[top]Introduction

Metal Gear Rising is a spin-off the critically acclaimed Metal Gear Solid franchise, where instead of controlling Snake you control Raiden, and instead of sneaking and killing enemies silently, you chop the bastards in tiny pieces. While Kojima's Studio is still behind the story, the gameplay and overall game direction is now handled by the studio Platinum Games, who has made the known games Bayonetta and Vanquish. As said you control the one-man army known as Raiden, who, by help from his awesome sword, slices through hordes of enemy to stop whatever threat there is at the moment, from moo'ing mini tanks to choppers with rocket launchers. Everything is possible.

The game got some fairly good reviews scoring an 80 out of 100 on Metacritic, and to somes' surprise is also pretty popular with the gaming fanbase, even with the outcry and worries about the game being abysmal.

The Game Trailer:

[top]Tips & Strategies

Light attacks

You do this by pressing . These can make some pretty fast, but not that devastating attacks.

Heavy attacks
Heavy attacks are done by pressing , and are used based on the Special Weapon you're using. A combo between light and heavy attack usually is the best choice since it's hard-hitting and fast.

Blade Mode
Press and hold to activate Blade Mode, where you can either do horizontal attacks with or vertical with or use the control stick to do it in what ever way you want.

Zandatsu
When an enemy is weakened, if you into blade mode, you'll see a red box on their upper body. If you slash through that and then press then you can rip out the spine of the enemy to restore health and energy.

Execution
When an enemy becomes stunned you can walk up to them and press and at the same time to take them out instantly in a very flashy way.

Ripper Mode
After R-03 you can press both controls stick, when you have full energy to enter Ripper mode, that can slice enemies quickly. It will only work for some time though.

Parry

When an enemy attacks, his eyes glows red. You can parry it by moving the control stick in the direction of the enemy and press . This may take some practise to figure out, but rehearse it early, since it's a core mechanic.

Perfect Parry
When you parry something just in the last second, you make a perfect parry, and Raiden makes a powerful attack. This results in the enemy getting stunned, and this is a godsend on Revengence difficulty.

Avoid
Avoid is a handy skill that can be bought, that let's you press + to dodge enemy attacks. It's more reliable, but you can't perfect parry anything this way.

Attacks that can't be parried

Sometimes enemies have golden glows instead of red. These attacks can not be parried, and have to be dodged or avoided.

Special weapons can be equipped as the heavy attack (so you use them by pressing ). There are three of them.

Pole Arm

Can be bought after R-01. This weapon is a pole made of arms. It has stick attacks, and whip attacks. This weapon is pretty good against hordes of weaker enemies, but also some tougher ones.
Enemies it's good against: Dwarf Gekkos (ironically), Custom Cyborg, Fenrirs, Mule Gekko.

Sai
Can be bought after R-03. This weapon is a small "fork", which can be thrown and electricute and stun enemies (though you can't execute them). There are many enemies it's good against: Sliders, Vodomjerkas, Mastiffs, Hammerheads, Heavy-armed Cyborgs, GRADs.

Pincer Blades
These can be bought afte R-04. It some very heavy that are slow, but deals tons of damage.
Enemies this weapon is good way: Heavy-armed Cyborgs, Cyborgs, Raptors, many bosses.

What to do

Get behind an enemy without him seeing you and press to take him out silently. You can see if an enemy has seen you by the exclamation point above their, and also the HUD colour. If it is yellow, they're suspicious and you need to hide. If it is red, they've seen you, and a battle ensues.

What to use

Well, you can use Cardboard Boxes, Oil Drums, 3D Photo Frames and Smoke grenades to avoid encounters, but mostly use the AR () to look through walls to see the best route to take them out.

There are some extra weapons you can use by tapping or holding it down and fire with . My recommendation is unless you are sneaking around, don't use them.

Grenade
A simple premise really. This is believed to be the most damaging sub-weapon.

EMP Grenade
A grenade that shocks enemies for a few seconds, giving you a chance to Zandatsu them or something.

Smoke Grenade
Used for stealth. A smoke grenade explodes in smoke, so the enemy has a harder time seeing you.

Jamming Grenade
A jamming grenade, jams all electronics. I doesn't have many uses to be honest.

RPG
A Rocket-Propelled Gun, that shoots missiles. This is best when aimed, but you can quickfire it.

Homing missiles
This is a RPG that doesn't hurt as much, but it homes on the enemies. This is probably the most useful sub-weapon.

Cardboard Box
Aaah, the good ol' Cardboard Box. You can use it sneak around, although you will act suspicious if enemies see you move while in the box, but it definitely has its uses.

Oil Drum
This oil drum has the exact same use as the Cardboard Box.

3D Photo Frame

This makes the enemy approach the Photo Frame you threw, making it easier to walk around them. It's for stealth.

[top]Cheats, Glitches, & Exploits

You can use all of the wigs and blades you unlock for your revengeance playthrough. Also if you buy the game in Europe or have pre-ordered the game, you will receive a code for the Fox Blade. This thing is a beast, and can be used to make Revengeance difficulty easier. Also if you don't feel like playing the game through hard and then very hard mode first, you can enter this code to unlock all difficulties.

Code:

[Thanks to Dudemaximum for pointing that out to me.]

[top]Roadmap

First of all, play through the game on normal, getting all of the collectables and listen to all of the codec conversations. They are all listed in the "Collectables" section. You may want to get some of the misc. trophies too, but it's not required.

Play through the game, but on normal mode. This is mostly to prepare you and to unlock Wig C, which requires all left hands and completing the game on hard or higher.

Complete all of the VR-missions to get the trophy for that, and to prepare you for Revengeance mode.

This one is going to take you some time. Use the code in the cheats section of the game to unlock Revengeance Difficulty, get through all of the levels on Revengeance Difficulty getting all S ranks.

If you're missing anything go get it now (preferably on easy difficulty), and once that is done you have a shiny new platinum trophy in your collection.

[top]Trophies

[top]

Revengeance
Obtain all Trophies.

Let 'er rrrrip!... and get all the other trophies too will usually help.

[top]

File R-00: Status - Closed
Complete File R-00: Guard Duty.

This is gotten by completing the introduction level. You'll have to battle a big UG, but since it's your first real battle it shouldn't be tough.

[top]

File R-01: Status - Closed
Complete File R-01: Coup d'État.

This is either the second or third longest chapter. Things to note are two boss battles (actually 3... kinda) and a ton of Codex conversations and collectables.

[top]

File R-02: Status - Closed
Complete File R-02: Research Facility.

A relatively long chapter, but this sewer level (yeah, I know) introduces some really tough enemies. There is a big tank to defeat in the end.

[top]

File R-03: Status - Closed
Complete File R-03: Mile High.

I'm not sure if R-01 or R-03 are the second longest. There is a boss at the end as usual.

This chapter is fairly sized, but it has pretty much the same kind of enemies.

[top]

File R-04: Status - Closed
Complete File R-04: Hostile Takeover.

This is by far the longest chapter in the game. There is a huge elevator segment in the level. A big movie studio is also crammed in there, and it ends of with yet another boss battle.

[top]

File R-05: Status - Closed
Complete File R-05: Escape From Denver.

An extremely short chapter that kinda results in a lame way. There is a trophy for beating it in 7 minutes, be aware of that.

[top]

File R-06: Status - Closed
Complete File R-06: Badlands Showdown.

This is another short chapter. This is just one boss against your arch nemesis throughout the whole game.

[top]

File R-07: Status - Closed
Complete File R-07: Assassination Attempt.

The last chapter. This is a pretty short one. Fight your way through the hangars to reach the final boss and defeat him to beat the game.

[top]

Becoming a Lightning God
Complete story mode on Revengeance difficulty with all S rankings.

This is the hard one. This is gonna keep many from the platinum, but it's made a ton easier if you walk in prepared. First of all fully upgrade your HF Murasama Blade (Fox Blade if you have that DLC), get all the wigs, and fully upgrade the Pincer Blades and Sai. The rest of the BP goes to whatever you feel like. You will most of the time use Wig B, because when you can use Ripper Mode forever.

