Getting Started:

At the main menu, you will have a good choice of options to choose from. Single Player will let you race in single events, the Championship Mode will be 16 race events, Multiplayer will allow you to race other players online up to 12 maximum. Once you pick a race, you can select either an MX motorcycle or an ATV. The MX is a light, manoeuvrable bike better on bumpy tracks and for FreeStyle Tricks, select the ATVs that are more stable on long flat tracks. By default, is the accelerator, the controls movement, and is the brake. These controls can be configured in the Options Menu easily. The Reflex system rider controls are explained prior to starting the game in MotoSkills in the tutorial learn some new tricks, practise and grab a few Trophies. The total time in completing the games trophies is taking into account the difficulty of organizing the "To the Victor... trophy which is the hardest Trophy on this game. There are a few cheat codes listed below but none interfere with the trophies and are mainly to add to the Arcade mode.

Jump Tricks:

When performing any tricks use the multiplier together with the using different direction combinations, there is are a few things you want to keep in mind. The more times you perform the same trick, the fewer points will be awarded in the Series for the judges, so keep it fresh and use a wide variety of tricks in your jumps, you also get multiplier points for each additional trick you perform while in the air, so doing three quick different tricks will earn you more points than holding one trick for a long time. You may also want to practice this in Free Ride FreeStyle Mode be first to see which tricks can be pulled off the fastest. Last of all make sure you pull out of the trick and get straightened out before landing, or you will wipeout and lose all the points from that jump.

Single Player and Arcade Mode:

From the Single Player menu, you can choose Freestyle Free Ride, practise those "tricks", Racing or Free Ride included in Arcade Mode also. Later in the game, there is a Challenges Mode to unlock so extra bonus here. In Freestyle mode, perform stunts to really rack up points. To perform a stunt, hit the stunt button multiplier or the button or both stunt buttons together. In Racing mode, speed is the name of the game. There are several different modes and track styles, but the goal is always to cross the finish line first. You can perform tricks during your races for points, but they are not that necessary. In Free Ride, just pick a track and go practice. The two Trophy's "Wheelie King" and "Stoppie Master" can be done in Arcade Mode Free Ride. The "You are Legend" Trophy must be done on the All time difficulty setting at Arcade Mode in a race, this is the easiest mode and its not actually that hard to unlock the trophy.

Championship:

There are two championship modes, Nationals and SX. In Nationals mode, you are racing on large outdoor tracks, in SX, you are on smaller stadium tracks. In both modes, the basics are the same. There are 16 tracks, and your goal is to win as many races as possible to earn the highest standing at the end of it all. You can choose to practice before the official races to learn the track and get a better placement. As with Single Player Racing, tricks are purely optional unless its the FreeStyle Series your in.

Store:

The store is where you spend all the hard-earned points you gained through performing tricks. You can purchase new vehicles, tricks, equipment, clothes, and more. The best way to rack up the points you need quickly is to perform in the Freestyle events. After a few events, you will have enough points to buy whatever you may want.

Map Editor:

When making your tracks, add an activity if you want your track to be raceable, make sure you add a start and a finish, test your track to make sure it works, and export your track in order to make it show up in your game.
The game shows a very comprehensive map editor that allows you to create your own tracks and to import tracks that you can find online. When you export a track, save it to the default folder to be able to use it.

Multiplayer:

There are a total of 7 trophies to unlock online listed below. You will need to win the two different mini-games, win online against 12 human opponents, and complete and win in 25 online playlist events. When you enter into the multiplayer section of the game you are presented with a list of modes to play. These are the online play-list events. You can only win on the playlisted events, the private rooms do not count towards any of the online trophies.

Waypoint Series 1
Place 3rd or higher in the Waypoint Series 1 in the MotoCareer

To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Enter Waypoint Series 1 During Motocareer And Place 3rd Or Better. There is two Races in each of the Waypoint Series. I advise you to use the Sport Truck 2 which is the best vehicle to use for this event, which is the easiest event of them all. Cut some corners which will also give you the advantage to win. Try to stay ahead and avoid crashes. Play these events on Rookie to get the trophy,s easier, I will state when the setting must change on the Trophy list.

