[top]Introduction

In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called Runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes. In this seemingly utopian paradise, a crime has been committed, your sister has been framed and now you are being hunted.

You are a Runner called Faith - and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story. Mirror’s Edge delivers you straight into the shoes of this unique heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat and fast paced chases. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective, you will be drawn into Faith’s world. A world that is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous. Live or die? Soar or plummet? One thing is certain, in this city you will learn how to run.
  • Move yourself: String together an amazing arsenal of wall-runs, leaps, vaults and more, in fluid, acrobatic movements that turns every level of the urban environment to your advantage and salvation.

  • Immerse yourself: In first person every breath, every collision, every impact is acutely felt. Heights create real vertigo, movements flow naturally, collisions and bullet impacts create genuine fear and adrenaline.

  • Challenge yourself: Fight or flight. Your speed and agility allow you not only to evade, capture and perform daring escapes, but also to disable and disarm unwary opponents, in a mix of chase, puzzles, strategy and intense combat.

  • Free Yourself: Runner vision allows you to see the city as they do. See the flow. Rooftops become pathways and conduits, opportunities and escape routes. The flow is what keeps you running – what keeps you alive.

[top]Tips & Strategies

  • All trophies are listed in XMB order. This will make it easier to navigate through the guide.
  • If you look at Time Trials & Speedrun Videos, you will always see that people use a certain move to boost their speed after slowing down. The little speed boost called the Side Jump Boost can make tons of difference for your Speedruns & Time Trials, therefore you should learn how to use it. Turn 90 Degrees and perform a Side Jump and immediately after you have performed a Side Jump turn your eyesight to the direction you want to go to. If you need some visual tutorial, watch the video below:

  • While falling down an elevator shaft, perform a vertical kick and you won't have perform a roll. This will get a few seconds of in your Speedruns.
  • The 30 Hidden Bags are cummulative, you don't necessarily have to get them in 1 playthrough.

[top]Roadmap

Playthrough 1:
Your Main Goals in this playthrough will be:
  • That's a wrap - Complete the story mode on any difficulty.
  • Packrat - Find all 30 hidden bags.
  • Test of Faith - Complete the game without shooting an enemy.

I highly recommend playing your first playthrough on Easy Difficulty, so you can get the Test of Faith trophy without too many problems. It's way more difficult to get this trophy on Hard Difficulty, because especially Chapter 9 is very difficulty to complete without shooting an enemy. While playing through Easy Difficulty, it's the best to also get all the 30 Collectable Hidden Bags in the game, so you don't have to bother with those anymore on Hard Difficulty and make things a bit easier as well. Complete the tutorial first and don't skip it so you get the Back on the job trophy. When you reach the Prologue Chapter, there are a lot of trophies that can be unlocked there and for a quick overview of that you look below.

Playthrough 1 - The Prologue Chapter:
Your Main Goals in this playthrough will be:
  • Prologue Complete - Complete the Prologue in story mode.
  • Bag lady - Find all three hidden bags in one chapter.
  • Vrooom! - Maintain sprint speed for 30 seconds.
  • Up, over, under, onwards - String together the following: jump, coil (over obstacle), slide (under obstacle).
  • May I have this dance? - String together the following: wallrun, turn, jump, wallclimb, turn, jump.
  • Head over heels - Complete a chapter of the game without ending up in a heavy landing.
  • Untouchable - Complete a chapter without getting shot.
  • Pacifist - Complete a chapter without firing a gun.
  • Martial artist - Perform a melee hit from a wallrun.
  • Sweet goodbye - Triggered the flip-off move.
  • Hey, it's-a-me! - Execute a stomp move on an enemy.

There are a ton of trophies you can unlock while playing the Prologue Chapter. You will get a few of them without even realizing though. You don't need to get all these trophies in just 1 playthrough through the chapter, but it's possible to do. If you miss a trophy don't worry, you can replay the chapter as many times as you want to.

