[top]Tips & Strategies

How To Drift
 Is both a handbrake and a drift starter. Which one you use will drastically change how your car turns. If you just press that's the handbrake which should only be used when you are facing a sharp corner. When you hold that's your drift control, it slows the car down somewhat and gives you more control over your car. Let go of if you've lost too much speed and tap your brake while holding your accelerator to help battle with the over and under steer. RWD will be a better choice of vehicle.

Choose The Right Car For Your Driving Style
If you’re struggling to win an event, it may be because you haven’t selected or unlocked the right car. Different types of cars are useful for different events, try them all out and find which car suits your driving style.

Boost/Power & Speed
Boost
You get boost from racing in Shindo Events and you will recognize this by the blue stream that comes from you and the other racers when being used. You will not be able to frag other racers or break city targets, so to earn more boost you need to concentrate on awards, drifts, air and chasing to earn more boost/points.
Power
You get power from racing in Domination, Time, Drift and Frag events and you will recognize this by the orange stream that comes from you and the other racers while being used. You will be able to frag other racers and break city targets in Domination and the final Time Attack. You earn boost by normal means eg awards, drifts, air and chasing but also by hitting collateral eg rubbish, street lights, trees, explosives, signs, road barriers and walls. General Rule, if it's smaller than your car you can break it to earn more boost and points.
Speed
Of course you need speed to win at any racing game but in this game it's not always the answer. Take the Drift events, slow it down a bit for bigger points and don't be afraid to spin the car out to earn maximum points then pause and reset your car. The first lap provides more points so take it easy and utilize the first lap for points. In Frag races you might be stuck in a situation where there are no cars in front of you, look behind and slow down because they are more than likely just behind you. Domination races, you have a racer hot on your tail and you have full power, slow down let them pass then frag the ass off them to put them back in their place.

Domination Races Are Your Big Point Earners
Stuck in a district with 3 stars in all events but still have locked events, go back and redo the Domination races. Concentrate on hitting every short-cut, take out a few racers and drive through as much collateral as you can. Most Domination races will give anywhere between 30 and 40,000 points for a good run.

Boosting Sessions
This games multiplayer activity is dead, I sat in the race lobby for around 30min & only had 1 racer join who quit half way through because he was losing. So the only way you're going to get the multiplayer trophies is by boosting with friends or fellow members of PS3Trophies that have the game.

GDT's Platinum PathThere are a total of 9 districts in Shatter Bay which hosts a total of 64 races which you need to dominate all with a three star rating. All districts have 7 races in each except for the last area Ghost Bay which has 8 races. There are 5 different race types involved; Domination, Shindo, Frag Attack, Drift Attack and the hardest race type, Time Attack.
  • 3 star dominate all Shatter Bay races.
  • Clean up the remainder of the trophies, create races for particular trophies.
  • Work on the 11 multiplayer trophies. (Boosting)

You’ve earned all Trophies

Learning The Ropes
Complete Domination Race tutorial.

You will get this trophy just before completing the first race titled "The Unbounded" and the only car available to race in will be the "Wolfseye GT" until you progress further into the game. While racing the so-called tutorial come will come up on the left hand side of the screen and will consist of gaining your power, so tailgate the racer that's in front of you until the first corner then drift around the corner and your first power should be ready to use as you are going around the corner, to use your power press to frag one of the other racers, using your power press again this time to break a city shortcut to reveal a race shortcut (even if you see the shortcut come up on the screen don't activate your power until you see the mark on the city target change to display a target symbol for that means you're close enough to hit it before your power runs dry and finally a very poor way of teaching you how to drift by pressing while going around a corner.

It might be just the way I race but I found that just pressing will work with the slower cars but re-acts like a handbrake with the faster cars and would be wiser to hold instead. Try both ways and see which way suits your style.

Champion

Race Dominator

Winning!
Finish 1st in 150 Domination Races.

