALL Mythril objects.

  • Fires (create) can be created by Sam, or a character using the Mithril Tinderbox
  • Pegs can be hooked on to using Sam's Elven Rope, or any character using the Mithril Rope
  • Morgul Blocks can only be destroyed by using the swords Narsil and Anduril who are wielded by Aragorn and Elendil
  • Dark Caves can be lit up using Frodo's Light of Earendil
  • Crawl Spaces can be used with any Hobbit, Gollum or Dwarf
  • Jettys (Piers) can be fished off of with either Gollum or Merry, or any other character using the Mithril Fishing Rod
  • Fires (put out) Fires can be put out by finding a waterhole and using Pippin's bucket, or by using the Mythril Bottomless Bucket with any character
  • Plants can be grown at proper areas using Sam.
  • Cracked Tiles can be broken by using Gimli to smash them with the , or by using any character with an axe
  • Arrow Poles can be swung on using an Elf, or by using any character with Mithril Gloves
  • Jumping High requires an Elf, or by using a character equipped with Mithril Spring Boots

[top] Hoff's Path to Platinum

If you are new to Lego games, all Lego games have a basic formula for success. Getting to 100% can be either an irritating grind, OR it can be done with relative ease if you are familiar with this formula which I will outline below

[top]Playthrough 1

Use this playthrough to familiarize yourself with the game and enjoy the game and it's story. Collect as many studs as you can as you will need them later. You will probably find a few of the minikits during this playthrough as well as gain true adventurer status and collect some random collectibles, but don't go out of your way to grind for them. You can't get the majority of them until after you have completed the game. By the end of this playthrough you will have unlocked all main story missions

[top]Collect Score Multipliers, Characters and Treasures needed for Playthrough 2

This is the most important step of this. You need to collect the proper Red Bricks, Characters and Treasures so that you can move through your second Playthrough with relative ease, collect everything and not have to do any grinding at the end of the game. Follow this outline before starting your second playthrough. The Stud Multipliers you most likely won't be able to buy all at once, especially the x10. Buy the ones you can and as soon as you have enough make sure you go back and buy the next one. Below you will find general tips on where to find these, for more specific locations please see the There and back Again trophy below

Collect Red Bricks
  • Studs x2: The Fetch Quest for this can be found in Rivendell. you will then need the Blacksmith Design Recipe for Mithril Gloves, which can be obtained in the Warg Attack main story mission.
  • Studs x4: The Fetch Quest for this can be found in Amon Hen. you will then need the Blacksmith Design Recipe for Mithril Fishing Rod, which can be obtained in the Track Hobbits main story mission.
  • Studs x6: The Fetch Quest for this can be found in Edoras. you will then need the Blacksmith Design Recipe for Mithril Top Hat, which can be obtained in The Battle of Pelennor Fields main story mission.
  • Studs x8: The Fetch Quest for this can be found in Helm's Deep. you will then need the Blacksmith Design Recipe for Mithril Shield, which can be obtained in The Paths of the Dead main story mission.
  • Studs x10: The Fetch Quest for this can be found in Cirith Ungol. you will then need the Blacksmith Design Recipe for Mithril Squeak Sword, which can be obtained in The Secret Stairs main story mission.
  • Minikit Chest Finder: The Fetch Quest for this can be found in Weathertop. you will then need the Blacksmith Design Recipe for Mithril Stud Mallet, which can be obtained in The Dead Marshes main story mission.

Collect Characters
  • Berserker: The Berserker is the ONLY character you need to buy before starting your run. His bombs can destroy all Shiny Mithril objects and he can also pull the Orange Handles as a strength character.

Craft Mithril Treasures
  • Mithril Cluster Bow: You can craft ANY of the Mithril Bows, but this one is probably the easiest. The Blacksmith Design Recipe for this can be obtained in The Pass of Caradhras main story mission.
  • Mithril Boxing Gloves: The Blacksmith Design Recipe for this can be obtained in the Osgiliath main story mission.
  • Mithril Rope: The Blacksmith Design Recipe for this can be obtained in the Amon Hen main story mission.
  • Mithril Shockwave Axe: The Blacksmith Design Recipe for this can be obtained in the Prologue main story mission.

[top]Playthrough 2

Now that you have collected all necessary items it is time to start Playthrough #2 to clean up the levels. By the end of the playthrough, you should have all Minikits, Treasures and Recipes from the levels towards your 100%. You should also Receive the trophies below
  • Ready for Another Adventure
  • Delved too Greedily
  • What About Second Breakfast?

[top]Middle Earth Cleanup

Now that you have finished with the main story, head around to each location in Middle Earth and cleanup all the Mithril Bricks, Design Recipes, Red Bricks, Fetch Quests and Purchase all the characters available. Also touch all the Mapstones for the trophy if you haven't already done so. Once you have collected all the Mithril Bricks, make sure you go to the Blacksmith in Bree and craft all the Mithril Items. You will finish off these trophies by the end of this.
  • Here's a Pretty Thing
  • I told you he Was Tricksy
  • My Precious...
  • There's Some Good in this World

The Strength of Men Failed
Complete 'Prologue'.

This is a story Based trophy.

