Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Trophy Guide

OK, first of all I want to say that I really enjoyed creating this guide since this is one of my favourite games this year. Now I have been playing a lot of NFS, and in that time I picked up some neat tips and tricks which I will share with you guys (look below this text). I really hope this will make some things easier for you guys, or at least that you have a bit more fun.

Need For Speed; Hot Pursuit, how to?

Drifting - First of all drifting earns you Nitrous, second it will make tight turns much easier to take, and third it just looks cool. Though because it looks cool to drift a lot of people make a huge mistake while driving online (at least when the play against me), they drift in almost every corner on a track. Like I said it does look cool, but in a soft corner it's better to just steer light so you keep your top speed, instead of drifting and slowing down like 60 km/h.
Short cuts - There are a lot of short cuts on the tracks in NFS. Now I always suggest you take a short cut cause well most of the time they save you a second or two, unless your not familiar with that particular short cut then it will only cost you time. You should also watch out for the short cuts which aren't short cuts at all, there are not a lot of them but some “short cuts” will take a longer route then the normal road does.
Explore Short cuts - Yup, this sounds weird I know, but almost every short cut has more then one route to take so explore those ones to make sure you always take the fastest route in and out of the short cut. This Is very important because it could mean the difference between a Gold, or a Silver Medal.
Nitrous - Nitrous is earned by drifting, driving on the wrong side of the road, and almost hitting another car, though when you are a Enforcer you will also earn Nitrous while driving really fast, though near misses don't count any more. I also suggest you only use your hard earned Nitrous on good moments. What I mean by that is, it is just stupid to use Nitrous while approaching a corner since you have to slow down to take it. It's much better if you use it while coming out of the corner, or on a straight piece of road.
Weapons - I suggest you never ever use all your weapons at the start of the race, sure it's nice to spike strip other racers and the cops, but they will come back. I suggest you try to even out the usage of weapons in a race, try to only use your Jammer when you really need to, like when your targeted with an EMP, or when you really can't dodge that Spike Strip.
Weapons #2 You don't always have to use a weapon to counter an attack from another racer or a cop. While playing In the single player career as a Racer I noticed that the cops will only fire an EMP when you are close to a short cut, or when the road splits into two divided by a wall or other stuff. Now you could always use a Spike Strip, or use your Jammer, but if you take that short cut or switch lanes, his EMP will miss, and you still have all your weapons left.
Weapons #3 I found a very useful way to use the Jammer as a Racer in the Interceptor mode online. When ever you approach a large short cut and you are in it, and the cop player isn't, then use your Jammer now. Turn around, and take the same road back how you came there, since the radar of the cop player is jammed he will not see you turn around, when he does though, its already to late and you escaped.

[step #1] When you start the game up, I suggest doing both of the career modes first. Learn the tracks, explore the short cuts, and get good at driving dangerously. While go through both the Racer, and Enforcer career I suggest you always try to earn gold, If you don't no problem that is what step #2 is for.
[step #2] Once you have completed both of the career's you should be a pretty good driver, you should now go back to any track on both sides of the career mode where you have not earned a gold medal or distinction. Once you have gold, and a distinction in every track, you ready to start step #3.
[step #3] All the offline stuff is now done, all you need now is to level up both of you ranks. You can do this both online or offline, I how ever suggest the online mode since it is a lot of fun to race against randoms or friends. Just keep racing until you reach rank 20 with both the Racer, and Enforcer, and watch your unlock. You could also use this boosting method to reach rank 20 very quickly, look below on how-to do that.

Start a private match with your Friend.
Start up the Interceptor Mode
You will start out as a cop, and your Friend as a Racer
Your Friend will stop at the start of the race and, you will stop behind/next to him so you can bust him.
The next round, You will be a racer, turn around and drive the opposite way as your Friend so you escape and the match ends.
Now switch sides and let your Friend win.
Rinse and Repeat so you both level up quickly

You can also just re-play any of the career mode races, if you decide to this I suggest you pick the following series.

Hyper Events, as a Racer.
Special Response Unit Hot Pursuit Events as a Enforcer.

Settling the Score
Select a Friend Autolog Recommendation and beat it

This trophy requires you to select a friends recommendation and beat it. This trophy is really easy to earn all you need to do is win a few races as a Cop, or as a Racer, I do suggest you drive a bit slow. When you did that you need to find a friend who raced the same tracks as you, now if you did what I suggested your friend should have better times then you. Now from the Main Menu, go to Autolog Recommends, once there you should see your friends name with Challenge above it, beat his time and your earn this trophy.

Graffiti
Create a ‘New Post’ or ‘Write a Reply’ on the Wall

This trophy requires you to create a new post or write a reply on the Wall. OK, this trophy is really simple to earn. If you have friends playing this game you should have some messages on your Wall already. When your friends bested your fastest time on a track, or when they created a picture, a message will Appear on your “Wall”. The Wall is the second option from the Main menu, once in there press

to create a new message, post it and the trophy will pop. You can also expand a message from a friend by pressing

, press

again to write a reply, both ways will earn you the trophy.

