[top]Introduction

The release of Ninja Gaiden Sigma II was an effort to give the die-hard players of this series a more-advanced version of this timeless videogame classic. For all of you not privy to the shear-mania that this one series has produced allow us to back up a bit and take you down the shadowed paths and dark lurches of the world of the main character, Ryu Hayabasu.

Boasting of more action and better graphics and user gameplay functioning, Ninja Gaiden Sigma II is an answer to the prayers of ninja fighters worldwide. As mentioned above the storyline of Ninja Gaiden follows the adventures of one ninja; Ryu Hayabasu. As the brave hero of Ninja Gaiden it is Ryu and his adventures that have captivated gamers since the first release of the game in 1988. In this newest version of the game Ryu Hayabasu is once again charged with the saving of the planet by evil forces.

The general water-cooler talks and reviews about Ninja Gaiden Sigma II are along the same lines as the previous version(s). This is to say that the designing team which is Tecmos Team Ninja did not lose sight of the greatest appeal of this lose sight of the greatest appeal of this wonderfulninja fighting game, the difficulty levels.

At times many players have just given up or abandoned totally the levels in which a big bad boss subject proved to be almost unbeatable! This is why the game and the series have remained exponentially favorable and we would not have it any other way!

The main goal for Ryu Hayabasu is to save the earth. That is what he has been trying to do and succeeding at times for over a quarter of a century. Once his people were destroyed Ryu became incensed with finding the evil-doers who brought about this elimination of the ones he loved so very much. Ryu possesses an impressive cache of weaponry that he can summon almost anytime or when he either earns enough points or stumbles across these items throughout the game.

  • New Playable Characters - Ninja Gaiden's Rachel, Ayane from Dead or Alive and Momiji from Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword appear as sexy new playable characters.
  • Online Co-op - Two people can engage in online co-op play, with voice chat, in 10 different stages (in 4 difficulty settings) to complete special missions. Rankings from each mission are recorded and posted online, where gamers can choose their opponents based on players' mission stats.

  • New Enemies - A variety of new enemies and bosses have been incorporated into the stunning enhanced environments.

[top]Tips & Strategies

  • All trophies are listed in XMB order. This will make it easier to navigate through the guide.
  • In the "Options" menu, go to "Camera Settings" and change the 1st & 3rd-Person Cam. Speed to maximum (fast).
  • Chapter Challenge Mode will unlock after you have beaten the game for the first time on any difficulty.
  • Team Missions will unlock after you have beaten the first mission in story mode on any difficulty.
  • You will unlock Mentor Difficulty after you have beaten the game on Warrior Difficulty.
  • You will unlock Master Ninja Difficulty after you have beaten the game on Mentor Difficulty.
  • I suggest to collect all the Crystal Skulls on your first or second playthrough, Muramasa will permanently discount the prices of his items in his shop for every 10 Crystal Skulls you find. This will be very helpful on Master Ninja Difficulty.
  • Don't use your items a lot, especially on boss fights! The less items you use, the better you get at this game.
  • You can check all your stats in "Ninja Records" on the main menu. This includes the amount of kills with each weapon, the amount of times you have used Ninpo, maximum Combo with each weapon, Team Missions, Chapter Challenge and a lot more.
  • Blocking is the most important thing of the whole game, if you don't block you won't survive.
  • UT (Ultimate Technique) is the key to victory in most parts of this game. By pressing and holding in for 1-2 seconds Ryu begins to glow blue (Level 1 UT also called ET), waiting another 1-2 seconds and Ryu will start glowing red (Level 2 UT(Max)). You can reduce the duration used to perform an UT by 1-2 seconds (trust me you need this time) by using On Land UT technique. Simply jump and hold short before landing on the ground. It's a very useful technique.
  • Instant UT: Absorbing essences around you can instantly perform an ET (by absorbing 1 yellow essence) and UT (by absorbing 2 yellow essences, 1 blue essence or 1 red essence). So use your essence wisely.
  • The Lunar 360UT(360) is really good for dealing massive damage (instant kill against mech fiends). You can perform it by jumping and turning 180 degrees with before you land.
  • In the Team missions don't use the auto camera! It will be difficult at first without it, but you will see the benefits of it (especially in UN1 where is no auto camera you don't really want that Liz rapes you). I died a lot of this because i didn't see her lol.
  • BOTA (Blade of the Archfiend) is a boss killer weapon, it does massive damage and Ryu becomes completely invisible during this animation. This takes a lot of practice but it is so awesome if you have mastered it.
  • Dogs, Golden Fiends and the Mages are a massive pain in the butt, especially on Master Ninja. Try to kill them first before taking other enemies down.

