Max Payne 3 is a third-person shooter in which the player assumes the role of its titular character, Max Payne. The game features the over-the-shoulder zoom aiming and cover mechanics. However, these will just serve as garnish to the game's classic run-and-gun shooting. Max Payne 3 will also make return of bullet-time in action sequences, which the franchise is notable for. In bullet time it will be possible to see every bullet make a hole in your foes. A "Last Man Standing" mechanic, which gives Max a reprieve from death for a small period if he has one painkiller on him. If the player is able to kill the enemy that delivered the wounding shot with bullets he'll recover enough energy to soldier on.

[top]Tips & Strategies

Story
  • Try and get as many headshots as possible otherwise it takes alot more bullets to kill the enemy.
  • Use as much cover as possible behind solid objects and use your gun to aim around the corner.
  • Take your time and don't rush it otherwise you will keep getting killed. It doesn't take alot to kill Max on the harder levels so you need to be patience.
  • When you die a few times, you will be given a painkiller automatically.
  • It is very important to know that if you are in the middle of one of these difficulties (Medium, hard, hardcore, old school) that you don't change the type of aim because as soon as you change it to another type of aim other than free aim for an achievement on a certain chapter then all your playthrough will be useless because it will disable the difficulty achievement.

Multiplayer
  • Standard Playlists Unlock - 50 enemy kills.
  • Advanced Playlists Unlock - 500 enemy kills.
  • Hardcore Playlists Unlock - 1000 enemy kills.
  • Shoot-Dodge - This is the core gameplay element of Max Payne series. Once you have the certain amount of Adrenaline (there is an adrenaline meter), you can shoot as well as dodge the bullets with increased reflexes.
  • Loadouts - Each player can choose a specific loadout before entering the multiplayer maps. Like the classes in most games, these load outs will let players to choose the setup they want to use before spawn such as appearance, weapons, armor etc. The selection will affect the player's attributes like speed, health regeneration.
  • Loot the Bodies - After you have killed an enemy, you can try to loot it for items like extra ammo, Adrenaline, cash, or painkillers, etc.
  • Bursts - Bursts are the special abilities that consume the adrenaline meter. There is a wide range of these abilities which can also be upgraded for more over the course of time.

  • Glitch - You Play, You Pay, You Bastard - This trophy didn't unlock for me at 100 melee kills but did when I got about 115 melee kills so just keep going if it doesnt unlock at 100.
  • Glitch - Grave Robber - Several reports that this trophy is glitched and you may have to keep looting bodies until it unlocks eventually.


[top]Roadmap

Step 1 - Hard Story Mode
You can only pick easy, medium and hard when you first start up the game. You should start playing the game on hard difficultly on the single player story mode. Completing this will unlock old school and hardcore mode as easy and medium mode will not unlock it. Try and collect as many collectables on this playthrough but it doesn't matter too much if you miss any as you will have a chance to revisit any chapter.

Step 2 - Old School Story Mode
Complete Old School mode, which is the same as hard but the last chance option will not be available so use your painkillers wisely.

Step 3 - Hardcore Story Mode
This is slightly harder than the previous story mode as it takes less bullets to kill you. Try and kill enemies using headshots, collect as many painkillers as possible and use lots of cover.

Step 4 - Collectables/Grinds
There are loads of collectable items in the game. Revisited any chapter where you have missed any collectables and use the guide to find the exact location to find them all. Whilst finding the collectables finish off any grinds you may have left and changed the difficulty to easy if your finding it too hard.

Step 5 - A New York Minute
This mode will unlock once you have completed the game in any difficulty. Completing the New York minute will unlock the hardcore version which you will also need to complete.

Step 6 - Multiplayer
Last but not least the multiplayer mode. You will need around 30-35 hours to complete this section depending on your skill.

A New York Minute
Finish In A New York Minute

You have to play through each chapter without dying, on time. Use some of the tips that are listed under Payne In The Ass trophy. Use your pistol, bullet time when you can, easiest getting headshots with free aim, and picking up all painkillers.

Kills are worth 5 seconds, explosion kills give you 10 seconds and headshots are worth 6 seconds. Bullet Time reduces the timer's progression to correspond to the slowdown. If you choose to restart you will continue from the last reached checkpoint with a clock timer of 1:00:00. The timer is paused during bullet cams and blendouts. It is paused but not displayed during cutscenes.

