[top]Introduction

The West has waited a LONG time for a great JRPG and we have finally received it. Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is developed by the critically acclaimed studio, Level 5, you may remember from games like Dark Cloud, Professor Layton, White Knight Chronicles and Dragon Quest Vlll. The animations are story were done by hugely famous Studio Ghibli which really doesn't need much of an introduction. This game is massive and full of charm. These two studios should be commended for what they have created.

The story follows a boy named Oliver that has a terrible tragedy happen to him in the "real" world. After being visited by somebody from the other world, Oliver agrees to travel to the other world so he can fix what has happened in his world. This adventure is charming, funny and exciting as you will be traveling to drastically different towns, fighting giant creatures and mending broken hearts all on a quest to kill Shadar himself and save both worlds.

[top]Roadmap

1. Complete the game

Ni No Kuni is an astounding game that I recommend to experience first. Along the way it would be a good idea to do every errand and bounty hunt. These will give you attributes and items that can help you out later in the game, so it is a good idea to do them anyway. You should also focus on collecting any familiars that you happen to subdue. Even if they are doubles, collect them. Also focus on switching out familiars to level them up and metamorphose them.

Once you have completed the story you will have at least…….
· Out of this World
· En Guardian!
· Anchors Aweigh
· Fly the Friendlier Skies
· Wonder Wand
· A Tonic for the Djinn
· Council Trouncer
And you will have a couple other simple ones as well
2. Errands and Bounty Hunts

Hopefully by now you have finished the majority of the side quests while going through the main quest. Once you complete the game several more side quests will open up for you to attempt. Some of these are going to be extremely challenging (especially the bounty hunts), but with patience and good familiars it is doable. Refer to Super Hero for a complete guide on all of the errands and bounty hunts.

After completing this step you will have…….
· Boy Scout
· Humanitarian of the Year
· New Sheriff in Town
· Bounty Hunter
· Super Hero
3. Collect Alchemy Ingredients, Familiars, and Treasure Chests
This is going to be the collecting phase of the game. Luckily with your trusty dragon, Tengri this won’t be the most challenging thing in the world. As you are travelling, collecting ingredients and treasure chests, focus on collecting any other familiars that you need and continue to metamorphose them constantly. Refer to Mad Scientist , Familiarologist and Treasure Hunter for the locations of everything.

After completing this step you will have……

· Pop Pop Fizz Fizz
· Mad Scientist
· Viva the Evolution!
· Familiarizer
· Familiarologist
· Treasure Hunter
4. The Solloseum
By now your party should be plenty strong enough to attempt the Solloseum Series. These are a series of extremely difficult challenges that grant some fantastic rewards. Complete every battle in every rank.

After completing this step you will have…….

· Solloseum Slugger
· Solloseum Supremo
5. The Casino
Hopefully by now you are one rich bastard and can now go to the casino with pockets filled to the brim. Go buy a load of tokens, play some games and win some tickets to claim some prizes. Refer to High Roller for tips and exploits.

After completing this step you will have…….

· Raising the Stakes
· High Roller
6. Clean Up
Okay congratulations you have made it this far and now everything challenging is out of the way. By now you should have basically everything. There may be a couple areas you have missed or something little like that, but you are pretty much done. Just go clean up whatever you have left and the long journey to this platinum is over.

[top]Trophies

[top]

Wizardry Whiz
Awarded for becoming a master magician. Congratulations! You truly are a whiz at wizardry!

Ta, There's beautiful! Youoer skills are magnificent and you've gotten all of the flipping trophies! Tidy good job, mun!

[top]

Out of this World
Awarded for casting Gateway and traveling to another world.

This is a story related trophy and cannot be missed.

After Mr. Drippy teaches you the Gateway spell and you cast it in the middle of the town square the trophy will pop.

[top]

En Guardian!
Awarded for defeating the Guardian of the Woods and bringing him back to his senses.

This is a story related trophy and cannot be missed.

Once you reach the very end of the Deep Dark Woods you will have a boss fight against a guardian. The boss can be beaten with ease. Once it is the trophy will come up.

[top]

Anchors Aweigh
Awarded for obtaining the Sea Cow.

This is a story related trophy and cannot be missed.