There are only 32 Domination races in Shatter Bay so this trophy will require you to win more races then just going through the story. But stress not because the Multiplayer will provide more races for you to win.

You may still need to win even more races, even after finishing all of this. so if you do, the City Creator will be the best way to do this quickly. Place one starting piece (the track piece with the arrow on it) 4 corner pieces and one straight to complete the track. After that adjust the race options, make it just one lap, turn the traffic off, choose 3 opponents so it's a 4 car race, set the vehicles to super class and use the Crinale if you unlocked it in the last Shatter Bay event as it is the fastest car in the game, completing the track like this should take less then 40 seconds to finish and give say 2 minutes depending on your PS3 for loading times and award screens. So you will roughly win a race every 3 minutes

High Flyer
Get 10,000 m/yd of total Airtime.

You will get this very early in your Shatter Bay progress, 95% of all city targets end with a jump. Also if you flip your car, this also counts as airtime. You won't even need to think about this trophy before it's yours. But if you want to think about it and have fun while doing so, create a race and go into the advanced editor. Scroll down to jumps, select the largest jump and place them around the track in as many places as you can. Race the track you just created while hitting the jumps you placed in it.

If you use this created race method, don't worry about winning the race, concentrate on hitting the jumps only.

Super Drifter
Get 50,000 m/yd of total Drifting.

You will also get this very early in your Shatter Bay progress, hold to drift around corners. They don't teach you about the drifting line in the game but the key things to remember is to go in from the outside while holding while tapping to maintain your racing line & let go of if you're losing too much speed.

If you want to get it sooner rather then later keep repeating a drift event that you're sure to dominate ever time you race it. But I had more than 600,000 drifting distance earned while progressing through the main story, so there is no need to farm this trophy.

Tail Chaser
Get 35,000 m/yd of total Chasing.

You will get this very early in your Shatter Bay progress. When each race starts drive behind the driver ahead of you for a quick 500m chasing and through-out the race whenever you get the chance. This is easy as most racing games now use the tailgating method to slingshot around the racer that you wish to overtake.

Getting to tailgate someone for 500M can be a slight challenge but there are 2 more awards beyond that 750M & 1,000M and you will most likely not get either of them through normal story progression. Create a race, a nice long straight track using 2X8 of the race grid for the track. Let at least one racer lead and as soon as you get around the the first of the two corners get right up behind him and chase the racer until you see you have passed 1000M Tailgating, it shows in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Drift Master
Get three domination stars from all Shatter Bay Drift Attacks.

Throughout Shatter Bay there are 7 drift attack events where the only point of the race is drifting. They start you with only 32 seconds on the clock and you earn more time for successful drifts. On the first lap you get 1 second for every 10 points you earn but on lap two you only get 1 second for every 20 points you earn. A great drift will net you with 100-200 points and a average drift is any number between 10-100 points.

Don't rush the first lap and if you know you are losing control of the car ride out the spin-out for every point you can get, then reset your cars position.

Only use the videos if your having trouble with that particular event as I have made these for
cross reference purposes only and watching them all will only delay you.

Frag Master
Get three domination stars from all Shatter Bay Frag Attacks.

Throughout Shatter Bay there are 11 Frag Attack events where the only point of the race is taking out other vehicles. Two main things to point out with this, each car you frag gives you 2 seconds extra time and each shortcut gives you 5 seconds extra. If you're having trouble catching up to the next batch of cars look behind you, you're probably leading a pack.


Don't worry so much about taking the 5 second shortcut bonuses because they don't follow you through the shortcuts & your 5 seconds could end up costing you more time then that by not being able to frag anyone. Use your boost just after corners not during the corners and don't try to use a PIT maneuver but rather drive straight up the their rear end.

Only use the videos if your having trouble with that particular event as I have made these for
cross reference purposes only and watching them all will only delay you.

Can’t Touch This
Finish 1st in 10 Domination Races without crashing or getting fragged.