Note: Unlocked after beating the game on any difficulty and you can earn XP which adds to your multiplayer score. Also you can still earn the trophy using soft lock if you wish.

The Shadows Rushed Me
Unlock And Complete New York Minute Hardcore

To obtain this trophy you must first unlock and complete the New York Minute Mode. This time the difficulty is raised, and it’s the WHOLE game without dying. After the first chapters you’ll find yourself with some spare time, like 10-15 minutes. There will be some difficult sections later in the story but if you die, you will have to restart it all over again.

Out The Window
Get 6 Kills While Diving Through The VIP Window [FREE AIM]

Location: Chapter 2 - Checkpoint 2

Once you gain control of Max for the first time in chapter 2, you will automatically jump through a window and have to kill all of the enemies while in the air (there are a total of 6 enemies). You need to have free aim enabled! Once you completed a chapter you can replay every checkpoint by going to chapter select in the main menu. There you can also switch your settings to free aim. If you have trouble you might want to increase your aiming speed and aiming acceleration (pause menu - settings - controls). Restart the last checkpoint if you fail.

The One Eyed Man Is King
Cover Passos With Perfect Aim

Location: Chapter 3 - Checkpoint 12

Towards the end of the third chapter you will have to cover your teammate Passos with a sniper rifle. To get the trophy / achievement you must make every bullet count. You may not miss a single shot - every bullet has to kill an enemy! Always activate your bullet time when aiming. It slows down time and makes it easier to hit the target. If you miss a shot then pause the game and click "Exit". Restart the checkpoint in the chapter select menu (only available if you completed the chapter before).

Something Wicked This Way Comes
Get 7 Kills While Jumping From The Rickety Boat [FREE AIM]

Location: Chapter 5 - Checkpoint 6

During chapter 5 you will have to jump down a rusty old boat. Watch out for an explosive, brown colored barrel on some set of stairs at the back of the room. Once you have found the barrel aim close to it, but miss a shot to alert the enemies. Wait a second until you hear a sound that indicates you have been spotted and shoot the barrel before the jump sequence begins. If you shoot the barrel too early it will explode before you are in the air (which wouldn't count towards the trophy / achievement). This requires some good timing and might take a couple of tries. 3 enemies will get killed by the explosion. The remaining 4 need to be taken out with gunfire. Equip the Micro 9mm before you enter the garage with the boat. That should make it a little easier to kill the enemies quickly. You need to have free aim enabled! Once you completed a chapter you can replay every checkpoint by going to chapter select in the main menu. There you can also switch your settings to free aim. If you have trouble you might want to increase your aiming speed and aiming acceleration (pause menu - settings - controls). Restart the last checkpoint if you fail.

That Old Familiar Feeling
Clear The Hallway Of Lasers

Location: Chapter 4 - Checkpoint 8

During Chapter 4 you will have to make your way through a hallway where lots of enemies with green laser sights are aiming at you. You need to take all those enemies out in order to unlock the trophy / achievement. Try to stay in cover, activate bullet time and kill the enemies with headshots. After completing this chapter for the first time you can replay it in the chapter select menu, which is found in the main menu.

Amidst The Wreckage
Destroy All The Models In The Boardroom

Location: Chapter 6 - Checkpoint 3

After fighting your first group of enemies in chapter 6 you will come to a room with architectural models. There are a total of 5 in this room. First of all, kill the group of enemies that rushes into the room and watch the short cutscene with the IT guy. Once all enemies are dead you shoot the models until the trophy / achievement pops.

Get 9 Kills While Being Pulled By A Chain [FREE AIM]

Location: Chapter 7 - Checkpoint 9

In chapter 7 you will get pulled up by a metal chain (a forced event, you cannot miss it). Once the slow motion sequence starts you need to take out all of the enemies on your way up. There are a total of 9 enemies and each single one has to be killed - 4 on the ground level, 2 on the second level and 3 on the upper level. You need to have free aim enabled! Once you completed a chapter you can replay every checkpoint by going to chapter select in the main menu. There you can also switch your settings to free aim. If you have trouble you might want to increase your aiming speed and aiming acceleration (pause menu - settings - controls). Restart the last checkpoint if you fail.

