[top]Introduction

Okay, let me start off by saying that this game is pretty f**ked up. The Swamp Witch Metallia constantly curse and curse at everybody she sees, and her only plan is to make life miserable for those around her... and she is one of the main protagonists. You don't get to control her though. You control a blob of darkness called "Hundred Knight". This cute little fella, while not the brightest guy, is a ever-evolving and ever-adapting warrior.

The game is a top down hack-slash-looter game a la something like Diablo. It features lengthy dialogues, multiple endings, many bosses, and a complex battle system.

Here is your stereotypical japanese trailer for it:

[top]Tips & Strategies

What You Need to Know About This Game:

Basic Combat:

The basic attack is as said . This is for the usual attacks. There are no real different elemental attacks in this game, however, there are different weapons and some enemies are immune to some weapons, while some enemies are especially weak against some weapons, so watch out for the indication after attacking an enemy. It can say either "Ineffective", "Hardly Effective", "Effective", "Very Effective", or not say anything at all, since the enemy will be neither immune or weak against the attack.

Attacking also drains your stamina, so you can't perform attacks if you completely tire out.

It's important to note the enemies attacks. This may sound obvious, but if you just try to hack'n'slash through the game, you are going to have a rocky ride. This isn't God of War. You need to dodge and strike at the right times, and learn the simple attacks of the enemies you fight.

Blocking and Dodging:

You can block enemy attacks by pressing and holding . This takes stamina, and you will still take damage, but way less than before.

You can also choose to dodge instead. You tap to do this. The way you move determines what way you dodge. This requires timing, but you will not get hit. If you dodge at the exactly right time, you will get a mystical dodge that makes time slow down for 15 seconds.

Chain Attacks:

In the menu screen, you can press the "Equip" section. Here you can equip up to 5 weapons. These are chain attacks. If you have more than one weapon equipped you can string attacks by repeatedly pressing . You can see the rates at the equip screen. If the weapon has a big enough rate, you will perform chain attacks, which adds extra damage.

Special Attacks (AP attacks):

If you press you will perform a special attack. This takes both stamina and AP, and you will need to use it carefully. What attack you perform depends on what starting weapon you have, and to figure out which one you like the best, you will just have to do try out the different attacks.

Facets:

Facets unlocks after the first three chapters. They can be applied at Metallia's hut. These are basic loadouts that can be applied. They will have an effect on attack power (ATK), health (HP), Defense (DEF), how much damage other weapons do, and have different perks. You may want to build a heavy-hitting tank, or an agile rogue. Whatever you choose there is a facet for it. With the exception of one, which you will have to buy from the bucket list, all of the facets will be gotten through story.

You can choose one facet as your main facet and up to two other facets as subfacets. Most of what the main facet says, goes, but it can be mildly influenced by the subfacets. Remember that every facet starts from level one, and are not strong when first applied.

HP:

HP means Health Points in good old japanime games. And it is basically how much damage you can withstand before getting knocked out. Now, health is lowered every time you get hit by an obstacle or an enemy. If you lose all of your HP, you will, depending on the amount of GigaCal spawn either at the nearest pillar or return to the base.

AP:

AP, is your attribution points. This is your magic. This allows you to do things such as special attacks and Chaos Revelation. Every time you do an AP attack you take off a bar, and Chaos Revelation empties the whole thing. To replenish the AP, you simply need to damage enemies.

GigaCal:

GigaCal is the timer of every level. As soon as you enter a level the counter begins to tick down. It does it at different speeds after what activity you're doing. If you're just standing still it will take hours for it to run out, but it will go quicker when exploring uncharted map parts, get hit, attacking, running out of stamina, and other stuff. Running out of GigaCal doesn't mean a game over. When the timer runs out your health depletes automatically and your ATK and DEF goes down. If you die while having run out of GigaCal, you will not respawn at the nearest pillar, but get kicked out to the world map. The only way to replenish GigaCal is by consuming enemies or special items.

Your Stomach:

The Stomach is pretty much your inventory screen. For every time you enter a different location your stomach gets emptied. You can only hold a certain amount of items, and you can see how far you're filled up in the "Stomach" section of the menu.

Consuming Enemies:

If you look at the health of the enemies, you will see on some of them, there is a small indentation. If the health drops below that but does not kill the enemy you can approach the enemy, press + and then just mash triangle a bunch of times to consume the enemy. This will fill up your stomach with useless garbage, but it will also restore GigaCal.