Now, the battle system functions this way; it gives you points on certain criteria, that being time taken, BP earned, Zandatsus made, longest combo, kills and then you get bonus points if you didn't take damage or didn't kill anyone. This may sound crazy, but the easiest way is definitely going for the No Damage bonus. If you don't you have to do perfect on all criteria Doing No Kills is out of the question, since you will be guaranteed to get no points on the kills and Zandatsu criteria, and you will have to do a No Damage run to get S rank anyways.

One warning:
You don't need to do the whole game in one run, but you need to S rank every battle in the chapters in one run.

Hold on another warning incoming:
Before every Boss battle (that is Metal Gear RAY rematch, Mistral, the Boss GRAD, Monsoon, Sundowner, Metal Gear Excelsus and Senator Armstrong) save and back up the save, since they have checkpoints that can make it impossible to S rank if failed.

One last warning:
Since some fights only appear when facing the enemy head on, you should never do stealth kills. It might screw you over. There is one exception to this in Chapter R-04, where you have to take out the panels. Take out two of the panels without being seen to start the ranked fight.

See the trophies for beating the bosses while taking no damage to see how you defeat those, and check the "S-rank Fights on Revengeance Difficulty" section on stats and locations of the optional battles.

Here is some battle tips for some of the different kinds of battles:

Boss Fight: Metal Gear Ray.

The first battle is pretty easy. Just Ninja Run back and forth, avoid the lasers, and if he headbuts parry it for extra damage. Make sure you destroy the turret on each leg.

The second battle is harder. You can get to 73% even before the first attack, so you cut off the armor on the head. After that get a few punches in when you can, but be careful. The charge to the laser attack is the best place to rack up damage.

Boss fight: GRAD boss

There is a GRAD boss and a normal GRAD. As soon as the battle start move forward and perfect parry the attack the GRAD boss does, to take out a massive chunk of his health. Deplete the rest manually while having you and the normal GRAD on opposite site of the GRAD boss. After the GRAD boss destruction, the normal GRAD should be easy to take out.

Boss fight: Minstral/Monsoon clone fight

These are easier versions of the real boss fight. They have some of the same attacks so look at the respective boss battle trophy to check how to fight them.

R-03 Ranked Fight 11

This battle has you moving slowly. You need to take out all 5 enemies without to much hassle. Sneak behind them and slash to the best of your ability.

R-04 Ranked Fight 2

For this one unequip Wig B and equip Wig A for unlimited supply of sub-weapons. Have the Homing Missiles take out the missile launcher guys, and then use the stationary machine guns to take out the others. Use your blade to take out Shielded enemies and the Mastiff's. The GRAD is annoying. Use the stationary machine gun to shoot him and shoot the homing missiles he shoot so they don't hurt you. Don't try to for No Damage on this one particular fight.

Metal Gear Excelsus:

Get through the first attack, without getting harmed, and when the foot comes, go to Ninja Blade and hack away. Do the same the head in part two for a much easier time. Remember to Zandatsu the Mule Gekkos, with the big laser part.

[top]

Steel Tail
Cut off Metal Gear RAY's metal tail during File R-00.

This for the first battle against the Metal Gear RAY. Sometimes, though very rarely, the Metal Gear will spin around hitting you with it's tail. If you parry that attack a quick-time event happens that will cut off the Metal Gear's tail. Now, to parry it is a bit weird. You need to point the analog stick against the Metal Gear itself and not the tail. Don't sweat it. The Metal Gear always does this attack twice in a row. First counterclockwise then clockwise, so you get two chances to do it.

[top]

No Flash Photography!
Destroy all the Gun Cameras in File R-01.

There is a lot of Gun Cameras at the facility in R-01, but none before that. You can simply destroy them by slashing them. They are all in the open and easy to find. You can take out the enemies first, or do it stealthy.

[top]

Dwarf Raiden
Incapacitate all the soldiers in File R-02 using a Dwarf Gekko.

In chapter R-02 there is this section where you steer a Dwarf Guy. There are five guys in the area. Go behind them and press to take them out. Take out all enemies for this trophy. If you get suspicious go back to entrance to lower suspicion.

[top]

A Walk in the Dark
Complete the abandoned railroad sequence in File R-03 without using ARMode.

This is in the part of chapter three where you chop down the wires to an elevator and travels down. After that you will find yourself in a darkened area with a lot of patrolling Mastiffs. You can not press the button. It's not really hard but expect to fight your way through rather than actually stealth it. You can see down in the railroad. You may want to turn up the brightness on your TV or in game. There is a mandatory battle, so don't worry about that. Whenever you engage a battle the light gets brighter and you can actually see what you're doing. You may want to go through it once with AR to memorize it, and then do it without.

[top]

Menace to Society
Cut off the finial at the top of the pagoda in File R-04.

There is this section in chapter R-04, where you are in a Japanese Garden. There is a big pagoda as soon as you enter. Defeat the enemies and go on the boxes to right, then follow the path to get to the lowest roof. There are some Japanese laterns. Use those to jump up to the next roof, and then the next roof, and so on until you get to the top. There is a finial you can cut, and *ding* the trophy is yours.

[top]

Great Escape
Complete File R-05 in less than 7 minutes.

On easy difficulty this can be done in under 5 minutes (I did it in 3 minutes and 23 seconds). I still recommend equipping Wig B, to have Ripper Mode activated always. You don't even need to sneak past enemies, you can just kill them all. Always Ninja Run. Last thing to note is that the last battle can be skipped entirely by just destroying the fence and move on.

[top]

Surprise Attack!
Arrive at the objective in File R-07 without being spotted.

The AI seems to be a bit dumber on easy. You basically need to get to the boss without being spotted (Their exclamation points can't be red, although yellow is fine). There are 4 segments before this boss battle. For the first one (outside of the gate), just walk in a big circle around them, you may have to throw a smoke grenade. The next section (outside of the hangar) take out the hammer guy first and then the guy to the right of the hangar. Then take the small entrance to the right of the hangar (watch out for the Gun Camera. 3rd section (inside the hangar) jump on the crates and then on the metal walkway, take out the guy there. Get to the other end of the walkway, and you should be able to silently sneak out, without the Hammer Bros. around the Hammerhead sees you. The last segment (outside of the hangar... again) is the hardest, but a smoke grenade and a Cardboard Box combo should do it.

[top]

Prodigal Murderer
Defeat Mistral without taking any damage on Hard difficulty or above.

I would actually say that this boss is easier to beat without taking health on Revengeance mode than either hard or very hard, so I suggest doing this on your Revengeance run. Let's take a look:

Wait, wait... It's worth mentioning first that if any of the Dwarf Gekkos grabs you, it will not count as a No Damage run!

Pole attacks:
She has some simple attacks where she just runs up to you and tries to whip you. These are easily parried.

Wheel Formation:
She spins around like a wheel. You need to parry this multiple times, but with not that great accuracy is needed.

Pole Stab:
She basically stabs with the pole, this can parried, and quite easily too.

Throwing Gekkos:
She stands on a tower and throws Dwarf Gekkos at you. You can Blade Mode slash or Ninja Run to avoid it.

Golden whip attack:

A whip attack you can't parry, so you better avoid it.

Whip attack:
Introduced in round 2 and 3. There 3 ways she does this, either she slashes you, she jumps and slashes you, or she make this huge slash. All easily parried.

Equipment:
A good sword and Wig B

Round 1:
This is a pretty easy boss, with the right equipment. One hit from Ripper mode and her staff is ruined. The best method, however, is to while keeping an eye on the Dwarf Gekkos, try to perfect parry one of her attacks. This will cause her health to significantly decrease, and she will already do the quicktime event that causes the round. Her pole attacks and Wheel Formation seems to be easy-to-parry attacks.

Round 2:
If you did the perfect parry the last round, then this round will be quick, since her health is already low enough to bring on the last round. If not, you have a bit of work to do. First of all, when she shoots the Dwarf Gekkos jump or Blade Mode to avoid them, parry her slide (you can even try to perfect parry it.

