[top]Tips & Strategies

1) You can and should check your progress through story mode by going back to the SkyForce Barracks and examining your Flight Log. When you’re there, hit to look at your accomplishments and story mode completion percentage.

2) You will need to earn a gold medal on every mission at some point. You can replay missions instantly in-game after you complete them. Or, you can replay missions later on if you need to go back and earn prettier medals on them. Use your Flight Log back at SkyForce Barracks. Cleaning up later would be easier since you can fully-upgrade your plane.

3) I haven’t found a way to turn off character speech, other than to mute the whole system. Sorry ☹. The good news is, the script gets to be pretty funny as you progress.

4) Story mode trophies pop later than you’d expect them to. If you’ve just finished a mission, the trophy won’t unlock. After you view the rewards screen and ‘accept’, you’ll notice the game autosaving. That’s when your trophy will pop.

5) This game can be extremely frustrating as the AI cheats. If you’re winning in a race or dogfight, it doesn’t really mean anything. You can get passed/killed within seconds of the finish. Try to stay relaxed. Don’t break anything.

6) If you’re struggling, go to the Hangar to see if you have any upgrades or new perks available with which you can “Tune” your aircraft to gain a slight advantage.

Below are some tips/notes for Racing, Dogfighting, and Quick Play

[top]Roadmap

Step 1: Play through story mode. Do not worry about earning gold medals on all missions, unless you really want to. The missions may be tricky at first since a) you’re learning how the game works and b) you have a basic-level plane. After you finish story mode you’ll have an excellent plane and you can go back and replay missions. You’ll have an easier time earning gold medals with better planes.

Step 2: Go back and finish earning all 43 gold medals. Some of the missions will be tough, even with a fully-upgraded aircraft and your three favorite powerups equipped. As you spend more time practicing the tough levels, your skills will improve and there will be more opportunities for you to get lucky and finish in first place. You can get ahead of the game if you start mopping up your various kills trophies in conjunction with earning the last few golds.

Step 3: Mop up using customized Quick Play events. You can set up super long Quick Play events with lots of opponents, all set to “Very Easy”, choose your arena, and more. Just pick the best set of conditions for farming the trophies you have left over.

[top]
General of the Skyheroes
Earn a gold medal in 100% of all story missions.

This can be pretty tough. All missions were not created equal. Some are laughably easy while others may drive you nuts. Make sure you have a fully-upgraded (level 3) aircraft, your favorite perks “tuned” up, and a little patience for this one. This is the only challenging trophy in the game. You can run through a event and lose by a mile, and turn right around and win by a mile next time, so there's a bit of luck involved. See the tips at the top for some advice.

[top]
Customizer
Unlock all customization parts in story mode.

Finishing missions in first, second, or third place nets you different unlockable customization parts, including Style Parts, Upgrade Parts, Tuning Parts, and Logos. If you finish in first, you also unlock the parts for second and third place. You need to get a gold medal on every mission to unlock every part.

[top]
If You Build It, You Can Play It
Assemble 5 planes in story mode where all parts are from the same aircraft type.

This trophy can probably be earned whenever you like. Use the “All” customize option to save time. You do not need to use the same tuning perks or SIMs for all five planes.

[top]
Big Trouble in Little City
Complete story mission ‘Death From Above’.

Story related and cannot be missed. Complete the mission with at least a bronze medal to earn this trophy. If you don’t place, you’ll have to do it over again. If you see your time is up and you can’t medal, just hit pause and restart. This is a three-part mission and you must finish all parts in less than 2:10 to earn the gold medal. You need to finish in less than 4:10 for the bronze, so restart if you’re past that time.

[top]
Ragnarok - OFFLINE
Complete story mission ‘Rock The Ragnarok’.

Story related and cannot be missed. Complete the mission with at least a bronze medal to earn this trophy. If you don’t place, you’ll have to do it over again. If you see your time is up and you can’t medal, just hit pause and restart. This is a three-part mission and you must finish all parts in less than 3:10 to earn the gold medal. You need to finish in less than 5:10 for the bronze, so restart if you’re past that time. This was one of the easier ones. Just shoot the five generators then attack the core’s weak spot, then the core itself.

[top]
Shaken AND Stirred
Complete story mission ‘All Your Base…’.

