[top]Tips & Strategies

[top]General

  • Click here to download the full Mass Effect 3 PS3 Manual
  • Medi-gel is only necessary to revive your fallen comrades at a distance. If you can get close to your downed ally, focus on them and press to revive them without using Medi-gel. This is crucial in later stages of Insanity where supplies become scarce.
  • All kill related trophies are a cumulative total of your online and offline play for the game and across multiple playthroughs. So if you don't have the necessary powers to acquire some of the kills offline, you can acquire them online.
  • If you are having trouble with an area, try positioning your squad at different locations using the and buttons. Becoming a pro with your strategies can help out a lot, especially on the Insanity playthrough.
  • Despite what the game will tell you, low damage and a high rate of fire doesn't make up for raw power
  • If you took the time to complete the Kingdoms of Amalur Demo, the Chakram Launcher is by far the best Assault Rifle in the game and will help you greatly on Insanity.
  • When you bring up the Weapon radial or Power radial using or you will also bring up a radar screen in the lower right corner. Make a point to check this radar frequently to keep track of the numbers and positions of enemies to avoid being flanked or surrounded. If your position is in danger of being overrun, withdraw to a better position before re-engaging the enemy.
  • While a Weapon or Power Radial is open, time is stopped. If you're taking fire from an unexpected direction instantly hold or and look around. Reassess the situation and decide what to do before releasing the button.
  • ME2 Arrival DLC If you still have ME2, I recommend purchasing and playing this DLC before you start to play ME3. This obviously isn't required, but if you want a more complete Mass Effect story I recommend it as it will begin after the suicide mission and bridges the gap between the two games.

[top]Military Strength, Readiness Rating, and Effective Military Strength

When playing the Mass Effect 3 campaign, Shepard gathers War Assets to fight against the Reapers. There are three statistics to measure your progress in this area:
  • Total Military Strength (TMS) is the sum of the value of all War Assets acquired
  • Readiness Rating (RR) is a measurement of how effectively the War Assets are fighting (starts at 50%)
  • Effective Military Strength (EMS) is calculated by multiplying the Total Military Strength by your Readiness Rating
This means that by default, all of your War Assets are fighting at half effectiveness unless you raise your Readiness Rating through playing multiplayer games. Some trophies and endings require a high EMS value, such as Master and Commander, and while Bioware has said that it is possible to see every ending without playing multiplayer, this makes it much more difficult. Each game of the Galaxy at War multiplayer that you play raises your Readiness Rating, allowing a far greater percentage of your Total Military Strength to count towards your Effective Military Strength.
  • If the host of the game sets the map selection to Random, winning the challenge will earn you a 3% bonus to Readiness in all five regions of the galaxy.
  • If the host of the game chooses a specific map, winning the challenge will earn you a 7% bonus to Readiness in the region of space that the map is in, as well as a 1% bonus to the other four regions.
  • If you fail to complete the challenge, you will receive a small bonus based on your performance.
  • For each 24 hour period of real time that passes, your Readiness Rating in all five regions will drop by 1%.

[top]Importing from Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 3 will let you import your characters, from Mass Effect 2 for use in the game. All the choices that you made in Mass Effect 2 AND the Interactive Mass Effect 1 Comic will play into effect if you import your character into ME3. If you are starting out on ME2 and want to know exactly how to build up your choices to have an elite import file for ME3, the video below will help you. The video below DOES contain some spoilers from ME2, so watch at your own risk.

This is all optional of course, you do NOT need to build an Elite Import File to platinum this game, but for any looking to do so, this may help with your questions.

[top]Roadmap

For returning Mass Effect Veterans importing a ME2 save file, you can complete this platinum in one playthrough. However, it is recommended that you play through two playthroughs whether you are a ME3 n00b or a ME3 Veteran. The main reason for this suggestion is the Veteran trophy. One playthrough of the game with no online play will net you about 1800 kills of the 5000 you need. for the trophy. If you choose this path. you will need to toss out a massive grind for the remaining 3200 kills you need to finish the game in one playthrough. Below we will cover the path to take for one playthrough and two playthroughs to help everyone on their Path to Platinum.

[top]Two Playthroughs

Recommended Path for all Players

Playthrough 1
  • Start out either a New Game or a New Game/ME2 Import on either easy or normal. This playthrough you want to concentrate on getting all the main story missions, missable side missions and N7 missions.
  • Depending on the class you choose, you should also be able to finish Pyromaniac, Sky High and Overload Specialist.
  • If you are playing the Campaign as a Soldier Class, you will need to play the online as an Engineer Class to have access to Overload for the Overload Specialist trophy
  • Concentrate on locating enough War Assets to bring your total to at least 4,000 in Total Military Strength.
  • Begin playing the online. The Theater of War will carry over to multiple playthroughs so start this now and play 2-3 maps per night mixed in with your normal gameplay unless you want a big grind at the end. If you used a default character in the Story mode, you will unlock the Enlisted trophy when you begin the online mode after you create your character. Your goal for this playthrough is to get your Readiness Rating to a high enough percentage that you have an Effective Military Strength rating of over 4,000 before you begin the attack on Cerberus. This will get you the Master and Commander trophy.
  • Try and complete the following kill related trophies by the end of this playthrough:
    1. Eye of the Hurricane
    2. Mail Slot
    3. Hijacker
    4. Bruiser
    5. Combined Arms

  • You should also acquire these trophies by the end of your first playthrough:
    1. Paramour
    2. Shopaholic
    3. Lost and Found
    4. Focused
    5. Recruit
    6. Soldier
    7. Untouchable
    8. Always Prepared

Playthrough 2
  • Go to the Options Menu from the Main menu and change the difficulty to Insanity, then choose new game and Import a Mass Effect 3 Character. This will unlock the Battle Scarred Trophy. If you imported a ME2 character on your first playthrough, your ME3 import will automatically have all the same defaults from your ME2 playthrough, plus all your accumulated experience, reputation, weapons, mods, upgrades and credit from your previous ME3 playthrough. In addition, you will have access to any of the bonus powers that you unlocked on your previous ME3 playthrough, and it will allow you to select one at the beginning of your new game.
  • Make sure you play all 27 Main Story Missions, Side Missions, and N7 Missions during this playthrough! You should already know how the missions run and when they become unavailable. This will unlock the Unwavering trophy at the end of the game. You will also unlock the Tour of Duty trophy if you missed it in your first playthrough.
  • Continue playing the online. Your focus for this playthrough is to get every section in the Theater of War map to 100% readiness. This will unlock the Defender trophy. Remember to play a couple maps a day and you should have this by the end of your playthrough.
  • As soon as you have enough money, hit the upgrade terminal in the Shuttle Bay in the Normandy to upgrade your favorite weapon to level 10 for the Gunsmith trophy.
  • Complete all remaining kill trophies you have leftover in this playthrough.
  • Finish off the Almost There and Peak Condition trophy. If you used a ME2 save you most likely finished these in your first playthrough. If you started fresh, you should be able to hit level 60 using the NG+ option by the end of this playthrough, or level 20 online.
  • Complete the game. This will unlock you the Insanity trophy and the Long Service Medal if you didn't already earn it from the first playthrough on a ME2 import.