The City Creator will be the best way to do this. Place one starting piece (the track piece with the arrow on it) 4 corner pieces and one straight to complete the track. After that adjust the race options, make it just one lap, turn the traffic off, choose 3 opponents so it's a 4 car race, set the vehicles to super class and use the Crinale if you unlocked it in the last Shatter Bay event as it is the fastest car in the game if your having trouble go to the race setting and give them the worst vehicle class, while you are still driving the super class vehicles.

I Just Want to Sing!
Finish 1st in 20 Domination Races with 0 frags.

Check Can't Touch This above for more information, it applies to this trophy as well. You can still use your power just don't touch the other racers while boosting.

Drift to Win
Finish 1st with 2,000 m/yd of total Drifting in any 8 player Domination Race.

As long as you start your drift before each corner from the outside heading to the inside and get the lead early then you can concentrate on your drifts. If you still cant get it through normal play you can make a custom race with 5 laps to get the job done. Unlike the Drift attack events Domination attack events award drift points that you don't have to work as hard to earn the points needed for the trophy. A great drift will net you 150-300 points and a average drift will net you 10-150 points. But tight corners will not yield many points

Fanboy's Revenge
Win an 8 player multiplayer race with the Crinale.

You will only get the Crinale after you dominate the last of the Ghost Bay Time attack event. Go and design a 8 player race, set the vehicles to super class, select the Crinale and go and win that race. This will only be possible with boosting due to the lack of people playing.

Frag Capacitor
Frag 10 racers in one race.

There are 3 ways to do this, first is by normal fragging, the second way is to drive though things like the gas tanker and the plasma screen, which sends out a shock wave, they count as frags as well. The final way is create a race with many laps in the City Creator.

If you use the City Creator method be sure to place gas tankers, etc to increase the frag rate and also place the RR Boost Bonus behind every tanker you place to recharge your boost for the next gas tanker.

City Demolisher
Destroy 10 city targets in one race.

Make a race and make sure you use more than 10 city target pieces to make the track and make the race either two or three laps long. Then race it and hit as many or all of them. I made a track with 13 city targets but was only able to hit 11 of them. The gas tanker and it's other explosive counterparts in the advanced editor also count as city targets. So place a couple of those as well to further increase your odds of hitting the target mark.

This to me is a cheating method but if you test your track while using the editor you get unlimited laps and can just keep racing until you destroy all the required targets.

Litterbug
Cause $10,000 worth of collateral damage in one race.

Create a new track this time place your track pieces around the outside of the grid. Any start and corners but for every straight use Eastside's Train Lines, then use the Advanced Editor and select a breakable (I used tires & cardboard boxes) then go around the already clustered footpaths with them placing them on both sides. You will get around 20,000 collateral damage from 2 laps.

[If you select 3 laps and boost every time you can while driving through the collateral over your 2 laps then spend the third lap drifting side to side for more boost, you will get the rare award "Power Addict" for using your power 30 times in 1 race.

Sideslammer
Frag any racer a total of 10 times while drifting.

As you're driving within or just behind a pack, start your drift and when the nose of car is facing towards another racer, hit the boost and take them out of action. After you frag 10 racers this way the trophy will be yours. This will actually be one of the first trophies you will earn. You will not have to give this trophy any thought.

Bombardment
Frag a total of 10 racers while airborne.

This is difficult and requires both luck and skill. Hit the boost just before a jump but you have to try to line it up so you land on them while your still boosting. To make things easier though create a track going around the outer grid with plenty of low jumps and make it a frag attack with 11 opponents with a 5 minute clock and you should get it eventually.

This trophy is glitched I actually had 30+ air frags before I got this trophy from using the method above twice, but it wasn't until I started a domination race afterwards that it actually rewarded me with the trophy, so do the race just once then switch to a domination attack event for the game to register that it has been done. I have already made and uploaded this design for others to use. Use the search feature to look for a city named "River Styx" and I named the event "Death From Above" and is only designed to get multiple air frags from 1 race.