The Only Choice Given
Get 8 Kills While Dangling From A Chain [FREE AIM]

Location: Chapter 10 - Checkpoint 5

In chapter 10 you will dangle from a chain during a slow motion sequence (a forced event, cannot be missed). There are a total of 8 enemies infront of you and all of them need to be killed. You have infinite ammo during this short slow motion sequence. You need to have free aim enabled! Once you completed a chapter you can replay every checkpoint by going to chapter select in the main menu. There you can also switch your settings to free aim. If you have trouble you might want to increase your aiming speed and aiming acceleration (pause menu - settings - controls). Restart the last checkpoint if you fail.

Trouble Had Come To Me
Clear Everyone On The Bus Ride

Location: Chapter 10 - Checkpoint 11

During the bus ride you will have to kill every single enemy. You should do this on the easiest difficulty because your bullet time lasts longer there. Simply shoot everything that moves. Just watch out for the the rocket launcher guy at the end of the tunnel. After he is dead, a rocket should explode and kill most (or in the best case all) of the enemies around him. If any enemies survive the explosion then turn on your bullet time and take them out quickly. You can also switch from free aim to hard lock in the chapter select menu. If you have trouble then try this option. Increasing the aiming speed and aiming acceleration also helps a lot (pause menu - settings - controls). Restart the last checkpoint if you miss a target.

Along For The Ride
Trigger A Bullet Cam On The Zipline [FREE AIM]

Location: Chapter 11 - Checkpoint 11

In chapter 11 you will slide down a zipline (a forced event, cannot be missed). Simply kill all of the enemies during the slow motion sequence. Once you shoot the last one it will automatically trigger a bullet cam. There are a total of 5 enemies and you have unlimited ammo. You need to have free aim enabled! Once you completed a chapter you can replay every checkpoint by going to chapter select in the main menu. There you can also switch your settings to free aim. If you have trouble you might want to increase your aiming speed and aiming acceleration (pause menu - settings - controls). Restart the last checkpoint if you fail.

Sometimes You Get Lucky
Get A Headshot During The Rooftop Tremors

Location: Chapter 12 - Checkpoint 11

At the very end of chapter 12 you will be on a rooftop. Every couple seconds the screen gets shaky which makes it a lot harder to aim on enemies. Take out the first group of enemies and pick up one of their shotguns. Shotguns make it a lot easier to hit a nearby enemy in the head! Once a tremor starts (when everything begins to shake) the enemies will fall to the ground. Activate bullet time and aim for the head. The closer you are to the enemy, the easier it gets. It's highly recommended to do this on easy difficulty. You will receive less damage and your bullet time lasts longer. Reload the last checkpoint if you didn't get a headshot.

It Was Chaos And Luck
Get 6 Kills While Riding The Push Cart [FREE AIM]

Location: Chapter 13 - Checkpoint 14

During chapter 13 you will slide down a hallway on a push cart (cannot be missed). Once on the push cart, you are in bullet time mode and have infinite ammo. Just keep shooting with your automatic 9mm and kill all 6 enemies. You need to have free aim enabled! Once you completed a chapter you can replay every checkpoint by going to chapter select in the main menu. There you can also switch your settings to free aim. If you have trouble you might want to increase your aiming speed and aiming acceleration (pause menu - settings - controls). Restart the last checkpoint if you fail.

The Road-Kill Behind Me
Total Everything On The Runway

Location: Chapter 14 - Checkpoint 12

At the end of chapter 14 you will have to chase and destroy some enemy vehicles on the runway of the airport. For the trophy / achievement all of the vehicles need to be destroyed. This includes the driving humvees, the parked police cars and the flying helicopter. All of the foot soldiers can be ignored.
Restart the last checkpoint if you fail.

You Push A Man Too Far
Don't Shoot The Dis-Armed Man

Location: Chapter 14 - Checkpoint 12

This is one out of the two secret trophies in the game. Towards the end of chapter 14 you will be given the chance to execute a wounded enemy during a cutscene. Do not press any buttons and wait until the cutscene continues. Don't worry if you shot this guy, you can still come back later by replaying the checkpoint in chapter select.