Cleanup
  • This final step might be necessary if you need any kills left for the Veteran trophy. You can either grind them out online or start a 3rd playthrough to play until you get to 5,000 kills. This should be the last trophy you need for your platinum.
  • Ding! N7 Elite

[top]One Playthrough

Optional for players using a Mass Effect 2 Import File
  • Go to the Options Menu from the Main menu and change the difficulty to Insanity, then choose new game and Import a Mass Effect 2 Character.
  • Make sure you play all 27 Main Story Missions, Side Missions, and N7 Missions during this playthrough! You should already know how the missions run and when they become unavailable. This will unlock the Unwavering trophy at the end of the game. This will also unlock the Tour of Duty trophy and the related N7 mission trophies for completion.
  • Concentrate on locating enough War Assets to bring your total to at least 4,000 in Total Military Strength.
  • Begin playing the online. Play 2-3 maps per night mixed in with your normal gameplay unless you want a big grind at the end. If you used a default character in the Story mode, you will unlock the Enlisted trophy when you begin the online mode after you create your character. Your goal is to get your Readiness Rating to a high enough percentage that you have an Effective Military Strength rating of over 4,000 before you begin the attack on Cerberus. This will get you the Master and Commander trophy. You will also need to get every section in the Theater of War map to 100% readiness. This will unlock the Defender trophy.
  • You will need to unlock all Kill trophies and all random trophies in this playthrough
  • Finish off the Almost There and Peak Condition trophy. If you don't get to level 60 by the end of your playthrough, you will most likely get to 20 online, so don't worry too much about it.
  • Complete the game. This will unlock you the Insanity trophy and the Long Service Medal.
  • Begin a second playthrough and Import a Mass Effect 3 Character. This will unlock the Battle Scarred Trophy.
  • As soon as you have enough money, hit the upgrade terminal in the Shuttle Bay in the Normandy to upgrade your favorite weapon to level 10 for the Gunsmith trophy.
  • Grind out the Veteran trophy. you will need to finish your grind online if you are trying to finish this in one playthrough.
  • Ding! N7 Elite

Lost and Found
Dispatch 10 probes to retrieve people or resources in Reaper territory.

If you are a veteran of Mass Effect, you will remember the irritating mining mini game they had put into Mass Effect 2 to acquire resources to upgrade your weapons and the Normandy. Mercifully they have removed that nuisance from this game and replaced it with a much more useful streamlined feature. Anytime you head into a Reaper controlled system, which is represented by a massive Reaper ship on top of your destination, you can search for resources. The Normandy is equipped with a scanner system that allows you to scan a small area surrounding the Normandy when you press the button in the flight screen. If there happens to be resources in the area that you are in, they will pop up as red circles on your flight map and EDi will exclaim "I found something".

For this trophy you will need to find something hidden on 10 planets. Once you find something on a planet, enter the planet's orbit. Now hold down the to start up the scanner on the planet which is represented by a bullseye. You will have a white line that will point you in the direction of the target inside the bullseye. Turn the planet while following the line to find the white dot, which is the target. Now press the to shoot out a probe to acquire the resource from the planet surface. You will never run out of probes so don't worry about having to buy new ones.

As soon as you recover 10 resources from the planets in Reaper controlled territories the trophy will unlock. For a complete listing of scannable planets for this trophy please see the Master and Commander trophy above.

[top]
Long Service Medal
Complete Mass Effect 3 twice, or once with a Mass Effect 2 import.

There are two ways to complete this trophy. The first way is to import your Mass Effect 2 game, in which case this trophy will unlock at the end of your first playthrough just before the credits. The second is if you are a new player. Complete the game once, then start a new game and import your ME3 character to play the NG+ mode. The trophy will then unlock at the end of your second playthrough just before the credits.

[top]
Insanity
Finish the game on Insanity without changing difficulty after leaving Earth

Complete the entire game on Insanity difficulty to earn this trophy. While you can skip side missions, it's best that you work towards the Unwavering trophy at the same time. See the Insanity Walkthrough section for details

[top]
A Personal Touch
Modify a weapon.

Every weapon in your arsenal can be modified with up to two attachments to improve the performance of the weapon. You can attach mods to a weapon before you begin every mission just after the Squad selection screen. Simply select the weapon you want and press the to go into the mod screen. Now select the mod you want and press the to attach it to the weapon. When you are in mission, you will only be able to add attachments at Weapon Workbenches located in some of the levels. Modifications can be either found in the levels, or purchased at the Citadel. The first Mods you will find are on the Mars level. Conveniently enough, you will also find a Weapon Workbench near one of the modifications you find so that you can knock out this trophy in your early playthrough. As soon as you add a weapon modification to any weapon the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Paramour
Establish or rekindle a romantic relationship.

There are several relationships that you can have in ME3, and unlike ME2 you aren't required to only have relationships with members of the opposite sex. For this trophy, you need to seduce the crew member of your choice with either your PimpShep or your HoeShep into your bed. That is what being a hero is all about right? Kicking ass, saving the galaxy and having sex Below we shall cover all the romantic possibilities for Commander Shepard only, and how to best score with them.

I have found that any of the carryover romances from ME2 that AREN"T a crew member aboard the Normandy are an extreme letdown, so if you are looking for a good sex scene for the time you have put into it, you will probably want to pick someone that is on the Normandy with you as they have better cutscenes. Very disappointing for the Miranda fans in particular, especially after the scene in ME2 >:F.

  • Romantic Interest: Ashley Williams
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Ashley is only interested in Male Shepards.
    • You can romance Ashley either from an old romance from an import, or as a new love interest if you have never romanced her before.
    • If you chose Ashley over Liara in ME1, then romanced someone new in ME2, you will have to make a choice and reassure her that you only want to be with her in ME3.
    • If you are using a ME2 import, Ashley will only be in the game if you chose to save her over Kaidan in ME1. If this is a new playthrough, you will have to choose one or the other.
    • Ashley can be difficult to romance after the events that took place in ME2. She begins the game with her guard up and very distrustful of you after the time you spent with Cerberus. Because of this, you must always remember when you have conversations with her alone to choose the obvious Paragon choices that allow her to rebuild her trust for you. After Ashley is injured, she will send you several messages while in the hospital to your email account inviting you to visit her. Each of these visits getting to know her will increase her trust of you and your intimacy level.
    • The first time you visit the Huerta Memorial Hospital when Ashley is injured, stop by the Sirta Supplies Kiosk in the Patient Lounge and purchase a copy of the Collected Alfred Tennyson. When you visit her on another visit later in the game, Shepard will give her this book and it will help with your intimacy levels.
    • If you plan on romancing Ashley, make sure you build up your trust levels with her, otherwise you will not have the needed Paragon choice in the confrontation during the Priority: The Citadel mission at the beginning of Act 2 to convince her to stand down and trust you.
    • After Ashley joins your crew, there is one final opportunity to win points with her. She will send you an email requesting your presence at the Refugee Camp before she talks to her sister. You have this opportunity to build up a few more points with her before the the final meeting.
    • The final meeting for her romance for this trophy will come when she invites you to meet her at the cafe in the Presidium Commons at the Citadel. If you have succeeded in romancing her, she will bring it up to you, or you can be forward and bring it up yourself leading to naughty time and the trophy

