Murdered: Soul Suspect is an action mystery game where you play as Ronan, who now needs to solve his own murder. You do so by interrogating ghosts, investigate crime scenes, and defeat evil demons. This games features a lot of collectibles, a story driven game, slightly awkward stealth sections, and a pretty good mystery. The game has received mixed reviews with a Metacritic of 60, with most scores ranging from 50 to 70 out of 100. This is definitely not a game for everyone, but if you enjoy a slower paced crime thriller and can overlook a few weird designs and flaws (and lots of collectibles) then this game might be for you.

[top]Roadmap




Complete all of the levels while getting all of the collectibles in all of the locations (with the exception of the overworld Salem streets). The reason why you don't want to continue to the Judgement house is because it will close off a few locations, and you will not want to do this all over again. Also note the four not-collectible-based missable trophies for the side missions: "The Missing Body ", "Amnesia ", "Carnage ", and "Scorned ".



Now get all of the 61 collectibles of the Salem overworld. The reason why you want to do this now is to have access to all the powers and areas, and it's a good idea to get all of them at once so you can use the "Collectible" guide at the bottom of the page.



Now complete the game, while getting all of the collectibles in the Judgement house.



If you missed any collectible or side mission in the first playthrough, do another playthrough to get them. Collectibles stack and you do not need to get all of the other collectibles that you already got in the previous playthrough.

The Death Wish of a Shady Man
Became a ghost and met a strange ghost girl


You get this for completing the first ten minutes of the game. You start out by dying... yeah... and then you will go through a few QTE's and after that a ghost girl appear, which you will follow and ask question. Afterwards you will get back to your murder scene, and the trophy will pop.

One of Us
Revisited the scene of your murder and discovered there was a witness


You get this by completing the apartment level, and you will need to investigate where you got murdered. It is a short level.

Makeshift Sanctuary
Found the witness and learned what she knew


This is completed after finding Joy at the attic of the church. This level is a bit longer, but it is very easy since it contains no demons.

Half-Truths and Whole Lies
Helped the witness escape the police station and gained an ally


This is for completing the police station level. It is a very short level (with lots of collectibles). It is mostly just investigating and distracting cops.

Discovered what happened to Sophia


This is for the cemetery level. This level is looooong, but it is a really easy level since it contain very few demons. You will need to investigate the murder of Sophia at the end.

Learned the fate of Rose and helped Iris escape the asylum


You get this by completing the Asylum level. This is a rather short and uneventful level with some pretty easy investigations scenes.

Wicked Tempers
Discovered links between the witch trials and the Bell Killer murders


You get this by completing the museum level. This is the longest level and there are a lot of collectibles. There are quite a few investigations here and this might take you some time.

Ghosts Never Die
Investigated the murder of Iris


For this you need to go back to the church. Another murder has happened and there are three investigations. The fight with the demons inside the church is a bit hard since there are few hiding spots so use the crows to distract them. This helps a lot.

Judgement
Discovered the Bell Killer's secrets


You get this by completing the judgement house level. This is the last and hardest of the real levels there are a lot of demons but few investigation scenes. The demons can be tricky.

Tightening the Noose
Stopped Abigail and saved Rex and Joy


This is the last thing in the game. You need to stop Abigail. This is on a timer, but it's really easy, since the time is really forgiving. Once the last battle is over you will get this trophy and you will have completed the game.

There is a total of 242 things to collect, spread over 10 different types. That is a lot of collectibles, and this should be the main focus of your playthrough. Most collectibles emanates a yellow glow (not to be confused with the orange glow that belongs to items you can use the poltergeist ability on). A lot of the collectibles requires you to reveal them first by pressing . You collect most items by pressing .
It is worth noting that the game saves every time you get a collectible, so you don't have to worry about having to obtain it again.

The game makes certain places unavailable after entering the last level The Judgement House, so make sure that you have everything before that. The collectible guide has a checklist for that. It's not all that bad if you miss one though. You don't have to get all of the collectibles in one run.

Each of the collectible types have their own trophy and you will get a description of each trophy if you go to that part of the guide. Here you will also find video guides for all of them.

