[top]Roadmap

STEP 1: Play Story Mode on Casual and collect 11/17 of Jen's photos and all of the Dr. West's gammophone messages. You can not unlock Brutal difficulty until you finish the game on Casual or Savage Difficulty. I personally played on Savage as it yields more blood per attack. When you are upgrading Rick focus on upgrading Weapons and Health first. With the extra health and better weapons the enemies will drop in front of you easily.

STEP 2: Play Story Mode on Brutal difficulty and finish the game and make sure to complete all of the research tracks for Rick and also try to kill the enemies with fleshy arms or heads along the way. You do not need to worry about farming any trophies during the first two playthroughs as the game keeps an overall track for both Story Mode and the Survival Arenas.

STEP 3: Complete all of the Survival Arenas within the time limit to earn an S ranking on all 6 arenas. This task is not as hard as you think because you should have a fully upgraded Rick and great understanding that weapons (either fleshy or not) can make the rounds go back really quick. Check the Survival Arena trophies for more info. Basically use your + attacks often and weapons to finish each round in under a minute.

STEP 4: Now is the time to clean up and farm any kill trophies in the Survival Arenas or look for any missing pictures using the Chapter Select Option.

I Walk with Death
Complete the game on "Savage" difficulty (or harder).

[top]
Dreams of the Dead
Complete the game on "Brutal" Difficulty

BRUTAL Difficulty is unlocked after you finish Phase 12. Some tips for BRUTAL difficulty:

1. If you upgraded your weapons and health early then Brutal will be pretty simple, BUT every hit you take will drop your health big time;
2. The enemies are not any harder, the only difference for Brutal is the loss of health with each hit;
3. Use your Berserk Mode a lot, since you can now use to grab an enemies arm you can build your Necro Meter a lot quicker. Be sure to buy the enemy arm grab attack early;
4. Bosses are still predictable as the previous playthrough but you can now use + and it will destroy their health in seconds;
5. Continue to use your Splatterkills, it will fill two bars of the Necro Meter which leads to more killing.

[top]
Death Came Ripping
Kill an enemy with a Splatter Slash

The Splatter Slash attack unlocks at the end of Phase Four and gives Rick the ability to perform a Berserker type attack without actually going into Berserker Mode. It only takes one bar of the Necro Meter to perform the attack. Press + to perform the slash.

[top]
Razaor of Hell
Get 100 kills with Splatter Slash

The game does keep track of every kill you make with the Splatter Slash. Use the Splatter Slash regularly when surrounded because not only does it one hit kill your enemies but it replenishes some health. If you do not have 100 kills by the end of two playthroughs you can farm the kills in the Survival Arenas.

[top]
Must Kill
Kill an enemy with Splatter Smash

The Splatter Smash ability unlocks at the end of Phase Six. The attack destroys anyone surrounding Rick and lets loose a directional line attack forward where Rick is facing by pressing +. Same as Splatter Slash, you only need one Necro Meter bar filled to perform the attack.

[top]
Downpour of Blood
Get 100 kills with Splatter Smash

The game does keep track of every kill you make with the Splatter Smash. Use the Splatter Smash regularly when surrounded because not only does it one hit kill your enemies but it replenishes some health. If you do not have 100 kills by the end of two playthroughs you can farm the kills in the Survival Arenas.

[top]
Flesh Re-animation!
Regenerate with Splatter Siphon

Early in the game you will be introduced to the health replenishing attack Splatter Siphon. This attack will replenish your health quickly. Make sure you have at least one bar of the Necro Meter filled and press + to siphon the health of all enemies that are within the reach of Rick. Rick only needs to perform this attack once to unlock the trophy.

[top]
One Who Slays
Get 300 kills in Berserker Mode

Rick will unlock Berserker Mode at the conclusion of Phase Two. Once three bars of the Necro Meter have been filled hit to unleash hell onto your enemies. Every enemy you kill while in Berserker Mode will count towards your 300 kill total which the game keeps an active total either while you are playing or in the in-game menu. You will likely needs to farm this in the Survival Arenas.

[top]
Heavy Frikkin' Metal!
Get 50 kills with non-fleshy weapons

Pick up every weapon (chainsaw, shotgun, spiked 2x4, machete, lead pipe, bat, and sword) Rick comes across and kill everything you see on site. If you buy the weapon durability upgrades early then you will be able to keep your weapon around longer. 50 kills will come quickly.

[top]
Triumph of Iron
Get 500 kills with non-fleshy weapons

As long as you are continuously grabbing weapons during your playthroughs and in the Survival Arenas you will not have trouble getting to the 500 milestone. You can farm a great deal of them in the Survival Arenas, specifically West Mansion Lobby and The Slaughterhouse, due to the very high frequency of weapon drops.