Round 3:
Okay, this is the hard part. You really need to look into every move she does, and try to block or avoid it. Don't let the Dwarf Gekkos gang up on you. When you break her staff, just fire away in Blade Mode.

[top]

Genius Destroyer
Defeat Monsoon without taking any damage on Hard difficulty or above.

This is actually the hardest boss to do. I again recommend doing this on Revengeance mode, since, while not impossible, it's hard to get an S rank while taking damage.

Stab Combo:
A series of stabs, that actually can be hard to avoid/parry.

Flying Stab:
He jumps and stabs you, if he gets his hands on you, wiggle the analog stick. The jump attack can also be parried.

Smoke Bomb:
He hurls a smoke grenade and does a series of very easy to parry attacks from all different angles.

Uppercut Kick:
Usually stringed to the stab combo. It's a kick, if not parried, will hurl you up in the air.

Sai, Sai, Legs, Upper body combo:
He only does this while in "purple" mode. He first attacks you with his Sai, then his other Sai, then his legs, and lastly his upper body. If parried correctly it makes the Blade Mode warning appear.

Body part hurricane 1:

He only does this while in "purple" mode. He turns into a hurricane and hurls all of his body parts at you. It needs quick parries, but when you get into the rhythm it's easy.

Body part hurricane 2:
He only does this while in "purple" mode. He turns into a hurricane and then flies into you multiple times, which you have to parry... multiple times.

Armor Throw:
He jumps on the gate and throws Lorentz helicopters and tanks at you. For the first four times he does this it's okay to make Blade Mode, but after that it's easier to run away. Stay at the left corner

Lorentz Wheel:
A big wheel of Lorentz armor. This is very easily parried. Parry it twice, and you can slash it in pieces.

Equipment:
Fully leveled up Pincer Blades, Fairly leveled Sai, and a good sword.

Have the Pincer Blades ready before the battle. Right as the battle starts, charge up your pincer blades, and hit Monsoon and then immediately block. Decrease Monsoons health until he starts throwing helicopters and tanks, as this happens switch your weapon to the Sai. Now he is in "purple" mode, to easily get him back, use a charged up Sai on him and he gets stunned. Use the Blade Mode prompt to cut off his head. Get the Pincer Blades charged and ready for when he recreates himself and unleash the attack. This kinda sets him on a loop, until he is at 40% health. Here he uses the Lorentz Wheel. Block it twice and slice it, but before doing so switch to Sai again. Now he makes an attack you have to parry. When the first Sai is gone use your Sai to stun him again, and do the loop all over. At 10% health he uses the Lorentz Wheel once more and directly after that the last QTE comes and you have defeated him. This may take some tries, and it can be harsh parrying his combos. It's mostly a question about practise.

[top]

Truly Human
Defeat Sundowner without taking any damage on Hard difficulty or above.

Again, this would be best on Revengeance mode, since you pretty much have to do it there as well.

Basic Swing:
His basic swings, that easily can be parried.

Combo:
A combo on three hits. Easily parried.

Shield Bash:
He swings his shields in attempt to hurt you. Often used when you're behind him. Can be parried, but it has a low reaction time.

Shield Block:
He cover himself in shields. Don't attack on the front or you will receive damage. Go behind him and attack.

Shield Charge:
He Charges into you. If you parry a QTE event happens where you have an opportunity to cut of two of his shields. Aim carefully or you'll take damage.

Shield Bash 2.0:
A Shield Bash you can't parry. It's pretty to just walk away from it though.

If you succesfully remove all of his shields he uses these two new attacks.

New Combo:
A bit more menacing combo. Still easily to parry though.

Lightpole Roundabout:
He spins around a Lightpole and he swings it around.

Equipment:
A good sword and Wig B and a good Sai.

He is actually pretty easy. The basic strategy is to defeat him, without taking his shields away, since he becomes more menacing with it. You can usually just go behind him and slash him like that. There are two threats for your No Damage run. One is his Shield Block, which can be annoying. He can't do that while you're behind him though. The other threat is the Hammerhead that flies around the arena. Because of that, you need to Ninja Run a whole lot in this battle. You can use the Sai to take down the Hammerhead though, but with this equipment this boss shouldn't be any trouble whatsoever. The best advice is to just keep it safe and parry rather than taking a chance to attack.

The QTE kill can actually be a bit difficult... if you don't know how to do it. When riding the Slider, stay in the lower right corner and just shoot away. When you get to the end, just QTE the rest and you're done.

[top]

Chosen by History
Defeat Samuel without taking any damage on Hard difficulty or above.

Again Revengeance mode, where actually is a lot easier, because of Perfect Parry.

Slash Attacks:
Very basic easy-to-parry single attacks.

Combo 1:
A hit, then a pause and then three hits, where the last two is very close together. It's difficult to parry, but because of the last attack it almost guarantees a Perfect Parry.

Combo 2:

Two hits, then a pause, and then two more hits. It has a very strange rhythm making it hard to parry, but it is doable.

Combo 3:
Three hits, then a pause, and then a powerful last hit. This one is pretty easy to parry.

Combo 4:
Has the same structure as Combo 1, but the last two hits are spaced more out, making it easier to parry, but harder to perfect parry.

Charged Attack:
A very easy to perry charged up attack. Seriously this can be seen a mile coming. You can also avoid it by jumping over it.

Charge Attack 1:
If you stray away from him, he will charge into you. It's a bit difficult to parry, since he attacks a little while after getting close to you, always much later than expected.

Dive Attack:
A jump and a dive. It's quick and hard to parry. Having Sam locked on helps tremendously though.

A very annoying attack:
He makes a mini charge with a vertical slash, that often comes out of nowhere, makes it hard to parry. Often used right after a combo.

The Golden Duo:
He has two very similar golden attacks, that can't be parried. Walk and jump away to avoid this. If you accidentally attack him, he unleashes a fury upon you.

If you have Sam lose his sword he gains three different attacks (and he only uses those three):

Punch:
He punches you. Pretty easy to parry.

Dash'n'Grab:
He charges into you. Very easy to parry, but hurts a lot if it gets you.

Kick:
This move isn't telegraphed at all (not even a red glow), which makes this attack hard to parry.

After Sam retrieves his sword he gains two additional attacks to the original set of attacks:

Charge Attack 2:
He charges into you three times in a row. This one is easier to parry, but you have to do it three times.

Cheap-Hit-Boulder:

You do not want to be near him when he does it, but he doesn't telegraph this attack. If you are away from him, you get a Zandatsu prompt to slash them over.

Man, he has a lot of attacks.

Equipment:
A good sword, and Wig B, fully upgraded Pincer Blades.

There is a rather easy way to do this fight. When Sam here is doing the Combo 1, you almost always get a Perfect Parry, if you parry it all. This will cause 50-60% of his health to decrease. Skipping phase 1 and 2 of the fight. Now the biggest hazard here (and this is where the fight gets hard), is the rocks he throws. Therefore don't stand too close to him for too long. Pincer Blades can be quite devastating. It's not really difficult to knock Sam out long enough to do a Pincer Blade attack. The QTE is rather easy actually.

[top]

The Politics of Silencing Foes
Defeat Sen. Armstrong without taking any damage on Hard difficulty or above.

This fight is better on Revengeance mode, just like the others, because you kinda have to do this perfect on Revengeance anyways.

These are the attacks he uses in Phase 1, 2 and 3.

4-Hit Combo:
A combo of four hits. The last hit is a pain to parry since it's really delayed, but it's not too bad.

High Kick:
A very easy to parry kick he does every once in a while.

Heavy Attack:
A big attack that damages a lot, but pretty easy to parry.

Sonic Boom:
He makes an attack which can't be parried. This is easily one of the most annoying of his attacks. You need to get the hell out of there to avoid it.

Tackle:
An attack you can't parry. He glows yellow and then charges at you. The best way to avoid this attack is to jump out of the way. It needs the right timing though.

These are the attacks that only happens in Phase 3.