Share the Dream
Share a Dreamshot to the Wall

This trophy requires you to share a dreamshot (photo) to the Wall. This trophy is also a easy one to earn, once you are on a track press

you will hear a camera sound, this just means that the photo has been taken. Now quit out of the race, and go to the Main Menu. Once there choose Photos, if you have multiple snap shots pick one and press

to upload it to your Wall, and earn you this trophy.

Socialite
Have 5 or more NFS Friends

This trophy requires you to have 5 or more Need For Speed friends. Really simple, just ask people from here to add you, once you have 5 people who play NFS on your list, this trophy will pop.

Gotcha!
Bust a Racer

This trophy requires you to bust a Racer. Now this trophy can be earned in both single, and multi player. If you want to do it by your self just play the Cop single player campaign and you will have the change to bust multiple Racers. Like I said you can also do it with your friends, all you have to do is start a private room, and play Hot Pursuit mode, if you bust the Racer (your friend) you will earn this trophy. Now to bust a Racer you have to do the following:

Damage his car, until he has no more health left.
EMP / Spike strip him and force him to stop!
Ask your friend to just stop so you can bust him, though that won't be any fun, trust me. D:

Ultimate Enforcer
Reach rank (20) Ultimate Enforcer as a Cop

This trophy requires you to reach rank (20) Ultimate Enforcer. Now this trophy will take you a while to earn, after completing the single player career you are around rank 12/15, depends on how much you played online. When the single player career is finished, you should go and play some online matches. Since you have practised the tracks in single player you should do good online, just try to win as much matches as you can and you should reach rank 20 very quickly. You can also re-play any race in Career Mode if you want to earn more Bounty, though this could get boring real quick. If you do decide to re-play any track then do the Special Response Unit Hot Pursuit Events, they give out the most Bounty. Now there is another faster way you can earn this trophy, and that is by boosting.

Here is an online boosting method I found online, how ever I changed and added stuff to make it easier to understand.

Start a private match with your Friend.
Start up the Interceptor Mode

True Blue
Earn a Distinction in every single-player Cop mission

This trophy requires you to earn a Distinction in every single-player Cop mission . Now this could be one of the hardest trophies in this game. There are 48 Cop Events which you all have to get a Distinction on, now there are some ways of making things easier on your self.

Nitrous. As a cop you earn it the same way as a Racer by drifting, and driving dangerously, but there is one exception. Cops can also earn Nitrous by just driving real fast. So I suggest you try to always keep a good speed so you earn nitrous non stop.
Know when to use Nitrous, if your going downhill don't use it, cause you will be going fast enough. If your coming out of corner, or on long straight piece of road use your hard earned Nitrous.
Learn the short cuts, by that I mean not all short cuts are really shorter, learn which ones are cause they will save you a lot of time.
Explore short cuts. While driving in a short cut you must have noticed that you can sometimes take more then one way, explore those, see which way is the fastest line through that specific short cut.
Drifting, this is really fun to do, and it is a fast way to take corners. Now do keep in mind that some corners only need some light steering, if you drift here you will only lose speed.
Never, I repeat Never use all your weapons at the start of a race, especially not if the race is 20km long. When the race starts try to knock out your opponent by brute force. Yes I said it, Hit them hard. As a Cop your not here to win a Race, but to stop it!

If you follow these guidelines you will have no problem getting a Distinction in every Event, though you probably have to restart some a few times but if you keep at it this trophy will be yours!

Chase
Play 10 Online Hot Pursuits as a Cop

This trophy requires you to play 10 online Hot Pursuits as a Cop, this is also an easy trophy to earn. From the Main Menu go to Hot Pursuit Online, from there choose Quick Match, then Hot Pursuit. Choose in what type of car you want to race in, after that you will be put in a room with other people. Choose to be on the Cop side and have fun, repeat this 9 more times and the trophy is yours. It's also possible to earn this trophy while playing with friends. Instead of starting a Quick Match, choose create a Friends Game, and invite them

Bounty Hunter
Play 10 Online Interceptors as a Cop

This trophy requires you to play 10 online Interceptors as a Cop, this is also an easy trophy to earn. From the Main Menu go to Hot Pursuit Online, from there choose Quick Match, then Interceptor. Choose in what type of car you want to race in, after that you will be put in a room with other people. Choose to be on the Cop side and have fun, repeat this 9 more times and the trophy is yours. It's also possible to earn this trophy while playing with friends. Instead of starting a Quick Match, choose create a Friends Game, and invite them.

Vengeance is Mine
Wreck a Cop

This trophy requires you to wreck a Cop. This trophy like Gotcha!

can be earned in both single, and multi player. If you want to do it alone play the Racer campaign, once your raced a few tracks you will be placed in a Hot Pursuit race, now instead of winning the race focus on damaging the car with yours. If you want to do it in multi player, just play some Hot Pursuit races with friends, and make sure you take them out before they take you out. The only way to “wreck” a Cop is by damaging his car.