Towns and Raiding and Karma:

In the towns you will be able to buy weapons and items. You can also raid houses by walking up to them and press . This needs both a high attack power and high level. Whether you succeed or not your karma will rise. The bigger the karma the more likely are town residents going to attack you on sight, and some enemies will flee from you. You need a high karma towards the end of the game.

Casual mode:

In Metallia's swamp, right outside the shopping tent, there is a lantern. Talk to it and you can set the difficulty to casual mode, a much easier mode.

[top]Roadmap

Step One: Chapter 1-10

Basically just complete chapter one to ten at your own pace. After completing chapter 10, remember to have a save file that you are not going to overwrite.

Step Two: Normal and True Ending

In chapter 11 the fairy Mani will give you some choices "Affirm" all of them for the true ending and "Deny" them for the normal ending.

Step Three: Bad Ending

To get the bad ending, before the aforementioned incident you need to kill all three dark witches (see "All Three Dark Witches Defeated "), this will lead to two more chapters and the Bad ending. Have a save before the last level "Sealed Land".

Step Four: Pillars and Defeating Metallia

In this step you need to find and bloom all pillars and defeat Metallia (see "Released All Pillars! " and "Swamp Witch Metallia Defeated!"). This will result in the plat.

Notes:
For the second stage, you need to find these forbidden artifacts. There is a total of five, one on each floor, and they are pretty annoying to find, but with persistent searching you should be fine.

Notes:
In the Yaptola Ravine, there is a single Black Box, surrounded by torches. Open this for the Diallo Tochka, which you can use to turn on switches that looks like lanterns. Other than that, the levels are rather easy to figure out.

Notes:
Here there is one lantern you need to hit with the Diallo Tochka, but it's obscured by some rocks. Throw the arrow right next to the rock, and then lock on the lantern and the arrow will home in on the rock.

[top]
Chapter 5, Part 1 Clear!

Story-related and can't be missed!
Every level has the same format. You arrive, you walk over to your objective, you watch a cutscene, you do that until there is a boss, you kill it and you're done. The boss' follows the same format. I recommend filling up your AP bar, press + and then whack them to smithereens.

Notes:
Here there are puzzles where you need to place three witch statues on a big surface. Also the boss is pretty hard, so level a bit up before it. It's two bosses in one, so I recommend taking them down one by one.

[top]
Chapter 7, Part 1 Clear!
The Witch and the Bug Princess, part 1, has been cleared.

Story-related and can't be missed!

At some point you need to travel to a location via a secret tunnel which can be found south from the "Henea Pillar". It will be marked with a blue dot on the map.

Notes:
There will be a locked door you need to unlock with a switch to the west of the door. The game will point it out. You need to activate it with the Diallo Tochka, but where you first throw it some other direction and then lock on the switch so the Tochka will home in on it.

Note:
In the sewers, you'll need to find some sticky cheese at the beginning of the level for later use in the level. Also avoid the dark witch. She's a bit hard at this stage.

Remember to save before finishing this chapter, and remember to get the witches for the Bad Ending (see "All Three Dark Witches Defeated ").

[top]
Chapter 11, Part 2 Clear!
The Witch and the Hundred Knight, part 2, has been cleared.

Story-related and can't be missed!
Every level has the same format. You arrive, you walk over to your objective, you watch a cutscene, you do that until there is a boss, you kill it and you're done. The boss' follows the same format. I recommend filling up your AP bar, press + and then whack them to smithereens.

Notes:
The Castle Courtyard is the most ridiculously convoluted level in the game. Remember to carefully watch, what each and every switch and lever does. Also, there is a switch that lowers and raises water. When the water is drained, you can walk in the small corridors, but if the water is there, some dams are going to extend which you can use as bridges. I didn't realize this and was stuck for about an hour.

[top]
Graduated From Primavera!
Primavera School Section has been cleared.

Gotten while going for the Bad Ending!
After the two bosses from Chapter 11, you will see a rather weird cutscene. After that this trophy will unlock.

[top]
Valentine's Distortion Clear!
A new wedge has been created to repair Metallia's original world.