The Fear Of Losing It
Survive A Level Without Painkillers

To unlock this trophy I suggest playing on the first chapter on the easiest difficulty and using one of the aim assists although I would still suggest being cautious making sure you don't get hurt too much.

It's Fear That Gives Men Wings
10 Bullet Time® Kills In A Row

Location: Chapter 5 - Checkpoint 14

The best place to get this trophy is during the boat ride at the end of chapter 5. Shortly after shooting a grenade during a slow motion sequence (cannot be missed), you will come to a platform where lots of enemies are attacking you. Leave some enemies alive before you reach this point. Otherwise you won't have 10 targets to kill. Activate bullet time as soon as the enemies get on the platform. You have to shoot 10 enemies during one single bullet time! You might want to set the difficulty down to easy. Your boat could explode otherwise. You can also activate the hard lock targeting to aim on enemies quicker. Restart the last checkpoint if you fail (or go back to chapter select and replay the sequence there).

You Might Hurt Someone With That
Shoot 10 Airborne Grenades

For this trophy you must shoot a grenade that has been thrown at you while it is in mid air to do this you must enter bullet time that will allow you to slow down the movement of the grenade and therefore make it easier to shoot. There are several areas in the story where grenades are thrown at you and this shouldn't take too long.

One Bullet At A Time
300 Headshots

For this trophy you simply have to get a total of 300 headshots throughout your single player career, you will get this on the way to completing all of the grinds if you are having trouble with getting headshots simply go into bullet time to make your life a little easier. You can also earn this trophy whilst in multiplayer mode.

You Play, You Pay, You Bastard
100 Kills With Melee

You can earn this trophy both on the story and in multiplayer mode by using the melee function on 100 enemies. On the story mode I suggest setting your difficulty to easy and simply run around meleeing people by running up to them and pressing to melee them. If you do this you will more than likely get this at around chapter 7 or earlier.

100 Kills During Shootdodge

For this trophy you must kill 100 enemies while shootdodge is initiated to initiate shootdodge simply point the in any direction and press you must have bullet time to do this ability and if you use it everytime your bullet time meter is full you will get this before you get halfway through the game.

Colder Than The Devil's Heart
Kill 30 Enemies In 2 Minutes

Location: Chapter 5 - Checkpoint 14
This can easily be done during the boat ride at the end of chapter 5. Load up checkpoint 14 in the chapter select menu, set the difficulty down to easy and enable hard lock. Simply shoot all of the enemies. If you shot everyone then you will need to destroy two more trucks after the next checkpoint.

Past The Point Of No Return
Take 100 Painkillers

You can collect painkillers from shelves, lockers etc whilst playing story mode. Look out for little yellow glowing pots and walk into them to collect them. To the bottom right of your screen is a small outline image of yourself and in the center of there will be a number that represents have many painkillers are in your possession. Use your painkillers wisely when your health is low by pressing to take a pain killer. The trophy will pop when you take your 100th painkiller.

An Echo Of The Past
Find All Clues


There are a total of 65 clues to collect throughout the game and finding them reveals additional information about the characters and events taking place in the game. Finding every Clue in an individual chapter also unlocks the Bullet Cam on every kill option in the chapter select menu.

Chapter 1 - Something Rotten in the Air
  • Location #1 - Celebrity Magazine - On the coffee table in the apartment you enter at the start.
  • Location #2 - Dropped Photo - On the ramp heading up through the car park whilst following the on screen prompt to collect clues.
Chapter 2 - Nothing But the Second Best
  • Location #3 - Dead Soccer Star - after the shootout in the VIP area, check the seating by the windows.
  • Location #4 - Nightclub Flyer - also in the VIP area, look on top of the bar.
  • Location #5 - Ex-Cop - when heading through the toilets out of the club, approach the middle stall door.
  • Location #6 - Torn Dress Piece - also in the toilets area, check the right hand side of the sink.
  • Location #7 - Portuguese Newspaper - on the side in the kitchen, by the radio.