This is the opening of the game, you will play as Elendil, Isildur and Elrond as you complete the battle when Sauron was defeated and the strength of men failed. They did a fantastic job recreating the opening battle from the movies and putting you directly into the action. After you have completed the battle against Sauron, its a straight shot to the entrance to Mt. Doom to toss the ring into the lava below. Make sure you jump off the side of the walkway before heading to the end and starting the cutscene to get the It Won't be that Easy! trophy

Sauron
The battle against Sauron is actually quite easy. You need to use Elendil as you will need his sword, Narsil, to hurt Sauron. Suaron has a couple different attacks, the first being a smash on the ground with his mace, the second being a series of swipes from his mace and the third being a kick stomp that he will use if you are too close to him. Circle around him taking out his army of Orcs that attack until he smashed his mace into the ground and it gets stuck. Once that happens, attack the mace where it is stuck into the ground to break a piece of it and damage him. Repeat this three times to end the battle.

[top]
It's a Dangerous Business...
Complete 'The Black Rider'.

This is a story Based trophy.

In this next level you will control Merry, Pippin, Sam, Frodo and in one section Gandalf as you are making your way to Bucklebury Ferry. This one can be a pain as the level is pretty dark and at times it can be hard to see what you are doing. You must sneak along and distract the Black Rider that is looking for you by interacting with the environment to distract him. This usually means throwing a rock into the trees to startle him. If you can't find something to distract him with, try switching to Sam and just walking around and you are bound to find someplace to dig or to plant a flower. At the halfway point of the map, you will change to Gandalf to battle Saruman in his tower, and then you will switch back to the Hobbits to continue their journey. The final part of this mission is a chase sequence while avoiding the Black Riders.

Saruman the White

This fight starts with you being held in the air by Saruman. Rapidly press the to break free of his hold then prepare for his attack. You can't attack him as he will just block everything so you need to wait for the right moment. He will start by twirling his staff in the air and launching fireballs at you. Simply run in a circle to avoid these. Next he will perform a jump smash in the air that causes an electrical current to run along the floor at you. When he smashes down, jump out of the way to avoid them. After he performs a series of these he gets stunned and falls down. Move in and press the to pick him up and toss him into one of the doors. Repeat this two more times to finish off this battle.

[top]
That is No Trinket You Carry
Complete 'Weathertop'.

This is a story Based trophy.

In this level you will play as the four hobbits to start with. Your goal in the first section is to build a campfire which involves finding three pieces of wood that are conveniently hidden throughout the area. After that you will need to complete the first cooking puzzle of the game to continue which is also your first introduction to fishing in the Main Story. After you have collected a tomato, a fish and an egg place Sam's Frying Pan in the fire to end the first section. The next section is simply making your way up to the top of Weathertop. The final section is your first introduction to the Shadow World. You need to build fire pits with Frodo in the shadow world, and then change back to Sam in the regular world and light them on fire to scare off the Ringwraiths. Once you have completed them all, you will need to use the one fire pit on the left side to light torches to take out the Ringwraiths to end this level

[top]
The Long Way Around
Complete 'The Pass of Caradhras'.

This is a story Based trophy.

In this level you will play as the entire Fellowship. This is one of the mere three story levels this happens in so enjoy it now. The beginning if this level involves trying to pass over the Pass of Caradhras. Not a lot to this one, you need to use Legolas and Gimli a lot. Legolas to cross over the deep snow, then use Gimli to break the cracked tiles to continue to the next area. When you get to the camp, remember that only Legolas can walk across tight ropes and jump from them, everyone else hangs underneath of them and can only drop down. Also Legolas can shoot arrows into wall slots to use as swing poles. After you have complete the Pass and have decided to go to the Mines, the next section takes place at the mine entrance as you are attempting to open the doors. You will need to climb up on each side of the doors and push rocks down to the bottom to rebuild the broken tiles on the door, and you will also need to build a fire pit in front of the door and light a fire with Sam to burn off the vines. Once you have done this, you will ahve a battle with the Watcher in the Water to complete the level.

Watcher in the Water
The Watcher in the Water battle is easier than you might think. In the beginning the Watcher will slam down a tentacle with a red weak spot on it. Use melee attacks to take this out and after taking out enough, you can shoot the watcher in the face with Legolas' bow. Now he will cover his face with a tentacle. Wait until he covers it with the cracked tile, then pick up Gimli and toss him at the Watcher's tentacle to stun him. Once you have done that, shoot him with the bow to end the level

[top]
This is No Mine....It's a Tomb
Complete 'The Mines of Moria'.

This is a story Based trophy.

For this level you will be navigating the Mines of Moria. For a detailed walkthrough of the level please see the We Cannot Linger trophy below.

[top]
Let's Hunt Some Orc!
Complete 'Amon Hen'.

This is a story Based trophy.

This is the beginning of the branching off of the game. For this level, you will control Frodo, and separately control Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn. While controlling Frodo, you will be in the shadow world as you are avoiding Boromir as you progress to the top of Amon Hen. This is very similar to the Black Rider level as you will be using things from the environment to distract him to get to progress along into the story. This is also a good time to get the That is a Rare Gift trophy. For more tips on getting this or if you are having trouble getting past Boromir please see that trophy below. Once you get to the top of Amon Hen, Sauron's eye will find you and you will need to mash the to get away from him and take the ring off. You can switch between your playable parties at any time but at this point, you will switch to Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli. With this party your goal is to make it to the top of Amon Hen to look for Frodo. Not a lot to this one, simply follow the path and when you get to the top you will be introduced to the "tracking" specialty Aragorn has in the game to find Frodo. Once you have done that the next section begins. The final section has you heading down the hill to try and reach Boromir before he is overrun by Uruks. Take them out at each section , including the ones shooting arrows from above, to trigger the final battle of the level

Lurtz
This is the final battle of the level against the captain of the Uruks. To start with, climb through the crawlspace and hit him from behind and he will toss you off the platform. Now take out the Uruks that attack the area, destroy the blockage in front of the crawlspace and climb through and hit him again. Now destroy the Uruks and debris on the right, build the trampoline and bounce up and hit him again to start the second part of this battle. In this section Lurtz will throw things at you from above. Simply avoid these until he throws his shield at you. Once he does that, he will jump down to go get it and this is when he is vulnerable. Stand next to him and he will grab you and you can change to your other character. If you time it right, you can get him to keep grabbing your character from standing right in his way and making it a continuous back and forth of attacking him to end the battle very quickly.

