[top]Introduction

Star Ocean The Last Hope is the final installment of the sci-fi inspired J-RPG series that has spanned multiple platforms since its original Japan only release in 1996. The Last Hope is a prequel to the previous games in the series so anyone that has not played the originals need not worry about feeling lost. The story follows "Edge maverick" and his travels throughout a post World War 3 reality. It has been announced that this will be the final installment in the series.

[top]Roadmap

Obtaining all trophies for Star Ocean The Last Hope International will most likely not be for the faint of heart. Although only 3 playthroughs are technically required to fulfil all difficulty requirements, it should be noted that the first of those 3 playthroughs on the "Galaxy" difficulty will be the more time consuming endeavor. Throughout its history Star Ocean has relied on a "Battle Trophies" system in game, these trophies require tasks to be completed to achieve in game rewards. Star Ocean TLHI will continue to rely on these objectives. It is these battle trophies that will require the bulk of gameplay time towards platinum status.

It is thus recommended that during the course of the initial playthrough the player simply complete the game without worring about collection quests or these Battle Trophies until the end. It is likely that many of these BTs will be acquired simply by playing normally. Once the player completes the initial run it is recommended that before beginning a 2nd game on a higher difficulty they complete as many BTs as possible. Please note that while Battle Trophies will carry over between playthroughs, counts will not. For example killing 4000 enemies may be a BT and once achieved it will not be erased upon starting a new game but the number of enemies killed will be. Hence if another BT that states "kill 8000" enemies is next in line you would have to then kill 8000 enemies in that new game instead of 4000 more.

General Tips:

The first time you get Lymle in your party buy and teach her the "Treasure Sense" skill book. It will show all chests / harvestables on the map and make the 100% treasure chests trophy much easier.

If you find yourself in a situation where you need more harvestable nodes simply return to your ship, the Calnus, and then re-emerge. All nodes should respawn allowing you to harvest them again. Repeat as needed.

Using the skill book "Critical Hit" can help keep the bonus board maxed out without spending time attempting blindsides.

Once you get to the bonus dungeons and the end of the game rush combos will save your life. In particular a mix of Bacchus' "Black Hole Sphere" and Edge's combo's will make quick work of otherwise difficult encounters. Couple this with the "convert" skill and you will have infinite MP to work with. Just make sure you have a healer like Sarah kicking around with some MP recovery gear of her own to hold the health high.

There are alot of synthesis guides kicking around from the xbox version of the game that state you can make +Exp items by "overstacking" something. This has been changed in the PS3 version of star ocean. The factors have been reversed so this trick no longer works.

Ultimate Battler
Obtain 100% of all battle trophies.

This is the what separates the true trophy hunters from the false ones. This trophy will take the majority of time spent on a Platinum for Star Ocean the Last Hope International. There are 100 Battle Trophies for each character leaving 900 total trophies to acquire for this Silver. I will put up a list of the battle trophies when I manage to unlock them all.

[top]
Monster Master
Collect 100% of all monster data.

To obtain this trophy you must fight each type of monster at least 1 time. You do not need to gain 100% on the monster knowledge meter required to make jewelry. This includes all Monsters in the Cave of the Seven Stars (See Gabriel Celeste trophy) and Wandering Dungeon (See Ethereal Queen trophy). This also includes group arena opponent #1.

[top]
World's Biggest Welch Fan
Create 100% of all possible items.

Step 1 to achieve this feat is to simply never ever throw anything out or sell anything that you may use in the future. This includes but is not limited to crafted items themselves as some will still find further crafting use.

To actually create an item you must either find a recipe or create one. Recipe creation is done by slotting characters together and using Party Skill Points. The room to do this is found on the Calnus directly across from the bridge.

Different combinations of characters will produce different recipes. In general a recipe for a character specific item will be found if that character is in the party (for example you'd expect a sword capable of Edge's use to be created with him in the party). In addition to that the type of skill you are trying to use (cooking, alchemy etc.) must be in the party as well. So if you want a forged weapon (Edge) for Faize you must have both in the creative process.

You cannot complete this feat (well not easily at least) without acquiring the duplication skill from floor 7 of the Cave of Seven Stars (See Gabriel Celeste trophy for details). The best way to go about this is to check off recipes as you make them. It is worth noting that you will be 3 recipe memo's short at endgame. The other 3 are collected in the Cave of Seven Stars and Wandering Dungeon after a complete playthrough.

I will attempt to compile a list of things I found it easier to duplicate then farm when I get to that point, this is one of those extremely time consuming trophies.

Things to duplicate: (its easier to farm magical clays then go find this crap again)
Moonstone
Dragon God's Scale
Star Ruby
Star Sapphire
Symbol Booster
Philosopher's Stone (lots of clays to do this), I'd probably just farm them in WD instead.

Note: You CANNOT duplicate Gabriel Celestes or the Ethereal Queens Feathers.

Complete Recipe List Below... (???????? - indicates recipe found but I haven't made it yet or been able to figure out what it is).

Below are some story sensitive considerations.

[top]
Treasure Hoarder
Open 100% of all treasure chests.

The biggest issue people have with collecting all the treasure chests is missing locations that cannot be returned to. Always ensure that your rings are fully charged before heading out and any issues with being unable to open a chest should be solved. Aside from that this trophy is pretty self explanatory and if you are thorough in your playthrough you should get this on the first go. I will list below problem chest locations / missable locations when I find them.

Missable Locations:
- Triom Village Gimdo's House (1 chest)
- Cardianon Mothership
- Subterranean City
- Control Tower
- Alternate Earth: Abandoned Town
- Alternate Earth: Military Facility

[top]
Dutiful Deliverer
Complete 100% of all quests.

100% of all quests includes all merchant orders. You cannot achieve this before you finish the game as you require the skill "duplicate" and that is found in a secret dungeon after completion.

There are 201 quests in this game and the only way to monitor which ones you have done is by placing a memorial plate on the Calnus. Even when you do this it only shows how many you've done. So I would recommend writing down which you complete or you'll end up like me with 200 completed and not a clue what one you missed.

Note: There are merchant orders found in the Wandering Dungeon that must be done for this trophy.

I am beginning to believe that the quest from a fallen soldier in Astral Caves is missable... be weary of this when you pass through.

[top]
Rapid Rabbit Wrangler
Earned 100 victories in class 100 bunny racing.

In order to make your bunny more competitive and have it win more you need to feed it pies to increase its attributes. I would max the attributes out before attemping this. Ingredients are all available on Roak or out of the Calnus' lil vending machine 2.

Once its stats are maxed you may start the races. You can sprint or jump and pound. I would recommend sprinting every 2 1/2 to 3 hops to not run out of stamina. I would only pound when another bunny is about to and you are using it as a defensive move. You also require battle coins to start these races (100 per hence the class). So you might wish to start at a lower difficulty until you get the hang of it.