[top]Improve Your Skills!

Here are some Tips & Hints which can improve your skills in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and make it an entertaining game instead of a frustrating game.

Legends:
  • ET: Ultimate technique level 1 (press Triangle til ryu shine blue then release near an enemy and enjoy the animation)
  • UT: Ultimate technique level 2 (press Triangle til ryu shine red then release near an enemy and enjoy the animation)
  • OLT: On Land Ultimate Technique

Essential:
  • BLOCK AND DASH is your friends her. Simply block and dash 80-90% of the time. That’s mean don’t let your finger off L1 unless you wanna attack the enemy.
  • Use your ESSENCES wisely. There are three types of essences: yellow (money), blue (health) and red (ninpo). Be careful if you block or attack you wont absorb the essences, but if you release your block button without attacking you gonna aborb the essences around you. NOTICE you don’t have to release your block button if you want to jump around, that’s will be a bad strategy specially on Master Ninja difficulty. Hold always your finger on the block button (L1) and jump around.
  • UT and ESSENCES: You can hold Triangle and wait 1-2 seconds for charging your ET/UT, well 1-2 seconds is/are a short time. The answer is YES when you playing other games and NO when you playing NGS2. 1-2 second is a LONG time you can get killed in this period. Therefore there is a way you can execute an INSTANT ET/UT. Don’t absorb the essences around you instead use them to your advantage (her Iam mostly talking about yellow essences, use the blue ones if you don’t need health. Eventually you need to absorb the red ones, because ninpo is more powerful than UT). If there is an essence around you press triangle and you will instantly shine blue/red (even faster if you use OLT). One yellow essence give you instant ET. 2 yellow, 1 blue or 1 red essence give you instant UT.
  • ON LAND UT: when jumping and before you land on the ground quickly press Triangle (you can do it without releasing the block button) that will reduce the preparing time for ET/UT. Very helpful technique, when you learn to timing it right you will never stop using it.

Helpful:
  • Izuna drop: You can perform this technique by pressing: STSST (it depend on the weapon you use). Very helpful technique you just can’t do without it on Master Ninja difficulty.
  • Flying Swallow: Can be performed on various weapons, but is more powerful with the Dragon Sword. You can perform this technique by pressing: X+S (Furious Wind technique) and then press T.
  • Guillotine Throw: This technique is a little hard to perform, you need to practice both how to do it regularly and the right time to execute it. You can perform this technique by pressing: X+S near a humanoid enemy and one more time when you are above his head.

[top]Cheats, Glitches & Exploits

  • There is a glitch on Chapter 5, where you can only get hit by the magicians in the fight in the last room just before you fight the Shrine Maidens. The glitch only works on Master Ninja Difficulty, but it's really helpful. I made a video that will show you what to do:

[top]Roadmap

  • Step 1) Story Mode on Warrior Difficulty
This game is time consuming, the trophies require you to do at least 7 playthroughs. Start with Warrior difficulty and beat the game. This shouldn't be too difficult and it will make you familiar with the gameplay. Complete this playthrough and you will get the " Cleared the PATH OF THE Warrior" trophy. If you have beaten the game for the first time on Warrior Difficulty, then it will unlock Chapter Challenge Mode for Acolyte and Warrior difficulty.
  • Step 2) Chapter Challenge Mode on Acolyte Difficulty Glitch
There is a glitch which spares you a playthrough, you simply need to complete the last chapter (17) on Chapter Challenge Mode in Acolyte Difficulty after and you will get the " Cleared the PATH OF THE ACOLYTE" trophy for completing the Story Mode (so not Chapter Challenge Mode) on Acolyte Difficulty.
  • Step 3) Story Mode on Mentor Difficulty
The 2nd hardest Difficulty on this game is already very challenging and it will take you some practice to get passed some checkpoints. Complete this playthrough and you will get the " Cleared the PATH OF THE Mentor" trophy. If you have beaten the game on Mentor Difficulty, it will unlock Chapter Challenge Mode for Mentor difficulty.
  • Step 4) Story Mode on Master Ninja Difficulty
This is by far one of the hardest Difficulties compared to any game and it will only give you the 2nd hardest trophy on the game. Complete this playthrough and you will get the " Cleared the PATH OF THE MASTER NINJA" trophy. If you have beaten the game on Master Ninja Difficulty, it will unlock Chapter Challenge Mode for Master Ninja difficulty.
    • I highly recommend reading the Tips & Strategies Section before starting the game on this difficulty.
    • Save as much as you can. When ever you defeat a wave of enemies don't be shy to go back and save.
    • Ryu is an agile Ninja use his agility for your advantage. That's means that you shouldn't stand too long in one place, always jump and move around and take your time to kill your enemies.
    • STRATEGY, STRATEGY AND STRATEGY is the key to victory. Just remember... nothing is impossible!