Linear Energy Burst:

He either does this once or twice. He shoots a line of molten rocks in your direction. Ninja Running is the best way to avoid this.
Cracks In the Ground:
He does a charge and makes some cracks in the ground. Avoid this by standing in between the cracks.

Walls of Fire:
He charges and makes huge walls where fire shoots out. This limits your battle arena a lot, and makes the fight harder.

He Basically Throws A Huge Chunk Of Metal At You:
Yup, indeed he does. The way you're supposed to this is to carefully cut through all of the red squares, but I prefer to just Ninja Run forward to avoid it.

Nano-Heal:
He heals himself and gets a green aura around him. Stop this by carefully cut the red square on his back. Be sure that you walk to him from behind or he will grab you and punch you (this does cancel the healing though).

The QTE:
His fist starts to glow and he wants to punch, if you attack him, you get a helpful boost to deplete his health, if not you still deplete his health, just not as much.

Man this fight can be exploited as hell.

Equipment: Wig B, Defensive Offence, A good sword.

Round 1:
Very simple round with some basic attacks that are very easy to block. The only to really note is the two golden attacks, which are a pain. Really be defensive since this round is on a timer that switches to next round when it reaches zero.

Round 2:
This is hardest round, since you have no good means of attack. Use defensive offence a lot to avoid many of his attacks. Again this is on a timer, and at one point Armstrong uses this big energy blast attack, which you can't avoid, but it doesn't hurt, and it's just a means to switch to the third round.

Round 3:
With Wig B this is so exploitable. Run up to him and enter Blade Mode. Keep slashing at him. He moves very slowly and it's very possible to get his health down. You may want him to make his attack, so you can move out of the way and then focus on slashing him again. That's it. You can get a good 300-400 combo on him. When he reaches 100% health he will throw the metal thing at you. Just run forwards again. He will probably begin to heal himself. This is the most dangerous part of the whole round. Slash his back, and then do it all over again to beat him. He will activate the QTE and after that you will be done.

[top]

Anti-Cyborg Sentiment
Destroy a total of 100 Cyborgs during story mode.

Cyborgs are your standard enemy in the game and there are hundreds of these guys spread throughout the game. You will get this pretty early on your first playthrough. At some point your blade is strong enough to just cut through them with blade mode. If a cyborg has an RPG, I suggest taking him out first, since they are the biggest threat. They get better armor further in the game.

[top]

The Bigger They Are...
Destroy a total of 100 Custom Cyborgs during story mode.

These are the Cyborgs that takes a lot of hits to defeat. They're really frequent in R-04, R-05 and R-07. It's basically the same strategy as the other Cyborgs, except you have to do it for longer.

You'll most likely get this on your second playthrough.

[top]

Demilitarized Zone
Destroy a total of 100 Heavily Armed Cyborgs during story mode.

These are the big guys with the hammers. There are definitely not 100 of them in the game, so you'll need to get this in your second or third playthrough (most likely third). Now to take 'em down, it's important to note, that there are no easy way to do this. There are no perfect parries or anything. You need to actually take them down by continuously hit them. You can take off their arms eventually, but that means you can't Zandatsu them.

[top]

Herpetophobia
Destroy a total of 10 Gekkos during story mode.

Mule Gekkos (or simply Gekkos) are the moo'ing tanks with legs, that can kick you. If you perfect parry any of its attacks you can make an execution. You can also make an execution by simply parrying its charge attack. Sometimes it will stomp in the floor and gets it foot stuck, you can make tons of damage by pressing near it when it does that.

[top]

Silverback
Destroy a total of 10 Mastiffs during story mode.

Mastiffs are these gorilla looking UG's that can be quite a menacing foe. Do not get grabbled by 'em unless you're ready for some serious stickrotating action. Their hardest to avoid attack is their jump attacks. I recommend that you stop whatever you're doing and just begin to Ninja Run like hell. Always focus on them when in a battle with them. There are two ways to execute takedown these guys, but they are both kinda hard to pull off. The hardest to do is that, sometimes they do this drop-kick, you can perfect parry, but that's hard to do. There are two kind of attacks where they jump up. One where they just jump, and one where they jump on a wall and then jump on you. The ladder can be perfect parried too. This one is easier to pull off.

You may get this in your first playthrough, if you face them all.

[top]

Extinction Level Event
Destroy a total of 10 Raptors during story mode.

Raptors are probably the best descriptions for these guys. They first appear in chapter R-02, where you first find George. Here you will be forced to kill 3. Raptors can be a pain the butt, but they have very telegraphed attacks, and they can all be parried with the exception of the electrical "bubbles" they make. If there is more than one Raptor in a battle and you kill one of them, the other will rage, becoming more aggressive, so take out the other Raptor first before all of the other enemies.

[top]

Pond Scum
Destroy a total of 5 Vodomjerka during story mode.

These are the flamethrowing enemies that kinda resembles gerridaes. There is not many in the game, but there are enough for one playthrough, if you know where to look.... chapter R-02. These only appear in this chapter to my knowledge. Boris will at some point inform you of an optional mission that let's you take out three. These also appears later in the level patrolling a square like hallway formation. If you kill one here, another pops up.

On to the fighting. You can't parry their flamethrowers. You will need to move out of the way for those. The best tactic though, is to run far away from them. They will most likely initiate a charge attack. Parry that and you an opportunity to deal a lot of damage.

[top]

Wolf Hunter
Destroy a total of 10 Fenrirs during story mode.

Fenrirs are the wolf enemies. They are quite fast, and it needs some blocking work to do it properly. If you perfect parry the spinning attack they do, you can execute them.

There are around 10 in the game overall. You may get it at the end of your first playthrough or may get it at the beginning of the second.

[top]

Slider Strike
Destroy a total of 10 Sliders during story mode.

Sliders are weak, but very annoying flying enemies. Using Sai can latch on to them and stun, making for an easier defeat. If not, then jumping should also do the trick. There are no real executions for these guys, but they are pretty weak on their own. They often hold cyborgs, so you can go for a double kill, but if you only kill the Slider, you'll have to face the Cyborg afterwards.

There are way over 10 Sliders in the game and this can be gotten on your first playthrough.

[top]

Jumping the Shark
Destroy a total of 10 Hammerheads during story mode.

Hammerheads are the Helicopters, firstly introduced in R-01. They fire missiles at you and they have gatling guns, and they can't be Zandatsu'ed. To defeat them I recommend the Sai, to latch onto them (and maybe stun them) and then beating them down. There is not enough Hammerheads to get in one playthrough, but you should be able to get it on the second playthrough.

[top]

Looking Out for the Little Guys
Destroy a total of 30 Dwarf Gekkos during story mode.

You will most likely get this through your first playthrough. Dwarf Gekkos are the small circular enemies with three arms. They are easily defeated, even on Revengeance difficulty. There are a lot of them in the Mistral fight, and that is where I unlocked the trophy.

There are no executions, but they are seriously not needed either.

[top]

Tearing Away the Disguise
Destroy all of the humanoid Dwarf Gekkos during story mode.

These guys are basically two Dwarf Gekkos that makes a humanoid shape. You need to defeat them to "collect" them. There is only 5 of them in the game, but the problem is that unlike all of the other collectables these doesn't save, meaning you have to get them all, from chapter 2 to 7, without going to the title menu, in one sitting, making this the only technically missable trophy. Your only reward is extra BP.

Check the "Collectables" section for their locations.

[top]

Datsu Right
Successfully complete 50 Zandatsus during story mode.

Zandatsus is when you go into blade mode and slashes the red square on an enemy, then pressing to retrieve his spine, healing you and restore your energy. Doing this 50 times would result in this trophy popping up. You may or may not get this on your first playthrough, but you have a plenty of times to do this.

[top]

What Doesn't Kill You...
In story mode, successfully parry 10 attacks in a row in one minute or less.

This one is not as hard as it sounds. Remember that parrying is done by pressing and holding while pointing the analog stick in the direction of the enemy, when he is about to attack. I got this on the boss battle against Monsoon. He makes an attack where becomes a whirlwind and hurls different body parts at you. This attack has at least 6 or 7 parries available. Monsoon is generally a fast paced boss battle with some easy parries on lower difficulties.