Ronan's life is told through flash backs and memories. They are often in the form of fragments of people that you need to reveal with and then review with . There are only 7 of these in the whole game.

For some weird reason Ronan's wife Julia has left 38 notes lying around all scattered through Salem. This is one of the more numerous collectibles and it will take some time to get.

There are 39 fun facts to learn about the Bell Killer. These comes in form of notes, articles, inscriptions, and a lot of other things, so don't expect it to be consistent. They are everywhere with the exception of the church and the museum.

These come in form of plaques. They teach you about the history of the proud town Salem. There are 25 of them, pretty much everywhere (with the exception of the apartments).

Some walls have hidden messages you can reveal by pressing . There are 23 of them and these are by far the hardest ones to find since unlike the other collectibles they don't glow or give any sort of indication that they're there, except for the reveal prompt.

Discover Remove
Used Remove for the first time


Remove is one of the ghostly powers you have. Some apparitional obstacles (such as ghost walls or fences) gives you a prompt to press and if you do that they dissolve. While this is technically not story-related (since I don't think you are actually required to use it at any point), it would be weird not to get it at one point especially since you do it multiple times when hunting for collectibles.

Discover Reveal
Used Reveal for the first time


Reveal is pretty much the opposite of remove. You can fragments of unfinished memories and objects. If you get close to it you will be prompted to press . If you hunt for collectibles you will seriously do this over a hundred times, and you will also get this without hunting for collectibles.

Possess the Cat
Possessed the cat


Yes, you can possess cats. This will happen on the way to the church attic. A cutscene will play showing the cat. You just walk to it and press and BAM! Now you're a cat. Cats can walk and they can sprint if you hold down . If you sprint you can jump up certain obstacles, cross gaps, and climb some types of surfaces.

Mindreader
Used Mind Read for the first time


Mind read is technically not something you have to do, but everyone tries it, so it might as well be story-related. You just go up to a living person, press to possess them and then press to mind read them. Easy.

Poltergeist
Used Poltergeist for the first time


This will be mandatory to do. Poltergeist is something you can do to objects that glow an orange glow. Walk up to the object and press to inexplicably turn it on. You can get this trophy quite early in the game, but on your way to exit the church after having been to the attic, you will need to use it on a nearby hoover to get the pastor's attention.

Interrogator
Interrogated a ghost for the first time

Some certain ghosts gives you a "Question" prompt. You press and then ask them a question. There are not many places this happens. Two that spring into mind are the ghost in the church that are sitting on the bench to the back next to a living woman, and in the cemetery where there will be a ghost behind the first group of tour visitors.

Exorcist
Defeated a demon


Defeating demons requires stealth. You can hold down to see through walls and locate them. Then you need to sneak up behind them and hold down , then you get an QTE. This consists of holding the control stick in one direction and pressing one of the symbol buttons, and that will defeat the demon.

If the demon sees you, then you can use the nearby ghostly see-through hiding place, which you can teleport back and forth by pressing . You will have to do that until the demons give up. If the demons are looking at your hiding place you need to quickly change the hiding place or they will see you.

You will find the first demon on the second floor of the apartments building.

Investigator
Completed the first investigation


There are around 10-15 investigations in the game. You walk around the investigation scene and you pick up clues. There will be an indicator of many clues you have found and how many there are. You do not always need all of the clues to complete the investigation, but when available you will be able to end the investigation by pressing . The first investigation is right outside of the apartments after the first ten minutes of play.

Teleporter
Teleported for the first time


Teleport is the last ability to get unlocked. You will get when trying to catch Sophia in the cemetery. The game will instruct you how to do it. You press and hold and then you move the outline until it's blue. If it is orange you can not teleport there. You need a flat surface in a relatively close range. When you do that you will get this trophy.

The Missing Body
Helped Ingrid find peace


I am not really sure when these missions disappear, so just try and get them when you see them.

On the first floor of the apartments you will find a room being renovated. To the side you will find a ghost girl. You can press to help her. She does not know how or why she died. You need to help her by investigating the apartment of an old couple nearby. Here you will need to find five clues. You need to influence both the man and the woman with the murder of the girl for two clues, then examine the newspaper, the tools in the closet, and the note close to the door. Press and pick "Old Man's Secret" "Old Woman's Secret" and "Mysterious Murder" to solve it. Return to Ingrid and you get this trophy.