  • Step 5) Chapter Challenge Mode on Master Ninja Difficulty
For the "Master the PATH OF THE ..." trophies, you need to get a Master Ninja Ranking on every chapter. Even on Master Ninja Difficulty this is still a lot easier than the Story Mode on Master Ninja Difficulty, since you will have all your weapons from the begin fully upgraded and for some reason the enemies have less health. You don’t have to UT or OT at all, you can die 1000 times and you will still get a Master Ninja rank. The only thing that affects your rank is the killcount. You simply have to kill every single enemy in the level (it doesn't matter much if you miss 1 or 2). Chapter 17 is a bit challenging though, first you have to kill all the fishes in the area before facing Devil Genshin. Second when you face Dagra Dai there will be 3 enemies at the beginning and the same enemies will respawn again at 50% of his health and 20-25% of his health. You have to kill all those 9 enemies before finishing Dagra Dai. In other words you have to kill: Every enemy you face + the fish (all of them) + 9 enemies when fighting Dagra Dai. Complete this playthrough and you will get the " Master the PATH OF THE MASTER NINJA" trophy.
  • Step 6) Team Missions
This is gonna be the hardest part in order to get your platinum trophy... the Team Missions. The Team Missions are really easy untill you get to Master Ninja Difficulty Team Missions. You really need a good co-op partner from here, as some Team Missions are literally impossible to do offline because of the lack of your AI partner's skill. However, you should only worry about 2 Team Missions: Ultimate Ninja 01 & Ultimate Ninja 02, because the other Team Missions are do-able. There is a very helpful glitch with Rachel, the Rachel Twirl, which will make Rachel untouchable. Here is a very helpful tutorial for the Rachel Twirl:
  • Step 7) Chapter Challenge Mode on Mentor Difficulty
At this point this shouldn't be a problem anymore at all and you can just rush through the chapters. Complete this playthrough and you will get the " Master the PATH OF THE Mentor" trophy. From here you should also go for the "Defeat 1000 Enemies with ..." trophies.
  • Step 8) Chapter Challenge Mode on Warrior Difficulty
This is really easy and you can rush through it. Complete this playthrough and you will get the " Master the PATH OF THE WARRIOR" trophy. From here you should also go for the "Defeat 1000 Enemies with ..." trophies.
  • Step 9) Chapter Challenge Mode on Acolyte Difficulty
This is really easy and you can rush through it. Complete this playthrough and you will get the " Master the PATH OF THE ACOLYTE" trophy. From here you should also go for the "Defeat 1000 Enemies with ..." trophies.
  • Step 10) "Defeat 1000 Enemies with ..." trophies
If you have any "Defeat 1000 Enemies with ..." trophies left, then this is the moment to get them and get your trophy.
  • Step 11) Celebrate your Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Platinum Trophy
You are allowed to celebrate your newest Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 trophy, as this platinum is one of the hardest platinums on the world. Many people won't get this platinum. Well done!

[top]Boss Strategies

Chapter 1 Boss Fights:

  • The Statue Boss:
This boss is really easy to beat. Whenever he is gonna smash on the ground , just press to dash towards his hand and you won’t take any damage. Try to hit him as much as possible then with strong combo’s like + + with your Dragon Sword. Watch out for his pillars of light, you can recognize the move when he is gonna lift up his hands. Jump away from those pillars combined with dashing away with . When he wants to grab you, jump and press towards his hand, you will do a flying swallow attack and you won’t get hit. Try to stay pretty close to him.
  • Rasetsu (Spider Boss):
In the beginning of the fight he will crouch towards to you and tries to grab you, simply dash (on the right time) to the left or right to avoid the attack. You can now hit him 3x + + with your Dragon Sword. The Spider Boss does some different moves but you can block most of them. The best way to beat him is to focus on a few attacks so you know when you can hit him. It’s the best to attack him after his “3-Combo Attack”, Grab Attack and Jump Attack. The “3-Combo Attack” is the attack where he jumps towards to you, smashes with left and then smashes with right. You can avoid that attack by keep blocking and dashing away from him. The jump attack is the attack where he jumps in the air and tries to jump on you. You can avoid that attack by holding to block and dash away on the right time. The grab attack is probably the easiest but definitely the most dangerous attack. When he stands close to you he will try to grab with with both of his arms. You can simply dash away to the left or right with the correct timing to avoid this attack but when he grabs you it’s an instant kill. When he only has a little less than a quarter of his healthbar left, he will go down and you can do the final move with . You can block and dash away (still holding ) away to block his other attacks. Sometimes he does a shockwave attack though where little shockwaves will come to you. You can avoid the shockwaves by jumping and dashing away to 1 direction with the correct timing each jump.