[top]

Assassin Behind Closed Doors
Successfully complete 30 Ninja Kills during story mode.

Ninja kills is stealth kills basically. You do it by approaching an enemy without having them see you and press for a one-hit takedown. There are quite a few stealth sections with 3-7 enemies, and this can definitely be gotten on your first playthrough. You may first get in a later playthrough, if you're really stealth-oriented.

[top]

You Don't Run from Chance
Successfully complete 50 Executions during story mode.

When you deal a lot of damage to an enemy in short period of time, the enemy may become stunned. Usually you can approach this enemy, and press + to make a quick kill. To stun an enemy you will probably do it mostly because of a perfect parry, where you deal a lot of damage afterwards. You'll most likely get this in your first or second playthrough.

[top]

A Lover, Not a Fighter
Successfully complete 10 No Kill battles during story mode.

Well, to do this you need to let the enemies get away, when you've cut off some limbs. This is a hassle and luckbased, and therefore I suggest doing this instead. First acquire one of these two weapons: Wooden Sword or Stun Blade. Wooden Sword is gotten by finding all Men In Boxes, while the Stunblade is gotten by finding all Data Storage. These weapons can't kill, and will guarantee a No Kill Battle. Complete 10 battles in total. Note, that there are some battles that can't be done with a No Kill.

[top]

Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Dismember three enemies during Blade Mode with a single attack.

The easiest way to do this one is by finding a big group of Dwarf Gekko's somewhere. There are a good bunch of groups in the game. The very beginning of chapter R-02 (after the Mastiff battle) is a good place to get this, and so is the Mistral fight, where they spawn in a group of five. To get this go into blade mode, and sewer one arm of three different Dwarf Gekkos. This may take a bit trial and error, but should be very doable on lesser difficulty settings.

[top]

Rip 'Em Apart!
In story mode, kill 100 enemies by cutting them.

Yeah, being the games main means of attack, it should be no surprise that you get this early on. In fact you will mostly likely get this is in chapter R-02. Don't even try with this trophy, you don't need to worry.

[top]

Love at First Sight
While remotely operating a Dwarf Gekko in story mode, find and communicate with all Dwarf Gekkos.

This is done in R-02, where you control the little Dwarf Gekko. There are five hidden Dwarf Gekkos that can be interacted with by go near them and press . The locations:

1. On a crate to the right of the starting point.
2. On the Crane above, you have to do a series of tricky jump to get there.
3. Behind a pipe in the corner.
4. On some pibes, middleways. You need to jump on a container first.
5. On some crates in the corner with the stairs.

A Big Fan of Lefties
Acquire all enemy officers' left arms.

Some enemies are what you call officers. Officers have a chip in their left arm that the Dok wants to retrieve. You have to carefully cut the marked section of the arm in blade mode. Failing to do so, will result in you having to press :pause: and restart from last checkpoint. There are 30 left arms in total to be acquired, and getting them awards you with Wigs, which are very helpful. Check the "Collectables" section of the guide for a complete list, and locations.

[top]

Amateur Radio Operator
Listen to most of the codec conversations.

At pretty much any point in the game (After completing R-00), you can press and then call up your colleagues and hear what they have to say. New conversations unlocks by doing something unordinary in the game usually, like seeing a cutscene, defeating or fighting a boss, stuff like that. Always listen to them at the start of each chapter, while facing every boss, and after defeating the boss, plus upon watching a cutscene. You know you've exhausted all conversations, when the conversations starts repeating. To decrease time, you can press and hold to skip though conversations. You need to listen to the conversation in normal speed, and some of these are really long (especially the Dok has a lot of anecdotes). While the number of conversations you need is unknown, the "most" in the description indicates that there is room for missing some.

[top]

Peekaboo
Discover all of the soldiers hidden in cardboard boxes.

Some Boxes in the game, has enemy soldiers in them. These boxes are light coloured, and hidden on special parts in the game. There are five of these in total and they can be quite hard to find. You're awarded the wooden sword (and BP) for finding them all. Check the "Collectables" guide to get the location of them all.

[top]

Data Mining
Acquire all data storage devices.

Data Storages are small pickups, that unlocks concept arts and a weapon. There are 20 of them scattered around the game. For a location of all of them see the "Collectables" section of the guide.

[top]

Humanitarian Assistance
Rescue all the civilians.

There is sometimes civilians to be rescued. These are hold captive by the enemies. You need to get up close to the enemies without them seeing you, because if they see you and you are far away, they will shoot the civilian. There are only 4 civilians though, and you can see them in the "Collectables" section of the guide.

[top]

Analysis Complete
Unlock every VR Mission.

This refers that you need to get these computer intel that you can find throughout the game. You collect them by walking up to them and pressing . This will unlock a VR Mission. There are 20 of these in total in the game.

Check the "Collectable" section for info for unlocking them all.

[top]

VR Master

Virtually a God
Set the highest score on every VR Mission.

To unlock all of the VR Missions you need to find all of the intel in the main game. Check the "Collectables" section on the locations of them. When that is done, you can select "VR Missions" from the main menu. I could talk about how to beat the VR-missions in general, but why do that, when I can talk about them individually. Below is a list of all VR-missions and how to beat them.

Objective: Eliminate all enemies
Time requirement for first rank: 00:40.00
Authors' Best Time: 00:39.27

Wow! Way to kick off the missions! This one is pretty hard, because of the time restriction. The fight itself is pretty easy. There are two waves.

Wave 1:
Enemies: 3 Cyborgs

Ninja run and press to tackle all enemies and splice them in 3 in 3-4 seconds.

Wave 2:
Enemies: 1 Mule Gekko, 4 Cyborgs.

Have the Mule Gekko charge at you to easily take it down. Until then, finish off the cyborgs by just slicing them. This is hard to fit in the time restriction, and it's also very luckbased.

Objective: Eliminate all enemies via Ninja Kill
Time requirement for first rank: 00:40.00
Authors' Best Time: 00:33.51

There are 5 cyborgs you need to take out silently.

First take out the guy right in front of you. Then activate AR and look at the enemy to your left as soon as moves a bit forward from the ledge, take him out. Go back onto the boxes and take out that guy, then run to the next boxes, jump on them and take out that guy that is up there. Now jump and take down the last guy at the right side ledge.

Objective: Arrive at the specified waypoint
Time requirement for first rank: 00:15.00
Authors' Best Time: 00:13.54

This one is quite easy. Ninja run the whole way. Take the left path for the most of the time to make it easier. Totally ignore the enemies.

Objective: Eliminate all enemies via Zandatsu.
Time requirement for first rank: 01:00.00
Authors' Best Time: 00:58.16

Three waves. You need to kill everyone by slicing the red square and take their spine.

Wave 1:
Enemies: 1 Cyborg.

Ninja slide into him ( + ) and slice him.

Wave 2:
Enemies: 1 Custom Cyborg.

This is the enemy that probably will take you the longest. Have the Sai equipped and use it to stun him, and then just slash away until his whole body flashes blue. Then slice him.

Wave 3:
Enemies: 1 Mule Gekko

This enemy will charge at you and parry it to take it down with QTE's. Remember to slice it in the red square at the end.

Objective: Eliminate all enemies using the supplied sub-weapon.
Time requirement for first rank: 01:30.00
Authors' Best Time: 01:28.48

This one is mostly a question about knowing where to stand and when. As soon as the challenge start collect two-three grenades and go to the left side of the screen. Aim for where the Dwarf Gekkos are walking towards you. A grenade usually takes out two, so quickly throw two, and run to the middle. Aim for the Dwarf Gekko in the middle and that should wipe out all of that. Lastly do the same with the last circle than you did with the first.

Next round go to the middle and wipe out the Dwarf Gekko on the pillar, and that may take out some of the Dwarf Gekkos that are walking around the pillar. If not when take them out afterwards. Quickly switch to the next pillar and get the Dwarf Gekko on it. This guy is hard to hit. After getting him take down the other Dwarf Gekkos around the pillar.