Story related and cannot be missed. Complete the mission with at least a bronze medal to earn this trophy. If you don’t place, you’ll have to do it over again. If you see your time is up and you can’t medal, just hit pause and restart. You must take down the Ragnarok (again!) in less than 3:40 to earn the gold medal. You need to finish in less than 5:40 for the bronze, so restart if you’re past that time. This was one of the easier ones. Take out the Ragnarok as best you can, then destroy the shield generator on the ship. Then finish taking out the Ragnarok. Note that he is more susceptible to missiles while he’s using his F-Beam.

[top]
I AM Big, The Planes Got Small
Complete story mission ‘Mega Shark VS…YOU!’.

Story related and cannot be missed. Complete this mission with at least a bronze medal to earn this trophy. If you don’t place, you’ll have to do it over again. If you see your time is up and you can’t medal, just hit pause and restart. You must destroy 8 mounted guns, Dagomir and Svetlana in the first part, fly into the ship to blow up the computer, fly into the ship to blow up the main reactor, and defeat Morcubus within 9:45 seconds for gold, 12:45 for bronze. You need to work pretty fast, but it’s not too difficult. Some of the dogfight missions were much more difficult by comparison.

[top]
Speedy Takedowns
Takedown 3 players in 10 seconds or less.

This trophy will probably pop during natural gaming. The best weapon for this is the Orbital Strike. With it you can take down 1, 2, 3, 4, or even 5 enemies in rapid succession, if you’re lucky. If you don’t have this before you have gold in all missions, you can set up a customized Quick Play event and farm it. With 9 computer AIs set to Very Easy and Powerups set to "x2", you can even get 7+ takedowns all at once.

[top]
0wn3d
Score 5 takedowns in a row without getting taken down yourself.

This trophy will probably pop during natural gaming. The best weapon for this is the Orbital Strike. Recall that you can shoot enemies and destructibles for health if you need it. If you don’t have this before you have gold in all missions, you can set up a customized Quick Play event and farm it. With 9 computer AIs set to Very Easy and Powerups set to "x2", you can even get 7+ takedowns all at once.

[top]
Takedown Master
Score at least 12 takedowns in a single dogfight.

This trophy will probably pop during natural gaming. If not, you can set up a customized Quick Play dogfight and farm it. Set the "Ending Condition" to "Points" and the "Ending Value" to "10000". That will last you about 15 minutes. You will easily have 75+ takedowns in that time.

[top]
You Ain't Got Nothin' On Me
Complete a race or dogfight in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place without getting taken down once.

This trophy will probably pop during natural gaming. You can use shield powerups if you need to. Shooting and defeating opponents releases health, so follow your trajectory while nailing an enemy to recover some health. Destroying objects also releases health.

[top]
Resilient
Go from being below 10% health to 100% health without getting taken down.

This trophy might pop during natural gaming. If not, set up a customized Quick Play event and farm it. Use two controllers: nearly kill player 1, then run around with player 1 until your health is full again. Ding.

[top]
I Got ALL The Weapons I Need
All at once, have active ‘Shield’, ‘Twin Options’, and ‘F-Beam’ powerups.

These are pretty common pickups, so all levels are sure to have them somewhere. While working towards General Of The SkyHeroes you’ll likely become familiar enough with one or more maps that you can knock this out easy. If not, practice a map until you know where each of these is. Turn on your perks that increase Shield, Twin Options, and F-Beam lifespans if you need to. There is a spot in the Lost Temple map where all three are basically in a row: Shield, then F-Beam, then Twin Options.

[top]
You ARE Talented
Play at least 1 mission with every perk.

There are 15 perks in total. You can combine this with If You Build It, You Can Fly It if you like. Later in the game you can have three perks “tuned” up at the same time, so just put the first three on the first plane, the second three on the second plane, and so on. Then play one mission with each plane. “1.23 Jigawatts Required” is a two-minute race you could re-play. Ding.

[top]
Lemming Award
Crash your plane.

This trophy will pop during natural gaming. Note that crashing is not the same thing as getting taken out by an opponent. You can crash into explosive objects (other than mines) or fly through fire to take yourself out if you need to work on your lemming skills.