[top]
On the Precious...
Complete 'Taming Gollum'.

This is a story Based trophy.

The beginning of this level has you playing as Gandalf as you scale the snowy mountain to battle the Balrog. After smiting him, you will change to Sam and Frodo as they try and tame Gollum. In the first area, head around the area and collect fish so you can toss them in his bucket which lowers the stone blockade a little. Once you have collected all the fish in the area, you will proceed forward to a showdown with Gollum.

Balrog
The Balrog will have two attacks it performs. The first is a flame whip that is very easily jumped over as he takes a big ass wind up before swinging at you. The second is a ground smash that causes damage in a direct line at where you are standing. this is very similar to the attack from Saruman and can very easily be jumped over. Once he has attacked a few times, lightning will strike the ground. Get in the lit up circle to charge up your sword then direct the blast to the weak point on his wings and body to damage him. once you have done this three times the battle will end.

Gollum
To start this fight, pick up the fish on the ground and throw it at Gollum to get him to come down from his wall. Once he does that, change to Sam and use your Elven Rope on him to get his attention and he will attack Sam. Now change to Frodo and attack Gollum to damage him. After the first one, you will need to gather the 3 components to the Fishing Pole Treasure to fish from the Jetty. Once you have it completed get a fish from the water and repeat the process two more times to complete the level.

[top]
Soft and Quick as Shadows...
Complete 'The Dead Marshes'.

This is a story Based trophy.

You start this level as Gollum, Frodo and Sam as you navigate through the Dead Marshes. Follow Smeagol ad he leads you through the marshes on the safe path in the water and use the bcuket treasure you find to put out the fires on the way to the end of the first section. In the second section you will need to make it through the Marshes while hiding at each island from the Nazgul who is searching above. To hide from him, have Sam use the available hiding places, then have Frodo use his Elven Cloak as camo to hide. In the next section you will play as Faramir as you take down to Oliphaunts. Destroy the trees in the middle areas, then build trampolines from the debris. Now use these to bounce up to the ropes on the sides of the Oliphaunts and use these to get to the basket with the enemies. Take out the enemies in the bottom area, then climb up to the top where the driver is and take him out to scare them off to finish the level

[top]
Safe is Where I'll Keep You
Complete 'Track Hobbits'.

This is a story Based trophy.

The beginning of this level is a Tracking game as you play with Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli. use the available characters to find the items to track and track Merry and Pippin into Fangorn Forest to continue the level. The first part of Fangorn Forest has you playing as Pippin and Merry as you avoid the Uruk-Hai to get deeper into the forest. Proceed all the way to the right and at the end climb up the tree to awaken Treebeard. The second part of this area has you riding Treebeard as you make your way to the Ent Moot. This section is quite easy as you can just stomp the crap out if the Uruks and everything else and gain a crapload of studs. At the end of the level carry Merry over the river, then switch to him and use the crawlspace to put out the fire so you can proceed to the end of the level.

[top]
Stinking Creatures...
Complete 'Warg Attack'.

This is a story Based trophy.

The beginning of this level has you playing as Gandalf the White as you break Theoden from the spell of Saruman the White. Attack Grima and he will roam around the chamber in terror. Now use the with Gandalf to turn one of Theoden's hearts from silver to red breaking the spell. Now Grima will attack you again, then go stand up by Theoden. Now a group of enemies will attack from the right. Take them out and then build a cage on the roof, attack Grima again and he will run around the room and get caught in the cage. Now use your on Theoden again to free up another heart. Repeat this process one more time with the enemies on the left side to finish this section. The second part of the level is the attack from the Wargs. This is very easy, simply ride around and take out the Warg riders to finish this area and the level.

[top]
The Battle is About to Begin...
Complete 'Helm's Deep'.

This is a story Based trophy.

Ahh the battle for Helm's Deep. This is a pivotal turning point in this story as it shows Sauron that the world of men will not just roll over to be destroyed. Despite being a huge battle, there isn't a lot to this battle. In the beginning you will play as Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli as you defend the wall from the ocean of Uruks trying to invade. Once the wall is breached, climb to the top of the left side to make your way into the keep. At the top of the wall, you sill see Haldir fall to an Uruk and no matter how fast you get there, you can't save him . After heading into the Keep, you will emerge to the other side for the infamous Gimli tossing to defend the front gate while Theoden makes repairs inside. Once you complete this section, it is time for the final charge for Rohan. Once you get to the end, Eomer and Gandalf arrive to save the day and the level ends

[top]
A Wizard Should Know Better!
Complete 'Osgiliath'.

This is a story Based trophy.