[top]
See you at the Party
Kill an enemy with an enemy's arm

Once you purchase the "Tear You to Pieces" and "Call to Arms" skills this will make the two arm killing trophies a joke. Rick will need to approach a ghast or Forgotten Student and grab hold of the enemy and instantly Rick will grab their arm and now begin to swing the enemy arm at the weaker enemies. I would suggest farming this in the Survival Arena labeled "West Mansion Lobby" as you can grab the Ghast enemy and kill a lot of the enemies with 1-2 hits.

[top]
None More Dead
Get 150 kills with enemy arms

Once you purchase the "Tear You to Pieces" and "Call to Arms" skills this will make the two arm killing trophies a joke. Rick will need to approach a ghast or Forgotten Student and grab hold of the enemy and instantly Rick will grab their arm and now begin to swing the enemy arm at the weaker enemies. I would suggest farming this in the Survival Arena labeled "West Mansion Lobby" as you can grab the Ghast enemy and kill a lot of the enemies with 1-2 hits.

Tongue in Cheek
Kill an enemy with an enemy's head

Please see Head on Arrival

[top]
Head on Arrival
Get 50 kills with enemy heads

The best method to get 50 head kills is to either:

1. use a machete and chop the heads off a few enemies, drop the machete, and then throw the head at an enemy (purchase the Power Head Throw technique to make the damage worthwhile); or

2. Kill a Teratoid in the West Mansion Lobby Survival Arena and grab his head and go to town on the lesser enemies.

Either way it is going to take patience and if you have the weapon durability purchased you will get more bang for your buck.

[top]
The Blackest of Sundays
Splat 200 enemies on a wall with a weapon

The following is necessary: a blunt weapon and tight spaces. Also the smaller enemies are the best ones to fly towards the wall. Purchase both weapon durability upgrades to make the 2x4 and lead pipe weapons a force to use. The side-scrolling sections are best to accomplish this but also if you hit an enemy near a wall the enemy will go flying toward the wall. It will take a while to do this but you can farm this in the Survival Arenas.

Vigorous Vengeance :silver
Perform 150 Splatterkills

Beat the daylights of an enemy until the outline of his body is red. Run to the enemy and press to grab the enemy and perform the Splatterkill. Follow the on screen prompts for the gruesome demise sequence. If you continuously perform Splatterkills (it raises the Necro Meter quickly) you will earn around 75 per playthrough. By the end of the BRUTAL playthrough if you have not accomplished this feat then move on the Survival Arena to farm.

[top]
Morbid Dismemberment
Kill an enemy with your own dismembered arm

During Phase One the Teratoid will cut your own arm off and drop you down a level. Grab your arm and start swinging against the Homini. The arm is found near the green stasis tanks. The arm does not long so focus on one enemy and let it rip.

[top]
Brain Dead
Tackle an enemy and pummel it 20 times

There is only one enemy in the whole game that can be beaten this much and that is the Fish Folk you experience in Phase 7 or Phase 10. You will need to attack a Fish person that has not been damaged at all in order to make this work. You must have purchased the Tackle Pack upgrade and the Chubby Chaser attack (+) and then start punching.

Alternatively you can try using it against the Forgotten:

[top]
Bad Taste
Impale an enemy on a pike

Rick will earn this during Phase Two as he must grab a Ghast (using ) and then pressing to throw him towards the spike to make the chain move.

[top]
Army of Dead Evil
Kill 6 enemies within one second

The easiest way to earn this bad boy is to head to the first Survival Arena and wait until 6 enemies are near Rick and use +. The Homini and Ghast will fall immediately. Killing 6 enemies at once is not difficult and more likely you will earn this by accident so do not worry about it until the very end.

Visual method in Phase Nine near the end:

[top]
Headlong into Monsters
Kill 6 enemies in one ram attack

Purchase the Ram and Psycho Ram attacks to have Rick ram towards the enemies for a longer period. The best place to do this is during Phase Six. Make sure you see six Homini and hit and run.

POW!
Launch an enemy straight up with "No Head Room"

Rick will need to purchase the Uppercut Overdrive. The No Head Room combo attack is the one we need to perform for the trophy. Isolate a Ghast or Forgotten and hit and then hold to uppercut the enemy into the air.

[top]
Barrels of Blood
Get 2000 or more BLOOD Points in one chain of attacks

The best area to get this is during Phase Eight during the battle with the Mirror Ricks. You can perform a Splatterkill against one to earn the 2000 Blood or continuously kill the Mirror Ricks while in Berserker Mode. This location is the easiest one.

Boreworm Massacre
Stomp on 1000 Boreworms

Boreworms are found in any destructable object while playing through the game and carry over all playthroughs and the Survival Arena. So destroy everything you come across. Do not worry about farming the little buggers because 1,000 of them is quite a bit. The game will keep track of your kills in the upper right hand corner whenever you kill 100 of them. I was able to finish this task by Phase 10 of my first playthrough.