New! There is a better tactic to beat Rasetsu. You can half-loop Rasetsu with the Izuna Drop Combo Attack with your Lunar Staff ( + + + + ). Watch the video below and you will see how easy it is to beat him this way.
Note: This is Rasetsu on Chapter 2 but this strategy will also work for Rasetsu on Chapter 1.
    A video for the half-loop:

    Toggle Spoiler

  • The Statue Boss 2:
You can use the same tactic as you did with the first Statue Boss. He only has 1 new move to watch out for: A laser. He will lift up his hands again and make a circle with them. A yellow with red light will show the direction the laser is gonna shoot. Dash away from that light and you won’t get hit by the laser. The laser can shoot vertical and horizontal.

Chapter 2 Boss Fights:

  • Rasetsu (Spider Boss) 2:
Guess who is back? Yes, here you have to fight to the Spider Boss again. You should use the same tactic as you did with the first time and you won’t have much problem with him then. There is one little thing this time though, he can heal himself if you get too far away from him, so try to stay as pretty close to him.
  • Genshin:
You can beat this boss really cheap. When the fight begins, be sure to block. Most of the time he will jump forward to you. If you block that attack immediately do the Izuna Drop Attack + + + + . Now you can “loop” which means you can repeat that attack endless times and he can’t do anything. This way you will beat him without getting hit a single time. Once you’ve done the Izuna Drop wait until he start moving his legs again and immediately do another Izuna Drop. Repeat this progress and it will be a very easy boss. The Izuna Drop will require some practice though. If he breaks your loop, he will start doing some attack. You can block and dash away from all his attacks. Whenever he is finished with an attack and he didn’t hit you, you will have a new chance to do the Izuna Drop again. Sometimes he does a “Piercing Void Attack”, he will shoot a black with purple ball at you. With enough practice you can dash away at the right moment to avoid getting hit by the ball.

Chapter 3 Boss Fight:

  • The Electric Worm:
This Electric Worm Boss can be really annoying. The only way to damage him is with arrows. The most important thing to do is to keep close to the worm. If you don’t stay close enough to the worm he will do one of his two deadly attacks and you won’t survive those. The worm will shoot either electric balls or a big “face”. If you stay close to him he won’t hit you with those attacks. Now there is one more problem: the fishes. You really need to pay attention to the little fishes. Sometimes there will be a group of little fishes coming to you and they do quite a lot of damage. You can avoid them really simple though by just dashing away ( + ).

Chapter 4 Boss Fights:

  • The Giant Chimp:
Big boys are tough? Not really! This is a really easy boss if you know what to do. When the fight begins, run immediately to his legs. Now all you have to do is hit him with your Dragon Sword + + + + . After like 5 hits, he will smash with his arms on the ground and a little earthquake will follow trying to hit you. As soon as hits the ground with his arms, dash towards his legs and you will avoid the attack. Repeat this and you can beat him easily without getting hit.
  • Alexei:
This guy really knows how to fight. Luckily, we do that as well. We have a really cheap move to loop Alexei and beat him easily. When the fight starts, he will usually dash towards your trying to hit you. Block and dash away to avoid getting hit and immediately press forward (to Alexei) + , this is a really cheap move and will loop him. He can do a few moves to get out of the loop though. Usually he does a few Jump-Thunder-Earthquake attacks, where he jumps into the air, smashes the ground and an electricity wave will come over the ground. You will get hit by this (it doesn‘t do much damage), but when you got hit, immediately dash back to him and loop him again. He will also do the Tornado Attack sometimes. You will have to dash away from it on the right moment, which will probably take some practice as well.