Amnesia
Helped Julie find peace


I am not really sure when these missions disappear, so just try and get them when you see them.

You will find a ghost in need for help on the beach close to the entrance to the church. She is near a picnic table. Talk to her and then you will need to find five clues. A picture, a memorial, a bouquet, a newspaper, and some candles. They are all easy to find. Once you got them press and choose the picture, the bouquet, and the newspaper to reach a conclusion. Talk to Julie to get this trophy.

Carnage
Helped Brad find peace


I am not really sure when these missions disappear, so just try and get them when you see them.

Brad is somewhere between the police station and the gas station, you will see him next to a crashed car. Talk to him to help him. There are two investigation to do here. Here there is a whiskey bottle, a receipt for the gas station, and a license plate. Now go to the gas station, and here you will find a memory of Brad, a memory of Laura, and a memory of Rick. Also a bit away from the station you will find a dented trash can and headlight pieces. Press and pick the three people. Next to the memory of Brad you will find a man trying to get inside a door. Possess him and then influence him and choose the "bang" option. Now go back to Brad and tell him everything.

Scorned
Helped Katy find peace


I am not really sure when these missions disappear, so just try and get them when you see them.

You will find Katy just outside of the entrance to the cemetery. Talk to help her. To help her possess both people in front of her and influence them with the "Broken-Hearted" option. Then press and pick the three options in this order: Broken-Hearted Ex-Girlfriend's Suicide A Shoulder To Cry On. Tell that to Katy and you will get the trophy.

Ghost Stories: A Watery Grave (1/7):
When first entering the apartment building walk through the entrance doors, and then just continue forward through the door at the end, and you will be in a room with a pool table. You can reveal a boiler in the corner of the room.

Info About My Killer (1/39):
Walk out of the room the same way you came in and take a left down the hallway. At the end there is a note hanging on the wall that you can examine.

Info About My Killer (2/39):
Continue down the hallway and there will be a newspaper you can investigate on a small table in the next corner.

Ghost Stories: A Watery Grave (2/7):
Go through the wall next to the newspaper, and you will be in a room being renovated. There is boiler close to you to be revealed.

Ghost Stories: A Watery Grave (3/7):
Locate the stairs to the next floor, but before going up reveal the boiler to the left of the stairs.

Ghost Girl's Messages (1/23):
Once you get up the stairs a cutscene will play out. Continue around the corner and the wall straight forward from where you are contains a message you can reveal.

Ghost Stories: A Watery Grave (4/7):
Turn to the right and go through the door, and then immediately turn to the right to see an unrevealed boiler in a closet.

Julia's Thoughts (1/38):
Get to the next floor. This will be a not on the floor in the middle of the hallway.

Ghost Girl's Messages (2/23):
Not far from here, on this floor, you will find a bedroom with two people in the bed. On the wall at the left hand side of the bed you will find these doodles.

Ghost Stories: A Watery Grave (5/7):
Go to the room opposite side of the hallway than the bedroom. In here you will find a living room/kitchen hybrid. In the corner is an unrevealed boiler.

Ghost Stories: A Watery Grave (6/7):
Take on the next flight of stairs to the fourth floor. Go through the crime scene and into the far corner of the hallway you will find another boiler.

Profiler's Memories (1/6):
Enter the room on the right and on the kitchen table, this small traveler's log should be there, which you can inspect.

Julia's Thoughts (2/38):
Connected to this room there is a mostly empty room (except for a few boxes and stuff). Next to the door on the floor is a piece of paper you can examine.

Ghost Stories: A Watery Grave (7/7):
Locate the apartments bathroom. In here you can find the last boiler to reveal.

As soon as you enter turn right and you will see a hand saw that you can reveal.

Go up the stairs to the right and you will see a wall you can't walk through. You can pass it by warping to the hiding spot behind it. Go to the end of the corridor to find this note on the floor.

Stay on the upper floor. Get to the organ, and to the side of it there is an plaque you can examine.

Continue through the nearby door to get to the top of the other stairs. Here there is a hand saw to reveal.