Playthrough 2:
Your Main Goal in this playthrough will be:
  • Pro runner - Complete story mode on hard difficulty.

For your second playthrough, you want to play the Story Mode again but this time on Hard Difficulty. In order to unlock the Hard Difficulty, you need to complete the game first on any other difficulty, that's why you need at least 2 Story Mode playthroughs in this game. Hard Difficulty can be tricky at some places, but it shouldn't be too difficult for the average gamer.

Speedruns:
Your Main Goals in this part will be:
  • Prologue Speedrun - Complete a Speedrun of the Prologue below the target time.
  • Chapter 1 Speedrun - Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 1 below the target time.
  • Chapter 2 Speedrun - Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 2 below the target time.
  • Chapter 3 Speedrun - Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 3 below the target time.
  • Chapter 4 Speedrun - Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 4 below the target time.
  • Chapter 5 Speedrun - Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 5 below the target time.
  • Chapter 6 Speedrun - Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 6 below the target time.
  • Chapter 7 Speedrun - Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 7 below the target time.
  • Chapter 8 Speedrun - Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 8 below the target time.
  • Chapter 9 Speedrun - Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 9 below the target time.

You can either choose if you want to do the Speedruns or the Time Trials first, but I would recommend to do the Speedruns first as you are familiar with the levels by now. The Speedruns are gonna be the hardest part of this platinum, because the target times aren't easy.

Time Trials:
Your Main Goal in this part will be:
  • Still counting - Attain a Time Trial star rating of 50.

After you have finished the Speedruns, you will start at the last tricky part of this platinum trophy, the Time Trials. Time Trials are small challenges where you have go through certain spots on a level in an as fast as possible time. "Perfection" is the key word for these Time Trials. On your way to this trophy you will also unlock several other trophies: On the clock , Access all areas , Baby steps & A for effort .

Clean Up:
Your Main Goals in this part will be:
  • All other trophies you have left.

If you have any trophies left by now, this is the part where you want to get those in order to get your well-earned Over the Edge trophy.

Ding!
Your Main Goal in this part will be:
  • Over the Edge - Unlock all other trophies.

Congratulations! You have earned the Platinum Trophy in Mirror's Edge. You will now be part of our exclusive Mirror's Edge Platinum Club.

Pro runner
Complete story mode on hard difficulty.

  • In order to unlock the "Hard Difficulty" mode, you need to complete the game first on any other difficulty.

Hard Difficulty can be tricky at some points. On Hard Difficulty you will die much easier because the enemies will do more damage and on Hard Difficulty you won't have the runnervision (red objects) anymore, so you need to know what you are doing and where you are going in order to stay out of too many troubles. In open areas always keep running, disarm enemies if needed, use their weapons to kill some enemies, don't hesitate to pick up a new gun even if you're not out of ammo yet, try to skip fights there where possible and take cover when you got shot. Chapter 9 is probably the hardest chapter to complete on Hard Difficulty, therefore you should watch the 2 videos below:

Attain a Time Trial star rating of 50

  • Pure Time Trials (DLC) and the Free Downloadable Time Trial Map "Synesthesia" in the Playstation Store do count forward to your Time Trial Star Rating.

You need to attain a Time Trial Star Rating of at least 50 Stars. You can see how many stars you have attained at the upper right corner of your screen by the Time Trials. Time Trials can be very frustrating some times. The best thing to go through the Time Trials is by first watching 1 or multiple 3 Stars Youtube Videos, secondly find a ghost online to race against that just got 3 stars (you could pick the world record holder, but there is a very little chance you can keep up with him), thirdly find a way through the Time Trial you can get comfortable with and as last practise, practise and practise. You will only need 50 stars for this trophy while you can get 99 Stars if you download the Free Downloadable Time Trial Map and the Pure Time Trials DLC in the Playstation Store. If you don't want to pay money for the Pure Time Trials to make this trophy easier, there are 24 Time Trials (including the free 1 in the Playstation Store). This means that if you can get 2 Stars on all Time Trials, you only need to get 3 Stars on 2 Time Trials. If you are having trouble with getting 2 stars on a certain Time Trial, try to get 3 Stars on another Time Trial, and just get 1 Star on that Time Trial.