A very detailed Boss Strategy on Alexei from Iraqoz:

    Toggle Spoiler

Note: You will need a Lvl. 2 Dragon Sword.
  • Statue of Liberty
Another statue boss fight but this statue is a bit more difficult. This statue is electrically charged which means he is gonna shoot a lot of electricity to you. When he smashes on the ground, an electricity wave will flow over the ground. You can either jump away from it, but the best way is to do a flying swallow (Jump towards his arm with + ) on his arm with your dragon sword when is he about to hit the ground. You won't take any damage yourself but you will damage him. After he smashed on the ground you have a few seconds to hit his arm. Time to do the + + + combo with your Dragon Sword again. The best position is to stay in the corners of the map of course. For his other attacks you can use the strategy from the normal Statue Bosses. When the Statue of Liberty only has a half healthbar left, he will literally go crazy. He will almost non-stop shoot electric balls at you. Everything he does an attack, electric balls will come your way from the air. Jump and dash away from the with . When the electric balls aren't coming for a few seconds, grab your Fiend's Bane Bow and shoot a few arrows in his neck. When the electric balls come again, dash away again and grab your bow after. Repeat this a few times until the Statue goes down and you can do the final move.

Chapter 5 Boss Fight:

  • The Shrine-Maiden's
These 2 birds can be a really pain in the ass but once you mastered them, you can beat them quite easy. The first thing you need to know and focus on is only to fight 1 Shrine-Maiden at a time and deal with his health bar entirely before going to the next Shrine-Maiden. The Shrine-Maiden's have a lot of varied attacks, they will attack fast, they will attack a lot and they also have 1 instant kill attack. Yep, this will be a true challenge. The most important thing to watch out for is the instant kill attack. The Shrine-Maiden will pull back his arms, go a bit through his knees and he will dash to you, trying to grab you with his arms, to fly up in the air with you and throw you back on the ground. You can simply avoid this attack though by dashing away with if your timing is correct. These beasts of prey are really brutal. Their basic attacks are a bit less dangerous. They will either do a 3x or 4x Combo. In the 4x Combo the Shrine-Maiden will do an extra kick with his feet aimed at your head. This are the combo's we are gonna have fun with, as you can counter the first attack of both combo's. When they are gonna do a 3x or 4x Combo, hold to block and press when they first try to hit you. You will counter their attack and it will do a lot of damage. To avoid the the 3x or 4x Combo, just hold to block and keep dashing away from the left to the right. They also have an attack were they will jump in the air and try to hit you. Again, you can simply hold and dash away on the correct moment. Do they have another attack? Yes, they do! They can also do a tornado attack, they will spin very fast (they will stay on the same place) and a wind blast will come around them after a few seconds. As this attack isn't very effective, you can just run or jump far away from it and you won't get hit. As last, they can also throw explosive shurikens at you, if you keep blocking as much as possible, you won't get much hit by those.

Chapter 6 Boss Fight:

  • The Water Dragon
It is a dragon...in the water! There is a really easy tactic to avoid all the Water Dragon's attack and that is with the Ultimate Technique of the Enma's Fang (hold ). It will do a lot of damage and you won't get hit by the Water Dragon if your timing is correct. The Water Dragon can only do a few attacks. The basic attacks are the attack where he will swing with his head and a water blast will head your way. He can do this attack both ways vertically and horizontally. He also has an attack where ghosts fish will come your way. Try to release the Enma's Fang UT as early as possible because usually he will do a fast attack after it. His last attack is the attack where he will shoot pins at you. That is probably the most dangerous attack but again you can easily avoid this attack with an UT. Just keep spamming Enma's Fang's Ultimate Technique and this boss shouldn't be a big problem. Sometimes it will look like the Water Dragon is gonna do an attack but he won't, try not to release the UT then, because he can do a quick attack after. Try to release the UT's as early as possible so you have enough time to charge a new one before the attack attack will come.