Salem's History (2/25):
Continue on the upper floor and there will be another wall you have to warp to a hiding spot to pass. Here there is a note to examine.

Get down to the main floor. From the entrance door go to the right of the church and there will be another saw in a gray spot on the floor.

Get to the other side of the room, and you will see a note on floor. It's glowing and should be easy to find.

Walk to the alter. Here you will see another note.

On the alter. You will see a floating piece of something in the air. You can reveal that to be you and Julia getting married.

Go through the alter and you will immediately see a saw to reveal.

Ghost Stories: The Bell Tower Banshee (5/11):
Go through the door to the right, here you will find another saw.

Ghost Stories: The Bell Tower Banshee (6/11):
Go left until you see the pastor. Possess the pastor until he passes the danger. Dispossess him, and a cutscene will play out, and you will automatically leave through a door. Go back through the door and go through the door at the end of the hallway, then go to the end of the hallway to find another saw.

Ghost Stories: The Bell Tower Banshee (7/11):
Go through the wall to the right and you will get to a kitchen. Then go through the wall to the right of the kitchen and you will be in another room filled with bookcases. In here there is another saw.

Ghost Stories: The Bell Tower Banshee (8/11):
Go through the big bookcase with the ladder in front of it. Immediately on the other side of the wall you will see another saw.

Salem's History (3/25):
In this room turn around the corner and there will be another plaque to examine.

Ghost Stories: The Bell Tower Banshee (9/11):
Get back to the kitchen, but this time go through the opposite wall into a small room with this saw.

Ghost Stories: The Bell Tower Banshee (10/11):
Go through the door in this room, and then just continue forward through the kitchen and through the hallway, and you will end in a storage room. In here there is a saw.

Ghost Girl's Messages (3/23):
Go through the wall to the left of the entrance, and you will be in a small bathroom. The message is right next to the bath tub.

Ghost Stories: The Bell Tower Banshee (11/11):
Possess the cat, and get to the witness. Once there go through the wall to the opposite side of where you came in. In here is the last saw.

Ghost Girl's Messages (4/23):
There is a room adjacent to this room that is not the room with the witness. This message is on one of the walls. It's hard to explain exactly where since the room is mostly empty and pretty dark.

When you enter the police station, you will automatically be transported to the war room. Go back to the entrance and you will see parts of humans to be revealed. Reveal and examine them for this.

Do a 180 and enter the narrow room behind the counter. Immediately to your right there will be a rifle to reveal.

Continue down this room and you will see a note on the counter to the left.

Get to the war room, but don't enter yet. Turn with the hallway and you will be able to see the glow from a note on the wall in front of you.

Ghost Stories: The Stalwart Spectre (2/8):
Go through the wall right in front of you, and you will get to a restroom. Enter the rightmost stall for another rifle.

Go through the wall opposite of the trashcan. Go through the next restroom and you will get to a room with a desk. Examine the newspaper on the desk.

Go through two more walls in the same direction and you will get to a room with another newspaper to examine.

Salem's History (5/25):
Go through the door in this room, and turn right to see another plaque to examine.

Turn left and you will see a doorway. Go through it and at the end of the small hallway you will see another newspaper to examine.

Turn left and go through the doors into the interrogation rooms. Get into the first room on the left and examine the note on the table.

Go into the second room on the right and search the back wall for this message.

This rifle is at the end of the interrogation room hallway, next to a chair.

Salem's History (6/25):
Get back to the previous hallway and continue through the prison bars and you will see this plaque to your left.

Exit the room, go down the nearby hallway and go up the double flight of stairs. Now, next to some tables and chairs there should be some fragments of some people. Reveal and examine them.

After learning how to teleport look directly down. Here you will see another note. Drop down or teleport to it.

Get back to where you were before dropping down. Teleport across the room, then turn right and teleport over the gap, then teleport through the obstacles. Turn right and then teleport over the gap. Turn left and teleport over that gap. The note should be on this platform.

Continue your way around the main room. You will eventually see some doors to your left. Remember their location but skip them for now. Instead go through the door in front of you. To avoid the hands on the left go straight through the exhibition in front of you.