This level, IMO, is one of the most fun and creative of the entire game. You will switch back and forth between Frodo, Sam and Gollum and Faramir as they make there way to the end of the area. Everytime you hit a place you cant get farther, with the Hobbits, travel parallel to them with Faramir and use his bow to open the path forward. One of the best sequences is the battles with the Nazgul as they incorporated the arrow cam from the movie into this part of the game. Once you have finished this section, it is time for the assault on Isengard with the Ents. Nothing to do here but squish Uruks and Orcs and gather Studs . At the end of the area, pull the braces out for the damn to flood Isengard and finish the level.

[top]
Naughty Little Fly...
Complete 'The Secret Stairs'.

This is a story Based trophy.

Up the stairs and into the Tunnel we go....Yes Gollum never had any ulterior motives with this path. At the bottom you will need to put together some stairs at the bottom to reach the staircase. Keep an eye on Frodo while you are doing this as he like to wander towards Cirith Ungol and the call of the Witch King. Once you get onto the stairs, all you need to do is climb to the top. Now you enter Shelob's Lair. Make your way to the back of the tunnel, and it will prompt a chase from Shelob to end the level.

[top]
We did it, Mr. Frodo
Complete 'Cirith Ungol'.

This is a story Based trophy.

The start of this level is the battle with old Shelob. use Sam, and Shagrot as he is a teammate for some reason to take her down and you will progress to the tower in Cirith Ungol. In here, make your way to the bottom and at the bottom you will need to find two helmets and two pieces of armor to progress through the checkpoint. Its actually quite easy, the only part you need to remember is that you can use the Elven Cloak with Frodo to sneak past the guard who closes the gate when he sees you at the top of the second level. Once you have the items, proceed to the checkpoint to proceed.

Shelob

There are two things you need in this battle. Frodo's sword, Sting, and the Light of Earendil. Both of these are located at the front of the battle area under a couple webs. Grab these and blind Shelob, with the light by getting next to her, then stand in the yellow circle and stab her with Sting. She will climb up on to the wall at this point and shoot webs at you. While avoiding the webs, throw the Light at her to knock her off the wall. Now grab the Light from its respawn point and continue. After the third round of this, there will be a button input sequence to finish her off, which very cleverly matches the sequence in the movie

[top]
They have been Summoned
Complete 'The Paths of the Dead'.

This is a story Based trophy.

In this level you will play as Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli as they travel through the tunnels of the mountain to make the Army under the mountain fulfill their oaths they made to the King of Gondor. This is a very straightforward level with no surprises. If you avoid the mounds of green smoke you can avoid any battles until the very end of the level. At the end of the level, take down the King of the Dead to finish the level

King of the Dead

Not a lot to this battle. Build the structure in the middle of the area, then using Aragorn stand on top of this and hit the King three times and he will go into his castle. At this point move from the middle of the area as a river of skulls will run through the middle. Now rebuild a new structure and repeat the process. Once you have done this three times he will submit.

[top]
You and Whose Army?
Complete 'The Battle of Pelennor Fields'.

This is a story Based trophy.

The Battle of Pelennor Fields is the greatest battle of the game. You will begin this battle riding with the Rohirrim as they attack the army that is trying to invade Minas Tirith. Once this section ends, you will be playing as Eowyn and Merry as you are battling the Nazgul. After that you will battle the Witch King. Once he falls, the battle will switch to Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas as you take down a bunch of Oliphaunts. Once you have completed that task the battle will end.

Nazgul and the Witch King
You must avoid his attacks until he gets stunned. Once he gets stunned, go attack its head for 3 strikes then back away as it will attack again. Repeat this three times and his head will fly off and the battle with the Witch King will begin. This is like a cross between the battle with Sauron and a Cave Troll. Build spots on the ground for him to slam his mace into, then attack him once he does that. Repeat this until he grabs Eowyn to tell her that no man can defeat him, switch to merry and stab him in the back, then change back to Eowyn and...

[top]
This Day we Fight!
Complete 'The Black Gate'.

This is a story Based trophy.

The battle of the Black Gate is the distraction need to help Frodo and Sam get past all the Orcs to get into Mt Doom to destroy the ring. No boss battles here, simply follow the linear path and destroy all that stand in your way including the multiple troll battles to finish off the level.

[top]
It's Gone

This is a story Based trophy.

The final part of the game. For this you simply need to head through the same area as the prologue to toss the ring in the fire. You will have to face Gollum twice in this section. The first time, simply throw rocks at him to damage him while hes attacking the other player, and the second part you will throw him off with Frodo, then attack him with Sam. Once you have finished him off the final cutscene rolls and the game ends .

I Told you he was Tricksy
Collect all the Red Bricks. (Single Player Only)

Red Bricks are located in almost every major location. To unlock Red Bricks you have to complete Fetch Quests for certain individuals that are located in each location. If you are looking at the map, you can hover the magnifying glass over the Mapstone for the area. This will tell you if that particular area has a Red Brick available or not. When you are accepting Fetch Quests from the inhabitants of the area, any quest that requires you to forge something Mithril for them will result in a Red Brick. Sometimes, their instructions for the Fetch Quest will even tell you they are giving you a Red Brick with Red font over your reward. Once you have unlocked a brick, you have the option to buy the brick or wait until later. Always wait until you have purchased all the Score Multipliers before purchasing things in Lego Games if you are new to this. Once you have unlocked the Red Bricks they will appear on your map as well.

