[top]Tips & Strategies

Collectibles and kills ONLY SAVE UPON REACHING A CHECKPOINT, so if you pick up any collectibles then happen to die mid-checkpoint you will have to pick them up again. Same goes for you overall kills for the X amount trophies

It also seems that many trophies are unobtainable in local co-op, as i keep receiving the "Trophy not earned" message during play so you will want to find yourself a decent online Co-Op partner to play with. The trophies I can confirm will unlock are Away Team: Mission Initiated, Away Team: Mission In Progress, Away Team: Mission AccomplishedI Have Been, And Always Shall Be, Your Friend
. I Did a whole fresh play-through in local co-op and was unable to unlock any weapon or collectible trophies.

Farming kills
Gorn Mothership - Punch A Hole. Proceed through the first area of the Mothership until you pass the Co-op door. You will reach a room with 2 security cameras one in front of you and one around the corner and some patrolling Gorn, take out the Gorn but leave the cameras alive. Now run between the cameras to trigger alarm and two Gorn (wielding Ravengers/Pillagers) and a single enemy drone will come through the door to the right of the Primary objective door. These Gorn will continue to re-spawn as long as the cameras are intact meaning you can farm most of the weapon kills here

Recommended Upgrades

Kirks Knockout Shot -
Buying this upgrade turns kirk into a one-hit, non-lethal, silent killing machine. This upgrade will get you through the stealth based commendations without a problem.

Research Helper - This upgrade for your tricorder does exactly what it says on the tin. Research helper highlights weapons, research items and audio logs while using the tricorder. Although i found it to be quite buggy with the research and audio logs its still a must have!

Sound Decoy - If you just don't feel like killing any Gorn, Why not just walk around them while they try to work out where that noise is coming from. Sound decoy allows you to place a sound trap by entering the tricorder and pressing It comes in handy while going for the stealth commendations allowing you to separate groups of enemies.

[top]Roadmap

Step One - Hard Mode
I would recommend doing your your first play through on HARD as there have been been reports that some users are not receiving Into Darkness through Co-op. So by getting hard out of the way first you remove the potential of having to play through the game a third time. Hard is by no means that hard, I collected all but a few of the collectibles and commendations on hard without much of a problem. As far as the general research items go you will encounter every weapon and enemy during your play through, just make sure you scan them all using your Tricorder Switching weapons often will also cut down on grinding time as the X amount of kills are reasonably numbered and are not too far fetched.

Step Two - Co-Op
For your second playthrough you will have to either find yourself a online partner, offline friend or you could play by yourself using two controllers. The latter gets boring very quickly but provides a few interesting moments while trying to hack the Co-Op consoles or navigating the wingsuit/space flight sections . A few things to keep in mind are that this does not have to be in one sitting, and that the chapters do not even have to be completed in order. As long as you have played through each chapter in its entirety thus will come naturally. Now as far as online partners go Star Trek retains each players individual difficulty setting so you could be playing on hard, but your partner will be on easy. Hence why there are many who have not received Into Darkness. Another problem point for me was the Local Co-op for some reason during my co-op run none of the kills i acquired counted towards the specific trophies so keep this in mind.

Step 3 Clean up
This may be required for any missing kill trophies or any collectibles that may have eluded you.

[top]Trophies

[top]
Conquer Star Trek
Acquired all Trophies

[top]
Beat Helios - 1
Completed the Helios-1 chapter on any difficulty

Story Related Cannot Be Missed
The introductory chapter to the game is easily completed as there is is very little challenge in the sense that there is little to no combat sequences and you will mainly be tasked with solving a few platforming sections and a Co-op action or two. Upon the destruction of Helios 1 this trophy will unlock.