The next round quickly run to the left and take out the Dwarf Gekko on the pillar, and then take down the Dwarf Gekkos on the way to that pillar. You may get some of them before they begin to walk around the pillar. After take them down, all the way to the right, and do the exact same to the Dwarf Gekkos at that pillar.

Lastly run all the way to the left, and spam grenades where the Dwarf Gekko will appear to wipe them all out quickly.

Objective: Arrive at the specified waypoint without being detected.
Time requirement for first rank: 00:15.00
Authors' Best Time: 00:14.12

At first intersection, run to the left, turn around the corner and take out the guy (don't zandatsu him), the run to the center to take out the guy there, lastly run against the wall adjacent to the entrance and then run right to the waypoint. It's pretty easy actually.

Objective: Eliminate all enemies.
Time requirement for first rank: 04:00.00
Authors' Best Time: 03:38.27

4 Waves this time. the time constraint isn't as bad this time.

Wave 1:
Enemies: 5 Cyborgs with RPG's

This one is easy if you ninja slide ( + ) into the leftmost guy. And use the slowed down time to cut 3-4 of the Cyborg in half. The rest can be easily defeated.

Wave 2:
Enemies: 1 Vodomjerka, 4 Cyborgs with batons.

Run away from the Vodomjerka in hope it will do it's charge attack. If it does parry it for a QTE kill. The Cyborgs often into a group. This is good, since if you perfect parry an attack all 4 cyborgs becomes stunned and you can kill them all easily.

Wave 3:
Enemies: 3 Custom Cyborgs

The hardest round, since the jerks often gang up on you. Perfect parry is your best bet. It's hard for the first enemy, but it becomes gradually easier the fewer there are. Alternatively use the pole-arm for massive damage.

Wave 4:
Enemies: 2 Mule Gekkos, 6 Dwarf Gekkos

Perfect parry an attack from the Mule Gekkos (or just parry a charge, or make the Gekkos foot get stuck to the floor) to take them out easily. After that use the Pole-Arm to take out the Dwarf Gekkos.

Objective: Eliminate all enemies via Ninja Kill.
Time requirement for first rank: 00:50.00
Authors' Best Time: 00:47.94

Okay, run to the pathway to the right, take out the guy (as before don't do Zandatsu). Wait until the guy on the next passageway turns around and run over and take him out. Take the path to the right and take out the guy, and then take the guy on the passageway back to the starting point. Get back to the right side of the area and then walk to the third "row" and take out the guy there. Lastly run to the left and take out the last guy. It's quite easy when you learn the run pattern.

Objective: Arrive at the specified waypoint.
Time requirement for first rank: 00:20.00
Authors' Best Time: 00:17.90

Run past the first wall and jump to avoid the RPG fire. Run through the small passageway but take a right and destroy the wall, go past all of the RPG guys and destroy another wall to arrive at the waypoint. There is a lot of RPG fire, and it may take a few tries to get the route nailed down.

Objective: Eliminate all enemies via Zandatsu.
Time requirement for first rank: 01:20.00
Authors' Best Time: 01:13.47

This one is a bit odd and pretty easy if you know where the enemies spawn. You can cut them by just going into blade mode and then cut. Remember to Zandatsu them all. The only place where it gets difficult is when the spawned enemies have RPG's and they can knock you down if you're not careful enough. Just keep trying to memorize the placements of the enemies.

Objective: Arrive at the specified waypoint without being detected.
Time requirement for first rank: 00:25.00
Authors' Best Time: 00:22.29

This one can be tricky, but there is a cleverly hidden path to success. Wait for the first guy to come into sight. Jump over him and avoid the cameras sight. Jump up the platforms and Ninja Run through the small crack. If you use AR mode you can see some invisible platforms to the left. Remember the location to be able to Ninja Run them, with manual jumping. The last obstacle is the cameras. There is a smoke bomb. Pick it up and throw it at the cameras to activate it and disable the cameras. Run past it all and you're done.

Objective: Eliminate all enemies using the supplied sub-weapons.
Time requirement for first rank: 02:30.00
Authors' Best Time: 02:23.68

This one is incredibly easy. Stand over the heat-seeking missiles spawn spot to automatically pick up ammo. And then just fire away to the best of your ability, while holding down the button while repeatedly pressing . The Mule Gekkos can take a good set of hits, so target them first even though they don't attack you.

Objective: Eliminate all enemies.
Time requirement for first rank: 03:30.00
Authors' Best Time: 02:05.85

This one is easy when using the combination of two special weapons.

Wave 1:
Enemies: 7 Sliders

Equip the Pincer Blade and keep spamming the hurricane attack ( + holding down ). The Sliders will pretty much fly into the attack and get spliced. This will though do keep you from Zandatsus, but you won't get hit much, if used correctly.

Wave 2:
Enemies: 4 Sliders, 2 Hammerheads

Use the same tactic to take down the Sliders first. Then equip the Sai, and have it charged up and attack one of the choppers and then slash away, keep doing that till you can slash over. Do the same with the other Hammerhead.

Objective: Eliminate all enemies via Ninja Kill.
Time requirement for first rank: 01:10.00
Authors' Best Time: 01:06.62

This one is going to be hard to explain, but I'll give it a shot.

As soon as the challenge starts run to the right and jump on the platform and jump on the next. A Mule Gekko should be jumping away here. Get to the edge and press to take down a Cyborg (remember no Zandatsus). Run along the platform and take the second path, run along until you see a platform with a set of stairs. Jump on the stairs behind the Cyborg and tak him out. Quickly drop down to level below to hopefully see a Vodomjerka. Chase it and take it down. You will then see another Vodomjerka, which you can take down as well. You'll most likely be in a hallway where there is an exit the bottom of it and to the right. Run through that exit and turn around to see a set of stairs. Go up the stairs about midways, and activate AR. A Mule Gekko will jump to the top of the stairs and turn around. Take it down. Now quickly run to the center pillar so you face the adjacent side of the pillar as the Mule Gekko. Activate AR, as soon as the Mule Gekko turns right, go clockwise around the pillar to take it down.

Objective: Arrive at the specified waypoint.
Time requirement for first rank: 00:30.00
Authors' Best Time: 00:25.52

Okay, to your right at the very beginning of the course to your left is an enemy. If you have the Sai equipped you can press and hold to latch on to him and skipping a large portion of the course. This is the key to success. After that you should just Ninja Run the rest. Note the rocket launcher enemies. They are quite annoying but zig-zag running (maybe a bit of jumping) should fix that.

Objective: Eliminate all enemies.
Time requirement for first rank: 02:30.00
Authors' Best Time: 02:19.38

This one is really easy actually. As soon as the mission start man the mounted machine gun and fire away. If you're having trouble try to memorize the spawn points of the enemies. Remember to shoot until you see that they are down, it can be hard to see if they got killed or not. Also you aim faster when not shooting. Your biggest worry though is the GRAD at the end. Not because it's hard, but because it sometimes skates out of the mounted machine guns' reach. If it is off-reach for more than 8 seconds, I suggest restarting the mission.

Objective: Eliminate all enemies using the supplied sub-weapons.
Time requirement for first rank: 03:30.00
Authors' Best Time: 03:21.65

This is my least favourite and by far the most unfair (not necessarily the hardest) challenge. You need to defeat three waves of enemies using only grenades and automatic missiles.

Wave 1:

Enemies: 3 Cyborgs then 5 Cyborgs.

The good thing is, that you can stand on the spawn point of the automatic missile and then fire away getting automatically filled up again. This round is actually pretty easy.

Wave 2:
Enemies: 4 Cyborgs, A lot of Dwarf Gekkos.

Start off by running close to the wall for one of the RPG shooters. Then take out one of the baton enemy (the one closest) and then the other (you may want to dodge and attack and then strike. Take out the RPG-armed carefully and one at a time. Now comes the deal breaker in the time department. Defeat the Dwarf Gekkos as fast as possible, using missiles, restock, and go to the last area.

Wave 3:
Enemies: 1 Mule Gekko, 2 Raptors, 1 Dwarf Gekko (3 if you count the ones inside the Raptors).