  • Romantic Interest: Miranda Lawson
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Miranda is only interested in Male Shepards.
    • Miranda is only available as a romance option if you imported a save file in which you had seduced her in ME2.
    • If you are using a ME2 import Miranda will only be in the game if she had survived the Suicide mission
    • If Miranda was your romantic interest in ME2, the first time you meet her on the Citadel she will ask if you are still interested in her, this is your chance to continue the relationship.
    • After that it is pretty smooth sailing as long as you help her and be supportive of her while she tries to find her sister. Miranda will send you emails to meet her at the Citadel to discuss the news she has found and ask for support when she needs it. Once at the Citadel, check in each area of the map to find her sneaky whereabouts.
    • Once you find her located in the apartments, you have found your chance to make your move. Once up there be supportive and warn her about Kai Leng. Failure to warn her about Kai Leng decreases her chances of survival later in the game. After that...sit back and watch Shep toss down his on her.

  • Romantic Interest: Jack
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Jack is only interested in Male Shepards.
    • Jack is only available as a romance option if you imported a save file in which you had seduced her in ME2.
    • If you are using a ME2 import Jack will only be in the game if she had survived the Suicide mission
    • If Jack survived the suicide mission, you will encounter her if you choose to do the Grissom Academy: Investigation side mission that Specialist Traynor tells you about.
    • Once you find the students, you will find Jack is their teacher and if you had a romance with her in ME2 this is where the romance will pick up. You will now have the option to tell her it's over, or continue the romance.
    • There will be several different occasions to work on this romance. Once when you first meet her, a Paragon action on board the escape shuttle at the end of the mission, and the culmination will happen when you find her on shore leave at the Club in the Citadel. At this point,l if you have played your cards right, you will take her up to the dance floor and throw out some funky moves and the trophy will unlock....no sex scene, but it gets the job done for the trophy....booooo
    • On a side note, even if you didn't romance her on ME2, you can still meet her at the Citadel and still take her up to the dance floor and throw down your moves, you just won't have the first two opportunities to toss down your game on her before this point and there will be no trophy for it.

  • Romantic Interest: Specialist Samantha Traynor
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Specialist Traynor is only interested in Female Shepards.
    • Specialist Traynor takes over for Kelly Chambers as the ships communications officer. She is always located next to the galaxy map and will provide details about the crew, new emails and even can give you certain missions.
    • Make sure you speak to Specialist Traynor on multiple occassions to gain intimacy points with her. Eventually you will have a conversation getting to know her and talking about board games. Make sure you respond that you enjoy a nice game of chess and later you will receive an email with her challenging you to a game night of chess. This option is available even if you are a male Shepard, so if it happens don't think you are going to score.
    • After receiving the email, you can invite Traynor up to your cabin by using the communicator near your personal computer. Once there, if you are a female Shep and you have spent enough time getting to know her, you will have the option to offer her a shower. If you are a male Shep, this option will never show up and you will enjoy an enchanting evening of blue balls and a sore ego from getting your ass kicked at chess.
    • Once you have her in the shower, you will have the opportunity to join her if your intimacy is high enough leading to a sexy lesbo sex scene
    • Make sure you invite Traynor for Game Night before the Final Mission, or will you lose the chance to continue your sexual dominance over the sexy communications officers they continue to give you.

  • Romantic Interest: Tali'Zorah vas Normandy
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Tali is only interested in Male Shepards.
    • Tali is only available as a romance option if you imported a save file in which you had seduced her in ME2.
    • If you are using a ME2 import Tali will only be in the game if she had survived the Suicide mission
    • When Tali first boards the Normandy, she will ask you to call her up to your cabin for a more personal conversation. At this point, if she was your romantic interest in ME2, she will ask you if you are still interested in continuing your relationship. You must do this BEFORE you go to Rannoch to destroy the Reaper Base. If you miss this opportunity or say no, you will miss your opportunity to continue your relationship with Tali.
    • After that, your relationship with Tali depends on your actions with her people and the Geth during their war. Unless you have a high enough Paragon rating to negotiate peace between the two factions when the time comes, you can only continue your relationship with Tali if you side with the Quarians. If you side with the Geth, there will be no way to continue your relationship with Tali.
    • If you do continue your relationship with Tali and have the opportunity, you will finally get to see what Tali looks like by the end of this game and it looks like to all those who hooked up with Tali despite not ever seeing her face will be pleasantly rewarded for not being shallow. If you don't have an import file from ME2 with a Tali romance, you can youtube the romance scene to see what you missed out on.

  • Romantic Interest: Liara T'Soni
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Liara swings both ways and is into Male and Female Shepards
    • Liara is available either to new players or if you have imported a ME2 save file.
    • If Liara was your romance option in ME1, she will ask you if you are still interested in one of the very first conversations that you have with her aboard the Normandy. If you had a romance with someone else during your ME2 playthrough, she will also bring this up at this time as well. If you are still undecided if you want to continue your relationship with her, you can choose at this time to continue the relationship as it doesn't commit you to her yet. If you have already made up your mind that you want to move on to a new hottie or continue your relationship established in ME2, let her down gently...Hell hath no fury like an Asari scorned.
    • If you choose to continue with Liara, you will have several opportunities to talk to her on the Citadel and get to know her more while raising your intimacy levels with her. If you get them high enough, she will come see Shepard in his cabin later in the game. This isn't the deciding point, but is a good opportunity to build more intimacy with her.
    • Once she finally sends you an email to see her at the Citadel, she will share some intimate thoughts and memories. Now is the time to choose to commit to her if this is the path you would like to take. From there it's nothing but hot sex with her sexy blue ass, did I mention she swings both ways? Might be an easy path down the road to a threesome

  • Romantic Interest: Garrus Vakarian
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Garrus is only interested in Female Shepards.
    • Garrus is only available as a romance option if you imported a save file in which you had seduced him in ME2.
    • If you are using a ME2 import Garrus will only be in the game if he had survived the Suicide mission
    • If Garrus was your romantic interest in ME2, after joining the Normandy, he will ask if you are still interested in him. If you are still undecided if you want to continue your relationship with him, you can choose at this time to continue the relationship as it doesn't commit you to him yet.
    • Once that is ironed out it's business as usual. Speak to him frequently and make the obvious choices.
    • Eventually you will receive an email to meet him at the Citadel for some fun. Once you arrive you can find him near the docks. Talk to him and you will be taken to the highest point of the Presidium and a scene will begin. You will also go to this place as a male Shepard as well, but don't be alarmed, Garrus isn't into Bush on Chulo man love. If you are a female Shep and have maintained your intimacy levels with him, this is where the love scene begins. *Ques 70's porn music*