[top]
Beat New Vulcan
Completed the New Vulcan chapter on any difficulty

Story Related Cannot Be Missed
During the second chapter of the game you will be exploring the Vulcan planet and it's laboratories, One of the things worth noting on this chapter is the battle against the "Unknown Gorn" (Gorn Brute). Be sure to shoot the power core before he throws them at you, and when he charges towards you the beat way to avoid it is with a quick roll using . The trophy will unlock dafter the last firefight when you get beamed aboard the Enterprise.

[top]
Beat Space Battle
Completed the Space Battle chapter on any difficulty

Story Related Cannot Be Missed
Now comes chapter 3 which is one of my favorite parts of the game the one and only space battle. A very quick chapter but challenging none the less. I have written guide on how to complete it easily under All Power to Forward Shields. Upon completing the space battle the trophy will unlock.

[top]
Beat Frontier Starbase
Completed the Frontier Starbase chapter on any difficulty

Story Related Cannot Be Missed
Chapter 4 tasks you with navigating a federation star base introducing an interesting team teleportation mechanic. The whole chapter is based around being stealthy and solving a few minor puzzles. And a short space flight sequence. The trophy will unlock upon being teleported back to the enterprise

[top]
Beat Volatile Cargo & Flashback
Completed the Volatile Cargo & Flashback chapters on any difficulty

Story Related Cannot Be Missed
A fairly short chapter which basically serves a boss battle against the Gorn lieutenant , which is actually a clever battle with you having to reveal the lieutenants cloaked position by using the fire extinguisher switches scattered around the area. Causing him to flea and you having to purse through the turbo lift tunnels, into the final part of the battle which takes place in the cargo hold. This trophy will unlock after you have initiated your Mind Meld with the lieutenant.

[top]
Beat Gorn Planet & The Trials
Completed the Gorn Planet & The Trials chapters on any difficulty

Story Related Cannot Be Missed
The Gorn planet contains a mixture of game play styles you have the exploration of the planet, A wing suit flight followed by some platforming and finished off with some covert style stealth action when sneaking into the Gorn base to lower the shield. You will also face of against a few new types of Gorn and their defensive technology. Overall its a relatively long chapter with only a few problem section which are easily overcome wit ha good mixture of stealth and cover. The trials chapter on the other hand is very short and straight forward the usual defeat a few waves of enemies and then a little surprise . Once you have been picked up by sulu this trophy will unlock.

[top]
Beat Enterprise Capture
Completed the Enterprise Capture chapter on any difficulty

Story Related Cannot Be Missed
This whole chapter is dedicated to exploring and taking back the enterprise from the Gorn, again stealth will play a large part here as you fight to reclaim your ship. Take back your ship to unlock this trophy.

[top]
Beat Mothership
Completed the Mothership chapter on any difficulty

Story Related Cannot Be Missed
The final chapter sees you taking the fight directly to the Gorn there are a few problem areas during this chapter such as the two arena style fights you'll encounter halfway through. Also the battle to destroy the core can be quite unforgiving on HARD as the mixture of turrent, Gorn and the tight time constraint can quickly take you and your partner down but get through that and the Gorn commander is a walk in the park. Once you have been beamed safely aboard the enterprise this trophy will unlock.

[top]
Well Done Captain
Completed the game on any difficulty setting

Story Related Cannot Be Missed
After the disappointingly easy battle against the Gorn commander sit back and watch the credits roll and you will unlock this trophy.

[top]
Into Darkness
Completed the game on hard difficulty setting

Star Treks Hard mode is your typical step up in challenge. The enemies hit harder your shield and health deplete at a much quicker rate. While the Hard difficulty isn't all that hard it does have a few problem areas especially when using the AI partner. you may find yourself having to baby-sit your companion as the AI really isn't that great. As an example if you get over-run and enter a downed state you partner will drop whatever he's doing and revive you regardless of how many enemies surround you often leading to you having to restart the checkpoint or if you accidently run in front of a turrent it'll mow you down then MR AI will come over and stand in front of said turrent to attempt to revive you, ultimately ending in his demise and yours. The key to hard difficulty is making use of all the provided cover. while precision aiming from cover leaves you wide open to attack firing from the hip with many of the weapons is just as accurate and efficient while you still remain protected. Make the most of being able to hack the Gorn turrents and drones as they will serve as useful deterrents and keep the enemies busy while you pick them off. Difficulty trophies stack so if hard was your first difficulty of choice you will also unlock Well Done Captain