After you have stopped Shadar's plan to cause the volcano to erupt you must now over to Castaway Cove where you can find a boat. The pirate will tell you that you need a letter of passage from the Cowlipha in Al Mamoon. Once you get this letter of passage and return to the ship the trophy will be yours.

[top]

Fly the Friendlier Skies
Awarded for befriending Tengri.

This is a story related trophy and cannot be missed.

At some point way longer into the game (you'll have to fight Shadar, get shipwrecked, get swallowed by a giant fairy, fight a jellyfish, get to Hamelin, go back in time and fight a big candlestick to get there) you'll come to a point where you are going to find a pirate to retrieve a map. After a fight with a dragon, you'll need to back to Oliver's world to find Tengri's soulmate and defeat his nightmare and give hims some confidence. After that you can now use Tengri to fly over the whole map and land almost anywhere.

[top]

Wonder Wand
Awarded for restoring the legendary wand Mornstar to its former glory.

This is a story related trophy and cannot be missed.

There are three stones to get.
1. In the vault of tears after defeating an evil snake.
2. On a ghost ship after defeating the captain.
3. In an ice cave after defeating a guardian wolf.

I'll recommend doing it in that order, since the last one definitely is the hardest of the three.

After that you need to save the high sage Khulan by defeating her nightmare and give her some love. A few cutscenes later... and *ping*.

[top]

A Tonic for the Djinn
Awarded for defeating the Dark Djinn.

This is a story related trophy and cannot be missed.

At some point you're going to face Shadar in Nevermore. Shadar is not an easy boss and he has three phases. The first one is basically the same one as you faced on the boat. Just remember to alternate between defense and offense, especially when he is doing some of his powerful attacks. The next phase you will be battling his familiar. This knight is very melee based and can pack a punch, so I suggest you don't get too close to him, and you take him out from afar. The last phase has one really devastating attack, but other than that most of the moves are very heavily paragrafed.

[top]

Council Trouncer
Awarded for freeing the other world from the clutches of the Zodiarchy.

This is a story related trophy and cannot be missed.

Last level, last boss. The first two phases (because it is of course a three phased boss). The two first are pretty easy, with only a few notable attacks. The last form however can be very tricky. You now have an extra person in battle with you. This person cannot die and can sometimes nix the boss giving a chance time. The small satellites can be a pain though but eradicating them will just cause more to spawn so focus on the big boss. After the boss is defeated the trophy is acquired and the game has come to an end..... or has it?!?

[top]

King of the World
Awarded for defeating the Guardian of Worlds.

This is a story related trophy and cannot be missed.... kinda.

After the game you can start a post-game that sends you back to before you faced the white witch. Now a small cave south of Ding Dong Dell behind a small forest with trees with golden leaves is open. You can go through it and end up in a forest glade, where a... rather creepy looking bunny faced man is standing. Now starts a pretty cool quest. After talking to him return to a swift solutions to receive a good deal of bounties. These bounties all leads to areas where you have defeated a boss... that's because you now are going on a boss rush, where you have to defeat stronger versions of the boss' you've already faced. First clear the first few bosses, and claim the bounties. After that talk to bunny to have more bounties appear in swift solutions. Claim all those and return to the bunny to get another bounty in swift solution, clear that and then you get yet another. Clear that talk to the bunny to finally being able to go through the door behind him. Here is the Guardian of Worlds. By this time you're probably already in level 75+ and he really should not cause any problems, and he only has one phase. Defeat him and get the trophy and another secret reward.

[top]

Guildering the Lily
Awarded for amassing a fortune of half a million guilders.

Guilders is the currency in the game. You need to have acquired 500000 of them. This is NOT cumulative, and you will probably first get it post-game, when you're grinding familiars and alchemy ingredients. Also remember to use them once you have them, and you can come a far way with them.

[top]

Man of Steal
Awarded for successfully stealing 50 times.

For this you need to have Swaine in your party. You get him at some point in Castaway Cove. When he is in your party he has already one trickshot, "Mugshot". This trickshot allows Swaine to steal from the enemies... maybe. Sometimes it doesn't work and sometimes the enemy doesn't have anything. If you remember to do this every once in a while you can get this fairly early on.

[top]

Glim Reaper
Awarded for gathering 2,000 glims.