Chapter 7 Boss Fights:

  • Bone Dragon
There are 2 ways you can fight this Bone Giant. The first, easiest, safest but longest way is to take your Canon and shoot him from distance. It will do a little damage on him. When he is too close to you, run towards the other side of the room and repeat the shooting. This will take a very long time. After around 20-25 shots, he lost 1/3 of his damage and he will go a sort of down, than you can do a lot of damage for a few seconds! The other dangerous, risky but more effective way to damage him is using the same strategy as for the Giant Chimp. Stay with his legs and hit him with the Dragon Sword ( + + + ), another good attack is a vary on the Izuna Drop Combo with the Lunar Staff ( + + + ) . He does a few attacks but most of them are very strong. He will do an attack where he will sweep over the ground and turn a 360. Hold and dash forward to avoid this attack. He will try to grab you, so dash away with , if he grabs you he will do an instant kill attack. He will try to kick you, again dash away with . If you stay close to him, he won't throw any sand at you. After several hits he will go sort of down and you can do a lot of damage on him for a few seconds.
  • Volf
Volf looks like a very tough guy again. But most of the tough guys we could loop so far and we can do that with Volf again as well. Time to have another fight with your Lunar Staff. When he is close to you, press forward + + , keep pressing . This will loop Volf and he won't get out of this loop and this fight will be over really soon.

A very detailed Boss Strategy on Volf from Iraqoz:

    Toggle Spoiler

Chapter 8 Boss Fight:

  • Marbus
This boss can be pretty challenging when you first see him but when you know how to deal with him he is actually pretty easy. We gonna spam UT's on him. When the fight starts, first kill all the little Minions. They will spawn back at 50% health and 25% health so prepare to kill them again. You can avoid all Marbus' attacks with an UT. Even if your ET didn't charge fast enough, just release on the correct moment and you won't get hit! You can use this trick for all his attacks and you won't get hit and you will do a lot of damage on him. When he does that spinning in the air and he will dash towards you, release your UT a bit early (you will still hit him), turn around and hit him a few times while he sits there on the ground with + ( Optional: Depending on time + ). He will also shoot balls at you, you can also avoid these with an UT but if you can't charge an UT fast enough, just jump and dash away with . Sometimes when you charge an UT he will come fly above your head, when he is about to drop down, release the UT and you will damage him and won't get hit. After the spinning attack he will sit down on the ground for a few seconds, after that time he will stand up and most of the time he will dash towards you and try to grab you. Dash away with on the correct moment to avoid getting grabbed.

Chapter 9 Boss Fights:

  • Genshin 2
Same tactic as for the previous Genshin, we gonna Izuna Drop Loop him again with the Lunar Staff ( + + + + ). For more tips look at the first Genshin Strategy.
  • Fire Armadillo
This is actually a really tough boss and there is no easy way anymore to beat him when his health is at 60% and he goes crazy. When the fight starts take your Eclipse Scythe and run towards his tail, from there UT him. After you release the UT run back to his tail again and charge an UT again. Keep doing this will let him turn in circles. When he is at around 60% of his health, he will go crazy and start shooting non-stop fireballs. From here you should start spamming Ninpo, there is no other way to get him down! Run away from the Fire Armadillo and let him turn around, than use a Piercing Void Ninpo and aim at his head. Repeat this progress and he will be down in around 5 Ninpo's. After he goes down BLOCK, he will explode and it will do you a lot of damage! You can die at the end and you will have to restart the entire fight! Somethings he does a rolling attack, the best way to avoid that attack is by start running big circles and dashing away on the moment he is about to hit you.

Chapter 10 Boss Fight:

  • Zedonius
When the fight starts, let Zedonius drop down on you but before he does charge an Art of the Raging Inferno Ninpo and try to kill all the minions, you won't get hit by Zedonius. Turn around and the fight can begin. We are gonna focus on his grab, fire beam attacks and the drop out the air attack. You may only attack after those 3 attacks! We he does a grab attack, dash to the left or right on the correct moment and start hitting him with the Tonfa's. A good combo is + + + or + + + . Sometimes he will do a fire beam, you can recognize the move because he will get a fire ball around him. After a few seconds he will shoot the fire beam, if you avoid it simply by not standing the way he is gonna shoot, you can start hitting him. Sometimes he will fly up in the air again and dropping down on you trying to hit you. With his landing there will be a little fire around him, so just jumping away will get you hit. You need to do a + move on the very correct timing to avoid this attack. If you do that correctly, you can turn around and hit him a few times after. Don't try to hit him after any of his other attacks, because you will fail. His normal combo's and kick attack will break your hits. He can also do a move where he will start throwing fire balls at you. The only really good working way to avoid these balls is by charging a Ninpo. He can also do a move where fire will come out of the floor. Jump and dash away on the correct timing with to avoid that fire. At 50% & 25% the minions will come back, just kill them all again and focus on Zedonius again.