[top]
Captain's Phaser Master
Kill 100 enemies with the Captain's Phaser

The "Captains Phaser" is Kirks starting weapon and is at his disposal at all times. It does not require ammo but can overheat if used continuously. You should easily be able to get 100 kills during the natural progression of the game.
Primary Fire - Semi-auto kill shot
Secondary Fire - Stun shot

[top]
Vulcan Repeater Master
Kill 100 enemies with the Vulcan Repeater

The "Vulcan Repeater" is Spocks starting weapon and is at his disposal at all times. It does not require ammo but can overheat if used continuously. You should be able to get 100 kills during your second play-through if Kirk was your first choice.
Primary Fire - 2 round burst kill shots
Secondary Fire - Stun Shot

[top]
Starfleet Phaser Rifle Master
Kill 50 enemies with the Starfleet Phaser Rifle

The "Starfleet Phaser Rifle" is first found in New Vulcan - Laboratories, It's carried by the infected federation members later on in the chapter. The Phaser Rifle is found throughout the game, generally around dead Starfleet members and they can occasionaly be found in the locked storage containers.
Primary Fire - 3 round burst fire
Secondary Fire - Deflector shield, Deflections use ammunition

[top]
Vulcan Pulse Cannon Master
Kill 50 enemies with the Vulcan Pulse Cannon

The "Vulcan Pulse Cannon" Is first found during you visit to New Vulcan and makes few appearances during the rest of the game. If you start the chapter Sureks Laboratories - New Vulcan you will automatically be equipped with the pulse cannon. so if you didn't collect enough kills during your two play-throughs Sureks labs give you a perfect farming opportunity.
Primary Fire - Full auto fire pulses
Secondary Fire - Wide range knock out stun burst

[top]
Starfleet Type III Rifle Master
Kill 20 enemies with the Starfleet Type III Rifle

The "Starfleet Type III Rifle" Is acquired during your visit to the Gorn planet and there are more than enough enemies to get the required 20 kills during your first run through. Also keep an eye out for ammo stations as the Type III rifle will run dry quickly.
Primary Fire - High powered single kill shot
Secondary Fire - Triple kill shot

[top]
Ravager Master
Kill 50 enemies with the Ravager

The "Ravager" is one of the first gorn weapons you'll be able to obtain, it is carried by the Gorn Initiates which appear in almost every chapter. Since the ravager is so widely available its not necessary to grind out all the kills in one place and is easy to collect 50 kills over your two playthroughs.
Primary Fire - Fully automatic plasma shots
Secondary Fire - Knockdown stun

[top]
Marauder Master
Kill 50 enemies with the Marauder

The "Marauder" is once of the most common Gorn weapons they are carried by the Gorn Enforcers and are allways dropped along with a plasma grenade. The Gorn Enforcers are found in every chapter after "The Arrival" Also they are commonly found in the many locked containers scattered throughout the game.
Primary Fire - Semi-automatic spread fire shots
Secondary Fire - Knock down grenade

[top]
Pillager Master
Kill 50 enemies with the Pillager

The "Pillager" Is dropped by Gorn Warriors which you will first encounter during your visit to the Gorn Planet, and is fairly common on most chapters. A good place to farm these kills is during Gorn Mothership - Punch A Hole. Proceed through the first area of the Mothership until you pass the Co-op door. You will reach a room with 2 security cameras one in front of you and one around the corner and some patrolling Gorn, take out the Gorn but leave the cameras alive. Now run between the cameras to trigger alarm and two Gorn (wielding Ravengers/Pillagers) will come through the door to the right of the Primary objective door. These Gorn will continue to re-spawn as long as the cameras are intact meaning you can farm most of the weapon kills here before you continue with the story.
Primary Fire - Fully automatic projectiles
Secondary Fire - Spread shot