Prologue Speedrun
Complete a Speedrun of the Prologue below the target time.

You need to complete a Speedrun of the Prologue below the target time. The target time to beat is 3:00 minutes. Speedruns are much bigger than Time Trials so there is a lot more chance you gonna make mistakes, luckily the times don't require you to do a flawless speedrun through the level, however they will still be very hard at some points. The Prologue Speedrun shouldn't be too difficult. I suggest you take a look at both videos and make your own Speedrun with the tricks you can from the Elite Run Video and things you can't from the Normal Run Video.

Complete a chapter of the game without ending up in a heavy landing

  • The Tutorial Level won't count in order to unlock trophy.

This trophy can be easily done in the Prologue Chapter. You need to complete a chapter of the game without ending up in a heavy landing, which means that you shouldn't take any damage from any landings in a chapter at all. While jumping off a high object, press just when you reach the floor to perform a skill roll and you won't take any damage. Look the video below for a visual view.

Complete a chapter without getting shot

  • The Tutorial Level won't count in order to unlock trophy.

This trophy can be easily done in the Prologue Chapter. You need to complete a chapter of the game without getting shot, which means that you shouldn't take any damage from any shooting enemy in a chapter at all. The Prologue Chapter only has 2 enemies (and a group of enemies you can run away from). You have 2 options, you can either run past both enemies and hope you won't get hit or you can disarm both enemies (or only the first enemy). Look the video below for a visual view.

Complete a chapter without firing a gun

  • The Tutorial Level won't count in order to unlock trophy. For a more detailed description, see Test of Faith .

This trophy can be easily done in the Prologue Chapter. You need to complete a chapter of the game without firing a shot, which means that you shouldn't press while holding a weapon in a chapter at all. You are allowed to disarm enemies and pick up their weapons, if you just won't shoot you will be fine. Look the video below for a visual view (even though it doesn't say anything about this trophy in the title, the maker of this video still does the requirement).

Test of Faith
Complete the game without shooting an enemy

  • You can track your progress on this trophy by pressing . A message box will appear at the top of the screen saying that you haven't shot a single enemy so far.

You need to complete the game without shooting an enemy during the entire game. This means that you are only allowed to perform melee attacks, disable enemies' weapons and shoot without hitting any enemies. I would avoid shooting during this playthrough at all though so you are sure you won't accidently shoot an enemy. I wouldn't recommend doing this trophy on your "Hard Difficulty" Playthrough, as Chapter 9 will be very hard to complete without shooting an enemy.

Perform a melee hit from a wallrun

You need to find an enemy that is standing close to a wall and perform a melee hit from a wallrun on him. Run against the wall with to do a wallrun and press when you are close to the enemy while doing the wallrun to kick him. A good place to get this trophy is on the Prologue Chapter on the last Checkpoint, because there will be a group enemies standing in the corner of the rooftop shooting at you.

Perform 15 successful disarms (outside of the tutorial)

  • The Tutorial Level won't count forward in order to unlock trophy.

You need to perform 15 successfull disarms in order to get this trophy. When you are close to an enemy, the enemy will try to hit you with his gun. There will be a short period where the gun turns red, whenever the gun is red, press to disarm the enemy. Disarming enemies isn't very easy, so you can use reaction time (slowmotion) by pressing to make things a lot easier.

Knock out 20 enemies by using only melee attacks and the trophy will unlock.

Triggered the flip-off move

  • This trophy can only be done during a combat.

You need to trigger off the flip-off move. A flip-off move is when Faith falls backwards and sticks up 2 of her fingers in the air while she is falling. While running during a combat, jump off a high object like a legde or a building, turn 180 degrees while falling with and press to stick 2 of Faith's fingers up in the air.