To Unlock this Trophy, You Must Enter The National Series 1 During Motocareer And Finish 3rd Or Higher. On this series you have the option to qualify on three laps so practise the tracks and find a good racing line. I think this series was the hardest to race in because of the Track Surface being dug up and difficult to control the motorcycle. This series I recommend you use the MX Motorcycle a good lightweight machine ideal for these tracks. Pay good attention to your racing line and avoid being stuck between other riders or you will get left behind. You must also finish in the top 3 here and first in the other two National 2 and 3 events to gain the podium wins. There are 3 races in this this Series.

Pay attention to jumps, stay straight, have full control and land the motorcycle correctly. Do not approach jumps at the wrong angle you will go off the track when landing, remember also your MotoSkills tutorial here, pull back on to soften landing's and keep up your speed. There are 3 races in this Series.

To Unlock this Trophy, You Must Enter The Freestyle Series 1 During Motocareer And Finish 3rd Or Higher. This is the Series for the Tricks, play this event on Rookie still as all previous events so far it makes it an easier job to grab those Trophy,s. The idea is to get some high air and impress the judge's with different tricks try not to repeat the same one's. The best tricks are the Tier 4 ones in the "Tier Library" access these at the pause menu its maximum points when you land these. There is 2 events in this Series.

This Series is an all out mixed race you can use any of the super buggies, super trucks or ATV,s, but there is a risk of getting stuck with other riders on the track, I would recommend the MX or MX lite Motorcycle to get around the corners quicker. You may also collect the "Coming on Strong" Trophy at this Track for lapping an opponent if your lucky. There is 3 races in this Series.

This Series race is an easy one using the same beach track in both directions, the only thing about this is make sure your cornering on the track is accurate slow down when entering and speed up when leaving the corners, places can be lost otherwise. To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Enter And Win All Face-off Challenges During Your Motocareer. This Trophy can be obtained easily, it will unlock after these final events are completed, the National Series 3, the Omnicross Series 3, the Supercross Series 3 and the Champion Sport Track Series 3. Place 1st in an Online Playlist match with 11 human opponents

To Unlock This Trophy, You must Enter and Finish 1st in an Online Playlist with at least 11 human players. This is the Hardest Trophy on the game see heading above Getting Started. The best playlist online to join is the nationals playlist try to join a 10 or 11 player playlist and of course you have to come first so not easy. Your connection also has to be good as not to get dropped from the race. It helps to use friends with this or make friends try to plan this Trophy if you can not find 11 players to join. It will take concentration and a fair few attempts as there is some good players on this game online.

[top]
Endurance
Complete 25 Online Playlist matches

To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Enter And Finish 25 Online Playlist Matches. Another time consuming Trophy you only need to finish 25 races but if you win 25 you can obtain the Trophy "Long Live the King" at the same time. When you start this if you are not gaining any places or winning try another playlist race that you find easier and suited to you then it should not take too long to complete. Keep track of your online races which you have won by going to the main menu select the "Motocard" select "Trophies" and then go to "Long Live the King" Trophy here will show you how many wins out of 25 you have so its saved for you to view.

[top]
Leveler
Finish ahead of any opponent with an Experience Level higher than yours in an Online Playlist match

To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Beat An Opponent With An Experience Level Or Anything Higher Than Yours During An Online Playlist Match. I recommend you use the sport buggie for this online trophy also try to pick the "off road mayhem" playlist. The reason for these options is that this playlist track is bumpy most of the online players use motorcycles and you can knock them down or run over the competition in a sport buggie, gain extra place's quicker. The game will track your progress and the trophy will come easier on these options.

[top]
You're It!
Win a Tag Mini-Game in an Online Playlist match

To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Win a Tag Mini-Game During An Online Playlist Match. To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Enter A Freestyle Event And Earn A Judge Score Of 10. Before attempting this Trophy go to the pause menu and enter the "Trick Library" scroll to the bottom and study the Tier 4 tricks, use as many of these as you can and your difficulty score will rise easily. [top]
Coming on Strong
Lap an Opponent in a Race

To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Lap Your Opponent During A Race. The best way to unlock this Trophy is to enter the split screen mode in the multiplayer menu use two controllers with a partner and just lap your opponent. I unlocked this Trophy towards the end of career as I got better and faster on the tracks, whichever way suits you, not that difficult on rookie.