Sometimes when you hit an enemy either a green, blue or gold orb appears. If you walk into them they do something. Green heals you, the blue gives you MP and the gold makes you do your Miracle Move which is a heavy hitting move that's different from each character (you can check yours by going into the Familiar and Friends menu, highlight the friend or familiar press then ). Getting 2,000 of these will take a bit of time, but you should get while going for all of the other trophies. After clearing the first line of merit awards, you can get a merit award for 3 stamp cards that allows you to pick up any missing Glims on the battle automatically. This helps a great deal.

It's also important to note, that it's only the leaders picked up Glims that count.

[top]

Little Battler Experience
Awarded for winning 1,000 battles.

There are going to be a lot of battles. You'll most likely get this before or shortly after completing the game. If you're having trouble with the combat check the "Tips & Strategies" section.

[top]

Overfamiliar
Awarded for maximizing a familiar's familiarity.

In the Cage menu, you will find that familiars can be fed treats. This grows the familiars familiarity. This means that they can raise it's attributes by feeding the different treats. Notice the effectivity and fullness. This is awarded for filling up those five hearts. This means basically how much the familiar likes you and how willing they are to protect you. You need to have the hearts growing up to fill all 5. This is going to take some time, since the last 2 hearts needs around 500 treats in total. Plus you can only have a fullness of 10, then you have to decrease by 1 after every battle. Pick one familiar to focus on, and figure out which treats are effective in contrast to fullness and which don't and find a place to farm those ingredients.

[top]

Pedigree Breeder
Awarded for training a familiar to its full potential.

Not only does treats fill up hearts (see "Overfamiliar "), but also different skills like attack, defense, evasion and so on. There is a level cap though, so you cannot fill up for ever. This level cap gets bigger the more hearts you fill up. If you can get the 50/50 level cap you earn this trophy.

[top]

Viva the Evolution!
Awarded for managing 10 metamorphoses.

Familiars will eventually get to a high enough level where they can metamorphose. When a familiar metamorphosis it is reset to Level 1, but if you begin to level it up again, its stats will be considerably better so it is recommended to metamorphose when you get the chance. Metamorphosing also will give the familiar new and better abilities to use.

To perform a metamorphose you will first need a certain kind of drop. The drop must match the familiar's sign. For example, if a familiar has a moon sign than it can only metamorphose with a moon drop. It would not be able to with any other kind of drop. When a familiar is trying to metamorphose into it's third form, the familiar is going to need a jumbo drop that matches it's sign. So when moon familiar is in it's second form and is ready to metamorphose it will need a jumbo moon drop.

After you have accumulated 10 different metamorphoses the trophy will be yours.

[top]

Familiarizer
Awarded for taming 20 different species.

Refer to Familiarologist

[top]

Familiarologist
Awarded for taming 250 different species.

Familiars in Ni No Kuni are monsters that you can capture throughout the world to fight on your side. Think Pokemon. You can buy equipment for them, feed them and even metamorphose them. (Once again think Pokemon and evolving) They are also going to be your main fighting force in battle. Some of them are ridiculously strong and one you have three familiars out on the field at once, nobody can stand in your way if you have leveled them up right. After a battle, every party member and each familiar in each character's slots gets xp regardless if they fought or not. So that means you can have up to 12 characters leveling up at once.

Familiars are first available to capture when you arrive at Al Mamoon. You are then asked to go to the Temple of Trials. The Temple of Trials consists of three challenges. once you have completed all three the Master Sage will teach you about capturing familiars. Esther is the only one who can capture a familiar. Once your party has defeated an enemy there is a small chance that it will just get knocked out and hearts will float above its head. Quickly switch to Esther and taming it should be the first option. If you did it fast enough the familiar will be yours. 1 down. 249 to go.

This is going to be a super time-consuming trophy mainly because you are going to have to level up a ton of familiars and get them to metamorphose into their next level. Some you may have to metamorphose separately. This means at some point you are going to be grinding a lot of xp. The best way to do this is just to keep fighting the Guardian of the World for loads of experience points.

I would recommend capturing a familiar whenever you get the chance. Even when your slots are all filled up, if you capture a familiar they are sent to the Familiar Retreat where you can pick them up later at any time during the game. Remember!! You are going to need 250 different SPECIES, not just 250 familiars. So that does mean you will have to capture a few of the more challenging ones in order to get this trophy. Below is an entire list of familiars that should help you out.

