[top]WARNING

As of right now, there are some glitched trophies.

Difficulty - When completing the game on Normal or Hard, all other difficulty trophies below them should unlock. Should they not though, replay the last chapter and watch all of the credits. The trophies should pop after that.

Collectibles: There are two different kinds of glitches here, one good and one bad.
Good - For some reason, when you have collected either all comics, pendants, manuals or artifacts, not only will the corresponding trophy pop, but the trophy Scavenger will pop as well.

Bad - Sometimes, you can collect all the items, and the corresponding trophy won't pop. This usually happens if you try to look for them via chapter select.

In this case, start a game on new game + and collect again.

More glitches coming soon.

[top]Tips & Strategies

All collectibles SHOULD carry over into NG+, even if you do your game on Normal, then switch your NG+ to Survivor. This can however glitch so that the trophies do not pop. All collectibles do respawn though except manuals, so try to remember which ones you are missing. You can also go to chapter select BEFORE starting a new game to see what you are missing in what chapter.

All upgrades carry over from different game plays. The only thing is, the weapons do not. But if you upgrade, lets say the flamethrower, when you acquire the flamethrower in the next run, it will have all upgrades from before.

Check everywhere in the game before moving on to another location. Hidden and scattered all over the maps are supplies, tools, weapons and collectibles.

Don't walk to far ahead of Ellie or anyone you are walking with. This way cause you to accidentally miss out on an optional conversation.

Use every chance you get (unless you are on survivor, then you can't), in which case, be really slow and stealthy.

Upgrading Joel: Collect supplements as you find them. As you upgrade Joel, his health, crafting speed and healing speed will increase, making things a bit more easier.

Shiv Doors: Look for these doors throughout the game. You will need a Shiv to open them, but what's behind them will help you out. There is usually crafting supplies, ammo and health.

Safes: These are not needed, but come in handy. You will occasionally run into a safe in the game. To unlock the safe, you will need to find the artifact with the combination on it. The safe usually has ammo, supplements and crafting items.

Work Bench: These are found around in the game. They are not really to hidden, so you can find them pretty easily. Here is where you will want to upgrade your weapons as long as you have the tools and parts.

Swimming: While you are in deep water, you can swim and press to dive. To come back up you will need to press . By your health meter a blue bar will appear indicating your air. Don't stay under to long or it will start to take away from your health and then kill you.

Tools: Tools help you upgrade weapons along with parts. While at a work bench you will see the number of tools and parts. There are 5 tools all together that you will need to find to fully upgrade your weapons.

Parts: Parts can be found all over the place. Be sure to collect every single one you can.

Crafting supplies: pick everything up. Make things, then pick more up. The items you can craft will come in hand.

[top]Roadmap

There are two different roadmaps you can use.
Roadmap Option 1

Step 1: Start the game on Hard.
You don't have to start the game on Hard, as unlocking Survivor can be done when beaten on Normal. I recommend Hard so that when you play on Survivor, it's not that big of a jump. During this run you will want to collect Artifacts, Comics, Pendants, Shiv doors, do the optional conversations. pick up the 5 tool kits and Ellie's jokes. This is so that on Survivor you only have to worry about getting through the game.

Do the same here as in Step 2.

Play one game of Survivor and one game of Supply Raid to earn the trophy Knowing the basics
While going for the trophies Hunter and Firefly you should be able to obtain the trophy Populance

To fully upgrade Joel, you will need to collect supplements. Supplements can be either a bottle of pills or a plant found through out the game. You can identify supplements when you see above an item. Each upgrade cost a bit more then the last and it will most likely take you 2 playthroughs to fully upgrade.

For Emergencies Only
Fully upgrade all weapons

As you collect weapons, you will be able to upgrade them to make them more powerful. You will need to find parts and the tool for each level.

When you have a decent amount of parts and tools, find a work bench. Work benches can be found throughout the game and they are mostly out in the open, so it's not hard to miss one.

Once you have all the weapons, upgrade the weapons you find later on in the game before the earlier ones. This will save you some time as you wont have to go and play a whole playthrough again.

Ellie's Jokes #3: When you get to the area where the street is flooded and you see the hunters crossing into the hotel, turn around and walk back. Go over to the posters on the wall and talk to Ellie about them. Then go to the other side from the posters and wait for Ellie to walk around come over. Again, out comes the book, so press to listen.

Ellie's Jokes #4: Once inside the hotel, first grab the ladder and place it up against the wall. Climb up the ladder and go to the right and shimmy on the little ledge. Pick up the artifact that has the safe combination on it and then jump back down. Go behind the counter and open the safe. Obviously, you will need to complete all 12 chapters in the game.