  • Romantic Interest: Thane
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Thane is only interested in Female Shepards.
    • Thane is only available as a romance option if you imported a save file in which you had seduced him in ME2.
    • If you are using a ME2 import Thane will only be in the game if he had survived the Suicide mission
    • If Thane was your romantic interest in ME2, you can find him in the Hospital on the Citadel in the waiting area.
    • There is really nothing special or difficult about this romance. You will immediately get the option to let him know that you are still interested. If Kaiden is in your game, and you were intimate in the ME1 comic and are using a ME2 import, he will ask if there is still anything between you, this is your chance to continue the relationship if you are interested.
    • After that, you will receive the option to find someplace more intimate, and in the middle of his conversation the fun will begin. It isn't overly exciting, so you might want to pick someone else for the sexy time fun you can have, but it will get the job done for the trophy if that's what you are looking for.

  • Romantic Interest: Kaidan Alenko
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Kaidan is interested in either Female OR Male Shepards.
    • Update: It has since been brought to my attention by those obsessed with steamy Man on Man love that you can in fact have a romance with Kaiden as a Male Shepard. This brings the Man on Man love options to 2 for all those who would like to have a choice with whom they would like to play Tummy Sticks with
    • You can romance Kaidan either from an old romance from an import, or as a new love interest if you have never romanced him before.
    • If you romanced Kaidan in ME1, then romanced someone new in ME2, you will have to make a choice and reassure him that you only want to be with him in ME3.
    • If you are using a ME2 import, Kaidan will only be in the game if you chose to save him over Ashley in ME1. If this is a new playthrough, you will have to choose one or the other.
    • Kaidan can be difficult to romance after the events that took place in ME2. He begins the game with his guard up and very distrustful of you after the time you spent with Cerberus. Because of this, you must always remember when you have conversations with him alone to choose the obvious Paragon choices that allow him to rebuild his trust for you. After Kaidan is injured, he will send you several messages while in the hospital to your email account inviting you to visit him. Each of these visits getting to know him will increase his trust of you and your intimacy level.
    • The first time you visit the Huerta Memorial Hospital when Kaidan is injured, stop by the Sirta Supplies Kiosk in the Patient Lounge and purchase a copy of the TM-88 Peruvian Whiskey. When you visit him on another visit later in the game, Shepard will give him this book and it will help with your intimacy levels.
    • If you plan on romancing Kaidan, make sure you build up your trust levels with him, otherwise you will not have the needed Paragon choice in the confrontation during the Priority: The Citadel mission at the beginning of Act 2 to convince him to stand down and trust you.
    • The final meeting for the romance for this trophy will come when he invites you to meet him at the cafe in the Presidium Commons at the Citadel. If you have succeeded in romancing him, he will bring it up to you, or you can be forward and bring it up yourself leading to naughty time and the trophy

  • Romantic Interest: Lt. Cortez
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Cortez is only interested in Male Shepards. *waits for Bush to stop cheering*
    • Cortez is available to romance on either a new playthrough or an imported ME2 playthrough
    • Cortez is always located in the Shuttle Bay of the Normandy near the Armor selection terminal. Just follow the crying and you will find him
    • Cortez, just wants reassurance about himself as he is very vulnerable from past events that have happened and will openly confide in you if you choose to speak to him. After talking to him enough times, you can suggest that he take some time off and he heads to the Citadel.
    • Once he is as the Citadel, if you choose to continue this path, visit him in his various locations and have conversations with him. After a couple of these rendezvous, you will get an email from Cortez asking to meet you on the Citadel.
    • Meet Cortez at Purgatory and during the convo, you can profess your man love for him and join his team and unlock the trophy.

  • Romantic Interest: Diana Allers
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Diana is interested in either Male or Female Shepards
    • This optional romance can take place depending on your treatment of Diana in your interviews. This being said, This romance will not count towards the trophy! If someone gets the trophy from a romance with Diana let the Hoff know and I will update this.
    • Diana can be found on the Citadel after your trip to Mars. After you visit with either Ashley or Kaidan at the hospital, you can find her near the Docking Bay for the Normandy. She will tell you her plan and ask to join your crew. Not only will this give you some eye candy, but it will also give you a War Asset, so let her come aboard.
    • Occasionally, Diana will send you emails throughout the story asking you for an interview. When she does this, invite her up to your quarters and be very flirtatious.
    • Also check on her frequently in her quarters on the Engineering deck as she will occasionally be involved in debates with other crew members. This is a good chance to side with her and earn some intimacy points.
    • It will take several good interviews, but eventually you will get her out of that skin tight dress for a night of fun

  • Romantic Interest: Kelly Chambers
  • Tips and Strategy:
    • Kelly is interested in either Male or Female Shepards
    • This romance has a shitload of variables to have the option pop up, and to be honest, the romance scene is so blah it might not even be worth your time. In addition to that, for some lame ass reason they changed how Kelly looks for this game and for a team that knows how to make incredibly hot women, I'm really disappointed in their choice for Kelly. This being said, This romance will lost likely not count towards the trophy much like the Kelly romance in ME2! If someone gets the trophy from a romance with Kelly let the Hoff know and I will update this.
    • This romance is only available, if you succeeded in having the assumed romance with Kelly in your ME2 game. You must have had her up to your quarters for an evening of "assumed" fun.
    • In addition to that, you must have saved Kelly from the Collectors in the Suicide Mission by rescuing the Crew quickly without performing too many missions. You will know if you have saved Kelly or not because she will be back at her post on the Normandy after you complete the game in the free play.
    • If you have achieved both of these prerequisites, she will be in ME3 if you import the save file from ME2.
    • Now that you have done that, when you go to the Citadel, check your map and you will notice Kelly Chambers as an available person to talk to in the Refugee Camp, near the medical area. Go down and talk to her and make sure you are friendly and use the Paragon Action when it pops up to give her a hug.
    • Now for the most important part of this romance. Before Cerberus attacks the Citadel which happens after you finish the Priority: Tuchanka mission, you must have visited Kelly enough times in the Citadel to receive the conversation in which she talks about her identity. When this option appears, you MUST convince her to change her name. If you don't Kelly will die during the Cerberus attack.
    • If you have achieved this, Kelly will be alive down in the Medical Station of the Refugee Camp after the Cerberus attack. For this last part you can't already be committed to another hottie, so if you want to do this, do it before committing to any of the other ladies. Head down there and talk to her and tell her you are still interested in her and she will take you into her little shipping crate she lives in for some fun.

Combined Arms
Perform any combination of 50 biotic combos or tech bursts.