Collect All Golden Guns


There are a total of 84 golden guns parts to collect throughout the game which unlocks 28 shooters in total. Once collected the shooters can then be used in multiplayer mode. A number of parts are located throughout each chapter as detailed below:

Chapter 1 - Something Rotten in the Air
  • Location #1 - PT92 (1/3) - Go to the end of the corridor after the very first shootout and to on the left by the window.
  • Location #2 - PT92 (2/3) - After exiting the lift into the lobby, go to the far side and check in front of the planter.
  • Location #3 - PT92 (3/3) - After opening the car park shutter, check the corner straight ahead to your right.
Chapter 2 - Nothing But the Second Best
  • Location #4 - .38 Revolver (1/3) - In the opening club area, climb onto the stage and check the DJ area.
  • Location #5 - Mini-30 (1/3) - After the shootout in the VIP area, look behind the bar.
  • Location #6 - .38 Revolver (2/3) - Upstairs in the club, head through the door in the upper area to the left and access the DJ booth.

  • Location #20 - SAF 40 Cal (1/3) - in the aftermath of the explosion, go through the destroyed wall to the right of the stairs at the end of the corridor.
  • Location #21 - M500 (2/3) - up on the roof, immediately turn right and circle around behind the wall.
  • Location #22 - SAF 40 Cal (2/3) - after surviving the collapsing water tower, climb on the roof to the left and head to the far end on the right.

  • Location #29 - LMG .30 (2/3) - after going through the large gate in the docks, go straight ahead and look in the wooden shack behind some barrels.
  • Location #30 - LMG .30 (3/3) - when you reach the large gate on the jetty, turn around and follow the path to the end and round to the left.

  • Location #47 - M972 (1/3) - when you enter the building after your first encounter with the police, look in the bathroom straight ahead.
  • Location #48 - M972 (2/3) - after evading the helicopter, as soon as you regain control check by the rubbish bags next to the steps you're on.
  • Location #49 - DE .50 (2/3) - after you see the police leading gang members away, follow the fence along to the right and check the undergrowth next to a tyre.
  • Location #50 - M972 (3/3) - in the same area, move forwards to the concrete area then turn left before the stairs and look in the corner to the left of the gate.
  • Location #51 - DE .50 (3/3) - once you've climbed along the ledge and taken out the next wave of police, head over the bridge and through the iron gate next to the stack of tyre.
Chapter 10 - It's Drive or Shoot, Sister
  • Location #52 - FAL (1/3) - after taking out the snipers, look in the chopped bus base straight ahead.
  • Location #53 - M4 Super 90 (1/3) - after swinging down into the bus depot on a hook, look in the storage room on the left.
  • Location #54 - M4 Super 90 (2/3) - in the next bus depot area where Giovanna lowers the stairs, check the workbench in the corner behind one of the raised buses.
  • Location #55 - FAL (2/3) - after shooting the thugs from the raised walkway, head down the stairs and go into the bus, check the far end.
  • Location #56 - M4 Super 90 (3/3) - upstairs in the office, look on the desk in the corner of the individual room.
  • Location #57 - FAL (3/3) - after heading downstairs in the office, look on the floor by the desks BEFORE opening the security door.

  • Location #61 - AK-47 (2/3) - after meeting Passos and finishing the initial shootout on the dock, double back to where you started and check around the other side of the garage building.
  • Location #62 - Super Sport (3/3) - after using the zipline, head to the right hand side of the building and look around the corner behind the entry ramp.
  • Location #63 - AK-47 (3/3) - after opening the gate in the Visitor Centre and heading upstairs, look down the steps immediately to the right.

  • Location #79 - Rotary Grenade Launcher (1/3) - at the end of the conveyer belt you start the chapter on, climb up onto the metal platform.
  • Location #80 - Rotary Grenade Launcher (2/3) - in the area above this conveyer belt, cross the room on the catwalk and go through the doors on the right in the control room.
  • Location #81 - Rotary Grenade Launcher (3/3) - after leaving the conveyer belt area and clearing the next corridor, go through the last set of doors on the right into a bathroom and check the showers.
  • Location #82 - RPD (1/3) - in the airport terminal, head up the escalator then cross over the bridge, turn left and follow the walkway to the far end.
  • Location #83 - RPD (2/3) - in the second half of the airport terminal, look behind the desk on the left hand side near the end.
  • Location #84 - RPD (3/3) - on the final tram you jump into, turn around and check the rear of the last carriage.