This is the most frustrating. Spam all of your five missiles (quickfire by just tapping ) on the Mule Gekko, to take him out quickly. Now run around the course, quickfiring either grenades or missiles (missiles are faster, but cause less damage), and keep doing it, until one of the Raptors are out. The other Raptor becomes angry and will be more aggressive. This is the time to stand on a Missile spawn, and rapid fire it until it goes down (it will most likely take 8-10 hits). Defeat the remaining Dwarf Gekkos afterwards. The Raptors attacks can be quite menacing so when facing them always keep a move on. This part is extremel finicky and can be very unfair at times.

Objective: Eliminate all of the enemies.
Time requirement for first rank: 10:00.00
Authors' Best Time: 05:06.04

This seems to be the one that gives the most people trouble, and yeah it's pretty hard. You're put on Revengeance mode and most attacks kills you instantly. You need to got through five waves, but fortunately only 2 of them are hard (wave 2 and 3) if you know what to do.

Wave 1:
Enemies: 1 Mule Gekko, 6 Dwarf Gekkos.

Avoid the attacks until the Mule Gekko tries to charge at you. Parry the Mule Gekko to be able to take it down instantly. After that equip either the Pole-arm or the Pincer Blade to take down the Dwarf Gekkos. If it takes more than 20 seconds for the Mule Gekko to charge at you, I recommend to restart the mission.

Wave 2:
Enemies: 2 Mastiffs, 4 Dwarf Gekkos

The Mastiffs can be menacing, but if you run in large circles they won't be fast enough to catch up to you to use their most powerful attacks that often. You're basically looking for a certain attack where the Mastiffs jump on a wall and then try to jump attack you. Perfect parry that and you can instantly kill one of them (sometimes both). If you don't get both Mastiffs in one swoop, just redo the procedure with the other Mastiff.

Wave 3:
Enemies: 1 Fenrir, 2 Heavy-Armed Cyborgs, 2 Dwarf Gekkos

This is the hardest wave. The Fenhrir sometimes throw knifes. If you get the armored cyborgs between you and the Fenrir it will instantly kill or stun him. If it just stuns him walk up to him and press + to take him down. The Fenhrir is quite annoying and suggest staying close to it, or it will fire its laser and that is hard to avoid. It will do a flying spinning attack. Perfect parry that and you can take it down instantaneously. If there is still a Heavy-Armed Cyborg left, you have to take him down manually since there are no insta-kill. I recommend either using the Sai or the Pincer Blade to take him down. Now take down the Dwarf Gekkos.

Wave 4:
Enemies: 3 Dwarf Gekkos

This is just 3 extra Dwarf Gekkos. Sometimes wave 4 starts while wave 3 is still in progress. Just wait till last to take out these guys.

Wave 5:
Enemies: 1 GRAD

This may seem hard, but this guy can get exploited easily using the Sai. It charges up and you can use it to stun the GRAD. Now slash it until the Sai is charged up again, where you then can use it again to stun him again. After many slashes you can take him down with a Zandatsu.

Objective: Eliminate all enemies via Zandatsu.
Time requirement for first rank: 10:00.00
Author's Best Time: 05:01.33

This is the last (and in my opinion the best and easiest) of the trilogy of the difficult VR Missions. There is basically three waves of enemies all involving Fenrirs. The best strategy for this (and it actually works quite well) is to abuse the Pincer Blades.

Wave 1:
Enemies: 1 Fenrir

Do the combo with the Pincer Blades ( x 3) to stun the Fenrir and take him out in 10 seconds. If the Fenrir begins to quickly move around, you've been too slow, and it's gonna be a bit harder to do the combo. Remember to Zandatsu.

Wave 2:
Enemies: 2 Custom Cyborgs, 2 Heavy-armed Cyborgs, 1 Fenrir.

First of all, don't provoke the Fenrir. It will just stand there until you've taken down two enemies. As much annoying as the Heavy-armed Cyborgs are, go for the Custom Cyborgs first. They have significantly less HP, and there quick attack is an annoying contrast to your slow Pincer Blades. It starts out hard, but as soon as that yellow box appears over the enemies, they become weaker and the Heavy-armed Cyborgs will now fall when hit by the Pincer Blades. As soon as the body turns blue on any of the enemies immediately stop attacking and cut them and perform Zandatsu. There is a possibility that if you perfect parry a Custom Cyborg they will become stunned, so you can perform an execution. The Fenrir will eventually come out to play, but put that dog in it's place by doing the same combo as with the first Fenrir.

Wave 3:
Enemies: 5 Fenrirs.

This last round is much easier than the second round, especially if you use the Pincer Blade combo. Though you're probably forced to block a whole lot more and be careful of the attacks. It may be hard to get hit in at first, but as the number of Fenrirs decrease the easier it gets. Remember that if the whole body turns blue don't try to stun it, but immediately cut it over.

Objective: Arrive at the specified waypoint without being noticed.
Time requirement for first rank: 00:20.00
Author's Best Time: 00:16.09

Ok, the trick to this one is shortcutting your way up to the upper floor. You do this by unequipping any special weapon, target an enemy on the upper floor and then jump attack ( + ). You wont make it to the enemy but close enough to land on the platform, and that's what you want (you can't use the Sai, since that makes the enemies aware of your presence). There are two guys you can do this with. The first one is located by taking the second opportunity you can to take a left (beware the Mule Gekko) and then take a right, and he's up on that platform. The second guy is all the way at the end. This one is faster, but also a bit harder to pull off since you have to kinda aim to kick beside him to not having him notice you.

[top]Collectables

After the first battle with the Metal Gear Ray, you will chase a guy in a sewer like "hallway". There is a rectangular grate that can be cut in pieces. Ninja run and press to slide into the grate hole to find this Data Storage.

At the train sequence, you will start off, by standing on some containers. Get to the next set of containers. Drop down on the other side to find this data storage.

In the first building you enter, jump up the crates, then another set of crates to get to a second floor balcony. From there jump to the chandelier. Here it is.

When you exit aforementioned building you will see two enemies surrounding this guy on the street to the right hand side. To do this probably, silently take out the two guys on the roof tops starting at the leftmost and then go clockwise, taking out the guy on the bridge, and stand on the roof top behind the two enemies. I'll you hear dialogue and you'll need to quickly take out the guy closest to you. The other enemy will most likely notice. Lure him away from the civilian, so he doesn't accidentally hurt him, and then take him out. Now tell the civilian it's safe.

After a mandatory battle with a Mule Gekko (The tank on legs that sounds like a cow), go up the step to the right, and the cross the first bridge you come across, then turn left and go behind the building to find this.

After the fight with some enemies you get appointed to a door you need to enter. Do that and the intel should be right in the room. Boris even mentions it.

After the boss battle with the Wolf UG, enter a little building with a fence, you need to destroy. The data storage is on a shelf at the back of the small room.

After the helicopter battle there will be 4 guys and two flying enemies around this poor guy. They will shoot him before you can approach them, so instead get the EMP Grenade in the box, and use it to stun the group of enemies. Kill them all to save this civillian.

This intel is located on a rooftop in the same area as the civilian. Look around and you will find a very low hanging roof as a part of a way taller building. Jump on that, and then jump on the building to the left, and then on the next building with the railing follow the railing to the other side of the roof to find this intel.

Kinda mandatory. You'll need to open the gate. The good Dok even mentions it. He is marked with a red dot on your minimap. Cut his arm off.

After the courtyard battle, enter the building and then walk one time right and then two times left to find this intel in a little backroom.

In the very next section there are two enemies. One of them has a chip in their arm.

There is three guys left in the area. Sneak kill them all, then there should be a group of three enemies close to the exit door. One of them has a chip in his arm.

After entering the facility, you will get to a big room filled with cameras. One of the guys there has a chip in his arm.

In the same room as aforementioned. On the upper walkways on a metal box.

In the same room, go to the upper walkways. Look around to see a lot of containers. There is a hole in the floor of containers. Down there is an enemy in a box for you to kill.