Each Red Brick will give you a cheat you can enable in the start menu. These DO NOT disable trophies! Below I have listed the Red Bricks, how much they are, and in what location you can find them in the order listed in the Extras menu. For exact Red Brick specifics please see the There and Back Again trophy above

Of all the Inquisitive Hobbits
Unlock all the Map Stones in Middle-earth. (Single Player Only)

Map stones are statues that are located in every major area of the game. Whenever you complete a main story mission leading you into a new area, the map stone for that area, or the area you just completed will appear on your map. The Map Stones have two main purposes in the game. First, you can use the map stones as Fast Travel points to move to any location in Middle Earth very quickly. Second, the first time you interact with each one, all the available collectibles in middle earth will appear on the map: Fetch Quests, Red Bricks (when you unlock them), Characters to purchase, Mythril Bricks and Blacksmith Design Recipes. Now even if you haven't interacted with the stones you can still fast travel to them so don't be deceived thinking this activates them. For this trophy you must stand in front of each one and press the once to activate the stone dropping all the collectibles onto the map. Once you have activated all 16 Mapstones listed below, the trophy will unlock.
  1. Hobbiton
  2. Bree
  3. Weathertop
  4. Rivendell
  5. Pass of Caradhras
  6. Lothlorien

Here's a Pretty Thing!
Craft every Mithril item. (Single Player Only)

The Crafting Blacksmith in Bree will become available once you have completed the Fetch Quest for the Mithril Trowell to progress the main story in Bree. Once you have completed that quest, head to the Blacksmith anytime you want to craft a Mithril item from your list of Recipes. There are a total of 30 Blacksmith Recipes in the game, one in every story level, and one in the majority of each location in Middle Earth represented by an Envelope Icon. Once you have the recipe all you need is enough Mithril Bricks to craft the item and once you are finished the item is added to your Treasures for use in the Free Play of the game. The majority of these treasures actually serve a purpose and I will point those ones out to you, but a few of them are just for fun. Below is all the Mithril Items as well as where the Recipe for them can be found and there use. I have placed a break in the items between the story missions and Middle Earth to make it easier.

Ready for another Adventure
Achieve True Adventurer in every level. (Single Player Only)

Every main story level has a set amount of studs you must collect to hit the target number. The number is represented by the yellow stud gauge up top while you are playing. Every stud you collect in the level will count towards this gauge, even if it doesn't look like the gauge moves at all. While you are playing the Main Story you will most likely unlock a couple of these in your initial playthrough. If you miss some, don't worry about replaying them right away. Wait until your Free Plays and you will get them without even trying once you have collected the Stud Multiplier red bricks. Once you have achieved True Adventurer status in every level the trophy will unlock.

The Lord of the Ring
Complete the Bonus Level.

The bonus level for this game is located in Rivendell. After you have completed the game, look in Rivendell on the game map and you can see the icon for the Bonus Level which is labeled simply as "Middle earth" in the mountains to the right of Rivendell. Head through the waterfall to the left of where you find Gloin and you will find a secret valley with the bonus level. In the bonus level you will need to get 1,000,000 studs without any bonus multipliers by destroying things. If you have played a Lego game before then you will be familiar with this already, if not, all you have to do is destroy everything. As far as bonus levels go this one is a pretty easy one so you shouldn't have much of a problem with completing this one. Once you complete the bonus level you will receive Sauron and the Mouth of Sauron and the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Delved too Greedily...
Collect more than 10,000,000,000 studs. (Single Player Only)

This is a huge number of studs, but as long as you follow my roadmap at the top and get the Stud Multiplier red bricks as soon as possible you shouldn't have to do any farming to get this trophy. With all score multipliers you will have a multiplier of x3840 on all the studs that you pick up. You will also receive a bonus of 3.5 billion studs when you complete the final minkit that you need for all the minikits in the game. I went over the 10 billion stud mark as soon as I finished my final mission in Free Play to complete my collectibles run so following my roadmap will work for this. Now I have heard that some people have had issues with this trophy and it didn't unlock at the 10 billion mark. There is some lag on it so if it doesn't unlock right away just keep playing and it should unlock shortly after that as you are collecting. If you have to farm this, the Warg Attack main story mission is a good mission to play as you can get several high value studs in Theoden's throne room in a relatively quick amount of time, then save and exit and restart the level once you get into the Warg Atttack section.

[top]
I'm Glad to be with You
Complete a level in co-op.

For this level you must complete a STORY LEVEL playing in Co-op. This won't unlock if you do this in Free-Play. Easiest way to do this is to fire up a second controller and load up a level. I suggest the Battle for Pelennor Fields. Now let them collect a few studs and save and quit back to Middle Earh and the trophy hould unlock without even finishing the level for an easy trophy.

[top]
Don't Tell the Elf...
Throw Gimli 30 times.

If you are playing as a larger character you can pick up Gimli by standing next to him and pressing the . Once you pick him up, you can throw him at cracked tiles that are up in the air by waiting for the target to appear on the crack and then pressing the . There are enough of these opportunities in the main story and your cleanup that you won't need to do any farming to unlock this trophy. If you are obsessed with farming it out of the way early, you can simply throw Gimli back and forth between characters in any of the levels where you have more than two playable characters on the screen at the same time. As soon as you have thrown him 30 times the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Our only wish, to catch a Fish!
Fish perfectly 20 times by pressing the icon as it flashes.