Combos happen in Mass Effect when you combo one of your powers off of another squadmates powers to cause a massive explosion. There are multiple combinations of combos you can perform with multiple damage powers that can effect all enemies in the area. For this trophy you must perform a total of 50 of these explosions to take place over all your playthroughs and with the online. In the single player mode, you can use one of your squadmates to setup the combo with the Primer power and then finish them off with the detonating power or vice versa. I'm not sure if you will receive credit if you combo both squadmates off of each other for explosion, I would assume that you have to be involved in the attack to get credit towards the trophy ,but if someone finds out otherwise let me myself or Maim know so we can update this. Playing MP, you will have to combo off of one of your teammates powers. A good way to do this is to play as an Engineer and power up your Overload. Stay with the group and use it as often as you can in hopes that someone else will randomly combo off your Overload for an Electrical Tech burst. This will happen more than you think it will if you stay with the team. Below we will list all the Primers to setup the explosions for you, and all the Detonators that will cause an explosion for the combo you want to perform. As soon as you get to 50 Combo attacks the trophy will unlock.

The kills for this trophy are cumulative from your offline and online play.

Biotic Combos
Biotic Combos occur when using a Biotic Power Primer and a Biotic Power Detonator. Unlike the Tech Bursts, the bio combos explosion has the effect of causing massive Biotic damage to all caught in the explosion and can even occur if the enemy is protected by shields or barriers.

Primers

Flame Tech Bursts
Flame Tech Bursts happen when you combine a Flame Based Tech attack with a Biotic or Explosive Detonator. The flame explosion will set all enemies in the explosion on fire which can cause them to panic. The Flame Tech burst is extremely effective against groups of armored enemies as it will either take out their armor in the explosion or cause massive damage to it.

Primers
  • Inferno Grenade
  • Incinerate
  • Sentry Turret Flamethrower
  • Incendiary Ammo
Detonators
  • Concussive Shot
  • Sticky Grenade

Electrical Tech Bursts
Electrical Tech Bursts happen when you combine an Electrical Based Tech attack with a Biotic or Explosive Detonator. The electrical explosion will electrocute all enemies in the explosion stunning them momentarily . The Electrical Tech Burst is extremely effective against groups of shielded enemies as it will either take out their shields in the explosion or cause massive damage to it.

Primers
  • Overload
  • Disruptor Ammo
Detonators

Primers
  • Cryo Blast

Evolve any of your powers to rank 6.

On the menu, select the Squad tab on the bottom of the radial menu. On this screen you can assign your ability points to any of Shepard's powers. You will need a total of 21 ability points to fully evolve a power to rank 6, less if you choose an ability that your character already has some ranks unlocked in, due to it being a starting power or inherited from an imported ME2 or ME3 saved game. Once you purchase your sixth rank in the power, the trophy will unlock.

Veteran
Kill 5,000 enemies

This trophy should come naturally over time as you progress through the Campaign and the Galaxy at War multiplayer. It will require multiple playthroughs if you intend to unlock it in single player, however you will get credit for all of your kills as opposed to multiplayer where you will have to contend with other people to score kills. In either event, it should require at least two playthroughs supplemented by whatever means you find necessary.

The kills for this trophy and the corresponding smaller kill trophies are cumulative from your offline and online play.

- It's by far the fastest way to grind for that trophy. I got my final 2500 kills in just over two hours.
- The weapon you have at that point is the M-3 Predator, and upgrades carry over, so you may want to max that gun out before the end of your previous playthrough if you're planning on doing this.
- You also carry over your powers, so things like incendiary ammo, concussive shot, etc will be very helpful in this section to make things go faster.
- You'll get to choose a bonus power if you import a character, so again, choose something that will help you kill these guys quickly (choosing another ammo type when you already have the one you're going to use is a waste).
- If you accidentally hit at any point to go into cover, the sequence will end after a few more kills, so make sure you hit start and reload the checkpoint before you get far enough that it autosaves over it.
- Since your kills are saved in your profile and not your save file, you can quit at any point and pick up where you left off, to avoid passing out from boredom.

The Cannibals spawn faster and you'll kill them as quickly as Carnage will recharge, often 2 or 3 at a time. There's no need for ammo, you're at no risk of damage if you angle it right, you don't need to move or aim and the homing Carnage projectiles mean faster kills & respawns, making the trophy much quicker to obtain.

This method is as fast as Wiimka's suggestion with 500+ deaths every 15 mins and all you need to do is mash every couple of seconds.

Bruiser
Kill 100 enemies with melee attacks.

Kill 100 different enemies with a melee attack (press ) or a heavy melee attack (hold ) to earn this trophy. You can still soften them up with gunfire if necessary, as long as the melee attack delivers the killing blow.

The kills for this trophy are cumulative from your offline and online play.

Untouchable
Escape a Reaper in the galaxy map.

Replacing the tedious mining system in Mass Effect 2, the new Search and Rescue minigame allows the Normandy to send sensor pulses while on a system map with the button, revealing any hidden War Assets, fuel, salvage or items that happen to be in the area. Each pulse of the sensors raises the Reaper Awareness meter on the lower left side of the screen. Once the Reaper Awareness reaches full, you'll hear the Reapers enter the system and they will begin to chase you. Simply exit the system by leaving the edge of the map, or using a Mass Relay and you will elude the Reapers and earn your trophy. If you're pulsing your sensors and no Reaper Awareness meter appears in the lower left, the system you are in is not threatened by the Reapers and you will have to move to another one to earn this trophy. As it is, you will likely earn this trophy through normal play.

Defender
Attain the highest level of readiness in each theater of war.

There are 5 theaters of war in the Galaxy at War mini game. The Galaxy at War is tied between the Single Payer story mode and the MP co-op mode for this game. In order to unlock this trophy you must obtain a 100% rating for all 5 Theaters of War at the same time. It sounds more daunting than it is, and really it only requires some time commitment to max this out. This is the only online only trophy for this game that can stand in your way of a shiny platinum if you rented the game instead of purchasing the game. The good news is that there are plenty of people playing online as the game is very popular so you will have no problems finding a game. Below are some tips to help you get this trophy.
  • There are 5 Theaters of War, which are displayed on the Main Menu for the game. This will also show your percentage in each area, and your overall Military Readiness Rating. The 5 Theaters are:
    • Terminus Systems
    • Attican Traverse
    • Earth Systems Space Alliance
    • Inner Council Space
    • Outer Council Space

  • 50% is the starting point and the lowest percentage you can hit.
  • You will gain a 5-6% increase for each area you play in per game that you finish and a 2-3% increase for the other 4 areas of the Theater per game, with an overall Readiness increase of about 4% per game.
  • Each game has 11 waves. You don't have to complete all 11 waves to get credit, but you will only gain the full percentage increases for completing the 11 rounds and extracting.
  • I recommend playing on bronze. Playing on Silver or Gold does NOT give you a better increase in Readiness Rating and is a pain in the ass.
  • Always be sure to spend your credits earned on equipment packs to unlock better weapons and gain equipment. This will increase your chances of making it all 11 rounds.
  • Your readiness rating will drop 1% every day in every Theater and 1% overall. Make sure you play 2-3 maps every day during your story run and you won't have to grind at the end for platinum.
  • Make sure you spend your upgrade points to upgrade your character. This will help you greatly against the stronger enemies.
  • Level 20 is the online level max. Once your player hits level 20, you can promote them to the ME3 game as a War Asset, but you will have to start over from level 1 with a new character. The good news is that you will retain all the weapons and equipment you've unlocked.
  • STAY IN THE EXTRACTION ZONE!!!! Don't be that jackass that roams off to try and showboat a few extra kills as time expires that costs the rest of your team the Full Extraction Bonus >:F!