Some familiars are also rewards from getting S Ranks and whatnot in the Trials Tournament and Casino Prizes while others are hidden in dungeons after you have completed the game. These will be some of the more challenging familiars to get and you should have a highly leveled up party.

Each color in the guide represents a different form. First Form, Second Form, Third Form Up, Third Form Down

Warning: There are some locations that have not been found yet and will be updated later. Many of the locations that are not given is mainly because the familiar must go through a metamorphose Any familiar you have had throughout the game will count so don't be afraid that if you upgrade one than you will lose it. Some are not found in the world and must be upgraded.

Super Hero
Awarded for collecting all the merit awards.

Although the main story may be what attracts you to this game the most, there are a number of errands and bounty hunts to perform. To get one of these side missions, the easiest way to do it is just to go to one of the shops with the book as an emblem on your mini map. If you go to the board with papers hung on it, you can find a number of errands to do. Check these constantly throughout the game to keep up to date on new errands appearing throughout the world. If you talk to the man at the desk you can do one of three things. You can get bounty hunts, claim bounties or claim merit rewards. Both, errands and bounties, both give you merit stamps. So basically, once you have done every bounty hunt and errand you will have gotten every merit stamp which will make this trophy pop.

Errands

Start an errand by talking to an NPC that is blinking blue on your mini map. The errands can be a number of activities. They can be anything from mending somebody's broken heart to fetch quests to alchemy. Here is a list of the errands.......

Bounty Hunts
Bounty hunts are not nearly as numerous as the errands, but are a lot harder. It is not recommended that you start a town's bounty hunts as soon as you get there. Wait until you are a much higher level than recommended to take these monsters on. They will tear you to pieces and leave you on the ground helpless if you are not prepared. Here is a list of the bounty hunts.

Pop Pop Fizz Fizz
Awarded for alchemizing 10 different items.

[top]

Mad Scientist
Awarded for alchemizing 120 different items.

Alchemy is firstly introduced in Castaway Cove after defeating the Genie that protects it. Here you can take some ingredients, mix them together, and get a new and much more helpful item. Unfortunately you need to follow the recipes for it to count and you only get one recipe from the Genie. If you complete quest #70, #76, #77, #78, #69, #59, #57 #40 and #21 you get additional pages. There is also quite a few from the main story. There is also a pirate in Skull Mountain that gives you some recipes after talking to him. In Perdida there is a boy close to the elder house who will give you recipes if you talk to him. A fishing Tomte in Yule "Plaza" also gives you some. Horace the ghost (see "Magic Master ") also gives you some at one point, and then again at another point (when you see him in the Council's Room (post game)).

Now that you have a ton of recipes, it's time to find ingredients. Here is a list:

Treasure Hunter
Awarded for finding all hidden treasure chests.

In the overworld there are hidden 100 invisible chests. At some point in the game you will get the dragon Tengri to fly you around the world, and before you're at that point you should have acquired the Seek Fortune spell. This marks the chest in a nearby area so you can find them. I've split the map up in a few sections and marked them each with where the chests are.

Here are some maps of the areas where you can find the treasure chests.

[top]

Globetrotter
Awarded for setting foot in all secluded regions.

For this you need to travel to every place, cave, dungeon and forest glade in the game. Most of them comes as you complete the game, but there are a few that does not. These are mostly used for sidequests, but a few them is just there to be there. Here is a map:

Note, that the red dot is only accesible through a certain sidequest that comes later.

[top]

Raising the Stakes
Awarded for collecting your first prize at the casino.

See "High Roller ".

[top]

High Roller
Awarded for collecting all of the tickets for the Mem-O-Vision by winning big at the casino.

After having cleared Tombstone Trail and restored peace to Hamelin, you can go back to Tombstone Trail and go into the crypt with the neon sign over it. This is the casino. Here is how it works:

You pay for tokens. 5 Gild for 1 token. These tokens can then used to play games:
Slot Machine:
You can either pay 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 or 90 tokens for a spin. You will of course get more back for winning the more you bet. The slot machine has three rows where you can get three in a row either vertically or diagonally. The different symbols mean different prizes.
  • Bats gives back the money you've bet.
  • Ghosts and pumpkins gives you 3x your bet.
  • Solomon's gives you 20x your bet
  • 7's give you 50 each and a row gives you 100x your bet.
Sometimes you will get items that can either double your score or slow down time for a few turns.
The slot machine is a bit of a money hog and I seriously do not recommend using it.

