Hardcore mode is not unlocked by completing classic mode, but before. I have completed hardcore mode but not yet classic mode.

Yeah, you're absolutely right. Mixed something up there. I fixed it now, thanks for the heads up!

Great guide, thanks! It's very useful. But i canīt find one collectible from the chapter "Clown Shoes". This:

After the birds you will have mutants crawling out from under two trailers. After the second trailer watch out for a comic book page in a box.

Can you explain it a little more, please?

Just a little tip also for the score mode and combos for the challenges, the Mini Gun is really helpful.

I've noticed that you can miss shots for a split second or two and it won't make you lose your combo. You also need to know the level layout obviously but the Mini Gun is definitely the gun I would recommend when attempting these challenges.

    Working On:
"Fallout: New Vegas [Ultimate Edition]" - 59%,
    "Devil May Cry 3" - 14%,
    "Dead Storm Pirates" - 52% (3/5 S Rank)

Since you also said we should list our S Rank scores, here's what I got:

Scream Train = 134k (but it was a perfect run with extra mutants)

    Working On:
"Fallout: New Vegas [Ultimate Edition]" - 59%,
    "Devil May Cry 3" - 14%,
    "Dead Storm Pirates" - 52% (3/5 S Rank)

I just got the platinum for House of Dead: Overkill and I thought I'd share how to get it:

Play a normal game, no extra mutants, no hardcore mode.
I would definitely recommend playing with Extra Mutants because I have found that it gives at least a 10-20k cushion for your score if you play correctly whereas you pretty much have to nail everything perfectly without them.

It seems like collectibles are not that important for you rank, so only shoot them when you are 100% sure you won't miss.
I would also advise against getting collectables, however, I found that the posters give 2k so if you can get these definitely try to get it.

Your score is the most important thing, you need a long kill chain for an S rank. If you screw up just restart, no need to waste time.
This is not necessarily true and I would advise against this because it can be very frustrating to go through the whole game with no mistakes and keep starting over. The only level that I did this for was Scream Train and I hated it haha. I found that you can make one (and sometimes two) mistakes and still get S rank as long as you can built your goregasm back up quickly.

I think survivors are important, I never got an S rank if a survivor died, no matter my score.
This one is not true either. I constantly let survivors die if it takes too much trouble to save them. Getting a 5k bonus for saving them is not as important as keeping your combo going (especially if you have Goregasm).

**Another note I would say is to use the Minigun. It's accuracy is not 100% which allows you to miss shots and still keep your combo going. I've heard that a lot of people use the combat shotgun but I only use it when hitting projectiles.

Also, here's my S Rank scores:
    Papa's Palace of Pain = 169k
    Naked Terror = 126k
    Ballistic Trauma = 219 k
    Carny = 307k
    Creeping Flesh = 129k
    Scream Train = 134k
    The Fetid Waters = 254k
    Jailhouse Judgement = 223k
    Overkill = 252k

(My scores are a little high because I pretty much perfected all the levels but you should shoot for scores that are close)

    Working On:
"Fallout: New Vegas [Ultimate Edition]" - 59%,
    "Devil May Cry 3" - 14%,
    "Dead Storm Pirates" - 52% (3/5 S Rank)

having severe troubles in handling the HISCORE CHALLENGES
i just cannot maintain a long GOREGASM with auto shotgun and Gwendolyn
when i focus on shooting, i miss; when i focus on aiming, i get hit
so either way i lose combo
should i try the minigun, or just improve my skills by repeating again and again?

I think obtaining and maintaining a Goregasm with the minigun takes some skill and practice as well... just give it a try and see if the minigun suits you. The only other advice I can give you is to keep practising Try to memorize the spawning patterns and learn when to reload, you don't wanna lose a combo because you decided to reload your shotty at the wrong time.... or where forced to reload because you ran out of ammo. Good luck

    thanks for your advice
switching shotgun to Gwendolyn at the right time saves my getting hit
but shotgun spray sometimes just go through the crowd while mutants wavering
and i miss more often when 5 or 6 mutants rush to me, i shoot the first one, and i've no idea on which side of the screen will the following ones come up
surely with more practice and memorization i can beat the challenge, but now i'm ranning out of patience