In the next room there is a staircase moving up... don't take that one, instead go down.

There is a part where you need to sneak past 2-3 Mastiff's (the Gorilla looking enemies). There is a door you can cut through. In there is some intel.

You will have to jump down a drain. Then you will have a fight with a good few Dwarf Gekkos. After that turn around and go back to find this guy to defeat.

In the room with the generators where you pick up your first box. It's easy to see.

In the next room, stay on the upper walkways and there is a blue chest on a pibe, where this data storage is in.

In the area with the pyro enemies patrolling there is a choppable door in the middle that leads to this box.

You will get to a cutscene where Raiden observes the Brains. After that a battle initializes. One of them has a chip in his left arm.

While playing as the Dwarf Gekko, there is a went to the left of the starting area, dash roll (+) into it.

While still playing as the Dwarf Gekko there is another Data Storage on a set of crates in a corner.

After the Dwarf Gekko section, you will probably have a lot of knocked out guys on the floor. One of them has a chip in his arm.

After you defeat the GRAD, there are two enemies in a hallway. One of them has a chip in his arm.

In the next room (where Dok calls you) look to your right to find this intel.

The very first enemy to attack you has a chip in his arm.

After defeating two waves of regular enemies, and then two tanks go to the left side of the screen to see two guys. One of them has a chip in his arm.

Behind the big pathblocking wall, behind the guy you've just taken an arm from.

On the glass roof for the escalators in the room you need to enter. You need to go up the stairs on the nearby walkway to get there, and then jump on it to actually require the Data Storage.

Enter the building, then go up the stairs and the intel should be behind the glass wall to your left.

After an office battle with a Mule Gekko and Dwarf Gekko's enter the next hallway and go left instead of right to find this box at the end of the hallway. Destroy the guy inside to make it count.

Now go the right path to find more enemies. Again a chip in one of the guys' left arm.

Go up the elevator and get outside. Use the crane to get to the next rooftop. One of the guys with wings has a chip.

On the same roof as the last collectable. It's behind some pibes between two "buildings". There is a normal chest on the other side of those pibes.

After defeating the sledgehammer enemies, you will have to jump to another rooftop. There is a slider (a flying enemy) that drops of an enemy, and then flies off. You need to defeat it before it gets away, and it will drop this data storage.

It's one of the guys right in front of you, from the last collectable. Now before doing anything rash, please read the one below.

There is a civilian too. I recommend throwing an EMP grenade when all three enemies are close together, so they don't shoot the civilian. Take out the enemies (remember the left arm), and get the civilian back on his feet.

In the dark tunnel there are some boulders on the left side of the railroad. On the other side of these boulder will you be able to find this data storage.

You'll eventually have to jump on a train to pass a lot of boulders, as soon as the boulders stop, turn left and walk forward to get to this intel.

Way over to the other side of the railroad to the right side. Remember to defeat both parts of it. It's kinda hard to see it in the dark.

Not very subtly hidden in the last room before heading outside again.

One of the guys at the very first battle when you get outside has a chip in his left arm.

The next battle. The guy on the circular platform at the top of the staircase has the chip in his left hand this time.

Another battle, another chip in the left arm of a person. It's the rocket launcher guy on the ledge closest to you to the left of the big staircase.

While in this area we could pick up the last Data Storage for this chapter. Go to the bottom of the stairs. See that food stand? Jump on it and then jump on the sign that reads: "Thunderbolt Café". It's a bit finicky jump, then ninja run to the awning to your right.

This left arm is held by a commander that is in the very first fight in this chapter.

After that battle, walk up the stairs and turn left. Behind a glass montre is this intel.

Okay, there is a pillar on the right side of the room. It has a tiny platform on it. Jump on that platform. From there jump to the the TV's at the wall, then the next TV and finally look behind you too see another pillar with a platform. Jump to it to retrieve this Data Storage.

When hacking the elevator and the ambush occur, one of the enemies with a shield will have a chip in his arm.

This is one is a bit... odd. When you exit the elevator you'll find some guys to take out. If you destroy two of the panels as instructed by the Dok without getting seen, a Hammerhead appears, and he has a chip in his arm.

One of the other guys has a chip in his left arm in the same area as above.

Okay, in the same room as the last arm, there is a intel hidden in a small sidearea on the hallway adjacent to the room with the exit. You need to break down a glass door to get it.

From the entrance elevator go through the first glas door you see and then turn to an immediate right to get to a small room with intel.

When you enter the japanese garden there is a battle. One of the enemies has a chip in his arm.

There is another guy in this area with a chip in his arm. He is on the ground floor. Use the AR to locate him. You can take him out silently via the rooftops.

Continuing through the garden you will prompted to a walkway. Under that walkway, on a building, is a blue chest with this Data Storage held inside.

At the bottom part before the big elevator battle, there is this one guy with a chip in his left arm.

At some point in the big elevator battle, some guys with rocket launchers are gonna take out your elevator. Instead of switching elevators though, keep fighting guys. The last cyborg killed will drop this Data Storage.

Now get on the other elevator, and a Hammerhead will appear. He has a chip in his left arm.

Get to the top with the elevator and take out the last guys. Jump on the containers in the corner and ninja dash ( + ) through the small opening. There is a MIB there. There is another set of containers and a narrow opening to exit again.

When you exit through the narrow opening there are a lot of boxes in the corner. Behind those boxes is another intel.

After the double boss fight and a talk, go up the stairs and turn around to walk over the walkway. At the center turn right and walk to the outer wall, where you need to walk to the left. Go up the generator and over the pibes and continue to find this blue storage chest, where this Data Storage is to be found.

Continue through the level to a tiny room. In the corner is this intel.

Right before crossing the bridge to the final boss fight for this chapter, turn left to see a Humanoid Dwarf Gekko on a platform. Use secondary weapons to kill it.

The very first battle in this chapter contains a guy with a chip in his arm.

After the battle, go behind the greyish tram car, you can see on the other side of the street. There is a trash can there. Slash it up to make it drop this Data Storage.

In the next circular area, there is a Hammerhead. He has a chip in his left arm.

This guy as the bottom of the staircase in the next area. Now if anyone sees you (the Dwarf Gekkos or the Sliders) he will flee and you will have to restart the chapter. Get to the bottom without anyone noticing (the boxes work wonders here) and slash him when close enough.

There is a fight scene right at the next area. Here there is another chip in a left arm. After retrieving it reload the checkpoint.

Because there is a civilian to be rescued. This is the hardest to rescue. Equip an EMP grenade and try to aim at the back two enemies. The GRAD can easily spot you so you'll have to use this awkward aim from afar. If they get stunned lure the GRAD away from the civilian to take it down. The cyborgs should be focusing on you rather than the civilian now, so take out the enemies and retrieve the last civilian in the game.

A little later there is a fight with a Mastiff and some cyborg. One cyborg jumps from the railway. Defeat him and go through the doorway, then into a new small room where this intel is at.

This is solely a boss battle and there is nothing here. Move along.

As soon as the chapter starts turn around and jump on the boulder, and then on the platform to find this intel.

For the last Humanoid Dwarf Gekko you need to alert or interact with the enemies at the road. Cross the road and go past it to find this last Humanoid Dwarf Gekko.

One of the enemies on the road to the entrance has a chip in his left arm.

The Hammerhead in the next area has a chip in his left arm.

In this area there are some armored vans and behind those are some containers. Jump on that and then the green awning to find this Data Storage.

One of the Hammerheads in the hangar also has a chip in his left arm.

At the right side of the hangar on ground floor under the big walkway can this intel be found. That's the last intel.

For the last Data Storage. Get on the walkway in the middle. Now jump on the helicopter away from the entrance, and then jump on the right propeller. These jumps can be a bit finicky.

The last fight the last chip in arm. This belongs to the RPG wielder on the ledge after the hangar.

Right after that battle the game tells you to go straightforward and then to the right. Instead of turning right walk straightforward the whole time, and jump past the container in a little secret alcove, for your very last collectable.

Remember the chapter need to be completed for the trophies to pop.