Overload Specialist
Overload the shields of 100 enemies.

This is the biggest pain of the three specialty kill trophies for the game. For this trophy you must overload 100 enemy shields. From my experimentation, the only power I found that works for this trophy is Overload. Nothing else I tried increased the tally count, even if it disabled the shields such as Energy Drain. The only builds that have Overload are the Engineer and the Sentinel. In addition to that I never received Overload as a bonus power. If you aren't using one of these characters, you can take care of this in the online mode by creating one of them and focusing your upgrades on Overload. You will not receive any credit from attacks made by squadmates, even if you direct them to use the attack.

The kills for this trophy are cumulative from your offline and online play.

Sky High
Lift 100 enemies off the ground with powers

For this trophy you must launch 100 enemies into the air from attacks. This trophy is kind of a pain because the game seems to be somewhat picky about what it counts towards this trophy. Try different combos of powers to try and get the trophy tally to increase with no luck. I will list the powersthat I know work, but that doesn't mean there aren't more than my list. You will also unlock Bonus Powers as you progress through the game that you may be able to use for this trophy if you happen to be using a character class that doesn't have a necessary power. You will not receive any credit from attacks made by squadmates, even if you direct them to use the attack.

If you find a power that works that I haven't listed let me know and I will add it to the list.

The kills for this trophy are cumulative from your offline and online play.
  • Soldier: Concussive Shot
  • Adept: Singularity, Pull, Throw
  • Sentinel: Throw, Lift Grenade
  • Vanguard: Pull

Pyromaniac
Set 100 enemies on fire with powers.

For this trophy you must set 100 enemies on fire. This is probably the easiest of the 3 specialty kill trophies as you will most likely have access to the necessary powers to complete this very early in the game. For this you will need to use Incinerate, Incendiary Ammo or Incendiary Grenades to light the enemies you battle on fire. The fastest way to get this is the Incendiary Ammo which is one of the default skills of the Soldier build. The following will show you the best classes and powers to use for this trophy. That being said, as the game progresses, you will also unlock Bonus Powers that you may be able to use for this trophy if you happen to be using a character class that doesn't have a necessary power. You will not receive any credit from attacks made by squadmates, even if you direct them to use the attack.

If you find a power that works that I haven't listed let me know and I will add it to the list.

  • Soldier: Incendiary Ammo
  • Engineer: Incinerate
  • Infiltrator: Incinerate
  • Vanguard: Incendiary Ammo

Eye of the Hurricane
Kill a brute while it's charging you.

This is a brute. Don't be fooled by his looks though, for as menacing as he looks, he is about as tough as a schoolgirl. If you have played Dead Space or Dead Space 2, you will get past these brutes with no problems, even on Insanity. The first Brute you encounter will be during the Priority: Palaven mission. The best way to handle a Brute, is to just keep your distance. They are very slow and only pose a threat if they are close enough to attack you. In addition to that they can only melee attack you so if you are far enough away, they most likely won't even hit you. If they happen to hit you, you will go into the red but you won't die, even on Insanity which will give you enough time to move out of the way.

For this trophy you must kill the Brute when it is performing it's special charge attack. The best way to handle this is to get them down to about 1/2 to 1/4 health then get far away from them so they will charge you. The Brute will squat down just before he charges you which is your sign to open fire. If you kill the Brute during this charge, the trophy will unlock. If you are having trouble with this, try using the Adrenaline Rush Power to slow down time to make it easier. Make sure you move out of the path of the charge while you are firing so you don't get knocked down as that will interrupt your attack.

Mail Slot
Kill 10 guardians with headshots from the front while their shields are raised.

This is a Guardian. These jackasses like to attack with Engineers and Regular Cerberus Assault Troops. Their main goal is to get in close to you while you try to hide in cover to avoid all the gunfire, so they can either blast you with their shield, or shoot you. That being said, they aren't all that difficult to kill especially with a good shotgun. For this trophy, you need to perform the kill shot on 10 of them, that hits them in the head through the tiny slot in the shield. While you can use any weapon you want for this, the best weapon for this is the Sniper Rifle from long distance. If you are still having trouble, try having Liara hit them with a Stasis to freeze them, then take your shot, or cast it yourself if you have the right character build for it. As soon as you get to 10 the trophy will unlock.

The kills for this trophy are cumulative from your offline and online play.

Hijacker
Hijack an Atlas mech.

This is an Atlas Mech. These assholes will occasionally show up during your Cerberus battles to piss you off, especially when you are playing on Insanity.Just in case the Turrets the Engineers drop coupled with the precision Grenade tosses that force you out of cover into the Turrets line of fire was too easy for you, Cerberus likes to toss a well armored walking mech in there that shoots rockets at you at the same time just for fun. For this trophy you will need to Mechjack an Atlas from a Cerberus soldier. Now let's be clear on this, it is much easier said than done, you can't just run up on him and press the like its GTA and throw him out of it. You must shoot out the window of the mech first. Now you can use conventional weapons for this, but I recommend a good sniper rifle to target the glass from a distance. I have also found that this was much easier on Normal than it was on Insanity. On Insanity you have a very small window of opportunity to break out the glass before the Atlas blows up. Once you have shot out the window, you must then shoot the driver, aim carefully as you don't want to blow up the Atlas. Once he is dead you can run over to the mech and look up at the cockpit and you will get a prompt to use the Atlas. Climb inside and lay down the law on the remaining Cerberus soldiers in the battle you are in and receive an easy trophy.

There are several missions that you will battle an Atlas, but I found that the battle on Eden Prime is probably the easiest. Stay in the building opposite the Prothean Pod and you will have plenty of cover and can peek out from behind the wall and take sniper shots at the Mech who is a good distance away from you.

Giant Killer
Defeat a harvester.

Story related trophy. This cannot be missed.

The first Harvester you will encounter will be in the Tuchanka: Turian Platoon side mission. You can't miss the Harvester, it is the only flying creature that the Reapers have. I think it looks like a giant flying horse. Now despite its huge size, the Harvester is a huge pansy. Just avoid its fire by staying in cover and continue shooting to take it down. They are protected by armor, so if you have flame based weapons, it will go even faster.

If you happen to miss that mission, there will be several Harvesters along the way that you will have to battle during the main story missions of the game, there are a couple optional ones in Priority: Thessia, that you can miss, as well as one final Harvester in the Priority: Earth mission that you have to destroy to continue to the end of the game, so there is no way to miss this trophy.