[top]
Railer Master
Kill 50 enemies with the Railer

The "Railer" weapon is carried by the Gorn Technicians, It's a charge rifle requiring a good amount of accuracy to charge a shot hold down First found during the "search for a cure" chapter and are fairly common in the following chapters, so again as long as you don't simply ignore it you will have ample opportunities to collect the 50 kills needed during your 2 playthroughs.
Primary Fire - High powered charge shot that requires pinpoint accuracy. Damage varies depending on the length of the charge.
Secondary Fire - Drone Transport beacon. An attack drone teleport instantly and will attack any enemies targets in the vicinity.

[top]
Striker Master
Kill 20 enemies with the Striker

The "Striker" is the Gorn equivalent of a sniper rifle. It is carried by the Gorn Strikers during your visit to the Gorn planet and is near unmissable as you will encounter these wall huggers through the progression of the story. But keep in mind that this weapon is exclusive to the Gorn Planet, Which shouldn't be a problem racking up 20 kills during your two playthroughs.
Primary Fire - Single shot high velocity, high damage projectile
Secondary Fire - Knockdown shot

[top]
Arc Driver Master
Kill 50 enemies with the Arc Driver

The "Arc Driver" Is my personal favorite weapon as the secondary fire is like a mini nuke and will take out large groups with no effort. The arc driver is dropped by the Gorn Guardians which you will only encounter in the later chapters of the game during your visit to the Gorn planet.
Primary Fire - Focused beam of energy that causes mass destruction
Secondary Fire - Launches slow moving missiles that will effectively take out entire platoons of enemies

[top]
Plasma Grenade Master
Kill 20 enemies with the Plasma Grenades

This is by far the easiest of the weapons kill trophies, The Plasma Grenade is extremely effective at taking out groups of enemies. With a fairly decent blast radius, the Plasma Grenade will 1-hit most enemies.

[top]
Weapon Experimenter
Connect every weapon's alternate fire with enemies

There are 11 Weapons which will require you to use the secondary fire by pressing . Note that the secondary fire HAS to make contact with the enemy to count. The secondary fires are:
  • Captains Phaser - Stun Shot

  • Starfleet Type III Rifle - Triple kill shot

The Whole Story
Found all audio logs

There are a total of 36 audio logs hidden throughout the chapters of Star Trek all of which are in fairly obvious places and do not require much hunting. Purchasing the research helper upgrade for the Tricorder will show the location of any collectibles in your vicinity. The locations of all audio logs are included in my collectible guide under Fascinating

Fascinating
Found all research items

Ive compiled a text guide of all chapter specific collectibles in the game, except for Weapon and Enemies data as you will get these naturally as you progress through the game. I had in fact recorded the whole video guide but due to the Hdd on my capture rig dying I have lost all of it and have had to resort to an indepth text guide. I have color coded each type of collectible to make navigating it a bit easier.

Away Team: Mission Accomplished
Complete all chapters in co-operative play

To get the all 3 Co-op trophies you will have to play all the way through the game in either Local or Online Co-op. Keep in mind that this doesn't have to be in one sitting or even with the same co-op partner and you can play the chapters in whatever order you want as long as you play each one from beginning to end. I have had many issues with unlocking trophies during local co-op so finding a partner using the boosting thread is going to save a lot of time and hassle.

Technologic
Cleared 30 mini-games including co-operative hacks, bypasses, and power reroutes

During the main story you will encounter 3 types of mini game needed to progress or hack cameras/turrents/mines.

Decipher Signal - To Decipher the signal you will assume control of either the left or right analog stick to match the frequency with your partner. The left side must match the frequency of the lock while the right side will have to keep the cursor in the center of the circle to fill the progress bar.