Blackjack:
You can bet 10, 50 or 100 tokens for a game. It's like normal Blackjack where you try to get a value of 21 but not going over. The values are:
  • The number cards is worth their correspondent number.
  • Jacks, Queens and Kings are worth 10 points.
  • Aces are worth either 1 point or 11 points.
You'll start out with two cards and you can then choose to either stay, be fine with those two cards, or hit, get another. Get close to 21, because you will be battleling against the house. If the house gets closer to 21 than you, you lose.

Double Cross:
The only "real" skillbased game. You remember the Test of Friendship in the Temple Trials? Good, because this is more of that only a lot harder, and you bet for taking each course. There are 5 courses in total and they unlock as you complete the others. It's a fun game, but it's not good for racking up tokens.

Platoon:
This is a strategybased card game. You will battle against the house. You bet 200 everytime. You get delt 10 cards. You need to assign them to 5 different piles. When all the cards are assigned you go to war. One player (either you or the house) picks a pile of both teams. Those two piles will now battle against each other. Who wins are determined by their value. The number cards have the value as the number they represent. Jacks and Queens are worth 10 points each. Now there are some special cards. Kings is an almost certain way to win, since it beats everything, even over a pile with a value of over 30. Bishops (aces) is in the opposite direction; they always lose, unless they are against a pile with a king. Bishops always wins over kings. Lastly there is the wizards (jokers) which switches the decks, so you now hold the house's cards and vice versa. This can be a double-edged sword, but also big game changers. There are some special rules though.
  • No deck can have more than 4 cards.
  • Kings can not be put together with neither bishops or wizards.
  • You can not place more than one of the same kind of special cards in one pile.
  • Wizards can not stand alone.
The last thing is prediction. In the beginning of every game you choose to predict a winning card deck, either your own or your opponents. If you get the prediction right you get half of your stake back, if the house predicts correctly she takes half of your stake.

Platoon is the best way to get tokens. Mostly because it has an exploit you can use.

Platoon Exploit

Here's the thing. The AI is pretty stupid. Bishops are always placed leftmost, then kings, and then number cards. The card sequence from left to right is bishop and wizard ---> bishop ---> king and wizard ---> king ---> wizard and number cards ---> number cards. If you layout your strategy so you have 3 really good piles, 1 bad pile and 1 mediocre pile (that's sometimes easier than other times), you can use your mediocre pile on the rightmost pile or target the leftmost pile with your bad pile in hope of getting a bishop. The only real thing to worry about is really bad cards and wizards.

Okay back on track. When you have good amount of tokens you can use them to purchase prices. C, B, A and then S rank. You need to complete the game to access the R.I.P. Lounge. Here you can watch the movie clips from the game. But to access more clips than the two there is you also need to buy the tickets which are the S rank prizes (they cost 10,000, 15,000, 20,000 and 30,000 totaling 75,000). Once you've bought all 4 tickets you can get this trophy.

Solosseum Slugger
Awarded for winning your first bout in the Solosseum Series.

See "Sollosseum Supremo ".

[top]

Sollosseum Supremo
Awarded for becoming the champion of the Solosseum Series.

After having restored Hamelin, you can return to the Temple of Trials to test your abilities in fighting. With a good leveled up set of characters rank E to A should be a cakewalk. Rank S however is not so easy. Get to level 85 at least with all of your characters. Then level up your best set of familiars. The first two rounds should be comfortable enough even though wisps has a one-hit-kill move, and there is a lot of ailments injecting enemies. The third round I recommend focusing on Medixx and the Poultridge first then on the big robot, remember to block often. At the last one, if you haven't used much MP with Oliver, you can basically just spam Thunderstorm for some easy hits. Once you've beaten all ranks this trophy is yours.

[top]

Magic Master
Awarded for learning all of Oliver's spells.

Spells are Olivers main form of attack. There is 50 of them and most of them are acquired through story. Not all of them though. There is this ghost boy named Horace that appears in all of the towns and he has a quite interesting back story. He will ask a question, always related to the Wizard's Companion. Answer the question correctly and he will give you a spell. Below is all of his appearances and the right answers.
