[top]Tips & Strategies

1) Skip cutscenes with if you want.
2) With one controller, you can alternate between two characters at will with and . You can revive the other character if he/she is KO’d by pressing .
3) KO’d enemies who aren’t immediately revived regain nearly full health before getting back up. So if you have low health and there’s a break in the action, you can just off yourself, wait, and regenerate with much more health.
4) When going for Heroic Attack kills, keep in mind that some enemies need to be softened up first, otherwise you’ll waste your special move.
5) If one of your characters makes it through a doorway/checkpoint, the other character will join automatically.
6) When working on picking up all the stone fragments (there are hundreds) be sure to collect all the stones in an area before finishing off the enemies or solving the puzzles in that area, because if you trigger the next scene you’ll not be able to go back and get the stones, unless you quickly pause and restart the last checkpoint.
7) When you’re in free play mode and you’re switching out characters, take it one step further and switch the computer-controlled character also. During a battle, it’s always a good plan to have two characters with area-based attacks, such as Thor and Scarlet Witch.
8) There are a few extra stone fragments of each type in the game so you don’t have to worry about finding ALL of each type, you just have to come pretty close. There are maybe 5 extra of each type.
9) Some of the non-stone collectibles can be found within levels while others can be picked up on your base ship. The collectibles on your base ship will appear as you progress through the story, but once they appear, they stay. You can collect any or all of them any time after you finish story mode just by exploring the ship.
10) The game does freeze on occasion. If that happens and you’re unlucky, you’ll lose a bit of saved data. I had all the trophies for completing Heroic Feats, but I had not unlocked Super Achiever!. This was because the game froze while I was going back to the challenge select screen, right after I'd finished an Heroic Feat, and the first trophy unlocked before the freeze, but second never unlocked. Anyway, this could be frustrating while you’re going through the challenges. You may want to put several challenges in your playlist, but that might be risky—if the game freezes at the wrong time, you might lose a bit of data. It’s up to you.

[top]Roadmap

Step 1: If you want to save time, set the difficulty to “Challenging” and play through all eleven levels to complete story mode. This takes advantage of the stacking-difficulty trophies in the game. Challenging mode isn’t hard, but can be a little annoying in some parts. Just burn through it. You can stop to pick up items if you want, but you’ll get all of that done in the next step of the roadmap, and Free Play mode is easier.

Step 2: Replay all the levels in Free Play. Now you need to collect the required amounts of stone fragments and all the non-fragment collectibles. I have provided a list of non-fragment collectibles in two places: a) right below this step there’s a chronological guide in the spoiler and b) each Heroic Feat trophy lists the non-fragment collectibles needed for each hero. In Free Play mode, you can get access to areas you couldn’t during Story Mode by virtue of having access to all the heros. To switch to any character you want, hold or to open the list of heroes, navigate up and down the list, and hit to confirm. This allows you to access previously inaccessible areas and to go into fights with your favorite characters.

Chronological Collectibles Guide – to be used during step 2 of the roadmap, after you’ve finished Story Mode.

Step 3: Complete all the Challenge Mode challenges. You should wait to do this until you’ve completed all heroic feats since as a reward you unlock more challenges. There are three trophies that require challenge completion and I’ve listed some tips under each of them.

Step 4: Mop up. You likely won’t need this. Take advantage of the level select to finish earning the trophies and pop the .

This level contains a variety of stone fragments rather than only one kind like in the first seven levels.

[top]
Nothing is Forever
Saved Super Hero City and Redeemed Silver Surfer.

Story related and cannot be missed. This trophy will pop when you finish level 11. This level is basically a series of boss battles, a few of which can be annoying. In particular, try to avoid getting cloned as it's frustrating when the computer uses your own attacks on you. There are no collectibles in this level so just battle through and be happy you'll only have to play this level once.

[top]
Squad Initiate
Completed Story Mode on Easy Difficulty.

Stackable and story related, so it cannot be missed. Finishing all eleven levels in Story Mode on Easy, Normal, or Challenging will pop this trophy for you.

Stackable and story related, so it cannot be missed. Finishing all eleven levels in Story Mode on Normal or Challenging will pop this trophy for you.

[top]
Squad Hero
Completed Story Mode on Challenging Difficulty.

Story related and cannot be missed. Complete all eleven levels in Story Mode on Challenging to pop this trophy along with Squad Member and Squad Initiate.

[top]
Patience is a Virtue
You waited calmly in Grandmaster’s Green Room.

At the beginning of level 5, the game-show level, don't give in to temptation—leave all the furniture in tact. Just sit there until the lady lets you through the door. Ding.

[top]
Safety First
Defend the S.H.I.E.L.D. Building without losing a power node.

At the end of level 7, at the top of the building, you’ll have to protect three circular power nodes from attack by Doombots. The fight lasts for three minutes or so. If the next cutscene triggers and all nodes are in tact, this trophy will pop. Note that each node as three states: they can be fully in tact, about halfway intact (they extend their power caps), and not at all intact (the node explodes and looks like an empty hole).

If you struggle to do this in Story Mode, don’t worry. Come back using Free Play and choose two characters with area-based attacks to make the defense easier.

[top]
Jump Hero!
Barrel Jumping Hero.

In level 7, when you’re ascending a scaffold-type structure and Abomination is rolling silver barrels down at you, try to make it to the top without getting hit by any of them. If you get hit by one of the barrels, just pause and restart the checkpoint. You’ll start right at the bottom of the ramps. If you can’t do this during Story Mode, just come back using Free Play. You can pick a character that can fly/hover to make it easier.

[top]
Elite Hack Master
Completed every hack challenge.

There are six timed hack challenges. In each challenge, there are six hacks you must complete. Successfully hack all six circuits within the time limit for each of the six challenges to pop this trophy. These can be frustrating and will require practice and patience. Some circuits have superfluous components. If you start creating a path that leads to a dead end, press to reset that hack.

[top]
Robo Racer
Completed every race challenge.

There are six timed race challenges. In each race, you must complete five laps around the track. Successfully complete five laps without taking shortcuts within the time limit for each of the six races to pop this trophy. Only one of these is challenging; the rest are cakewalks. The blue areas speed you up, the yellow bumps slow you down, and the bombs will explode your racer, wasting precious seconds.

[top]
Challenge Master
Completed each challenge at least once.

This trophy pops when you’ve completed all challenges in each of the six challenge categories. Not all challenges are unlocked initially. You must beat the game and complete all Heroic Feats before you’ll be able to play all the challenges. For the Super Smash challenges, you can just let the controller sit idly as the time goes down.

“Survival” can be tricky, so pick your favorite character as you’ll be facing a lot of enemies at once. Get familiar with and use the stone pickups to your advantage. Also, going all out and fighting every single enemy may not be the answer. I had more luck being blocking a lot and being smart about when to use your Heroic Attacks.

Note that "completing" a challenge implies you placed on the scoreboard with an actual completion time or a score higher than zero. Thanks to Des Collins for helping me figure this out.

For getting the part of I’m Firing My Laser!, I found it easy to get on the "Moons Over Thanos" level when you're fighting Thanos & the Super Skrull. Not long after the fight starts you & your partner get unlimited Superhero Powerup, & about 4-6 times in the fight Thanos makes 4 clones of himself, if you can manage to get all 4 of them each time he unleashes them, then you & your partner die right before the end, you'll be able to get this in 2-4 tries.