Chapter 11 Boss Fight:

  • Obaba
Ayane's chapter is probably the hardest of the game, so it's a relief that her boss is so easy. For her jump attack, block and dash away with on the correct moment. The spinning attack with her arms can be blocked. For the "3-Combo-Attack" with her arms, just dash away every time she tries to hit you. When she sends purple bird to you, go stand as close as possible to Obaba and the birds won't hit you. For her grab attack from long distance, just dash backwards once she is about to grab you. You hit here with whatever combo you like, she shouldn't be a big problem at all. Try to hit here on the back, she will go down for a few seconds if you do that.

Chapter 12 Boss Fight:

  • Black Dragon
Prepare yourself for another tough fight as this dragon won't be easy to defeat. He can do several attacks, all of them do a lot of damage and 1 attack is an instant kill. Never go attack his head, always attack his back. He can grab your with his head and he will do an instant kill on you. Lets start with his tail sweep attack. The Black Dragon will turn 180 degrees and will sweep his tail in that turn trying to hit you, you can simply avoid getting hit by dash towards the tail with holding + move to the tail direction. Sometimes the Black Dragon will go stand on his hind legs, this means he is gonna do a fire on the ground attack. You can only avoid that attack with a lot of precision. When he hits the ground with his forelimbs, fire will come on the place you are standing. You can only avoid that fire by dashing away with on the correct timing. He will also jump a few times in the air, trying to jump on you. You can avoid that by jumping backwards, you will get out of the Dragon's range and he won't hit you. This Black Dragon can also fly, he will fly up in the air and he will fly across the map hitting the ground with his tail. Fire will come at all the places where his tail hit the ground. Jump and dash away with from the tail and you will be fine. You can use all kinds of weapons for this boss. I used the Enma's Fang because it does a lot of heavy damage. After every move, run towards his back and hit him a few times with your weapon ( + + + ). When he has around 40% of his health left, he will go down and you will need to rip off his tail. He won't do any new attacks after, he will just keep doing his old attacks, so you should keep using this strategy. He won't be any harder after you've ripped off his tail.

Chapter 13 Boss Fight:

  • Elizabeth
There isn't much to say about this boss. She is definitely the hardest boss of the whole game (in the Team Missions, not in the Story Mode) because there isn't any way to beat her easily. She isn't very hard to beat, she is just really annoying. We gonna spam Eclipse Scythe UT from a distance on here right now. When the fight starts, she will dash to you. Block and run towards the other side of the room (around the other side of the bloodbad) and charge an UT with your Eclipse Scythe. Release the UT and charge another one. If she gets to close and there is still plenty of room behind you, just jump backwards and charge a new UT. Her attacks aren't really hard to avoid. Her hardest and probably most annoying attack is when she flies up in the air and she will shoot blood at you. The best way to avoid these strings of blood is to dash from right to left while going a bit forwards. You won't get hit by the attack if you're dashing. If she dashing towards you, you can simply block her attack with and dash away. If you keep enough distance and keep charging UT's, she shouldn't be a big problem.

Chapter 14 Boss Fight:

  • Genshin 3
Same old Genshin, you can loop him with the Izuna Drop Combo with your Lunar Staff again ( + + + + ). For more tips, look at the first Genshin.

Chapter 15 Boss Fights:

  • Marbus 2
You can use the same tactic for Marbus 2 with the Eclipse Scythe or Enma's Fang as on Rachel's level. Kill the minions in the beginning, at 50% and at 25% health of Marbus. Charge an UT with the Eclipshe Scythe or Enma's Fang when he is gonna do an attack. And if you are too slow you can release before you charged an ET and you won't get hit if you time right. Another way to beat him is to let him do the spinning tornado attack in the air and dash away on the correct moment. Turn around and walk to his back and do a + + + + + Combo with your Tonfa's. This will do a lot of damage but it will be hard to avoid his spinning attack.
  • Zedonius 2
When the fight begins, run towards another Island. The fire will do a little damage but the minions won't follow you! Now you can have a 1 on 1 fight with Zedonius. If you follow the exact same tactic as on the previous Zedonius, this boss shouldn't be a problem at all. He can do a new attack though where he will shoot a fire wave over the ground. Simply jump over it to avoid it. For his fireballs attack, you can also use a Ninpo to avoid getting hit. Note: We the fight has ended it will spawn you to the middle island and the minions will still be there, so watch out!
  • Volf 2
Volf is back! Yeah! Again, you can loop him with the previous tactic. When he is close to you, press forward + + , keep pressing with your Lunar Staff.