Flashing Fury
Frag a total of 200 police cars in Frag Attack events.

Most of the frag attack challenges you have to take down 25+ cars to get the 3 star rating so this will come with your shatter bay progression. I personally found that driving straight into them works better then side-swiping pit manoeuvres and try not to boost around corners, keep it on the straights.

This video doesn't show the trophy but shows how easy this trophy actually is.

Public Enemy
Cause $100,000 worth of collateral damage in total.

Drive through anything that breaks. A total of 10,000 breakables is required 10 points are given for each breakable, It doesn't matter what you break A cardboard box is worth the same amount as driving through a brick wall. Use the same track and method which I explained for Litterbug That race is worth $20k in collateral damage so you would need to do the race it just 5 times and the trophy will become yours.

Litterbugs Description: Create a new track this time place your track pieces around the outside of the grid. I Know You!
Frag same racer three times in one multiplayer race.

Because of the multiplayer inactivity if you wait in a race lobby for a while, as soon as another player joins the lobby the race will start with just 2 players. Getting the first frag is important, then let them overtake you and repeat. If you get the timing right they shouldn't be able to earn much boost and you earn yours with your frag, drift and speed awards.

Not Easy Being Mean
Frag 20 cars in one race.

Make a custom domination race around the outside of the City Creator grid and use the advanced editor and place explosive trucks around the track with boost bonus breakables. Make say 2-3 laps, this should be enough to drive through the explosive trucks and recharge your boost. Be warned though, they can blow you up as well as take your boost bonuses.

Nothing but Wreck
Frag 200 racers in total.

This is simple especially with frag attacks needing 20-35 frags for the 3 star domination so this trophy will come naturally while playing through Shatter Bay. Also restarts don't take away from what you have done stats wise. I personally found that driving straight into them works better then side-swiping pit manoeuvres and try not to boost around corners, keep it on the straights.

Interceptor
Frag a racer just before the finish line.

Play a created race on easy with 1 lap and a nice long straight before the finish line. Gain power but stay behind first place for the whole race but when you pull around the last corner start chasing (tailgating) him, then just as his about 1 car length from the finish use your power and frag him.

City-Wide Destruction
Destroy 100 City Targets.

This isn't very hard as most races have around 4-8 city targets in them, use you power and smash through as many as you can. You will earn this very early in your Shatter Bay progression. Restarts don't take away from the total targets you have hit. If you have the lead keep your power and only use it when you are about to smash through the targets.

There are a lot of people that have uploaded races who have used 50+ gas tankers, which as I said before they count towards city targets destroyed.

Mechanic's Nightmare
Get your own car destroyed 100 times.

What is easier then destroying your car, you will get this without giving this any thought. You know when you crash not only because you just crashed or got fragged by another racer, but the screen also turns black and white.

Boost Scrooge
Finish 1st in any 8 player multiplayer race without using boost.

Do not use boost and win a multiplayer race to unlock this trophy. Would be easier boosting this with friends. Concentrate on getting ahead but once you're ahead look back every now and then and if you see a racer coming up on you let them pass and try to pass them again.

Unbeatable
Finish 1st in 50 multiplayer races.

Set up boosting sessions or try your luck against the unknown. Either way you're to win 50 multiplayer races to get this trophy. If they drop out halfway through a race and you find that your racing alone, you will have to continue to the finish but you will be awarded with first place.

Pure Racing Blood
Finish 1st in any 8 player multiplayer race without fragging anyone.

The best way to get this would be to try to take the lead early and use your power on city targets only and pass the line first for the trophy. Setting up a boosting session could also work for you. The only hard thing with getting this is actually finding 7 other racers in the lobby.

My City
Publish a city.

Check City Creator below.

City Creator
Publish a city with 5 events.