Core Deploy - Initiated by hacking this mini game tasks you with matching pairs of frequencies using both the left an right analogue stick's simply match the four pairs to Finnish the mini game

Bypass - To Bypass mines you will have to bridge a single line on the grid between a circle node and a single square node without touching the edge of the grid, doing so will set off mine as you prgress further into the game these will increase in difficulty and increase the amount of circle nodes needed to join the square node.

[top]
Non-Lethal Master
Took down 30 enemies in a non-lethal manner

Stealth take-downs can be approached in two ways, Firstly you can sneak up behind an enemy who hasn't noticed you at which point you will be prompted to tap to take them down. Secondly you can just use the secondary fire of kirks phaser or spock vulcan repeater, to stun the enemy run up to them and tap to take them down.

[top]
Dagger of the Mind
Performed Mind Meld on 10 different enemies

Mind Melds can only be performed if you play as Spock and only on certain enemies, You will know if a mind meld can be performed by looking for a blue head symbol in the Tricorder. If your having trouble finding 10 enemies during your Spock play through simply load up the final chapter of the game and head for the first two objectives, Standing next to each of the two terminals is an enemy that can melded. Entering the acquired codes into the two terminals will trigger a checkpoint, at which point you can quit to the main menu and repeat.

[top]
Live Long and Prosper
Revived your teammate (AI or co-op player) 20 times

You'r almost guaranteed to get this during your two play-through due to the AIs suicidal tendencies, Simple revive your partner 20 times to earn this trophy. If you are having trouble getting this Enter Tricorder mode and press while your pointer is over an enemy to send your partner into groups of enemies. The last chapter provides a good place to farm revives.

[top]
All Power to Forward Shields
Complete the Space Battle with a hull integrity of 85% or more

This is the only trophy in the game that may cause you some difficulty. The whole space battle is scripted and as such you can learn the formation and spawn locations of all enemies ships. Also make note of the fact that you cant raise your shields and fire at the same time. Whenever you see enemy fire coming towards you shield up. If your having trouble targeting the enemy ships raise the aiming sensitivity which makes the tactical manoeuvre even more deadly as you'll have those few extra seconds to target. The mini map radar is extremely useful if you ever lose track of the smaller ships Here's a quick breakdown of the battle for you.

Fires Phasers
Fires Photon Torpedo
Raise Shield
Tactical Manoeuvre

First wave
From the start of the space battle there will be two of the small enemy ships directly in front of you towards the bottom left of the Larger Gorn ship. Next another two Small ships will appear from the larger ship to the left and will loop around to pass in front of you
My shield Total 100%

Second Wave
You will first have to deal with the tactical tutorial, take out the larger ship using tactical to continue. Now for the fun part you will be attacked from the from and back simultaneously by two groups of two small ships. Luckily for me my cpu partner was actually quite useful during this section and took out one from each group. Next comes another big ship which will fire torpedoes towards you that can be destroyed with now take out the big ship with either or tactical.
My shield total 92%

Third Wave
Thankfully there is a checkpoint here for the last encounter so if your shields drop below 85% just hit restart checkpoint. This wave begins with Four kamikaze ships (My cpu partner would allways shoot down the first one) Raise your shields just before they hit. You will notice that one hit from these completely drains your shields but dont worry you only need a small amount of recharge to shield against the next two. Now you will see one of the big ships approaching from the top right of the screen take it out quickly with one torpedo and a few bursts of it'll also help if you take out the torpedoes fire by this first big ship . Now for the tricky bit you will have to face 4 small ships and a big one. One group of small from the far left and one group on the far right with the big one in the middle. This is where having the aiming sensitivity set to max really helps out. Enter tactical from the two ships on your left in one sweeping motion you can mark all 5 ships in one tactical and your done
My shield total 87%

Are You Not Entertained?
Win the brawl against your buddy in "The Trials" chapter

This Trophy is exremly easy as i got it during my first play-through on Hard. During the "Trials" chapter you will be forced to fight to the death with your partner. Simply press to throw a punch repeat around 5 five times and you will win the duel and collect another easy trophy.