Throughout the game there are Jettys (piers) in both the main story and in Middle Earth. These can be used to fish out fish, but they are mostly used to fish out key items such as keys and lever to get into secret areas. You can fish with either Gollum or Merry, or by using the Mithril Fishing Rod with any other character at any of the piers. When you fish a button icon will appear on the screen and a circle which represents the fishing line will close around the icon. When it gets to the icon a light will flash from the icon. This is the time to press the corresponding button for perfect fishing. There are enough of these piers to fish from while playing the story and doing your cleanup that as long as you do this early enough you shouldn't have to farm this. As soon as you fish perfectly 30 times the trophy will unlock

That is a Rare Gift
Reach the top of Amon Hen without being caught once by Boromir. (Single Player Only)

After passing through the Argonath into Gondor, Boromir finally succumbs to the allure of the Ring. If you have been paying close attention to the cutscene, you most likely knew this was coming. Boromir only has one thought in his head from the minute he stepped foot into Rivendell, "How can I get the Ring back to Minas Tirith?". Boromir finally turns on Frodo at Amon Hen and tries to take the ring from him which is a major turning point in the Fellowship quest and in the game as this is where the party gets divided for separate gameplay. In this level you will play as both Frodo, while he is in the Shadow World with the Ring on, and you can play as Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn as they search for Frodo.

While playing as Frodo, you are trying to get to the top of the mountain while avoiding Boromir who is still under the influence of the Ring and trying to take it from you. For this trophy you must make it all the way to the top of Amon Hen without being caught by Boromir. It isn't very difficult as long as you pay attention, but in case you get stuck, I will lay it out for you below.
  1. Grab a rock from the right side of the starting point, then move towards Boromir until you receive a target over his head to hit the rocks above him. Throw the rock which will cause him to run off.
  2. In the next area, head through the crawl space at the bottom of the stairs, then push the pillar off the ledge to distract Boromir.
  3. On the next area, sneak over to the left of Boromir and use the rock to knock down some debris on the left side. Use the debris to build a ramp up to the ledge above Boromir, and hit the bird at the end of the ledge. When he flies away the pillars will fall over startling him.
  4. In the next area, destroy all the rocks in the area, then use them to build a catapult. Now hit the catapult to launch a rock above Boromir startling him.
  5. In the next area, grab the nearby rock and throw it into the bushes above Boromir.
  6. Hit the small pile of rocks near the wall by Boromir to knock a stone loose. Now grab the stone and backtrack and you will see a pile of rocks inside a basket above you. Use the rock to knock these down and then build a small staircase from the debris. Head up to the upper ledge and push the pillar off the edge at the end to scare off Boromir.
  7. In the final area, head into the crawl space to get to the area to the right of Boromir. Destroy the rocks int he area to find a rock and then throw the rock at the pillar archway Boromir is standing under.

The last distraction will knock a bunch of rocks onto Boromir's head and bring him back to his senses and he will run off yelling he's sorry. At this point the trophy will unlock

...And Away he Goes, Precious!
Defeat Gollum as Gollum.

You can complete this trophy playing Free Play in Middle Earth

If you are really obsessed with getting this out of the way early, you can do this by replaying a level AFTER you have unlocked Gollum. I recommend just waiting until you have finished your playthrough. once you have done that make both of your characters Gollum, and then have one kill the other one for an easy trophy.

[top]
What About Second Breakfast?
Complete 2 cooking puzzles.

There are only a couple cooking puzzles on the game. There is one during the main story that you need to complete at the beginning of Weathertop, and there is another that is an optional puzzle to get collectibles during Amon Hen. To complete a cooking puzzle you will need to find a tomato, a fish and an egg and pick them up with Sam and combine them in your frying pan. You will then need to put together the fire pit in the area and start a fire with Sam to place the frying pan on to complete the cooking puzzle. The good part about this trophy is that the cooking puzzles are cumulative. This means you can simply repeat the cooking puzzle on Amon Hen during your Free Play and the trophy will unlock.

That One Counts as Mine!
Finish one of Gimli's opponents as Legolas in 'Helm's Deep'.

This trophy is brought about from the competition that Gimli and Legolas have during the battle of Helm's Deep where they compete to see who can kill the most Uruk-Hai. Both are elite warriors but unfortunately for Gimli, he doesn't have little pointy things to shoot at the enemies so he makes up for that by just getting into the middle of battle and taking on several of them at the same time. The easiest way to get this trophy is to just play the entire battle of Helm's Deep as Legolas. You are bound to shoot one of the enemies that are attacking Gimli during the battle just from launching arrows at all the enemies. As soon as you kill one of the Uruks that are battling with Gimli the trophy will unlock.

[top]
I've Always been Taller!
Use the Ent Draught on Pippin.

You can Complete this trophy in Free Play in Middle Earth

This trophy can be a little confusing if you don't know what you are doing on it. You can't achieve this trophy until you have unlocked either Free Play for the Track Hobbits level or until you have completed the game, which is what I recommend so you have free play on Middle Earth. The first thing you need to do is find the Ent Draught Treasure which is located in the Track Hobbits main story mission. You won't be able to get this until you are playing on Free Play, so don't worry about it on your first playthrough. For exact location please see the There and Back Again trophy above.

Now that you have your Ent Draught, unlike the movie, you don't actually drink it. Which is what I tried in every way you can think of, I even tried filling it at wells. All you need to do is make one character Pippen and make the other character anyone else you want. Control the character that isn't Pippen and hold the and select your Treasures. Now select the Ent Draught to equip it, Now all you have to do is go hit Pippen with the cup by pressing the . Pippen will immediately get "taller" and the trophy will unlock

We Cannot Linger
Complete 'The Mines of Moria' in under 15 minutes.