Get six S-ranks in Survival Arena mode

A S-Rank can be earned by completing all 20 rounds under that Survival Arena's time requirement. Here are the times and tips necessary.

TIMES NEEDED TO MEET THE S-RANK

West Mansion Lobby-12 minutes
Slaughterhouse-16 minutes
West Observation Room-23 minutes
Death Coaster-25 minutes
Shadow of the Wickerman-26 minutes
West Manor Chapel-20 minutes.

TIPS

1. Use weapons whenever the weapons drop and use them only against the weaker enemies to quickly dispatch them;
2. If no weapons are available then grab an enemies' arm and start swinging to build the Necro Meter;
3. You need to be constantly moving and on the offensive. Continue to use + attacks to quickly clear out the room and rebuild that Necro Meter every chance to get;
4. Do not attempt this until you have bought every upgrade. It will make life easy;
5. Do not waste time with Splatterkills; and
6. Do not get frustrated. The Arenas are simple and if you use your weapons and Splatter attacks it will be easy.

Accomplish 5 Secret Missions in a single Survival Arena attempt

Please see Too much Horror business

[top]
Too much Horror business
Accomplish all 10 Secret Missions in a single Survival Arena attempt

The best way to accomplish all of the Secret Missions is to go to the Slaughterhouse Arena. Do attempt this as a stand alone deal instead of trying to get a S rank. Do not use non-fleshy weapons at all. The game will only reveal to you when you have accomplished the secret mission but will not keep an active tracker so make a list of the 10 Secret Missions and mark off the ones you earn along the way to keep track. Here is a list and what needs to be done in order to accomplish each.

1. NO DAMAGE FOR 60 SECONDS- During Round 1 kill everything but one and then run around until the clock goes a full minute+ 5 seconds and then hit the last monster. The mission will then count it.

2. NO DAMAGE FOR 120 SECONDS- Same as the mission for 60 seconds. Except this time wait until you go for a full two minutes+5 seconds. You can do this in conjunction with the 60 seconds mission.

3. PERFORM 5 SUCCESSFUL SPLATTERKILLS- Do this early in Round 2, pummel each enemy with a few attack and then move until the bright red highlight surrounds the enemy. Grab him for the Splatterkill.

4. PERFORM 20 SUCCESSFUL SPLATTERKILLS- If you are constantly Splatterkilling enemies then you should receive this early in Round 3 or Round 4 Remember to attack lightly and then go for the ones that have the red highlight.

5. STOMP ON 20 BOREWORMS- Notice the brown boxes that fall into the arena, hit them open and then run over the boreworms. Keep doing this during the course of the other Secret Missions and you will have this in no time.

6. STOMP ON 50 BOREWORMS- Keep attacking the brown boxes and running over the the boreworms to earn the easier of the Secret Missions.

7. KILL 10 ENEMIES USING ANY FLESHY WEAPON- You need to grab a weaker enemy and take his arm and continue to attack. If you have the weapon durability upgrade then the arm will last for a while. Do this after the Splatterkills Secret Missions as more arms will be available. Remember the enemy must die because of the arm hitting him, not because of the loss of the arm.

8. KILL 25 ENEMIES USING ANY FLESHY WEAPON- Grab the weaker enemies and use their arms to kill the other weaker enemies. If you see the Slaughterhouse Forgotten (guys with the machetes) then use their arms as theirs are stronger and make quick work of the easier enemies.

9. KILL 25 ENEMIES DURING BERSERK MODE- Build the Necro Meter and use the Splatter Slash or Splatter Slam at the grouping of enemies to make quick work and continue to rebuild the Necro Meter. You do not need to fill it all the way each time but 3-4 bars are enough.

10. KILL 50 ENEMIES DURING BERSERK MODE- You will earn the final Secret Mission well before Round 20. Just focus on the smaller enemies while in Berserker Mode and you will rack up the kills quickly.

Unlock all pages of Dr. West's journal

To unlock West's Journal you must complete the two playthroughs in Story Mode, collect all collectables, buy all upgrades, and earn an S-Rank on all Survival Arenas. You need 1,440 points to achieve the full 100%. Here is the breakdown:

Mode Event Points
Story Complete a level on Coward 20 points
Story Complete a level on Savage 20 points
Story Complete a level on Brutal 20 points
Arena Earn a C-Rank 15 points
Arena Earn a B-Rank 15 points
Arena Earn a A-Rank 15 points
Arena Earn a S-Rank 15 points
Jen Photos Find 1 photo Piece 2.5 points
Skill Upgrades Purchase 1 Skill Upgrade 4 points

So if you beat the game on Coward you will earn 20 x 12= 240 points. So if you beat it on BRUTAL you will earn the 240+ another 240 because the points stack with the Savage story points. Same thing with earning a S-Rank in the arena, you earn the points all other Ranks. So if you get 100% completion on everything then you will earn 100% for West's Journal.