Start a character in multiplayer or customize a character in single-player.

You can unlock this trophy in one of two ways. There isn't a benefit to unlocking this in the MP or the SP, it just depends on your preference for the game.
  1. When you first start up your game, even if it is a ME2 import, you will have the chance you use the Default Character, or Customize your character. Select the Character Customization and as long as you don't use the default face for Commander Shepard, once the story begins, this trophy will unlock.
  2. If you prefer the default Shep and FemShep, head into the MP menu from the main menu. Now create your online character and the trophy will unlock.

Tour of Duty
Finish all multiplayer maps or all N7 missions in single-player.

There are a total of 6 N7 Missions located during the Single Player Campaign just waiting to be completed. You must complete all 6 of these missions on Insanity for the Unwavering trophy on your Platinum run anyway, so I suggest not worrying about these on the MP and just concentrate on finishing these on the Story Mode. The 6 missions are also the same maps that the MP maps are based upon. These missions are all completely optional and thus can be missed if you don't take the time to locate them and complete them. While there is no penalty for completing the game, if you miss these missions you can miss out on several mission completion items for the Citadel missions and you will also miss out on several War Asset Completion bonuses. I will also list the corresponding MP map for each of these missions. To get credit for this trophy on MP, you must complete all 11 rounds on each map on any difficulty.
  • Mission Name: N7: Cerberus Lab
  • Availability: This becomes available after your first trip to the Citadel. After speaking to the Council and receiving the Priority: Palaven mission, board the Normandy and Specialist Traynor will inform you of the email to give you this mission.
  • Location: Sigurd's Cradle: Sanctum
  • Multiplayer Map: Glacier
  • Specialty Items Found:
    • Failed Medi-Gel Experiment This is needed to complete the HUB Mission, Citadel: Alien Medi-Gel Formula
    • Sniper Rifle Enhanced Scope

  • Strategy:
This missions is one of the easier N7 missions. From the start take out the couple of Cerberus troops that have been left to guard the area, then proceed to the control panel marked as your target when you click the to find the first Artifact. As soon as you grab it you will get a small wave of attackers. Now head to the second panel and grab the second artifact. After doing this you will have a fairly good fight on your hands. I recommend staying int he hallway you are in, and posting each of your crew members at the two control panels on each side of the hallway. now most of the enemies will come down the ramp closer to the panel where you found the artifact so this will be your focus point, but there is a chance of some stragglers down the ramp behind you, but nothing your backup squadmate can't handle.

Eventually Cortez will tell you to get to the landing pad for extraction. At this point, I recommend pressing the to regroup your team, and move to the extraction room as fast as you can and take up cover behind the boxes on the side of the room opposite the extraction point. There will be Combat Engineers in this room that will set up turrets and the longer you take to get into the room, the more chance there will be that they will have turrets facing into the entrances. If you are quick enough you can surprise them before they place turrets. Once the landing pad is secure, Cortez will pick you up and the mission ends.

  • Strategy:
This N7 mission is just as easy as the first because of the convenient corridors on the map that allow easy flanking opportunities on unaware enemies. Push through the enemies to the control room and attempt to take control of the Cannon. Once you find out you have to restore power, before heading out, look on top of the pipe that sits high in the air outside the control room and either take out the Nemesis snipers, or knock them down to the ground. They can cause massive damage with a single sniper shot so be prepared. After they are down, I recommend directing your squad out the front door to take up positions in front of the enemy. While they are doing this, head out the backway and use the ladder to flank the enemy positions and work your way back to your squad. Once the enemies are finished, restore power.

Now have your team follow you down the ladder and back through the back door to the control room, taking out the opposition along the way to resecure the room. When you have finished use the control panel to fire the canon at Cerberus to complete the mission.

This mission starts out relatively easy. Head to the right and take out the Cerberus team attacking the civilians in the first area. Now head to the back left corner to find a couple civilians about to be taken by Cerberus troops. Take them out then prepare for battle. Post one of your squadmates near the half wall that overlooks the open area near where the civilians where located. Now head into the house to the left of this wall and place your second squadmate near the door on the opposite side of the house to prevent anyone from sneaking up on you. Now take up position by the doorway that overlooks the open area and keep this area secure. You have one goal, continue taking out Cerberus troops until the civilians you just saved work their way through this open area and up the ramp on the other side to make it to the landing zone. Once they do that and are clear, you will get a message to head to extraction to end the mission.

    • Heating Unit Schematics This is needed to complete the HUB Mission, Citadel: heating Unit Stabilizers

  • Strategy:
This N7 mission is almost as easy as the first mission. There are a lot of enemies here, but you start with good cover and can flank them on the walkways and corridors. Take out the first set of enemies, then head to the target point to begin the disabling of the defenses. Pcik your less valuable teammate to work on hacking the system and have your other squadmate take up position behind the control panel near the control panel your other teammate is working on. Take up position in the cover in the area, and defend your teammate from the incoming attack.

Once it has ended, head back to the extraction point. I recommend using the corridors to get there as they provide excellent cover and make it impossible to be flanked. When you get to the upper area, you will see an Atlas near the extraction point. In this wide open area, this is a very good place to try to achieve the Hijacker trophy if you haven't unlocked it yet. Once the Atlas is down, head to the extraction point to end the mission.

  • Strategy:
This mission can be somewhat difficult, unless you use your head. Head into the main room and talk to Captain Riley, then proceed through the door way behind her. Once you are through this door, head to the right to the control panel. You will need to use the crane to pick up the two crates on the left side of the screen and move them to the right side. Once you have finished this, your path will be unblocked to the next area. Head into this area, and hug the wall on the right side to find the control panel to vent the radiation in the area. Once you have done this, head to the Fuel Rod Controls and after using them, Reapers will attack. Now when the battle starts, look for the Barrier Generator near where they are coming from and take it out. This will make your battle much easier. Once the ambush has been dealt with, head to the second controls.

Have your squadmates take up positions in the small area behind the controls, then activate them and another ambush begins. Head into the area with your team, and look back towards the ramp you used to get to this point. There will be two barrier generators on each side of the ramp. Take them both out to make this part relatively easy. The only difficult part of this battle is the amount of Marauders that attack. If you have EDi with you, or if you are an Engineer, a quick Overload can drop their shields making them very easy to destroy.

Once this wave is complete, choose a squadmate to head back to help Riley, then open the doors to the reactor. When you open them you will get attacked by a Brute and a Marauder. Take them both out and then head back to the beginning to end the mission.

For being the final N7 Mission that you unlock for the game, you will be happy to know that it is one of the easiest. The good Dr. will update Nav Points to to terminals for you. Once she does this, head to the Nav Points and interact with them to disable the Cerberus Hacking attempts. This will happen three times before your shuttle finally rescues her and the mission ends. As far as battle, the level is very wide open and you should really need to camp it out, simply find a nice piece of cover and take out the enemies. If you are running and gunning, be mindful of the turrets the Combat Engineers place as they can take you out very fast, especially on Insanity.