Chapter 16 Boss Fights:

  • Alexei 2
The Master of Thunder is back! In my opinion he is a really cool boss. Alexei 2 isn't changed I think, you can loop him again like as on the previous tactic with the Dragon Sword forwards + tactic. For more information look at the previous Alexei strategy.

Chapter 17 Boss Fights:

  • Genshin 4
    Strategycoming soon...
A very detailed Boss Strategy on Elizabeth from Iraqoz:

    Toggle Spoiler

  • Elizabeth 2
After you have defeaten Genshin for the last time, you will need to fight Elizabeth again! Luckily, there is a small glitch that helps beating her easily. When the fight starts, go look for Genshin's dead body. Genshin's dead body will be an invisible wall. Try to get Elizabeth to the other side of the dead body and she will start doing close combat combo's... and they will all miss. The only thing you have to do is spam Eclipse Scythe UT's and this fight will be over pretty fast.
  • Degra Dai
When the fight starts, charge an Art of the Raging Inferno Ninpo and try to kill all the fiends. The fight itself is pretty easy. When Degre Dai is in the air, he will shoot pillars of light out of the ground which can easily be avoid by jumping and dashing away with . When he comes down, you can charge an UT with your Blade of the Archfiend and try to hit him. Most of the time he will do a thunder attack where thunder will come out his sword trying to hit you, you can avoid all this thunder with jumping and dashing away with , but when he is doing this attack I suggest you to run towards him, jump and do a + + + attack and immediately jump/dash away again. This attack will do a lot of damage on him. When he is far enough away from you, feel free to charge an UT as they do quite some good damage, especially if the UT is still going and he does his thunder attack. At 50% & 25% of his health the Fiends will spawn back again. Charge a Art of the Raging Inferno Ninpo to kill those. The only thing you need to watch out for his is long range sword attack. After he teleported, he will stab his sword in your stomach and it will be an instant kill.
  • Degra Dai 2
This boss is pretty straightforward. When the fight begins you will start in the water. Run towards the platform in front of you and there will be an essence chest. Run up and the fight will begin. You need to shoot with your bow at his head. When you shoot at his head, he will spit blood at you. You can simply avoid that blood with a dash to the left of right with . After a few hits, his stomach will start glowing what means you now gotta shoot at his stomach. After 2 or 3 hits he will shoot a beam at you. This beam can be horizontally and vertically, so have a good look at that for which way you need to dash to avoid it. At around 75% health, he will go upwards but first he will smash at some rocks, be sure to be blocking when he smashes the rocks because he can also hit you! Do this around 3 more times and he will go down. On the go through the next fights, you can find a few chests with items.
  • Degra Dai 3
The last boss of the game, finally yeah! If you have bad luck, Degra Dai 3 will immediately go fly up in the air and starts throwing fire balls. You can simply avoid these by jumping and dashing away with . Sometimes he will do an electric attack and the ground will get an electric shock wave, you can simply avoid getting hit by jumping on the right moment. He will dash out of the air on your platform trying to hit you, if he misses you he will start walking for a few seconds (in the wall) and you can hit him there. Jump and hit him with a + + + combo with your Blade of the Archfiend. After a few seconds he will start flying in the air again. If you are luckily he will stay at the edge this time. Quickly run towards him and he will try to grab you. Dash away on the correct timing and jump and start hitting him with the previous combo again. Keep doing this untill he doesn't try to grab you anymore. After that, he will usually do a light beam attack. Jump away from his arms and run back and do a Flying Swallow attack, jump towards him with and press . Most likely he will do a smash on the ground attack a few times, if you are standing close to him you can't avoid that attack unless you use a Ninpo. When he is smashing on the ground, keep jumping and dashing away from his attacks with . As last, sometimes when he is flying he will do a horizontally across the map fly attack, simply stand close to the wall and you won't get hit.

[top]Crystal Skull Locations

Finding all the Crystal Skulls in the game is not necessary for a trophy, however it might be useful for your Master Ninja Playthrough. There are 30 Crystal Skulls in the game. Muramasa will permanently discount the prices of his items in his shop for every 10 Crystal Skulls you find. The less the items cost, the more items you can buy and use!

Follow this video below exactly and you will find 29 Crystal Skulls. This is because in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 there is 1 Crystal Skull on a different location than in Ninja Gaiden 2. This is Crystal Skull #6 in Chapter 3 at 00:51 seconds in the video. The correct location of the Crystal Skull is in the area where you see the giant ventilation fans, blast through the fan on the right side and Crystal Skull #6 will be there.