Gotten while going for the Bad Ending!
This in chapter 12. Here you will need to defeat seven editors. To even be able to interact with the story at this point you need a lot of karma points. Two things to note about karma: You need to not have the "Marginal Gaze" facet equipped or you will never get karma, and you can farm karma by just trying (and failing) raiding Metallia's Hut.

For this one, you need to travel "Near St. Dulche" and then you need to travel to the northwest corner of the map, where you will find a path to pillar called "Duchess Pillar". Near here you will find a stone, which you need to blow up. Here a scene will play out, and you will then need to go to the boss room in the Chocolatta Palace, where you will fight the Duchess. It's actually a pretty tough fight, so I suggest leveling up a lot, and acquire some powerful weapons (especially blunt weapons). You will then need to fight the editor, but these are pretty easy.

[top]
Purple Peel and Lavi's Distortion Clear!

This one can be found in Brockentum, at the very top. Here, you will oversee a conversation, and after that you will need to travel to Mt. Azbroken where you will fight Purple Peel (again). If you've leveled up properly, she is not going to be a problem, since she has the same attack pattern as when you fought in chapter 6, and Lily isn't with her this time. After that there is an Editor to defeat.

[top]
Belda's Distortion Clear!

This one is really easy compared to the previous two. Here you just need to enter Downtown Amataya and enter a small alley to the right 4 times, after a scene occurs every time, you will need to fight the editor, no pre fight. It's really not that hard of a fight. The hardest part is that there are pedestrians who also wants to murder you.

[top]
Nezaria's Distortion Clear!

Here you just need to get to the boss area of Wudes Forest. Here you will battle Nezaria, which is actually not THAT hard, but I do recommend being in at the very least level 70 when you fight her. She has quite a few annoying attacks but nothing horrible. After that an extremely easy fight with an Editor occurs.

[top]
Lily's Distortion Clear!

For this one you need to go to Yaptolacca Ravine and then raid the Shaman's hut. After this a scene will occur where you have to fight an Editor afterwards. This editor doesn't even move, and have two very powerful, but predictable attacks, so it shouldn't cause much trouble.

[top]
Lucchini's Distortion Clear!

For this one you need to travel to Tettara Desert and get to the well in the town. This will trigger a cutscene. Now go near the well three more times to initiate a battle with the Editor. This is the hardest editor battle, but it's not terribly hard, if you have a decent level. The attacks are annoying, but the fight is simple.

[top]
Visco's Distortion Clear!

After having done all of the other distortions go to the the Castle Gate, and battle this last editor. This one is quite easy actually with a bit of maneuvering.

[top]
Chapter 12 Clear!
The Witch and the Dark Knight has been cleared.

Gotten while going for the Bad Ending!
Chapter 12 is an accumulation of the previous seven trophies, so I suggest reading those.

[top]
Chapter 13 Clear!
The Witch and the Witch and the Witch has been cleared.

Gotten while going for the Bad Ending!
Chapter 13 is the final chapter for the Bad Ending, and it rounds up the things nicely. Remember to save before the final battle, so you can go back and release all of the pillars.

[top]
The Hundred Knight's Intellect
The Hundred Knight gained the ability to make basic choices.

Story-related and can't be missed!
This is the very first trophy you will get, and you will get it before even really playing the game.

[top]
The Hundred Knight's Strength
The Hundred Knight gained the ability to defend itself.

Story-related and can't be missed!
This will be gotten almost immediately after "The Hundred Knight's Intellect ", and is really not worth noting as you get this one really easy and really early on.

[top]
The Hundred Knight's Conscience
The Hundred Knight gained the ability to use logic and reason.

Story-related and can't be missed!
This is gotten throughout the first half of the first episode and is really nothing to worry about.

[top]
Defeated Dark Witch Kilkenbyuut!
Dark Witch Kilkenbyuut has been defeated.

See: "All Three Dark Witches Defeated ".

[top]
Defeated Dark Witch Aramashira!
Dark Witch Aramashira has been defeated.

See: "All Three Dark Witches Defeated ".

[top]
Defeated Dark Witch Faarenhait!
Dark Witch Faarenhait has been defeated.

See: "All Three Dark Witches Defeated ".

[top]
All Three Dark Witches Defeated
All three Dark Witches have been defeated.

The three dark witches can each be located in Ominous Cavity, Cicite: Reverse, and Old City Ruins.