Always Prepared
Obtain two non-customizable suits of armor.

There are 6 non-customizable full body Armor sets you can obtain in this game. Unlike the customizable pieces of armor, you cannot mix and match with these and are given a preset amount of stat enhancements. For this trophy you simply need to acquire two of these which are all available for purchase in the various stores around the Citadel. If you have played the Kingdoms of Amalur Demo and have the Reckoning Armor, which looks badass IMO even if it doesn't have the most attractive stat enhancements, you get one for free and will only need to spend your money on 1 more armor set for this trophy.

On a side note, some people have reported getting this trophy from having the Reckoning Armor and the N7 preorder bonus Armor. Neither myself or Lord Maim received the trophy until after we had purchased one Armor Set at the Citadel despite having both of these Armor pieces, so there may be a glitch in the trophy when it comes to recognizing both of the DLC Armors to unlock the trophy. If you have both of these and it doesn't unlock, simply go purchase a Armor Set and it should pop for you.

Armor Name Location Base Price Stat Enhancements
Reckoning Armor Begin Kingdoms of Amalur Demo 0
Terminus Armor Batarian Store 50,000 Shield Boost +30%, Ammo Capacity +15%, Melee Damage +15%
Blood Dragon Armor Hanar Store 50,000 Shield Boost +20%, Power Damage +30%, Recharge Speed +10%
Collector Armor Asari Store 50,000 Health Boost +20%, Shield Boost +20%, Shield Regen Time +20%
Cerberus Armor Volus Store 50,000 Health Boost +20%, Shield Boost +10%, Weapon Damage +20%, Ammo Capacity +10%
Inferno Armor Human Store 50,000 Power Damage +30%, Recharge Speed +30%

Gunsmith
Upgrade any weapon to level 10.

Weapon upgrades can be purchased in the Shuttle Bay of the Normandy at the CPU terminal next to the Weapon Modification bench. Every weapon you have in the game can be upgraded including the extra weapons that you receive from DLC. Every time you upgrade a weapon you will get a small increase to the weapons Damage and Ammo Capacities and the price for the next upgrade will increase.

For this trophy you must upgrade any weapon in your arsenal to level 10. You can only accomplish this task on a SECOND playthrough!. All weapons have a max upgrade of 5 levels on your first playthrough even if you are using a ME2 Import file. Once you have upgraded one of the weapons to level 10, the trophy will unlock.

Peak Condition
Reach level 20 in multiplayer or level 60 in single-player.

You should be able to reach level 60 in two complete playthroughs using the NG+ (Mass Effect 3 Import) feature after you have finished the main story. If you have imported a ME2 save file, you will most likely hit this by the end of your first playthrough as you will import your character at your ending level for ME2 which should be at level 30. If for some reason you don't you can simply begin a third playthrough using the NG+ feature again and finish off the couple levels you need to hit level 60.

Before you start your third playthrough however, finish off your MP trophies as you should have no problem hitting level 20 online as you try for the Defender trophy as long as you stay with the same character until you hit the level max.

Once you hit level 20 online or level 60 in the SP mode, the trophy will unlock.

Battle Scarred
Promote a multiplayer character to the Galaxy at War or import an ME3 character.

Once you reach level 20 with one character in multiplayer, you can promote him to be a War Asset in the single player game. Alternately, if you're not willing to part with your high level multiplayer character, you can import a Mass Effect 3 character from any completed single player campaign. If you choose this route instead, you will earn the trophy after the opening cinematic once you take control of Shepard.

Unwavering
Finish all multiplayer maps on Gold or all single-player missions on Insanity.

There are a total of 27 missions that you must complete on Insanity difficulty during the single player campaign of this game for this trophy.About half of these missions are story missions and can't be missed, however, there is a large pile of missions that can be missed if you don't take the time to complete them. Its always good to try and keep a backup save as some the side missions will go away if you move too far in the game leaving no way to complete them on the playthrough you are currently playing. Remember once you select the mission, the game autosaves just before the character select screen, so if you go too far, you won't be able to back out and go to a different mission. Below are the 27 missions you need to complete for this trophy, in the order you should complete them in to prevent missing a mission.

You can also unlock this trophy by finishing all 11 waves of all 6 MP maps at the gold difficulty setting. Now let me tell you, this is a huge pain in the ass, especially if you get into a room with a bunch of n00bs that don't know what they are doing. You have to finish the game start to finish on Insanity anyway, so I suggest just unlocking this trophy in the SP portion of the game.

IF YOU HAPPEN TO MISS A MISSION!!! After you finish cussing out the game, you will be happy to know you don't have to replay the entire game on Insanity to get this trophy. As long as you know which mission you missed, you can simply replay the game on Easy. Before you start the mission you need, press the button and head to the Options menu. Now change the difficulty to Insanity and then launch the mission. Once you complete the mission you missed the trophy will unlock and you can change the difficulty back to Easy.

[top]Insanity Walkthrough

[top]General Tips

  • Complete a playthrough on another difficulty before attempting Insanity. Earn all of the bonus powers, weapons, mods, and levels that you can on Normal or Casual, and enjoy the game. Learn the layout of the missions, and what to expect from each enemy. Jumping in on Insanity will only frustrate a new player, unnecessarily hamstringing them right out of the gate with inferior weapons, abilities and intel. Since you have to earn 5000 kills anyhow for the Veteran trophy, might as well make them count.
  • Choose a compatible class to your playstyle. Every class has its advantages in Mass Effect 3. Personally I recommend the Soldier class as it is a straightforward, durable class with a lot of damage output, but experiment with the other classes if you prefer. Every class has it's advantages and disadvantages (the Vanguard's biotic charge is insane.) Whichever class you choose will inform your squad choices. Squad members die very easily on Insanity difficulty however, so choosing a combat capable class that can survive without support is important.
  • Choose Squad members to compliment your class. Obviously certain combinations will be more detrimental than others, but don't overload your Squad with one type of character or another. You should always have a good balance of classes.
  • Don't go into any mission unprepared to deal with Armor, Shields or Barriers. The further you go in the game, the more often elite enemies will appear with specialized defenses that are resistant to most forms of damage. In addition to making these dangerous units more resistant to damage, these specialized defenses also prevent certain tech powers and biotics from affecting them. You have to be ready with the abilities or weapons to deal with each one or situations will get messy incredibly quickly. Especially in cases of enemies that have two specialized defenses, such as the Banshee that has a Barrier over Armor, being unprepared will result in a game over screen very quickly.
  • Cheat the corners! A tried and true strategy from the Mass Effect 2 Insanity Walkthrough returns for Mass Effect 3. Standing behind an object as tall as Shepard, you can shoot enemies to your right in complete safety due to the impossible mechanics of the third person camera. See the video below for a better explanation.
  • If you can't Cheat the Corners, get to cover!