[top]
Ace in the Hole
Win 10 Holeshots

To Unlock This Trophy, You Need To Earn 10 Holeshots.
Using the MTX or ATV, when your at the start gate you will notice a white line on the first straight near the first corner, the rider who is the first one past this line wins the holeshot, 10 required here so this will unlock as you go along the career providing you are first to that white line.
Holeshots are gaps of being first to the white line as the race starts any race.
See note bottom of Guide "Holeshots"

[top]
Showboat
Pull off three unique tricks in a Race Event

To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Finish A Race Using A Machine That Has All Of Its Body Panels Attached To Your Vehicle. You must complete any race using the sport buggie or sport truck, do not hit any other vehicles or objects no need to win just cross the finish line in one piece.

[top]
Skeletal Remains
Complete a Race in a Machine with no body panels remaining on your vehicle

To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Finish A Race Using A Machine That Has Lost All Of Its Body Panels On Your Vehicle. Have some fun here use the sport buggie as it has less panels then the sport truck, just hit everything and go mad remove those panels, again no need to finish first just cross the line in your bare shell.

[top]
Wreck-less
Avoid a Wreck

To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Not Crash into Barriers,Walls or other Vehicles in One set Race. When you follow the tutorial especially on the MX Motorcycles there is a green arrow that appears where you have to use the toggle to re-balance your motorcycle and avoid a wreck. At this Trophy one of these re-balance moves is required when you see the green arrow in an actual race. You must be still on your motorcycle after you complete the move to obtain the Trophy.

[top]
Close Calls!
Avoid 100 Wrecks

To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Not Crash into Barriers,Walls or other Vehicles in 100 set Races. Same description as the "Avoid a Wreck" Trophy but this has to be done 100 times. You can track the amounts by opening the "Motocard" in the main menu and scroll down to the trophy here "Close Calls", where it will tell you how many times out of 100 you have done.

[top]
You are Legend
Place 1st in any Race on All-Time difficulty

To Unlock This Trophy, Finish 1st on the All-Time Difficulty Setting. First of all select the All Time Difficulty setting at the AI Opponents menu by pressing the when your in the Arcade Mode, then select which series you find the easiest like lets say the Supercross Series, then choose which vehicle you are comfortable with and of course select your own rider or a named rider. Select then at the locations menu which track you find the easiest to race on. Just try to finish first on your chosen set-up not that difficult comes with practise.

[top]
Long Jumper
Land a jump distance of 300 feet or greater

To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Perform A Jump For Up To 300 Feet Or Above. Easy Trophy to obtain I suggest the Reyes location which has lots of big hills try to do this in Free ride then you can practise for a while.

[top]
Wheelie King
Hold a Wheelie trick for 150 feet or longer

To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Perform A Wheelie For 150 feet or Longer. Best done in Free ride again using the MX. I suggest the Reyes location where this is also lots of flat area's to practise, the place where you spawn at the start is the best area. Keep pulling back on the Toggle as you speed up and balance between acceleration and brake as your speed levels off to constant. Practise makes Perfect again just keep trying and be patient.

[top]
Stoppie Master
Hold a Stoppie trick for 75 feet or longer

To Unlock This Trophy, You Must Perform A Stoppie For 75 feet or Longer. Best done in Free Ride again using the MX but this is more difficult to do. I suggest the Reyes track again having long flat area's. First of all gain some good speed then push up on the right analog stick whilst pressing the button to bring up the rear wheel if the rear wheel rises too much then accelerate to compensate this. Again be patient and practise.

[top]Notes:

Explanations for unclear word terms used in this game are added below.
Holeshots: "Get the jump out of the gate and grab the "holeshot" be first to the white line at the first corner. Take the inside line as you battle for 1st place against 7 other riders pushing your bike's power and handling to the limit!" Achieve Trophy-"Win 10 Holeshots".
Tuning Slider Apparently this can be adjusted on the MX or ATV settings for the braking and steering adjustments in the garage menu to Achieve Trophy-"Tuning In".

[top]Closing Comments:

MX vs. ATV Reflex is in my opinion a medium to hard game to finish depending on experience in playing these racing favourites, the controls are great but often tricky with the new reflex system, takes a little getting use to. Track design is at the top of its class and there are enough events here to keep you coming back for more, compliments to mention, some very solid and capable online components, includes some well known riders such as Ricky Carmichael, Jeremy McGrath, Josh Grant and Ryan Villopoto. If you're a fan of offroad racing, this is definitely worth a serious look, although don't go in expecting an easy time.