Tips:
  • Listen Mode: (Not available on Survivor) Press and hold to activate listening mode. With this, you can see walking enemies and any enemies making sound through walls. This comes in hand when you are try to get through an area and don't want to be caught or to help you sneak up on the enemy. The distance for hearing can be upgraded by upgrading Joel with supplements.
  • Using Cover: Anything like short walls or objects can be used to cover you from enemy fire. Press to crouch down behind the object. You can press to aim over the object and just release to drop back down.
  • Stealth Mode: If you can silently sneak up on an enemy from behind, you can press to kill them with stealth.. The enemy will try to break free, but if you press you will strangle them and if you press again you can kill them with a shiv (if you have one on you).
  • Bottles and Bricks: All around the game, you can find bottles and bricks lying around. You can use these to throw at an enemy to either stun them or distract them. You can hit an enemy with them as well like you would a weapon.
  • Crafting: Collect different types of ingredients found all over the place to craft weapons, bombs and health kits. Press select and if you have enough of each item you can craft by holding down
  • Melee Weapons: Any time you come across a melee weapon ( boards, baseball bat, pipes) pick them up. They make your combat attacks much more powerful then just using your fist. Pay attention to the little bars at the bottom though, cause each weapon only has a certain number of hits before you can no longer use it.
  • Distracting Enemies: If there are several enemies around, try throwing a bottle or brick at them. The enemies will head over to the sound of the bottle/brick landing, giving you time to sneak up on them or past them. After throwing though, don't stand to long there as most times they come over to where you are.
  • Items: Anytime you come across crafting items, collect them. They can be on the floor or inside things, so check everything. Every draw, every locker, anything that has a by it. The more you have the better, although you can only hold a certain amount. When you are full on supplies, start crafting to make more room for more items.
  • Health: Always watch your health. Look for items to make health kits or health items. Sometimes when your health is low, Ellie will give you a health kit. Don't let your health get low because when in a fight, you won't have time to heal. Enemies can attack you while you are using a health kit.
When playing as Ellie
  • Using David: When either a runner or a clicker has David, you can run up behind them and knife them. This will be a one hit kill.
  • Conserve Ammo: Try and conserve your ammo. Throw either a bottle or a brick at an infected then rush in to one hit kill them with your knife.
  • Crafting: There are some areas that will be some what hard. Collect crafting items as you see them to craft things such as the Molotov cocktail and nail bomb.
  • Weapons: It is sometimes likely that you will find a shotgun or handgun on a dead enemy. Collect these if you do find them as they will make things a bit easier. You will also have your bow on you.

Knowing the Basics
Win a game of Supply Raid and Survivors in Find Match

Supply Raid: Based on what you chose as your faction in the beginning determines what side you will be on. Here you will need to scavenge for supplies to keep your clan healthy and up in numbers. Each team has a total of 20 lives. The game will go into sudden death when that total of 20 has been reached. In sudden death, the team in it can no longer respawn. Anything crafted or found will carry over once you respawn. The game ends when all team mates are down with no respawns left.

Survivors: Unlike supply raid, there is no respawning during the round. Once all 4 members on a team have been defeated, or time runs out, a new round will begin. Nothing carries over between rounds either. This is a best of 7 matches, meaning you can play as little as 4 games, or play all 7 of them. The team with the most wins will be declared the winner.

So just one of each these matches,

[top]
Populace
Build your clan to 40 people in Factions

This can be easy, but at the same time can be difficult. This is based around how good you are and how good your team is. You get survivors when you win matches, and the more food and supplies you get helps keep them around. The more survivors you get, the more food and supplies you will need. You can lose survivors due to not having enough food and supplies as they will get sick and hungry. You can also lose anywhere from 1 to all your survivors based on the challenges that pop up. Just keep killing the opposite team and collect food and supplies.

Supplies look like . You will get them by killing enemies or assisting in the kill. You can also get supplies by the number of parts you have left after each match. The extra parts are converted into supplies.

**This trophy is known to glitch when you reach 40 people. The only known fix for it right now is just to keep getting more clan members and it will eventually pop**

Firefly
Complete the Firefly Journey

There are two different factions you can join.

Hunters: Hunters are mainly people made up of survivors. Extremely resourceful they often craft weapons and equipment from anything they can find. They are very loyal and only want to keep their clan alive and increase the numbers. They will kill anyone trying to get in on their resources or territory.

Fireflies: They are an organized militia group that were kicked out of the quarantine zone. They believe there is a cure and will do anything to keep this belief alive. They will take in anyone who supports their ideas but will not tolerate those who are against it.

and there are two different kinds of multiplayer you can play

Supply Raid: Based on what you chose as your faction in the beginning determines what side you will be on. Here you will need to scavenge for supplies to keep your clan healthy and up in numbers. Each team has a total of 20 lives. The game will go into sudden death when that total of 20 has been reached. In sudden death, the team in it can no longer respawn. Anything crafted or found will carry over once you respawn.

The point of this is to reach 12 weeks. That's 12 weeks 7 days to be exact. You reach this far by gaining survivors and keeping them all alive. You can have as little as one survivor and pass. If, however, you reach week 12, day 6 and lose all your survivors, you will have to restart for Day 1. Throughout your journey, you will have to complete missions, or challenges. If you fail these missions/challenges, it can greatly reduce your clan or take it away all together.
**Tips:**

Supply Boxes: There are supply boxes scattered all over each map. These boxes contain items that will come in use throughout the games. You can get items to craft weapons (molotovs, nail bombs, shivs) as well as items for Health kits. Sometimes you can get ammo and melee weapons as well. Depending on where you are on the leaderboards (1-4) depends on the number of items you get. If you are number 4, you will get a lot more out of a supply box then you would if you were in 1st place.

The Store: There is a *store* when you press select, then to access the store. Here is where you can buy things when you have enough parts. You are vulnerable when in the store so be careful.

Events: Events are random and they last 3 days. Completing these events will earn you different rewards based on level completion. If you fail these events, your clan will pay. You can lose all of your clan if not watched. Anytime it says *100% risk*, you will need to complete the mission you chose by the third day. There are normal events and cataclysmic events.

Events
  • Marauder Attack
  • Hostages Taken
  • Friendly Survivors Found
  • Rescue Allies
  • Dysentery Outbreak
  • Malaria Out break
Cataclysmic Events
These are the events you need to watch for. These events are the ones with the risk factor involved. There is only one of these, but it pops up on 5 different weeks.
  • Week 6
  • Week 8
  • Week 10
  • Week 11
  • Week 12
Here, you will NEED to win the missions you chose. Thankfully, you get to chose the mission you want, so it is highly suggested to save easier ones that you know you can do for these times. During the cataclysmic events, you want to reach higher tiers to lesson the damage on your clan.