[top]
Get to the Shuttle!
After the brawl, escape in less than 6 minutes in "The Trials" chapter

After completing the duel against your partner you will have to escape the planet. Which means clearing an extraction point for your shuttle to land. You will encounter 4 Gorpion nests then enter a firefight with a few waves of gorns which is made all the easier as you will be able to call in airstrikes by entering the tricorder and holding . Chances are you will accomplish this without even trying.

[top]
Honorary Commendation
Complete half of all Optional Objectives

See Exemplary Commendation

[top]
Exemplary Commendation
Complete all Optional Objectives

During the main story you will receive optional objectives known as Commendations, These mainly consist of two types Stealth and do not kill any infected all of which are quite straight forward. For the stealth commendations use Kirks knockout shot upgrade to silently take out everybody with ease and for the No kill commendations use the Stun () and () to take out all infected starfleet officers. There are a total of 22 commendations, the progress of which ones you have completed can be found on the chapter select screen under each individual mission.

[top]
Go Team!
Kill or take down an enemy that your teammate (AI or co-op player) has stunned

Whenever you face the infected federation enemies your AI Co-op partner will always opt for a non lethal take down. I found that almost every infected I encountered would be stunned immediately by my AI partner. You will know when they have been stunned as they will shine blue, all you have to do then is run up to them and tap to perform a take-down. Or alternatively once your partner has stunned the enemy fire off a few rounds into them.

[top]
My Robot Friend
Hack an enemy drone to your side and have it kill another enemy

Gorn Drones are extremely common throughout the game, and vaguely resemble a flying Metapod. To hack a drone stun it using once stunned enter your tricorder and hold to have it fight for you. You only need your drone to kill a single enemy for this trophy to pop.

[top]
I'll Cover You!
Order your teammate (AI or co-op player) and have him complete 5 bypasses in a row

You will have plenty of opportunities to get this during later chapters of the game. To order your partner to perform a bypass highlight the object in your tricorder and press . You can bypass many items throughout the game including. Turrents, Security Cameras and Mines.

[top]
One Man Army
Kill 3 enemies while your teammate (AI or co-op partner) is in a downed state

During any firefight there is a chance that your partner will get into a "Downed state" where you have a limited amount of time to revive them. When this happens just take out three enemies before reviving your partner. You will have a LOT of chances to do this during your Hard playthrough as the AI partner just loves to stand point blank in front of turrents for some reason.

[top]
Down but not Out
Kill 3 enemies while in a single downed state

When both you shields, and your health have depleted you will enter a "downed" state where you have a limited amount of time to be revived by your partner. Once you enter a downed state you will only have use of your primary weapon but that is more than adequate for this trophy, simply take out three enemies in a SINGLE downed state. you'll likely get this without even trying.

[top]
Arena
As Kirk, get a Gorn enemy to melee you

There are many opportunities during the game to get this, but the earliest and quickest place would have to be during Sureks laboratories - New Vulcan. While progressing through the level you will eventually encounter a Boss battle against an "unknown" Gorn (Gorn Brute). During the first part of the battle he will attempt throw power cores at you which you can counter by shooting before he throws them. After shooting the core form his hands twice he will begin his close up assault, Simply run up to him and he will melee you.

[top]
I Have Been, And Always Shall Be, Your Friend
As Spock, bleed out during a downed state, leaving Kirk alone and failing the mission

This trophy is very to quick and simple to achieve using local co-op. Just load up any chapter playing as Spock, enter a firefight get yourself into a downed state and then wait until you reach the mission failed screen where the trophy will unlock. I found local co-op best for this as the AI would allways revive me just before I bled out.