[top]
I'm Fine, But Dizzy
Spend 20 minutes power turning.

This trophy will pop during natural gaming. If you really need/want to farm it, just hold while doing everything.

[top]
I Feel the Need For Speed!
Spend 10 minutes at super boost speed.

This trophy will pop during natural gaming. Going through green/red gates gets you to super boost speed. There is also a super-boost pickup you can use, and later in the game you’ll receive a boost-enhancing perk you can use to increase the time you are at top speed after using a portable boost pickup.

[top]
It's My First - Race
Earn a 1st place finish in a race.

This trophy will pop during natural gaming. Track your progress in races by watching your rank in the upper-right corner of your screen. Finish in first place in any race to unlock this trophy.

[top]
It's My First - Dogfight
Earn a 1st place finish in a dogfight.

This trophy will pop during natural gaming. Track your progress in dogfights by watching the numbers in the upper-right corner of your screen. If you’re in the green, you’re in first place by that many points. If you’re in the red, you’re out of first place by that many points. Note that the number in red is NOT the number of points you are behind the guy ranked just ahead of you—it’s the number of points you are from the guy in first place. Finish in the green for this trophy.

[top]
Stunt(ed) Growth
Perform a total of 500 air stunts.

This trophy will pop during natural gaming. “Stunt” sounds fancy, but it just means barrel-rolling left or right or looping to avoid incoming missiles (or because it’s fun). Press the right stick up, down, left, or right to do a stunt.

[top]
Dodgy
Dodge a total of 500 missiles.

This trophy will pop during natural gaming. When you see the red indicator on the left side of your screen telling you you have incoming, time it right and get out of the way using one of the four “stunt” moves. Your own survival instinct will net you this trophy.

[top]
Property Damage
Destroy a total of 1000 breakables.

This trophy will pop during natural gaming. Breakables are objects in the environment that you can a) get health from, b) kill your enemies with (by shooting the explosive ones when your opponents are close), or c) crash your plane with if you’re not careful (or if you’re working on your lemmings technique). You’ll hit them inadvertently and on purpose…a lot.

This trophy will pop during natural gaming. Your machine gun is one of your two main weapons. Fire the machine gun by pressing or , whichever you prefer. Twin Options Master
Earn 50 takedowns using the ‘Twin Options’ powerup.

This trophy might not pop during natural gaming. The Twin Options powerup can be found in every level. To fire it, pick it up, press to equip it, and press or to fire. Note that, while you have this powerup equipped, your machine gun will not overheat. So just hold that trigger down until the powerup wears off. Defeat 50 opponents with the Twin Options powerup to earn this trophy. Apply Summon-Bot perk if you like, it makes your Twin Options powerups last longer. If you need to, you can set up a customized Quick Play event to farm this trophy.

[top]

[top]
Mines Master
Earn 50 takedowns using the ‘Mines’ powerup.

This trophy might not pop during natural gaming. The Mines powerup can be found in every level. To fire it, pick it up and press to drop it where you are (kinda like a bomb in Mario Kart). You can’t shoot it out in front of you. You only get one mine with each pickup. Defeat 50 opponents with the Mines poweup to earn this trophy. Apply the Thermal Amp perk if you like, it increases the damage dealt by your Mines powerups. If you need to, you can set up a customized Quick Play event to farm this trophy.

[top]
Explosive Device Master
Earn 25 takedowns from damage caused by destroying explosive breakables.

This trophy can be a little tricky. You have to takedown an opponent with the explosion from environmental objects (bombs). They are usually red, and sometimes in groups. This trophy may be more easily obtained with two live players (you can even boost online, if you want), but the video below illustrates my method for earning this trophy on your own, with two controllers. The video is my own.

[top]
Supernova Defense Master
Destroy 50 locked-on missiles using the ‘Supernova’ powerup .

This trophy might take a little farming. The Supernova powerup can be used for both offense and defense. Pick one up and hold on to it until you see you have income missiles. Wait a second or two and then detonate your supernova. This should destroy the income missile. Repeat until the trophy pops. This may be easier if you can find a boosting partner. Or, you can replay race missions. Just pick up the Supernova powerup and pull in front of an opponent. Wait for them to fire a missile at you and take it out with your Supernova.