From the main menu select Create My Cities, from there select <New City> and name your city, from there select the 5 <Create Event> and name your race. Select basic editor, this will bring up an 8X8 grid for you to place roads and make a complete track.

Pick a block and confirm it with scroll through the different Shatter Bay districts by pressing either or and view the different parts with and . Confirm your choice when your happy with it. Every track must have only 1 piece with the arrow symbol, this is the starting line so it would be best to place this piece first. When you see a piece of track with a target on the lower image that means it has a city target or 2 in it, which city target it is, will be displayed up the top on the grid. You also have a budget so keep an eye on that to make sure you don't fall short of completing your track. Once the track is complete press and save and exit.

Use the advanced editor to place different objects on your track and use the event options to change race types, laps, time, traffic, opponents, class and difficulty and play your event.

Once all 5 races have been created and you have set the creator records on each track, press to publish your city.You will receive both My City and City Creator.

Getting Creative
Create a track that uses Advanced Editor.

This is easy all you have to do is open up the advanced editor in your created race and place just one single item, doesn't matter which item as long as you placed it and saved it.

World Domination
Dominate 50 challenge events.

Click on Dominate the World from the main menu, up the top of the screen you will see some timers on races. These races will change every 24, 6 and 1 hour. Click on any of these and you have have to beat the creators record on each race, most people haven't tried hard on their own track to make things easy for others. Once you beat creator records 50 times this trophy will be yours.

Get all Race Awards.

Some of the race awards are very easy and you will get them every race but there are a couple out there that can be quite challenging, but each of these things I have listed below have to be done at least once each before the trophy will unlock.

The awards I have marked with Rare can be made easier with created races. Head on Frag is just a luck situation I have no guaranteed method for getting this. The Donut Shop is marked as Rare because most people will use the Railway Station City Target which exits after the donut shop, go around the station instead.

Complete the Shatter Bay career.

There are 64 races in shatter bay, once you have raced on them all regardless of how many stars you have earned on each race. So this means you will have to at least get third place in the Domination and Shindo races, reach at least the minimum target in the Drift and Frag events and finally pass the Time attack races before the third timer runs out.

Upon finishing each race the points you earn gets added to your rank. You will receive this trophy when you reach level 10 through your Shatter Bay progress. Check Ultimate Dominator below for each race types average scores.

Ultimate Dominator
Reach rank 30.

Upon finishing each race the points you earn gets added to your rank. Depending on your skill and how many times you do each track before passing them, you might not get to level 30 before finishing Shatter Bay so you will likely get this trophy while playing multiplayer or racing on your created races.

Average point scores needed for each event
  • Key focus points to remember for each race type.

First Place awards you with 15,000 points
Second Place awards you with 10,000 points
Third Place awards you with 5,000 points

These averages have the first place points included in them
Domination - Between 30,000 and 40,000 points.
  • Shortcuts, Frags, Collateral Damage and Race Awards. All good extra point earners.

Frag - Between 26,000 and 28,000
  • Frags are essential but does not earn a great deal of points. they earn you extra time to continue though.
  • Collateral Damage and Race Awards. Where your extra points are.
  • Shortcuts are not the best option because you could be stuck by yourself to earn 5 seconds for long enough to miss 5 cars worth 10 seconds.

Drift - Between 16,000 and 17,000 points.
  • Collateral Damage and Race awards will give you a few points.
  • No shortcuts or Frags available in drift attack races.

Shindo - Between 17,000 and 19,000 points.
  • Collateral Damage and Race Awards. Yet again that's where the points are.
  • No Shortcuts or Frags just pure racing at it's best.

Time - Between 15,000 and 16,000 points.
  • Collateral Damage, Race Awards and RR Boost Bonus. Earn some OK points Boost Bonus freezes the timer for 2 seconds as well
  • Shortcuts or Frags are not available.
  • However the last time attack event (for the Crinale) involves everything that awards points and is almost impossible to Dominate.

Model Citizen
Finish in top three without causing any collateral damage.