If you turn right you will be able to see this rock. You need to go through the walls and exhibitions to get to it.

Go all the way back to the top of the ramp to the beach, but keep walking forward and then turn left. There will be a boat turned upside down suspended by some planks. Face the boat, and then use the hiding spot on the other side to teleport past it. To your right you will find a note on the floor.

If you go to the back wall of this enclosed area you will find this message.

Get out of the enclosed area and continue walking down the path. You will get behind a big boat. Here you will be able to see a wooden fence. Go through it and at the back of this small alley you will find another message.

Continue around the big boat and through the chain link fence. Here you will see two cops. Possess one of them and use the eavesdrop option to get this.

You can continue by walking through a narrow alleyway nearby, when you get to the other side go through the other alleyway at the other side of the street. Get down and dispossess the cat. Run out of the alley and pass the white van again. Right before some dumpsters, you can turn to the left and see a narrow alley blocked by some bins. Walk through the bins and at the end of the alley you will find this last message.

Now walk up the other set of stairs and right before going in to the hallway to the left, there will be an inscription on the wall to examine.

Julia's Thoughts (35/38):
Go past the opening to the hallway and at the corner of the room turn left and into the wall. This note will be to your left in this small narrow room.

Info About My Killer (36/39):
Enter the hallway and make an immediate left. Go down the side hallway through the door and you will see another inscription.

Ghost Stories: Ashes to Ashes (2/11):
Go further down the hallway and into the next door on the left. In here you will be able to see the book in a closet.

Ghost Stories: Ashes to Ashes (3/11):
Go out of the door, and teleport through the hole on the other side of the hallway. This book will be on a table.

Ghost Stories: Ashes to Ashes (4/11):
Teleport through the hole to the left, and walk through the door straight ahead. Turn left and go near the door next to the door that leads back to the hallway. You can use your remove ability on it. Do that, and go through and you will see the book to your left.

Info About My Killer (38/39):
You will find this inscription at the end of the hallway to the right.

Info About My Killer (39/39):
This inscription is in the room next to the last inscription, on the back wall.

Profiler's Memories (6/6):
After the first investigation, you will automatically be transported to this room. This log is on the floor here.

Ghost Stories: Ashes to Ashes (5/11):
Go out through the door to the hallway and then go left (there are demons so be careful). Then go in the next door to the left. There is a bathtub in this room. Go through the wall on the opposite side of the room than the bathtub. In here you will find a book.

Ghost Stories: Ashes to Ashes (6/11):
Go through the door again and then go through the wall on the opposite side of the hallway, then make an immediate right, to get into a closet. In here you will find a book to the left.

Julia's Thoughts (36/38):
Get to the end of the hallway to find this note.

Ghost Stories: Ashes to Ashes (7/11):
Go through the wall to the left. You will find this book behind the crow.

Ghost Stories: Ashes to Ashes (8/11):
Go down the stairs and then immediately go through the wall next to the stairs to find this.

Ghost Stories: Ashes to Ashes (9/11):
Go through the door, and then go through the door to the right of you. The book is in here.

Salem's History (23/25):
Walk out of this small room and you will find this next to one of the long tables.

Julia's Thoughts (37/38):
Look to the left to find a doorway. Go through it and then go through the door to the left. To the left of this room you will see a hole in the wall. Teleport through it to find this.

Witch Trials History (9/9):
Continue until you face more demons. Defeat them then return to the big room. This book is on a table in the middle of the room.

Salem's History (24/25):
This plaque is in the same room on a wall not far away.

Julia's Thoughts (38/38):
Get to the end of the hallway that you can access from the big room. Look to the left and you will see a hole in the wall. Teleport through it and you will find the last note.

Ghost Stories: Ashes to Ashes (10/11):
Locate the stairs to the basement. Before going down though go through the door to the left. The immediately go through the wall to the right. Here you will find another book.

Salem's History (25/25):
This one is in the wine cellar in the basement. It will be right next to the next door. Hard to miss.

Ghost Stories: Ashes to Ashes (11/11):
The last book and the last thing to collect in this game is at the second investigation. Go through the small wooden wall part next to the cage. It's in there.