Finish All Single Player Grinds


The grind figures will accumulate whilst playing the story mode on all difficulties and they will not reset when you start a new game. You can also restart certain checkpoints over and over again to speed up the process as all kills will count even if you don't reach a checkpoint and restart. Complete the below grinds to unlock this trophy.
  • Bloodbath - 2500 kills (You will easily get this naturally over time)
  • Head Master - 1000 head shots (You should get this naturally over time otherwise try and aim for head shots in bullet time/shootdodge)
  • Arms Dealer - Shoot 250 enemies in the arm (Aim for the arm as much as you can in bullet time/shootdodge)
  • Leg Payne - Shoot 250 enemies in the leg (Aim for the leg as much as you can in bullet time/shootdodge)
  • Below The Belt - Shoot 250 enemies in the groin (Aim for the groin as much as you can in bullet time/shootdodge)
  • Dodge Brawl - Kill 1000 enemies during Shootdodge (Press + in the direction you want and shoot enemies whilst in shootdodge. Chapter 8 - checkpoint 5 is a good location to keep repeating)
  • Artful Dodger - Shootdodge for 50mins (As above but keep repeating it until you get to 50 mins but chapter 3 - checkpoint 14 is a good location to keep repeating)
  • Take Your Time - Kill 1000 enemies during Bullet time (Keep shooting enemies in bullet time by pressing until you get it)
  • Bullet River - Shoot 25,000 rounds (Just keep shooting guns until you reach the amount)
  • Take A load Off - Shoot 250 enemies while prone (Hold down until your on the floor in a prone position or after entering bullet time/shootdodge and you land on your stomach, you kill enemies in that position also)
  • Slow drive - Perform a 8sec Shootdodge (I got this jumping off the top of the stairs on the rooftop in chapter 2 after the heli pad or chapter 3 - checkpoint 14 is a good location when you jump off the steps in the stadium)
  • Cam Lover - Watch 750 Bullet cams (After shooting press to use bullet cam which shows the bullet killing your enemy)
  • Wreckage - Blow up 200 vehicles (Best place to blow up vehicles is in chapter 14 checkpoint 13 and keep repeating)
  • Double Damage - Kill 1000 while dual wielding (Equip yourself with two hand guns and press to select when dual wielding is available)
  • Blow Out - Kill 250 enemies with explosions (Best place for explosions is chapter 14 - checkpoint 13 and keep repeating)
  • Guesswork - Kill 250 enemies with Blind fire (Hide and cover behind an object and press to shoot making sure Max only points his gun around the corner or over the top of the object to shoot enemies. Chapter 10 - checkpoint 12 is a good location to keep repeating)
  • The Turtle - Kill 1000 enemies from Cover (Hide and cover behind an object and press to step out and to shoot)
  • Back from the Dead - Win 250 Last Man Standings (Equip yourself with painkillers and when you get shot enough, you will go into last man standing where it will go into slow mo and you need to shoot the enemy that shot you before they continue to shoot you until your dead. This will use 1 painkiller each time and chapter 8 - checkpoint 5 is a good location to keep repeating)
  • Fire works - Shoot 200 Explosives out of the air (Shoot the grenades and molotovs in chapter 10 - checkpoint 12 and keep repeating)
  • Scrapper - Melee 150 enemies (Press to melee as many enemies as you can. Chapter 1 - checkpoint 2 is a good location to keep repeating)
  • Pharmacist - Use 500 Painkillers (Keep collecting painkillers and press to use them)
  • Fall Guys - Cause 250 enemies to topple over railings (Kill enemies next to railings and hopefully they topple over. Chapter 10 - checkpoint 7 is a good location to keep repeating)

  • Siege - With their back to the wall, one gang must hold on to 3 territories, one after the other.
  • Short fuse - One gang must arm one of two bombs while the other tries to protect the bomb sites from destruction.
  • Delivery - Both gangs must complete to collect and deliver their team's items to a single drop off point.
  • Turf grab - Gangs battle for an important piece of turf.

Kill 100 Other Players

All you need to do is accumulatively kill 100 other players from any online multiplayer modes. You can track your progress via your grind menu.

Max Payne Invitational
Invite someone to play through the in-game contact list

Whilst on the multiplayer menu press to switch the screen to your friends contact list. Select and highlight anyone of your friends and press the button to invite them. The trophy will pop as soon as you send the invite.