This trophy is easier than you think, as long as you know what you're doing. yes the Mines of Moria is a long level, but if you are doing a speed run, without looking for anything it isn't too bad. This is also playtime only, the 15 minutes does NOT include cutscene time, so it is entirely possible to get this on your first playthrough if you don't go for anything. Below is a quick mini walkthrough to tell you exactly what to do in each section to get through this faster.
  1. In the first section, you need to put together the well in back of the Tomb to proceed to the next area. Use Sam's Fire on the right side of the area to get a key for the chest, and then open the chest on the right pillar to get the gear for the mechanism. Now toss the gear in the mechanism and break open the tombs on the left and right sides of the well and put together the rest of the well. Now head over to the left and use Gimli on the cracked wall to get the lever for the mechanism. Head back over to the well and use the mechanism to complete the first section.
  2. In this section, you need to reinforce the door. Destroy the debris on the right and left sides of the door and build the reinforcements, now change to Legolas and shoot the targets on the right and left pillars of the door to lower the rope on each side. Grab the rope with Legolas then press the to change to your other character and grab the other rope to drop the board in front of the door to finish this section.
  3. This is the battle in the tomb. I recommend using Legolas so you can shoot the Goblins that enter the tomb from afar to move forward in the battle faster. Once the Cave Troll enters the battle really begins. Using Legolas, build the platform in the middle area and stand on it so the Cave Troll tries to smash it, then jump off and let him hit himself. Now head over to either the left or right and jump up to the upper level. Hit the small pillar on the edge of the walkway to expose a platform and stand on it and wait for the cave troll to attack you. Jump off as he attacks, then jump onto his chain, and shoot him in the face with your bow. Drop down and build the debris into a crawlspace. Now head over to the left side and repeat the process for this side to complete the first part of the battle.
  4. In the second part of the battle, you will start out riding the troll with Merry. Whack away at him with the until he stops moving and then change to Legolas and shoot him in the face. Change back to a hobbit, and crawl through one of the crawlspaces on either the left or the right . At the second level, stand in the yellow ring and press the to jump onto the Cave Troll's back and repeat the process. Now head over to the opposite side and repeat the process again to finish this section.
  5. In this third part, you are battling your way towards the bridge of Khazad-Dum. In this section you need to walk inside of Gandalf's shield and destroy any of the Goblin commanders that make their way into the shield. I recommend using Aragorn or Boromir as they seem to dispatch them faster than anyone else. Once the Balrog scares away the Goblins, you will need to open the large door to head to the next area. Use Gimli to break the crack on the wall, and then rebuild the floor with the pieces. Now push the cart through the opening which pushes the wheel into place that's on top of the cart. Use Pippin to get water from the well on the left, and use that to put out the fire in the middle. Now change to Gandalf and use him to lift the purple gear into it's place on the wall. Now destroy the debris on the left side of the door to get the lever for the mechanism and use this to open the door.
  6. At the crumbling stair case, just jump down to the bottom and watch the cutscene. Now toss Gimli over the gap to break the cracked block. Change to Sam and crawl through the cralwspace that's created, then use Sam to cross over the tightrope and light a fire on the other side to collapse the pillars. Now climb back up and change to Legolas and shoot the targets to drop the ramp and then continue down the stairs.
  7. The next section is the battle the Gandalf and the Balrog. This should be quick and easy. Hold the while you are falling to speed fall to make it faster. When you are on the Balrog the first time just whack away at him with the until you get the prompt to stab him with the . The second and third attacks, he will breathe fire at you which he precedes with a big breath of air making it very easy to move left or right to avoid, and keep attacking. After three stabs from Gandalf, this section ends.
  8. In the final section, change to Legolas, and head up the ramp. Shoot the target, then swing across to the final section. Hit the lever on the left to lower the ladder for your team, then change to Gimli so you can break the cracked tile to open the final gate and leave the area.

Dance of the Dead
Turn an enemy into a skeleton and make them dance.

As long as you know what you are doing this is a very easy trophy. The first thing you need for this is either the Mithril Skeleton Bow or the Mithril Skeleton Sword. Both of these items will turn your enemy into a skeleton on the first hit. Once you have acquired the Blacksmith Recipe for either of these, head to the Blacksmith in Bree and craft the weapons. Now you need the Mithril Disco Phial. After you have all of these items, go find yourself an enemy. An enemy will do, and there are usually orcs roaming around inside the Black Gate on the way into Mordor. After you turn one of them into a skeleton, head into your treasures and equip the Mithril Disco Phial and they will start to dance and the trophy will unlock.

Pointy-Eared Elvish Princeling
Defeat 42 Uruk-hai as Legolas.

You will battle several Uruk-Hai in the game. The best two levels for this are the Amon Hen and Helm's Deep main story missions. In these story missions you will get to play as Legolas as one of your characters. If you don't know who Legolas is..... . He is the one with the bow >:F. Anyway for this trophy you simply need to defeat 42 of the Uruk-Hai using Legolas so all you need to do is use him as your playable character and you will unlock this during the main story without even needing to farm this. If you don't unlock this during normal gameplay, simply replay the Helm's Deep level until the trophy unlocks.

[top]
One does not Simply...
Walk into Mordor.