The easiest way to earn this trophy is to make a race with 6 pieces; 1 Start, 1 Straight and 4 Corners (no shortcut pieces) to make a oval track 2X3 on the grid and this should be easy. But if you're still having trouble, use the advanced editor to delete all the collateral from around the course then race it. There are a couple of things that break that you can't delete but things will be a lot easier this way.

Award Hogger
Receive 20 awards in one race.

Make a created race, make the track go around the outer edge of the grid. Place like 7-8 gas tankers on each straight side section of the track and than place RR Boost Breakables inbetween each of the tankers. (has to be a Domination event) Every now and then your power will run out just before hitting a tanker and you will crash. This is why you should place 28+ tankers to take into account of the other racers overtaking you and destroying some with their power. Each tanker is a award, combine that with your normal race awards and this trophy is yours.

If you're having trouble with the AI stealing more tankers then you can spare. I have a solution. AI in this game are kind of dumb, so if you use the advanced editor and place a unbreakable object going across the entire path blocking the starting line but place a jump that will clear the object to one side of the road for you to clear it, they are programmed to drive in the centre of the road and will take them a lot of valuable time to recover from the roadblock. By that time you should have an awesome lead on them.

You will earn over 100,000 points each time you race this track and this will help with getting to level 30

Creative Destruction
Destroy 25 targets in one event.

Check Award Hogger above for more information. The same created race will earn this trophy as well.

Dealing with Rage Issues
Destroy all targets and frag 5 racers in one match.

Yet again the City Creator will make getting this way easier then it should be. Make any track design that you want, but only use one shortcut track piece and turn it into a seven player race with three laps. Use the advanced editor and place a RR Bonus Boost somewhere close to the short cut. So when you start the race use the first two laps to take out 5+ racers with your power then on the third lap, pick up the boost and smash the shorutcut to earn this trophy.

Shattered Bay
Destroy one of every City Target in one game.

You can check to see which city targets you have missed from the main menu by selecting progress then award browser, then create a race using the track pieces that have the city targets you need, then race through and smash that/those targets. If you are having trouble with having a boost to use when you reach the target place a couple of RR Boost Bonus somewhere nearby with the advanced editor and try again and you could always give yourself a super class vehicle while making the AI drive the starting class vehicles so that way you're guaranteed to get the RR Boost Bonus first and smash the target/s.

Time Lord
Get three domination starts in all time Attack events.

Throughout Shatter Bay there are 9 time attack events where the only point of the race is hitting the time markers and getting to the goal fast. Find the best racing line, each time marker you hit freezes the timer for 2 seconds and gives you some boost.

A sloppy race by even the smallest means, will require you to restart the race

Only use the videos if your having trouble with that particular event as I have made
these for cross reference purposes only and watching them all will only delay you.

Fragging Ball
Multiplayer. Frag 10 cars in one 8 player Domination Race.

Look for or make an 8 player 5+ lap domination race this will give you ample opportunity to get 10 frags in 1 race. Inactivity makes this trophy unachievable without boosting it.

Domination Incarnate
Dominate all districts in Shatter Bay.

There are nine districts within Shatter bay and once you have driven in all races in a district with at least a top three finish in each, you will be rewarded that districts domination point once you have all nine district domination points you will receive the trophy for your effort.

Race Monster
Finish 1st in every Shatter Bay Domination Race.

There are 27 different Domination events in Shatter Bay and you will get this after earning 3 stars in each of them. Get the lead as early as you can so you can concentrate more on smashing City Targets.

Best In The World
Win all 5 events in any 8 player City Domination match.

Select Dominate the World, then multiplayer and select which race series you would like to do add your city to the pool. You then have to beat the other 7 racers in all 5 races and this trophy will be yours. Boosting will most likely be the only way your going to get this trophy because of 2 things. If a racer leaves half way through you will have to start over but that's even if you get 8 players in the lobby to start, with the game servers being inactive.