For the dark witch Kilkenbyuut you need to go to the north of the Flowery Pillar in Omnious Cavity. There is a stone that blocks your path, which you can't destroy unless you're in level 38. Move forward to find the Dark Harpy Witch.
She is a quite fast boss, and can cause some problems if you don't have a good loadout. It seems to me that only S-rank weapons really truly can hurt her and I strongly suggest going into the Chaos Revelation (+). The dodge is extremely helpful in this situation, as her attacks are quick and merciless. I was in level 40 in casual mode and I barely defeated her, so I suggest being at least in that same level.

The Dark Witch Aramashira is located the same place as you fought her in chapter 9. This is by far the easiest witch and there really is no big difference between this fight and the one in chapter 9. Just go into Chaos Revelation and just hack'n'slash.

The last Dark Witch Faarenhait (which I guess is the sister to the Witch Celsius), is by far the hardest Dark Witch. You should know where she is, since you need to pass her in the Old City Ruins. Mostly it's an issue about dodging, and attacking at the right time, but while her attacks aren't as relentless as Kilkenbyuut, she does wicked damage. If you don't feel bad using an exploit you can just enter her area, then walk back to the pillar, wait a few seconds and then go through the very first gate to the small runway. Here you can use the Diallo Tochka to damage her from a distance without any risk of taking damage yourself. This does take a long time (at least 15 minutes), so prepare to be bored.

After all of the witches have been defeated you will have the three trophies representing each witch, this trophy and: "The Hundred Knight's True Power ".

[top]
Released All Pillars!
All Pillars have bloomed.

Missable!
You can only do this while going for the bad ending, and if you don't have a save before completing the game you will need to do that all over again.

This is by far the hardest and most time-consuming trophy of the game. There are a total of 130 of these. These are the small checkpoints you gather by hitting them. None of them are especially hard to find or put in a secret area, but a few will be inaccessible the first time through the level. Below is a list of every area and how many pillars there are.

* You need to return after getting the jump Tochka from later in the game to bloom one pillar.
** You need a really strong bomb Tochka (level 38) before getting two of the pillars.
*** This is a bonus area accessible in chapter 13. Here you need to gather 333 anima and paying for it under the "Bucket List" section at Metallica's house.

The Hundred Knight's True Power
The conditions required to fight against fate have been met.

This is unlocked after doing all of the requirements for: "All Three Dark Witches Defeated " for some reason.

Mega Hunny Knight Defeated!
Mega Hunny Knight has been destroyed.

This is basically the final boss. It's pretty hard, and I almost recommend leveling completely up to level 99. His guard doesn't drop before you're about half way through the fight, so maybe it's and idea to hold of Chaos Revelation until that point.

It's also worth noting that he has some very hard-hitting attacks, and some of them are very hard to avoid. He also sends out two enemies that blows poison and they can be a nuisance, but with persistency (and a large amount of GigaCal and Health items) it is very possible to beat him.

Swamp Witch Metallia Defeated!
Defeated your master, Swamp Witch Metallia.

This is gotten after the prologue. Metallia will offer you some gum, where as you will have some choices, choose first "Affirm" and then "Deny" to piss off Metallia, and enter battle with her. You will most likely get your ass kicked. If you beat the whole game getting the Bad Ending you will be able to enter New Game +. Here you start off at the same power as you exited the level, so when you get through the prologue again, you will be powered enough to take on Metallia. Defeat her and you get this trophy.

Normal Ending
You earned the normal ending.

The main difference between the endings happens in chapter 11 part 1. Right after you defeat the boss here, Mani will ask you some questions. Answer them with "Deny". This will lead to the normal ending, and you will get it after chapter 11.

True Ending
You earned the true ending.

The main difference between the endings happens in chapter 11 part 1. Right after you defeat the boss here, Mani will ask you some questions. Answer them with "Affirm". This will lead to the true ending, and you will get it after chapter 11.

Bad Ending
You earned the bad ending.

The main difference between the endings happens in chapter 11 part 1. Before facing the boss, do all of the requirements for: "All Three Dark Witches Defeated ". This will lengthen with two chapters, and you will get this trophy at the end of chapter 13. Remember that it is also in this run, where you get: "Released All Pillars! " and it's after this run that I recommend going New Game + for the "Swamp Witch Metallia Defeated! " trophy.