This trophy has quite a bit of lag in it. During the free play, simply walk through the Black Gates of Mordor and roam around inside until the trophy unlocks. This DOES NOT work if you fast travel directly into Mordor. Keep roaming around all over Mordor until it unlocks.

[top]
Great!... Where are we Going?
Form The Fellowship of the Ring.

This is a story Based trophy.

This will unlock once you have completed the story events in Rivendell and formed the Fellowship of the Ring which consists of: Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Gimli, Legolas, Aragorn, Boromir and Gandalf. (Insert imitation of "And you have my Axe" here.) After meeting with Elrond and watching the cutscene you will have control of the entire Fellowship as you set out for the Pass of Caradhras for the next main story mission and the trophy unlocks.

Taking the Hobbits to Isengard
Travel to Isengard as every playable Hobbit.

I recommend waiting to try and get this when you are doing your cleanup. For this you must travel to Isengard, which is above Helm's Deep, with every Hobbit in the game. Now you CAN'T simply stand in the middle of Isengard and change through all the Hobbits, that doesn't work, you must actually travel there. You CAN however, just stand by the Mapstone, change characters and Fast Travel to Isengard which should be the same place you are standing. You don't need to fast travel to another area, or walk away and fast travel back to get this trophy. Below is a list of all the Hobbits in the game that you need to Fast Travel with to unlock this trophy.
  • Frodo
  • Sam
  • Merry
  • Pippin
  • Rosie
  • Bilbo Baggins

That Still Only Counts as One!
Defeat an Oliphaunt as Legolas.

This is a story Based trophy.

You will encounter Oliphaunts twice in this game. The first is in the Dead Marshes as you are playing as Faramir and the second is in the second final section of the Battle of Pelennor Fields. That's when you will earn this trophy. In this section you will be playing as Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas as they take down two Oliphaunts. Once of them must be taken down with Aragorn and the second MUST be taken down with Legolas. Shoot some arrows into the slots on the side of the Oliphaunt and use these arrow poles to swing up to the basket on the Oliphaunts back. Take out all the bandits in the basket, then jump up to the upper section and take down the driver. Once you do that, go to the front of the Oliphaunt and press the to shoot an arrow in the Oliphaunts head to take him down and unlock the trophy.

An Expected Journey
Travel to Trollshaws as Bilbo.

Trollshaws is the location where Bilbo vanquished over the trolls during the Hobbit. For those of you unfamiliar with the Hobbit, shame on you by the way, this is also the location where Arwen takes Frodo to ride for Rivendell. Trollshaws, is located to the right if Weathertop, across the bridge in between Weathertop and Rivendell. You can also find Bilbo's stone trolls here if you look around. Now that you know the location, you need a Bilbo. There are two Bilbo's in the game to purchase, one in Rivendell that is available as soon as you can go into Rivendell during the main story, and one in Bag End that isn't available until after you have finished the game. Once you have your Bilbo, change to that character and fast travel to Weathertop then walk across the bridge to Trollshaws and roam around for a second or two until the trophy unlocks.

Return of the Mushroom King
Equip Aragorn with the Mushroom Crown.

The first thing you need to do for this trophy is find the Mushroom Crown. I recommend not worrying about this until you are on your cleanup playthrough for the collectibles in the levels. The Mushroom Crown can be found in The Black Rider main story mission. After you find the Mushroom Crown, make sure Aragorn is your character you are playing with, then head into your Treasures and select the Mushroom Crown and Aragorn will put it on and the trophy will unlock. I recommend using standard Aragorn for this trophy as when I tried it with Aragorn (Royal Armor) the trophy wouldn't unlock.

Worth Greater Than the Shire
Dress a character completely in treasure items.

I would wait until you are almost finished with the game to worry about this trophy. For this trophy you simply need to equip items for your head, body, feet and hands from your Treasures to be fully armored in treasures. I have found, that equipping a sword in one hand and a shield in the other didn't work for me, so I recommend either the Mithril Gloves or Mithril Boxing Gloves, along with some type of boots or greaves, armor, and some type of hat or helmet. To equip them, simply go to your Treasures and select them and press the and your character will automatically equip them. Once you have equipped an item in each area the trophy will unlock.

It Won't be That Easy!
During 'Prologue', jump into the fires of Mount Doom as Isildur.

At the very top of Mt. Doom, Isildur becomes weak and decides to keep the one ring for himself. This is your one chance to stop all of this suffering that takes place over the next set of events from happening. Instead of allowing yourself to become corrupted by the ring, once you are inside the volcano , BEFORE you walk to the end of the walkway, throw yourself off the edge into the lava below thus ending Sauron's reign of terror forever and unlocking your trophy.

If you go all the way to the end of the ramp, the cutscene to end the level will begin and you will miss your chance to do this and will have to replay the entire level again.

Craft the Fire and Ice Bows. (Single Player Only)

The Mithril Fire and Ice Bows allow you to have some fun with your enemies by freezing them or lighting them on fire when you shoot them with the bows. The bows can also be used just like any other bow to shoot targets and to shoot arrows into the arrow slots to make poles to swing on to get to new areas. You DON'T need to complete the Fetch Quests, or even start them to get the trophy for this, you simply need to find the Blacksmith Design Recipe for both of them, then head to the Blacksmith and craft both of them. The Mithril Ice Bow can be found in the Cirith Ungol main story level and the Mithril Fire Bow can be found in Helm's Deep main story level. Once you have crafted both of these the trophy will unlock.