Man Of Many Weapons
Unlock All Weapons

Whilst you rank up in multiplayer mode you will also start to unlock weapons. To get this trophy you will need to reach rank 40 as at that rank, all weapons would of been unlocked as below:

  • Rank 1 - PT92, M500, .38 Revolver, M10, MPK.
  • Rank 2 - Flashbang.
  • Rank 4 - 1911, SAF .40, M972, FAL, AK-47, Mini-30, M4 Super 90, RPD, Tin Can, Grenade.
  • Rank 20 - 608 Bull, SPAS-15, FMP G35, MD-97L, AUTO 9MM, RPG, Smoke Grenade, Tear Gas.
  • Rank 40 - Super Sport, MICRO 9MM, DE .50, G6 Commando, Grenade Launcher, LMG, M82A1, Sawn Off Shotgun.

Man Of Many Faces
Unlock All Faction Characters

There are six factions to choose from and you need to level up to rank 7 to unlock all factions the below factions. Once you reach rank 7 the trophy will unlock. To reach rank 7 will take around 3-5 hours depending on your skill.

Deathmatch Challenge
Winner In Any Public Deathmatch

You will need to finish in first place in the below deathmatch to get this trophy. If your having difficulty getting this trophy perhaps organise a boosting session. Once you player ranks up, your weapons and loadout items will increase so you may find yourself having to rank up a few levels before achieving this trophy depending on your opponents.

Grave Robber
Looted A Body

This will be one of the first online trophies that you will earn and it can be earnt on any of the online public multiplayer modes. All you need to do is either kill another player or stand next to a recently killed player and hold the button whilst standing next to them. Keep holding the button until you see that the small circle icon that appears above the dead player has completed a 360 degree circle to complete the looting feature. You will loot that player for cash, adrenaline or painkillers. The trophy will pop as soon as you have looted your first dead player.

Note: The looting feature will not work if the dead player has been looted already by another player.

The Gambler
Won A Wager

To gain access to the wager option you will need to firstly cumulatively earn $2000 whilst in multiplayer mode. Once you have earned the required amount, you will need to play the gang wars mode. At the start of each round, you will have the option to place a wager on a player getting the first kill within that round or something similar to that. Each wager will cost $100 and the game will provide you with three players to choose from for you to place your wager on.

Note: Next to each player you will see the amount you will win if your wager is correct and the amount won is decided by the players position, score, rank etc. The lower the amount the better chance that player will win the wager.

Sweep
Flawless Team Gang Wars Victory

Whilst in the multiplayer menu select the gang wars option. The gang wars mode consists of five rounds, consisting of two teams and each round will be different game. You need to stay with the same team and your team will need to win all five rounds in one go to get this trophy.

Note: You only need to complete this on either free aim or soft aim mode.

Training Complete
Achieve Level Rank 50

You will need to get to rank 50 to unlock this trophy which will take around 30-35 hours depending on your skill. There are ways of getting extra XP and cash for loadout items to speed it up:

  • Vendatta - When a player kills you twice you can place a vendetta on them earning more XP if you kill them before they do.
  • Hardcore - Hardcore playlists earn you more XP but you need 1000 kills to unlock the playlists.
  • Crews - Playing in a crew will yield extra XP in matches and improve team skills.
  • Wagers - Placing a wager on which player will get the first kill in gangwars earns you extra cash.
  • Grinds - Completing the grind accomplishments will earn you extra XP.
  • Free Aim - Free Aim playlists will earn 20% higher XP than Soft Lock and Hardcore playlists will also give you 40% higher XP in Free Aim.

Note: You will need 619'500 XP to reach rank 50. Once you reach rank 50, you have the option to pass into Legend. The option to pass into legend appears on the multiplayer menu below playlists and private matches, and this option is only available when you are rank 50 and a new Legend level is available. In order to reach maximum rank in Max Payne 3, you must level up 300 times (six times through levels 1-50) and pass through all 5 ranks of Legend.

Dearest Of All My Friends
Kill Someone On Your Friends List

This trophy can be earnt in two different ways in any public multiplayer mode. The first way is by pure luck where you kill an opponent on the opposing team and that same player is on your friends list. The second and more quicker way is to invite as many of your friends into a public match and follow the same above method.

Note: If you don't have any friends that play this game then use the Official Boosting Thread to find other members to play with.
